This is the story of three bestfriends  who try start a business but meanwhile the religious riots change their lives completely. 

A famous book written by Chetan Bhagat(an Established Indian Writer)

The phone vibrates(a message comes from Sidd).
"Hey Priyuu.. What's up??" Sidd asked.
"Heyyaa.. Alright.." I replied.

Sidd said" I was planning something for tomorrow.."

"What plan??" I asked.

"Would you like to go with me tomorrow to watch a movie or something??" Sidd asked.

"Yaahh.. Sure.. Why not?? We can go for movie..." I said.

"okk done.. I will pick u at 10 a.m." Sidd said.

Next morning I woke up at 8 a.m. then I went to the bathroom and took bath.. I wore a sky blue top and a black jeans with a flat chappal..

Sidd wore a full sleeves white shirt and black jeans and white shoes.

At 10.10 a.m. he came and picked me from my house.. 

The film will start in 11.00 a.m. 

Sidd took two tickets from the counter.. At that time 'Half Girlfriend' was released..

We entered the hall and a song started.. "Yeh mousam ki baarish, yeh baarish ka pani, yeh Pani ki boondein....."

We selected the coner seat at the last row...

Sidd asked,"Are you liking the film?"

"Yaahh this story I had read before.. This story was taken from the novel Half Girlfriend written by Chetan Bhagat."

"Ooooooo.."Sidd replied.

When the film comes to the end.. Me and Sidd kissed each other.. It was our first kiss..

After the film ends.. Sidd dropped me to my home..

"Bye Priyu.." Sidd said.

"Byee Sidd.." I replied.

It's a story of a girl who is very sensitive and falls in love with a boy who loves him very much and he was also very caring for her...One day the girl came to know that she was suffering from a disease and he doesn't tell the boy but when the time comes the father of that girl told him everything i.e.what disease she is suffering from.. First the family of that girl thought that he will not marry her but they were totally wrong and he married her and lived their life very happily...



Just as usual my mom was in kitchen preparing me some breakfast, I can have before leaving to school. I always used to tell her not to prepare and, teach me how to do all those things by myself as I'm no more child but she would act deaf whenever I told her that part. 

I ask her once why you always take care me like four or five years kid by spoonfeeding? 

She replied " it's because when your small you suffer a lot because your father left this world. Where you didn't get enough nutrients unlike your sisters and brother and that's why your not healthy as them ." 

I think that's why she may be is always spoon feeding me like small child. I know anyone would be surprised to know that I don't know how to cook even when am in grade eleven and am 17. I always used to happy at the way my mother treat me though other people treat me like street dogs. But I didn't realize that someday I will have to face the consequence of spoonfeeding while am no longer with my mom.... As usual I ate breakfast as fast as could and leave the house carrying my bag waving goodbye to my mother. 

While I was walking I can see my four friends walking ahead of me by few steps. I can see theem looking back at me and laughing. I don't know what they saw funny about me. I don't want to ruin my whole day because of my stupid friends, so I pretend I didn't hear or see them and walk past them. 

I was walking as if am in hurried while someone ask me " Why are you avoiding us." I could recognise this sound and it's Pema. I stop walking and turn back to face my friends with smirk on their face as if they win over something. 

 " Ummmm....I.. didn't..saw you all...and yeah...am really sorry...I said with my eyes focus on my shoes". 

Then I walk hurriedly before I could hear them speaking something which will made me to cry and I don't want anyone to see me cry. As I walk past them I can feel morning cold breeze which made me much more better. I always like the morning breeze as I can sense that I became more energetic and it's unlike me just different person. That's why I always love walking in the morning as well as evening as I can sense same breeze with that of morning at evening too. 

I enter from the school gate where I can hear many students hugging and enjoying every moment with their friends. I bent my head low and walk faster. As always no one bother me. We have four blocks where the one that was near kitchen ( on the left side of assembly) is for class ten and the one that of right side is for class eleven. And behind that eleven block, it's twelve block as well as mine block. Each block has six rooms with three on top floor and three on bottom. Mine was in top middle class. 

To my left side of my class as well as in front of assembly groud we have staff room as well as principal office. Staffroom were at bottom and principal office is at tope right side and on left it's conference room. At bottom both room are for teachers. I enter my class and sit at my seat, second row as well as column. Besides me there sit a girl name Yuden which hardly talk like me. 

I wait hoping for bell to rang where I should join assembly ground for morning prayer and listen to today's TOD ( teacher on duty) if there is any important information. As I'm short but not shortest, I stand behind a girl with yellow hair which is her natural colour and Infront of her there is again one girl with black hair colour. In short am the third shortest among my girl classmates. 

Soon bell rang for prayer to starts. Well, in my schools before five minutes we have to arrive at any place where we will be having any program. I like about that timing as me too hate wasting time unnecessary. I can see all students were gathered at assembly before minutes and wait for bell to rang. Me too wait in my line searching teachers whether all my subject teachers are present or not. I frown myself after I saw my all subject teachers are present. 

Soon bell rang for the prayers to start and we all start our prayers. Around twenty minutes standing on assembly ground we desperse to our class on line and there isn't any important information as today TOD doesn't say much about the day. So I enter my classroom where I can hear many students chatting and laughing and soon voice drop as teachers enter the class. First we have biology which is optional. Some students leave the classroom where some students sit which means they are interested to learn biology just like me. 

I love science subjects when am in class eight. As one of my science teacher inspired me to love science. So my ambition was also to become someone who work at hospital. I want to help people cure from any diseases as far as possible. I feel sad when I saw people cry as they can't see any way to cure their disease in helpless but I want to console them with warm heart and I will always love to stay by those people who cry in helpless. 

There my biology teacher enter the class. He was wearing a gho which is called mathra and his hair was long as it seems like he has just awake now. He haven't apply any hair oil. I laugh myself from inside looking at his hair which is like bird nest but soon I act serious as I know he may get angry if someone was laughing at his look as anyone can get angry. As I look around all students have same face as me, where I conclude that they too had thought same as me. 

As usual school end. I again walk myself home thinking that my friends would never ask me to walk with them. I reach home after fifteen minutes walk as I walk slowly reading novel, half girlfriend by Chetan Bhagat. I love reading novel and sometimes I would read three novel a week. But these days I read one novel a week as I have to focus on my study as well as I have to do my homework every night. So I hardly get time to read novels unlike before when am in grade nine and ten. Sometimes I have to do project work which is for two years,( class eleven to twelve).

Samten was a lonely girl where everyone hate her . she was alone and sad until someone enter into her life. But .....??
It was a work of fiction. Everything about characters are authors imagination.

I ENTER the Crossword store closest to my house in Pune. It's a very small bookstore, almost like an indie one. The interior is as yellow as it gets, with yellowish bookshelves and thin dark yellow walls. The ceiling lights are white that feeds the silhouette of the room. This is literally like every other Crossword store but smaller; the smell of books everywhere, and at the top of every shelf is a black and white picture of world renowned Indian authors like Kiran Desai, Jhumpa Lahiri, Salman Rushdi, Chetan Bhagat, Arundhati Roy and so on. 

     I haven't planned a book yet. So I just walk around through the fiction and poetry section browsing for a book while the worker at the store kept giving me side eyes as if I were to pick a book and run away. I run my hands along the books and try to think of which to check off the bundle. I spend hours like that. Suddenly I realise that I haven't even picked up a book and read it's synopsis. I was judging them by their covers. 

     Not a lot of them looked very pretty, but some of them had very fancy covers. The fancy books even looked expensive. It reminded me of the time I once ignored "Twenty Love Poems and A Song Of Despair" by Pablo Neruda just because of its simplistic cover of a faceless naked man whose knee is folded in towards his chin, although today it is one of the best books I've ever read. I cast the book away from the list of books I had picked up, just like the Dean of my college once threw me out because I wore a three-fourth shorts to exams. But I never faced this problem in libraries, where almost every book is of the base brown, black and blue color with cream coloured pages. 

     I remember reading about this in "The Clothing of Books" by Jhumpa Lahiri where she talks about personal experiences with clothing and how the same thing is suffered by books. I also read a blog where the writer keeps telling the reader that a cover should be an interpreter of the contents but at the same time mysterious and attractive. And it made me feel like book covers are more seductive than artistic. 

     But what if book covers had no artistic base? There wouldn't be any fancy attractive covers. There won't be any type of judgement towards reading. The book would give away less of it's contents and more of the author's name and so of the book. 

     That's something that's common in Italy, France, Germany and other European countries where the cover of the books are similar in color and outlook but every content differs. Some book covers don't have the calibre to carry the artistic weight of books. They are more of a marketing technique or a money making process out of indelible work. 

     I walk out of the store empty handed thinking, what if books didn't have covers?

Bhagat had exceptional concentration , you can also say concentration was his expertise because according to the common estimate of the attention span of healthy teenagers and adults range from 10 to 20 minutes without becoming distracted, but Bhagat would go hours without becoming distracted during his studies as it was inhumanely impossible for someone to spend 20 hrs a day studying ( which he did for his senior year in high school). even if he was distracted he would be back to his priority. so, he immediately continued punching the earth dummy even after being distracted by the quest window.

After punching the dummy for straight 5 hrs , Bhagat stood with puzzled look watching the quest window.

he was only able to throw 1 perfect punch , but what puzzled him the most was that he just punched the dummy for 5 hrs continuously but did not feel a least bit exhausted.

when he checked for Fatigue in his status it showed Nil, which surprised Bhagat because he was punching the dummy for 5 hrs straight he should be gasping for breath 2 hours earlier even with his increased stats , there has to be something else at play here thought Bhagat trying to figure out the reason behind his lack of fatigue.

" Asmi there is something wrong with your calculation, you also know I have thrown more punches then that number" retorted Bhagat as with his current stats he could throw more than 10 punches in a second.

[ Host , punching doesn't not mean throwing your fist at your opponent it requires techniques with preventativeness and calculativeness to call it a punch, otherwise it will do you more harm then your enemy. try to remember how you therw those two perfect punch]

" I was trying to mimic Sylvester Stallone in Rocky like in the movie when he practices his punches by punching the hanging pig meat in the refrigerator. I think it is not working because I only got 2 perfect punch in last five hrs. I think I should get more references from YouTube or something"

Bhagat searched for perfect punch in YouTube and found many different videos which summarized to the following

»Lean your head over slightly, tuck your chin, and look at your target while punching.

All this was noted from the punches which satisfied Asmi's conditions for a perfect punch.

Bhagat tried to throw the punches with reference to the video but some how he became more self conscious and was only able to throw about 17 perfect punches in next 3 hrs.

As Bhagat replied he started to feel numbness in his muscles all over the body and slowly lost the control over his muscles and motor sense . his arms, feet, leg, torso and hip started to move by them self in a manner of throwing punches as shown in the YouTube videos, one after the other like puppet attached to strings, in a robotic manner but perfect. slowly the the way his body moved started to become vivid with every punch thrown like in a rhythm 1, 2,1, 2, 1, 2... first it was just the straight punches then the body added upper cut in the punches afterwards jabs and hooks thrown in to the mix forming a new rhythm. The speed of the rhythm increased with every punch along the passing time until the perfect punch count reached (10,000/10,000) and a notification Window popped in front of Bhagat's eyes

a whole lot of information was dumped in Bhagat's brain and little soreness in the muscles near his hip, torso , leg ,feet , arms and fist. it felt as if he had spent a eternity just punching but still could not get enough of it.

with that Bhagat moved in front of the earth dummy to try out his new skill on it and started to barrage it with punches like a machine gun with his increased inhumane stats and the attack speed buff from the skill Bhagat therw almost 17 perfect punches per sec  that is 1020 punches per minute, the punches were almost blur to a naked eye.

"Asmi don't you think this is a little over powered for a mortal grade skill , considering the mortal grade as the least grade "

[ Yes host, mortal grade is the least grade. this skill for a normal awakened human would be thrash because with every perfect punch he would gain 3 fatigue and barley able to throw about 30 punches before his fatigue is full and he is unable to battle.

 host  with the increase of fatigue there is decrease in attack speed, accuracy, critical rate and in extreme conditions health started to decrease in a alarming rate, etc.  the skill requires 3 fatigue because it lands a perfect and accurate punch in a instant without getting affected by any amount of pressure and stress amassed on the users sense and body.

with that thought in his mind he started to reference YouTube for perfect kicks , the resulted search blew Bhagat's brain so specified his search to kicking for dummies.

without the help of Asmi, Bhagat tried to kick the dummy in different ways , like straight kicking, side thrust kick , side snap kick, round house kick , rear leg round house kick. he continued kicking for 2 hrs before he triggered a quest

Bhagat again felt like a puppet with strings attached as his body started to move by itself and threw kicks at the dummy at first the movements were bit rusty machine like but slowly it began to be lucid. the body threw different style kicks in a rhythm slowly increasing the pace of kicks until reaching acme of its tempo.

Arjun left his home to head to the Central Badminton Court for his second round of the tournament. As he expected, Ira was waiting for him around the corner of his street. This time Ira was smart enough to cover her face so that she wouldn’t get mobbed by people. 

 

Ira and Arjun didn’t have to wait for a long time for Arjun’s turn as his match was the first one for the day. Both of them thought it was fortunate. Arjun didn’t get too worked up like the last time as he did not watch a lot of people play before him. But his consternation was on point, he was panicking. 

“Calm your mind, Aju. Think of your mom. Good luck.” Ira said, embracing him. 

Arjun did some pre-match warm ups and his adrenal seemed to get under control. 

“Arjun, exhausting your opponent is the key. Keep him chasing the shuttle. Try your best to send the shuttle faster than his speed of reaching it.” Ira said, as a last minute strategy. 

 

Arjun’s new opponent was bulkier than his former one. He reflected the image of being a long time player. 

“Come on, Aju.” Ira cheered, as Arjun was prepping up to serve. 

Everyone looked at Ira as her voice boomed. She got utterly embarrassed and turned a dark shade of pink. Arjun giggled at her and started playing. 

As Ira had suggested, Arjun made sure he got his opponent running all over his half court. But other than that, Arjun’s play was very poor compared to his competitor. 

Ira knew Arjun was playing at his worst, mostly because he got discouraged with the look of his opponent. 

Arjun kept giving his opponent easy shots, which his opponent returned with drop shots and smashes. 

By the end of the match, Arjun’s score was 15-21. A clear win by the other player. 

 

“ARJUN VS MAAZ, 0 - 1. SWAP SIDES AND THE MATCH CONTINUES.” said the commentator. 

 

Maaz walked off court to sip some water. Using that time, Ira signaled Arjun. Arjun walked over to Ira and said, “He’s very good. I couldn’t think of a way to overcome his strategy.” 

“He is, but not better than you. Now listen, you did a great job in tiring him. His capacity will decrease gradually. What you have to do is, copy his strategy, it will confuse him. You will see him thinking of a new strategy, that’s where you know he’s got weak. Then you play to your strengths. He seems strong in drop shots and smash, don’t give him a chance for either of those. Go, go. For your mom.” Ira said, hastily. 

 

As the umpire’s whistle went off, the shuttle came flying towards Arjun. He moved forward and took a smash. Maaz’s mouth dropped, the judges gasped, the audience gob smacked and Ira’s eyes bulged out. Arjun himself looked thunderstruck with his move. 

“It’s illegal.” his competitor stated. 

Soft mumbles broke among the judges, after an intense discussion, Arjun’s move was declared legal as he took the shot after the server moved from his place. 

The game continued and Maaz was confused to the moon and back as Arjun started mirroring his tricks. Arjun made sure he didn’t give a single opportunity for a drop shot or a smash to the other player. The match ended with Arjun smashing the shuttle left and right, accurate drop shots and a final far shot which was inches away from crossing the boundary line. 

 
 

“SCORE IS ONE ALL, SWITCH SIDES AGAIN PLAYERS. GOOD LUCK.” 

 

The last match was won easily by Arjun making him a clear winner. By the final game, Maaz was knackered. Arjun barely tried to defeat Maaz. It occurred as if Maaz had given up half a way through the third match. 

 
 

“ARJUN RAJASHEKAR HAS MADE IT TO THE THIRD ROUND WITH THE SCORE 2 - 1. GOOD GAME PLAYERS.” 

 

“Aju..” Ira said, her eyes sparkling in surprise. 

“Ira..” Arjun said, smiling at her. 

“What you did on the second..” 

“The service smash was cool, right?” 

“Cool..? It was out of the world.” she said, smitten. 

 

Both of them sat for another three to four hours watching the others play. Half of the time Ira kept repeating herself on how sensational Arjun’s performance was until Arjun had to ask her to stop. 

 

From that match onwards, there was no stopping for Arjun. He won matches after matches, giving his all in every game. As he hoped, he made it into the final round. 

 

And the day had finally arrived, it was the morning of his final match. Arjun was not troubled about winning, because he was anyway into the state level. As he had promised his sister that he would take her with him to watch the final match if he made it till there, Kavi, who was a teacher in a primary school took a day off to accompany her brother. 

“Kavi, I’ve told Ira to get her car. She will be waiting at the end of our street. I’ll tell dad that I will be dropping you at the school today, but instead we will go to the court. I’ll leave the bike near the park so that we all can go together in Ira’s car.” 

“The plan is satisfactory, but I don’t understand why you can’t go without your COACH partnering along, I mean we two can fit well enough in your bike.” his sister said, sniggering. 

“Oh, be quiet. It’s nothing like you are presuming. Thought it would be nice to introduce her.” 

“Oh okaaay!” 

His sister was not mistaken. Arjun had got used to Ira’s company so much that he couldn’t spend a day without meeting her. But he was not sure if it was anything like how his sister thought it would be. The feeling Arjun got when he was with Ira was protectiveness, care and loads of happiness. He felt secured with her. He felt as though he could be himself around her. 

 

“Ira, this is Kavya, my..” Arjun said, as he and his sister approached Ira. 

“Your sister. Hello, I am Ira, Arjun’s…” Ira said, looking at Arjun hoping he would help her with what to complete the sentence. When Arjun didn’t come off as a lot of help, she completed the sentence stating herself to be his friend. 

“Nice to meet you, Ira.” Kavi said. She was a short and cute girl with beautiful long black hair. Her eyes, like her brother's, were of a deep shade of brown but the only difference was that it was too dark which made it look more like black than brown. 

“The pleasure’s mine. Aju has said a lot about you.” 

“So did that help in creating a good impression about me or worse?” 

“The best.” 

“Now if your ‘women’ talks are over, can we get to the court?” Arjun asked, cutting off the two ladies. 

Ira drove the car, Arjun was seated in the passenger side and his sister took the back seat. The drive was completed in undeclared silence. As the trio arrived at the entrance, Kavya’s phone rang, she picked it up asking for a minute to the remaining two. 

“Oi, you go. I’ll wait behind with her.” Arjun said. 

“No, you go. Just in case the match is already starting.” 

Arjun obeyed Ira and steered inside. After a few minutes, Kavi disconnected the line and stepped over to Ira. 

“Where is Aju?” 

“He’s gone inside. If you are done, shall we?” Ira said, gesturing towards the entrance. 

“Yeah sure.” 

“You know, Arjun speaks highly of you. He loves you. More than anything in this world.” Ira said. 

“He’s a sweetheart. He matters the world to me. Unlike other boys of his age, he never complained about the family burden on his shoulders. He did everything for me and dad, for the first time he is doing something he loves. I have to thank you for that.” 

“Oh please don’t make me feel like an outsider. I am glad to be a part of his dream.” 

“You are the first ever girl he has got close to. He might not accept it, but I think he is very attached to you.” his sister said, smiling. 

“I…” 

“Here you are. The match is starting in fifteen minutes. Arjun said, marching towards them. 

Arjun led Ira and his sister to the seating. The three of them settled down onto their seats. 

“What’s up mister? You look oddly relaxed today.” Ira said. 

“Oh, that’s because winning or losing won’t matter this time, will it? So I’m chilled out.” 

“It does matter. Just because losing isn’t going to cost you anything, doesn’t mean you are ready to lose. I’m here to see my brother win. I can deal with you losing after trying but never will I stand you giving up.” Kavi said, raged. 

“Your sister is right, Aju. Play every match of yours as if your life depends on it. Be an optimist, not a situationist.” Ira stated. 

“I’m sorry girls. I was..” 

“THE FINAL MATCH OF 2019 DISTRICT LEVEL WILL BE BEGINNING SHORTLY. PLAYERS BRACE YOURSELVES. GOOD LUCK.” 

 

The colour in Arjun’s face started evaporating. He swallowed hard. His eyes swaying between his opponent and the court. 

“Ira, help me.” he said, anxiously. 

“Ha-ha. Now you are in form.” Ira said, winking at him. 

“Fast….Tell something.” 

“Something.” 

“Have you lost your mind? This is not the time to joke.” 

“The match is yours, mate. Play it your way.” Ira said, smiling. 

“What if I lose?” 

“Doesn’t matter. I won’t complain. Will you mind Kavya?” 

“Not at all.” his sister said. 

 

“FIVE MORE MINUTES FOR THE MATCH TO START.” 

 

“Okay I got to go.” Arjun said, standing up. 

His sister got up and hugged her brother, wishing him luck. Ira gave Arjun a slight squeeze and whispered into his ears “I trust you.” 

Arjun stretched a bit and made his way to the court. 

 

“Heads or tails?” the umpire asked. 

“Heads.” Arjun called, as the coin twisted in the air. 

“Toss won by Arjun.” announced the umpire. 

 

“IT’S MR. CHETAN RAJ VS MR. ARJUN RAJASHEKAR. ARJUN WILL TAKE THE FIRST SERVICE.” said the announcer. 

 

Arjun focused hard on delivering a perfect serve. He played to his strengths, the clear shot and net kill. He made sure his footwork was quintessential. He kept his wrist flexible so as to be ready for any kind of shot. But all of Arjun’s efforts seemed unrequired because his opponent kept missing his shuttle too easily. Chetan was letting Arjun get his clear shot and net kill right away. 

 

Arjun was not convinced with his opponent’s play. He thought it was uncertain for such a weak player to make it till the finals unless he was faking his skills. In between his thoughts, he could hear his favourite girls cheering for him. 

“Aju...Aju” Kavi said, making his name sound like a hymn. 

“You are stupefying. Keep going Arjun.” Ira exhilarated. 

 

Chetan gave an obvious shot for Arjun to smash it but Ira’s voice inside his head told him to let it go. Without a second thought, he caved in to the voice. 

 

“THE SCORE IS 15 - 19 FOR CHETAN.” 

 

The next couple shots Arjun intentionally missed were where he was supposed to take a drop shot or a smash. His opponent’s mind displayed itself through his actions. Chetan was trying to find out Arjun’s weakness and strengths. The score was now 19 - 17 for Arjun. It was time to end the game. He went for a drop shot and a false long shot to finish the match. 

 

“TRADE SIDES. POINTS 1-0 FOR ARJUN. THE GAME IS STILL ON, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.” 

 

Just as Arjun expected, Chetan was making sure he wouldn’t give a clear shot or net kill to Arjun. Arjun let his opponent play, studying his skills. Chetan was impressive with his drop shots and net kill but he was horrendous with backhands. Arjun kept chasing him with a gap of 2 points constantly. 

 

The match was approaching its end. Arjun knew it was now or never. 

Arjun started targeting Chetan’s backhands. As Chetan started struggling with his play, Arjun kicked off to rotate his shots to put his opponent out of position. 

 

“CHETAN FINDS THE NET AND ARJUN WINS!!” 

 

Arjun ran to his sister and Ira who were springing on spot. Ira leaned forward to hug him but his sister reacted sooner. Ira stepped away, giving the siblings their space. Ira got used to being the one to hug Arjun first, after every match when he came off winning the game, worn out. 

She became distressed about her growing possessiveness over Arjun, when someone’s strong arms pulled her towards a pounding heart. She gave in to the safe feeling, her eyes closed as her ears were mesmerised by the sound of the beating heart. The resonating Lub-Dub..Lub-Dub was heard as I’m here...I’m here to her. She looked up at a pair of brown eyes staring down at her. 

“We did it.” said Arjun’s voice, pleased with the triumph. 

“You did it.” Ira said, in a feeble voice. 

 

“FINAL SCORE 21 - 18. WITH MAJORITY WINS, ARJUN RAJASHEKAR WON THE MATCH.” 

 

“Good play.” Chetan said, shaking Arjun’s hand, who had walked over to the trio. 

“You too.” Arjun said, smiling. 

 

“Time to celebrate.” Kavi squeaked, as Chetan walked away from them. 

Ira who had hid behind Arjun so that she didn’t have to answer the question “Aren’t you Ira? The badminton champion.” for the hundredth time, moved forward and squeaked, “Yes, time to celebrate.”

Arjun left his home to head to the Central Badminton Court for his second round of the tournament. As he expected, Ira was waiting for him around the corner of his street. This time Ira was smart enough to cover her face so that she wouldn't get mobbed by people.
 
Ira and Arjun didn't have to wait for a long time for Arjun's turn as his match was the first one for the day. Both of them thought it was fortunate. Arjun didn't get too worked up like the last time as he did not watch a lot of people play before him. But his consternation was on point, he was panicking.
"Calm your mind, Aju. Think of your mom. Good luck." Ira said, embracing him.
Arjun did some pre-match warm ups and his adrenal seemed to get under control.
"Arjun, exhausting your opponent is the key. Keep him chasing the shuttle. Try your best to send the shuttle faster than his speed of reaching it." Ira said, as a last minute strategy.
 
Arjun's new opponent was bulkier than his former one. He reflected the image of being a long time player.
"Come on, Aju." Ira cheered, as Arjun was prepping up to serve.
Everyone looked at Ira as her voice boomed. She got utterly embarrassed and turned a dark shade of pink. Arjun giggled at her and started playing.
As Ira had suggested, Arjun made sure he got his opponent running all over his half court. But other than that, Arjun's play was very poor compared to his competitor. 
Ira knew Arjun was playing at his worst, mostly because he got discouraged with the look of his opponent. 
Arjun kept giving his opponent easy shots, which his opponent returned with drop shots and smashes.
By the end of the match, Arjun's score was 15-21. A clear win by the other player.
 
"ARJUN VS MAAZ, 0 - 1. SWAP SIDES AND THE MATCH CONTINUES." said the commentator.
 
Maaz walked off court to sip some water. Using that time, Ira signaled Arjun. Arjun walked over to Ira and said, "He's very good. I couldn't think of a way to overcome his strategy."
"He is, but not better than you. Now listen, you did a great job in tiring him. His capacity will decrease gradually. What you have to do is, copy his strategy, it will confuse him. You will see him thinking of a new strategy, that's where you know he's got weak. Then you play to your strengths. He seems strong in drop shots and smash, don't give him a chance for either of those. Go, go. For your mom." Ira said, hastily.
 
As the umpire's whistle went off, the shuttle came flying towards Arjun. He moved forward and took a smash. Maaz's mouth dropped, the judges gasped, the audience gob smacked and Ira's eyes bulged out. Arjun himself looked thunderstruck with his move.
"It's illegal." his competitor stated.
Soft mumbles broke among the judges, after an intense discussion, Arjun's move was declared legal as he took the shot after the server moved from his place.
The game continued and Maaz was confused to the moon and back as Arjun started mirroring his tricks. Arjun made sure he didn't give a single opportunity for a drop shot or a smash to the other player. The match ended with Arjun smashing the shuttle left and right, accurate drop shots and a final far shot which was inches away from crossing the boundary line. 
 
"SCORE IS ONE ALL, SWITCH SIDES AGAIN PLAYERS. GOOD LUCK."
 
The last match was won easily by Arjun making him a clear winner. By the final game, Maaz was knackered. Arjun barely tried to defeat Maaz. It occurred as if Maaz had given up half a way through the third match.
 
"ARJUN RAJASHEKAR HAS MADE IT TO THE THIRD ROUND WITH THE SCORE 2 - 1. GOOD GAME PLAYERS."
 
"Aju.." Ira said, her eyes sparkling in surprise.
"Ira.."  Arjun said, smiling at her.
"What you did on the second.."
"The service smash was cool, right?"
"Cool..? It was out of the world." she said, smitten. 
 
Both of them sat for another three to four hours watching the others play. Half of the time Ira kept repeating herself on how sensational Arjun's performance was until Arjun had to ask her to stop.
 
From that match onwards, there was no stopping for Arjun. He won matches after matches, giving his all in every game. As he hoped, he made it into the final round.
 
And the day had finally arrived, it was the morning of his final match. Arjun was not troubled about winning, because he was anyway into the state level. As he had promised his sister that he would take her with him to watch the final match if he made it till there, Kavi, who was a teacher in a primary school took a day off to accompany her brother.
"Kavi, I've told Ira to get her car. She will be waiting at the end of our street. I'll tell dad that I will be dropping you at the school today, but instead we will go to the court. I'll leave the bike near the park so that we all can go together in Ira's car." 
"The plan is satisfactory, but I don't understand why you can't go without your COACH partnering along, I mean we two can fit well enough in your bike." his sister said, sniggering.
"Oh, be quiet. It's nothing like you are presuming. Thought it would be nice to introduce her."

Rahel sudah bersiap untuk pergi kesekolah untuk kegiatan sleksi anggota osis baru dan Rahel tidak dianter oleh pak Tatang melainkan Vano yang akan menjemputnya.
Rahel sudah sarapan dan sedang menunggu Vano didepan gerbang rumahnya sambil melihat notif yang masuk di HPnya,Rahel membuka WhatsApp nya membaca chetan dari teman temannya.

"Brisik banget lu"Ucap Rahel kesal dan masuk kedalam mobil dan duduk disamping Vano.
"Vano lo nyetir sendiri dari rumah lu kerumah gue?"Tanya Rahel bingung.
"Yang lu liat gimana,disini ada supir gue atau engga ada?"Tanya Vano yang mendapatkan gelengan dari Rahel.

Vano pun menjalankan mobilnya dan meninggalkan Halaman Rumah Rahel.

"Van,lo emeng bisa bawa mobil dan Bonyok lo engga marah gitu?"Tanya Rahel yang takut mereka dimarahin oleh orang tua Vano.
Vano menceritakan gimana dia diberi ijin oleh orang tuanya.

Malam pun tiba,Keluarga Vano sedang berkumpul diRuang Keluarga,Ada papanya Vano yang bernama RONI ALEXSANDER dan Bundanya bernama Dinda Wulandari,dan Adiknya bernama KISYA RATU ALEXSANDER,mereka berempat sedang menikmati malam ini.
"Pah,besok Kaka ada kegiatan disekolah,emmm...boleh engga klo kaka bawa mobil kaka sendiri"Ucap Vano ragu-ragu takut papanya marah.
"Boleh,tapi ada satu syarat"Ucap papanya Vano sambil melihat kearah anak laki-lakinya.
"Apa?"Tanya Vano penuh penasaran.
"Kamu harus ikut keacara perusahaan papa,dan kamu harus beli baju yang sopan dan Rapi"Jawab Papa nya yang membuat Vano mengeluarkan nafasnya.
"Okeh,kali ini Vano ikut"Jawab pasrah untuk memenuhi syarat dari papahnya.

Vano memeng jarang ikut atau perlu dibilang dia tidak suka keacara seperti itu.
"Ye,kaka ikut ,gini dong sekali kali ikut kacara perusahaan papa"Ucap Kisya sambil memeluk kakanya.

"Acaranya selesai jam 3 sore tapi itu untuk anggota osis baru tapi untuk kita baru jam setengah 4 baru pulang"Jawab Vano yang tetap fokus menyetir.
"Jam setangah 4 sore kan itu jam macet macetnya Jakarta ya?"Tanya Rahel yang mendapat anggukan dari Vano.
"Yahhh...pasti gue sampe jam 5 atau engga jam setengah 6 dong"Ucap Rahel dengan wajah sedih."Gimana gue mau ke mall buat cari novel yang baru keluar,klo besok pasti udah habis"Ucap Rahel lagi yang memasang wajah sedih.
"Emmm...emeng lu mau ke mall hari buat cari Novel yang lu mau itu?"Tanya Vano yang memiliki niat mengajak Rahel ke mall menemaninya mencari baju untuk keacara perusahaan papanya.
"Mau banget tapi gimana lagi"Jawab Rahel yang masih memasang Wajah sedihnya.

hampir 20menit Mobil Vano melaju dijalan dan sudah sampe diparkiran Sekolahnya.Nampak sudah banyak anggota osis baru dan teman osisnya.
Rahel dan Vano berjalan kearah temen-temennya.
"Huhh kalian berdua ini buat kami cemburu aja"Ucap Dini salah satu anggota osis.
"Cemburu maksud lo apa?"Tanya Rahel bingung dengan ucapan Dini.
"Kalian kan pacaran"Jawab Dini yang membuat Rahel dan Vano terkejut.
"PACARAAAANN"Ucap Rahel dangan Nada keras dan memandang Vano disebelahnya.
"Fan,suara lu keras amat kaya toa masjid aja"Ucap Fadli sambil menutup telinganya.
"Brisik lo Fad,Siapa bilang kami berdua Pacaran,hah?"Tanya Rahel dengan Nada suara kesal.
"Lah,semua siswa siswi SMP PELITA BANGSA udah ngira lo berdua pacaran kali"Jawab Aqila.
"Ta-tapi..."Ucapan Rahel yang terpotong oleh suara Zio memanggil semua calon Anggota osis baru dan membuat Rahel kesal.
"Ayo kita baris didepan anggota osis baru,apa kata ade kelas kita klo kita aja engga baris didepan mereka"Ucap Fargo dan membuat semua temen temennya berjalan kearah Zio dan Fadhli yang sudah berada dilapangan utama.
Vano mengambil alih tugas Zio yang sudah membariskan calon anggota osis baru.

"SUDAH KA"JAWAB CALON ANGGOTA OSIS BARU SERENTAK.
"KLO BEGITU KALIAN BARIS DENGAN 
KELOMPOK MASING-MASING"UCAP VANO DAN MENDAPATKAN ANGGUKAN DARI CALON ANGGOTA OSIS BARU.
Sementara calon anggota osis baru berbaris dan anggota osis yang bertugas dibagian pos segera pergi kepos,dan yang bertugas menjadi bina damping menghampiri kelompoknya masing masing.
Kelompok 1 sudahh jalan terlebih dulu kepos 1 setelahh 5 menit kelompok 1 jalaln kelompok 2 jalan kepos 1.
Sedangkan Vano dan Rahel berjalan ke pos3,sesampainya dipos mereka berdua duduk dikursi yang sudah disiapkan oleh panitia perlengkapan.
Rahel dan Vano sama sama diam,Vano yang merasa aneh dan memulai pembicaraan.

"Hmmmmm"Vano berdehem dan rahel melirik kearah Vano sebentar dan lanjut melihat kedepan.
"Lu,kenapa kok diam aja,masih mikir tentang novel yang lu mau beli?"Tanya Vano sambil melihat wajah Rahel sedih ples kesal.
"SOTOYY"Jawab Rahel dengan nada kesal dan tetap melihat kearah Depan.
"Atau lu masih mikirin ucapan Aqila dan temen² tadi?"Tanya Vano yang masih menebak nebak.
"Y"Jawab Rahel singkat.
"Terus,Lu mau nya gimana?"Tanya Vano yang sudah tau kenapa Rahel mulai tadi diem.
"Engga tau"Jawab Rahel yang masih terliat kesal.

Vano da Rahel sama sama diam,dan sama sama memainkan HP mereka.
Disisi lain Kelompok 1 sudah berjalan kearah pos 2 dan kelompok 2 sudah berada dipos 1.
sekitar 10menit kelompok 1 meneruskan perjalanan ke pos 3.
Dipos 1 zio,Fadhli,dan Dini sedang menunggu kelompok 3 karna kelompok 2 sudah berjalan ke pos 2.

"Din,gimana ekspresinya Fanza dan Vano tadi?"Tanya Zio sambil melihat kearah dini.
"Hahaaha...Ekspresi Fanza luar biasa syok mendengar berita pacarannya dengan Vano,dan diluar dugaanku ekspresinya Vano ikut terkejut banget" Jawab Dini sambil tertawa dan diikuti oleh Zio dan Fadhli."Terus pas Fanza mau gomong Lu menyuruh semua calon anggota osis baru tambah kesel Fanza"Lanjut Dini yang tetap tertawa.
"Tapi ya menurut gue Vano sama Fanza tu cocok kan,menurut kalian gimana?" Tanya Fadhli menatap kedua temennya.
"Cocok banget menurut gue"Jawab Dini sambil tersenyum kepada Fadhli seketika mata mereka berdua bertemu dan saling menatap dan tersenyum.
"HMMMMM"Dehem Zio yang membuat Dini salah tingkah dan Fadhli diam sambil mengambil HP nya.
"Kalian berdua kenapa salah tingkah"Ucap Zio sambil tertawa.
"Salah tingkah,maksud lu ap?"Tanya Dini balik yang membuat Zio menahan ketawanya.
"Pikir aja sendiri CK!!klo lu berdua jadian gue harus dapat PJ yah"Ucap Zio sambil mengedipkan sebelah matanya"

Kelompok 3 sudah sampai dan harus diberi pertanyaan dari mereka.
Dan dipos 3,Rahel dan Vano sedang memberi tugas kepada kelompok 1.
"Okeh tugas kalian dipos 3 ini yang paling mudah,kalian bawa Cabe,Bawang merah,dan Bawang putih kan?"Tanya Vano kepada Kelompok 1.
"Bawa ka"Ucap kelompok 1serentak.
"Nah untuk kamu(Andi)makan bawang putih,kamu dan kamu(Raisa dan mila) makan Bawang merah dan kamu(Nisa) makan Cabe dan kalo udah minum air yang kalian bawa"Perintahh Vano dan mendapatkan anggukan dari kelompok 1.
Mereka pun memakan pilihan dari Vano, dan Rahel sedang mencatat nama nama kelompok 1.
ketika sudah selesai mereka diberi tanda tangan oleh Vano dan Rahel dan mereka beristirahat sambil menunggu kelompok lain selesai.

Hampir 1jam meraka menyeleksi calon anggota Osis baru.
Dan dipukul 11 siang semua kelompok sudah selesai disleksi,dan meraka semua maupun itu Calon anggota baru dan Anggota Osis beristirahat.
Rahel,Vano,Fadhli,Zio,dan Dini berjalan keluar gerbang sekolah untuk makan bakso yang ada dipinggir jalan dekat sekolahnya.Sesampainya diwarung bakso mereka langsung diduduk dibangku yang sudah disiapkan.
"Kalian pesan apa,biar gue yang bilangin ke akangnya"Ucap Zio sambil berdiri dan menunggu jawaban dari temen²nya.
"Gue bakso banyakin pangsitnya sama es teh manis"Jawab Dini
"Gue samain sama punya dini aja"Jawab Rahel sambil membaringkan kepalanya dimeja.
"Gue bakso biasa terus sama es jeruk" Jawab Vano.
"Gue bakso sama es teh"Jawab Fadhli.
"Okeh,tunggu"Jawab Zio sambil membuntuk jarinya huruf "O"

Dini,Fadhli dan Vano memainkan HP mereka sambil menunggu pesanan mereka,sedangkan Rahel masih aja membaringkan kepala dan memejamkan mata,Hari ini mood nya lagi tidak baik,setelah mendengar bahwa pulang jam setengah 4,dan pas sampe dibilang pacaran ama Vano tambah menghancurkan moodnya.Zio pun datang dan membawa pesanannya dan pesanan temennya dibawa oleh akang bakso dan anaknya.
"Nih pesan kalian"Ucap Zio sambil meletakkan pesanannya dan diikuti oleh akang dan anaknya meletakkan pesan mereka bertiga.
Dini,Fadhli,dan Vano meletakkan HP nya dimeja.Mereka berempat yang menyadari Rahel tidak bergeming dari posisinya saling memandang satu sama lain,dan akhirnya Dini memukul pelan  tangan Rahel,tetapi belum bangun.
"Fan,Fanza lu tidur ya pesan lo udah datang nie"Ucap Dini sambil berbisik ditelinga Rahel dan memukul pelan pipi milik Rahel dan mendapatkan tanda tanda bahwa Rahel sudah bangun dari tidurnya sebentar.
"Hmmm...nie gue udah bangun kok"Ucap Rahel sambil berduduk dengan posis yang benar dan mengusap Matanya.
Zio,Fadhli,Dini dan Vano mulai menunangkan Saos dibakso bereka dan mengaduk aduknya dan memakannya.
Sedang Rahel masih memandang Temennya makan.
"Lu kenapa liatin kami makan?"Ucap Vano yang menyadari bahwa Rahel memandangi mereka bertiga.
"HMMM"Jawab Rahel sambil mengambil saos dan menunangkan dibaksonya.

Mereka berlima memakan bakso mereka masing² dalam diam hanya terdengar suara sendok mereka.
20menit mereka selesai makan dan membayar bakso mereka masing² dan pulang kesekolah untuk solat berjamaah dimusolla sekolah.selesai mereka semua solat berjamaah dimusolla dan meanjutkan kegiatan materi.
Sekitar 1jam didalam ruangan Aula yang sudah ada disekolah mereka.
Dan tak terasa jam menunjukkan jam 2,Anggota osis sedang berdiskusi tentang jabatan anggota osis baru yang berjumlah 24 orang selama 15menit dan sudah memutuskan Jabatan anggota osis baru dan perubahan jabatan Ketua sampai bandahara osis yang baru.

Tak terasa jam menunjukkan pukul 3 lewat 15 menit dan semua anggota osis baru sudah pulang sisa anggota yang lama yang sedang membersihkan halaman dana aula yang dipakai untuk kegiatan hari ini dan selesai jam 3 lewat 45 menit dan mereka pulang kerumah masing masing dan tetap Vano dan Rahel pulang bersama dan sialnya lagi memeng benar jakarta macet yang membuat Rahel tambah kesal.
"Kenapa sih macet mulu nie jalan"Ucap Rahel yang moodnya kurang baik.
"Namanya juga Jakarta"Jawab Vano sambil melirik kearah Rahel.
"Tambah buat mood gue hancur aja"lanjut Rahel yang terlihat kesal.
"Lu mau ke mall kan,klo mau kita langsung ke Mall aja"Ucap Vano yang membuat Rahel melihat kearahnya.
"Beneran lu mau ke mall,engga salah"Ucap Rahel yang tidak percaya.
"Beneran tapi ada syaratnya"ucap Vano yang masih fokus dengan jalanan yang macet.
"Apa syaratnya,tapi lu harus teraktir gue ya"Ucap Rahel sambil menunjuk vano dengan jarinya.
"Iya,tapi lo harus bantuin gue beli kemeja dan jas untuk keacara perusahaan papa gue"Ucap Vano yang membuat mood Rahel membaik.
"Iya iya gue bantuin lo tapi ketoko buku dulu ya temenin gue cari novel yang gue mau"Ucap Rahel tersenyum kepada Vano.
"Iya,tapi harus kabarin dulu keluarga lu takut dicari nanti lu "Ucap Vano yang mendapat anggukan dari Rahel."Dan lu bawa jaket atau apa ke buat lapisin baju lu"Ucap Vano sambil melirik sekilas ke rahel.
"Bawa kok jaket warna kuning"Jawab Rahel yang masih mengotak atik HP nya.

hampir 25 menit dijalan,merakapun sampai diparkiran.
"Turun dulu lu gue mau ganti baju gue dengan Hoodie gue"Ucap Vano dan rahel pun turun dan menunggu Vano dibelakang mobil Vano

Vano sudahh selasai mengganti bajunya  dia keluar dari mobil dengan menggunakan Hoodie berwarna Kuning hampir sama dengan warna jaket yang dipakai oleh Rahel bedanya warna ku ning jaketnya rahel lebih kalem atau tidak cerah sedangkan hoodie yang dipakai Vano berwarna cerah banget.
Mereka pun berjalan masuk kedalam mall,sebelum berjalan kearah toko buku, mereka berdua membeli minuman boba dan melanjutkan ketoko buku yang dimaksud rahel.
Setelah Rahel membeli novel yang dia mau meraka langsung ketoko baju yangg menjual baju kemeja dan jas untuk Vano.
"Van disini aja lengkap disini gue mau beli dress juga buat keacara"Ucap Rahel sambil menarik Vano masuk kedalam Toko yang dimaksud oleh Rahel.

Rahel juga mau keacara yang sama dengan Vano,karna Perussahaan papanya Vano bekerjasama ddengan perusahaan papanya Rahel dan yang lainnya.Tetapi Rahel sama dengan Vano yang males ikut keacara seperti itu.

Sameer wanted the promotion so badly that he thought about it day and night. An e-mail dropping into his inbox with the title: 'Financial Controller, India'. Congratulatory messages pouring in from Stonewell offices in London and Delhi. An office party at the Imperial, with free-flowing champagne and platters of stuffed mushrooms, galauti sliders, and duck samosas served by waiters dressed in the British-era uniforms of flowing turbans and cummerbunds. Sipping mint garnished lemonade on a Sunday afternoon on the balcony of the company penthouse in DLF Magnolia overlooking the golf course after playing a game with fellow corporate Moghuls. It was all as real to him as if it had already happened. 
He summoned up these images yet again, while stuck in traffic at Pragati Maidan, on his way home from the office. The driver behind him in the red Maruti Alto, despite being stuck in an obvious rush hour jam, honked away with fervor. 
What he wanted more than anything else was recognition. Acknowledgment of his loyal twelve years with Stonewell, the last seven as Assistant Financial Controller. Forty three, beginning to grey and still the Assistant Financial Controller. Everyone at the office told him he was the front runner in the race this time. But such decisions were difficult to predict. The name would be announced any day. 
There was a proliferation of sign boards to his left. 'Geeta Coaching Centre  BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, BE, B. Arch, B. Tech, BScIT, MBBS.' 'Sachdeva School.' 'Indian School.' 'Shiva Coaching Centre.' 'Saraswati School.' It was like they jostled with each other for attention. So Delhi. He smiled. Competitive. Everyone fighting for space, attention. A city of ten million souls wanting, wishing and waiting. 
At the Chirag Delhi crossing, ten-year-old Imran, a box of magazines and books balanced on his tiny body, threaded his way through the cars to him.
Sameer rolled his window down and. shivered in the cold January air. The traffic fumes burned his eyes. Delhi, in winter, smelled like burnt rubber. "Kaisa hai?"
"Very fine," Imran responded, in English.
Sameer smiled. So, Imran was trying his English on him. "How's school? You go every day?"
Imran nodded. Looking through his pile of magazines, he said, "Sir, no new 'Business Standard', or 'Women's Era'."
Wearing an oversized coat and a muffler that covered his head, Imran didn't seem bothered by the cold weather, the pungent air, or the cacophony of traffic around him. Under the flyover, beside the posters of Sanjeev Kapur selling Tata salt with a slightly constipated smile, a bunch of ragged children sat around a small fire of wooden planks stripped from discarded packing crates, warming themselves. "Sir, books? Chetan Bhagat, Amish Tripathi, Wolf Hall, Fifty Shades, Narcopolis. Good books, sir. Booker awards."
"You know I don't read those big books."
Imran flashed his white teeth in a charming smile. "I know."
"Sir, you drive car lying down?" Imran laughed, looking at his reclined seat. 
"Kya karoon. Too tall." 
Sakeena, Imran's mother, peered from behind Imran. She sold incense sticks on the crossing. "Sahib, one request."
"What now?"
"His shoes are all torn." She took off one of Imran's shoes to show him. "The other kids make fun of him at school."
It was tattered and had a gaping one-inch hole at the top. He reached for his wallet and handed over a five hundred rupee note to her as the traffic light turned green. "But this goes strictly for his shoes, and I want to see them tomorrow."
He smiled at Imran. "What color?"
"White," he said without a moment's hesitation, flashing his white teeth again. 
"White," Sameer pointed his finger at Sakeena as he drove away. 
He reached Panchsheel Enclave a little after eight. There was no one on the street or the park opposite their home. The theme song of 'Yeh Rishta kya Kehlata Hai' rang out from the house next door. Keshav's seventy-six-year-old mother liked her evening soaps at full volume.
He parked the car and climbed the stairs to their apartment on the first floor, the coat jacket flung on his arm. Pari, his nine-year-old, was sprawled on the living room sofa, watching TV. 
"Hi, Daddy."
"TV as usual. Homework?"
"All done, Daddy." 
"Where's Mom?"
"Don't know." She shrugged her boney shoulders. She hugged him standing up on the sofa, without taking her eyes off the TV. It felt nice to hold her soft body in his arms, but then he let her go back to Hanna Montana.
Kavita, his wife, was in the kitchen, an oil stain on her faded cotton top, helping out Ammaji, their long-time help. 
"Late?"
"Traffic."
Their conversations were increasingly in mono syllables. 
"Dinner?"
"Later."
"Water?"
"No."
See.
When they sat down for dinner, Sameer noticed the vacant fourth chair. 
Tomato paneer, black daal and rice lay steaming on the table. A dollop of butter melted slowly on the daal. The white paneer pieces glistened in the rich gravy. There was also a bowl of cucumber raita and the lidded box for rotis. 
"Where's Tania?" He asked Kavita. 
Kavita negotiated with Pari on the amount of daal Pari had to eat. "She has eaten already."
The magenta zircon in the nose ring of the Kathiawadi doll in the china cabinet glinted in the light from the bulb above. The case was full of little curios they had picked up over the years of travels in India. The Malhar musician with a mridang wearing a shiny sea green outfit, a pair of wrought iron deer from Bastar, a wooden Rajasthani miniature window  with ledges, pillars and brackets intricately carved on it, and the soapstone elephant from Agra. 
"Whatever happened to the rule of dinner at the table together?" he said, pushing back the sleeves of the pullover he wore over his kurta-pyjama, and scooping rice into his plate. 
"Too much," Pari protested at the quantity of food on her plate, "Isn't it too much, Dad?"
He winked at her and smiled. "Yes. How can a little girl eat so much?" .
Kavita looked at him. "You have to give Tania some space. She's growing up."
Tania had turned sixteen last month. Sweet sixteen. Very little sweet about her these days though. Loads of attitude.
"You lecture me on not spending quality time with the kids and now you're defending her. Ask her to come. Spend some time with the family."
No reaction. 
"Fine, I will fetch her myself." 
He pulled back his chair, walked across the hallway and knocked on the door to Tania's room. 
'Keep out. Danger Zone,' the sign on the door with a skull and two cross bones announced. Of late, it did seem like a danger zone. The marble floor felt frosty and he wished he had worn his slippers.
"Yes?" she shouted from inside. 
Justin Bieber glared at him from the bedside wall as he opened the door. Tania reclined on the quilted bedspread, one hand holding the phone to her ear, the other punching keys on the laptop on her legs. Social busy bee. She had inherited his looks. Tall, the family dimpled chin, the earnest expression. 
She looked at him. 
"Dinner. We're all waiting for you." He smiled. 
"I've eaten already, Dad." The phone was still on her ear. 
 Look at her.  Like she has been disturbed in the midst of final discussions on world peace."We always have dinner together. As a family," he persisted. 
She seemed annoyed, but sensed it wasn't going to be the thirty seconds conversation she had hoped for. Whispering into the phone, she put it away. Her laptop was going crazy with pings. "We don't always have it together. You eat alone in front of the TV when there's a cricket match on. We can't have a rule you enforce only when it suits you." 
"Come on. I miss you. I barely see you these days."
"I am busy, Dad. I have a test tomorrow. I was on phone with Shruti asking her some questions." 
Back at the dinner table, silence. Pari, who always had plenty to say, knew better than to start any conversation. Kavita was quiet too. The daal lacked salt and he reached for the fancy ceramic salt and pepper shakers they had bought from their visit to China. Black and white, yin and yang, embracing each other.  The salt wouldn't come out, as hard as he shook it.  He put it back down in frustration. 
It hadn't always been like this. Dinner used to be a fun occasion. The girls recounted stories of the day, vying for his attention. They raised hands for permission to go first. When Tania spoke, Pari had to wait for her turn. Kavita joined in the fun too  raising her hand to get a word in. What had gone wrong?
After dinner, he went to Pari's room to tuck her in. Pari lay under the covers, eyes wide open. Pinky, the pink panther soft toy, had her head right beside her on the pillow. She smiled as she saw him entering. When Pari smiled, she lit up the room. Her lips parted lightly, revealing the white of her crooked teeth, a half dimple forming on the right side of her face and the skin around her eyes crinkled. 
He sat down on the bed and bent to kiss her on the cheek. She smelt of sandalwood soap.er arms went around his neck. "Sleep here today, Daddy." 
The unoccupied side of her bed was littered with toys and books. 
He laughed, as he rose to break the knot of her soft arms. "Roz bolti hai even though you know I'm going to sleep in my room."
"No harm in trying." She beamed. 
He switched off the light of the room and tens of constantly moving stars appeared on the ceiling. Pari's nightlight. 
"Love you, Daddy!" she shouted as he closed the door to her room behind him. 
"Love you too." In his bedroom, he rubbed his feet together to get the dust off before climbing into the bed. Under the golden glow of the table lamp on her side, Kavita was reading a book with the cover picture of a pretty girl with long wet hair. The closet on Kavita's side was ajar and the rows of hangers with her clothes peeked from inside
He said to Kavita. "No news still on the new Financial Controller." 
Kavita put the book down. She considered him with the faraway look in her eyes she always had when she read, but then didn't say anything. She picked up the moisturizer and rubbed some on the back of her hands. The gold bangles on her wrists tinkled and the fragrance of roses filled the room. 
He bristled inside as he switched on the TV. Not even a word of understanding. The extra money the promotion would bring in would help the family. Kids' college, their weddings, his retirement. Why was she not interested? She had been his partner, his soul mate. They had comforted and cared for each other. Not any longer. 
He was also stressed about the business plan meeting scheduled for the following day. Kartik, his deputy, was supposed to review the proposal and prepare financial projections, but had botched up. He had told him at the last minute he hadn't been able to. The finance team would cut a sorry picture. Every little thing mattered these days. The controllership was at stake. 
He flipped through the TV channels and saw Kavita getting up with her pillow. An ultra-thin cushion she used because of her neck trouble. It was so slim he often wondered why she used one at all.
"What?" He addressed her image in the mirror.
"Headache. The TV isn't helping. I'll sleep in Pari's room."
Sure. Leave me alone when I need you the most. 
Why couldn't she ask him to switch off the TV? He would. He wanted to talk, to vent, and to be heard. Too much to ask from your wife of eighteen years? This wasn't the first time either. She slept in the girls' rooms often these days. Tania had an exam and didn't want to be alone. Pari needed to talk about a problem at school. What about him? It hadn't done their sex lives any great service either. 
There were pictures from their wedding on the wall to his left. He sported a moustache those days and was considerably thinner. He liked his present self better. Hair short cropped (a camouflage tactic to avoid attention to the thinning at the top), height and weight in sync. Kavita's hair was black, her skin lustrous, her eyes sparkling. Bhagat Singh is the name in the heart of every true Indian who really wants to contribute for their country and want to be a change they want see that is withstanding their country's growth. Nonetheless how small the problem is but it should be said why there the problem is? this was always the thought and ideas of bhagat singh. Many of his ideas can be used to acieve milestone of humanity but
he died at very tender age of 23 years...then how his ideas can be used who is as same as tender of any other country. To know the answer we have to go back to history of 20th century
lets get a brief history of the lion of nation
Bhagat Singh was born in lyallpur village also known as faisalabad (present day in pakistan) in september 1907. His father was Kishan Singh and Mother Vidyavati Kaur. His family was orthodox sikh family but their ideas was to free their motherland from the chains of britishers. they could keep quite but they have seen the problem in big respect that's why they fighted against it by giving their lives which was inhabited to the lion of the nation to bhagat singh

Bhagat Singh was an Indian socialist revolutionary whose two acts of dramatic violence against the British in India and execution at age 23 made him a folk hero of the Indian independence movement.In December 1928, Bhagat Singh and an associate, Shivaram Rajguru, fatally shot a 21-year-old British police officer, John Saunders, in Lahore, Punjab, in what is today Pakistan, mistaking Saunders, who was still on probation, for the British police superintendent, James Scott, whom they had intended to assassinate. They believed Scott was responsible for the death of a popular Indian nationalist leader Lala Lajpat Rai by having ordered a lathi charge in which Rai was injured and two weeks thereafter died of a heart attack. As Saunders exited a police station on a motorcycle, he was felled by a single bullet fired from across the street by Rajguru, a marksman. As he lay injured, he was then shot at close range several times by Singh, the postmortem report showing eight bullet wounds. Another associate of Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, shot dead an Indian police head constable, Channan Singh, who attempted to give chase to Singh and Rajguru as they fled.After having escaped, Singh and his associates used pseudonyms to publicly announce avenging Lajpat Rai's death, putting up prepared posters that they altered to show Saunders as their intended target. Singh was thereafter on the run for many months, and no convictions resulted at the time. Surfacing again in April 1929, he and another associate, Batukeshwar Dutt, set off two home-made bombs inside the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi. They showered leaflets from the gallery on the legislators below, shouted slogans, and then allowed the authorities to arrest them. The arrest, and the resulting publicity, brought to light Singh's complicity in the John Saunders case. Awaiting trial, Singh gained much public sympathy after he joined fellow defendant Jatin Das in a hunger strike, demanding better prison conditions for Indian prisoners, the strike ending in Das's death from starvation in September 1929. Singh was convicted and hanged in March 1931, aged 23.Bhagat Singh became a popular folk hero after his death. Jawaharlal Nehru wrote about him: "Bhagat Singh did not become popular because of his act of terrorism but because he seemed to vindicate, for the moment, the honour of Lala Lajpat Rai, and through him of the nation. He became a symbol; the act was forgotten, the symbol remained, and within a few months each town and village of the Punjab, and to a lesser extent in the rest of northern India, resounded with his name." In still later years, Singh, an atheist and socialist in life, won admirers in India from among a political spectrum that included both communists and right-wing Hindu nationalists. Although many of Singh's associates, as well as many Indian anti-colonial revolutionaries, were also involved in daring acts and were either executed or died violent deaths, few came to be lionised in popular art and literature to the same extent as Singh.Bhagat Singh was a Sandhu Jat, born in 1907 to Kishan Singh and Vidyavati at Chak No. 105 GB, Banga village, Jaranwala Tehsil in the Lyallpur district of the Punjab Province of British India, present day Pakistan. His birth coincided with the release of his father and two uncles, Ajit Singh and Swaran Singh, from jail. His family members were Hindus and Sikhs; some had been active in Indian Independence movements, others had served in Maharaja Ranjit Singh's army. His ancestral village was Khatkar Kalan, near the town of Banga, India in Nawanshahr district of the Punjab.His family was politically active. The Arya Samaj philosophy greatly influenced him throughout his life.In 1919, when he was 12 years old, Singh visited the site of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre hours after thousands of unarmed people gathered at a public meeting had been killed. When he was 14 years old, he was among those in his village who welcomed protesters against the killing of a large number of unarmed people at Gurudwara Nankana Sahib on 20 February 1921. Singh became disillusioned with Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence after he called off the non-co-operation movement. Gandhi's decision followed the violent murders of policemen by villagers who were reacting to the police killing three villagers in the 1922 Chauri Chaura incident. Singh joined the Young Revolutionary Movement and began to advocate for the violent overthrow of the British Government in India.In 1923, Singh joined the National College in Lahore, where he also participated in extra-curricular activities like the dramatics society. In 1923, he won an essay competition set by the Punjab Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, writing on the problems in the Punjab. and also contributed to low-priced pamphlets published by the Naujawan Bharat Sabha that excoriated the British. He also wrote for Kirti, the journal of the Kirti Kisan Party and briefly for the Ve… a letter to Lord Irwin, wherein they asked to be treated as prisoners of war and consequently to be executed by firing squad and not by hanging. Prannath Mehta, Singh's friend, visited him in the jail on 20 March, three days before his execution, with a draft letter for clemency, but he declined to sign it. The methods he used to convey his message, such as shooting Saunders, and throwing non-lethal bombs, stood in stark contrast to Gandhi's non-violent methodology, A portrait of Singh and Dutt also adorns the walls of the Parliament House.The place where Singh was cremated, at Hussainiwala on the banks of the Sutlej river, became Pakistani territory during the partition. On 17 January 1961, it was transferred to India in exchange for 12 villages near the Sulemanki Headworks. and has memorials of Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. During the 1971 India–Pakistan war, the memorial was damaged and the statues of the martyrs were removed by the Pakistani Army. They have not been returned but the memorial was rebuilt in 1973.The Shaheedi Mela is an event held annually on 23 March when people pay homage at the National Martyrs Memorial. The day is also observed across the Indian state of Punjab.The Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum opened on the 50th anniversary of his death at his ancestral village, Khatkar Kalan. Exhibits include Singh's ashes, the blood-soaked sand, and the blood-stained newspaper in which the ashes were wrapped. A page of the first Lahore Conspiracy Case's judgement in which Kartar Singh Sarabha was sentenced to death and on which Singh put some notes is also displayed,The Bhagat Singh Memorial was built in 2009 in Khatkar Kalan at a cost of .The Supreme Court of India established a museum to display landmarks in the history of India's judicial system, displaying records of some historic trials. The first exhibition that was organised was the Trial of Bhagat Singh, which opened on 28 September 2007, on the centenary celebrations of Singh's birth. He was voted the "Greatest Indian" in a poll by the Indian magazine India Today in 2008, ahead of Bose and Gandhi. During the centenary of his birth, a group of intellectuals set up an institution named Bhagat Singh Sansthan to commemorate him and his ideals. The Parliament of India paid tributes and observed silence as a mark of respect in memory of Singh on 23 March 2001 and 2005. In Pakistan, after a long-standing demand by activists from the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation of Pakistan, the Shadman Chowk square in Lahore, where he was hanged, was renamed as Bhagat Singh Chowk. This change was successfully challenged in a Pakistani court. On 6 September 2015, the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation filed a petition in the Lahore high court and again demanded the renaming of the Chowk to Bhagat Singh Chowk.Films and television ↵Several films have been made portraying the life and times of Singh. The first film based on his life was Shaheed-e-Azad Bhagat Singh in which Prem Abeed played the role of Singh followed by Shaheed Bhagat Singh, starring Shammi Kapoor as Bhagat Singh, Shaheed in which Manoj Kumar portrayed Bhagat Singh and Amar Shaheed Bhagat Singh in which Som Dutt portrays Singh. Three films about Singh were released in 2002 Shaheed-E-Azam, 23 March 1931: Shaheed and The Legend of Bhagat Singh in which Singh was portrayed by Sonu Sood, Bobby Deol and Ajay Devgn respectively. Bhagat Singh, a drama film directed by Anand Sagar and written/produced Ramanand Sagar was aired on DD National. It featured Deepak Dutta in the titular role.↵Siddharth played the role of Bhagat singh in the 2006 film Rang De Basanti, a film drawing parallels between revolutionaries of Bhagat Singh's era and modern Indian youth. Gurdas Mann played the role of Singh in Shaheed Udham Singh, a film based on life of Udham Singh. Karam Rajpal portrayed Bhagat Singh in Star Bharat's television series Chandrashekhar, which is based on life of Chandra Shekhar Azad.In 2008, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library and Act Now for Harmony and Democracy, a non-profit organisation, co-produced a 40-minute documentary on Bhagat Singh entitled Inqilab, directed by Gauhar Raza.↵Theatre ↵Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru have been the inspiration for a number of plays in India and Pakistan, that continue to attract crowds. Although, the patriotic Hindustani songs, "Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna" created by Bismil Azimabadi, and "Mera Rang De Basanti Chola" created by Ram Prasad Bismil, are largely associated with Singh and have been used in a number of related films.In 1968, a postage stamp was issued in India commemorating the 61st birth anniversary of Singh. A ₹5 coin commemorating him was released for circulation in 2012.
