I own nothing. These are just stories I liked and want to share.

Some authors in chat talked about a book's worth. 

Most agreed that its value depends on the readers' willingness to pay for a novel. And the most selling here in WN are romance and h e n t a i.

Honestly, it is true in a sense that most authors who don't write these two genres or have the general audience receive lesser income to none. However, there are also other genres that are popular.

What saddening is that a story which has no s** will be buried deep in the list of books.

One time, a person told me that he won't read books without s**. I think you understand what I mean.

Sad... 

Those good literary authors will just choose Amazon. I totally agree with that.

But, is that what really makes a book valuable? So, the authors will just resort to writing stories with s**  since most will welcome it.

I feel sad if it is.

I've been reading and watching epic and classic stories like Mary Poppins, The Twelve Kingdoms, Fushigi Yuugi, The Vision of Escaflowne, Star Wars, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and others. 

These are great books but I'm not sure if the new generation is still reading them.

Hoping they are.

So, what is the worth of a writer? Of a person's storyteller's heart and creativity?

Will it just be buried deep in isolation? Will it just be following the flow of readership and abandon its desire to produce good stories?

I disagree. We still love good stories. There are still more readers who love good reads. In fact, these type of stories are more engaging and imploring. Those epic stories won't be called epic if no one reads them anymore. They are classified as such because their worth is beyond trends.

They simply go against the flow and create a tsunami, leaving people awestruck.

That is the type of book I want to write. I prefer to be remembered as an author who writes good stories without compromising the principles I believe.

Don't get me wrong. There are still good books with a bit of those s** things out there that you can read. But they don't focus on those scenes but on the story itself.

I am a person who never follows trends. And I care less what people call me. I will rather be true to myself than to follow the crowd and lose my self-respect.

In my opinion, the worth of a story is not only on the business side but also on how much heart and effort the author gives to his/her books.

To authors: Let us enjoy writing good stories. Let us be proud of what we write for not everyone can be authors. And not all writers can finish a book. The truth, most books here are unfinished.

To readers: Support good books and give the authors that confidence to continue writing good stories. Without your support, the authors might give up. If no one read good stories, then there's no point on writing one. But I believe most readers still love those type of books.

The Sorceress' Heir: Blossoming Youth and Power

Luccyan became more and more famous in Wano, either for his looks or for the laws he created for the country himself.

Violence, theft, misery, hunger and poverty, each of which quickly disappeared from Wano.

The streets of the capital of Flores became cleaner, shops, restaurants and inns were born every week.

This was good because it generated more capital, and the economy was spinning at full speed.

Citizens became increasingly wealthy.

With more money in their pocket, people dreamed and started their own businesses.

It must be said that Wano, had a lot of land and a lot of population, which made money have more and more value.

The only thing that hurt them was Kaido barring traders from other islands from entering Wano.

Roads, buildings, sidewalks, walls, squares, parks.  Those that already existed were rebuilt and those that did not exist were created from scratch.

Due to the memory of his previous world, Luccyan had several ideas on how to improve his empire.

Gradually Wano became more like modern Japan, they did not lose their classic buildings while adding new modern and architectural buildings.

These changes also startled in a good way Toki, Kikunojo, Kikuhime and Rouge.

They didn't know where all the knowledge Luccyan was showing them came from.

And as good wives they didn't ask him unless he wanted to tell them.

Of course, his classic excuse was to say that this knowledge I saw and his old homeland.

That answer made them think about what their homeland was like.

Sato and Gray both headed into the orphanage. Of course, when the children realised that the pair was visiting, they immediately went on a frenzy spree. The newly painted door was opened and revealed a large number of children greeting the couple.

"Good morning Big brother Sato and Big brother Gray!"

"Ah! Big brother Sato is here to play with us again!"

"Hey guys! Don't forget to thank Big brother Gray for the awesome playground!"

"Oh, I forgot! Thank you, Big brother Gray!"

The atmosphere was exactly the same as before, just that this time, instead of just Sato getting all the attention, Gray too, was getting a fair bit of love from the children. Gray smiled and rubbed the little boy's head. When the Sisters of the Sunflower Orphanage saw Gray's smile, they couldn't help, but blush. Gray was simply too handsome.

"Alright, alright. We should let Sato and Gray into the orphanage. Don't make them stand outside in the cold for too long." Shooing the children away was a norm for Mother Maria. She gave Sato a hug and brought the pair around to see the progress.

It was Gray's first time back here, ever since he decided to just let the contractors do their job of renovating. As the couple first stepped into the hallway, what was once chipped wood flooring, had been refloored and varnished over to create a nice dark hardwood floor. The walls no longer had mossy stains from the damp old drywall and was replaced with a nice clean white cement plastered finish. The scratched up windows of the Orphanage from the wear and tear of the children's games had also been replaced with more durable alternatives.

The stairs that lead upstairs to the children bedrooms had also received a redo. Be it the steps on the stairs or even the railings, they had all been teared down and replaced with a smooth and cleaner finish that complemented the current new aesthetic. It was crazy how the contractor had managed to finish such a huge renovation in a short period of time.

Gray must've rushed the hell out of those poor man, thought Sato guiltily. Yet, when seeing the final product, he was still thankful for what Gray had done for the children and those that work in the orphanage. The children's two room had also been renovated over and now, the place was definitely more cheerful. The walls had been painted over with a bright yellow. The old beds had all been replaced with more comfortable double decker beds. In addition, on the wall near the entrance to the room, there was a brand new addition.

"Wow! Look at all these books!" Sato walked up to look at the new varieties of short stories that were available. The classic story time books like Cinderella, Pinocchio, Snow white and the Seven Dwarves, Bambi and many more, were placed on the tall bookshelf. The craziest part about this was that there were even books that Sato had never heard of when he was a child. For a crazy fanatic of studying, Sato was also an avid reader.

To be able to read a vast variety of books as a child, it gave Sato a good foundation when it came to writing essays and building up strong vocabulary. Now, the children would be able to do the same and not be stuck reading the same few books.

Sato looked behind him to find the culprit. He gave Gray a thankful nod and a smile. That was more than enough for the love-struck General.

The day went by in a blink of an eye. Sato and Gray entertained the children in doors, ranging from card games to helping them with school work. Although the children were orphans, they were enrolled into the nearby public school that was free of charge.

Unlike Sato who felt and acted like a big brother, Gray was more like a teacher. Surprisingly, Gray was extremely patient with children. His cold and quiet aura was nonexistent when teaching the little kids. He was even able to explain to them using simple terms. By the end, everyone called Gray, Teacher Gray, instead of Big brother. Gray was very happy with his new nickname.

At night, after they had tucked in the children with a new bed time story, the pair could finally sit down and talk with Mother Maria. She was really thankful for everything that Gray and Sato had done. After all, this would not have been possible in her wildest dreams.

"It is really nothing, Mother Maria." Gray told her the truth. To him, these things were really nothing. It was the outcome that mattered more in this case. "I'm more than happy to see the children live in a better environment."

"Yes, yes. The children really adore you for what you had given them. Also, speaking of giving, I have good news to share." Mother Maria took out a clear file that contained several documents. On one of them, it had a picture of a little girl from the Sunflower Orphanage.

"After liaising with The Miracle Foundation, we received a response from them a week later. There was a couple that was interested in adopting, Little Leah. I met up with them to have a chat the other day and they seemed like really great people. So after a week of paperwork, they will officially adopt Little Leah tommorow."

The smile on Mother Maria face was extremely warm and blissful. She had waited many years for potential parents that would be willing to adopt these poor little children. Yet, it was never successful and so, in the end, there were many orphans that had to live independently once they cross a certain age. It was truly heartbreaking.

Tommorow would be the first successful adoption of the Sunflower Orphanage. The Three year old Leah would be brought into a loving home and loved by her new parents.

To the two boys that made it possible for this to happen, Mother Maria was very grateful and thankful for their kind souls.

Sato had to drop out of university as he lacked the funds to continue his education. Due to some unfortunate encounters, his original scholarship funds had disappeared and now he was forced to earn enough to carry on his education journey.

As such, he saw a advertisement ad recruiting a personal assistant in the military. Anyone could be eligible and not only that, the pay was high too. Immediately Sato applies for it, where he soon finds out that it was to be the Personal Assistant for a Major General of the Army of Country Z.

"How did it go?" Milani asked Mason as she sipped from her cappuccino. "It was okay, I punched Caesar in the gut twice. I feel much better now." Milani spit out her drink as bursted into laughter. "Classic, it's what he gets." She snickered. "Yeah, my mom kept crying and stuff. I kind of feel awful not going home sooner." Mason responded. "Hey it's not your fault okay? Someone hurt you and I'm sure everybody understands that," she said reassuring her best friend. "On another note how's the restaurant going?" Mason questioned drinking his tea. "Honestly, it's going great, like really good. I've had so many people book for this month that can't even fit. That's how loaded the schedule is." She replied.

The two friends chatted about their plans and how they were doing. Mason kept complaining about how he had to go to a family dinner in a week and introduce Jasmine to his family. "Come on stop pouting Mason, you have to introduce her one day. Turn that frown upside down." Milani smiles at Mason as she drew up from her chair. "I have to go but promise me you'll get a hold of yourself and stop thinking too deep into this dinner." His friend concluded, rubbing his back. Day by day mason grew more and more anxious to let his family come near his wife. A small part of him didn't want to bring her around Caesar because he was too afraid of what could happen if he were to let him near her. "I suppose I must suck it up," he groaned, throwing away his cup of tea and exiting the cafe. 

As Milani walked home, she watched the dawn sky and how bright orange it was. "What a beautiful sight," She hummed getting ready to cross the street. Just when she was about to walk to her doorstep when someone tapped her on the shoulder. "Oh hello, how can I help you today?" Milani asked. "Oh I just wanted to say hello to such a beautiful woman." The guy wasn't familiar to Milani, maybe he had jus moved into the neighborhood and that's why she didn't recognize who he was. "Well I'm your new neighbor, Nick Jones." He held his hand out for Milani and shook her hand. "I'm Milani and welcome to the neighborhood," she announced before going back into her house. As soon as she opened the front door she was greeted by her boyfriend. "What was all that about?" Laying down her purse on the counter she shuffled into the kitchen to get something to drink. "Nothing," she replied shrugging. "It didn't look like nothing." Chris muttered under his breath. 

Milani rolled her eyes and kissed her boyfriends cheek. "It's our new neighbor just trying to say hello that's all." His girlfriend said with a sigh. "If you say so," Chris countered.

Milani was in no mood to talk. Given the fact that the orchestra she hired for next week canceled and the comment her boyfriend made didn't help calm her annoyance down. "Listen, I need someone to babysit Romeo and Alana next week, the band cancelled and I'll have to preform." Milani said to Chris as she cooked dinner. "Can't I'm practicing on a shoot all next week in another state." Milani stopped chopping up the vegetables and stared back at her boyfriend. "I thought you stopped modeling for a while to help me with the kids and school?" Chris picked up his coat and buttoned his shirt. "I changed my mind, I want to continue working. I'll be back in two weeks." With that he pecked Milani on the lip and walked out the house. 

Chris' words baffled her. "When did he plan on telling me, he would leave the state today?" She said pouring the chopped vegetables into the pot. "Mommy you're back!" Milani smiles and squatted down to her daughter. "Yes baby, did you have fun at school today?" The mother asked to her adorable daughter. "Yes mommy, me and my friends had a birthday party in class and I got to eat cake." Said Alana with sparkles in her eyes. "That's great princess, I'm glad you had fun." Replied Milani as she kissed her daughters forehead. "Where's Romeo honey?" Her mother asked, shifting her attention from Alana to the cooked dinner. "He's in the living room reading a book. I'll help prepare the plates mommy." Alana said, heading for the dinning room. 

Milani smiles at her bright responsible daughter and walked to the living room. There she watched her intelligent son read one of her favorite novels. Shattered souls. "Romeo baby, why don't you read children books?" She questioned slouching over the chair her son was sitting in. "Oh hi mommy, you're back." He said closing the book. "I don't like children books, I like what mommy reads." Romeo answered grinning. "You're too cute," His mom sighed and giggled again, and again. "Dinner is ready come eat." They walked out the living room and into the prepared dinning room. "Good job princess," Milani complimented winking at her daughter. 

"All right dig in." Milani prepared a traditional Japanese rice and curry dinner for her and her children. The smell was intoxicating, and it made Milani not want to eat it but put it up for display. "Mhm, mommy it's Soo good," Alana said with her mouth filled with curry. Milani's lips curved into a smile at her daughters compliment and her sons head nod, showing he agreed with his twin. "Thank you my little munchkins." Their mother said pinching their cheeks. "Mhm so good," Milani moaned, closing her eyes to savor her masterpiece.

After dinner was over Milani bathed her children and dressed them in their pajamas. "Mommy can we stay up and watch princess movies with you? Pretty please." Alana begged her mother. "Fine, but only because there isn't any school tomorrow." She got up and searched for a few classic Disney movies and turned on the CD player. "Pocahontas, The Princess and the Frog or Lion king?" 

Their mother suggested holding up all three DVD's. "The Princess and the Frog!" Alana shouted pulling out her Tiana doll. "The Princess and the Frog it is." Milani said placing the DVD in the CD player. "After the movie is over I want you guys go to bed okay?" Milani said as they nodded their heads in agreement. 

After the movie was over Milani noticed her children were fast asleep. She couldn't help but smile at the sight of her two blessings falling asleep on her lap. Milani adjusted them on her bed and laid down next to them before going to sleep.

Milani is a typical young lady, she was a wife, a lover, a sister, a friend. But one day her whole world came crashing down for reasons she has never been told. Her life went downhill from then on until she met the two most important people in her life.

Chapter 3: A devil transformation 

Wenzesclaus heaved a heavy sigh. Callistus eyed his friend with a discerning eye. It was amusing he enjoyed his friend in distress. They were notified by the academy to collect their textbooks, uniforms and badges. Callistus and Wenzesclaus had became best friends ever since. Wherever they went, they were together. After learning of the fate of their history, their bonds had grown closer. It was bad luck he got top marks for all of his assessments. Wenzesclaus didn't have one ounce of interest in becoming the top student. Excelled as the top student had meant that he had the responsibilities to put on a good image and reputation for the parents and guardians who will be attending the open ceremony. A public speech was such a bother.

He sighed. I should have made more mistakes on my assessment. I should have faked my capabilities. I should have pretended to be stupid. 

"Hey, Callis." Wenzesclaus had collapsed on the table once they had left the academy grounds. The pair had entered a cafe for lunch. "Why don't you take my place and represent our class?" 

Callis had sighed. "What are you talking about?" The prince had gone ahead and leafed through the food catalogue. "You're the top student. Remember, Asterisk is purely merit-based. Family background doesn't matter. It all comes to how skillful you are. And you have perfectly proven that your skills certainly had surpassed mine. So hang in there, Mr Top-Student." Callis had a mischievous grin on his face.

"Bastard…" Wenzesclaus eyed Callistus. "You're just getting revenge for snatching your top seat, didn't you?" 

"Well, I wonder what you're talking about." Callistus had pretended he knew nothing of it. He had turned to the waitress, and had ordered his food with a satisfying look. "Lunch Set A, please. What would you like, Zes? Or are you going on a diet?" The prince had teased. Wenzesclaus had blushed, turning crimson red from embarrassment.

"No, I'm no!" Wenzesclaus had scowled. "Lunch Set B, please." He placed his own order after Callistus. The waitress had chuckled at their childish bantering, had left with their orders. "Geez, Callis. You're the esteemed prince of this land." Wenzesclaus had sighed after the waitress had left. The prince had smirked. Wenzesclaus, The nation would weep. Their crowned prince had such an appalling personality. 

After their lunch, the pair had ventured into the palatial library. Wenzesclaus was curious, had tried picturing through the descriptions and feelings the esteemed elders had felt on that fated day. It was such a mysterious puzzle. Why would a demon intrude into Seinhart? The demon did nothing. He did not try to conquer, monopolize nor sovereign the peaceful land of Seinhart. He came all to kidnap two children. Something didn't feel right. Prince Callistus had agreed.

Something was not right.

The opening ceremony commencement of Asterisk Academy had signalled a fresh start of the trimester. Students from various backgrounds were gathered in the grand, capacious hall of Asterisk Academy. The nobles and aristocrats were lined in the first row. Wenzesclaus was also seated at the first row, to his surprise. His questions were answered when the Principal of Asterisk Academy had come on stage with the esteemed His Majesty, King of Seinhart Empire, Raphael Arnold Seinhart. Wenzesclaus was frozen stiff. Callistus had laughed and chuckled to himself. Wenzesclaus had sighed, eyeing the laughing prince.

"Bastard… you must have knew, didn't you?" Wenzesclaus had whispered. 

Vincent gritted his teeth, harbored great hostility against Wenzesclaus. His hostility had increased tremendously as he saw Wenzesclaus was seated in the front rows, along with the aristocrat families. He had picked the wrong person. The faces of pale expressions when Wenzesclaus was invited on stage. Seraphinus and Alexia were dumbfounded. Wenzesclaus was a descendant of the supreme oracle, the sole successor of an ancient noble family. Vincent was filled with extreme jealousy and envy. The audience were moved by Wenzesclaus's touching speech, was welcomed with open arms. Mervyn and Sassha, were also invited to the grand ceremony, were proud of their son's accomplishments. 

It was time Wenzesclaus had to face the fate of destiny. The clogs which had begun will never turn back. 

The grand ceremony soon came to an end. Students and parents filed out through the exit. Students headed to the classrooms assigned to them based on their assessments. Vincent had reluctantly headed for Class-A, his glare was willed with belligerent intent. Wenzesclaus and Callistus entered the classroom for their first lesson. Wenzesclaus and Callistus had glanced around and stared at their peers who would be their classmates for the term. 

" Oh! Prince Callistus, Wenzesclaus!" Alexis's expression lit when she saw the appearance of familiar figures striding into the capacious classroom. The classroom was classic; a blackboard, a teacher's desk, big windows and long desks. Although the hall was spacious, only a limited number of students was admitted into Class-S. There were only a sad number of students. Wenzesclaus glanced around and had done a quick count. 

"Eight…" Wenzesclaus was speechless. It was peculiar. The lower levels class were filled with hundreds of students, but their class barely filled the front rows of the classroom. The bell soon chimed, and their homeroom teacher had walked in. He was a man with a muscular build. The outline of his ripped muscles could be seen even from the jersey he wore. Their homeroom teacher had short black hair, his coat was donned over his distasteful jersey. His gray coat had orange rims, which signified he was an instructor for the magi department. 

The professor had taken a quick glance and settled himself comfortably at the teacher's desk. He had stared intently at Wenzesclaus, the one who had pulled full marks on Asterisk's assessments. Wenzesclaus was the first since the establishment of Asterisk Academy over a hundred years ago. Wenzesclaus had effortlessly broken the world's record. 

Wenzesclaus had blinked. The instructor tore his eyes from staring at Wenzesclaus. "Good morning, class. Congratulations on being admitted into Class-S. In this class, all of you are expected to be independent on your studies. Your instructors are here to oversee your progress. I am the instructor in charge of all you lot. Although the years I have been instructing Class-S, the measly numbers of students here had never failed to leave me stupefied. Seems like we have a genius with us this year." The instructor glanced at Wenzesclaus. Wenzesclaus was perplexed. His presence was below nil. Not many people could have detected his very existence on the first glance. Was this what a Class-S instructor is capable of? "My name is Abraham Frost." 

Unlike Class-E to Class A, Class-S has the absolute freedom of research material of their choice.  After self-introductory and curriculum briefing, Class-S had been dismissed for the day. Students in Class E till A had classic lessons till evening. Wenzesclaus and Callistus had decided to stop by the research materials centre. The research materials centre was connected to the library and the research labs. There was still much they did not know about devils. Wenzesclaus had checked out books from the library.  Wenzesclaus and his peers then decided to have a celebratory lunch since it was the first day of their school admission. Seraphinus and Alexia had suggested to try out the new sweets cafe which had just opened around the corner. Without much choices, the group had decided to give the new sweet cafe a try.

Wenzesclaus had glanced around his peers. With the exception of the prince, they had observed and stared at him. Wenzesclaus could barely remember their names during the homeroom that morning. Everyone's name was long and complicated, which he was weak at it. Two of his peers were Callistus's escorts. Wenzesclaus had burst into laughter. 

"Hahahahaha! You have escorts at this age, Callis?"

"Have anyone decided which research society to enter?" Alexia questioned, taking a small spoon of her strawberry yoghurt parfait. Seraphinus had ordered herself a mango parfait. The males had just ordered tea. The confectionery were too sweet to their liking. 

"Research society?" Wenzesclaus had blinked. He could finally experience the ache in his abdomen from laughing too much. Taking a break, he joined Alexis conversation. "What's that?" Wenzesclaus was practically clueless when it comes to society rules of their nation. Surrounded by natural resources of mother nature during his childhood days, it was the first time he had seen such a huge crowd of people when he entered the capital of Seinhart. 

Seraphinus's shyly nodded. "There are a few research societies." Her timid voice spoke daintily. She took out posters from her bag. "I was given these during the ceremony." She showed the group the posters she had gotten from the seniors promoting their research societies at the walkway leading to the grand hall where the opening ceremony was held. The peers glanced at the posters, curiosity had piqued their interests. There were various research societies where magic was used for the benefit of the society.

There was even a research society named 'Body Enhancement Research'. Wenzesclaus had turned to stone. It sounded so wrong in so many ways. Callistus's escorts were twin brothers. The elder twin was gleaming with passion. "However, I cannot do as I please without His Highness approval. I won't be indulgent. My job is to ensure His Highness safety. This is the reason why we're chosen as His Highness's escorts." 

Callistus sighed. "Kousuke, Haruki. Just do whatever pleases you. You don't need my approval, nor you have to follow me around everywhere." Callistus had told his escorts with a straight face. Wenzesclaus knew he just didn't like being followed around like a king. Wenzesclaus sighed. That was his intention all along. 

Both twins were from the Salvador Family. They were a noble knight family which they vowed to protect the royal family with their lives. The successors of the Salvador families were extreme powerful, their martial arts could put the military commanders to shame. The twins were sons of the Fifth Salvador Master, Albrecht Salvador. His sons, Kousuke Romaeus Salvador and Haruki Erik Salvador were his proud children of the Salvador family. After all, his sons inherited his strong appearance and traits. The twins although were thin, they possess the lithe figure of knights, like their mother, were competent and well-versed in miracle arts, also known as magic.

Magic was once known as arts of miracle, which is not achieved by many, leading people to believe that magic could only be performed by selected people chosen by the heavens. It is a miraculous feat, a gift from the heavens. Magi were capable of conjuring things out of nothing; transforming things into nothingness. A feat which many could only dream of. But the existence of magi had made humans' dreams come true. It began with foresight and predicting of the future. The origins of magic does not have an assault nature. Individuals who were born magical talent were sensitive to spiritual and supernatural essence. The discovery of virtual imagery and chanting had opened the gates to the unlimited possibilities of magic. 

"What should we do?" There are too many for me to decide~" Alexis had groaned.   

"Who knows." Wenzesclaus shrugged. He picked up a few of the posters and studied them. Wenzesclaus then felt a tingling feeling behind his neck. He turned and saw Vincent was standing outside the window. Fireball magic was activated in his hands, had aimed towards his direction. Wenzsclaus had dropped the papers and raced to the front of the doors.

"Everyone, duck!" Wenzesclaus had casted a huge barrier. He had charged to the front, standing in front of the threat, his peers were behind him. The customers and the staff of the cafe had panicked. Some tried to escape, were badly injured by the fireball spell Vincent had casted. The casualty was huge. Callistus had ordered Seraphinus to heal the injured, and casted another barrier over them. He had warned them not to do anything rash and heeded his instructions. 

"Do you think he's conscious of his own actions?" Wenzesclaus turned and asked Callistus. Callistus had shook his head.
"I don't think so, Zes." His reply was short. 

Callistus gritted his calcium-nurtured teeth. What should I do? Callis, think! You're the prince! It's your duty to protect these people of your nation! He turned around, was wide-eyed with shock. The weak-presence Wenzesclaus had easily deflected Vincent's fireball with a single hand. In fact, it was Vincent who had a hard time assaulting Wenzesclaus. Callistus sighed. You can do everything, don't you? His treasured friend must have decided it was the only casualty they would be willing to compromise.  Wenzesclaus dispelled his barrier, glared at Vincent.

"Wake up, Vincent! Do you know what you're doing?!" Wenzesclaus had yelled. His efforts were in vain. Vincent's ravings were defined as 'balderdash'. It was as if Vincent had been possessed, chanting words he had never spoken or knew he could. It was a marlakey of the society. He'd be shamed, a son of a prestigious noble family was defamed in the eyes of the people. Wenzesclaus however, frowned. He felt a tingling feelings from the litany baloney of words Vincent had spoken. Wenzesclaus could sense it. Vincent was unconscious. He was possessed by someone, something which possessed ominous powers. 

Wenzesclaus had transformed the magic barrier into an attack spell. His golden staff had materialized, and appeared in his delicate hands. His ice spell conjured was intent on slowing Vincent, however had hurt and damaged Vincent tremendously. Wenzesclaus had blinked. His eyes had turned red, his ears were pointy, had long, thin fingernails. Wenzesclaus frowned. It was bizarre. These were classic features of a resident from the Servius Empire. In other words, a spirit of the Servius empire. Vincent had transformed into one of those beings in front of his very eyes. He couldn't believe it. There were no recordings that humans could transform into spirits. However, it was also strange that such a weak spell had caused such a huge damage on a mythical being. These mythical beings were said to possess enhanced strength, durability, sight and prowess. 

Wenzesclaus realized the dire emergence of the current situation. He had made a wage that Callistus had realized it too. He trusted Callistus to protect the rest. His staff touched the grounds, making ripples of the spiritual power which was outspread like a thin layer. Callistus cold feel the immense colossal of spiritual strength he had gathered. Wenzesclaus's clear teal blue irises had a sharp gaze. He had struck the grounds at Vincent's feet with his golden staff.

"Sleep, Vincent." He commanded. He had made use of the oxygen and water particles in the air, was glaciated  Vincent in a cage of ice. Callistus felt Wenzesclaus was impressive. He was like a gift from the heavens. His skills were levels too advanced to be revered a magi at the young age of seventeen. He was astounded at Wenzesclaus's display of accuracy to even pinpoint at a rampaging Vincent. He was like a messenger from the heavens. His existence was vowed to kept confidential from the world.

He was just a freshman student at Asterisk Academy, was what the world knows about the young man named Wenzesclaus Marquis Fernandez.

"Is it over?" Alexis had spoke, stretching her neck nearer towards the unconscious Vincent. Wenzesclaus nodded. Callistus had summoned the royal commander, had entrusted the case to the man who played a vital role in keeping the empire safe. The royal guards were extremely perplexed by Wenzesclaus's skill, many had witnessed how effortlessly he had taken down a rampaging devil. There were still many things humans did not know about devils, nor the mysterious land of Servius Empire. People who step into the lands of Servius do not return. It was regarded as the forbidden lands by the people of Seinhart Empire. 

Wenzesclaus and Callistus had said goodbyes to their classmates after the incident was safely over. Wenzesclaus had sighed on their way home.They were exhausted. It was a day filled with incidents one after another. After all, he possesses the rare capabilities no man had ever seen. He and the people who were present during the fight were questioned over and over again. Even Prince Callistus was no different. Such an obscene sight was revealed in front of their eyes. A clue to what had happened between the pair had finally appeared. They had almost lost hope when they had found the library had possessed research information on devils and Servius empire close to nil. This incident had brought hope to them. A new clue. It was the beginning of a tremendous storm. 

In a land far, far away, a man who had been observing the entire incident through the crystal ball. He was located miles away from Seinhart empire. He had vermillion scarlet red hair, long, black nails, pointed fangs and ears. He had the most graceful and elegant appearance man had ever seen. Women often had fallen prey, were entranced by his alluring appearance, had met their demise at the hands of the notorious devil. With just one glance, his servants had smirked. It was a contrivance which humans were easily capacitated, had danced merrily to their tune. Humans were amusing, had achieved the conditions they required, was fit of becoming a devil's pastime. After all, it was their master who was the sole mastermind behind the strings of incidents which had ad nauseum occured on the lands of Seinhart empire. The cases of demi-devils transformation had been reported had increased since then.  He had enjoyed observing Wenzesclaus being summoned by the royal commander in assisting the police in subjugating the threats of devils.  

The devil had smirked. "Do you like my present, Zes?"

It's not yet the time yet. Suffer more, struggle more, my dear Zes. Our time is etched upon the clock. By the time you realize its true intentions, you are mine to have.

Over a housand years they had waged war against each other, soldiers and warriors who had departed from Seinhart to protect their homeland never returned. The reappearance of the Master who ruled Servius Empire had made him stand on the front-lines once again. The young man's name was Wenzesclaus. The sole legacy of the past hero, Mikhail Fernandez. 

The Master of the spirits said: "I have come to fulfill our promise. You will return to me. You are mine."

February 2006

Blake Arthur Bennett always knew what he wanted to be.
While his circle of school mates desired the usual middle of the road occupations; firemen, rock stars, cops or footy players, Blake wanted to be a photo journalist.
Cameras were a magnet to him. While other kids his age were playing baseball, or attending scouts, he would grab his parents cheap instamatic camera and painstakingly take shots of everything that took his fancy. Then, whipping out his moms favorite wooden spoons he had enlisted as microphones, he would interview any live subject he had photographed. 
Whenever he received enough pocket money he would buy one of those develop-once-and-throw-away types sold at corner stores for tourists that have either: 
a)forgot their camera, 
b)lost their camera,  
c)had their camera stolen, 
d)had no taste. 
And, at his young age he did not care.

Now, at the age of thirty two, he was a true professional. And he had worked damn hard for it.
In his hand was his latest assignment, a colorful brochure portraying the events at the Billington Convention Centre, the augmented Sci Fi Showdown. 
One of the biggest, brightest annual events to hit town, the flyer skited in bold. Blake had attended many similar shows around the world, usually for his work and sometimes purely for the love.
Now freelance, he was able to photograph and write about what interested him. His boss of late had fast become unreliable and when he became fast unfinancial that was the last straw. His pathetic, excuse echoed in Blakes memory
Sorry mate, had family commitments. The cheque will be in the mail (fuckin cliché) but, well, you know how it is
Yeah, he sure did. Or perhaps he would like to imagine he did. Lets see, it would be 58, brunette, shapely and willing, definitely requiring high maintenance. Wonder what his wife would say to that. Knowing her and her American-Irish temper she would probably commit blue bloody murder if she caught him out. Shit she was built like a bloody Irish out-house!
Still, it was never any of his business, except when the last cheque failed to arrive in the mail. The thought of blackmail did cross his mind but he was building a bridge and getting over it. You win some you lose some. Once his wife did find out, as these situations have a way of being leakedwellfor all he knew the guy was already dead! Ten years of hard slavery working and goodbye Mr Arsehole! 
It all came at a good timehe had the experience and now freedom to pick and choose his future assignments. He considered himself privileged, and damn lucky, as he had enough personal contacts throughout his career to see him receive assignments all over the world and boy did he love travelling! He did not care if the subject was a celebrity brats birthday in up state New York or in the midst of violence in the Middle East. To him the camera ruled and never liedhis weapon of choicethe truth captured for historians.
Alone in his study slumped in his favorite lazy-boy chair, he took a tentative sip from a tumbler filled with a rich malt scotch and eagerly flipped through the brochure. Being an avid fan of all that makes up the Sci Fi cult, the planned events were excellent. 
Heading the celebs were Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, whom he considered the Foundation Fathers of popular televised Sci Fi. With a bit of luck, he may even be able to discuss photography with Nimoy, who was an avid photographer in his own right. Then, there was New Zealands Lucy Lawless dressed in her sexy Xena costume and Elijah Wood from Lord of the Rings. 
Their appearances were evenly spaced out over the two day event.  Colour photos from previous events displayed vendors selling their wares to eager fans young and old from all corners of the globebuying, selling or swapping. There were scores of products and collectiblesnovels, t-shirts, cups, posters, comic books, key rings, and pc games. The paraphernalia was endless. There was the mandatory autograph signing schedules and of course, the traditional costume competitions. 
And right down the bottom in small type: 
Subject to last minute changes. 
Naturally.
He knew the readers of the monthly Connections blog and newsletter he regularly contributed to would appreciate his deftness and articulation. Huh, if they cannot attend they might as well have the next best thing. Encapsulate the readers with his vivid prose and descriptions. Tantalise his readers imaginations so they can picture themselves right there, make them see what they are missing out on. If they were astute enough to read between the lines, it would almost seem he was pointing a scornful, accusing finger at his dear readers for not making the effort to attend. This is one situation where photos did not do the subject true justice.
Throughout his vocation, Blake had developed survival skills in the exciting and many times cut throat media world of the photo journalist. In fact, it was sheer arrogance and cunning he had mastered and honed to a deadly point. A philosophy he held close was; if you wanna survive and be number one in this God damn world you gotta have ballsand slice off everyone elseshopefully without them knowing, until you were a good distance away! 
This fostered arrogance developed its roots at a young age. Blakes family were a close knit mixed bag Christian family, as Blake would describe them. Blake considered himself a casual religious man, or what he would call a non-practicing C-man. He was reasonably close to his dad and sister, but his strict mother ruled the roosta religious God-fearing, but loving mother who made sure he said his prayers daily and gave thanks to God for all the good wonderful blessed things he received. The usual stuff like food, clothes, air, water, parents etc. She neither encouraged nor discouraged his love for the camera, being indifferent towards anything that interested him personally. 
Eat your greens, think of the starving children in Africa, was one of her favorite clichés to try and bribe her children to eat up. As far as Blake was concerned the kids in Africa could gladly have his greens and any other coloured vegetable! But he obeyed when he overheard her rambling on about the Lord will strike you down and the good die young. The youngster believed his mother was certainly goodshe was his mother, though a pain in the butt with her strictness. He had another good reason to obey thanks to the nasty caustic soap taste in his mouth when she caught him cussing.  
On Saturday morning, the 4th April 1987, Margaret Sonia Bennett collapsed and died of a heart attack. She was in her early thirties. That marked the moment that scared Blake right out of any religious beliefs and he turned his back on his mothers traitor. Those seeds were planted into Blakes subconciousness and grew through his life. Be careful what you say or believeit just may come true.
This left Blake Arthur Bennett Senior responsible to bring up him and younger sister Sadie.
His father, who was quietly agnostic, and doted on his kids with gallons of generosity, bought Blake the latest Canon for his fourteenth birthday, two weeks after his mother died. It was the A1 model, and for its time, it took the world by storm. Blake, reeling from his grief took a serious dive into the world of celluloid. In his world, the camera possessed the truth. It would never leave him, or more like his neck, and would never force him to do stuff he hated (like eat his greens). 
A photo to him represented the truth of the moment, from there reality only got older. He despised people that manipulated the camera to fool people into a false reality, like double exposure and other techniques to show things that were not really there. 
After a few formal photography courses to learn the camera inside and out involving theory, techniques, film developing, special effects, night exposure, angles, motor drives, filters and so on. The best advice from his teacher was to keep shooting, never stop. He passed with honours and left knowing his eye would be stuck behind a lens until the day he died. He knew his natural talent could only be developed by practical experience and simply being there to get that one in a lifetime exclusive shot. 
One of his favorite subjects was taking lightening shots. Hundreds and hundreds of shots to get that one, two or three perfect shots. It excited him, just as winning the national lottery excited most.
But he had to make a living so he did some colour and monochrome portfolios, threw a few stories together and got a job at the Daily Dominion covering the Community and Current Events. Though reasonably paid for his efforts, in his soul, he never felt satisfied. He wanted to get out into the world instead of being stuck in a small town. The next ten years were relatively calm as he lived and breathed photographic journalism and made himself a name. He knew one day he would move to a larger upstate city or perhaps overseas. Admittedly, he had deliberately stayed in Salmore City, and it was not just for family reasons.
He viewed digital with a certain coolness when the strangle hold took the world by storm. Digital had its place and was convenient, cheap and easy on the novice. But the science, the beauty, the sacred knowledge (the endless rolls of film and years of practice) that only a true photographer can possess is only akin to a classic still frame camera shot. He saw digital as a cheat format for losers. There was no real scientific effort in point and shoot. Yes, digital for dummies was popular and there was amazing special effects that one can conjure up at a press of a PC command. But where was the challenge, the beauty, the artistry? In his view, a real photographer experiments with exposure, speed and time delay, focusing, angles, subjects, props, lights and endless practice above all. Digital versus still frame was likened to painting by numbers to creating an original masterpiece. Someone else or something else was controlling the journey and the result. 
But the camera giants all hopped on the bandwagon and held their sweaty hands out hungry for the publics almighty dollar and the incessant demand grew larger. 
Most people are just bloody lazytypical human nature he would muse.
Blake, like millions of others appreciated the 21st century technologies that revolutionized information and communicationdata transfer in the forms of ADSL, cable, satellite, wireless, and the ever shrinking microchipnot to mention revolutionized computer interactive homes and furnishings to make life easy. Not for him though, no way would he let his toaster tell him what to do! 
You could be anywhere and view the world from your laptop, tablet or mobile phone and record on the spot moments. Receive news, weather, sports, run your business, play games, plan your schedule, romantic dates, receive and send emails, surf the net, on and on all rolled up into those invisible energy molecules. And the tools were getting better, smaller and faster. Yes, Joe public knows what was happening in the world, anywhere, anytime. Communication Technology had given a virtual instantaneous connection for the reporter to the public, buthe glanced across the room at his old fashioned still frame camera mounted on a tripodthat would always be his first love.

She finally made a compromise. "Alright, maybe I had heard wrongly, but I don't know where the smell of the medicine is coming from either. It could be from that street that I walked through when I was out buying items… What's the name of the street again? I forgot, but anyway, there are several drugstores on that street."
She only hoped Lord Fourth would believe her.
"There is indeed a block of drugstores situated at Nan Bian Street and they give off a far-reaching scent. You could whiff the scent of medicine from that street from miles away," uttered Lord Fourth absent-mindedly.
"Yes, yes, yes. It's probably that," Ruoyin said, agreeing with Lord Fourth's words.
Luckily, Lord Fourth did not continue drilling her on this topic and said with indifference, "Alright, you can have the snacks for the time being. There are still some accounts I have yet to audit."
"Yes, my Lord," Ruoyin humbly replied, feeling that she absolutely ought not to be a hindrance to Lord Fourth.
However, she still felt pangs of guilt deep inside with regards to Lord Fourth, for he really wanted a son.
Lord Fourth went to the palace to visit his elders, and they were scrutinizing him and hoping for him to have a son.
In the end, she had gone out to buy some contraceptive soup as a last resort.
She still kept to her decision of dining with Lord Fourth later and did not distract Lord Fourth with the delicious snacks.
She took out a book called The Classic of Mountains and Seas from the bookcase standing at the side. There was no other option. Lord Fourth did not possess books akin to The Tyrannical Emperor Fell in Love with Me; everything was serious reading.
Hehe… Lucky for her, however, she had bought a dozen books of vernacular folklore from the capital today. That should be sufficient for her to while away the time.
For a moment, Lord Fourth was evaluating the documents while Ruoyin was reading The Classic of Mountains and Seas, both conscientious in their undertakings. 
Lord Fourth was done with official work. He turned his head and saw a woman who was reclining on the round-backed chair, fast asleep while holding on to a book.
He could not help but chuckle; he was at his wit's end on how to even scold her.
He got up, walked to Ruoyin's side, and set aside The Classic of Mountains and Seas book that was in her hands. Then, he picked her up, planning to let her rest on the couch.
The slumbering Ruoyin quickly realized she was suspended in the air. Alarmed, she opened her eyes immediately, feeling awash with reverie.
She held on to Lord Fourth tightly out of panic. Without any sense of decorum, one hand of hers was hooked on Lord Fourth's neck while another was clawing into the flesh of Lord Fourth's chest.
Lord Fourth's body jolted at once. He gasped; his cheeks puffed up. He then lowered his head and said with a deep voice, "Let go!"
Ruoyin at first thought she was going to fall, but she then heard there was something not right in Lord Fourth's voice and turned her attention to her own hands.
In the end, after staring at the hand that was clawing into Lord Fourth's rugged muscles, she hurriedly let go.
After that, she used her one hand to beat her other hand that was carelessly teasing Lord Fourth; how dare it take advantage of Lord Fourth!
Lord Fourth could not restrain a smile upon seeing this; it was adorable indeed.
However, still in a very matter-of-fact tone, he stated, "If you're restless again, I will take care of you before the meal."
Ruoyin immediately behaved. She was completely stationary, except for her dark, round eyes that were still darting around playfully.
Lord Fourth lowered his gaze onto Ruoyin in his embrace—she looked lovely in her state of ease; there was really nothing he could do about her.
Immediately after, Lord Fourth instructed the kitchen to prepare their meals.
Ruoyin asked Nanny Liu to plate the chopped beggar's chicken and the rose cakes.
After the meal, Lord Fourth took Ruoyin on a walk around the residence, just to aid digestion.
Their conversation was filled with topics of everyday life and intimate secrets until Lord Fourth mentioned Consort De. "I went to Mother's today and she mentioned you. Do you want to guess what she said?"
Ruoyin was in deep thought for a moment. She had only just recently been allowed contact with Consort De. How could she know?
However, she did not feel that she had done anything wrong today so she dared to ask, "I don't know. Would my Lord be so kind as to let me know?"
Lord Fourth held her hand tight and replied, "Mother said you're doing great. Your appetite has improved from before, which makes you more suitable for carrying children."
The corner of Ruoyin's lips twitched. As it turned out, that was actually a big merit point, but she clearly possessed other merits too. 
However, she decided to play along. "I know. Mother wishes me to give birth to a male heir as soon as possible…"
"There is no need to act with undue haste on this matter. A lot of things are determined by fate: not just the relationships between humans, but also the matter of giving birth," Lord Fourth said to console her.
Ruoyin understood Lord Fourth did not wish for there to be pressure upon her. "Thank you for your consolation, my Lord, but I believe the day will come when I would be able to birth a child for my Lord."
Her words touched the softest reach of his heart. 
He paused for a moment and caressed her nose. "Wasn't that embarrassing, hm?" he said in a deep voice.
Ruoyin only wanted to set Lord Fourth's heart at peace initially, but who knew Lord Fourth would crack such a joke?
She seemed to be a little embarrassed. She tugged at Lord Fourth's arm and shook it. "My Lord, you're mean for making fun of me! I really speak the truth and nothing else."
It seemed that Lord Fourth had become addicted to taking liberties with her. The more her face expressed bashfulness, the more he enjoyed teasing her.
He turned and darted a glance at the subordinates by their sides, startling them. One by one, they turned their bodies and bowed their heads really low.
Then, Lord Fourth reached out and bunched together the fine black hair cascading down the side of her face. He grinned cheekily and whispered into her ear, "Are you thinking about having children? You just need to beg me and I'll gladly help you."
He looked at her, calm and unruffled, wondering how she would react.
How else could she react? Her head was buzzing; how frustrating!
Her eyes were wide open and she stared at Lord Fourth with a look of incredulity. "Having children is not an individual affair; how could my Lord say such words!"
"It is precisely because it is not an individual affair that you should keep me in touch with your needs. I cannot go about doing it blindly. If not, you would blame me should you ever get pregnant," Lord Fourth said, matter-of-factly.
Lord Fourth had only meant it as a joke, but it startled Ruoyin because she felt guilty; how did Lord Fourth manage to convey her inner thoughts out loud?
