On October 1, 1989, 43 women around the world give birth simultaneously, despite none of them showing any sign of pregnancy until labor began. Seven of the children are adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves, and turned into a superhero team in what he calls "The Umbrella Academy". Hargreeves gives the children numbers rather than names, but they eventually are named by their nanny robot-mother, Grace, as: Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Number Five (his only name), Ben and Vanya and Veronica.

The authors who get nominated from across the globe are selected on the basis of their reader base and acceptance in the literary world. Every author trues hard to win the 'Popular Category' because only this category can reflect the authentic global readers verdict. It reveals the content quality, value, and marketability of a book to other readers. This category is very difficult to win, as the decision-makers are real readers. The readers judge the book best. So only those books which get read by them makes it to the top in this category. It's the toughest category and the most authentic one.
Apart from that, there are also commercial categories, which may be complimentary. They are not based on readers decisions but on the discretion of the of someone magazines. They are given away in kind to encourage and not disappoint some privileged ones who are loyal to these magazines. The readers are never taken into decision and are chosen by the magazine authorities. Though this category doesn't have much relevance, but helps many upcoming writers to get their reader base commenced. It's a honorary appreciation that are given away in surplus to the participants. (These Categories are awarded normally to encourage participants and based on good relations with the home magazine). All award committees in the world keep such categories to keep their entity running. The world needs to uplift some upcoming writers too.

The long day of getting to know her roommates better had left Erin exhausted but she wasn't ready to fall asleep quite yet. She'd unpacked her clothes in the afternoon but had left arranging the rest of her personal items for when she had more quiet. It was a process she savored, putting the final touches on her own place when she was settling in somewhere new. There was something special about arranging her most important belongings in a new bedroom. 

She set her carry-on bag at the foot of the bed and pulled out her journal first of all. It was just a regular spiral notebook but because she wrote in it religiously, it was one of her most beloved possessions. She had given up on fancy, expensive journals after filling up the pages of so many, and had decided it didn't much matter what it looked like, as long as she was able to write in it. She set the journal on the little nightstand, next to the small lamp and alarm clock that had come with her room. She laid her favorite pen next to it and continued emptying her bag until the room had touches of home all around; a photo of her parents, her rosary, her stuffed Panda (Roy), her favorite perfume (Very Valentino) and her noise machine. Thankfully, she'd had the noise of the outdoors with her last night, she never slept well without the little gadget set to rainfall and creek sounds. 

She looked at the photo of her parents, and thought of the image tucked behind it-- the photo of her birth parents. It was the only photo she had of them but she cherished it. She kept it secreted behind the other photo because she didn't want to hurt her mom and dad; it also made her feel deeply sad to see the smiling young faces of the couple taken away much too young by tragedy. Erin sighed at the thought of the young pair and wondered about what Danu had said about them. What was their connection to Ireland, and what were they supposed to have told her about this so-called destiny. She thought on it a bit longer and couldn't understand how she could be of such importance that strange beings virtually kidnapped her and Olivier, and knocked him out. What if she'd never been able to study abroad? 

Growing up she had noticed that she always had a profound interest in Ireland but she'd never thought it odd. Other children would say they wanted horses when they grew up, some kids wanted to visit Disney World. Erin wanted to go to Ireland; she'd read anything she could put her hands on about it. Photo books about Ireland were her absolute favorite as a child--she was constantly checking them out from the adult non-fiction section of the library. Her parents had always encouraged her interest and so it had flourished. 

Had this destiny been that overwhelming that she had been transfixed on the Emerald Isle? She couldn't really say for sure, but she knew there was always some kind of yearning within her that drove her to constantly learn more about it. Finally, her bag was empty but for her three travel guidebooks-- one on Europe in general with listings of hostels and tourist attractions and information galore. The other two were, of course, about Ireland. Her favorite was the DK guide because it was filled to the brim with photos, historical information and everything she needed to explore every inch of this curious place. Simply thinking of the books' glossy pages made her anxious to look it over for about the 1,000th time. 

Just down the hallway, she heard Olivier finish in the bathroom and stole her chance to brush her teeth, take a quick shower and wash her face. Once that was done, she rewarded herself with her favorite pastime--reading and scouring the pages of her DK Ireland book and daydreamed about her next adventure until her daydreams slowly became actual dreams.

A young American girl follows her heart to Ireland where she discovers deeply hidden and unique connections to the island that she had never dreamed of. Upon arriving in Ireland to study, Erin feels something awaken in her she never imagined could be real.

"THERE'S SO MANY people out and about town!" Alice gasped, turning her head to follow a little boy that was holding onto a candied apple that had rushed past her.

"Yes," Wyatt beamed, his eyes pressed closed due to his smile, crinkling at the corners. "It's always rather busy in the capital of Gladiolum." 

A day after the ball, Wyatt had suggested bringing Alice around the town square to soak in the sights. He personally had to do a little shopping and thought that it would be a wonderful chance for Alice to grow more familiar with the capital. She had been living with the Ragans for nearly two weeks and yet she had barely even stepped out of the mansion's walls. It was best for young ladies to enjoy their time around town with friends. Being constantly cooped up in the study room with Charlie wasn't exactly an ideal situation in Wyatt's opinion. Of course, not that Alice had ever complained.

Strolling through the cobbled streets, Wyatt pointed out some of his personal favorite shops along the way. They passed by boutiques selling beautiful ball gowns, stores selling sparkling jewels, and even quaint little cafes that wafted out the sugary sweet scent of freshly baked pastries. However, while Alice acted as though she was very interested in those, he could tell that was all it was. An act. She simply smiled and nodded to Wyatt's words, not once asking to step into any of those stores like he had expected. Yet again she had him colored surprised.

Just the thought brought a curving smile onto his lips. The girl that his family had chanced upon was most certainly different from the rest of the girls in the capital. She stood out in such a way that there wasn't any spare place for the others to shine. She was the lone star now, a happy and proud resident of the Ragan household. While still suspicious of her origins, Wyatt couldn't help but admit to himself that he was growing fond of Alice Clemente.

"Are you not interested in any of the shops I pointed out?" He prodded. "Those are all famous names here in the capital."

"Oh!" Alice exclaimed. Wyatt watched with his practiced smile as the girl's eyes widened delightfully, eyelashes fluttering like a pair of butterfly wings under the golden sunlight. Her lips parted just a little in surprise before she quickly gathered back her wits, shaking her head politely. "They are all wonderful shops. I just… I don't have any money to buy all those things. Looking through the store window is more than enough."

For years Wyatt had worn the same smile on his face. It was his perfectly crafted mask made to shield his true emotions from the rest of the nobles. No matter what he felt inside, a smile was always the answer to dealing with those that had to be schemed against. However, every time Alice spoke or made one of her silly little expressions, he found his smiles to turn true as day.

"Let us go into that one, then." Wyatt pointed to a little bookshop down the street, a corner store with a gleaming bronze sign. "There are some things I wish to purchase."

Alice nodded. "Alright," she said.

Although her expression remained as still as possible, Wyatt still caught the slight twitch of her lips. The sparkles in her eyes practically screamed of her excitement. She couldn't fool anyone. Even the blind could tell that she was particularly eager to enter the bookshop. 

The little bell that hung above the door rang when Wyatt entered the shop. Inside, there were no other customers, simply a store clerk that had a book in hand. A pair of round spectacles rested on his crooked nose bridge, his eyes scanning the words at an immense speed before he licked his finger and flipped to the next page. At the call of the bell, the clerk looked up from his book, squinting at the door before rising to his feet. The book was placed pages-down onto the counter, a smile upon his lips.

"Master Wyatt!" The old clerk greeted enthusiastically. "I was wondering when you'll be visiting next. The books you ordered two weeks back are finally here." 

"Greetings," Wyatt replied fairly. "And thank you so much for your help with those. It's nearly impossible to find them anywhere else."

The old man waved, his cheeks reddening just a little. "It's no problem. Let me go get them for you." Shuffling towards the back of the shop, the clerk disappeared behind a dividing curtain.

"Do you come here often?" Alice asked, looking around the small bookstore with great interest. At random, she pulled out one of the books from the shelves, her fingers tracing the title of the book on the cover, feeling the indented words on the hard leather.

'History of Gladiolum. Volume III,' it read. Alice had seen a similar history book in Charlie's study room before. Making a mental note to briefly read through the contents of the book, she slotted the book back to its original position.

"Hmm, I wonder." Tapping a finger to his chin, Wyatt looked deep in thought. "I guess I do visit this store a little more than the average folk. They sell writing supplies as well as books and I run out of the former a little too often. Besides, this store is the only one in the capital that can procure rare and often out-of-print."

Walking a little further into the shop, Alice glanced through the assortment of reading materials offered. They had both fiction and non-fiction books in the store, leaning closer to non-fiction books. Most books were new copies, their covers still brightly colored while others were much older and encased in glass covers. Those books seemed old and tattered but the words were still in dark black ink, most likely having been re-written over so that it wouldn't be lost to time. 

The one that had caught Alice's attention was a purple leather-bound book that was almost as thick as a dictionary. The title of this book was written in bright, glittery gold in thick block letters. A small sign that indicated the price of the old tome was placed beside the book. Alice's eyes widened at the number of zeros, her head reeling back a little in surprise. She still wasn't sure about how the currency worked in Gladiolum but with so many zeros, the book was bound to be expensive no matter the exchange rate.

'The Theory of Magic. Volume I,' the title wrote.

"Are you interested in that one? Ooh, that's a pricey one." Wyatt's voice was right by Alice's ear, causing her to jump a little, her ears tingling from his breath. Stepping away, she held both hands to her chest, staring wide-eyed at Wyatt who looked as amused as ever.

"Just looking," she answered before firing back a question of her own. "How much is that book? I don't really know how the currency works here."

"See that symbol over there?" Wyatt gestured to the symbol behind the number as he spoke. "That's the symbol for our currency, 'fleuron'. That's the larger of the two units that we have in our country's currency. The smaller unit is known as a 'flois'. Ten flois equates to one fleuron. To give you an example of its value, five flois can buy you a piece of stale bread at the end of the day in the capital's cheapest bakery, maybe? Books, on the other hand, are usually five to ten fleurons, if it's a common title that can be easily found."

Alice gulped. Judging by the examples Wyatt provided, the currency here in Gladiolum seemed similar to the system she was used to. A single fleuron held as much value as a dollar back home and a flois would be around ten cents. Her hands were starting to feel clammy as she stared hard at the price tag of The Theory of Magic. 

"And yet this book is…" she trailed off.

"Fifteen thousand fleurons," Wyatt finished the sentence for her chirpily.

Fifteen thousand dollars.

Taking another step back, Alice no longer dared to hover near the expensive article. If anything had happened to it, she wouldn't be able to pay the store back for the damages incurred. She had never seen a book as expensive or even half as pricey. 

"Why is this book so… so…"

"Ridiculously priced?" Wyatt supplied. When Alice nodded numbly, Wyatt chuckled. "This is an ancient tome about magic. There are only five copies of this book that was ever produced. But if you're really interested in this book, there's no need for you to fork out such a hefty amount just to read it. We have a copy of it back in the mansion's library."

Flabbergasted and speechless, Alice blinked dumbly at what Wyatt had so casually revealed. Although she long knew that the Ragan mansion was a sprawling estate with many different needlessly fanciful rooms, she hadn't even thought to think that it might house precious artifacts within its walls. 

In Gladiolum, it seemed as though the gap between its people was wider than the ocean. The rich lived in heaven while the poor couldn't even afford hell.

"Why don't you take a look around the bookshop and see if there's anything that catches your eye?" Wyatt offered. "If we don't already have the book back home, I don't mind making a few extra purchases. It's the least I can do for dragging you out here with me on such a warm afternoon."

Alice's heart skipped a beat. She braved a step closer, momentarily forgetting about the book in the glass display case. Cupping her hands together as if they were in prayer, Alice beamed.

"Really? Any book?"

Wyatt's smile didn't falter. "There's no budget, if that's what you're asking."

Alice wasted no time. Her feet went scurrying across the dark wooden boards of the store, quickly scouring the bookshelves in search of any title that might help her or catch her fancy. Her fingers ran down the spines, quickly pulling out a few covers that had caught her attention, some fiction and some not. She had a feeling that most, if not all, of the non-fiction books were already available in the Ragans' library but there was no harm in bringing the books over for Wyatt to look through. These books will become her survival guide in this foreign world.

As the store clerk returned to the front counter, Wyatt slowly made his way over. However, he was still gazing in Alice's way, watching silently and bemused as the girl darted from shelf to shelf, climbing ladders and bending low in search of more. There were already over seven books in her hands and she only ever added more to the collection.

"My," the old clerk exclaimed. "I've not seen anyone so frantic for a good title since you first came to my humble store years ago. The old ladies at the bakery next block over will go mad once they hear that the young Master Wyatt is no longer single."

The white-haired man chuckled. "She's just a curious little bird my brother picked up a while back."

The old man shrugged, unconvinced, but he didn't say a word more on that topic. With a heavy thump, he placed three thick books onto the counter, the covers in the three primary colors. The titles were all written in gold, large block letters.

"This set was a little trickier to find as compared to your other requests but there you go. Though, Master Wyatt, don't mind this old man prying but are you sure you want to dabble in this subject? There's always a price to pay when you go against the laws of science."

"I can pay whatever price the world throws at me," Wyatt casually remarked. Picking up one of the books carefully with a gloved hand, he examined the old cover, grinning with satisfaction. "Besides, I'm just completing my collection. With these, the set will now be complete. There's no need to worry, sir."

"Oh well," the old clerk sighed, pursing his lips. "If you're sure, youngin. Let me wrap these up for you."

Tottering away, the elderly went to retrieve a few sheets of brown wrapping paper and some strings to bundle up Wyatt's purchases while waiting for Alice. 

Partially leaning on the counter, Wyatt continued to observe Alice. She no longer had the strength to carry the books she had picked out. Instead, she placed most of them on an empty table by one side. The stack of books was almost taller than she was and yet she continued to hunt for more, her eyes practically dripping with avarice.

'How peculiar,' Wyatt thought to himself. 'She is unaffected by fanciful dresses or glittering jewels and yet dusty old books can bring her into a craze. What an odd woman. She is most certainly a woman before her time.'

"I want you to visit me even if it's only in your dreams."

Gifted a candle that was said to be able to make wishes come true, Alice Clemente burned it that very night only to find herself in an unknown world the next morning. 

She had wished for a life of adventure away from the city and its routine. With her wish granted, she was whisked away to a world very different from the one she grew up in. 

Thrust into a new life, would Alice learn how to adapt? Or would she fall down the rabbit hole only to never surface again?

Candy was heart broken. Everything she believed was now coming into question. Each and every fragment of her memory wouldn't fit in anymore. It just wouldn't make sense. The books always wrote how love can make you feel like you are in an ecstasy, but she never believed that love could hurt her in a way she could ever have imagined.

She felt like all the happiness she ever felt was about to ear her up and backfire. Memories would never be the same. Instead of a sweet recollection, all of it turned into hostile throwbacks.

After the brief realization of everything, she suddenly felt a glimpse of reality. Dark clouds start to group together, thunder was heard. Small raindrops were falling from the sky in an increasing frequency. It felt like even rain was ruining her day.

Looking into the distance, she saw a quite nostalgic and familiar sign. "Library, Open" , the bright neon signpost lit. She quickly rain into the building. "Finally, a place that's full of peace, quiet and a  great way to retain homeostasis." she thought to herself.

After pushing the heavy glass doors of the library, what welcomed her was a very familiar setting. Each lighting from the yellow bulbs, the quiet and dead air of silence, the temperature of the thermostat, everything came into order. Maybe she could finally reconcile with herself again.

In a few corners into the library, she found her most favorite person and probably the one that could help her in this very moment, Ms. Ellen, her best friend and the university's librarian. Before they could actually communicate with each other without disturbing others, Candy and Ellen came up with a new medium of communication, they used post-it notes.

That jerk? I knew he was bad news from the start. What was the reason? - ELLEN
He said he never loved me - CANDY

Candy could feel her eyes swelling up again. She could feel each pressing emotion gripping and crunching her heart. She's starting to feel breathless. Her hands numb, her feet asleep. She stars recollecting her memories once again. Each moment pains her. Each promise breaking like shards of glass, pierces her heart.

Realizing she wants to be left alone, wanting to drown herself in a sea of books and to never come out again, she opted to leave Ellen a last post-it note.

Ellen nodded in agreement, signalling her that it's fine. She starts walking around, reading around the electronically lit signs of each section. Circulars aisle, Magazines, Non-Fiction, History, Geography, Engineering and her personal favorite, Fiction. She quickly starts to scan for books to read in the fiction section, under Romance titles.

As she picks up a book that piqued her interest, she couldn't help it but feel immense disappointment. She feels that all along, these books felt more fictitious than ever. She just couldn't feel the same spark she had felt before. She feels that each and every word was turning more abstract and incomprehensible as ever.

The line that separates fiction and reality was even more apparent than it ever was. In a last attempt to try reading the last few lines of the first chapter of the book she's reading, she closed the book in anger, disbelief and disappointment.

Maybe she wasn't just feeling like reading fiction for now. Maybe the story she read was superficial, or was too juvenile. It doesn't matter. All she knew was that romance just wasn't her thing for now. She just needed to read something that felt real. In an attempt to do so, she quickly walks a few more aisles past the fiction section, until she reached the room marked with "School Archives".

She never went past the door that guarded the room, ever. Maybe she felt that it was too rustic for her taste, or was uninteresting, but considering that the room was not for unauthorized personnel to enter was enough to tick her off before. Even while she was working in the library last semester, she never was assigned to clean or scout the area.

Now piqued with curiosity, she suddenly feels an exciting urge to enter. "Ellen wouldn't mind." were the words Candy used to justify her actions.

The door was guarded by an RFID system, meaning it required a recognized personnel's identification card to enter. As for Candy, she has had a duplicate authorized personnel's identification card after having worked in the library. She just forgot to return it, and in her defense, they never asked it back.

A quiet beep was heard signalling her that it was okay for her to enter the room. She scouts the area full of books, documents and newspapers collecting dust. After minutes passed, across an old corridor, she stumbled upon an old dusty box. Sunlight had barely hit it. It was covered below a stack of books as if someone tried to hide it. It had a motif of a daffodil's petals.

Beaming with curiosity, Candy slowly opened the dusty box, which to her surprise, was squeaky clean inside. A fragrant aroma wafts around the small area. Inside the box contained a book, entitled "Bridge to Terabithia" by Katherine Paterson. Possessing great knowledge towards books, Candy quickly recognized the book, while murmuring "Ah, a 1977 classic."

Exploring on, she realized that  inside the box, there were flowers. One was a dried Rose, another a drawing of a Gladiolus and the last one, was a frame of a Striped Carnations. On the side of the box were four envelopes with each a corresponding letter inside, all dating back to 1990.

Curiously, Candy opened the very first and the shortest letter, entitled; Daffodil.

Candy lost her hope in love. Major, her ex-boyfriend broke up with her after their two years of relationship. Once Li Mei accepted her first five star Quest, a window appeared below the minimap and shortcut icons displaying the quest name and its progress percentage. 0% in bright crimson text glared at her like an accusatory eye, taunting her with its lack of completion.
Her nose itched from the cigarette smoke lingering in the study, but she didn't let herself sneeze just in case the intruder was lingering in the hall. She edged out from under the desk, stretching one tingling limb at a time while listening for any noise that would send her back into hiding. 
Hearing only silence, Li Mei kept her vigilance while returning to a life of book piracy. By the time she left the study more than two dozen books were copied into the Archive. She earned 280 EXP total, just for downloading books! And nearly getting caught.
Li Mei slipped through the dark hallways, only to stop at a certain corner. She stared at a door in the corner, and after a moment she looked inside.
The storage closet 44 died in.
Someone cleaned it. No blood, no stained bedroll, no sign a child was killed there. Li Mei clenched her fists, mauve eyes flashing with a sinister light. 
 She hurried back to her hiding spot, her mind spinning. Someone else was sneaking around the house at night! Staff kept to such strict schedules she thought night was a safe time, but apparently not. And whoever killed 44 knew her body was gone. Did they assume someone else knew what they did and were hiding their guilty conscience from everyone else while wondering who took the body?
On top of everything, she barely had any general knowledge about the planet Elysium - just the basic stuff 44 knew. Magic existed, there were three moons, half the sky was occupied by the view of a large ringed planet, the sun was orange and the sky was periwinkle. There were 30 hours in a day, 10 days in a week, 40 days in a month, 16 months in a year. Elysium had four seasons just like Earth, summer and winter lasting five months each while spring and autumn both only lasted three.
That Li Mei could quantify everything she knew revealed how much she didn't know. Having so little information was infinite levels of frustrating.
Too much adrenaline rushed through her veins for her to sleep. Opening the Archive, she saw a list of books with foreign titles. Translating each book would cost 5 EXP, half of what she earned for downloading them.
Considering that earning the EXP itself was pretty easy putting aside the unlucky close call, she only hesitated for a moment before setting all of them to translate. Books were knowledge, and knowledge was power.
A tooltip explained book translation was limited by her base INT score, her comprehension of the written language being translated, as well as how common the language itself was. It would take fifteen hours to translate 100 pages of the saved books - and that was without her knowing how to read the language.
With an average page count of around 230 spread across 28 books, that was an estimated 6440 pages. Unless her math was horribly wrong it would take just over 14 of Elysium's 30 hour days to translate it all. Much faster than doing it manually, but still a long wait. 
140 EXP to download all the books, meaning she had a remaining profit of 140. Along with EXP she earned from the last ten days of Quests, she had 213 EXP total. The Interface used EXP like currency, having more could never be a bad thing. And seeing a number in the triple digits was a satisfying feeling!
Li Mei stared at the Quest tracker with a searing gaze that would burn right through lesser programs. 5000 EXP, 5000 EXP... But how in the world was she supposed to make any progress? Luckily there was no time limit on the Quest, indicating the Interface expected it to take awhile. 
The five star Quest was put aside in favor of information gathering she could actually complete. At night she slipped back to the study to copy more books while keeping alert for the intruder's return, and during the daytime she started sneaking through the passageways, creeping around corners and listening in on conversations between staff members. With 44's memories Li Mei was very familiar with the manor house and her body was recovering well, it wasn't a challenge to stay hidden from people who weren't looking for her. 
Most of what she heard was boring gossip. Who slept with that one guy again, which jerk was skipping work, who swapped shifts and why. Housekeepers discussed ways to remove stains and mold. The steward scolded people for wasting food or supplies and going over budget. The cooks discussed recipes, which got added to the Archive. Sometimes they mentioned places or events that also added themselves to the Archive.
Listening to small talk was boring, but sneaking around without getting caught was exciting. She started getting Quests for it: following behind someone while they cleaned the halls, going outside during the daytime, spending a night in the stables. 
Occupying the stables were creatures Scan insisted were horses. The basic shape was similar to Earth's horses, being four-legged creatures with broad backs and wedge-shaped heads, but that was all. Elysium horses had clawed feet, branching antlers, bat-like ears and four eyes situated in a way to give them nearly 360-degrees of vision. Thick furred ruffs protected slender necks from attacker's bites.
In addition to their physical defenses they had the inborn ability to sense hostile intent, attacking anything that came near with malicious thoughts. Li Mei frowned the first time she saw them in the stable, lazily consuming shredded feed that smelled of mint hanging from nets in the rafters. Elysium horses sure evolved a lot of defenses, which made her concerned about what kind of predators could eat them.
Before she knew it, Li Mei spent two months sneaking around the manor. She made good improvements in several regards but her physical base stats remained stubbornly difficult to raise.

She earned an INT point by reading translated books in the Archive when she wasn't training her body or sneaking around. Some of them were fiction novels which she ignored for the moment, while others were useful encyclopedias like she hoped. Learning about Elysium's flora and fauna served to reveal just how fantastic and dangerous the world really was.
Hide and Stealth leveled up through excessive practice, while most of her EXP was spent translating books and upgrading Scan to show more information. She was no longer classified as Malnourished or even Undernourished, but the Sickly trait had yet to vanish.
Li Mei was satisfied with some of her progress, but she still had no clues regarding her five star Quest or 44's murder. Collecting information without being able to use surveillance tools or ask questions was really difficult! It wasn't like murderers stood around discussing their dark deeds while lurking in conveniently shadowed corners, after all. 
Everyone behaved as they did in 44's memories, the same habits and work schedules, nothing suspicious at all. No one even talked about 44. As though she never existed. They just carried on with their lives, uncaring of the missing slave child.
Li Mei snarled. Hatred for these horrible people burned her belly pitch black. Condoning slavery was bad enough, but their treatment of a poor little kid...
None of them were innocent. 
Her body was almost completely recovered. All books in the study were copied into her Archive, including a big atlas she was excited to read the translation of. 
She no longer needed to be subtle.
Facing a bunch of grown adults directly was beyond her abilities, especially since she didn't know if they had access to weapons. The guards and their hounds could cause trouble for her too.
So, a heavy-handed yet indirect approach was required.
Li Mei stole several liters of vinegar, bleach, rubbing alcohol, and ammonia from the kitchen and cleaning closets. Large sacks of charcoal were stolen from the garden sheds. Charcoal was used to keep soil moist and suppress weeds, and increase carbon content of compost piles. The manor had vast gardens, so of course they had plenty of charcoal on hand along with copious amounts of fertilizer.
There was a drawer holding flame lighters in the kitchen, to light the old-fashioned wood stove used for baking bread. Inventory of them was taken every day, but Li Mei no longer cared about that. She stole a handful of the non-magitech lighters. 
Several bags of flour went into her inventory after checking to make sure the flour on Elysium was as combustible as the stuff on Earth, singing off her eyebrows in the process.
Finally, with her storage packed full of all the necessary materials, Li Mei was ready to begin 44's revenge.

Li Mei dies unexpectedly, transmigrating into the body of a nameless slave girl who was murdered in her sleep.

With the assistance of a game-like interface gifted to her by an unseen helper, she must fight in a hostile alien world not only for freedom, but for survival - and revenge!

"Cevin," my twin sister called out to me and I automatically looked back to see her. I was quite surprised that the book that I was holding almost fell from my hands. 

Both my sister and I work in the library as student assistants. Our father died because of a car crash and our mother on the other hand works as a call center agent. Her salary isn't enough for the three of us that is why my sister and I became student assistants. It's the least we could do for us; for our mother.

"Ma'am told me to tell you to go to the room at the back of the library. She wants you to look for the book titled 'The Last True Cowboy' by Kathleen Eagle," she added and I just nodded at her as my answer. My sister got some books and she went to her desk to fix the cards of the books. I walked swiftly towards the room to find the book I was asked to look for. 

I arrived at the room and turned on the switch of the room but the bulbs didn't light up. I turned on the flashlight of my phone and one by one, I looked at the shelves to see the book ma'am wanted me to get for her.

I saw different kinds of books on the shelves, with different genres made in different timelines. Almost all of the books here are books that aren't frequently used or borrowed. Old books, to be more specific. Fiction, non-fiction, old news articles, et cetera. Most of them are all kept here but the problem is, the books aren't all organized which makes looking for specific books difficult to see.

I also have the interest in reading books. I don't find watching television very interesting because it doesn't get me to use my imagination very well. In every book that I read, I like it when I get to imagine the worlds or the situations being described by the author through his or her character's senses. In this way, I get to make my mind active other than doing school works.

My index finger stopped when I saw the book I was supposed to look for. I pulled the book from the shelf but was a little bit startled when a black book beside it fell on the floor. It was opened when it landed and to my curiosity, I pointed at my phone to see what book it was. 

"Weird," I commented when I saw nothing written, drawn, or printed on its pages. I knelt down to further examine the book but when I came across its book cover, it even had no title. I got lazy returning it on the shelf so I just left the book on the floor. 

I went outside the room and went straight to my sister, Terra, at the main desk and sat beside her.

“Only those with great intentions can see this book and those chosen by the book will make its desired story… 
but you will never return.”
