It was Monday.
Gun-Ho went to work at the factory in Jiksan Town.
The secretary— Ms. Hee-Jeong Park brought a folder to Gun-Ho.
"What is this?"
"I made some newspaper clippings while you were not in the office."
"Newspaper clippings?"
"Yes, sir. It's about the building dedication ceremony of the factory in Asan City."
"Oh, It seemed that many newspapers talked about our building dedication ceremony."
Gun-Ho said while scanning through the newspaper clippings.
"The economic newspaper and all local newspapers placed articles about it."
"Can you show this to Director Dong-Chan Kim when he comes here?"
"Of course, sir. I will do that."
 
The general affairs director entered Gun-Ho's office.
"I've talked to the assistant managers with the accounting team and the general affairs team, and asked if they are interested in working for Dyeon Korea?"
"What did they say?"
"The accounting team's assistant manager is willing to be relocated to Dyeon Korea while the general affairs team's assistant manager seemed to be baffled when he heard my suggestion since he is living in Dujeong Town. Moreover, the accounting assistant manager can expect to be promoted as she moves to the newly opened joint venture while the general affairs assistant manager couldn't because he was already promoted not long ago. What do you think of the team leader in the general affairs team? He is competent and he wants to work in Asan City since he is living in a town nearby— Baebang Town. He has been in the same position for four years now, so I think it would be good for us to send him to Dyeon Korea as we promote him."
"Please bring me the employee records of the accounting assistant manager and the team leader of the general affairs team."
"Yes, sir."
The general affairs director brought the employee records of the two workers.
"Hmm."
Gun-Ho didn't find anything that could be a red flag by sending them to Dyeon Korea.
"Okay. Let's relocate them to Dyeon Korea and promote them with one position up."
"Yes, sir."
 
Once the general affairs director left the office, Gun-Ho made a call to President Jeong-Sook Shin in GH Media.
"Do you currently have a lot of translation work?"
"Not really. The translation work for all thirty books of world history cartoon has been completed."
"Mr. Lee, who is doing the interpreting work for us right now, didn't work on those books, right?"
"No. These are cartoon books which are easy to translate. I had several graduate students work with cartoons."
"I'm thinking of hiring Mr. Lee as a contractor to continue to do the interpreting work for Dyeon Korea. He seems to be a good fit for the job. I just want to make sure that you are okay with it since he is one of your translators with GH Media."
"Mr. Lee would love to do the job. Translation work with GH Media is not a stable job. We can't provide him a constant workload."
"If you happen to need a person who could talk with agencies in other countries for you, you can ask Secretary Yeon-Soo Oh in GH Building, Sinsa Town. I'm sure she has spare time to help you with the work since I haven't been to the office there for a while now."
"Understood, sir. If you could let her know in advance that she needs to work with me sometimes, that will be very helpful. I actually have several letters which I need to send to Amazon.com. They, of course, need to be translated into English."
"Okay, will do."
Gun-Ho then made a call to the secretary—Ms. Yeon-Soo Oh.
"It's me."
"Yes, sir."
"President Jeong-Sook Shin from GH Media will give you a call soon. I want you to help her with her work."
"Of course, sir."
 
In the afternoon, Gun-Ho headed to Dyeon Korea in Asan City.
Gun-Ho's office was already finished with high-end furniture and supplies. It looked more luxurious than the office in Jiksan Town.
"Sir, you are here."
Director Dong-Chan Kim brought a report to Gun-Ho's office.
"I need your approval on a cash advance request for the trip to Busan City."
"Did we already receive all the equipment to the Busan port?"
"Yes, I just received a call from the customs office. Also, the agent from the customs compliance service provider contacted me for it as well. I will go to Busan City with Mr. Adam Castler tomorrow. I'd also like to take Director Jong-Suk Park with me."
"Director Jong-Suk Park? You have two researchers who just joined you from GH Mobile. Why don't you take them with you instead of Director Park?"
"We will need to load the equipment and we might have to dismantle some of them, so we will need Director Park. The researchers are good at working in a research center. We need someone who has been handling machines in a production field."
"Okay. Do what you need to do."
Gun-Ho opened the file that Director Kim handed to him. There was a request form for the cash advance on the travel expenses."
"Oh, you are using the GH Mobile's request form."
"Yes, sir. We are currently using GH Mobile's forms for now. Once we have enough employees, we will change them to Dyeon Korea's forms."
"Are you carrying the business credit card with you?"
"Yes, sir. I have the company credit card with me. I am requesting for cash advance in case we need to use cash and that I wouldn't be able to withdraw cash from the credit card. It happened before."
 
Gun-Ho said while signing the request form,
"Two more workers from GH Mobile will join Dyeon Korea soon. They are the assistant manager from the accounting team and the team leader from the general affairs team."
"That's really good to hear it, sir. We need more workers as soon as possible. If they could join us tomorrow, that will be great."
"I will ask the general affairs director in GH Mobile if he could send them tomorrow."
"And about Director Yoon who has been in charge of the construction. Since the construction is completed, I think he can permanently take a position with Dyeon Korea rather than going back to GH Mobile in Jiksan Town. He can do management work here. Since I won't be around a lot in the office because of the nature of my sales work, I think we need an executive who can stay in the office and do a management job. He does have corresponding work experience. I think he will do great in managing accounting and general affairs. In addition, since he can speak English, Mr. Adam Castler will be happy to have him around."
"Hmm."
"I've been talking to Mr. Castler about our need to have someone who would do the management work, especially in accounting and general affairs. Since Mr. Castler had previously worked for another joint venture, he agreed to my concern."
"Hmm. Well, I will talk with President Jang-Hwan Song about it."
"I will be leaving for Busan tomorrow, sir. I will inform Director Park about the trip. I will tell him that you approved this trip to Busan."
"Oh, I was going to talk to you about our interpreter— Mr. Lee. What do you think about having him here as a contractor for now? And if we like him then we can convert his position to an employee."
"That sounds great. What position are you thinking about, sir?"

Until the goods are in their hands, keep two people on watch. Balthor makes his way to one of the largest buildings near the market, as he climbs the silver steps, he's filled with aw, every time he sees It's, what a magnificent sight as always. Six stories tall, hundreds of feet wide, housing dozens of private and public trading rooms. The guild takes a small cut of each transaction done in the city. No one dares to short the guild, not many merchants would risk losing their livelihoods and be denied access to every major branch and shipping routes. Without the guilds, nobles or foreign companies could have sway over how the markets are balanced. This system has been adopted by all major cities, balance is key and with balance comes reliability. Reliability in the guild and the cities currency, this has cut a lot of stress from the market, keeping inflation and deflation under tight control.

Balthor notices that the city is thriving but he can feel the stress in the air and on the people, the increased monster activity is really affecting everyone. I wonder how long this can go on for. Balthor walks up to one of the many counters lined up in a horseshoe pattern, allowing for dozens of receptions to take orders or request for material or travel. Well we do but it's not going to be cheap, let me just check the inventory list. Ah yes, we have these items in stock but at the current market value its 100 gold each.

This is greatly reduced as of late, it would seem someone has invented a way to write two books at the same time using some type of device. It's still early and the guild is looking into its viability, but prices have come down a bit after its spread around. Even if I wanted to, I couldn't go lower than 100G its really the best the guild can do.

Mr. Webster locked the shop door, flipped the closed sign and turned to Nettie, slipping the keys in his pocket. "Are you sure you won't come to dinner with us, dear? We'd love to have you."
"It's your anniversary, Uncle James. I'm not coming along as a third wheel. I'm going to unpack that new box of Agatha Christie books, and then curl up with a sandwich and my very own copy."
She waved them off, then tied an apron over her nice pink dress and went into the back store room. The box of Christies was right on top of the table near the door, so she didn't need to search. She used a pen knife to slit open the wrapping and started stacking books on the table. She'd already cleared off one of the new shelves out front for the grande dame of mystery's latest work. 
The hairs on her neck prickled and Nettie stopped, looking around. She didn't see or hear anything. After dragging in a breath, she figured it out. Something smelled off in here, but her nose was stuffy from crying all night so she couldn't place it.
A noise, something like a splash, came from the back corner - where the washroom and cleaning closet were. Unlike Eli's spacious house, there was no living space on the first floor of the Main Street storefront.
Nettie moved back. A bulb must have burned out because it was hanging dark from the ceiling when it should have been lit. Her sense of wrongness intensified, so she lifted the first possible weapon she saw - a short length of lumber left over from building the new shelves.
She came to the door of the closet just as it sprang open. Her father stood there, not dead at all but looking nearly so. Crazed and skeletally thin, he held a jug of kerosene in his hands.
Without thinking, Nettie swung the plank, knocking the can from the old man's grip. It clanked and tumbled out of sight.
"Bitch," he roared. "Whore. It won't matter. I've already poured enough around to burn the place to ashes. This last can was for the front."
"You're supposed to be dead." She backed up steadily, holding her plank out in front of her.
"And you were living in sin. What's the matter? Your boyfriend sick of getting the milk for free?" Al advanced, pushing boxes of kerosene-drenched books to the floor. Scattering things, she supposed, so they'd burn better.
"Who died in our house?" She tripped at the threshold of the shop window and nearly fell.
Her father shrugged. "Some drifter. Coshed him over the head with a rock, then cut off his hand so they won't know it isn't me." Al used the time her stumble cost her to light a match and throw it on the nearest pile of books. A second flew in the other direction. Both instantly shot up in flames. Nettie turned and made a run for the front room. Her key was upstairs in the apartment, but there was a large, metal cash register on the counter in the shop.
She made it to the counter, but before she could pick up the register, Al was on her. He grabbed her hair and dragged her back toward the flames.
Before Eli, she might have let this evil man get away with killing her. Even though Eli had rejected her, first he'd convinced her that she was a person worth fighting for. She grabbed the nearest bookshelf and hung on tightly, making Al stumble at the unexpected resistance. When he got close enough, she kicked him in the groin.
"Whore!" he released her hair to grab his crotch.
"That one's getting kind of old." She ran again for the front of the store as the room began to fill with smoke. She pounded on the glass with her fists, and when someone on the street turned to look, she yelled, "Fire!" 
The man nodded and ran toward the fire hall.
By then Al was on her again more furious than ever. He smashed her head into the glass, several times, stunning her into submission.
Outside, the fire bell began to ring.
Al, sensing perhaps that his own escape route was probably cut off, threw her to the ground. He did what she'd tried before, picking up the cash register, but it bounced off the thick pane of glass. When it struck the base of a bookshelf on the rebound, the shelf toppled over, pinning him beneath it.
Coughing, feeling the flames lick ever closer, Nettie crawled for the door. The firemen would be here any minute. The blaze wouldn't reach her that fast. She pulled her dress up over her chin, breathing through the silk.
Help would be here soon. All she had to do was breathe.
Eli was the biggest cad alive. Not only did he think that, it had been confirmed by his mother and sister as well as his housekeeper and the rest of his employees. He was back in his office the next day, mulling over and over his decision to break the engagement and he still convinced himself it was the right thing to do. His leg would never be one hundred percent. And the scars were hideous. Nettie deserved somebody whole, a man who could keep up with her boundless enthusiasm. Eli had even discovered two white hairs in his beard that morning. She wasn't for the likes of him. He did make a note to get Stan to drop off her sewing machine at the Websters. The other volunteers had pitched in and purchased a new cabinet as well as repairing all the damaged mechanisms. They'd planned to give it to Nettie as a wedding present.
When the fire bell rang, he cursed his inability to run the few blocks and hopped into his roadster. At least he could still drive. It was more than he'd hoped for at first. As he slowly climbed out at the firehouse, he saw that some of the men weren't even waiting for the truck, but instead, running down Main Street.
"Hurry up, Eli, it's the bookstore. " Stan yelled. "We need the pump truck."
"You drive it." Eli didn't even stop to grab a helmet, he just dropped his cane and ran, despite the sharp pains in his leg. Not Nettie. Please God, let Nettie be all right.

When did her shop turn from a bookstore to a debauched site of fawning ladies of her market street?

The shop was packed with ladies of various ages, shapes and sizes holding onto 'useless' tutorial and guide books regarding their own trade and waited in line as Yuuko's new employee rapidly cut receipts upon receipts before smiling and adding a 'favour' of 1% discount after earning a total of 10% on each book. And this was only the guide books... other magazines and mangas had an even better profit margin.

Speaking of Nik, Yuuko fell into a stunned state when she saw his current visage. An apron draped over his perfectly sculpted body— although she hadn't seen it, she could imagine the indents of muscles— while the sleeves of his shirt were folded up, revealing his forearms which constantly exposed the soft writhing of his muscles as he continued writing.

Even from such a distance, the sight was clear as a sun in the noon. His decently combed hair pulled back a little, giving him an even more enchanting appearance. Yuuko's throat went dry and suddenly, she didn't feel like accusing her friends of fawning over Nik.

The calculative side of her mind knew that Nik understood that he was a handsome lad and he was using his beauty to its extreme extent, even then, she didn't know how. After all, Yuuko knew a bit or two about getting fawned upon. 

While she was a bit embarrassed to admit it, Yuuko was still the most popular lady within the street aside from the younger ladies. Alas, she still couldn't use her own figure to lure in men to commit sales. She was a mother, too, before being a store owner.

It only took a few minutes and Nik had already sold more than 50 books right in front of her eyes.

After the crowd receded, Nik exhaled heavily before grinning and placing the calculator back in the drawer as he waved at Yuuko.

"Yuuko-san, you shouldn't lie, you know. How is this categorised as— less sale—?" Nik looked at the stunned Yuuko as he continued.

"The aunties here are so nice. You sure are popular."

He grinned while moving out from behind of the cash counter and allowed the dazed Yuuko to open the cash drawer before she sucked in a breath of cold air as she looked at the stacks of yen thrown into it. Even though the drawer was messy... a cash drawer was a special kind of existence when compared to other drawers and shelves.

The messier it is, the better.

"I must thank Megumi for bringing me such a natural salesman."

'And a hotty to the boot.' She added internally while Nik shrugged and sat on one of the stools before asking out.

But suddenly, a thought came to his mind and he scowled.

Meanwhile, Yuuko was simply counting the notes without paying attention to the surrounding while her face practically glowed. Not that Nik would judge her. He was happy, too. The feeling of scamming was too good, just a little less than the pleasure and bliss of carnal desires getting fulfilled.

Just like that, his day continued till noontime, when it was the time of lunch. Kaya had finally arrived as Nik stood up and placed the book he had been reading on the stool before walking up to her and softly embracing her. While Nik may not show more intimate actions in front of Yuuko, it also didn't mean that he would leave Kaya high and dry in front of others.

"Likewise, Yuuko-san. My son has told me a lot about your daughter. She must be a wonderful lady."

Kaya smiled softly and spoke in a clear voice while looking around at the store for a bit and then looking at Yuuko.

"We truly appreciate your help."

She stated finally as Yuuko tilted her head curiously.

"We?"

Nik also sat beside Kaya and replied.

"While Kaya-san visits me from time to time, I have been staying over at the Okita Apartments near the school with Kurumi and her family."

Nik replied for himself as Kaya nodded.

"Yes, Nik has been a wonderful boy."

Kaya spoke softly with her eyes narrowed while Nik could already feel her scent overflowing and creeping up his nose.

"Now that you speak of it, Megumi did inform me that you don't have any immediate guardians." Yuuko wondered out loud before she looked at Nik with a strange expression.

"Nik... do you have proper IDs of your stay?"

Nik frowned while Kaya sighed and Yuuko's expression turned even bizarre.
