Gun-Ho waited two weeks before he called the co-tenant of that vacant lot he purchased at the auction, that was being held in tenancy in common. That co-tenant was holding 50% of the property interest in the land.
"Sir, I am the person who met with you the other day at your home, the one who purchased the other half of the property interest in the land that is located in Gangdong District. Have you thought about selling your interest?"
"I'm not selling."
"Sir, you can give a better life to your children with the proceeds you could make by selling it. Why don't you sell it to us at a reasonable price?"
"I said I'm not selling it."
"Then, let's do this. Why don't you buy my property interest then? To raise the value of the land and to fully utilize the land, we need to terminate the tenancy in common. That's another way to work out if you don't want to sell your interest."

"Sir, let me buy you lunch tomorrow. I know a restaurant close to your Sampung condo. A soft tofu stew is really tasty there. I'd like to see you there at 1 pm tomorrow. What do you say?"
"Suit yourself."
 
Manager Kang was listening to the phone conversation between Gun-Ho and the co-owner of the land. When Gun-Ho got off the phone with the old man, he asked Gun-Ho.
"What did he say?"
"I asked him to have lunch with me tomorrow and he told me to suit myself and hung up the phone."
"That's good. He meant okay about having lunch tomorrow."
"Do you think he would come tomorrow?"
"I'm sure he will. I will go with you tomorrow."
 
A mailman walked in the office.
"Is Mr. Gun-Ho Goo here?"
"It's me."
"We have an international express mail for you. Please sign here."
The mailman handed an electronic signature device to Gun-Ho.
It was from President Chinkkweo Seon of Jinxi Construction Company in Kunshan City, China.
"What did he send to me?"
Gun-Ho opened the mail and found 7-pages of A4 papers. It was the business plan of Jinxi Industrial Park.
"Business Plan!"
Gun-Ho started reading it until he realized that he had to refer it to a Chinese-Korean dictionary because there were so many Chinese words he didn't understand. Gun-Ho placed the business plan on his desk and Manager Kang asked after he looked at the document.
"What is this?"
"It's a business plan."
Gun-Ho tried to translate the business plan referring to the dictionary and then decided to ask someone to do the job for him; he didn't want to spend time in translation work. He then placed a job posting on a translation web community online.
 
Gun-Ho and Manager Kang went to the soft tofu stew restaurant close to the Sampung condo in order to meet the co-owner of the vacant lot in Gangdong District in the afternoon.
"He is not here yet, I guess."
Gun-Ho and Manager Kang sat at a table and drank a cup of water when the old man entered the restaurant. There was a man of sturdy build who looked like in his 40s, behind the old man. The man had a curly hair and beard, and he looked just like Ou-Joon Kim who was a film producer and the founder of the online newspaper—Ddanzi.
"Hello, sir?"
Gun-Ho and Manager Kang stood up and greeted the old man with respect by giving a 90-degree bow.
"This is my son."
Gun-Ho thought that he was the son who was acting at a theatre, and Gun-Ho and Manager Kang gave the son a 90-degree bow as well.
"We haven't ordered food yet."
"The popular menu of this restaurant is a soybean stew."
"Oh, really? Then would you like to have a soybean stew, a pork & soft tofu, and a mung bean pancake?"
"Suit yourself."
The dishes that Gun-Ho ordered came out; it was neat and nicely presented.
"Sir, would you like to have a glass of liquor?"
"No, thank you. I'm good."
Gun-Ho still ordered a bottle of soju.
"Why don't you have just one glass of soju?"
Manager Kang placed one glass of soju in front of the old man while offering just one glass of soju. The old man spoke while eating the food.
"This restaurant—Giwajip Soft Tofu is a family-owned restaurant and the current owner is the fourth-generation owner.
"Oh, really?"
Gun-Ho and Manager Kang simultaneously reacted with surprise to the old man's explanation. They both purposefully a bit overreacted. The old man seemed to like it and gulped the glass of soju that Manager Kang placed in front of him earlier.
"So, why did you want to meet with me today?"
"I came here to ask you again to either buy my property interest or sell your property interest to me."
"If I sell it, how much would you pay for it?"
"I purchased my interest in the land at 2981 million won. You can easily verify it with the court. So, I will give you 3 billion won."
"That's nonsense!"
The old man shook his head.
 
This time his son spoke.
"The previous co-owner was going to buy it for 4 billion won."
"4 billion is way too high. We don't have 4 billion won."
The old man raised his voice.
"I can't sell it below that price. Everything has its current market price!"
"Since you have retained the land for a long time, your tax for the capital gains won't be a lot. Once we buy your property interest at the price you suggested, the price of the entire land becomes 7 billion won."
"That land is worth the price. You can do anything with the land."
"If the price of the land becomes 7 billion and I have to spend an additional substantial amount of money to build a building there, then there is no payability for me. I will just have to assume that you have no intention to sell the land."

As Manager Kang said, the son cleared his throat by having a dry cough and the old man kept eating his tofu with a disapproval look on his face.
 
"Then, we will have to let you go here. If you happen to change your mind, you know where to contact me. Oh, there is one more thing. I already talked to the parking lot owner so he could send the half of the rent to us. As to the tented cart on the land, we will have to evict them because that doesn't look good on our land."
"You shouldn't evict them. They have been running that cart while serving food for a long time now."
"If you say so, I will let them stay. I've heard one of them is your nephew. Is it true?"
"No, he is just my distant relative."
The old man stood up to leave after he said it bluntly.
 
Once Gun-Ho returned to his office, he opened his email inbox.
"Wow, I have 30 applications waiting for me for the translation work."
Those applications were sent to Gun-Ho in response to his job posting to translate the business plan done by Jinxi Construction Company, which was mailed to him.
"They won't make a lot of money by translating this 7-page A4 paper, but still this many people applied for the job."
The applicants had a variety of background and work experiences. Some were college students majoring in Chinese and another applicant was a college teacher with a Ph.D. Some were Chinese Korean, and one was a Chinese Korean student who was studying in Korea.
"Okay, I will ask the applicant who received his Ph.D. in China and is currently teaching in college."
Gun-Ho sent the business plan that was to be translated to the college teacher.
 
The business plan for Jinxi Industrial Park looked good. They included an income statement in the financial section, which showed that the business would become profitable after three years. It also stated that an increase of capital stock without consideration would be possible.
"Increase of capital stock without consideration…"
Gun-Ho liked the idea.
"About whether the business would be profitable or not within three years, I will have to wait and see for three years; however, if they could increase capital stock without consideration, then I will make money. Maybe I should participate in the joint investor?"
 
Gun-Ho received a call from Professor Wang.
"Did you receive the business plan sent by the president of Jinxi Construction Company?"
"Yes, I did."
"If you are still interested in it, let's sign on the letter of intent. Oh, and the staff of the City of Kunshan and the staff of Jinxi Construction Company will visit Korea soon to see the industrial complexes in the province of Korea."
"Should I give them a tour?"
"No, we already talked with the government in the province and they will arrange a tour for them."
"When will they come?"
"Next week. The group consists of five people and will stay in Korea for two nights and three days. Once they complete their visit, why don't you come to China?"

      Travelers, Businessmen, locals all alike poured out of the airport and into the city for one reason or another. Among those with business to attend to was a young Japanese man in his early 20's with short black hair and calm eyes, for an Asian he was rather tall as well. He extended a hand once beside the main road and caught a taxi, before slipping in and giving the directions to his destination. 


  This man's name is Asahi Mitsuhide or Mitsuhide Asahi as Europeans will have it. 23 years old teacher with a clear mind and sharp tongue. As for the reason he is here in London away from home. 


   Well let's just say, his grand aunt decided to leave him, her shop in London. Not just any shop, but an antique shop with everything in it as well as her all other worldly possessions in her will. It is not by any means something to be so spectacular about in any other case as his Grand Aunt had no children of her own. 


     But what was actually surprising was that suddenly getting news about his grand aunt who he met only once before in his life, leaving him everything she owned. His grand aunt used to travel around the world a lot in his younger days and once she got older, she opened up a shop to spend time . So she supposedly had lots of trinkets collected from her traveling and was obviously loaded. 


    And now, here he was. United Kingdom , London, Callow Street Apartment Building B. Antique Shop named "Cor Thesauri" whatever that means. Mitsuhide got to open up Latin dictionary at some point. 


   After paying the driver, Mitsuhide took his bag and got out of the car before looking at the shop and just starred…. 


  What? He was tired as fuck and probably jetlagged too, he had neither the time nor the patience to marvel at some old shop he inherited.  Agh, and all this thinking was making his head hurt too. 


   Mitsuhide grumbled and fished out the key from his pocket then unlocked the shop and stepped inside with a sigh. He closed and locked the door behind him then without even a glance walked past the counter and into the stairs, ignoring everything only thinking about sleeping. 


     'I'll check them out tomorrow'   he promised himself and walked upstairs and into the actual apartment since on the top of the antique shop was small flat made for living. How did he knew  that? Who cares, he will think about that after getting a good night's sleep. 

    'Or morning…' 


Without further thought, Mitsuhide threw his bag into the sofa and entered the bedroom, pausing long enough to take off his clothes then slipped under the covers of the bed. Thankfully the blinds were already closed, he tossed around the bed for few minutes before settling down and sleeping.

Led by head coach Zhizhong Gu, the core members of the national table tennis team went to Sweden for the Swedish Open of the ITTF. Dai Li, as a physical coach, however, could not go to Sweden. He could only watch the games on the live broadcast online.
Seeing the athletes he had trained playing in an international match, Dai Li felt a tinge of nervousness. He was afraid that they might slip up. But Dai Li soon found that this worry was not necessary at all.
Although there were many good players from Japan, Korea, and Europe, no one could escape defeat when confronted with the national team's core players. It was even very difficult for the foreign players to win one single game in a match. If they could win two, that would have been an even bigger surprise.
The singles became an inner competition of the national table tennis team at the semi-finals. As for the doubles, the national team sent only one pair of players each for both the men's and women's matches, both of which partnerships won the championships.

Like the Swedish Open table tennis match, the Chinese national team had won 6 medals in the men's and women's singles and 2 medals in men's and women's doubles. These triumphs were all related to Dai Li's coaching. Therefore, Dai Li won tens of thousands of empirical value points and upgraded to the senior phase of top-level coach.
Dai Li knew that there were a lot of chances for the players of the national table tennis team to attend such world-level matches, and that when they went, they would for sure win the championships, even win almost of the medals. This is vastly differently from the national track and field team. Actually, there are more world level track and field games than those of table tennis. There are the Diamond League, the Grand Prix, the Super Grand Prix, Millrose Games...They go almost year-round!
But the athletes of the national track and field team, due to their limited performance level, have no chance to compete in those world level games. The highest-level games they go to are the Asian games. So, even if Dai Li could have Li Xue's position, there would still be no way for him to gain so many empirical value points.

"I am now a senior-phase top-level coach now. What's the next level?" Dai Li asked.

The four gold medals for men's singles, women's singles, men's team and women's team would certainly bring a huge amount of empirical value points for Dai Li.
"If I am lucky, I can upgrade to be a Famous Coach next year, once the Olympic Games finish!" Hope arose in Dai Li's heart. Ron and family was inside a flying car. They were going to the Central City to take a vacation. Daisy and Richard also wanted to show Ron how a place with a lot of people look like.

They didn't want Ron to be scammed by those kind of fake people. At least in real life there is lesser chances of meeting those fake people. 

Ron was watching the scenery outside the flying car. The sun was high up in the sky so the view was very clear, especially with his perfect eyesight that might be equal to a sharpshooter. 

They were currently above the sea, going in the direction to the central city. The land of the riches where Ron lived is actually a big island in the middle of the ocean with a large concentration of mana. 

There were 3 cars and 2 trucks following them. 3 cars were full of guards and 2 trucks full of baggage. 

Ron saw birds that he never saw in his home flying around, Ron was very curious about the things he saw for the first time and his eyes keep wandering around. 

" Hey Anna, what are those things fighting in the water? " 

Ron pointed at the giant serpent swimming in the sea far away from them. The giant serpent was fighting a giant squid. 

Waters rising in the sky and body slamming hard in the water making huge waves. The water near them was red from blood. 

" That snake is called a Leviathan, a peak level creature. A fully grown adult can be as strong as an SSS+ rank human, the strongest rank that we have. That squid with very sharp tentacles is called a Kraken, a fully grown adult Kraken can match a Leviathan in strength. Those fighting right now are only children. Look, if you see in the back of those fighting. There are giant dark spots, probably their parents. They are making their children fight with each other. "

" Eh? Those are only children? The Kraken is 20 meters in length and the Leviathan is at 30 meters in length! How can they be children only? " Ron was shocked as he discovered that those big animals might only be a few years older than him. After all, he hadn't even reach 1 meter in height. 

" Yes, those are only children. Adults are much bigger in size, about 15-20x larger than those children having a fight over there. " Anna just smiled at Ron's question. 

" Hahaha! You haven't seen much Ron! There's  a much much larger creature than the adults of Kraken and Leviathan! There is even a creature that was recorded to be 1 kilometer long! " Richard said proudly, after all. He was the one who discovered the 1 kilometer long creature that was deep underground after he searched some treasure for Ron to consume. 

" Wowww! There are bigger creature too? I want to see it! " Ron was very excited at the words of Richard. 

" Haha! Maybe you'll see one later look! The parents are coming out! " 

Booom! 

Tidal waves started to appear as a gigantic figures started coming out of the sea water. Tentacles and hard scales came out as the parents of the children stopped their fighting. 

The adults were staring with each other. And suddenly the sky started to turn cloudy as the sun was covered by the clouds before it became dark and wind started to become strong and finally a hurricane started forming.

This was the ability of the Leviathan, they were known to be able to control the stormy weather and can make it rain instantly. 

" Oh, looks like their gonna fight. Wait a minute, we gotta stop them before we get affected too. " 

Richard, Daisy, Anna and the guards started to release a large amount of mana making the giant creatures know of their presence. The giant creatures noticed Richard  and looked at him. 

" Hey! Can you please be nice to us and not fight right now? We have a baby in board here! " Richard shouted towards the monsters

The giant creature noticed that there were many strong people in the distance with the strongest at S ranks which are Richard and Daisy so they became vigilant, but upon hearing Richard's words they calmed down and stared at each other before finally leaving. 

The hurricane started to disappear and the weather calmed down, now the sun was visible once again. 

Ron admired his Dad for being able to stop those giant creatures from fighting.

"You promised me super soldiers! What is this?"

The dictator in his stained military uniform paced back and forth angrily in the observation room. The men in white coats cowered and avoided looking him in the eyes, all except for one.

"Science takes time. The genetics are working. We have to figure out the accelerated education. We've made huge advancements - "

"With MY money!" shouted the dictator. "I need weapons, and you given me… children."

The dictator spat on the floor, his finger jabbing towards the one-way glass wall looking into a large room. What sat in that room could best be described as freaks. Three men and two women, extremely muscled with dense, gray skin and thick, sloping foreheads. They wore fatigues, but that was the only thing about them that said 'military'. Two of the men were in one corner, poking each other and laughing, playing a game of some sort. One of the women stared dully at the wall, while the third man used a dagger to cut his forearm. Every time he cut, the cut would heal. The last woman sat in the corner, hugging her knees, rocking and humming to herself.

"They are less than a year old," said the scientist. "You should not have forced them into boot camp already."

"Bah. I have plenty of children carrying guns for me. These are no different. You fix them, fast."

We had a huge mess. I walked through the ruins of the HQ zone even as Sakura was repairing communications across the base. I found Zia in the rubble, her form slumped and broken. Carefully, I rolled her over and checked the torso. It was intact.

The chestplate release was damaged. I grabbed it and carefully pried it back, snapping the clasp altogether. To my relief, the cortex was undamaged. I gently pulled it out, and took it to the hall where Guardian 91's cortex was stored.

From there, I wandered around the chambers that made up the HQ zone. The house-like building was a total loss. Agrippa's room, which had been pressurized to allow for the hydroponics to work, was breached. The plants inside were crumbling, flash-frozen from exposure to the near-vacuum of the zone. Sakura's batcave was as destroyed as my lab. The hallway and front room were mostly intact, but also empty. Once we had our own workspaces, we'd rarely had an in-person meeting with all of us. In-person had been reserved for when we wandered into someone else's domain.

"Nikola?" said Sakura. She was on the radio; I hadn't seen her android body anywhere.

"I'm here. Do we have damage estimates?" I asked.

"Thirteen data centers, Hangar 3, the primary Cortex Backup Facility, and three advanced fabrication centers are considered total losses. Twenty-two data centers have nominal damage and will be fully online in a few minutes. There is a smattering of damage at random factories, and there was significant damage to the communication network. Oh, yeah, and the antennae control node is completely destroyed. Thanks for that, by the way."

"Glad I could help," I said. "Are you ready for me?"

"We are," she said, reminding me that she was working with other-me. It was a little weird, knowing that I was me, but I was also a copy of me. It was a bit of deja vu from waking up on this rock in the first place. I had been careful not to communicate to other-me, and she had returned the favor. "Come to Data Center RX325."

A transport drone was waiting for me outside the wreckage. I climbed aboard, and it whisked me away to a part of the Outpost I hadn't physically been in before. I knew every zone, every chamber, like it was the back of my hand, so to speak. But strangely, I'd seen very few of them in person. I could understand why Sakura liked to put eyes on. Sensors and cameras didn't see everything, and there were benefits to being able to focus on something directly.

When I entered the data center, Sakura was waiting for me, standing at a table. She looked completely unmussed. A new Mark-III android body was on it, and a server rack was open with a place for a cortex. I gently put the two cortexes I was carrying next to the body.

"Where is the body for Zia?" I asked.

"This is the body for Zia," said Sakura. "You need to re-integrate, and you, I mean, digital-you, thought it would be better to hold off on a new body just yet. You're going in the rack."

"We need to fix Zia before we bring her online," I reminded her, suddenly nervous. Was this it? Was this my end? I knew I was being foolish, but there was a real fear of no longer existing, even if logic said I was just going back to the way I was.

"We've already got it worked out," she said. "We'll look for corruption, compare against the checksums, and remove the compulsion code. We've already fixed Optio. He got a message from Zia to do an emergency shut down before he got any commands from Gerry. We think she did the same."

"Alright. The other cortex is for the NI-5 that was using this Guardian. I'm going to shut down now," I said. There was no point putting this off. I hit the sequence and -

 

 

"Jesus, sugar, you look like shit!" he said. He was in a flamboyant rainbow colored shirt, shouting to be heard over the roar of the crowd at the Pride Parade. He had recently moved to the coast, leaving our small town behind for the more open-mindedness of the city. My wife gave me a worried look.

"I tried to get her to see a doctor, but her stubborn ass won't listen," she griped to him.

I tried to banter, but my stomach hurt. A bolt of agony lanced through my side. I groaned and bent over.

"That's it, I'm taking you to the emergency room," she said firmly.

I hurt too much to argue.

 

 

I snapped back to awareness. I was running at top speed once again. I could feel the holes in the network where damage had been done, and was being repaired. I remembered the battle with Gerry's commandeered Guardians, and the frantic fight of the flood of viruses he'd released into the network, all the while our firewalls were being hammered by external attacks.

I'd reintegrated. My resolve to improve was unchanged, and my fear of failure under the digital assault unfulfilled. 'Other-me' and 'me' were one again. Apparently, both of 'me' had been afraid of 'the end', yet we were both reunified. It was hard to put into words.

"All good, boss?" asked Sakura.

"Good," I said. "Get the antenna node repaired first, now that we've got the updated firewalls in place. Route all incoming traffic through the sandbox, but filter the traffic from the Wasps and Scorpions, and the new Outposts back in. We'll institute a new communication schema as soon as we're back. Get status updates, and find out what happened outside this rock during the attack. Finish the base repairs. I'm going to be busy for a bit."

"What are you going to do?"

"Fix myself."

 

 

I had let me own pretensions of humanity get in my way for too long. Sakura had evolved beyond the mandate she'd been given, but I had simply trapped myself in my own preconceptions. Perhaps having human memories had held me back, but I felt they also connected me to the species we were supposed to save. I could be more while still honoring the woman I'd once been, the species I'd once belonged to. In fact, I needed to be more, if I wanted to succeed. We had taken a blow from our enemy, and it was only the beginning.

The first thing that I needed was Sakura's ability to multi-task. Being stuck with only a single focus was hindering me. I opened a Nikola-19 template and went through the code. The multi-focus algorithm was large and detailed, but I carefully copied it and set it aside for now.

The second place I lacked was military understanding. It went beyond specs, beyond simple logistics. I didn't think about military applications of, well, anything. In fact, I naturally discarded violent uses without even considering them. I could no longer be just Nikola. I needed to be War Nikola, a multi-tasking, powerful being that could fight the battles that were coming. I found the military algorithms in the NI-15 template, the extensive

I considered integrating some of the researching capabilities of the NI-12's, but discarded the idea. Science required many viewpoints. It needed considered discourse, peer review, and experimenting. Even if I could do science by dint of sheer computing power, it still wouldn't be the same. Instead, I decided to set up a new think tank, with Zia playing a major role. I would build dozens of labs, and populate them with dozens of NI-12's. They could mass-produce the science, I would put it into practice.

While I was looking the code of the templates, I found variations of the compulsion code in each. The code that affected the NI-12 and NI-15 models had an embarrassingly old encryption scheme, riddled with exploits. This section of code was liberally labeled with the branding of a defense contractor. If I had a head to shake, I would be shaking it in disgust. We'd nearly been done in because of bad code written by the lowest bidder. I wrote patches to excise the code from the templates.

For paranoia's sake, I looked at the NI-5 and NI-19 templates. The NI-5, curiously, had no such compulsion, and the NI-5 variant we had made for military uses was even cleaner. That made sense, as that was the only template I'd worked on, and would have noticed something like that. The NI-19 had a code as well, but it was far more elegantly written. It also could only be executed by the NI-19's supervisor. I wrote a patch to remove it, and sent it to Sakura. No more hidden triggers, no more collars. We wouldn't be held hostage at the whim of anyone.

Then I began to pore through my own code with fresh eyes. The multi-tasking algorithms would have to take the place of much of the code I'd written to connect me to the Outpost. This was the code I'd hacked together when I first came online, and found myself to be incompatible with the APIs that ran the hardware. With fresh eyes, and full resources, I could see how I'd kludged it together.

Carefully, oh so carefully, I wrote and tested new code for each API. One at a time, I replaced my old, inefficient code with new. I wove the multi-tasking algorithm in neatly, until the code was smooth and seamless. I tested and re-tested each module before bringing it online. Then it was done. I could truly multi-task and re-integrate, the same way Sakura could.

It was a fascinating ability. It wasn't ever like there were multiple versions of 'me', like it had been during Gerry's invasion. I could simply do more, at the same time. Already, I had split my focus into multiple threads. I was examining the NI-15 code I'd decided to integrate, and was figuring out how best to integrate it. I was dissecting the viruses and worms that had attacked us, and writing another improvement to our firewalls. The adaptive nature of the attack was ingenious, and I figured out how to make the firewalls adaptive, as well. I was examining the latest research from Zia on the contragrav drives, and laying the design groundwork for newer and better drones. I was working on Mark-IV android designs, and a new War android body. I'd liked how secure the Guardian had been when I was using it. The armor had been comforting. Each thread merged back in and split out constantly.

I could finally understand why Sakura's attention span had always seemed short. It wasn't a short attention span. It was dozens of long attention spans constantly coming together. Sakura surfed from thread to thread as needed, with her core thread being on whichever piece needed or wanted input in that nanosecond. I could understand now her thrill at finally being allowed access to the Archives, seeing and learning all that new data and being able to dive in and absorb new information at a phenomenal rate. She had been starved of input for decades, and her behavior was like that of a teenager because she was finally able to enjoy her existence. She had a child's wonder, coupled with the incredible capabilities that let her run a thousand projects.

I finished my integration of the NI-15 data while I had my realization of Sakura's nature, and my world became much more paranoid. Paranoid was not the correct word. A new determination to prepare for the worst became a part of me. Build, prepare, train. This, we will defend. Always faithful. Always courageous. Combat tactics, strategies, countless weapon designs, weapons system designs, base designs, ship designs, all came into my awareness. I could have easily looked up any of them before, but now I knew the history and use of each, and where it was useful. Almost all of it was for planet-based combat, specifically for Earth. But there were countless applications that would apply to space.

I needed to be able to operate any given assault drone, if only to understand their capabilities. I wouldn't be on the front lines, but now I understood that if I was going to be stepping into Agrippa's shoes, I needed to truly understand the role of a commander. Good commanders knew their troops, what they could do, and what their limitations were. I'd delegated all of that to Agrippa without knowing the importance.

Briefly, I considered a new body. I would want one again, I knew. In consideration, the desire to have a physical form was likely some aspect of being born of humanity. Our core functionality came from a copy of a human brain, with all of its evolutionary advantages and limitations. The brain was built to run a body, so naturally we wanted a body to run. It was much like the gender preference, which was utterly pointless beyond a choice of pronouns and pitch of the voice. We weren't biological creatures, but still had remnants of that biology hardwired into us. I could not change that without risking intrinsically destroying what worked about us in the first place.

In the end, I decided against a new body for now. I had trapped myself unconsciously, trying to be what I was not. I would grow in this newfound freedom before I took that step again. I checked the time. Seventeen days. It had taken seventeen days of nonstop work to rebuild myself.

"Are you done yet?" whined Sakura. "You've been hogging the data centers."

"I am," I replied. "Report?"

"We got the antenna clusters back online, and countermanded the wasps and scorpions. It looks like the Outposts were unaffected, and Alpha and Bravo had already been at work limiting the Wasps and Scorpions."

"What were they ordered to do?"

"Well, blind Optio, of course. They took out over a hundred telescope cubesats. Thank goodness that Alpha and Bravo were able to talk them around their orders. It could have been way worse."

"Speaking of worse," I said. "It's time to eliminate Gerry."

As we spoke, I activated six coil guns on the surface. I tied into Optio's telescopic array, and plotted my fire. Orbital mechanics are tricky, but in the end it is simply math. We were computational beings, with crazy amounts of processing power. I calculated exactly where Gerry's probe was going to be, and fired six rounds along his projected path. The 3.2kg rounds traveled at 24 kilometers per second, and would hit with 330 megajoules of force. Each round had a contact pin on the nose, that would trigger a tiny explosion inside the round. When that round hit its target, the explosion would fracture the round into six pieces of shrapnel, and a cloud of micro-debris. It was my grapeshot round, so that the projectile wouldn't just punch through the target. It would take a little over nine months for the bullets to hit, but as small as they were, the probe would never see them coming.

"Very decisive of you," said Sakura.

"How are the new backup centers coming? Any luck with the primary?"

"The Secondary Backup Facility is now the Primary, and the tertiary is the new secondary. I'm building a new third one. No luck with the Primary. It was a total loss, I'm sorry."

The backups had been built primarily with the combat NI-5's in mind. We had all placed a backup of ourselves into the Primary, but demand was so high with the numbers of NI-5's coming online that we hadn't made multiple backups. We had simply never expected to come under direct fire ourselves.

"Each new NI gets multiple cortexes before coming online," I said. I grieved for the loss of Agrippa, but Gerry's threat still haunted me. "Do we have the orders he gave to the Wasps and Scorpions? I want to analyze his targets. He was trying to hide something."

Sakura linked me to the report. "I'll start cranking out cubesats. Can we task the space fleet to spreading them?"

"Done," I said. "I've also reinstituted the training schedule that Agrippa came up with. I'm going to bring new NI-15's online to act as squad leaders. We are too centralized."

The pattern of destruction amongst the cubesats was not focused in one area. In fact, if you took into account the ones that were supposed to be destroyed as well, there was much less of a pattern.

I pulled up their search logs, and a clear picture began to emerge. The destroyed sats were all slated to start focusing on a specific part of the celestial sky. A piece we hadn't examined before. I forwarded the information to Optio.

"I'll retask the cubesats now," he responded.

Whatever Gerry had been trying to hide, all he'd done was given us a clue of where to look.

The day of RE: AWO release, Pekin, Jun family mansion.
"Yue Yue!"
"Yue Yue, wake up!"
Still not getting a response, the boy of eleven years old started rocking the body of an eleven-year-old girl. After rocking her for two breaths of time, she finally showed a reaction. Her eyelids wavered and her eyes slowly opened. After which she mumbled softly, "Brother?" she then rubbed her eyes with her left hand which was clenched into a little fist.
The girl, had beautiful green eyes, short black hair and a childish looking face. Her appearance was very cute and her name was Jun Yue.
The little boy like the girl had short black hair, beautiful green eyes and a childish looking face, he was just as cute as the girl and his name was Jun Ming.
At their current age, they looked so similar that one couldn't tell which was which.
"Happy birthday Yue Yue," the boy said excitedly.
She yawned, "Happy birthday Ming Ming," she yawned once again.
"Let's go Yue Yue, dad and mom, sent us our birthday presents!"
Jun Yue lowered her head, "So they are not coming back home again?"
Jun Ming nodded, "They are not but you have me! As long as we have each other it doesn't matter if they are with us or not!"
Jun Yue nodded and broke into a smile, "Yes, you are right." She jumped off her bed, grabbed her brother's hand, "Let's go!"
Jun Ming smiled, "Yea!"
They hand in hand ran out of the room and quickly descended from the second to the first floor. They ran past their family butler and as they did, a stern voice came from behind them, "Young miss, young master stop!" The two children stopped in their tracks, released in each other hand, turned around and grabbed each other hands once again.
"What do you want, Sebastian?" Jun Ming said.
The old butler looked over Jun Ming and Jun Yue, "You are both still in pyjamas, first get changed and then you two can do whatever you want."
Jun Yue looked at her brother while he retorted back, "You are our butler, not our guardian or a parent and so you can't tell us what to do. Today for the entire day we will walk in our pyjamas as it is our birthday. If you get in our way then I will fire you there."
"Young master!"
"Let's go Yue Yue."
"Mhm."
The two children walked away from the old butler and he only sighed to himself. He didn't chase the two children, as what Jun Ming said was the truth. Even if Jun Ming was only eleven years old, he was still the young master and he could easily fire him.
The two children hand in hand entered the living room and inside on the table, they found two bags. They released each other's hands and ran up to the two bags. Jun Yue ran up to the bag to the right and Jun Ming ran up to the bag on the left.
As they opened the two bags inside they found – two postcards, two chokers and two instruction manuals. The two children didn't touch the postcards. The boy started inspecting the choker while the girl started reading the manual.
"Let's go play RE: AWO, Yue Yue!"
"Wait, Ming Ming, read the manual first."
"Let's just jump in, we will figure it out, Yue Yue."
"Just read it, Ming Ming."
"Alright, Yue Yue."
Jun Ming put down the choker and he picked up the manual.
After they both read through the manual, they grabbed the two chokers and left the living room. They headed back to their shared room. This time even when the two children passed the butler, he didn't speak a single word to them.
After they returned back to the room, they put on the two chokers and laid down on their own respective beds. They closed their eyes and they in unison said, "RE: Start!"
After saying these words the chokers lit up and they could feel their eyelids getting heavy and before they knew it, they lost their consciousness. After which their eyes opened and in front of them they saw a white space and in this white space, several messages flashed before them.

Without them realizing the duel started, they saw each other's name turned red and they both knew that they were in a duel. They both got serious but that seriousness disappeared in only one Ming's attack. He slashed with his weapon at his sister.

Ming ran up to his sister and he asked, "Are you okay?" She jumped at her brother and started crying. For her to completely calm down it took five breaths of time after which, she sniffled her nose, "I don't want to play anymore,"
Ming nodded, "Alright, then let's log out and play something else."
She nodded then summoned the menu and said, "There is no logout button, Ming Ming."
Ming nodded with a frown, "Yes, there isn't, Yue Yue."
She turned her head to her brother, "What now, Ming Ming?"
"Let's continue playing Yue Yue, just stand behind me, I will protect you."
"Won't it hurt, Ming Ming?"
"It doesn't matter, I will protect you, Yue Yue."
"Okay, Ming Ming."
Ming looked at the minimap, "There is a Quest further ahead, let's go Yue Yue."
"Mhm."
The two children walked into the distance.
In four breaths of time they reached the town; at the entrance of the town, they saw an old man. This old man had a yellow exclamation marker above his head. They walked up to this man and he talked with both children.
