The greatest protagonist of Chinese light novels.

Lately I've been wondering when did all this start. Reading of web novels I mean.
I remember when I started to watch anime, around the time Kill La Kill just finished. From there I got into manga and webtoons. I then started reading japanese light novels because I couldn't wait for more anime/manga releases. From there I went to korean and chinese web novels. And I have branched further out with my reading interests since then.
Though I don't remember the first anime I watched, not do I remember the first manga and LN I read, but I do remember that my first korean WN was 'Everyone Else Is A Returnee' and the first chinese one was 'Revered Insanity'. Both of these works just resonated with me somehow.
So I'm still searching for novels that give me these feelings. Additionaly I'm also looking for the 'perfect' novel as well, a novel that just ticks all my boxes. I don't care if said novel would classify as a fan-fic or not. I have found some that come close, but non are 'perfect'.
I know I won't find it, but I still hope.
That's my ramblings for today.

When Xing Peng saw that the meteorite was coming towards him, he knew he was finished.
For him, who knew his death was only a moment away, everything around him seemed to be in slow motion. During which he slowly recalled all the good memories of his life and then realized, he didn't have any good memories at all.

His life was filled with bullying and he was filled with regrets. He was only a 17-year-old dammit!
and still, a virgin who didn't get to experience the world.

His major regret was that once he died, his mother will be the only one who would shed tears for him in the family, his brother and father would just pretend that he had never existed in the first place.
But what he was more afraid of was that after his death, his mother might have a breakdown as well. She had placed all her hopes on him and with his death, she would suffer both mentally and physically. He didn't want to see her suffer more than what she was already suffering.

He could only hope for a miracle and prayed that his mother would not be burdened anymore.
Although it would be hard for her, there was nothing he could do, that's why he felt more regretful.
 
As he recalled all his memories before his death, he realized that they were truly not very pleasant and were full of difficulties.
" what have I, Xing Peng ever lived for? now that I'm about to die, all I can think about is the sufferings in my life. Truly laughable." thought Xing Peng.
He also recalled some memories he had with Li Chong. He was a good friend indeed.

"I wonder if there will be any Chinese novels in the afterworld if it exists?" thought Xing Peng.
 
As he was thinking about Chinese novels, he remembered his favorite reincarnation type novels. Xing Peng started thinking:
"I wonder if I will be reincarnated? but those stories in the novels are fake, what am I even thinking? ahahaha"

Xing Peng's thoughts ended there as the moment was over and the meteorite had already descended upon him.
Li Chong ran to the crash site and looked at all the debris and huge drafts of smoke around the area, he was crying hot tears as he shouted: " brother Peng, rest in peace"

Xing Peng felt no pain, his death was swift.

or so he thought.

Because the next time when he opened his eyes and looked around, there was nothing but empty void.
As he looked at himself, he found himself to be in an intangible humanoid form of light of sorts.

"is this my soul?" thought Xing Peng.
In many of the Chinese novels he had read, had a similar depiction of the soul and he found that they might be strangely accurate.

"looks like I really died, sigh. but where am I? "
as Xing Peng looked around, he found nothing other than nothing. It was an empty void which seemingly stretched aimlessly.

So he walked, kept on walking in a particular direction.
It had been a few years already since Xing Peng had started walking along a direction in the void, or rather floated towards that particular direction.

Being a soul, Xing Peng found that he was weightless and easily floated in the void.
Although it was fun initially to Xing Peng but a torture later on, as he kept on floating aimlessly towards nowhere.

"what is the point of this?! its probably been hundreds of years already" thought Xing Peng.

Xing Peng at a point had concluded that this might be hell, which was torturing him by making him go nowhere for all eternity.
Just the thought creeped him out. Who would want to travel nowhere for all eternity?
Xing Peng certainly didn't want to.

Currently, as he was floating aimlessly, he suddenly saw a small ray of light ahead of him.
Feeling excited, he immediately proceeded towards that small ray of light.
It took him another one year before he actually reached there.

Xing Peng was disappointed, he thought that that ray of light was close by but it, in fact, took him so long to reach there.
Where was the Justice in this world?
Wait, did world ever have any Justice in the first place? If it did, he wouldn't have died for the wrong reasons when a meteorite just came out of nowhere and crashed precisely onto him, as if it had a grudge.

As Xing Peng reached the place where the ray of light was continuously coming from, he noticed there was a plain golden double door and the ray of light was coming from a small keyhole right in the middle of that door.

Xing Peng's curiosity peaked as he went towards the door and peeked through the hole. All that he saw was bright rainbow-ish lights and in the next instant, he was pulled in by those lights.

Xing Peng who is a teenager with an absolutely not-a-normal life, one day gets hits by meteorite-kun and his supposedly 'end' becomes a new start in a whole new world!

Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Asian history so I can't determine what century it is. Well I was given with this opportunity, so I better use it wisely. I don't live in a luxurious palace and commoner's life is quite miserable. I need a plan how to use my previous world's knowledge. First, I need to learn language. Usually babies start talking at age of 10 or 11 month. I am sure I can say some words even now if I try really hard, but I don't want to scare my parents. Instead of being acknowledged as a genius, they might get afraid and think I am some kind of a devil possessed baby. So around seven months would be enough time to prepare and say my first words in Chinese. Before that I must listen carefully what family members say, observe surroundings and accumulate as much information as I can.
It's been few weeks since my plan was born. I never left the house. I know my family members are mother father and a grandfather. I never saw any other family member. Sometimes instead of my mother some young girl takes care of me. At first, I thought she was my sister but more I looked at her interactions with my family, more I was sure that she was just some kind of a nanny or a servant. That was good. Probably there are more but my field of vision is obstructed by mother. Another observation. Some people are wearing similar clothing like my mom. And those people including mother get respectful looks from others who don't were those attires. Probably clothing is the one way to demonstrate your social status. It was like this in many other countries, so ancient china should be the same. Soon we arrived at some building. Mom went inside and put me on bed made out of a bamboo. Some older lady came into the room. She smiled at us and chatted with mom for a while. I still couldn't understand a word. It was hard to learn language without knowing a single word. Soon their attention was directed at me. Older women came close. And smiled at me and I also answered with smile. Then she opened her palm and some kind of an insect appeared out of nowhere. I got terrified at that sight. Can you imagine insect of almost size of your head? What the fuck? I know Asian people eat insects, but I am just a baby chill down people. I can't eat that shit. Nooo, save me. I started crying and looked at mother's direction. Suddenly, I felt warm, it wasn't warmth like when I felt from the sun. It was hard to describe, it felt very comfortable. I stopped crying and looked at the old lady. In her palm there was some kind of ball of light instead of the insect. What? Is this some kind of super cool ancient Chinese medicine. But no way if they had such marvelous techniques why I never heard of it. I have seen many fake miracles in internet. This was different. Is this magic? Could it be that I reincarnated into a different world. Or maybe in a parallel world. Until now I was almost sure that I was in ancient china. If I think about it, I was reincarnated which was on itself supernatural event. So why can't there be also a magic. Hmm, that's right, in novels I have red on earth, MC was mostly reincarnated into some kind of magical world. Wait, novels? Magical light? Insect? Ancient Chinese theme? Did I reincarnated where I think? The novel someone recommended, and I was reading day before my college class. Did I reincarnated into Reverend Insanity world?

This is a fanfiction of “Reverend Insanity” novel. Main character is a RI novel fan and he gets reincarnated in to Gu cultivation world without cheats. He uses his knowledge to overcome obstacles and starting from the bottom, he walks on his own path.

TLDR: I will be taking a break for around a week due to my school assignments/examinations coming up and will remain posting on 30th July 2018. For my new Webnovel viewers, I wouldn't mind you not voting for me using your power stones next week since I won't be posting for that week!

Hi! For my QI readers, I realised that you didn't get to read how I started writing Spirit Immortal. So below is a short description of myself!


Background about myself and inspirations for writing Spirit Immortal
Currently, I am a university undergraduate, and I have been reading fiction for years. I first got into reading fiction because of anime. Initially, I was a pure anime/manga fan. But I then found out about the existence of light novels. Light novels were far ahead from the existing anime, so I started to binge read translated volumes on Baka-Tsuki. It became somewhat of a drug to me. I kept reading and eventually, fictions had become part of my daily life. However, everything changed when the Yen Press attacked… Suddenly, many of my favourite novels disappeared, and less and less light novel translations surfaced. 

Finding myself in a severe deficit of fictions to read, I found something called Novelupdates. Every few minutes, there was a new novel chapter being released. I was overjoyed. Finally, I was able to satisfy my daily fiction needs. That was how I got into wuxia/xianxia novels. Being ethnically Chinese and fluent in both English and Chinese, there was a great allure for me in these stories. When I was younger, I would frequently watch The Legend of the Condor Heroes and many what we call "wuxia xiaoshuo." So seeing that the traditional stories blend with modern themes was somewhat shocking to me. To think that such a part of the internet existed!

So I started reading a lot of wuxia/xianxia stories. I remember the early days of Coiling Dragon and Stellar Transformations. The friendly competition between Gravitytales and Wuxiaworld. But one day, I encountered Doulou Dalu. For those who have not noticed, Spirit Immortal's cultivation system is inspired by this very novel. The reason being, it was the only cultivation system that I could actually follow. It's a very simplistic system, rank 1-100. The other Wuxia novels cultivation systems confused the heck out of me. However, worry not, Spirit Immortal is not a fanfiction of Doulou Dalu. In fact, other than the cultivation levels, they are nothing alike.

For a while, Doulou Dalu was my favourite novel. To a certain extent, it still is my favourite translated wuxia/xianxia novel. But I started feeling bored. Every single book that I read followed the same format. And after many disappointing stories, I thought to myself… Hey, I could just write something I like!

Thus, the idea of Spirit Immortal started germinating in my mind. It took me over five months to finish plotting the major arcs, characters and finally the ending before I started typing my first word. Majority of the reason why it took so long for me to start writing this story is because of my procrastination and school. Additionally, I didn't know if the story was going to be well received. But eventually, I steeled my mind and said: "Whatever, as long as I am satisfied with the story, who cares?"

So yeah, currently the number one fan of Spirit Immortal is myself, and I can't wait to put the entire story I have in my head into words for all of you to read. It will take time though, so do stick around!


Issues I have had when writing Book Two
I have realised that many of you were unsatisfied with the pace of the story, saying that it is too slow and whatnot. And guess what, I agree! I have been putting the character and world development at the forefront of my story thus slowing down the story progression, However, fret not, now that the first two books are completed, the story progression would begin to expedite as I believe that I have sufficiently developed my characters!

I'm trying to be more descriptive in my writing but that is still a work in progress. Perhaps it would be the greatest hurdle for me but rest assured, I will try my best!

Another major issue I had was time management. I started writing Spirit Immortal during my semester break where I had plenty of time. I even managed to complete Book 1 during that break itself! However, once school started, I had to figure out a way to balance work, personal life and writing Spirit Immortal. There were some days where I only had three hours to efficiently write, proofread and edit my chapter before I deemed it ready to be published. Hence, there might be times where my writing quality dropped slightly but I'm trying my best to ensure that I retain and even improve on my writing quality, so please be patient with me on that one.


Future of Spirit Immortal
Once my semester break hits once more, I will be sitting myself down in order to write as many chapters as I can. Perhaps, eventually, I will take the road of creating a ******* account to allow you guys to read advance chapters and at the same time, give myself some funding to weather through the school days. 

So yeah, I can't thank you guys enough for continuing to stick with me as I continue to write Spirit Immortal. I hope that I will be able to deliver the satisfying fiction that I have conjured up and brought you as much enjoyment as I had in writing this story!

Over a million years ago, the first human contracted with the first Spirit. Ever since then, Spirit use has become commonplace. Humans used Spirits to carry items and start fires. Eventually, even start wars. Thousands upon thousands of years past and one day, one human did the impossible. He transcended his mortality and ascended to the realm above.  

In the present day, the Frie Clan was once a great clan of the Himmel empire. However, a devastating battle ten years ago crippled the clan and their numbers dwindled. To make up for their loss, the upper echelons decided to adopt young orphans and nurture them to become a future pillar of the weakened clan. Shin was one of those orphans. 

Although picked up by the Frie Clan, not all is smooth sailing for Shin and the other orphans...

I doubt anyone will read this but i anyone does this is my first novel i don't care if you like it your not i was bored so i decided to try my luck and try to make a novel. but disclaimer i have very very limited brain cells and have the memory of a gold fish and talking about gold fish they actually have a great memory they can remember their hole life. but enough about gold fish i have a horrible sense of humor and i suck at righting but i bet you can see that i suck already. i am of America descent i am as pale as a ghost. i have read many Chinese light novels so i know a little bit about chinese history. this novel is going to be a mix of west and east. i would be embarrassing my self by trying to put chinese names in this novel but i will put chinese cultivation and  western names. i will try to make this novel good but put you hope way down if you think this is going to be a good novel.


When I was in middle school, a friend introduced me to anime. The first anime I watched was probably between Highschool DxD or Soul Eater, aside from the Naruto episodes I would stumble upon on Cartoon Network. 

I loved watching anime. The animation, music, voices, and the world that was built opened my mind to crazy fantasies and dreams. I never thought I'd get into manga because it didn't seem as interesting.

One day, I heard that the Bleach manga was ending and by then, I'd watched literally hundreds of anime. Bleach isn't in my top 5 but it was still an anime I enjoyed a lot, and there was still more to the story I didn't know about in the manga. So I read it...

That's when I downloaded an app to read manga. Some time in either my last few years in high school or early post high school, and boy did I have a long list.

I read so many different things like manga, manhua, and manhwa. First off, my favorite manga became Re:Monster and when I got to see stories made by Chinese and Koreans... I had so many other worlds to explore. 

Tales of Demons and Gods, Solo Leveling, Omniscient Reader and The Last Human... they enthralled me. Reading them opened my eyes, what I always wanted is to explore new worlds, and after reading tons of manga. My mind was slightly open to reading light novels, I just never thought I could keep myself entertained reading light novels.

Out of the blue, something made me down load an app for light novels. Wanting to give them a chance, I placed many on a list before deciding which to read first. My first read, was My Vampire System... it was pretty good but some places felt like they were dragging on. So once I got to chapter 50 or so. I moved on to see what else light novels had in store.

That's when I came across one of my favorites today. Fourth Prince's Debauchery, it was a drug, I couldn't stop reading it. 

That's when I really got hooked on reading Webnovels, the stories people make, the worlds that are built. I loved reading them; I'm still new to reading webnovels, so I haven't read much. Neither have I ever written a story outside of school projects... but one day, I want to write a story and build my own world for others to read and we can explore that world together.


I just wanna end this by saying, I don't really hate any series, I just love to sit back and enjoy the story of an mc as it plays out. Be it action, adventure, fantasy, slice of life, romance, ecchi, and so on. I watched it all and enjoyed most of it, there isn't many series I'd give a rating below a 6-7 on a scale of 1-10. That goes with the manga and webnovels I've read.
