Everyone knows fairy tales, they are read to us as children. Every fairy tale has a happy ending, or at least our versions do. This isn't an ordinary fairy tale, there is no 'happy ending', only lies and stories that make us believe there is. Follow the story of four teens that were about to start a war.

Sihwa had only seen [Watermelon] once in the live broadcast room, but she hated his domineering look a lot. It was one thing to come into the live broadcast room and only look around without giving any gifts, but what right did he have to act as if he was a lifelong mentor and point fingers at her? She felt like her unlucky streak had begun as soon as she met the person with that ID. From then on, practically nothing went well!
When she saw the ID again, she wanted to pull him out from the screen to give him a beating, then strip him of his clothes and throw him in front of the shop to show the public… However, the anonymity of the Internet made it impossible for her to do that, so she could only glare at the screen angrily.
"The host's angry look is so pretty! I feel like I need to change to a 4K monitor to make it more convenient to lick the screen!"
"Tut-tut! Every expression can be used as a wallpaper…"
[This Old Man Is Unrestrained]: "Continue! Don't stop!" *gave a hairy crab and left a message.*
Sihwa originally wanted to continue being angry––to use her glare to make [Watermelon] scared––but when she saw someone sending presents, she instantly smiled brightly.
There were also people asking her what city she was in; they could not tell from her accent, as she spoke perfect Mandarin but had the occasional weird Korean words.
She still remembered the instructions that Zhang Zian gave: she should not expose what city she was in––and even more importantly, she should not expose her specific location. Otherwise, if the Live Broadcast Platform found out, they might close her account. She did not mind that, but the problem was that, after her account was closed, the money other people gave her could no longer be retrieved.
Sihwa did not really understand why people were willing to listen to her read out fairy tales, but the reason was simple: listening to a broadcaster read fairy tales and listening to a broadcaster sing were not that all that different. In essence, the viewers still looked at the face of the host and listened to their voice. It helped, too, if the host knew how to act cute. Although she did not know how to act cute, her face and her voice were at the level that would crush any competition.
She took up a fairy tale book and cleared her throat. "What kind of fairy tale do you all want to hear?"
"I only want to hear the host speak more. Anything is fine."
"To be honest, I want to hear a horror story. I'm currently at a rest stop on the highway, so I desperately need to lift my spirits up…"
"How about The Seven Heroes and Five Gallants?"
"I want to hear **Pure… F*ck! Why is ** censored?"
For a short time, the audience's opinion was divided, but out of what the audience suggested, practically none were fairy tales––or at least none were the fairy tales she had heard of before.
[Watermelon]: "Anchor, aren't you cosplaying a mermaid? Then just read The Little Mermaid."
Sihwa did not want to acknowledge [Watermelon]. She planned on scolding him as soon as she finished broadcasting, but quite a lot of the audience supported his suggestion.
"The Little Mermaid? What book is it in?" Sihwa flipped to the contents page of the fairy tale book she was holding, but could not find that name. After all, the book she was holding was a compilation of Grimm's Fairy Tales.
[killme]: "Is the anchor acting cute? Although I have never read the story before, at least I know to find it in Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales."
[Split Second of Darkness]: "This fairy tale is quite famous, but I haven't read it before, either. I only saw the animated version by Disney, and I found it quite average."
[The Grim Reaper Is Here]: "Actually, the story itself is quite average. It's just a story about a prince and a princess, but the tragic ending is quite different from normal fairy tales."
[Sour Pineapple]: "Times have changed. Now it's no longer the prince and princess that's popular; what's popular is an overbearing CEO and a Mary Sue."
[Dragon Knight Yin Zhiping]: "I don't like Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales. All the fairy tales he writes are tragedies, like The Little Match Girl and The Little Mermaid. Why are books that are written for children written as tragedies?"
[Two Dogs]: "What the f*ck! The one who sent the bullet screen––you have the guts to say that? I saw the picture of you riding the dragon and I really wanted to tear the book at that moment!"
[Dragon Knight Yin Zhiping]: "Comical emoji!"
[Watermelon]: "Actually The Little Mermaid isn't considered a tragedy, right? I remembered that Andersen left this fairy tale open ended… He hinted that the mermaid had risen to the elfin world, which is much better than staying in the human realm with the prince and the greasy and crooked woman giving birth to a whole bunch of naughty kids, right?"
[Wind Maker]: "Haha, naughty kids must die!"
Sihwa noticed that particular bullet screen, even though it came from the ID she hated the most.
"Elfin world?" She became interested, and opened her mouth to ask, "What's with the elfin world?"
Most of the people in the live broadcast room were men, and even if they had read the fairy tale before, it did not leave a deep impression. For women, even if they had read it before, they were often more concerned with the mermaid's sad ending; they generally did not notice the 'elfin world.'
No one could answer her question, and the only person who seemed like they could answer, [Watermelon], became silent.
Horrible!
Sihwa had no other choice. She found Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, then found The Little Mermaid from the contents page. She flipped to the corresponding page.
"It's so long! And there are so many words I don't recognize!" She quickly skimmed through it. As if she felt discouraged, she wrinkled her brow; reading that fairy tale was going to be a really big challenge.
Of course, when she wrinkled her brow, many fans took a screenshot to remember the moment.
However, [Watermelon]'s words made her very interested, and she wanted to know what the 'elfin world' was. She saw that the audience's bullet screen mentioned that The Little Mermaid was a tale regarding a mermaid, which made her care about it even more. She did not see the ending of the Korean drama with the mermaid, but at least the fairy tale definitely had an ending, right?
"All right, then I'll start reading…" She cleared her throat once again, then began to read the story out. She talked slowly, as she stumbled over many words as she read. "In the faraway sea, the water was very blue, just like the most beautiful corn… flower petals…"
When she met words she did not know, she could only read them according to the Pinyin. She cared about the reactions of the audience, so she was not entirely focused. She would pronounce a word incorrectly from time to time, or she would entirely read the wrong word, which caused the audience to send bullet screens to vent about it.
However, it was precisely because she did not read well, and some of her mistakes were very outrageous that the story felt almost like a comedy. The most important thing was that she did not pronounce the words incorrectly on purpose, and her awkward and suffering expressions nicely incited the audience's desire to vent about her pronunciation. The bullet screen comments were very close together, and there were often people sending gifts.
Her timbre was beautiful––like the surging of clear spring water; like the dripping of water onto stones; like the rustling of tree leaves; and like the echoes of the tides––and her vocal range was shockingly large. No matter how picky a person was, they would not be able to find a problem with it.
Someone with that kind of voice and that kind of looks reading a fairy tale was enticing. She often made the audience members unable to control their smiles. Even if it was the morning with very little people watching live broadcasts, there were still a lot of people coming to her room from other live broadcast rooms.
She was unknowingly immersed in the fairy tale and did not notice that her number of fans was quickly increasing. As she was very concentrated, she got into the character of the female lead in the story. Although she often read words incorrectly, her voice already had emotions, unlike the emotionless and energy lacking voice she had at the start.

"Old and Young Story Club"'s rating actually managed to get second place?

The entire Literature Channel's office exploded into an uproar! Impossible! Absolutely impossible. This was what everyone thought by default! What sort of segment was "Old and Young Story Club"? This was a pathetic segment that had been lining the bottom or the second from the bottom of the rankings over the years. Even "Late-night Ghost Stories", which was even worse, could jump up to a ranking of around ten on the first day of a new novel. However, "Old and Young Story Club" had never managed to do so before. It's best result was 18th place! This was also because of an "explosive" special program on Children's Day five years ago!

Second? Listenership rates of 2.40%? And it had even exceeded a news-related program like "Entertainment Daily"? No one believed what they had just heard!

Wu Datao got angry for no reason, "Did you read it wrongly?"

Jia Yan also wished he had wrongly, "It's written...like this."

"Impossible." Tian Bin also did not believe. "Going from last place to second? It's obvious that such a thing is impossible!"

Jia Yan looked at him and was sure that there was a mistake, so he said, "If the statistics are free of errors, I can apologize to you."

"Alright, go check it." Zhang Ye was confident. This confidence came from trusting his story. Although he, too, did not know how the rating had suddenly jumped up by so much, he knew that this story was an impeccable classical masterpiece from his world. It could not be bad!

Jia Yan left, while others began to whisper.

"Is that true?"

"I’m pretty sure it's a mistake."

"I think so, too. If not, it would be too great of an exaggeration."

Zhang Ye accepted his apology and said with an educative tone, "There is no program that can't do well forever. In the future, your first reaction to a person's program having a good rating should not be of doubts and rejection!" Following that, he looked towards Wu Datao and Tian Bin, who had been the first to point out the error in the statistics. "Do you have nothing to say?"

Tian Bin naturally would not apologize. He pretended not to hear.

Wu Datao also did his own things, having lost all of his momentum.

It was like mandatory education! Everyone had to learn!

The woman quickly followed up, "My son and I have heard of ‘Little Bunnies Be Good’. His kindergarten even printed brochures about it. Teacher Little Zhang, so that story was written by you?"

Zhang Ye wiped the sweat from his forehead. He lifted the letters over and began reading. They were mostly written by parents. There were tens of them which were written by children. It was easy to see at a glance, as the characters were all crooked. They looked very innocent.

Everyone looked at each other, for they no longer had words to describe their current feelings. Back then, Zhang Ye had made the bold statement that "Old and Young Story Club" would not be taken off-air. They had not believed it, nor did they take it to heart. However, now, Zhang Ye had used his abilities and his program’s rating to make everyone shut up. Everyone even had a thought that they had never thought of before!

It's already in second place!

August 16, 2010, Monday, two days after his audition at the ROH Factory, is the start of Tayaw's third week in his online tutoring job. Only two weeks away from the end of his contract with the company, just in time for the start of the school term. This week, Tayaw is planning to really save as much as he can for future expenses. In his past two weeks, Tayaw had to tighten his belt to buy his laptop, guitar, digital camera, and his new IPhone4. It was a blessing that his parents already paid the deposit for his dorm, enough rent for two months. Starting this week, as arranged by him and his employer, his schedule at work will begin at 1:00 pm. Reason being is that he will start looking for a literary agent for his book in the mornings. He himself will not be enough to walk around Ouigab and other cities to look for a publishing firm for his books, if he wants to publish his books as soon as possible.
Getting up from his bed at 5:30 am, he opened his laptop and started posting notices to various job websites. After posting, he also looked up if there's an office of Writer's Guild of Teungeb in Ouigab City.  To his relief, there is. Ouigab is not only a university city, but also a hub of arts and music that is the go to place of artists and musicians from all over Teungeb, so finding a local office of the Writer's Guild of Teungeb is not surprising. Closing his laptop, he also double checked his manuscripts before shoving them in his backpack.
He already printed out the manuscripts of both pg-13 and general audiences versions of his Grimm's Fairy Tales. From his research on the internet, debut authors like him will usually get around 18000 bgc ($9000) as credit from the publishing firm, along with a 7% royalty from each book sold. Regarding the 7% royalty though, a debut author will not get a share of royalty until after the publisher earns back the credit they gave the author. In Tayaw's case, if he was able to successfully sign a deal from a publishing firm, they will give him a credit of 18000 bgc, and offer him a 7% share. He will not earn from his royalty until his fairy tales will reach a sale of 18000 bgc. The sales of the books after that will give Tayaw his 7% share.
After showering, he headed to his go to mom-and-pop restaurant for breakfast. While eating, he was checking his phone to double check the notices he put out. He also slowly mulled over the difficulty of publishing a book. Even though he has excellent works in his head, it's no use if he cannot publish them.
At 8 am, Tayaw arrived at the Writers' Guild office. It took him almost 2 hours because he also had to buy himself a card for the subway which he will use to get to the Writers' Guild Office. It was too far from his dorm that taking a cab will be foolish.  The reason he came here is to ask for a list of literary agents franchised and accredited by the Writers' Guild. After stepping through the entrance, he saw that all the tables in the office are empty except for the one closest from the entrance, occupied by a lady busy typing on her computer. 'Nelly C. Ley, Secretary' Tayaw read what was written on the glass name plate on the office lady's table. With no one else present, Tayaw headed for her.
"Good morning Ms. Ley."  Tayaw greeted the office secretary. The lady looked up from her computer screen to Tayaw, gave him a look from head to toe, curious what a kid is doing at the office. "Do I know you, young man?"
"No ma'am. But I learned of you from your name plate here." Tayaw replied. Understanding this, Ms. Ley asked "What can I do for you? Are you sure you're in the right place?"
"I'm currently looking to hire an agent for myself. I know this is the Writers' Guild, but I don't know where to look for an agent, so I came here hoping to get help to where to start looking." Tayaw replied.
The office lady raised her eyebrows at this. 'Either this young lad has written something good, or he's just too full of himself.' She thought to herself while considering entertaining Tayaw any further. Prompted by the sore feeling in her eyes, she turned off the screen of her computer to let her eyes take a break. "So, which type of writer are you?" Ms. Lei asked.
"I would consider myself an Author, ma'am. So I'm looking for an agent to help me look for a publishing firm." Tayaw replied.
"I can actually give you a list of our contracted agents right now." Ms. Lei said to Tayaw's surprise. Tayaw was about to think this was easy when he heard Ms. Lei's next words. "In exchange, let me take a look at your work. After all, I couldn't just give away names and contacts of agents if your work doesn't cut it." Tayaw found this request reasonable so he took out the envelope containing the children's' version, and handed it to the lady.
Ms. Lei opened the envelope and was disappointed at the title page "Grimm's Fairy Tales for Children – Vol. 1". Fairy tales in this world, although dime a dozen, are hard to write, and even harder to compete with the old fairy tales that already embedded themselves in the culture. She knew it was unfair of her to judge the manuscript without reading its contents, but she also knew enough that fairy tales are nigh untouched in the literary industry. With low expectations, she turned to the next page.
'THE FROG PRINCE - Long ago, when wishes often came true, there lived a King whose daughters were all handsome, but the youngest was so beautiful that the sun himself, who has seen everything, was bemused every time he shone over her because of her beauty. Near the royal castle there was a great dark wood, and in the wood under an old linden tree was a well; and when the day was hot, the King's daughter used to go forth into the wood and sit by the brink of the cool well, and if the time seemed long, she would take out a golden ball, and throw it up and catch it again, and this was her favorite pastime.'
Reading up to this point, Ms. Lei's low expectations were almost nullified by the descriptive quality of the story. In all the fairy tales she read, the fairy tales were never this descriptive using words. Most of the fairy tales she read are accompanied by pictures to set the scene of the story. Her interest piqued, she read on. As she read the story, she was again surprised with the emotion from the words, a quality she rarely found in fairy tales. Most fairy tales she read lacked the descriptive trait for emotions and the authors of those fairy tales relied on the adults who will read it to their children to put emotions into the story.
After reading the Frog Prince, she moved on to the next story, 'Cat and Mouse in Partnership'. 'Cat and Mouse in Partnership' was a story she liked better than the Frog Prince. Although it was bleaker, she found parallels of the Cat's cunning to the Mouse's naivety, with the reality of human society.

They had been late for dinner and so Broge asked a kindly maid to bring Diana a tray into her room. Diana's new supplies were neatly arranged inside her wardrobe. She spread a few floor cusions on the balcony and sat there admiring the twin planets. Tomorrow would be her first day in a new school, in a new elven school, in a new elven school inside a freaking palace. 

How did I manage to get here? 

Again, she wished Alex were here to keep her company. I am here in case you wish to talk. 

Diana jumped. The boy's voice - she should stop referring to him as the boy - Silvanus's voice was so clear, it seemed like he was in the same room. She'd been happy since his mind had not butted into her consciousness the entire day. It seemed the link between their minds weakened with distance so she could not hear him all the way out in the city. She tried to keep her mental chatter polite, uncomfortably aware that he could hear all the thoughts that bounced inside her head. She reached out tentatively with her mind, unsure whether what she was doing was correct but suddenly she could hear his thoughts. They were nervous, uncomfortable - like a small puppy that expected a rebuff. Thank you but I'd prefer to go to bed now.

Sleep did not come as easily as last night. She tossed and turned thinking about the next day, then finally, she grabbed a small torch and slipped out of her room. She kept careful note of landmarks like paintings and engravings for fear of getting lost in the vast maze-like palace. An owl hooted in the distance .......... and an answering hoot sounded beside her. She swung her torch blindly till it shone on a large beautifully engraved barn owl. 

"Whoaa you have voices too?" 

The barn owl blinked once but did not hoot. Then it took off and turned to the right at the end of the corridor. "Heyyy!" Diana followed it to the corner and found herself facing a heavily engraved wooden door. She looked behind her shoulder - this was probably not a good idea, there might be rules against children wandering around the palace at night - but she wanted to know whether it was the marble owl that had answered the hoot. She opened the door and stepped into .......heaven. 

Books! 

Books as far as the eye could see. Aisles and aisles filled with books of all colours and sizes; shelves bursting with them. Diana passed by aisles labeled Astronomy, Alchemy, Matter, Mystic Arts, Music, .............. and then her torch stopped at 'Fairy tales.' She scanned the titles - some familiar ones jumped out. Cinderella.........Beauty and the Beast............oh they even have- 

"What are you searching for?" 

Diana almost jumped out of her skin at the deep voice of Cironir. She turned around, mortified at being caught by the Principal himself. "I'm sorry.........I-uh couldn't sleep so I......" 

To her surprise, he smiled. "Curiosity is not a sin, child. Though I would like you to know that children are not allowed to wander the palace after dark, so next time, you can come look for a book during the day." 

"Yes, Herdir-sorry, Herdante," she said relieved. Diana was not the rule-breaker type and even though she would be staying here only for a while, she didn't want to be anything but a model student. 

"You may call me 'Teacher.' 

"Yes, Teacher." 

"Good. Now what kind of books are you looking for? Hmmm Fairy tales?" He chuckled lightly. "Shouldn't you write your own life-story and read it then?" 

Diana had raised her eyebrows and smiled wryly at the poor joke. "Yeah, cause it would be a fairytale. Uh-Good one." 

"Forgive me. I am trying to be better at cracking jokes. I've often gotten the feedback that my jokes about the alchemist and the radat tails are ........not amusing." He smiled apologetically. 

"I want to know the original stories. Herdir Broge said something about Snow White." 

Cironir picked up a thick red and white coloured book and handed it to her. "Then you should read this." Diana examined the cover of the book. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves..........talk about plagiarism, they didn't even change the name of the book. I hope you sued the Grimm brothers." 

"May I ask you something?" Cironir looked thoughtful. 

"Sure." 

"Now you know that you're a fairy. You have seen your birth-world today. I've watched incredulity on your face....... but not wonder. Don't human children wonder at fairytales?" 

Diana opened her mouth unsure of what to say. "Uh........ they do, they do." 

"They?" Cironir had caught the significant word. 

"It's....uh...... complicated." Diana sighed searching for a way to explain. "I've always liked fairy tales; Dad bought me all the storybooks. Well, minus the regressive parts, of course - the almighty prince come to save the damsel-in-distress. I liked them because of the beautiful visions they bring to mind. A simpler world where the greatest problems are solved by the wave of a magic wand. They're great places to visit ......... but they're not real. At least, they weren't to me. And now my mind is reeling because - turns out - fairy tales are real! Magic is real! How can something so completely illogical be real? 

Cironir listened to her rant, amused and thoughtful. "Child, let me ask you a question. What is magic?" 

"Uh.... uh........." Diana floundered. Hocus-pocus and abra-kadabra seemed like very childish answers at that point. 

"So you don't know what it is but you have branded it as illogical." Cironir smiled a light, knowing smile. 

"What do you call the greatest herald of progress on Earth?" 

Her answer was instant. "That's easy, 'Science.'" 

"And, in the beginning, what did the humans who did not understand science call it?" 

Diana raised an eyebrow. "You're trapping me, aren't you?" 

Cironir merely smiled bringing out the crinkles on the corner of his eyes. 

"They called it magic," conceded Diana. 

"Yes! For eons, magic has existed among us called by numerous different names. Essentially, magic is energy - in its purest, most ancient form. The energy that pulsates throughout the universe, breathing life into the engine of everything. We, the magical community, are those who have mastered the art of harnessing this energy using our minds. Humans have chosen to harness it via other matter." Cironir's eyes, lost in thought finally refocused on Diana. "Science is the medium of utilizing energy and magic is that energy - but both were called illogical by those who failed to understand." 

"Read it, child," Cironir gestured to the book in her hand, "and discover the wonder that you've not let yourself feel. Just because we understand something, we should not let the wonder of its existence go unappreciated." 

Cironir walked back till the end of the aisle, then turned around seeming to remember something. 

"Oh you want to know another name for magic? Some call it ...... God."

Diana laid on her belly under the soft covers, feet in the air and chin in her hands reading quickly. By the end of the book, she wanted to take back her earlier comment on plagiarism. The real story was nothing like the fairy tale she'd read. Unfortunately some of the Elvish words were not completely translated. Diana checked the glossary but it was for the English words. The book was one of those elven children read to improve their English. 

........ her face as white as snow, the fairy princess of the mountains was named Snow White........ And her step-mother, the Queen, ordered the huntsman to kill the fair Princess Snow and bring her heart as proof ........... The hunstman's dagger pierced the wild boar and thus he set the Princess free ........ "Reclaim your throne........" Hidden in the forest, in the home of the Original Seven, the Princess learned the tactics of warfare............ The persecuted elves took arms under the leadership of the fair Princess, following her into the worst civil war in the history of Earth...................... Seeing the failure of the army in sight, the Queen sent her last weapon, the sorcerer Rowan................ And as they met, the light of gold bathed the kingdom......... releasing Rowan from one spell as he fell under another........... For the Princess had found her Zareh ............... The wrath of the Zareh fell on the army .......... together, they cast a spell so bright, the Queen perished in the void of darkness ............ for love had united the Paire Cosantora .......... the most powerful spell of all.............. 

Human children could learn a thing or two from these fairy tales... Why were they changed.........Hmmm....... Maybe the Grimm brothers were afraid of being sued for plagiarism thought Diana sleepily as she snuggled deeper into her covers.

Being the best was normal for her. As effortless and easy as a breeze over still water. She'd successfully smoothed over the mishaps of her past in the minds of those around her to become the apple of their eyes. She created a perfect life through lies, deceit and a little help from her .................... abilities.

When Diana arrives at the magical city of Vorantia, everyone is afraid of her. Everyone except an elf with emerald green eyes. Why? What is her connection to this boy? Why can she hear what he thinks? Why can she feel what he feels?

As Diana is introduced into the world of magic, she discovers the secrets that this place holds. But some secrets are best left buried........

Her story is unfinished. Her tale untold. But then...... can a fairy tale be complete without a fairy?

He stared intently at her face for a moment and his eyes widened in sudden dread. "You-y-you're one of t-them??"

"One of who?"

"You're a s-spy!" The fear in his face now mingled with indignation. "Don't play games with me! I k-know who you're with! I - I - I'm not scared of you!"

"Look! I don't know where I am and I want to go home!"

"Gurgof!!" He spat. "You have the audacity to come here after what your people did to us! To me!" His tone seethed with bitterness. "Who else did you come to target? Who else will you take from me?"

"Relax, okay! I came here by mistake. Just tell me how to get home and I'll be gone." Diana put up her hands defensively, alarmed by the sudden change in the boy's demeanour.

There were angry tears in his vivid green eyes and his whole body shook with emotion.

"You will not go anywhere."

His voice was very faint.

"You will not succeed again."

His hands balled into fists.

"You will pay the price of their crime!" he screamed, before launching himself towards her.

"You see, I'm his fairy Godmother."

Everyone rolled their eyes at the mysterious man when they heard his so-called identity.
Who within the Pyno continent didn't know the story of Cinderella?
2 years ago when merchants started bringing in things from Baymard like crazy, the storybooks like Cinderella and Snow White were one of the first works of art to hit the Pyno continent.
Storytellers in high established bars and even those who told their tales on the streets all echoed out these Baymardian tales for their illiterate or unlearned guests.
And one could imagine that they made quite a fortune from it all.
Because even if someone was just a passerby, after listening to one tale, they usually got hooked and ended up sitting on the floor to listen to more tales from the storyteller.
And those who sat had to drop any amount of coins that they were willing to spare into a bowl if tgey wanted to continue listening.
Of course, storytellers who typically told their tales in high-end bars were also paid generously as well since they managed to pull in customers and keep them ordering and drinking more than they usually would. 
Additionally, actors performed plays on these Baymardian tales.
And even street performers gathered small children around a small box to act out the drama with sock puppets.
For sure, villagers weren't exempt from listening to these tales, as those who had to trade their goods in the nearby towns or cities soon got to hear of these Baymardian tales.
Empires also focused their attention on these stories and regarded them as wonderful books of literature and poetry.... especially the story of Romeo & Juliet.
And now, the upper echelons would belittle those who didn't even know such 'common' stories.
Women would gather around for tea parties and get a cultured storyteller to properly tell the tale.
Of course they would read it privately at their convenience, but at times it was more fun listening to them in groups.
And the funny thing was that these tales from Baymard seemed to never end.
Be it Grim adventure tales or even tales of Zeus and the Gods, there were just so many stories that kept many people fascinated.
Nonetheless, Cinderella was one of the first Baymardian books to hit the Pyno continent.
So it definitely intrigued the interest of the masses.
Even the kings and princes of several empires read it too, as well as studied how the nature of the book.
Of course, they were more concerned with how the pages and cover covers were made.
And what ink had they used in writing it?
The whole thing was revolutionary!
At that time, they read as much as they could because for them, it was better to know everything about this newly growing empire that seemed to produce several magical items. 
So with all that said, how could the men within the arena not know Cinderella's tale?

They rolled their eyes at the mysterious youth below and didn't for one minute believe his identity.
If he was a Fairy Godmother, then where were his wand and wings?
Please!
Who was he trying to fool?
But then again, maybe he was.
After all, he created pink smoke out of thin air and killed the bagwers within the smoke.
Nonetheless, some of them didn't believe that he just appeared in the arena like a fairy.
Nope! 
3 minutes was a lot of time for someone to jump down from the audience and assist the prisoners below.
In fact, they felt like the prisoners were in it as well.
Of course, everyone had their own crazy ideas locked up in their heads as they gazed at the so-called fairy Godmother who nonchalantly stood in the arena calmly.
Their Commander looked at the mysterious youth and scuffed.
"Boy!
Do you take us for fools?
Look around you!
Do you think that you'll be able to get out of here alive without our mercy?
I'll give you a chance to survive if you answer me truthfully.
WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?" The commander bellowed out angrily.
And instantly, the entire place fell into silence.
.
Silence!
Everyone's ears were perked up like that of a fox', as they truly wanted to know the real identity of the man below.
Even the prisoners themselves were curiously waiting for the youth's response too.
Henry didn't for one minute think that the youth was his Fairy Godmother.
If it were true, then why did he live such a miserable life till now?
The mysterious youth, AKA Landon, just looked up and smiled.
"Who am I?
Of course, I'm his Fairy Godmother!
But just to convince you all a bit more, let me all tell you a brief tale.
You see, far away, there was a magnificent kingdom called the Fairy Kingdom.
And this fairy Godmother was one of the inhabitants of that kingdom.
As a dutiful citizen, this fairy Godmother has been working hard all day long without rest.
The fairy Godmother ran up and down the fairy kingdom doing its best to better the kingdom in the long run.
So after a day of hard work, this Fairy Godmother thought that it would be rewarded with a good night's rest.
But who would've thought that its boss would heartlessly out more work on him?" As Landon spoke, his expression flipped 180 degrees over when he thought of how he had dragged his aching body all the way here.
Luckily, he had gotten an energy-boosting and muscle relaxing pill from the system.
So now he was much better.
Still, he was just annoyed that the system would just send him on missions without considering his feelings.
All he was saying was that the system would have told him a long time ago that Henry had been captured, so that he would've freed the guy while they were still on route to this base.
By then rather than fighting an entire base, would've he have fought a fewer number?
He felt like the system just lived to see him suffer a bit.
And that was just too annoying.

"In the end, this faith Godmother heard the cry of its child and decided to come to its aid.
So you see, I'm his fairy Godmother."
--silence-- 
The commander's lips quivered in rage as he looked at the snotty-nosed brat below.
"Good! Good! Good Mr. Fairy Godmother.
Since you've come to his aid, then I take it that you're one of them?"
"Of course!
What are you, stupid?"
'Bam!'
The commander hit his stony-slab before him and quickly stood up while pointing at Landon angrily.
"Good!
Since you want to die so much, then I'll grant your wish happily.
Men!
Get him.
Get that Fairy Godmother Now!!"

Edwina Knight had devoted her life to her studies. For nineteen years Edwina had spent every day honing her intellect and it had taken her very far. At twenty-four years old, she was now the Grand Historian. The King had appointed her personally, due to her exceptional performance at the Royal Academy. She was the first commoner to receive a role on the King's Court, made up of only his most trusted advisors.
Born in a remote village to the south of the capital, her parents were kind, simple people. Her father had worked as a stablehand and her mother worked as a maid for Baron Schloss. For the early part of their lives they had lived in the servants dormitory but after marrying and giving birth to Edwina, they had moved into a small house in town.
Together they raised Edwina diligently and they were happy. Edwina never remembered much from this time, but when she tried to recall this period of her life she felt nothing but warmth.
When Edwina was four years old, her father suffered an accident at the stables. A horse kicked him in the temple while he was checking the horse's hoof and he never woke up. Edwina was too young to comprehend what had truly happened. She remembered her mother spent many evenings crying when she thought Edwina was asleep.
After the incident, the task of raising Edwina became communal. Everyday she would travel with her mother to the manor. She would sit in the kitchen and watch the staff hustle and bustle. Sometimes other servant's children would come and visit and she would spend time playing with them in the kitchen's gardens.
When she was five she got her hands on a book for the first time. It was a particularly rainy and gloomy day at the manor. Her mother had left her in the care of the kitchen staff as always. She was supposed to stay there, eat sweets and stay out of people's way, but Edwina had always had a willful spirit. Her mother said she took after her father in that way. While the staff was busy preparing lunch, she slipped away and explored the manor.
She toddled all the way to the manor's library. Lord Schloss was only a baron, but he was a famous scholar. He had served as royal advisor to the king before the death of his wife. When he returned from court to the estate, he commandeered one of the manor's ballrooms and converted it into a library. This was decades ago but the servants still liked to gossip about their eccentric baron.
Young Edwina was awestruck when she saw the ballroom library for the first time. The room was filled with tall oak shelves. Rows of them created small corridors and hallways in the once open room. A large crystal chandelier hung at the center of the ceiling, the ballroom's original signature piece, illuminating the room.
She had no idea what the strange colorful objects lining the shelves were. She pulled out several and had them spread out all over the floor. Her stubby fingers traced over the pretty manuscripts with illuminated art. The pages would shine in the light and five year old Edwina could not get enough of it.
The Baron found her there amidst the books. The Baron was an older man in his late 60's and while once he had been a fierce stern man, time and loss had dulled his edges. His wife had died decades ago. She had been a kind woman who had borne him three children. The first child had died at the age of 6. The family mourned the loss, but the baron's wife never recovered from the loss. A few months after the child's death, she chose to follow him.
The Baron raised his remaining two sons by himself. The servants whispered about his parenting methods. He was always overly strict with the boys, pushing them both in their studies and in their physical activities. The boys left at the age of ten to begin their studies at the Royal Academy. The Royal Academy agreed to take them even though they were two years younger then the usual admission age. They never returned to the manor to visit.
The strict baron of yesteryear was no more. Loneliness had seeped into his soul. He became kinder to the servants, and all those around him.
He smiled at Edwina who was surrounded by books on the floor of his library and picked her up.
"Do you want me to read them to you?" he asked with a sparkle in his eyes. Edwina nodded fervently. She didn't know at the time what this "reading" was but she knew she wanted to know all about the strange objects she had found. He moved her over to a reading chair by a fire and picked up the most colorful book she had stolen from the shelves. It was a book about local fairy tales. He began to read to her, his voice steady and deep.
Edwina fell in love at that moment. Not with the Baron, but with books. As the Baron told her tales of kings and queens she touched the pages. She would look back and forth between him and the book while he narrated. He seemed to be getting these tales from the object. She wanted to know how to do it too.
When the story finished, she stared at him in awe, "How did you do that?" Her voice was hushed. She felt like she had witnessed magic at work.
"Do you want to learn how to read?" the Baron asked.
"Yes, I want to do what you just did." Her eyes were filled with sparkles.
"If you come here everyday at this time, I'll teach you."
Edwina couldn't form words. She just stood up in his lap and gave him a big hug. Her mother walked in at that moment. Her mother pulled her off the baron and apologized over and over. She scolded Edwina and told she wouldn't be allowed any sweets in the near future. But Edwina didn't care about sweets. She had just been promised something even better.

Edwina has made it her mission to improve the lives of all commoners through her position as Royal Historian. She has worked tirelessly toward this goal, but a group of powerful nobles called the Grand Peerage stands in her way, blocking her at every turn. 

Alexander Claiborne, the Duke of Ice, one of the most powerful aristocrats in society proposes a deal. He’ll give Edwina all she needs to take down the Grand Peerage, in exchange all he wants is her hand in marriage!?

lessons in the process."
Alex Bailey eagerly sat straight up in her seat. She usually enjoyed her teacher's lessons, but this
was something especially close to her heart.
"Fairy tales are much more than silly bedtime stories," the teacher continued. "The solution to
almost every problem imaginable can be found in the outcome of a fairy tale. Fairy tales are life
lessons disguised with colorful characters and situations.
" 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf ' teaches us the value of a good reputation and the power of honesty.
'Cinderella'shows us the rewards of having a good heart. 'The Ugly Duckling' teaches us the
meaning of inner beauty."
Alex's eyes were wide, and she nodded in agreement. She was a pretty girl with bright blue eyes
and short strawberry-blonde hair that was always kept neatly out of her face with a headband.
The way the other students stared at their teacher as if the lesson being taught were in another
language, was something Mrs. Peters had never grown accustomed to. So, Mrs. Peters would often
direct entire lessons to the front row, where Alex sat.
Mrs. Peters was a tall, thin woman who always wore dresses that resembled old, patterned sofas.
Her hair was dark and curly and sat perfectly on the top of her head like a hat (and her students often
thought it was). Through a pair of thick glasses, her eyes were permanently squinted from all the
judgmental looks she had given her classes over the years.
"Sadly, these timeless tales are no longer relevant in our society," Mrs. Peters said. "We have
traded their brilliant teachings for small-minded entertainment like television and video games.
Parents now let obnoxious cartoons and violent movies influence their children.
"The only exposure to the tales some children acquire are versions bastardized by film
companies. Fairy tale 'adaptations' are usually stripped of every moral and lesson the stories were
originally intended to teach, and replaced with singing and dancing forest animals. I recently read that
films are being created depicting Cinderella as a struggling hip-hop singer and Sleeping Beauty as a
warrior princess battling zombies!"
"Awesome," a student behind Alex whispered to himself.
Alex shook her head. Hearing this made her soul hurt. She tried to share her disapproval with her
fellow classmates but, sadly, her concern was not reciprocated.
"I wonder if the world would be a different place if everyone knew these tales in the way the
Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen intended them to be known," Mrs. Peters said. "I
wonder if people would learn from the Little Mermaid's heartbreak when she dies at the end of her
real story. I wonder if there would be so many kidnappings if children were shown the true dangers
that Little Red Riding Hood faced. I wonder if delinquents would be so inclined to misbehave if they
knew about the consequences Goldilocks caused for herself with the Three Bears.
"There is so much to learn and prevent for our futures if we just open our eyes to past teachings.
Perhaps if we embraced fairy tales as much as we could, it would be much easier to find our own
happily-ever-afters."
If Alex had her way, Mrs. Peters would be rewarded with thunderous applause after each lesson
she gave. Unfortunately, all that followed her classes was a mutual sigh of relief among the students,
thankful that they were over. "Let's see how well you all know your fairy tales," the teacher said with
a smile, and began pacing the room. "In 'Rumpelstiltskin,' what did the young maiden's father tell the
king that his daughter could spin hay into? Does anyone know?"
Mrs. Peters scanned the classroom like a shark looking for wounded fish. Only one student raised
her hand.
"Yes, Miss Bailey?" Mrs. Peters called.
"He claimed she could spin hay into gold," Alex said.
"Very good, Miss Bailey," Mrs. Peters said. If she had a favorite student—not that she would ever
admit to having one—Alex would have been it.
Alex was always eager to please. She was the definition of a bookworm. It didn't matter what
time of day it was—before school, during school, after school, before bed—she was always reading.
She had a thirst for knowledge and, because of it, Alex was usually the first person to answer Mrs.
Peters's questions.
She tried her best to impress her classmates with every chance she got, putting extra effort into
each book report and class presentation she was assigned. However, this usually annoyed the other
students, and Alex was often teased for it.
She constantly heard other girls making fun of her behind her back. She usually spent lunch alone
under a tree somewhere with an open library book. Although she would never tell anyone, Alex was
so lonely that sometimes it hurt.
"Now, can anyone tell me what the compromise was that the maiden made with Rumpelstiltskin?"
Alex waited a moment before putting her hand up. She didn't want to seem like a total teacher's
pet.
"Yes, Miss Bailey?"
"In exchange for turning the hay into gold, the maiden promised to give Rumpelstiltskin her firstborn child when she became queen," Alex explained.
"That's a pretty steep deal," said a boy behind Alex.
"What's a creepy old short man want with a baby anyway?" a girl next to him asked.
"Obviously, he couldn't adopt with a name like Rumpelstiltskin," another student added.
"Did he eat the baby?" someone else asked nervously.
Alex turned around to face her clueless peers.
"You're all missing the point of the story," Alex said. "Rumpelstiltskin took advantage of the
maiden because she was in need. The story is about the price of a bad negotiation. What are we
willing to give up long-term in the future for something short-term in the present? Get it?"
If Mrs. Peters could change her facial expression, she would have looked very proud. "Nicely put,
Miss Bailey," she said. "I must say, in all my years of teaching, I've rarely come across a pupil with
as much in-depth knowledge as—"
A loud snore suddenly came from the back of the classroom. A boy in the back row was slouched
over his desk and drooling from the corner of his mouth, very much asleep.
Alex had a twin brother, and it was moments like these that made her wish she didn't.
Mrs. Peters diverted her attention to him like a paper clip to a magnet.
"Mr. Bailey?" Mrs. Peters asked.
He continued to snore.
"Mr. Bailey?" Mrs. Peters asked again, kneeling down closer to him.
He let out another enormous snore. A few of the students wondered how it was possible for such a
loud noise to come out of him.
"Mr. Bailey!" Mrs. Peters shouted in his ear.
As if someone had lit a firework under his seat, Conner Bailey jumped back to life, almost
knocking his desk over.
"Where am I? What happened?" Conner asked in a panicked state of confusion. His eyes darted
around the room while his brain tried to remember where he was.
Like his sister, he also had bright blue eyes and strawberry-blond hair. His face was round and
freckled and, at the moment, slightly smushed to one side like a basset hound when it first wakes up
from a nap.
Alex couldn't have been more embarrassed by her brother. Besides sharing looks and a birth date,
she and her brother couldn't have been more different. Conner may have had a lot of friends, but
unlike his sister, he had trouble in school… mostly trouble staying awake.
"I'm so glad you could rejoin us, Mr. Bailey," Mrs. Peters said sternly. "Did you have a nice
nap?"
Conner turned bright red.
"I'm so sorry, Mrs. Peters," he apologized, trying to be as genuine as possible. "Sometimes when
you talk for long periods of time, I doze off. No offense. I can't help it."
"You fall asleep in my class at least twice a week," Mrs. Peters reminded him.
"Well, you do talk a lot." Before he could stop himself from saying it, Conner knew it was the
wrong thing to say. A few of the students had to bite their hands to stop laughing.
"I recommend you stay awake while I teach, Mr. Bailey," Mrs. Peters threatened. Conner had
never seen anyone squint their eyes so tight without shutting them before. "Unless you know enough
about fairy tales to teach this lesson yourself," she added.
"I probably do," Conner said. Once again, he spoke without thinking. "I mean, I know a lot about
this stuff, that's all."
"Oh, really?" Mrs. Peters never backed down from a challenge, and every student's worst
nightmare was that they'd be her challenger. "All right, Mr. Bailey, if you're so knowledgeable,
answer this question."
Conner gulped.
"In the original tale of Sleeping Beauty, how many years does the princess sleep before she is
awoken by true love's first kiss?" Mrs. Peters asked, studying his face.
All eyes were on him, impatiently waiting for the slightest indication that he didn't know the
answer. But fortunately for Conner, he did.
"One hundred," Conner answered. "Sleeping Beauty slept for one hundred years. That's why the
castle grounds were covered in vines and stuff because the curse affected everyone in the kingdom,
and there was no one to garden."
Mrs. Peters didn't know what to say or do. She frowned down at him, immensely surprised. This
was the first time he had ever been correct when she'd put him on the spot, and she certainly hadn't
expected it.
"Try to stay conscious, Mr. Bailey. Lucky for you, I used my last detention slip this morning, but I
can always request more," Mrs. Peters said, and promptly walked to the front of the classroom to
continue her lesson.
Conner sighed with relief, and the red drained from his face. His eyes met his sister's; even she
was surprised he had gotten the answer right. Alex hadn't expected Conner to remember any fairy
tales….
"Now, class, I want you all to get out your literature books, turn to page one hundred and seventy,
and read 'Little Red Riding Hood' quietly to yourselves," Mrs. Peters instructed.
The students did as they were told. Conner made himself as comfortable as possible at hhis desk
and began reading. The story, the pictures, and the characters were all so familiar to him.
One of the things Alex and Conner looked forward to the most when they were very young had
been the trips to see their grandmother. She lived up in the mountains in the heart of the woods in a
tiny house that could best be described as a cottage, if such a thing still existed.
It was a long journey, a few hours by car, but the twins loved every minute of it. Their anticipation
would grow as they traveled up the windy roads and through the endless trees, and when they crossed
a yellow bridge, the twins would excitedly exclaim, "We're almost there! We're almost there!"
Once they arrived, their grandmother would greet them at the door with open arms and hugs so
tight they would almost pop.
"Look at you two! You've both grown a foot since the last time I saw you!" Grandma would say,
even if they hadn't, and then would lead them inside, where a freshly baked batch of cookies waited
for them.
Their father had grown up in the woods and would spend hours each day telling the twins his
adventures as a kid: all the trees he'd climbed, all the streams he'd swum, and all the ferocious
animals he'd barely escaped from. Most of his retellings were highly exaggerated, but they loved this
time with him more than anything else in the world.
"Someday, when you're older, I'll take you to all the secret places where I used to play," their
father would tease them. He was a tall man with kind eyes that would wrinkle whenever he smiled,
and he smiled quite a bit, especially when he was teasing the twins.
At night the twins' mother would help their grandmother cook dinner and, after they had eaten, as
soon as the dishes were done, the family would sit around the fireplace. Their grandmother would
open her big storybook, and she and their father would take turns reading the twins fairy tales until
they fell asleep. Sometimes the Bailey family would be up until sunrise.
They told the stories with such detail and passion that it didn't matter how many times the twins
heard the same story. They were the best memories any child could ask for.
Unfortunately, the twins hadn't been back to their grandmother's cottage in a very long time….
"MR. BAILEY!" Mrs. Peters shouted. Conner had dozed off again.
"Sorry, Mrs. Peters!" he bellowed back, sitting straight up in his seat like a soldier on guard. If
looks could kill, Conner would have been dead from the scowl she was sending him.
"What did we think of the real Little Red Riding Hood?" the teacher asked her class.
A girl with frizzy hair and thick braces raised her hand.
"Mrs. Peters?" the frizzy-haired girl asked. "I'm confused."
"And why is that?" Mrs. Peters said, as if asking, "What on earth could you possibly be confused
about, idiot?"
"Because, it says the Big Bad Wolf is killed by the Hunter," the frizzy-haired girl explained. "I
always thought the wolf was just upset because the other wolves in his pack made fun of his snout,
and he and Little Red Riding Hood became friends in the end. At least, that's what happened in the
cartoon I used to watch when I was little."
Mrs. Peters rolled her eyes so far into the back of her head, she could have seen what was behind
her.
"That," she said with a clenched jaw, "is exactly why we're having this lesson."
The frizzy-haired girl became wide-eyed and sad. How could something so dear to her have been
so wrong?
"For homework," Mrs. Peters said, and the room unanimously slumped in their seats, "you are to
pick your favorite fairy tale and write a paper, due tomorrow, on the real lesson the tale is trying to
teach us."
Mrs. Peters went to her desk, and the students began working on their assignment with the little
class time remaining.
"Mr. Bailey?" Mrs. Peters summoned Conner to her desk. "A word."
Conner was in deep trouble, and he knew it. He cautiously stood up and walked to Mrs. Peters's
desk. The other students gave him sorrowful looks as he walked by, as if he were walking to his
executioner.
"Yes, Mrs. Peters?" Conner asked.
"Conner, I'm trying to be very sensitive about your family situation," Mrs. Peters said, glaring at
him over the frames of her glasses.
Family situation. Two words Conner had heard too many times in the last year.
"However," Mrs. Peters continued, "there is certain behavior I just will not tolerate in my
classroom. You're constantly falling asleep in class, you don't pay attention, not to mention you quiz
and test very poorly. Your sister seems to be functioning just fine. Perhaps you could follow her
example?"
It was a comparison that felt like a kick in the stomach every time someone made it. Indeed,
Conner was not his sister by any means, and he was always punished because of it.
"If this continues, I will be forced to have a meeting with your mother, do you understand?" Mrs.
Peters warned him.
"Yes, sir—I mean ma'am! I meant ma'am! Sorry." It just hadn't been his best day.
"Okay, then. You may have a seat."
Conner slowly walked back to his seat, his head hanging slightly lower than it had all day. More
than anything, he hated feeling like a failure.
Alex had watched the entire conversation between her brother and their teacher. As much as her
brother embarrassed her, she did feel for him as only a sister could.
Alex flipped through her literature book, deciding on which story to write about. The pictures
weren't as colorful and exciting as they had been in her grandmother's book, but seeing all the
characters she had grown up reading about made her feel at home, a feeling that had recently become
a rarity.
If only fairy tales were real, she thought. Somebody could wave a wand and magically make
things how they used to be.
