Celestina woke peacefully from her undisturbed deep slumber. Yawning, she woke up and got ready for her school for her second day in Ralphydor school.
Soon she was met with her two new besties. "Hey, Jayden, Emily!" She greeted her new partners in crime.
"Hola, mi amigo" Jayden greeted her back. Emily shyly waved at her. Celestina chuckled, wrapping an arm around Emily and looked at Jayden. "I didn't know you could speak Spanish." "Ah, yeah. My family was of Spanish origin. So, I naturally developed a liking towards that language." Celestina hummed before answering "I like that language though I am not well versed in it" she shrugged.
Jayden was about to say something but Emily cut him off, "Leave about that, tell us about you!" Though Celestina noticed a small frown transforming into a grin on Jayden 's face she decided not to question it.
"Um...so, I have a little sister Charlotte, she is two years old and I have a brother who is sixteen years old. He is studying here. Um...I live about 35 minutes away from here and that's it about me."
"Ok. Now tell us about your hobbies and what all you like" requested Emily. "yeah, my favorite color is blue, I am a Potterhead and I love Rick Riordan's books so I like Greek mythology." Replied Celestina. 
"Is it so? Then let me test your knowledge on...Greek mythology first" Said Jayden. She chuckled before saying "Proceed"
"Name any five Greek heroes"
"Persues, Odysseus, Hercules, Jason, Achilles"
"Hmm, then which god is known as the divine blacksmith?"
"Hephaestus"
"Wow, You scored 100% in your greek mythology test. Now let's move on t-" "That's enough Jayden, you're not here to take Celestina 's tes-" "I know, I know Em, but this is just a, you know, a friendly fandom talk?" Celestina 's traveled from Emily to Jayden as they bickered and in the end, she threw her head back and laughed.
Once she calmed down she said "It's all right Emily" "See, it is ok for her" Emily stuck her tongue out at Jayden. 
"Ah, now, it's time for some Harry Potter quiz" Jayden said, rubbing his hands together and wiggling his eyebrows. Celestina couldn't stop but chuckle at the blonde in front of her. 
The day went on with the three new individuals bonding together in the name of friendship...maybe it's 4 and not three.

Part 1 - 500 Years Ago: Night of the Eclipse

The night begins to turn a reddish tone as the sun begins to cover the moon meaning that a small light illuminates the Volcano Popocaltepec. The light reveals a Golden Temple inside the Volcano surrounded by magma. The group appears outside the volcano and they see the small light falling to the center. As they go inside the temple they find the altar.

"The altar of the Gods" Montezuma says with a frightened face. The light shines and Montezuma continues to explain: "The altar that has been said in the legends that it requires the sacrifice of a believer, this is why we always sacrifice the prisoners of the other tribes."

"So it requires a sacrifice huh" Cortes says looking at Marina. He begins to walk towards her. However, Isabella pulls him away saying:

"You can't sacrifice her, she is important."

"Very well," Cortes says as he pulls out his sword and suddenly stabs Malitze in the back and with great force pulls her heart out killing her instantly. He proceeds in squeezing the heart making blood drop in the altar. The blood begins to form a circle in the center revealing a key that slowly rises.

"The Golden key, one of the seven is here." Isabella says with a great smile. Cortes is about to grab the key, however Montezuma pushes him and says to Marina:

"Marina pull the trigger and stop the key from forming."

Marina pulls the trigger making the blood to spill and avoids the key from forming.

"NNOOOO!!" Isabella screams as she grabs the key but it disintegrates in her hands.

"You bitch!!" Cortes says hitting her causing her to fall to the bottom of the temple. Marina begins to run jumping the magma from rock to rock exiting the volcano. Cortes begins to run after her but Isabella stops him saying: "Let her go, nobody will believe her."

The two men smiled saying: "Well no matter, now we need to concentrate in making this land under the control of Spain, Which is what we were pay for."

"Haha well the key will appear in 500 years so I must kill time." Isabella says as she laughs.

Morning rises and Marina runs back thinking: "Mis niños, they are waiting for me at the house, I told them that if anything happens we would meet at our home."

Marina encounters natives who begin to scream: "Traitor, get out of here you are not welcome!!" They begin throw rocks at her but Marina only runs to see her children.

The moment she closes in, Isabella seals her children along with the Aztec Gods and disappears with them. Marina arrives at her house but her children were not there. She begins to cry her names.

The conquest continues through the Aztec Empire, Cortes imprisoned Montezuma; the two conquistadores continue to lead the army killing everyone who opposes them. Until Spain, colonize the New World. Cortes returns to with Martin Cortes his son to Spain; he never returned to the New World multiple times but never looked for Marina or her children.

Marina walked around asking for them, but she never found them. The natives rejected her calling her "Traitor, La Malinche or La Chingada" she became an outcast and persecuted by those who saw her that night. For one year she walked through the night saying:

"AAAAYYYY MMMIIISSSSS HIIIJJJOOOSSS"

People began to call her "la Llorona" (The Wheeping Lady), and began to fear her. Her hair became white, her skin dried as a skeleton because she stop eating. Until the day she died however she never passed on. During the nights she walked around the country for 500 years screaming:

"AAAAYYYY MMMIIIISSS HHHHIIIIJJJJOOOSSS"

She takes away the children who were abandoning or she feels they need help and puts their souls in dolls so they won't suffer. The island where she lived once with her family became abandon and under the name: Isla de las Muñecas (Island of the Dolls).

Part 2- Present Day: Island of the Dolls

Uriel begins to cry as he heard the story of Marina. He lowers his head thinking about her suffering. He lifts his head with confidence and says: "Marina, I promise you I will take you to your children, you will see them again."

Marina smiles at him saying: "You have a pure heart boy, but such an evil Aura, whatever happened to you must have been tough."

"Believe me life has been difficult Marina but I'm trying to protect the persons I care about." Uriel says to Marina who closes to him and hugs him, with tears coming out of her eyes she says: "Thank you." Light begins to shine out of her and Uriel making it too bright that Marjorie and the kids cover their eyes. The light vanishes, Uriel was standing looking at the sky but Marina was missing. Uriel has her yellow eyes and tears flowing out of him. Marjorie walks slowly towards Uriel saying: "Uriel is everything alright." Uriel rubs his eyes cleaning the tears and turns to see Marjorie saying: "Everything is alright Marjorie." Uriel's eyes return to normal making Marjorie smile saying: "What happen to the ghost?"

"She's gone for the moment, but right now we need to return to the hotel and meet up with Katsumi." Uriel replies grabbing Marjorie's hand and says: "Come out Bella I can hear your soul."

Bella walks from the tree laughing, the white cat walks with her as she says: "Well done muchacho, you mastered the Rhythm Sense."

"Can you please take care of the children over there." Uriel says to Bella who replies:

"I'm not a babysitter you know, but I'll take them to their houses just this once."

"Thank you, now we must go" Uriel says as he begins to walk with Marjorie who is blushing because he is holding her hand.

"Wait Muchacho I can help you with that" Bella says opening a portal beneath them causing them to fall. Bella looks up with a crow and says: "Go and lend them your aid, we will watch from here okay"

The crow passes through the portal as well, Bella looks at the children and says: "Go to your houses" she opens a portal beneath them as well and sends them to their houses.

Part 3 – 5 Minutes before: Hotel

"Ahide" Xochitl wakes up and sees the others seeping. She begins to walk to the windows and opens it. Katsumi wakes up and sees Xochitl who is standing in the window.

"Xochitl wait" Katsumi says waking Alejandor and Johanna. Xochtils jumps of the window out of the third floor.

"XOOOOCCCHIIITTLLLL" Katsumi screams as she runs trying to grabs her but fails. Xochitls begins to fall but a black aura forms around her and takes shape of jaguar causing her land safely. Katusmi, Johanna and Alejandro run down in order to find her. Xochitl walks around the hotel and a black portal appear. El Muerto walks out of the portal and says:

"Come with me girl, Ahide is waiting for you."

Xochitl begins to walk towards El Muerto but Alejandro grabs her saying:

"No Xochitl wait."

El Muerto sees Alejandro and says: "You again, where is Marjorie."

"That´s none of your business." Alejandro responds, El Muerto with high speed appears in front of Alejandro and punches him causing Alejandro to fly away.

(BBBBOOOOMMMM)

Katsumi appears behind El Muerto with her Katana trying to slash El Muerto, he dodges it again and kicks Katsumi causing he to step back. El Muerto points at Alejandro and begins to forms manna in the tip of his finger.

"You are dead." El Muerto says as he releases a small purple beam towards Alejandro.

"AAALLLLEEJJJAANNNDDDRROOO" Katsumi screams. At that moment Uriel and Marjorie fall off the portal Bella made. Uriel grabs Marjorie and makes his sword appear, with great speed he reflects the beam causing it to fall into the water.

(BBBBOOOOMMMM, SSPPPPLLLLAAASSSHHH)

A great explosion appears in the water. "TEACHER" Alejandro screams as he looks at Uriel, Marjorie runs and hugs Alejandro saying: "Thank God you´re alive".

"Great to see you too." Alejandro replies crying. El Muerto extends his arm and says:

"Come with me Marjorie." Uriel and Katsumi stand in front of them with their swords.

El Muerto laughs saying: "No matter, you will come to me eventually." Xochitl grabs El Muerto´s cloak and both of them begin to disappear.

"Uriel I´m sorry" Xochitl says with tears in her eyes. Uriel looks at her and smiles saying:

"Don´t worry, I will come get you, just wait for me." Both of them disappear.

Uriel falls in one knee thinking: "Damn I am not healed yet"

"Uriel are you okay?" Katsumi says holding him causing Marjorie to frown of jealousy and Alejandro to laugh.

(CLAP, CLAP, CLAP)

Well that was fun Uriel, you sure like to get in trouble. Uriel turns around and sees Alexa getting of the limousine. Uriel with a surprised face says: "Alexa" leaving everyone confused.

Part 4 – Inside a Cell

"Where are we?" Dr Escobar wakes up looking at her six students. The three from France and the three from Spain are in a small cell. The two men from Spain and the two girls from hate are still looking with hate, however Ana and Antoine are looking each other and blushing.

"Don´t you dare cross to this side you salute" (Filth) Marinette says to the Spanish students.

"Well we don´t want you getting near, Sucios come queso" (Dirty cheese eaters) Crespo says to the French.

"What did you say" Marinette screams with anger. "You heard me" Crespo says making fun of her.

"Stop it you two, we need to work together if we want to get out of here." Ana says standing in the middle.

"She´s right we need to work a plan if we want to get out" Antoine says standing behind her.

The four others stare at them making them blush and say: "Don´t tell us you…."

"You can´t escape, if you try you will be burnt alive." Ahide says walking straight at them.

"AND WHO ARE YOU??" Madeleine asks Ahide. Ahide looks at the Spanish students with fury and says:

"My name is Ahide Martin Cortes, son of Hernan Cortes" The Spanish students look surprises saying:

"You liar, Hernan Cortes died five hundred years ago, how can you be his son"

Dr. Escobar walks in front and says: "I believe in you."

"Doctor, are you crazy, he´s lying" Ana says, and continues to speak:

"We are from the Cortes royal family, and the only son our ancestor had was Martin Cortes"

"Ay mija, you three need to understand that history is something that can be changed. There have been stories of Cortes leaving in the Island of the Dolls with two children. I believe that is you and the girl am I right?" Dr. Escobar says to Ahide.

"Yes that man was my father until he betrayed my mother and us 500 years ago and that makes me furious." Ahide replies releasing Quetzalcoatl, now with black feathers in his body, red eyes and feathers red and purple in his head.

"What happen to the Serpent?" Dr. Escobar talks with a worried face.

"This is the "Corrupt" form of a Deity." Ahide says as a portal opens and Xochitl comes out saying: "Brother" and hugs him. Ahide and Xochitl walk away with Quetzalcoatl disappearing. El Muerto comes out of the portal and sees the students and the Doctor. He begins to walk away saying: "Rest you guys, because tomorrow you will be sacrificed."

Ana drops into her knees thinking on what Ahide said. "Are you alright?" Marinette and Madeleine say to her trying to cheer her up.

"We need to get out of here students." Dr. Escobar says with the students nodding agreeing with her. The cage is revealed to be inside the Volcano Popocatepec. Magma sorrounds the place they are located  making it impossible for them to escape.

The fate of the world is about to Change as the only salvation for the future relies on the hands of a Substitute Teacher?

The following story is the first part  of an action, romance; comedy  and supernatural adventures of a young man who only wishes to have a normal life, however the contrary happened to his fate as he is about to witness the dark side of the world and how cruel life can be. This is the first part of a new original story . This gift was given to him by a mysterious figure in Mexican folklore who´s character is still a mystery. 

            I am proud to present this project to everyone who loves light novels and anime series. I hope in the future this story will be in the liking of all readers as it combines historical and mythical events, also copyright will try to be avoided as much as possible. The scenes and people that take part of this story are completely fiction.


"So how come you started Spanish in the middle of the school year?"
They were sitting at the kitchen table in Rupert's house, drinking coffee and eating crisps. 
"I'd been studying it on my own, secretly, and Auntie Alison found out and said if I was going to learn it I might as well do it properly and she gave me a few private lessons to bring me up to where the class was so I could do it at school."
Samantha raised her eyebrows. "Why secretly?"
"My mother didn't want me to learn it. My father was Spanish, you see, and I think it's all a bit painful for her, being reminded, you know."He frowned.
"Your father was Spanish? Why was? What happened?"
"He died."
"Oh God, I'm really sorry. I didn't know."
He smiled at her. "How could you? Anyway, it doesn't matter. He died before I was born, so I never knew him. Only I wonder, you know? I wonder about him. And nobody will tell me anything."
Samantha was staring at him, wide-eyed. "But that's really weird. Why won't they?"
"I don't know."The frown returned. It made his eyebrows meet in the middle. "I've always imagined it was to spare my mother's feelings. She never mentions him and there's nothing in the house about him. You know what I mean? No photos. None of his old clothes or things. I mean, everyone has things, don't they? Books, a cricket bat, a stamp album - something. But of my father - nothing. It's as if he never existed."
He couldn't believe he was saying all these things that he'd never told anyone before - and to Samantha Parkin of all people. In his fantasies about being with her, he never imagined he would be talking about his father. Actually, on reflection, he hadn't imagined talking to her at all, just burying his face in her hair and kissing her - and - other things. He closed his mind on that thought.
Samantha leant closer to him. "This is seriously weird. You're right. There ought to be something. It's like your mother is pretending he never existed. Why would she do that? Presumably she loved him. And, I don't know, it seems weird to me that she should never tell you anything about your father. Any child would be curious. It doesn't seem fair, somehow."
"It's not just her,"Rupert said. "Auntie Alison knows all about it, I'm sure. And I think Patsy might know something as well."
"Who's Patsy?"
Rupert grinned. "Another one of Auntie Alison's 'adopted' children. Except Patsy's not a child anymore. She's twenty-six now. She's doing a post-graduate degree in - guess what?"
For some reason Samantha didn't need to guess. She just knew. "Spanish."
"Well, you're really close. Romance languages, specialising in Spanish. She's at Granada University. But she'll be coming home for the Easter break and I've decided that when she comes I'm going to make her tell me everything she knows."
Samantha laughed. "How're you going to do that? Put her on the rack?"
Rupert frowned darkly and for a moment looked almost sinister. "If I have to."
For a moment Samantha believed him and gave a little shudder. He laughed and held his hands up. "Joke. I couldn't possibly hurt Patsy. She's like my big sister."
Samantha laughed along with him. "You have the strangest family. Nobody seems to be related to each other."
"I'm related to my mother,"Rupert said, "and lots of people call their parents' friends 'auntie and uncle', but Patsy's a special case."
He shut up and Samantha nudged him. "Go on."
"Are you sure you really want to know all this?"
"Dead right. Get on with it."
"Well, it's to do with friendship again. Auntie Alison had a really good friend who died and the friend had this niece who was Patsy. Well, Patsy's mother apparently was rubbish and her auntie, Auntie Alison's friend, had more or less brought her up, so she was devastated when she died. And Auntie Alison sort of took over. Patsy loves Auntie Alison."He paused. "And so do I. It was her who got my mother to change her mind about the Spanish. I don't know what she said to her but she convinced her to let me do it."
"What are you going to do with it when you've got it?"
"Well, I've already pretty much got it. I just need to practice speaking. But my plan is to find my father."
"But he's dead!"
"Well, maybe. But anyway I want to find out where he lived and how he died and - well- all that sort of stuff..."He tailed off.
He decided not to tell her about the dreams. He'd already told her more than he should have. 
Samantha sat back in her chair and studied him. He was quite definitely the most interesting person she had ever met. She couldn't imagine why she had been afraid of him. And then it came out, just like that. "Jones,"she said, "why are you always staring at me?"
"Because you are beautiful. I look at you because you are beautiful."
Samantha sat in her bedroom remembering his words, repeating them in her mind over and over again. It was hard to believe it had actually happened. 
An interesting, intelligent and ? let's face it ? drop dead gorgeous boy had told her she was beautiful. As he said it he had stretched out as if to touch her and then snatched his hand back almost guiltily.
She had just stared at him with her mouth open. She must have looked like a half-wit. Even her own mother never said she was beautiful. 
Then, as if he had said nothing of particular note, he went on to ask her about her family.
"Nowhere near as interesting as yours,"she had said. "Just me and my mum and dad and my little brother, who is a complete pain and the spawn of the devil."
 "I would have loved a little brother,"Rupert said sadly. 
"You can have mine,"said Samantha. 
Rupert grinned. "So what's so bad about him?"
"He used to be lovely when he was a baby. I used to read him stories. Now he spends all his time trying to get me into trouble. Yesterday,"her voice rose with indignation, "he called to my mum that I was hitting him and I wasn't even in the same room!"
"Bloody hell! The rotten little sod!"
Samantha felt like hugging him. It was so nice to have someone on your side. She could have talked about Nigel's vile behaviour all day, but Rupert changed the subject.
  



Jenny Twist was born in York and brought up in the West Yorkshire mill town of Heckmondwike, the eldest grandchild of a huge extended family.
She left school at fifteen and went to work in an asbestos factory. After working in various jobs, including bacon-packer and escapologist’s assistant (she was The Lovely Tanya), she returned to full-time education and did a BA in history, at Manchester and post-graduate studies at Oxford.
She stayed in Oxford working as a recruitment consultant for many years and it was there that she met and married her husband, Vic.
In 2001 they retired and moved to Southern Spain where they live with their rather eccentric dogs and cat. Besides writing, she enjoys reading, knitting and attempting to do fiendishly difficult logic puzzles.
In July 2018 she won the Author Show TOP FEMALE AUTHOR Fantasy/Horror/Paranormal/Science Fiction award.

This book is a compilation of the three Mantequero stories: Mantequero, Disappeared and Sins of the Father; with the addition of two new stories: The First Mantequero and The Last Mantequero.


George assured to relay the true accounts of the story when evening comes. He said it is half-baked to share it during daytime due to the newcomers and there's still a lot of things to attend to. 

   A little while, a huge sound echoed from nowhere. It was a warplane mercilessly dropped down dozen-like killer bombs in the area not far from them. It made Magee covered her ears as she suddenly ran back to her place. It was such a desperate shocking reaction of a civilian like Magee. Out of pity George followed her instantly.

   " Hey...are you okay?" He was just standing outside her place and lean his chin on her round timber cubicle entrance door.

  " Why there's a lot of bombs horrendously being dropped today. Its destroying our place, too much. This destruction is really toying our habitat, our lives, everything that we have. What was our sin...we even did nothing over their power." She stoically whispered to him, terrified and deeply breathe while on her bamboo bed.

   Then there's a huge blast again and it's too close to their cave. The tremor eventually shook the gallactites ceiling and rocks beside the waterfalls. 
    George bowed down his head and so confused on how to comfort her from shedding tears. The new recruits and the rest of the soldiers we're just very still, waiting for the next attack.

   " Magee, everything will be alright when this war is over." George tried to talk to her despite her silence. 
   She looked at him and sighed.
. 
   After an hour, the deafening sound of warplane was gone and she signaled him to return to the new recruits on the table and reassured him that she's fine.
  Lunchtime came and Magee did not join with them. It was Albrecht who gave her three pieces of sweet potatoes and had it wrapped with green banana leaf. Unlike George, he entered straight and seated beside her without removing his apron. Since Magee was smooching her face on her knees while wrapping her tiny hands on her feet, Albrecht disturbed her so she can have her lunch.

   " Here, eat this. I've got some water for you too."
   George was just outside her place, looking at Albrecht trying to help. A little while, George signaled Albrecht to back off and give her a space. 
   In the kitchen, Albrecht was busy segregating and arranging the newly arrived stuffs while George was sitting down so silently. Albrecht got tired of waiting for him to talk yet George was staring to nothingness. 

   " Hi. Is there anything that I can help for you?" Albrecht asked and seated beside him.
  " Hmm, what if, I'll persuade her this early on the storytelling about Kabang that I promised to relay to her tonight." George glanced to Albrecht.
   " You're too softhearted on her. But I guess, it's also helping if you tell her what you know about Kabang, as well as Captain."
  " Hmm, not about Captain, we don't have any right to reveal anything yet. Besides, he's coming back for her. I'm just interested to entertain her about the controversial cave of Kabang. Who knows, she might take a bite of your sweet potatoes." 
   " Hopefully. Go then, don't worry about the men around, I can manage them." 

   He stood up right away and took a bath first before proceeding to see her. Still reluctant if she'd let him in, so he preferred to stay inside her  place, just beside the door which was approximately half a matter distance from her. He then placed a small bamboo chair he brought and smiled at her before looking at his watch. Its 1700 hrs and he felt she'd calmly get back on her bed too after taking a bath and sip the 'salabat' that Albrecht offered her.

  " Magee, how are you?"
  " Here, I'm trying to understand things. But what brings you back?" Magee smiled and asked.

  " The story I promised you. I guess it's nice to start this early."
   Her eyes rumbled in glee as she was still combing her hair and sat properly on her bamboo bed. She smiled like there'd be no tomorrow.
   " Wow...I'm so excited. Here, I'm ready to listen now." 
   " Whew! I'm a soldier Lord, don't know seeing myself sitting down here for a storytelling. But if this is helping I'm leaving to you my men for a while." He smilingly thought.
   " Yes, I'm listening now." She pressed her hands after putting down the comb. 
   " In 1917, Captain was assigned not for war but some local but official mission here in the Philippines and still, for some military purposes. His badge had gone through as far as his travel could go. So he reached Tikaban in 1917. Since Philippines is under the American occupation even until now there's always a joint force between the Filipino-American militia. But anyway, the Captain had found a great friend in Tikaban, and that's Sr. "Sibal" Siballio, a much respected personality in Tikaban. He was an educated man sprang from a well-known Filipino-American descent that turned out as native of this province and secretly writes several books. His hospitably welcome the Captain to his own house. While that time, Albrecht's father, a German Jewish refugee from Europe considered Tikaban as his hiding place and with her was his young Filipina wife, Albrecht's mother and two sons. Grandpa Sibal welcomed the five strangers in their house till there was an announcement of the global public health crisis on Spanish flu, otherwise known as "trancazo." According to history, this pandemic was worst among others because of its three-wave outbreak against Filipino people.  The first wave was sometime in May of 1918, seconded after the sixth month. Then the third wave followed on the third succeeding month. That time almost everyone in Katabata province, a neighboring province of Dabaw, Katabata was badly hit and the place was almost a ghost town, yes, almost 90-95 percent were ill. I don't know but, that same year, two countries had been in chaos if which of them was the exact spot where the flu originated. But let's go back to Albrecht's father's story.  Everything was a little better not until Albrecht's father went to Manila on March, 1918 to send a letter to some relatives who stowed away in Spain. He personally handed the letter to his Spanish friend who worked in a ship that was scheduled bound to Spain and stayed a night or two in the ship and when he was about to return here in Tikaban, he was charged of some kind of flu by the authorities that later found out that he has acquired the deadly Spanish flu. Due to some contacts of the Captain in Manila he immediately found out that Albrecht's father could not return anymore in Tikaban and that the American authorities started to include everyone in the family should be quarantined. Their family was identified as the carrier of the deadly Spanish flu in the Philippines. Due to that rumor, the Captain as convinced by a bachelor granpa Sibal who then both decided on not to wait for the authorities to locate the wife and children but to hide the family in a safe haven in Kabang. Lolo Sibal packed a lot of beans, nuts, root crops, sacks of salts, sugar and many more. He brought books and in short he brought almost everything in the cave that no one in the locals knew. The Captain also had no way out but to hide and quarantine himself since he had a travel history and similar house with the infected person.  Although, the Captain and Lolo Sibal knew that he may have acquired it when he went back to Manila. Some of the Captain's closest contacts also said that there was a rumor that there were a few angry Filipinos in Manila who would like to kill the family of the  infected German Spanish flu carrier. Though it was just a rumor spreading but the Captain had made a decision that later lost temporarily his career. 

     No one from the Tikaban locals knew that Sr. Sibal, the Captain, Albrecht's mother, Albrecht and Baldur secretly hide in the cave for twenty long years.

   " Wow...and then?" Magee got down from her bamboo bed and took right away the folded 'binandahan" empty sack, put it on the ground, comfortably sat on it and fronting George who was exhaustingly sitting down on a bamboo chair. At least he was moving his neck towards another direction, otherwise it's a grave stiff neck.

   " Do you really love to hear this story? It's so heartbreaking. I still have time to retract." George bowed down his head and smiled.

   " No, no, no....I'm here, I can listen. Hey, hey, Albrecht, good that you're here. Come, sit down here, c'mmon."

   Then Albrecht immediately moved inside and sat beside her.

   "Whew! this is so heartbreaking in my part. Facing you both is painful.

There was an embezzlement in the air for Magee.

 Can't even imagine how my sister cried when I told this story to her. Hmm...but this moment is more...I don't know."  George started to be teary eyed.

   " Why?" Magee asked her curiously.

   " Shh...Albrecht lightly slapped her hand. Just wait for his turn to speak. Keep silent."

   " You have just slapped me! George, Albrecht slapped me, did you see it?"

   " I can even slap you again and again. Quiet!" 

   " Shh...calm down. Enough. I will not continue if you're both noisy." George smiled at them.

Reluctant of her roots, a 20 year old Magee and a Captain's daughter - was sent by Lolo Sibal to UST in 1938 to study Philosophy. Way back then, Lolo Sibal was a survivor of the 1918-1920 Spanish flu pandemic and who was accidentally trapped , along with the Captain for twenty years in the legendary cave of Kabang. Interestingly, the Captain left to him the wealth for Magee's education and returned to the United States. In September, 1941 Magee has heard from a UP friend that the the war had to rise on December of the same year so she returned home empty-handed and stayed with her family. Without them knowing, her father, the Captain who survived has returned to the Philippines for another military mission on the same month of September, 1941 and assigned the 25 year old 1Lt. George of the infantry and the in-charge of the platoons in combat to take care of his daughter in whatever means. One day, during the early weeks of the opponents' occupation, one of its officials named Hakanori proposed to Magee through her mother and agreed for the wedding. Magee was against to it despite her multiple attempts to escape. Accidentally, the night before her wedding, she fell into the abyss nearby their house and found herself the next day that she was with the Filipino guerrillas together with the American and German soldiers. She noticed the Captain personally but only in a short encounter and there - he was gone. In the fight for freedom under the foreign occupation, 1Lt. George used a different tactic and studied very well the terrains and natural habitat of the place. He led the disarming of any opponents patrolling and collected all their weapons and uniforms, worn by Filipino guerrillas in disguising. He also applied sharpened bagacays in holes, pulleys, and ropes in all sorts, throwing rocks, powdered some poisonous plants and made antidotes, used herbs and root crops for their survival and even dug some exit points and tunnels all over just to reach the cave of Kabang. Alongside with Magee at war where he only started as his guardian through the Captain's request had smoothly twisted and subtly turned out that he became madly in love with her. One day...

I began to write the article for the newspaper.

                                     The unbelievable world of the doubtful Nagar. (Draft)

Italo Calvino in his lecture about multiplicity talks about the contemporary novel as an encyclopedia, as a method of knowledge, and above all as a network of connections between the events, the people, and the things of the world. This is a holistic vision of literature, is the belief that a book can cover all the reality, and is an apology to the aspiration to contain the universe in paper, in words. Within the examples that he gives are found the next authors:

Carlo Emilio Gadda: who sees the world as a system of systems, as a tangled skein of yarn where the simultaneous presence of the most disparate elements converges to determine every.

Robert Musil: for whom the knowledge is the awareness of the incompatibilities of two opposite polarities. One of this he calls exactitude or pure spirit while the other he calls soul or irrationality.

Marcel Proust: the network that links all things is composed of points in space-time occupied in succession by everyone, which brings about an infinite multiplication of space and time. The world expands until it can no longer be grasped, and the knowledge it´s attained by suffering this intangibility.

In Calvino lecture are also mentioned Goethe, Lichtenberg, Lucretius, Boccaccio, Novalis, Mallarme and Flaubert, all of them obsessed with the aspiration of an absolute book, one book about emptiness, about the void, about the universe, about the cosmos. They dream with the ultimate book, with The Empty Book of the World.

Noe Nagar tries to write this book and he called his work The Book of Sand. The edition that ends in my hands it´s the English version translated by E Renzi in 1918, the original —according to Renzi— was written in the legible parts in Spanish using Hebrew and Greek characters, and in the most obscure parts it was in a similar language to the Voynich Manuscript.

There seems to be no more copies of this book, neither translated or in the original. Also the existence of Noe Nagar it´s in the better case doubtful. In the brief preface of the book Renzi says that Nagar was surely Jew raised in family of rabbis, though, Nagar was not a practicing of Judaism, his beliefs were heterogeneous, he used to practice a kind of syncretic religion that —according to Renzi— Nagar made up mixing Egyptian and Greek polytheism with Semitic monotheism and oriental values.

Nagar personal god was Toth also known as Hermes Trimegisto or Mercurio. Renzi claims that The Book of Sand is Nagar compilation of the forty-two books that Hermes himself wrote and that contains everything. The book that Lowry let me has a hard black leather cover with a silver engraving of a half-moon and an Egyptian bird standing on it. The pages are unnumbered, there a thousand approximately. About the content of the book I have to agree with Lowry, it´s fiction, there are beautiful descriptions of unbelievable deserts of red sand in which you can observe and unforgettable view when the two suns are set. There is a classification of animals and plants that cannot be anything else that magical. The only thing that seems real in that book it´s the human story, though, it may be more accurate to say humanoid history. In the world that Nagar describes the humans are equally capable of greatness, kindness, horror, and suffering that in this world. In his book Nagar does not name any man, woman, or any land, there are kings, queens, servants, killers, plains, mountains, but there are not proper nouns for this. He wrote like a seer that seems to know everything but does not tell the details.

Everything in the world exists in order to end up as a book, and the universe is a library.

Upon entering the house, I quickly adapted to my new environment. Yet, I still stood up for my brothers. The first two months were spent playing video games. I was hooked on the Nintendo 64 by the end of those two months. Only to be quickly thrust into Pre-K at Hutchins Elementary. However, I made the foster parents promise me my brothers would be taken care of properly.

My school year was a blur until midway through. At that time, my teacher, who spoke only Spanish, was going to fail me in English. Yes, this writer was going to fail Pre-K because of an English grade level of 33. After that, my first moment of having a "Never tell me no" mentality showed up. Within a month, I went from never reading to completing the entire section devoted to Pre-K through 1st Grade at the school. Librarians became good friends with me. After two months, I was reading at a 2nd-grade level, and my teacher noticed my grade average was 99. To this day, I thank that teacher.

On the last day of school, I realized I hadn't made any friends my own age that year. And I was also sent to a psychiatrist. The foster parents had said I was having trouble adjusting, as well as having trouble sleeping. Thanks to both of those comments, and them telling my brothers and me to act overactive at the psychiatrist. We were all given ADHD and Mood Disorder medication. Among the medication was Seroquel and Lithium Carbonate. Both considered extremely bad for children but given after an intense discussion with the foster parents. And not just a low dose, but the highest that could be given for our ages. This would come to have major side effects.

The last thing I remember before the summer break was a gift I thought was impossible at the time, and I was the only person this gift was ever given to. I was told by the librarians and the principal of Hutchins Elementary that because I read the entire section for the next few years, I would be allowed to read books reserved for 2nd through 5th graders. This was the year before Percy Jackson And The Olympians The Lightning Thief was released. The year before everything started to get steadily worse at the foster home.

It was around 5:15 pm when I arrived.
The Kensington building looked dull with a little bit of fancy against the sun. Once inside, I saw the landlord, Mr. Gutierrez, sitting up front of his greeting desk. 

"Hello Elena" he greeted.
"My aunt doesn't come back from work until 5" I respond back.
"I just wanted to ask if you could give your aunt this letter" Mr. Gutierrez reaffirmed as he gave it to me. "Just don't tell her who's it from".
"Sure, whatever".
Mr. Gutierrez has been attracted to my aunt ever since he laid eyes on her. For a man in his late 30s, he sure looked like he was 50. He had grey hair on his sideburns & always wore a golden crucifix on his neck, not to mention overweight (not trying to sound offensive or anything). Generally, he's kinda of a grouch, but never around my aunt and I.
 I walked up the stairs, heading to apartment 47, the place known as my home. It was a fitting apartment for 2 people. 1 bathroom, 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, & a living room with carpet floor. I headed towards my room & placed the sphere under my bed.
"Sure hope my aunt doesn't find out about it".
The last time I brought something to the apartment was when I found a street cat when I was 8. The poor cat was lonely & I always wanted a pet. Unfortunately, my aunt hated cats, & Gutierrez had just discovered he had cat allergies. I was left with no option but to give away the cat. She told me he was going to be okay at an animal shelter she found along her path to work.


I hear a ding on the door, signifying that my aunt had just arrived from work. 

"I'm home!".
I let my aunt in & help prepare dinner. It was a simple Spaghetti & meatballs.
"So...how was your first day of school?" She asked.
"Fine".
"Any new friends?".
"I met a lot of my old classmates from last year" I respond while chewing on a meatball.
"Have you joined a club like I told you to do?" She asked with significance.
Damn it, I completely forgot about that.
"Clubs aren't actually starting until...next week" I lie.
Well that's good to hear" she response. "You have more time to think about which ones you want to join".
"Why are you obsessed with me joining some clubs?" I ask.
"Its for your own good" she points out. "You need to have a social life. I don't want you turning up like some dusty relic by staying all day here or at the library".
"I have my interests."
"Of course you do. You draw & paint,  you read who knows how many books, but that's not what life is all about, Elena!" She tries to explain. "My coworkers have their own children & you know what they do, they go out, they hang out, they have sleep overs, stuff that's real fun! Why can't you be more like them?".
"I don't know, because I'm NOT!?".
"That's why I'm asking you to change for once in a while" she kept on going. "Just try to act more like...a normal girl".
A normal girl?
What does my aunt know about being normal? All the time, I've tried fitting in with the groups and cliches at my school but nothing has never worked. Sometimes I want to yell at her & call her out for being upright ignorant. I love my aunt, but she doesn't bother to understand who I am. Girls at my school may love the color pink & talk about gossip & boys, but I would rather talk about...stuff that doesn't revolve around boys! Does she know that I would much rather play a sport than cheer for it? Or that I feel like I'm being forced to be Mexican barbie doll with a ribbon of perfection?

I went through the same usual morning as my aunt dropped me off at Gardner. I got more & more ridiculous notes on my locker as I hanged my backpack inside.
"CALICO GIRL" read one of the notes as I tore it off.
"The grievances of life itself" I began to mutter.
Out of all the names I found annoying, calico girl was the one that got to me the most. Being called after the ugliest type of cat a person could ever come in contact with, it sure feels insulting. Meanwhile, I had yet to get information regarding the clubs this year, & they're not so interesting.
"Now where do I begin?" I began to wonder as I looked at bulletin board for information.
Newspaper: Most the articles featured in the school paper look & feel dull because there's nothing interesting or new to report, and what is reported is just the average.
Chess: I joined in 5th grade just for the fun of it. Auntie wants me to be involved in other stuff so let's put that aside for a while.
Student Council: screw that.
Math Olympiads: screw that as well. I may be smart, but not that smart.
Environmental Club: sounds cool, but starts in March.
German: don't plan on visiting Germany.
Spanish: I'm already taking Spanish as a class, why would I still continue it though a club? From what I've heard, the club is either filled with a lot of white people or latinos who don't even speak Spanish that much. I'll think about it.
French: worth a try.
It was the only club left that got my attention, so I signed up for it. It's meeting was going to be next Tuesday, I better annotate that on my Assignment notebook. 

 Once I got to the history classroom, I found my friends in a little chat. I went towards my desk & sat there as usual. The only think I wanted to do at the moment was either take a nap or read Quijote. Mr. Klaus then appeared right before the bell rang.
"Attention class" he announced. "Today, we have a new addition to our class".
I looked up to see that right next to Klaus was the new student: a boy with dark blonde hair & fair, yet tan skin. 

"Hello, I'm Felix Griffin, I'm 13 years old & I'm glad to be part of the academy" he told the class.
"That's good to hear" commented Professor Klaus. "Now, why don't you sit next to...Ms. Cruz on the right".
Felix then sits on the desk next to me. He turns around to face me, with a smile on his face.
"Hello, I'm Felix" he greets me. "Pleasure to meet you".
"Elena" I greet back.
The professor then began class with more events that lead to the American Revolution. As I start annotating, I can't help but notice that Felix stares at me. The reason behind it must have been my eyes, who else wouldn't stop looking at a strange girl with strange eyes. I don't know why, but I get strange feeling about him, but not in a good way.

Elena Cruz is a nerd, an outcast, and a freak to everyone around her. She has no friends, a troubled relationship with her aunt, and to top that all, a pair of strange eyes. After finding a strange amulet, supernatural occurrences start to take place in her surroundings, revealing a deadly secret hidden from reality. As dark forces look for her, Elena will have to step up as an uncalled hero to save her world from Chaos.

Jamaica – 1990's
Meanwhile, Mathew Thompson was lying in bed on Ward 5 of the Spanish Town Hospital and was scheduled to go back into surgery at 3 p.m. He was in a pleasant mood as through his father's connections, he had two of the sexiest nurses in the hospital at his side. For some reason the ugly, foul-mouthed policeman was replaced by a petite, dark skinned corporal who had an ass that made him wish he was a decent law abiding citizen. She was pleasant and greeted him by name and introduced herself as Corporal Brown and for that reason he wanted to make it out of surgery.  She was the most pleasant cop he had come across and she chatted with him about everything and it made him feel special. She stroked his arm and looked at his drip bottle and wished him the best of luck and she looked forward to seeing him as soon as he was out of surgery.
Damian Thompson received a call at 5:30 p.m. from the Chief Medical Officer that the surgery went well, but while in recovery his son developed some complications and had expired. The phone fell from his hand and shattered; his only son had died and while he had sent others to their death or caused death himself, the news was devastating. The trouble came in threes as he heard that the two other stooges that clowned with his son had been found in a house in Montego Bay and had resisted the police and had been killed, and two assault rifles were recovered. To make matters worse his construction company was raided by revenue agents demanding to see his books. In one day his family was under attack from all angles. 
He was feeling disoriented and discombobulated at the same time and just did not want to hear any other sad news. He just wanted to curl up into a ball and hide under his bed. However, wishes never came through for people with his luck and he got a message from a birdie he had been paying at the police station that a Zone of Special Operation would be declared in his area by 6 p.m. In one swoop his empire was being dismantled around him and in his mind this bad luck started when he cheated on his baby mother 3 weeks ago. He needed to stop the crosses and at least take revenge on the man that started the chain reaction. 
Meanwhile back at the McNamara house, all was not well as Daniel McNamara sat on his veranda and watched the vehicles pass by his house. Dusk was fast approaching and none too soon as it was the end of a stressful and dramatic day. Marcus Dean had sent him a text to indicate a green light with a skull emoji beside it. A weight had lifted off his shoulder and it was as if the dark gloomy clouds that had hung around him and his family just started to dissipate. He felt happy and sad at the same time, but he rationalised that he had troubled no one and he was justified in his actions. 
The shape and form of his friend ACP Cowass appeared at his gate, butterflies rose in his stomach and gas erupted from his anus. He opened the pedestrian gate with the remote to allow his friend to come in. The click followed by the clunk of the gate closing arose the attention of the dogs and their incessant barking and howling at the back of the house annoyed Daniel. The flash of white teeth from the policeman displayed and then he heard him say,
"Sir Mac, I have great news, your problems seemed to have moved on to meet their maker."
"What are you talking about?" Daniel asked. 
"All three of the boys are dead," the policeman replied.
Shock crept over Daniel's face.
"Listen to this, God does not sleep; the Organised Crime Unit got an  anonymous tip this morning about two suspicious men in a house in Montego Bay, so a squad was dispatched and they met heavy resistance and when the smoke cleared the two dead men were identified and were from Spanish Town. To add to your fortune, it turns out the Don's son suffered a stroke after leaving surgery and died at 5:30 p.m. I should not tell you this but, the evidence that was collected on the scene along with your gun is also missing. The worst part about it is that the investigating officer who collected the statements never logged them into evidence and he too has been missing. I was advised that he went fishing over the weekend and has not been heard from since."
 Confused but excited at the news, Daniel could not believe his ears, 
"So, what does this mean, Cowwie?" 
"Well, for one thing, sleep on the same side of the bed that you have been sleeping because evidently someone up above has been smiling down on  you. It seems the evidence and the statements along with the investigator have just vanished. Therefore, your case will die a natural death. Technically, it's as if the incident never took place and there are only two things we have to deal with now. You remembered that conversation we had the other day, Sir Mac? Well, I am going to need a little contribution for my development.  Plus I want to see how we can get back your gun in your possession." 
Daniel nearly fell from his chair.
"Contribution! For what? I am already paying for security; we never agreed anything. I only enquired."
At this point his voice was raised and shouting.  
          "Calm down, Mr. McNamara. Do you really believe that all this just happened just so? The police man responded in a hushed tone.
"What the hell, I paid someone…"
However, before the rest of the words left his lips he remembered that he was evidently speaking to a corrupt cop and never wanted to implicate himself or Marcus Dean. In dramatic turnaround he whispered,
"How much you want, Boss? 
"Two fifty thousand can work for now, Sir Mac," the ACP replied with a broad grin across his oval face with snake like eyes.
 He knew instantly why crime could not be eradicated; he thought the ACP was his friend and the disappointment showed on his face. He was no different from the extortionists. 
"I don't have that amount in cash at home, will you take a cheque in your wife's name?
The policeman shut his eyes for a few seconds and then said,
"No, make it out to my little friend instead, Natasha Brown. You know how the thing set, Sir Mac," he said with a smirk. 
Samantha had heard the initial raised tones and came to the door,
"What are you boys arguing about? I hope it's not the wretched football again."
           "No, Dear. We just had a little misunderstanding, can you pass a beer for the ACP and my cheque book." 
"Cheque book!" she exclaimed.
           "No worries, Sweetheart. I'm paying for some bingo tickets," Daniel replied.
In their heated discussions Daniel or the cop noticed two men clad fully in black who had jumped the wall at the front of the house and taken aim with their rifles. Daniel never heard the first shot, but felt as if a hammer had hit him in his chest and the wind was knocked out of him. His feet wobbled and buckled below him. The other two rounds fired from Damian's M16 hit the policeman in his head and his death was instantaneous. Daniel lay gasping for breath and all on his mind was Samantha and the children; he was struggling to call her name as blood filled his lungs, mouth and nostrils. He looked around to see where the shots were being fired from, but all he could only make out were the silhouettes of two men as he passed out. 
Samantha was on her way back with the cheque book and the beer and upon hearing the first shot everything fell from her hands. She screamed out Daniel's name and attempted to run towards the veranda, but her legs failed and were behaving as if they were made out of gelatine. The two children were locked in their room playing video games and heard the sounds, but thought a car had back fired along the roadway, not knowing that the angels of death had just paid a visit. 
Meters away, I was unaware of what had transpired at my home and had been preoccupied with balancing the boxes of pizza and walking toward Rivoli. The three chickens hastily scurried out of my path as I skipped over the pool of stagnant water on Burke Street. It had been a long while since I was visiting this part of Spanish Town  and I realised why I had avoided it for so long. The streets were lined with potholes, the houses had become derelict and the zinc fences were toppled over, exposing the contents of some yards. The sky was cloudless, but I could not see the moon and it would have been a perfect night to hold Lisa's hand and even to kiss her on her lips.
I never even noticed the bike with two men clad in black hoodies with the pillion holding what appeared to be a guitar case riding by. 
Looking in his rear view mirror, Damian saw the young man walking with the boxes of pizza and said to his companion, 
"You know I would love a slice or two of pizza right now."
"Boss, can we go put away these two fire sticks before you think about food?" Rambo replied.
"No! Why bother? You never see the boy with pizza up the road, how you so blind, Rambo?"
Damian felt a sense of relief; he had taken the revenge he wanted and he got two for the price of one; the damn policeman was becoming a burden on his pocket anyway. He turned the bike in the road and rode towards the pizza delivery man. As he got closer and the pedestrian walked under the street light, Damian swore under his breath as he identified the face of the person. 
 "Rambo, nuh the rass bwoy that we a look fah and wi just kill him fadda?" 
"Yes to  fudge," replied Rambo, "mi a done him right yah so."
I was totally oblivious to what was happening around me; all I could think of was  the response I would get from Lisa when she saw me. My cell phone began to ring in my pocket, fumbling to balance the two boxes of pizza in my left hand and reach for the phone in my front left pocket with my right hand was awkward. 
Damian and Rambo got closer and saw that I was distracted and fumbling in my pocket and smiled at each other, thinking this was too easy.  
Finally, I was able to take out the phone and raised it to eye level. I realized it was Mummy and I hissed my teeth; she probably wanted to find out where I was. So, in order to avoid her, I rejected the call and breathed a sigh of relief as I felt as if I had dodged a potential bullet. The bike was almost on top of me by the time I realised what was happening. The first bullet hit the phone from my hand; the moment seemed so surreal and everything seemed to happen in slow motion. My brain was asking my eyes if this was really happening to me, but my body and feet reacted. 
"Shit!" Damian shouted, "How the fudge did I miss from such a close range?" but he was so anxious and focusing on the target he had pulled the trigger on the Glock instead of squeezing. 
The bike was still rolling forward when I threw the Pizza boxes at his face and with the typical reflex he ducked and twisted the handle bars at the same time into the path of an oncoming traffic. The last thing he saw was the headlights of the armoured truck and the sound of Rambo shouting behind him. "Gustave, I did not stop to see the result of the huge bang behind me; adrenaline poured through my blood stream and I ran and ran until I was breathless only coming to a stop almost a mile from where the incident occurred. I recognised the Bank on Burke Street and hailed a cab. Almost short of breath and trying to hear the breaking news of the shooting of an Assistant Commissioner of Police as well as a senior civil servant in Spanish Town in the upscale community of St. Jago Heights; somehow that was the least of my concerns, although based on my misfortune a short while ago and in my mind I did not know any Assistant Commissioners of Police. All I wanted was to reach my bed and not say a word to a living soul. 
As I  walked up Cherry Drive, I noticed the pretty blue lights in the distance, the night was cool, but my heart had still not slowed down, but the muscles in my calves felt as if they were about to explode. I thought that those lights seemed awfully close to home, but the police often patrolled my neighbourhood with their lights on with the notion that it scared away criminals. For some unknown reason, the avenue seemed extremely long and the normally pesky dogs were strangely quiet along the road, something big must have happened. My house was immediately around the deep corner and my feet ached as I drew closer, but my steps became more strident as I saw the crowd near my gate. What the hell! I thought when it dawned on me that it was actually my gate that was the centre of attention. The dreaded yellow tape was seen through the crowd when I began to sprint towards the tape. 
"Jaden! Jaden !"
I heard and then felt the firm hands of Mr. Brown, my neighbour. 
"Everybody has been trying to reach you for the past 30 minutes."
I wanted to tear myself away from Mr Brown's grip, but I could not, it was just too strong.
           "Something terrible has happened at your home, Son; you mother and brother and sister are fine, but," and I never heard the rest as I collapsed. 
I awoke two days later and struggled to identify my environment for a while; I thought it was a hotel, but the blood pressure monitor, the drapes and the smell of pine action made me realise I was in a hospital. There were nurses buzzing around my room and then I recognised my mother wearing dark glasses that covered her swollen eyes. 
"Oh, thank God," she said "I thought I lost you too, the doctors say you suffered a minor stroke two days ago, but I need to send you overseas for more tests. Your flight leaves later tonight."
I closed my eyes in an attempt to blot out the thought of what I had just heard, I tried hard to remember what happened yesterday or the last couple of days, but just could not recall. I must have faded off to sleep.
The news of the deaths of Damian and Mathew Thompson travelled fast through the grape vines of the underworld and Antonio Sharpe received the news with glee. All his loose ends had been tied up in one day. It was money well spent in his mind, the deaths of the Assistant Commissioner and Daniel McNamara were being investigated as a corrupt cop and his business partner being killed by their cronies. Jaden McNamara could not stay with such a cloud hanging over him and it meant that Lisa Whitman, the grieving girl who lost a cousin and an uncle on the same day, would fall into his hands. The guns found on the scene of the motor vehicle accident were linked to the Cancel Dem Gang and the double murder in St. Jago Heights. 
The way had been made clear for Antonio Sharpe to take over the reins of the Gang and reap the benefits of extortion and the pleasure of having Lisa all to himself now that Jaden McNamara's cellular phone had also been found at the crime scene. A bounty had been placed on his head by the new mastermind of the criminal network. Antonio wanted to become the don of all dons and straddled the corporate world as the heir to a major trans-national company built by his father. His tentacles knew no boundaries and only one family, the McNamara's, had the ability to connect the dots, if they got the chance to do so. However, they were now on the run from Jamaica. 
Samantha left instructions for the cremation of Daniel's remains and the lawyers would handle the sale of the house that they had lived in. There was no way she or her family would be setting foot back in Jamaica. Lisa Whitman and her mother moved from the neighbourhood and were provided a house that was owned by the Sharpe family on the outskirts of Spanish Town at a nominal rent. Their future would be secure as long as she stayed close to Antonio Sharpe and all her mother's dreams would be fulfilled. 
Amy, Mathew and I along with my mother Samantha boarded the plane in Montego Bay the next day on a nonstop flight to Gatwick Airport in London. Mummy and Daddy had always been prudent savers and believed in putting away something for a rainy day. The thunderstorm had landed on their doorstep and thankfully there was sufficient money in the bank account to take care of them for a while.  Mummy was a qualified radiologist and she knew that work would not be too difficult to acquire in the Motherland. Based on my good performance in university, I was able to finish my studies in England or maybe even on the continent. Dad's employee accidental death insurance policy as well as the several other policies provided a sizeable nest egg to ensure that the McNamara's would not struggle to provide a roof over their head or food on the table. 
I vowed that one day I would return to the land of my birth and reap my birth right, claim my girl and exact revenge on the person behind it all. I swore on the grave of my father that there was never an ill wind that blew anyone no good, but was sad that the tree of prosperity had to be watered with the blood of family or enemies in order to be fruitful. A sacrifice had to be made in order to seal the covenant and to receive the blessing. My father made the mistake of wanting to see his love interest and got caught making deals with corrupt people and ended up paying with his reputation and his life.

The middle class Jamaican family is filled with turmoil and guided by evil desires, while hiding the actions and plans behind this family’s mask of integrity and honesty. Despite their best efforts, the truth rises, exposing the sex, deception, love and death that maintain the secrecy of the Balaclava.
