At the end of the Month of Scorch (August), in the civilian district of Rentato…
After his parents went to work in a seafood company and a workshop of lamps respectively, Longman read the books that he bought recently alone at home, while he thanked the God of Truth and the arcanists from the bottom of his heart.
Ever since the wicked, radical clerics were banished by the Congress of Magic and the moderates came into power, the previously expensive books were much cheaper. Even the boy of a common household like himself could afford one or two books every couple of months. That was an unimaginable luxury in the past. As a lover of books, he felt that even the sun was brilliant and warm nowadays.
From Arcana Voice, Longman learnt that paper had been invented hundreds of years ago. After a long time of modifications, their price had been significantly lowered, and so was the printing technology. However, to monopolize knowledge and the channel of communication with the Lord, the radical clerics blocked the printing technology and encouraged hand-written copies, thereby keeping books at an extremely high price. Apart from the nobles and the great merchants, it was terribly difficult for the common civilians to learn words and knowledge. It was thanks to the secret dissemination of the Congress of Magic that the average knowledge level of Rentato reached this standard.
Now, times had changed. While knowledge was precious, it was not entirely unaffordable anymore, because the workshops and the major nobles are in dire need of laborers who had basic knowledge.
He browsed his books. It was a book that described the common creatures in nature with life-like illustrations. Longman, who had learnt to read from his father, was quite interested. His father had been promoted to be a middle-level manager of his company from a common worker. After that, his father had been taught how to read as well as the knowledge about the fishing industry.
"Werewolves, kobolds, goblins, giants, barbarians, Dudu birds…" Reading the book, Longman felt that he was now in the great outdoors appreciating different creatures who shared similar parts but had their own fascinating idiosyncrasies. "It's totally worth it to buy this book with my months of savings!"
Dum, dum, dum. Somebody knocked on the door, waking Longman up from the ocean of knowledge.
"Who is it?" he asked loudly, sitting straight and feeling rather anxious. I'm a boy alone at home. If it was a burglar, a thief, or a brutal 'night watcher' as described by 'Arcana Voice'…
Dum, dum, dum. A male voice echoed as he continued knocking on the door. "Open the door. I'm a mailman of the kingdom. You have a letter!"
Longman was immediately relieved, laughing at himself for listening to so many horror stories from Arcana Voice that he was apprehensive even during the day. Didn't burglars, thieves and night watchers only appear at night?
Opening the gate, Longman saw a young man who was smiling gently. He was wearing a dark green suit and carrying a heavy bag. There were two letters in his hands.
"Your letters." The mailman said with a smile.
Longman took the letters. He saw the delicate stamp on the envelope first. Those were among the first batch of stamps that the kingdom issued, on which the images of Her Majesty and Mr. Evans, as well as the amount, were painted.
"This stamp is beautiful. I need to cut it out for collection…" Thought Longman subconsciously. Then, he saw the sender, realizing that the letter was written by his aunt who was married in Paphos County. He immediately felt very happy. His aunt had always been closest to him before she was married. However, her husband worked in Paphos County. Although it was not very far away from Rentato, correspondence hadn't been easy because they had few trustworthy friends who were willing to carry the letters for them. They often communicated on a yearly basis.
Now, everything was different. Longman saw the amount on the stamp on the envelope and discovered that he could afford one letter every month with his allowance.
Thank the Lord, thank Her Majesty, thank Mr. Evans, thank Prime Minister Russell, and thank the postal department of the kingdom… He drew crosses on his chest and read the second letter. His eyes were immediately widened. "Admission notification? The First Generic School of Rentato?"
Ah? Ah! I've been admitted!
Longman felt such enormous ecstasy that something seemed to have exploded inside his heart. He kept saying thank you to the mailman, his eyes turning blurry.
Since it was only experimental, the royal family and the Congress of Magic had established merely two generic schools in Rentato, which were named as 'First' and 'Second'. Therefore, since the tuition fees were affordable for civilians, too many people were dreaming to go to the two schools. The rate of enrollment was probably less than one percent!
Thankfully, Her Majesty had set up the fairest way of admission: the College Entrance Exam. That was how he could distinguish himself.
"I can finally study the real knowledge and learn the real arcana and magic…" Stunned, Longman found it impossible to calm himself down. Too many thoughts were rolling inside his head.
"Please sign here as confirmation. Leave your fingerprint if you can't write." Having delivered many admission letters today, the mailman had already been used to the situation.
Longman was finally back to himself. He took over the fountain pen, which was said to have been invented for the general public, from the mailman's hands and signed his name on the receipt solemnly.
"Thank you, uncle, for bringing such a great surprise today." Longman thanked the mailman sincerely when he returned the fountain pen.
The mailman smiled. "I feel happy that you are happy. After I have enough savings, I would like to go to the general schools, too. Chances are that we will be schoolmates in the future."
His face flushing in excitement, Longman asked, "May the Lord grant your wish. Uncle, is it a tiresome job to be a mailman? You need to carry many letters and packages every day."
The mailman replied with a smile, "It is a bit exhausting, but things will be better soon. We're told that we will be given a vehicle named bicycle."
"Bicycle?" Longman frowned in confusion.
After seeing the mailman off, he opened the admission letter eagerly and read it while referring to his father's dictionary.
"The common tongue, basic mathematics, introduction to history, introduction to nature, common sense of magic, logic basics, emblem identification, body exercise… Those are the most elemental courses and are mandatory. Music, fencing, painting, documentation, introduction to electromagnetism, introduction to elements, psychological common sense, medical basics, semiotics, ancient magic languages, politics, economy… Those courses are for selection. I can choose the elemental knowledge of different directions according to my own situation in the third year of my generic education…" Longman read the contents of the courses and read their introductions carefully, envisioning his future.
"Am I going to be a secretary, a politician, a musician, a painter, a squire, a doctor, or an arcanist…?" Longman knew that he did not have the best magic talents. So, he considered arcanist as his last choice.
Without him knowing it, the day was already over. His parents came home and saw the admission letter.
After reading the admission letter, Longman's father nodded slightly. "It's still too early for you to consider. You will only know what you are good at and what you are not after you start learning for real. Of course, I suggest you start learning riding, fencing, music, economy and fishing knowledge in the fourth year. After you join my company in the future, you will be able to become a manager very quickly with such knowledge and make friends with the nobles and big merchants. In a daze, Longman thought to himself, "Is the pope really an ancient sorcerer? There seemed to be similar theories in the past, but there are also other rumors…"
As more and more programs were broadcast, Longman gradually got rid of his concerns and focused on his favorite shows.
"…The Holt Magic College held the first 'Flight Contest' today. It's a competition of speed and style. Some of the contestants are experts who count on their strength, and some are low-rank sorcerers who are good at controlling their staff…"
A flight contest? Longman listened to the new program with great interest. It was a news channel that introduced the fun incidents in the Congress of Magic.
Hearing those interesting events, Longman was suddenly stunned. A voice seemed to be roaring inside his heart.
It's true that I'm not talented in magic, but it does not mean that I'm not gifted at arcana! Mr. Evans said that one is capable of studying arcana as long as his spiritual power is enough to control the simplified alchemical items! The field that studies the truth of the world is just like mathematics. Magic talents are not a threshold!

"Ravenclaws, follow me! The dormitories are this way," said Robert Hilliard, the Ravenclaw prefect, as he led the first years to the common room. "The Ravenclaw common room is very simple to find you see," said Robert with a friendly grin, "All you need to do is remember where the Ravenclaw tower is, and that, is a very hard thing to forget."

"Unless you lose your way while heading towards the tower," said Penelope Clearwater, the female prefect of Ravenclaw. "But that's ok, just call for one of the ghosts, they'll be happy to help."

They walked up a spiral staircase located on the fifth floor and continued until they saw a door without a doorknob or keyhole. Instead, a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle decorated the center of the door. A cold female voice called out the moment Robert stepped in front of the door.

"Of the three colors, red, green, and blue, what would provide the brightest hue?"

Robert have a grin.

"As you can see, we Ravenclaws do not use a password to enter our common room. Instead we need to answer a riddle or question. Also, don't worry when someone else gives a different answer than you. There is never only one answer, as long as it makes sense you'll be let in."

One of the boys raised his hand.

"Yes? What is it- er- Terry?"

"Yes, um, what happens if we can't answer the riddle?"

Robert smiled even more at the question and answered eagerly. "Well you have to wait until someone who can arrives. You learn that way you see." 

Robert looked around at the students. "So anyone wanna give the question a go?"

There was dead silence as each and every first year hesitated to take up the challenge. Robert let out a knowing smile.

"It's ok, I was like you all my first year at Hogwarts, shy and inexperienced, you all will soon get used to it."

Penelope gave them all a warm grin before nodding her head in agreement, "Robert has a point, you all will learn many things at Hogwarts. Anyways, let's go in shall we? The answer is-"

"The colors blue, red, and green can hold a multitude of hues making it difficult to see which one is the brightest, however, when mixing all three colors together, you shall receive white, which undoubtedly is the lightest."

"Well reasoned."

The two prefects and the remainder of the first years stared dumbfounded as a black haired boy with a listless expression and a black bird opened the door and headed in.

"Who. . . . Was that?" Asked Robert with a confused grin etched on his face.

All the first years slowly shook their head. They all entered through the door and found the boy standing listlessly in the middle of the room.

The Ravenclaw Common Room was a very airy room. It was a wide, circular room and graceful arched windows that punctuated the walls. Blue and bronze silks hung from the ceilings and walls while a midnight blue carpet covered in stars decorated the floor in a ring shape, which was also reflected onto the domed ceiling. The room was furnished with blue tables, chairs, and a divan. Next to the door leading up to the dormitories stands a tall statue of a lady made of white marble.

The sound of wind whistling around the windows of the tower hummed in a soft and gentle tune and portraits of famous Ravenclaws covered the walls.

There was a small library located in a niche within the common room, and for its modest size, held quite the number of books.

"You there- first year boy-"

Arth slightly tilted his head as Robert, Penelope, and the remainder of first years caught up to him.

"Mm?"

Penelope lent a hand towards Arth. "Nice to meet you first year, what's your name?"

"Arthur," he replied before observing the common room once more.

"You seem to be pretty smart, it's nice to have you Arth," said Robert with a grin.

"Mm."

Robert gave Arth a look before facing the remaining first years. 

"Welcome to the Ravenclaw common room. Dormitories are upstairs, girls to the left, boys to the right. All the books you see on the shelves are yours for the taking, unless someone else has already claimed it. Meet up at seven thirty tomorrow in the morning at the Great Hall. Professor Flitwick will provide you all your schedules. Until then, have a good nights sleep and don't stay up to late."

Robert nodded his head at the first years before heading upstairs. Penelope did the same after waving goodbye.

The girls headed up to the dormitories first while the boys quietly stared at each other. The boy called Terry was the first to break the silence.

"Hey guys, I'm Terry."

"You can call me Micheal."

"I'm Anthony."

"I go by Oliver."

Terry called out to Arth. "You said you were Arthur right? Nice job on solving the riddle, I was clueless on what the answer was."

Arth nodded barley paying attention to his words.

Terry noticed this and frowned before facing the other boys.

"What are you guys planning on doing?"

Michael yawned. "I'm feeling kinda sleepy. Might hit the bed."

"Same, I'm tired as house elf."

"I haven't slept since yesterday, was too excited to sleep."

"What about you," asked Micheal, glancing at Arth, "What are you going to do Arth?"

Arth glanced at the small bookshelf.

"Read."

Michael gave Arth an unpleasant look, "Have fun then. Oi, let's go check out the beds."

"Sure, let's leave him alone. It seems like he doesn't want to talk to us anyways."

The boys sent frowns towards Arth before heading up the stairs. Arth ignored their unfriendly actions and proceeded to check out the library. He soon found out that many of the books there were books that he had never read before.

Nodding in satisfaction, Arth pulled out a book and sat down at one of the tables. He turned on a lamp and started to read quietly, all the while Corvus quietly slept on his head.

He was the first pupil of Albus Dumbledore.

He was there to see Voldemort’s rise.

He has battled against the evil forces and won.

He eventually saw the fall of the Dark lord.

He was there when Harry Potter became famous.

He was there when the dark lord rose again.

He was there when the world went dark.

He was there to stop it.

He might be a dark lord but he will force the world back into light.

He is the dark lord in the light.

As Stefan made his way out and dashed towards the Library under King Michael's possession, a Guard walked in carrying a handful of Parchments. He first started it off with an apology, "My King, I apologise for not knocking but this is very important!"

Not sweating small things like this, he just waved his hand for him to approach as he kept his glance towards his own plate of food. He would talk but his mouth is full so he can avoid the Romance Novel questions.

The Guard instantly specified after once reasoning was put aside, "A messenger from Pameres Kingdom has sent a letter requiring instant attention and answering."

Once he heard what all of this is about, he almost choked on fish meat and had to wash it down with a silver goblet of water. And some of Alama's water too. "Give it to me."

Reading the first letter, he instantly became amazed. 247 people just waiting to be picked up, it would be the source of stupidity if a King refused this offer without a proper reason. But King Michael became confused about why this letter is sent to him, when the Zamerians are clearly quoting King Zar.

It didn't make sense, until he took a peek at the second letter stating. "Just take it as he is talking about Gaster Kingdom and write me a Parchment back telling me what you think, we need to answer him in the next delivery."

Now it was made clear what the topic is, and King Michael couldn't help getting goosebumps about the idea. Sure he doesn't have many people under employment now, but the more people he has to his disposal the easier it would be to bring business in Gaster Kingdom even though at the start he has to give more than double the food.

These people don't have any skills, like the King described. But here where population is very scarce, King Michael would even take a chance taking in bandits to work. Even though he would have to teach those bandits some manners.

Alama was waiting patiently for a reply, King Michael's reactions however made her a lot less patient. Forcing her to urge under a low soft tone, "Well common!"

Let me cut it short for you, after nearly two months we will be expecting over 200 new Civilians here in Gaster Kingdom. Now she nearly choked on her food as well, but was a bit more lucky.

With her happiness raising a lot, but her curiosity stronger. She asked, "From Pameres Kingdom?"

"No, from Zameria." He answered with his lips stretching to a satisfactory smile. Afterwards he handed Alama the two parchments for her to quench her curiosity and for himself he grabbed the two other questions.

The hand writing on these two letters looks the same as the parchment of notice King Michael has read, he noticed it instantly since he is very used to this hand writing. If only he knew that Seer writes them all! To make it more interesting, this isn't a letter with business as a topic.

Reading his contents, he found it short enough to read out loud. "The following letter is a poem, please enjoy it as a small gift of gratitude from the illustratios of Pameres Kingdom. It has been sung for weeks now after you took your leave."

"Uu a Poem?" Asked Alama and instantly grabbed the letter from his hand, "I love reading poems."

Normally having contents snatched from his hand would piss him off, but what could he say to such a cute face? He just breathed in a bit and awaited for her to read it. However, her delicate tone proved as an antidote to his mood facing a nudge due to that previous snatch.

It sounds like 3 Angels singing at the same time in perfect harmony, with a tone that would soften the soul and carve one's nerves for the good the moment she sunk a verse deep in it.

"Fire and Blaze Source to be praised, a Hero came by with skills to Admire, Burning down enemies with his blessed Hellfire.
King Michael the brave, King Michael the deffender, facing the enemies with no plans of surrender!

Cursed Alliance and evil by blood, trying to throw our Defiance down to the Mud!

Once reading the poem, she took a quick peek at King Michael and found him with his eyes wide opened and his arm hair raised all up, obviously goosebumps.

Giving him a smile followed by blush occupying her cheeks, asking. "You like it?"

"Yes, you're amazingly talented." He answered immediately once her question snapped her back to reality.

"I meant the poem, but thanks." She answered, her cheeks becoming more red and noticing that he shared the similar fate at a lower pace.

"Ugh... let's read this last letter shall we?" Grabbing the fifth from the table het set them down at, he cleared his throat hoping to avoid embarrassment and read its contents.

"As you see, these are words wrriten from an illustratio and spread like wild fire in the Taverns and streets. Although there still are a few hundred people who still fancy the illas and the Alliance it is in cooperation with, a lot of illustratios have seen the difference after the Revolution. They also knew what would happen if the Alliance took charge once more, poverty. So they are the most grateful for your huge contribution towards Pameres Kingdom, without you we would be not one but two steps closer towards failure. With this huge nudge of acceptance towards Ignites, I expect the productivity to increase once cooperation between the two races becomes more common. Specifically, this will benefit both domains. Pameres Kingdom salutes you."

"Wow, they see you as a Hero." Alama added, feeling a lot of admiration towards the King and what he managed to accomplish in a day.

"Misses Wood, I've gotten you the books!" Bashed in Stefan with a lot of enthusiasm, carrying 7 Books on his hand but also feeling a bit bad about the fact that, "However, they are the King's personal property and you should return at least half of them under a month."

That's not what King Michael said but it is what Stefan feels to do, this is an old lady with barely any entertainment and people to talk to. So why rush to take books off her hand? At least for two months she will have books to read until Stefan figures out how to get more on his hands so he can give them to her.

"That's wonderful dear... What are they all about?" She couldn't help asking, she could see them clearly and did notice that each one ranges from a medium to large sizes but you can't judge a book by its cover.

"As far as I've read them, they are about Romance. You know... love." Stefan specified, feeling a bit embarrassed to put it in to word. But didn't worry much about it until now since Dea will be the one reading them to the kind Misses Wood.

"Oh... Well I can't wait to hear them out." She answered, feeling satisfaction no doubt. But perhaps this is a bad idea, she did loose her Husband years ago after all.

"Well, in that case let's have Dea read them." He softly answered and handed Dea the first book closest to his grip.

The title, "What an Ignite Heart can Carry." This instantly points out how old this book alone is, because Ignite based books in general have been burned in to ashes as soon as control has been attained from the illustratian Alliance. This fine piece of parchments sewed together is at least a Hundred years old if not more. There is still dust on it, which specified that King Michael has read it long ago.

"Ugh... Maybe we should leave them for later." Dea expressed, with a noticeable blush forming under her eyes. 

"Common now Dea, no need to be shy in front of Stefan. He was kind enough to bring us these wonderful books." Well now it was made clear what's going on here, she isn't yet comfortable to read in front of Stefan even though until now she projected herself as quite extroverted.

Stefan couldn't help but smile and picked up the third cup of tea, set close to where the books were set down as soon as he walked in. Taking a sip, he added his own sentence to back up Misess Wood. "Yes, don't worry I won't judge you. No need to be shy."

"Alright alright!" She answered, and finally opening the thick leather cover of this wonderful piece of literature. At the first page it firmly stated, "Written by Diotrephes Katezet."

She couldn't help covering the gap through her lips once her mouth hung open in shock! "By the Source of Fire, this is a book written by my Great Great Grand Father!"

Eric's hands dug in a Black Wolf's chest for the sake of self defense, a Fireball howled from his palms after out of pure fear, splitting the Wolf in half! That's where his Destiny began!

Fire? Ice? What's one magic when Eric as the Electus can use all 8? At the end of the day, what is magic? Is it really magic? Do Demons have anything to do with this?

Continent of Ignis! Going through racial cleansing, land wars, an economical collapse too! But it's still nothing compared to the "Peaceful" Demons who want Ignis and the rest of the 13 Continents gone, tearing their way through everything to achieve their goal!

-I'm gathering the guts and nerves to write 150k+ words a month which is equivalent to 100 Chapters or 2 Volumes, best part is that I'm succeeding! Please give me motivation with a Power Stone!
-This book series will stretch over 40 Volumes(2,500+ Chapters), that's the minimum guarantee from me as the Author.
-I can't predict with 100% accuracy from now but my goal is to reach 100 Volumes (5,000+ Chapters) with this series, and considering how many ideas I've already written down there is a 70% possibility of reaching this goal or go beyond it. Not to mention anything slightly less than the goal, the possibilities just rise!

The cloud whale cruised among the thin clouds, decorated by shiny stars.
If not for the shifting clouds, Angor could not even make sure whether the cloud whale was moving at all.
If he could find a giant mount like this, could he bring his brother and teacher to travel around the world?
It was only a dream. He did not know that the cost to keep a cloud whale fed was beyond the annual expense of a small wizard organization.
As Angor was immersed in his imagination, Flora brought him to Sunders' beautiful tent.
"Here you go. The teacher is waiting."
Angor thought Flora would join him but it seemed she had another plan.
He lifted the curtain and walked inside while maintaining his manners.
The tent looked small at first but was a lot bigger on the inside. Angor took a guess that there must be some kind of space expansion spells. He saw golden runes shining on the black cover cloth of the tent.
"Surprised much?" 
Sunders was still wearing his usual black attire while sitting at his desk with his legs crossed. He did not have his gloves this time. He was looking at Angor through his gold monocle, with his clean, slim fingers crossed.
"Good evening, professor." Angor did a hand-on-abdomen salute.
"No need for the protocols. My student should have his own characteristic. I don't want a pupil who couldn't even make out who he is. So are you wondering why the tent is bigger than the outside?"
"Yes. A wizard technique?"
"It is. But not every wizard can do it. Not even me," said Sunders. He picked up his cane and pointed to the golden runes, "To extend space isn't something I can explain quickly. There are a lot of elements. The tent cloth was crafted using alchemy products, while the shining symbols are space-stabilizing runes.
"Those two steps alone require expertise in Alchemy and Rune Craft. Extending space is yet another subject. Now, this is wizardry. Most things are complicated to explain. Are you ready for it?"
Sunders' simple words opened up a shining, brand new door in Angor's mind. Another whole world stood behind the door. A wizard's world, filled with formulas, symbols, danger, opportunities, the beginning and the end of everything. A world of truth.
Angor nodded firmly. He was prepared. Even if not for Jon, he still wanted to see this world. What was the fun in life if one did not see something amazing like this?
Sunders nodded, satisfied. He accepted Angor because the boy's talent could help him greatly. However, since Angor was his student now, he should be responsible for the boy's future.
"I guess the apprentice called Mara already told you about the basic concept about wizards? Now… If you want to become a real wizard, from today onwards, forget everything he said. Wizard isn't a concept. See things for yourself, and solve problems by yourself. Go find your own way of learning wizardry."

Angor imagined it and shivered. He would not expect such danger when he was just going into a tent. Looked like he really needed to approach everything in the wizarding world with great caution. Otherwise, he would not even have time to regret.
"Okay now. To stay or to go back to your tent is up to you."
Seeing Sunders was going to leave, and his biggest question was still unanswered, Angor quickly spoke, "Can I ask a question, professor?"
Sunders looked back and smiled at Angor's eager expression.
"No."
Sunders walked away.
Angor thought he got his chance when Sunders smiled at him. He even prepared his wording. Instead, Sunders refused right away and left without a second thought.
Was that a joke? And what's with the smile?!
Angor felt frustration building up inside him.
"I know what you wanted to ask. I'll give you an answer on the day when you become an apprentice." Sunders' distant voice came from afar.
This meant Angor still did not get an answer to his doubt.
It seemed his uneasiness would remain. He still earned something new though. Without the tablet, he could read here, and it would be fun. Not to mention all books in the room were related to wizardry. As someone who spent the last dozen years studying science, this would be a feast for him, where old and new knowledge intertwined with each other.
Looking at the valuable books, Angor felt his heart flying.
He had another question though. There were not many leather books. Most of them were cheap papers.
In Goldspink Empire, leather books were favored by noble families or authorities as a way to keep records, while paper books were common among ordinary citizens. Their prices varied greatly. Leather books were expensive and rare.
But, Sunders' collection contained a few leather books sitting in the corner. On a closer look, they collected a thick layer of dust. Sunders did not pay attention to them.
More than ten rows of bookshelves and 95% of the books were paper ones.
"Maybe the paper books are the most common medium at Fey Continent?" Angor picked up a random, thick paper book.

Even several formal wizards were dragged into the nuisance, creating a joke in the southern region.
Maybe the apprentice who published the article never thought he actually created such an uproar.

Angor opened the book and noticed the smooth and white paper. The surface of the paper was extremely fine, and the black, printed words on it looked really clear. This book was many more times better than those cheap, yellowish papers in Goldspink Empire.
It was only a few minutes, and Angor's complaint towards paper books already disappeared.
Such clean, easy-to-read books with the sweet smell of superior ink on them. Any book lover would enjoy reading these!

Jim began pondering, recalling that he had heard of Reiki before, people claimed it was an effective method of spiritual healing, he had attempted to use it back in his teenage days and thought he had grasped the concept when his hands began tingling. Turns out he was just triggering the nerves in his hands, an online friend said it may be useful in restoring nerve functions after a hand injury, but he was let down at not gaining supernatural powers. "Perhaps...?" The fruitless training he went through back then may have decreased the price need the buy the skill from the shop, he was hopeful that this was possible.

Jim started to feel overwhelmed by all the options available, and decided to spend time planning what to get rather than rushing into things. "Okay, Let's increase my current skills for now, biting off too much to chew will just end up stunting my growth." Thus, he went to bed, the next day he headed to the Library again.

After thinking it over, Jim opened the shop, the numbers in the top right were [3, 6, 2800], "I see, so that's how it is", Gaining a new skill granted another 10 points, but another 100 points had appeared too, it seems reaching max level in a skill grants an additional 100 points each, but Willpower hadn't added any, nor did it grant a 'Skill Max Gift Pack', he guessed it was due to only having one level, so it wasn't considered a feat.

Jim had now read 90% of the available books in the library, after arriving here this morning he had tested Distant Reading and was shocked, it didn't let him see a book clearly from afar, he literally didn't need to touch a book to read it, just focusing on a book allowed him to read the contents, the range he could do this was originally only a few meters away, but as the level rose he began to feel he could search the entire library's contents from outside. He began wondering if this counted as a psychic power, the large utility increase was stunning, and further fueled his desire to train his skills.

Jim tried it out, he decided to read two books at once, it worked perfectly, he tried three, but failed, it seems his limit is two, currently.

After finishing up all the books in the library, Jim was a bit downhearted at not gaining another derivation skill, he found himself able to concentrate on reading five books at once, six if he pushed himself. After leaving, he tested the range of Distant Reading while walking away, finding himself able to access the books at the deepest part of the library despite being a city block away, he was extremely impressed with this skill, the only problem being he can't use it for anything but reading books, Jim was hopeful the derived skill would allow him to study anything from afar, no use crying over spilt milk.

"Now, what should I do next...?"

A middle aged man stumbles across an artifact which changes his life in ways he could not imagine.

Author's Note: I'm sure you guys have noticed the lack of updates. I don't have writer's block nor are there any events preventing me from writing. I honestly just don't have to motivation to keep going for now. Thus, I'm putting the novel on Hiatus, I hope everyone has enjoyed what I've written, thank you.

Shortly after the judge elder left, Li Zhu decided to leave the arena, and claim his rewards. Since he had ended up in fourth place, Li Zhu had won ten Cultivation Enhancing pills, two weeks worth of cultivating in Spirit Palace, a skill from the sect library, and a plant from Shen Zan's garden. All these rewards were great, but the last two especially intrigued Li Zhu, since he was in dire need of more skills to widen his options in combat.

Currently he could only use Shadow Lurk and Frost Touch, neither of which were skills which could be used to attack enemies. This was in part a good thing, since they were skills which did not grow less useful as his cultivation increased, making them good long term skills to have. That said, he currently had no way to damage opponents stronger than him, so he needed to focus more on the short-term, at least for now.

With this in mind, Li Zhu decided to head over to the sect library first, and choose a suitable skill. According to what the elder had stated, he could choose from any skill on the first four floors at no cost.

The sect library was on Knowledge Peak, which was one of the central peaks of the sect. The actual library was a massive building with seven floors and thousands of books, most of which contained skills. There were also history books and journals of great masters, but they were much less prominent than skills, which had been accumulated over hundreds of years.

When a disciple who met all requirements bought a skill book at a certain cost, they would be able to read and learn the skill for however long it took them. After they learned the skill, though, it needed to be returned to the library, for other disciples to learn in the future. If a disciple did not return their skill book to the library, they could not buy any more from it, which also meant each disciple could only learn one skill at a time from the library.

There were seven floors in the library in total, each containing stronger and rarer skills, and having higher requirements to enter them. For example, outer sect disciples could only buy books from the first two floors, and inner sect disciples could only buy books from the first four floors. As for the three floors after that, only elders could access them, and the seventh floor could only be entered by the Grand Elder, or whoever was the leader of the sect at any moment in time.

As Li Zhu entered the library, he felt right at home. As the crown prince, anytime he had not been training, he had been reading in the imperial library. He had read hundreds of books, each of which increased his knowledge of the Endless Sword Continent, and sometimes even beyond.

In the first floor of the library, there was a large table at the back, where an old man was sitting. The elder was absorbed in his reading, so Li Zhu simply walked past him, to the second floor. Just as he was about to reach the stairs, though, the elder's head snapped towards him, his face full of suspicion.

The elder sized up Li Zhu for a second, before returning to his reading, and saying "As you know, stay within the first four floors. There will be an elder on fourth floor, and you do not want to anger him... trust me."

'He knew who I was?' wondered Li Zhu, realizing that the judge elder had not lied when she said that elders knew exactly who the top ten disciples of the competition were. At the same time, the old man's last words intrigued him, as he wondered what kind of person an elder would fear.

Still, he walked all the way to the fourth floor, since it was the limit of where he could go in the library, and had much stronger skills than the previous floors. Li Zhu did not doubt that the sect had placed a few extremely precious books in the lower floors for disciples to accidentally come across, but he did not have the time to scroll through thousands of books, all for the possibility of finding something rare.

On the fourth floor, there were much fewer books than the previous floors, with only a few hundred displayed in the bookshelves. This was already amazing, tough, since finding so many skills was difficult, even for a large sect.

Li Zhu began browsing the books immediately, looking for an attack skill that suited his combat style. Since he used Shadow Lurk to quickly strike enemies, a skill which took a long time to use was not worth it, since it would leave him exposed. Furthermore, he currently did not want to use a sword in combat, so the skill needed to be a palm or fist technique, which were much less common than weapon skills.

"Flaming Tiger Pierce... doesn't meet any of the requirements. Three armed shot... no. Molten Yang Slash... weak!"

As he flipped through the books, Li Zhu noticed that there were many skills related to fire and swords, while all other skills were less common. This actually surprised him, since the sect was named Flaming Saber sect, so he had expected more saber skills, rather than sword ones.

With time, he did find a few palm and fist skills, "Flowing Ocean palm... each palm strike is like a tide,  destroying and then receding. Each palm strike is stronger than the previous, and if this art is trained to the maximum level, your strength can be equal to the very ocean we are surrounded by!"

Most skills had descriptions at the start, but they were often exaggerations, and even the masters who had invented the skills had never reached the level they claimed was possible. Because of this, even the weakest skill would sound intimidating, when the description was read. Li Zhu, though, knew to look past the initial words, and flip through the first few pages. For Flowing Ocean Palm, as he read the next few pages, the skill was quite clearly weak, and would only be useful in certain situations.

Due to this, Li Zhu continued walking around the bookshelves, opening every book there was.

"My Memoir?" mumbled Li Zhu, after reading the title of one particular book, which had tears all over it, clearly having barely withstood the test of time. All the books he had read previously were skills, so he was quite surprised to find this book. After all, an elder had decided that this memoir was worth having on the fourth floor, which said a lot about its value.

"April 15, year 128: Today is a great day, because I have practiced by Flaming Saber skill to the fourth level, and I am now finally an inner sect disciple of the Thousand Illusions Mountain! I have not written in this journal for a few weeks due to training, but I will try to write something every day from now on." Li Zhu flipped to a random page, reading off the first paragraph.

Instantly, a shocked expression appeared on his face, as he read the date again. In the Endless Sword Continent, each year was made up of three hundred and fifty days, and divided into twelve months. That said, the current year was 1784, and year 0 was said to be when the first civilizations had formed. If the date on the memoir was accurate, it was more than a thousand years old, and was an extremely precious recording of history.

Li Zhu continued to read, engrossed in the daily life of this young man, so eager to reach the peak of the continent. Unfortunately, the memoir ended abruptly, where many pages had been ripped off by someone. In the place of the pages, there was a small note, reading, "If you are reading this, the young man in the memoir is our founder, Ts'ui Ru. Unfortunately, the final part part of the journal contained important information, and was stolen eighty years ago when our sect was attacked in the night. Still, I wish for all disciples of the Flaming Saber sect to learn the story of their founder, and hope that it may fuel a desire for greatness in them, and you."

Li Zhu was left dumbfounded, as he read the small note. The young man he had read about was actually a founder of this sect! Furthermore, Li Zhu was beginning to suspect that he was also the creator of all the treasures in the sect such as the Thousand Illusions Forest or the Kill Illusions tower, due to his affiliation with the Thousand Illusions Mountain, an ancient sect which had long disappeared, but remained in many legends.

'What could the last twenty pages have contained to be the cause of an attack by other sects?' wondered Li Zhu, but he had his suspicions.

The man in the memoir was clearly a great expert, and most figures such as him would own many treasures in their lives. Although it was just a hunch, Li Zhu suspected that the last pages contained information regarding these treasures, and the Flaming Saber sect had learned the hard way that wealth attracts jealously.

As he was absorbed i his own thoughts, Li Zhu heard a whisper in another aisle of the library, "Are you excited, Yin Shing!? All our work is about to pay off, and we finally do not have to wait any longer! The dream we so badly wanted to fulfill will finally come true, and that old man can do nothing about it!"

There was another person in the aisle, but he did not take the words well, reprimanding, "Shut it! Let's go somewhere more private if you want to talk about the inheritance."

And with that, the two voices stopped, and Li Zhu was left with a curious expression on his face.

Those who borrow books from the library had to place an equivalent grade of knowledge in the library or pay in the form of energy. Then they could borrow the book from the library. 
The book they borrowed cannot become a personal possession but had to be returned to the library after a certain time. When someone failed to return a book on time, the librarian would have to go and collect the books. Librarians could send workers to collect the books or go themselves, it depends on them. If the librarian failed to collect the books, they would get a penalty and it could come in many different forms. 
They might have to pay in the form of credits or being sent to a very dangerous region to get a certain book or something else.
It showed that even if you become a librarian, you can't evade your duties.
If the book is not returned on the due date, then the librarian would collect late fees from the borrower. It is calculated as to how late the book is returned. For example, if a reader borrows a book from the library for 10 years and returns it after 12 years then he would have to pay a 20% additional fee. If the borrower is not able to pay, then the librarian has the authority to get the planet energy where the borrower lives. The planet's energy is what helps people living on that planet to grow and evolve. If the planet's energy is low, then crops would not grow, the water would become polluted, etc.
If the late time is less than 10% then it depends on the librarian, if he wants to collect the late fees or not. This is one of the privileges of being a librarian.

Fu Yan was taken back upon reading it. Many questions were pouring into his mind like a flood.
"Who wrote this and who put this in my pocket." His mind was constantly thinking about the possible person and who could have placed it in his pocket.
After thinking for a while, Fu Yan decided to investigate it after coming back.
He went back to the changing room and wore the uniform. After wearing it, his whole appearance changed.
He looked into the mirror and saw a completely different person in the mirror. He remembered old Shun telling him that all librarians would look similar to others and he understood the reason now.
He looked in the mirror and could see a very handsome man there. The hair was silver-grey with brown eyes. A strange tattoo could be seen on the left side of the face. It started from the eyebrows and went down to his cheeks. 
The suit was just a white shirt with a black waistcoat on it. The pants were black and he wore long black shoes.
He looked very handsome and if he were to go on earth like this, people might think that he was some big star.
Fu Yan sighed upon looking at his image in the mirror. 
After doing some final checks, he walked toward the teleportation portal and activated. A white beam started to shine and after a second Fu Yan disappeared from the teleportation chamber.

Morning went as usual - calm. I had a breakfast and waited for Hermione to go on lessons.
On the lesson of flying, I achieved expected results. Broom answered my call properly after a fifth call. Magical talent improved 4 times works miracles (sarcasm).
Accident that happened later on the lesson wasn't as dramatic as shown in a film. Neville dropped, broke wrist and teacher took him for treatment. Malfoy thought he is undefeated, so he taunted Potter by taking 'Remembrall' and tried to show off his skills on broom, but Potter was natural at flying. Hermione tried to talk him out of this, but I stopped her and said that he can do it.
Honestly, I thought artifact was quite useless and felt its usage is more of a trinket with function. However, that is a gift from family and taking it from such a nice kid like Longbottom, is kind of cruel. 
Anyway, halfway through their "broom duel" he got scared by Harry's talent and thrown the 'Remembrall', which Harry caught. Situation was noticed by McGonagall, who then took him away somewhere. 
Hermione was very anxious and thought he will get into trouble or will bring trouble to Gryffindor and looked accusingly at me.
"He won't get us or himself into any trouble and won't be expelled. Don't worry."
"How can you be so sure?" She asked still uncertain.
"I just know, so trust me."
When teacher returned, we all tried flying on a broom and I got a new skill.

Lessons continued this day and as usual after dinner I went to library, but Granger went to talk with protagonist and redhead. I decided to go without her today, because she apparently turned her bossy mode on and started lecturing them. 
Due to me staying in library till late these days I was usually coming back barely before curfew at 10. I had 3 books from library in my bag and was contemplating problem of 'Using' books.
I was still unsure if I should take them to my inventory. It is a fast way to earn experience and I can always load if something happens, but at the same time I don't want to use them before I get high skill levels, because leveling gets harder every day. 
Am I just too careful? There are thousands of books and I finished reading around 7 books from library already. Even if I use them, so what? Then it is decided, this weekend I will try 'Use' on them and get some free skill levels. 
It's a shame that this week I had no time on reading library books due to me being busy with memorizing and studying current subjects, especially potions and history. 
But with new abilities, I acquired yesterday it will become easier to memorize books and I can return to grinding knowledge and skills in library. Never thought I will become grinding nerd, he-he. 
Anyway, I reached our dormitory a bit before curfew this time and decided to rest a little bit, because I had no desire to sleep yet. I went to fireplace and sat on a floor near it so that my back was facing the wall connected to fireplace and fire was lighting up space before me. It was a tad bit hot, but I was okay with it. 
I faked taking a book from my bag and started reading. Thanks to the fact that light from fire was dropping from behind right onto the book it wasn't too uncomfortable to read it. 
Honestly though, I was not trying to study it, just to rest a little bit while having a light read. Days were tiresome and quiet atmosphere like this helped me concentrate and think. Room was dark except for waning fire in the fireplace and it gave me that calming feeling that I needed.
Soon, I stopped reading and just looked at the window to see darkened sky. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment. Fire went out, apparently coal burned out. However, embers were still glowing in the darkness of the common room.
However, soon I started contemplating about life and thinking about many things, but especially about why I was rushing so much with gaining power and knowledge. There was no immediate threat, then why am I that hellbent on doing so much? Maybe it is just my mindset, when I can't relax until I am 100% assured of personal safety. 
Then there was also Potter and Voldemort. I know there is still a lot of time till he will revive, but I am still scared. I have saves and can load to any moment in time, but the problem is, 'Avada' will one shot me without a chance to even think about 'Loading'. 
And in second year already, there will be a giant snake that can kill with a look. And I have only a year until meeting with such a beast. I am happy to live, and I know that this a second chance, so I can't mess up. Maybe that is why I struggle to the best of my abilities? 
And another thing was, why me? I always want to ask system, but I am a little bit anxious to hear the answer. Or maybe system doesn't know as well. 
Or maybe, I am constantly busing myself just to run away from my problems and to have no time to even consider them, like what I am doing now.
*Sigh*
I know that all these thoughts are useless, because I like what I'm doing and that what matters. It is a waste of time - thinking about why's and if's. However, I just can't stop myself sometimes. 
I have no idea how long I was sitting here resting and thinking, but at some point in time I heard some noise coming from the stairs into boys dormitory and saw Potter and Weasley going somewhere in their bathrobes.
'Are they going somewhere? In the night? Wait a sec… Isn't it the night when they discover a dog? I completely forgot about that, damn.'
Just as I wanted to get up, Hermione came into the room and started berating boys. By the way, she looked cute in pink. 
Hermione was still trying to make them stay and forgo some duel to not lose points to Gryffindor. They were on their way to exit the common room and I decided not to follow them.
Potter looked a little bit annoyed because of the current situation, so he ignored Granger and told Ron to go. He pushed the portrait to started exiting, but she followed them and went away.
'Hm…' 
Seems like story started moving in the direction it was meant to be. Better not to intrude now. I will come into the story around the middle probably. Right now, I don't want to mess up the story, because this moment is the starting point of whole plot and basis for Potter's suspicions about what Fluffy guards.'
Moreover, not like I can do much in their situation. However, now is a perfect opportunity to introduce myself to their group. I will just need to pretend that I couldn't fall asleep and was reading here.
But first, I will go change into my bathrobe.
I got into my room and changed my clothes. Left the schoolbag there, took one book and went to read into common room. I switched coal in fireplace and used my only learned spell so far, Incendio to light it up, sat in my previous place and started reading. 
It seems like some action going to happen soon.

Met truck-kun. Obviously died. Nobody survives after fateful meeting with him.
Afterwards, I was reborn in the different world with the system from my favorite game! However, there was a catch - I had negligible amount of knowledge about this universe.

I open my eyes and see [You were caught during unauthorized entrance into a magic academy!] 
"Oh cmon... System, do you really need do this every time? Now... what will I do?" 
[Pick a race]
"..."

Sitting by the pond at the center of the library, Dyon immediately began pouring through the books Libro helped him get. Although Dyon's memory was never photographic, he was still proud of it. If he, at any point, understood a topic, it would be unlikely that he would forget it. But, this was taken to an all new level with the speed reading technique. 
By using the Sapientia family's technique, Dyon was able to understand the will of the books he wanted to read without even opening the cover. This essentially led to an even deeper understanding than he could have gained by normal methods. As such, the things he learned were engraved into his brain. As long as he put them to practice, he would never lose this knowledge. 
If he could gain a cultivation method, his capacity to use the technique would increase. He may even be able to speed read multiple high-level books at a time. 
Dyon was in awe of the knowledge he was gaining. Array Alchemy allowed a myriad of things, from setting up protection and slaughter arrays to grafting together simple plants to form more complex ones. Even just one aspect led to infinite possibilities. For example, scientifically speaking, grafting meant using special means to splice the DNA of various plants together to form a new plant sharing the properties of the grafted DNA, or even creating all new properties not shared by any of the plants used to create it. By using the martial world's methods, the new plant would even be available immediately without the growth wait time. 
'No wonder why no one wants to join this faction. The complexity is without bounds. Theoretically, there's an infinite amount of knowledge to gain, which means any regular student would never feel like they made any real progress.'
But this only made Dyon smile. Dyon estimated that in just 2 days, he'd have the common plant knowledge equivalent to that of the top array alchemy expert of Focus Academy. 
There was something that made Dyon even more excited, though. He technically might not need to read the books on the highest levels of the library. If he used his knowledge of plant biology in combination with his knowledge of the function of the common plants, he may be able to guess the results of grafting certain plants in certain ratios with high accuracy.  
'This must be hard to do for other Array Alchemists because they don't have the human world knowledge that I have.' 
This thought gave Dyon a new level of understanding. 
'Delia didn't not recognize the storage bands I have on because her world doesn't have the means to make them. She didn't recognize them because her world has other means to create the same effects, so they don't need commoner storage bands.' 
One of the basic books of the martial world that Dyon read about gave an overview of the storage devices in the martial world. While human devices utilized preservation and miniaturization technology, the martial world used special gems that consolidated infinitesimally small amounts of dimension and time will to recreate the same effects. Dyon accessed the objects he stored through a screen, while Mayumi could pull out his bow and arrow just by touching the gem and using his will. 
This was an important epiphany for Dyon for many reasons. For one, this steeled his resolve to not underestimate those of the martial world. They weren't technologically inferior, they just had no need to advance in fields that they could use their own theories to replace. Secondly, this meant Dyon might be able to gain an advantage if he combined his commoner education with their knowledge. Him not necessarily needing to read higher level theory books on plants might just be the first instance of this. 
Before Dyon even noticed, 2 days had passed by before he finished speed reading the hundreds of books on common plants. This was when Dyon noticed a problem with his speed reading method. 
'I have all of this knowledge, but it isn't organized. It's almost like if I want to recall something, I have to close my eyes and "re-read" the hundreds of volumes I just went through to find the answer. This isn't good. The knowledge I've gained is useless like this.'
Frustrated, Dyon carried the books back to the wooden desk in sets of ten. 
'What a waste of 2 days. I'm tired as all hell and I smell horrible.'
Dyon had long since taken off his previously unbuttoned dress shirt and switched his rolled-up jeans for a pair of grey sweats, but he still felt uncomfortable. 
Dyon looked up as the monitor flickered, "you seem tired," Libro pinched his nose, "I can almost smell you from here. Go rest. I'll let you take the books on array theory with you."
Dyon flicked his wrist, too tired to answer. He created a new folder called 'array theory', and slotted the other set of hundreds of books into his storage bands. 
"What an interesting device. Doesn't seem very efficient though," Libro snickered. 
"Yea, yea, yea. I'm sure you know what problems I'm having; do you have a solution?"
"In terms of your need for rest and showers, those won't be resolved until you reach a higher cultivation level. Your brain's capacity is still too weak to go without rest. In terms of the speed reading technique, I'm sure a genius like you will figure it out," Libro smiled deviously. 
'I can't just give him all the answers, this is my family's secret technique after all. If I wasn't crystal glasses level, I'd be afraid of being killed for even thinking of giving him this technique. My only saving grace is that I didn't give him the full technique.'
Dyon sighed, "fine, I guess. Thank for your help, this would probably have been a lot harder without you". 
Libro was a bit surprised by Dyon's sincere thanks, but he took it in stride as he watched Dyon sluggishly head towards his dorm room.

On the top floor of the center pillar, the family heads met in a spacious office. 
Reminiscent of the ceremony hall, the room was filled with somber light. A fire place raged off to the right, flickering soft embers that lit the dark room. Drapes of maroon covered the large windows, resonating with the dark wood floor. A large desk partially hid Patia-Neva's figure as he faced away from the other family heads and towards the covered windows. 
The other family heads sat on black couches surrounding the fire place, letting silence reign the room. 
Kami was the first to speak, fury coating his words, "I won't let this stand. My boy still hasn't recovered. Disregarding the pain he's been in, the expense of the medicine needed to ensure these wounds would have no impact on his future is astronomical." 
"Don't act rashly Kami. If your boy hadn't tried to kill the commoner, he would have never suffered," Patia-Neva's voice was understanding but firm. He couldn't allow Kami's hate to fester. 
"I don't care. Since when has the Kami family ever needed permission to kill? He'll pay for this humiliation".
Duco spoke, "don't forget why he gained the quota to perform in the first place Kami. The boy may be mediocre here, but he is of great value to the commoners. If they learn of him being killed, and especially so soon after coming to us, it will start a war."
"Duco is right, we have other issues to deal with. Warring with the commoners is not something we can afford, and it seems like the boy knows this. Plus, considering the dangerous missions Focus Academy's students undergo from the 4th grade onwards, he might just die naturally," Bai spoke out in agreement. 
Sapientia's light laughter filled the room in hopes of cutting through the tension, "from what I can garner, this boy might not continue to be mediocre for long," he said in reply to Duco's comment, "I see that our resident Librarian has already taken a liking to him."
"What?!" 
Kami's anger spiked. The importance of the library to this school couldn't be understated. If Dyon somehow managed to get Libro to his side as a mentor or friend, his progress would be much faster.  
"Not to worry Kami, Libro wouldn't break the rules of the academy… Although, it seems that Patia-Neva's daughter gave the boy access to the first 600 levels for a few hours," Delia's father stiffened at these words.
Kami sighed in relief. No one could do anything with just a few hours, even with access to 600 levels. 
"Eh, I wouldn't be too relieved if I were you. It seems like one of the techniques he learned was my clan's speed reading technique."
"Learned? Don't play with us Sapientia. You just said he only had a few hours, what do you mean learned. And such a high level technique at that?" Storm said, breaking his silence. 
Sapientia sighed, "It seems he has quite some affinity for my clan's techniques."
Kami's fists tightened. 
In reality, it seemed odd for experts of their stature to be so concerned with a boy. Their surprise had been minimized when they remembered their background check on Dyon. When it came to how powerful his music will was, it was explained away by considering how long he had played the piano for; so, his feats were less impressive than they seemed to be. But, they felt he might become a threat in the future. The worst part was that they didn't have the time or means to deal with him now. And plus, aside from the looming threat of war with the commoners, it was taboo for the older generation to mingle in the affairs of the younger. 
Patia-Neva's voice rang out, "the larger school alliances are putting too much pressure on us. We may have many promising geniuses in this generation, but past years have only had maybe two or three. If we want this school to survive, and thereby secure the future of our families, we shouldn't be ostracizing geniuses. The boy is intelligent. It wouldn't be difficult for him to find out that there would be other schools willing to recruit him. We are lucky that he fell within our Focus district. I suggest we move away from a plan to stifle him ourselves. The students of this school will be more than enough to do that. That way, if he succeeds despite that, we have a genius. If he fails, then we'd have gotten rid of a problem. We have other matters to attend to, such as preparing our families' geniuses for the Alliance Ranking Tournament and..."
Although Patia-Neva didn't speak the last parts of his thoughts, the other family heads knew fully well what he was referring to. 
Aside from this, the truth was that the family heads only directly acted against Dyon because it was the easiest and most direct way. If he was embarrassed into leaving without them having to lift a finger, it would have been their best-case scenario. They had no way of guessing he'd have met Delia to give him access to the library, or even that he'd be able to learn what he learned in such a short time. 
Kami swallowed his anger, choosing to believe his son would get his own revenge. 
As the pressure in the room subsided, the family heads nodded in resolve. It wasn't worth it to act themselves. They knew that Dyon would be slowed by his own lack of resources. In fact, he might not even be able to afford a decent cultivation technique since the one demonstrated in the coming classes would be the most basic and crude version possible. 
And even in the case that he did persevere through all of this and become a great expert, if he joined one of their families, it could just be used to bolster their power. 
In addition, they had already had Sapientia perform a mind wiping. Only the chosen, Libro and the family heads knew of what took place in the ceremony hall. This way, no teachers would bend over backwards to raise Dyon as their disciple, the family heads could avoid embarrassment, and the chosen would have the motivation to remain far ahead of him. 
Even the family heads didn't know what calamities lay ahead of them. All they knew was that power trumps everything. And right now, they didn't have enough of it.

"You're too arrogant."

To Dyon, it seemed as though these words were heard all the time.

However, how could these people possibly know of all his hard work? Of the fact that sleep was but a distant relative of his. How could they know that he never had a single moment to rest. 

And yet, despite their ignorance, they still said, "you're too arrogant..."

But where were those people when a five-year-old Dyon's eyes shone looking at a computer screen filled with code? Where were those people when an eight-year-old Dyon played his piano and plucked his guitar strings until his fingers bled... needing to vent his feelings about his lost mother without bothering his fatigued father? Where were those people when Dyon sat alone at ten-years-old… when his parents were gone, and the only thing left was a room filled with inventions and computers?

Dyon's arrogance wasn't borne of thin air. It was his hard work. It was his shield. And he wasn't willing to give it up...

Now alone, he left his home behind. 

He was no longer the boy genius who changed the human mortal realm. He was now nothing but a commoner, a bug noble families saw fit to step on. An insignificant existence. 

And yet, Dyon was still the same unchanging person. Standing tall, his eyes firm and his will indomitable.  

This so-called Martial World would come to understand the meaning behind his existence...

"You're quite bold for a girl who's almost been recluse for her whole life you know," Dyon said chuckling.

"Little sister Delia and Meiying probably think so too, but you've been in my heart since the opening ceremony. Maybe not exactly in this way… But sometimes a foot in the door for a long time leads to a fully open one, no?"

Dyon smiled, 'it seems like she's been watching from afar for a long time… it must be lonely being in that room with Libro all the time.'

Dyon felt a delicate hand playing with his collar, "the truth is that I'm always playing the gentle big sister role, mostly because I have no idea how much longer I'll have the chance to…"

The vulnerability in her voice made Dyon tremble. Madeleine was so strong, yet it seemed even martial artists had their weaknesses too.
