A young boy who is rejected by his village finds himself being taken into a loving home by two other orphaned children. Their caregiver "Master" raises them to learn how to be a Guardian and protect the world from monsters by using magic.

The morning sun shines in my eyes, waking me from a restful sleep. I sit up and stretch my tired limbs. I look out the window. Shoot! I was meeting Noy in the field. I quickly run to my wardrobe. I grab a green dress with black lace on the top. I grab my black corset and lace it up, I haven't had a handmaiden in years, so I learned to tie a corset, do my hair, and dress. I put in my undergarments, and lastly the dress itself.
I sit on my bed, lacing up my boots. I grabbed my brush and brushed my caramel hair, getting all the knots out. It naturally curled, in little ringlets, especially during the hot and humid summers. I put on a black sunhat and made my way downstairs.
I opened the small door in the back of the palace and ran to the field. He wasn't here yet, thank god! I sit down on the ground, the hellish flowers surrounding me. The sky was blue, with a few fluffy white clouds.
Off in the distance over by the sea, a few children from the village below, swam and played in the sand.
Mother and I would go down to the beach frequently during the summer, when Father was not busy he would join us, most of the time he was busy. I always enjoyed the beach, those are memories I cherish. Mother would sit in the sand, reading the recent book from her favorite authors or  Legends of the Broken One, one of her favorites. When Father did join us he would build sandcastles and play in the water with me.
I hadn't cried after her death, I receded into a dark place, doing things I regret. It hadn't helped that a couple years later, he died. I receded farther than I did with Mother,
"Why are you crying?" I snapped out of thought, startled by this sudden appearance. I wipe off my face, silent tears falling.
"Memories of someone long gone," I look away from the children playing in the water, "Lets get away from these damn flowers, shall we?"
"No. You're obviously not okay. You're still crying,"
"It's nothing, Im fine," He embraces me, his body warm against my hand. I melted into his embrace. All the emotions I kept locked up for years, suddenly came like a tsunami wave. I melted into his embrace, sobs racking my body. My shaky legs gave out and I fell to the ground. Noy followed me down and embraced me, as the flood of emotions continued. Why must he always catch me in my worst moments?
He stroked my hair, as the flood receded, slowly but surely. My tears dried up, the violent sobs that racked my body slowed until they ceased altogether. We sat there in the middle of the flower field. Then a voice sounded out through the field, just a whisper but ringing as it got closer and closer and louder and louder.
Follow the Path, Astrida, as the Elder destined you to do

Astrida has been surrounded by loss since she was a child.  She believes she is cursed to have all of those dear to her killed. Not wanting her Father to be killed, she runs away.

She runs into the woods and follows a trail of Red Spider Lilies. Which, lead her to someone she lost long ago and discovers new things along the way.

On March 30, 1820, Anna Sewell was born into a devoutly Quaker family. Her mother, Mary Wright Sewell, was a successful children's book author. Sewell was mostly educated at home and did not attend school for the first time until she was twelve years old. Two years later, she seriously injured both ankles in an accident. From then on, Sewell had extremely limited mobility; she required crutches and could never walk great distances. 

SAnna_Sewellewell resorted to using horse-drawn carriages for transportation. Soon she fell in love with horses and became deeply concerned about their humane treatment. That concern led her to undertake the children's classic Black Beauty. Sewell undertook the novel not for children, but for those who cared for horses. She said her "special aim [was] to induce kindness, sympathy, and an understanding" toward equines. But when Sewell began the novel in 1871, her health was already failing. At first, she narrated the story to her mother. In 1876, Sewell began writing on small slips of paper, which her mother would then transcribe. 

Sewell completed Black Beauty in 1877, only five months before she passed away. She did, however, live long enough to enjoy the book's initial success. Though Sewell finished only one novel during her lifetime, that book has survived as a wonderful literary legacy.

Sewell is one of many legendary authors who managed to publish only a single novel during their lifetime. Here are a couple more examples of such authors.

Edgar Allan Poe

One of the earliest American authors to embrace the short story, Edgar Allan Poe was a master of suspense and horror. He's credited with originating detective fiction and contributing to the evolution of science fiction. A truly prolific author, Poe was the first American author to earn his living (paltry though it sometimes was) through writing. Yet he only wrote one novel: The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket (1838). Jules Verne would later write a sequel in 1897 called An Anarctic Mystery, but also known as The Sphinx of the Ice Fields. 

Emily Brontë
Like her sisters, Emily Brontë originally published under a more androgynous pseudonym. When Wuthering Heights was published in 1847, it bore the name of Ellis Bell. The novel met with mixed reviews from critics, who mostly found the book unbelievable and even scandalous. In a later edition, Charlotte Brontë wrote a preface to the novel, defending her sister's work. Unfortunately Emily would not survive to write another masterpiece; she died of tuberculosis only a year after Wuthering Heights was published. 

Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde wrote plenty of plays and poetry, but The Picture of Dorian Gray (1890) would be his only novel. It didn't win Wilde any friends with literary critics, who called the novel everything from "effeminate" to "unclean." Always eager to please, Wilde revised the novel but directed the rest of his energies to plays and poetry. During Wilde's lifetime, he would be best known for these, but it was Dorian Gray that earned Wilde a place in the literary canon. 

Margaret Mitchell
Margaret Mitchell had never wanted to publish a novel, but then a colleague expressed doubt that Mitchell could accomplish such a feat. Gone with the Wind was published in 1936, propelling Mitchell to the exact kind of fame she had wanted to avoid. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1957. 

Gone with the Wind has remained one of the bestselling books of all time. Mitchell, who hated being in the limelight, refused to publish another novel and had little time to reconsider—she died at age 49, after being struck by a car. Her novella Lost Laysen was published posthumously in 1996. 

Ross Lockridge, Jr
Though Ross Lockridge, Jr. has yet to become a household name, the author received considerable acclaim for his first novel, Raintree County, published in 1948. The book is often considered a Great American Novel, placing Lockridge in the illustrious company of legendary authors like Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway. Raintree County topped the New York Times bestseller list and was adapted for the silver screen in 1951. But it would be Lockridge's last work; he committed suicide only three months after Raintree County was published. 

Ellison_JuneteenthRalph Ellison
When Ralph Ellison published Invisible Man in 1952, it met with almost immediate acclaim. It won the U.S. National Book Award for Fiction in 1953. Ellison continued to write, hoping to match the success of his debut novel. But in 1967, a fire in his home destroyed Ellison's second manuscript. Ellison persevered, eventually producing a new manuscript that sprawled to over 2,000 pages. After he died, the manuscript was condensed, edited, and published as Juneteenth. 

Boris Pasternak
Boris Pasternak is remembered as a titan of twentieth-century poetry. It's no wonder that his attempt at a novel would be nothing short of spectacular—yet Dr. Zhivago (1957) was almost not published at all. The manuscript had to be smuggled out of Russia and published abroad. In 1958, Pasternak was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, and his latest novel certainly contributed to the Swedish committee's decision. Unfortunately the Russian government disapproved of Pasternak's perspective, and he was forced to decline the Nobel Prize under threat of punishment. 

Harper Lee
Since Harper Lee published To Kill a Mockingbird in 1960, it has become one of the most popular and enduring works of American literature. The novel earned the 1961 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and consistently finds its way onto school reading lists. In 2007, Lee was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her contribution to letters. Lee published a second novel the year before her death, but circumstances surrounding it are murky at best. Although Go Set a Watchman was marketed by its publisher as a sequel to Lee's magnum opus, we now know it was merely a rough draft for To Kill A Mockingbird. 

It's unclear why Lee never published again between Mockingbird and the release of Watchman, though she did spend several years on a novel called The Long Goodbye before abandoning the project. Lee has made another mark on literature thanks to her friendship with Truman Capote, whom she assisted in researching In Cold Blood. 

John Kennedy Toole
When A Confederacy of Dunces was published in 1980, it earned author John Kennedy Toole a posthumous Pulitzer Prize. The brilliant but troubled Toole had finished the novel much earlier. But the stress of consistent rejections from publishers wore on Toole, as did other aspects of his life. He committed suicide in 1969. The book was published thanks to the hard work of Toole's mother and has since been recognized as an outstanding work of twentieth-century American literature.

Beast Academy

Classroom

Beast Academy was where the clans sent some of there less talented children of their clan to train. They taught them how to use their unique powers, their abilities and most importantly how to wield chakra to it's fullest potential. The royal family were more independent and were trained in the palace, and most of the other clans trained their children personally and only sent children to the academy to have a presence there since after graduation these kids would be inducted into the Sacred Beast Army. That wasn't to say clan heirs and children of distinction didn't ever go to academy. The Lupus Clan had a tradition of holding yearly tournaments, the Crown would put itself against the subjects.

In one classroom, the leader of the branch family of the Lupus Clan Ramulis Lupus was sitting in front of a classroom filled with children. He was giving them a lecture of the importance of learning how to control one's chakra.

A student eagerly asked, "Ramulis-Sama, could you show us a jutsu."

The old wolf sighed and smiled, "This technique is one of my favourite and most versatile in my arsenal. It's called the Kage Bunshin no Jutsu." He crossed two fingers from both hands in a cross like fashion and spiked his chakra. In a plume of smoke, two identical versions of Ramulis stood on both sides of him.

The image began to fade and another one became clearer. Ramulis stood on a large pedestal in front of hundreds of people, he shouted, "For too long we have suffered under the frailness of the Royal family. They sit back on their hunches and let the proud Warriors of our Canine family get old, rusty and waste our potential to be great. They live lavishly while we have to work and serve everyday. They act as if our ancestors died for nothing! We didn't hide from the world to be gone forever! No we hid from Man's world to consolidate are strength and strike back at those who betrayed us! So I say no more! I say we take back what is ours and live how we should have. Instead of as Man's best friend we'll be Man's greatest enemy! We'll rise up and become the Kings we were destined be!" A roar of approval followed.

"Fenrir!" Robin's voice caused the Fox to jolt of out of his dream/memory viewing. He was getting more and more vivid memories as of late, he was learning things that he had never learned before. "Batman wants in the hall for a briefing. We have a mission."

'Finally!' Fenrir thought.

Fenrir followed Robin wincing slightly as information about the Kage Bunshin Jutsu flooded his mind as well as the variations that other member of the Lupus Clan had created. Fenrir had learned that he would get memories and information via certain cues, they were sometimes random but it was usually an object, a word or a place of familiarities. 
(*AUTHORS NOTE— so theirs no confusion.. while each clan could use chakra they all had different specialties the Lupus Clan, since wolves are pack oriented focused on strength in numbers, plus whatever their random demon trait from their blood was, do note Fenrir wasn't raised in the Lupus Clan so he END AUTHORS NOTE*)

"Isla Santa Prisca. This island nation is the primary source of a dangerous and illegal steroid, a strength enhancing drug sold under the street name 'Venom'. "Batman explained what the island was. He continued, "Infrared heat signatures indicate their factory Is still operating at full capacity, but all shipments of Venom have been inexplicably cut off." A holographic projection of the factory was showed to the team.

Batman turned to the team, he told them the missions objectives, "This is a covert recon mission only. Observe and report."

"If the Justice League needs to intervene they will. " Fenrir zoned out of the rest of the meeting. His HUD was accessing the League's database, he was currently reading files about Santa Prisca. They were not only the largest distributor of Venom but were suspected of money laundering. A grin graced Fenrir's face as he thought, 'Where there were drugs there was usually a large amount of money.' His plan was progressing rather well.

Fenrir saw the team heading off to the Bioship and Batman walking away, Fenrir asked, "Why us?"

Batman turned, replying monotonously, "I'm sure you'll figure that out." With that the caped crusader walked away. Fenrir's grin faded, Batman had been keeping tabs on him ever since he had invaded his room. When Fenrir returned back to the penthouse, he wasn't surprised to find the house was bugged and rather well. He would have shown it to Wonder Woman but considering that she was beginning to spend more and more time in Metropolis and only came to Washington when she had a diplomatic meeting or for their routine spar, he didn't really see the need.

Fenrir had observed the team on occasion and while still edgy were at least beginning to train more. Kaldur and Robin lead the team through a number of simulations whilst Fenrir monitored their actions and flaws. He wouldn't say that they were combat ready or even capable of working as a unit but they were getting there.
[Bioship]

"Drop zone A in 30." Kaldur stood up and pressed the golden trident on his belt, his usual red armour turned black. He said confidently, "Ready. " M'ggan nodded and the Bioship responded to her command, the floor in front of him opened and Aqualad jumped out into the ocean. The ship was already in camouflage mode.

A few minutes later they heard Aqualad, "Heat and motion sensors are off."

"Remote weapon systems are down." Kitsune's voice echoed through the coms. It was his plan to fly ahead, he breached the system by applying seals on his body that made him look as though he possessed no heat signature. "We'll rendezvous at Dropzone B."

M'ggan confirmed, "Rodger that."

She announced, "Dropzone B." They all unbuckled, Kid Flash pressed his chest logo of the flash and his colourful yellow and red suit turned black.

He looked at Superboy and said, "It's not too late to wear the new stealth tech."

Superboy replied coolly, "No tights, no capes. No offense."

"It totally works for you." M'ggan said dreamily. Superboy looked at her pointedly almost which caused her to continue nervously, "In that you can do good work in those clothes."

Kitsune's monotonous voice interrupted their little party, "Less talking and more moving. I am already at the rendezvous point." Megan and Kid Flash looked sheepishly as Kitsune ordered them to get down. Robin frowned as he buckled up, it appeared that Kitsune was already taking leadership of the team even if he had expressed to him privately that he doesn't want to command.

He remembered their conversation a few days.

[Training Room]

"You're improving…" Fenrir moved quickly to dodge two batrangs and caught one with his fingers. Robin charged at the older and much taller teenager and engaged him in close quarter combat. Fenrir showed his superiority by evading all of Robin's attacks.

Robin growled, "Are you just going to dodge."

Fenrir smirked, "You're not giving me a reason not to."

A timer went off and Robin almost kicked the floor in frustration. Fenrir said, "As I said you're improving Robin. "

Robin grounded out, "Clearly not enough."

Fenrir smiled, "This isn't about me anymore, is it?" It was more of a statement than a question.

Robin answered smoothly, "I was reckless and stupid when I was fighting against Twister. I should have utilised the team's abilities more effectively."

"It was a lesson like any other Robin. You learnt that even though you were trained by Batman that there are limitations to your abilities. This team doesn't have a leader…It doesn't have someone that can rally them at a single notice and as such it remains disjointed."

Robin looked at Fenrir with a curious expression, "So who do you think can lead this team. Batman told me that he saw you as a very capable strategist."

Fenrir shook his head, "I will not be the leader of this team. It will be either you or Kaldur. The others lack the focus and the strategical knowhow to lead a team through covert missions."

Robin smirked, "So you think I can lead this team."

Fenrir reciprocated the boy wonder's smirk, "We'll just have to see."

Flashback ended
BOOM! 
Kitsune sighs inwardly, "and there goes the stealth....idiot clone"

Bai jie had a great time talking to her. she had given great insights to medicine worked here. with different professions available of cultivators. some of them were Alchemist, herbalist, poison masters, Blacksmiths, Physicians, formation masters. From what the told him formation masters were the strongest because of their control of spirit energy is most precise the void rings were also made by the combination of a blacksmith and a formation master was the also the strongest profession she had known. one line of her greatly affected bai jie ' it is written in a book that formation master could even kill someone who is much stronger than them but it lacked the mobility.' 
" hey, grandma Ann is here " a little kid came running out of the wooden house. Then many kids followed with hurray sounds. 
" grandma who is this grandpa with you. " asked a fatty. 
Bai jie who was dreaming with open eyes suddenly felt like vomiting blood. he looked towards the fatty he had a cute oval face with big eyes. 
his clothes were ragged but his eyes showed confidence. Bai jie wanted to refute but he felt that this kid was right in a way he is in the age of old people technically. 
" fatty xiao don't say mean things. please don't get angry he is just a kid. " replied the grandma ann angrily. she didn't want bai jie to be angry he had provided resources for these kids. 
" I don't mind " replied bai jie forcing a smile. 
" ahh what a young grandpa. " said a little girl with an astonished face. 
Bai jie face twitched even more. 
" Everyone let's go in we have a guest. " there were 11 children there with 6 girls and 5 boys. 
Everyone looked healthy and fatty seems to be the boss here. 
Everyone moved into the house it was neat and clean. the walls were decorated with flowers and there were small mats and a single bed. The house had a very refreshing scent bai jie liked this place very much it was peaceful here. 
" I am sorry it's a small place," said the grandma ann. 
" no it's a beautiful place," said bai jie. he always likes remote and peaceful places.
" children this big brother will be staying with us today. " said grandma Ann. 
Bai jie nodded. he wanted to learn to read as soon as possible. but he also couldn't ask an old lady to teach him at night, can he? , bai jie sighed. 
"Grandma he can sleep on the trees we can't let him sleep with us inside right " that fatty spoke up again. 
Bai jie lips twitched even more. ' why is this guy against me so much. ' he saw a complicated expression on the old lady's face. 
" don't worry I am comfortable outside," Bai jie said modestly he wouldn't trouble the old lady. 
" He is right grandma look he must have lived on the streets very often. he is very experienced. " voiced fatty in a righteous tone. 
" but it's so cold outside at night. " this time a girl voiced in. Bai jie looked at the girl she was very shy not like other kids which were very open. she wore black clothes it was a simple dress. many other girls also voiced in soon the cottage was in chaos. They were arguing about where he should sleep tonight. 
" little Ming is right it so cold outside," said the grandma ann. 
" it's really isn't an issue," said bai jie cultivation allowed his body to regulate temperature through spirit energy. he activated his spirit energy and a faint light covered his body. and he said " look I won't feel any cold. " 
Bai jie looked towards the kids he thought these little kids would be amazed but he saw something completely unexpected. He saw that every kid had a frozen expression the little ming who spoke her lips were trembling. 
while the fatty which was getting on his nerves his mouth was opened but no words came out. 
Bai jie looked towards the old lady. She looked gobsmacked. 
" you are a cultivator," said the old lady. 
Bai jie was confused but suddenly he saw the kid's expression change. There was anger a hatred deep to the bones. 
" kill him he is one of them " shouted a boy.
The kids grabbed the things in the house someone grabbed stones and some grabbed sticks. 
The kids suddenly attacked bai jie a peaceful atmosphere suddenly turned in to the chaotic moment. Bai jie saw the little ming who was so good to him moments ago was looking at him with killing intent in her eyes. he could feel the coldness in her heart. 
" Milord please forgive these children I will return all the money I got from you please leave us," said the old lady. she knew bai jie had to leave as soon possible. 
Bai jie had seen a completely different side this time. from what he had known until now cultivators were respected people but why were these people fearing him so much. 
" don't worry I will leave no need for the money. I bought the books from you," said bai jie before he disappeared but he was still nearby he wanted to know the reason. 
for almost half an hour there was complete unrest in the cottage everyone had tear marks. 
The old lady was hugging the children. Bai jie was had activated his parasite vision the mental states of children were chaotic. There was despair in their eyes especially in the eyes of Boy and the Ming girl. 
" Grandma why did you bring that thing here. " asked the fatty xiao. he was much mature than others. 
" I never thought he was a cultivator. " replied grandma ann absentmindedly. She would never think a cultivator would come to her rundown shop to buy books. It was a completely ridiculous thought. She knew these children feared the cultivators the most because their village was massacred by evil cultivators which made these kids have a prejudice against the cultivators. but she respected those cultivators because her husband was one and these cultivators were the also people who would fight on the front lines to protect mankind against the beasts. 
" I have taught you not to attack those cultivators it was good cultivators this time but what if it was a bad one," said grandma there was anger in her voice. She felt that Bai jie was a good man a normal cultivator would never talk to a mortal like her with such politeness. 
" Everyone is the same those bastard cultivators think we are their slaves I don't accept it one day I will kill every one of them. " said the boy who had voiced in. he was around 12 years old had black long hair his facial features were handsome. he wore black clothes.  he ran outside in the forest. 
"xiao follow him, " grandma ann said to fatty. 
and the fatty ran outside to follow the boy. 
Bai jie who was observing never had seen he didn't have any idea what had happend in just a few moments.
Bai jie also followed secretly.

" brother ming stop " shouted fatty he was running at his full speed but he couldn't catch up to him. the distance between them was increasing every second. 
The fatty was running at his full speed after a few minutes they had reached a place it was what seemed like a graveyard. stone slabs were standing on the ground. Fatty xiao saw the boy. 
" Ming Jia don't you care about your sister why have you attacked he could have killed all of us. we are just mortals do you want everyone to get killed. " shouted fatty while breathing heavily. he was very scared when he saw bai jie spirit energy. 
" Brother xiao yan why don't we have the talent is it really how that guy said that trash would always remain trash," said Ming Jia in a gloomy tone he was looking at a stone tablet. 
" So what was he a god or something we will never give up don't forget about our goal. " said xiao yan. 
" it's been 3 years when every night I go to sleep I remember that day when like yesterday," said ming Jia he was clenching his fist so tight his fists were pale. 
" Listen to me you need to calm down," said xiao yan. he could see that ming Jia was very unstable. Meeting a cultivator suddenly had sparked his memories. 
" Just because those bastards can cultivate " Ming Jia smashed a first in the nearby tree. he knuckles started to bleed. 
" Ming Jia we are only mortals even if we want to do something we can't this is a limitation heaven has placed we can't change this. " said fatty with gritted teeth he knew that today ming Jia had to face it or he will do something incomprehensible. 
" Brother I saw it that day I followed them I saw them riping those people arms and legs before throwing them in container-like things. I felt fear even today it gives me creeps," said Ming jia his eyes were hollowed.
" That guy in the black clothes saw me but he didn't kill me he said ' Do you want revenge but the trash can only be a trash haha '. those words ring in my ears " said with a look of despair. " but today I finally saw one of them again even after all the practice result was the same even after using all our strength it didn't even scratch him. " 
" How can you be so sure that he was one of them, " asked fatty xiao yan. 
" I wasn't sure before but when he disappeared he was just like them vanished in the shadows," said Ming jia his eyes had unrestrained killing intent. 
Bai jie who was hearing felt like an idiot he was using that pattern even though he was using a modified version but the base was the same. He was using this pattern technique to freely without any constraint if this kid recognizes it others can too.

 Bai Jie a self-proclaimed evil scientist but not so evil who was researching on getting rid of the trauma he suffered when he was 15 which has changed his whole life. He didn't remember anything which led to this outcome but he became a genius of the century. 


As the people say no escapes the cycle of time. But something or someone changed his fate; it was no god or demon. It was an anomaly that has changed his life.

The both of them were practically propping up about half of the children's fairy tale industry in the country.

There were other children's literature authors. Many authors of fairy tales that people were familiar with when they were young had submitted their stories to the essay competition.
