One uninterrupted week later....

I have not seen or heard these two sentences in a whole week.
It was as if everyone disappeared.
I haven't even fully woken up yet and I'm playing video games already. 

I woke up around 7am today. 
It's currently 8:23 am and I'm talking to my party members online. 

We unsuccessfully raid Deathly Forest and get knocked down a level, when I get a phone call.

Who could be calling me this early in the morning? I answer the phone to find a unfamiliar voice on the other side.

I unwillingly message Ryan if he wanted to come.

The next day, Saïda wasn't feverish anymore and this permitted Asahd to enjoy her more and more.
Their honeymoon was a sweet one and Asahd made sure they exploited most of it.

The days passed and the lovers would visit the most beautiful sites of Cancun, engage in the hotel's fun activities, go shopping and make love nonstop. Life sure was sweet on their side.
Asahd spoiled his princess in every type of way. Saïda sure was lucky. And it was just a start. Asahd had a surprise already planned for her, back in Zagreh. The jealous ones would have no choice but to deal with their evident love.

Finally, the lovers were left with only two more days in Cancun. They decided to enjoy their private beach even more, for the time left.

Saïda's POV:

After having fun in the water and playing around the rocks, I left the water and went to Asahd who was lying on the mat and underneath the beach parasol.

"The water is so fresh." I said with a smile, coming to kneel by him. 

"I know right." he smiled at me, "You're so pretty."

"Aaaw, thank you." I laughed a little, blushing.

He smiled and got up on his side, his elbow holding him up.

"So," he started, "...already made a choice for our next destination?" he asked, kissing my thigh.

"Um, I don't even know where I wanna go, next." I giggled, scratching my head.

"Well better think quick, unless you want us staying here for one more week." 

"Hmm, I've always wanted to visit Italy." I said.

"Oh. That's not a bad idea. I would like to visit the place myself. Especially Pisa and Rome."

"So, that's where we'll go next?"

"Yes ma'am. I'll check the fight info online, tonight." 

"Alright. Thank you." I said with a smile.

"Don't thank me, honey. You deserve the best." he smiled at me and goosebumps covered my skin. I smiled back, lowering myself to peck him.

'I wonder if I would've been this happy with Noure. Not in reference to the wealth or whatsoever. The wealth has never been my priority. What I wonder, is if I would've been this in love, deep in my feelings and content, if I'd been with Noure instead.

The thought made me smile and I snapped out to find Asahd staring at me in amusement. I laughed.

"What?" I asked, amused.

"I'd lost you for a whole minute." he laughed, "Where were you?"

"Deep in my thoughts and thinking of how I actually made the right choice." I admitted shyly and he smiled, sitting up so he was facing me.

"It was way too evident that I was your Mr Right. You were just stubborn." he teased and I laughed. 

"Your seducing was without pity." 

"Without it you would've married the wrong person. And with time it would've forced me into marrying Hammar. Or worse, Zhou." he chuckled.

"Phew. Well thank you, then." I giggled and leaned in close. I kissed him deep, holding his face in my hands. He kissed me back.

'I haven't given him his "gift", yet. I'll do it once in Italy. I'll surprise him. This time I'll have to be the seductress.

Soon, the couple arrived the airport and Asahd was going to buy their tickets. He saw that there were two flights, one that was straight for Pisa and another that would stop at Rome before continuing to Paris.

"Should we go to Rome first or Pisa?" he asked Saïda.

"Pisa. I really want to visit it first."

"Okay then."

Asahd went and bought the tickets and returned.

"We'll have to wait an hour, babe. Our flight's delayed." he told Saïda, sitting with her.

"Uh oh. There's so much heat and we have to wait."

"It'll pass. Want a cold drink?"

"Yes, please."

"I'll be right back."

Asahd's POV:

I found a COLA machine. There was a guy in front of it, waiting for the cold drink to fill his second plastic cup. He already had a full cup in a hand. I waited patiently for my turn.

When it filled, to my surprise he turned abruptly, probably not knowing that there was someone behind him. He was surprised when I gasped as his drinks poured out. I dodged and luckily it didn't touch my shirt, but it wet my shoes.

"Oh!" I exclaimed, in surprise.

"Oh gawd! I'm so sorry, man." the guy gasped. "I didn't know there was someone behind me." he had an accent. He was definitely Italian. He was about my age or a year or two, older.

"It's fine." I shook my leg to get the liquid off.

"I'm so sorry. Hold on." he put his cups back on the machine and turned to me. He pulled a hankie out and gave it to me. He was actually nice for that. "Here."

"No it's fine." I smiled.

"I insist. You can keep it." he chuckled and I finally took it.

"Thanks." I was going to bend and wipe my shoes when I suddenly spotted the exact copy of the dude in front of me, approach from the other side. I froze, a little surprised. 
It had to be his twin.

He was on the phone as he approached us.

"Yeah, we're leaving Mexico right now, dad." 
He frowned at his apparent brother and took the phone away from his face.

"The fuck are you doing here chatting, Alejandro?? The flight for Rome leaves in five minutes." he stated.

"While getting the drinks, I spilled them on his shoes." the first one mused.

That was when the second turned and finally noticed me.

"Sorry about that." he said in a rather formal manner, like some wealthy businessman would. The clothes they had on confirmed that they were probably wealthy.

"It's fine. Thanks." 

"Alright." he then turned to his brother, "Let's go, Al. I don't wanna miss a flight a second time because of you, again."

"Alright, alright." the first laughed and grabbed the cups, giving his brother one. He then looked at me, "Sorry again, bro."

"No problem."

He smiled and walked away. His serious looking twin stayed back and stared at me. I almost flinched, yet I found it a little amusing.

"Nice shoes." he simply said.

"Thanks." I smiled a little, though he didn't smile back but simply nodded.

"Lorenzo!" the other called from a distance. "Weren't you in a rush??"

"Coming." he smirked a little at me which surprised me.
"Safe journey, if you're traveling." he added in a less dry and more friendly tone.

"Thanks."

"Sorry again for the shoes." he finally ended, and rushed to join his identical brother. 

'That one was a little weird. Creepy.'

I thought in amusement and bended to wipe my shoes. Then I got the drinks and went back to Saïda.

Halfway through the afternoon, the house got busy. It started with excited comings-and-goings up and down the stairs; a few moments later, I saw the chubby young female living down the hall open the gate to the backyard. A Rent-a-Wreck van backed in, and I retreated from the window. I sat down on my bed, and spent the next few minutes listening to the sound show staged in the stairwell: there was a female voice insisting 'no, this way', plus assorted bumps, thumps, and muffled curses. I'd say yes, didn't you want me to?

 What bothered me was his new, uncertain tone. The troops had come to expect a confident Kross leading them to swift victory, and his long face rippled the ranks with anxiety. I caught the first deserter - a really silly thought that Kross was, after all, a conman - and shot it without mercy. But others appeared, and had me writhing at one point. By the time that terrible hour was up, I was a bundle of nerves.

 Kross knocked me further off my balance right away.

"I haven't got Greenbottle's book," he said, the moment I entered and closed the door.
"Why?"
"Sharon had lent it to a friend, and the friend left town for a while. Two weeks in Cancun. What's worse, it seems she took it with her."
"She took Greenbottle's book to read on the beach? Come on. How do you know, anyway?"
"It wasn't in her apartment." He smiled as he said it, and I construed it as a knowing smile. I said:
"You broke into her apartment?"

"I didn't toss  it," he said impatiently. "I'd told Sharon I wanted to see the book, didn't I? We looked all over the flat together, but couldn't find it. You want to talk to Sharon to confirm it? I'll give you her number."
"No, I don't want to talk to her," I said. There was a longish silence.
"If you want to back out, I'll understand," he said eventually. "Seeing the book with your own eyes was part of the deal. So, do you want out? Just one condition: that you keep your mouth shut about the whole business."
"I have to think about it," I said. Kross looked at me and said:
"Fine. But make up your mind by tomorrow afternoon, all right? By three. I have to be at the airline office before four. I'll need your ticket if you're opting out."

I considered this for a little while. Then I said:
"Would you mind if I asked you a couple of things?"
"Not in the least. Fire away."
"How did you work out the loot's worth around a million? I mean it has to, if a third amounts to between two fifty and four hundred."
"I did a bit of research. Read up on a couple of guys that captained ships in Connacher's time. It was a risky occupation, but a very rewarding one. Each eventually made around a million in today's money. Seemed a reasonable assumption to make. I'm pretty sure what we'll find won't be less than over half a million."
"You found a couple of guys just like Connacher? How?"
Kross smiled and said:
"The Internet is a wonderful thing."

I felt a small shock, as if he'd discovered that I didn't trust him and had been double-checking on his story. I said, a little too quickly:

"I'm glad." He seemed to mean it. Why not? His ruse had worked.
"I'll see you tomorrow around two," I said.
"Great. You sure you don't want to ask me about anything else?" I hesitated. Our eyes met briefly, and I said:
"It can wait."

 I got back to my room, locked the door, and called Tad. He wasn't in. I called him ten minutes later. He was out. Out, out, out. It was close on midnight when he finally answered the phone.
"At last," I said.

 Tad informed me that he was a free man, free to come and go as he pleased. He went on to ask me what was up, then quickly answered the question himself. The Australian hotshot creative director was insisting on Kornik and Hansen, the sharpest creative team in town! He was offering remuneration in the six figures, company cars ('And I won't take anything less than a Lexus,' warned Tad), comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance, plus immunity from prosecution should we murder one of the market research people.
I said:
"Tad, please. Tad. Do you remember that you refused to go to the interview? Tad?"
"Separate suites when we have to travel," said Tad. "First class, naturally. Plus complimentary limousines, Dom Perignon champagne - none of this Moet Chandon bullshit, and I mean it - and of course grand-a-fuck whores and premium cocaine."

I finally twigged Tad was high on coke in addition to being drunk. He seemed to be doing well, since this was a Monday. I was pleased for Tad. I said:

"He's clear to fly." Dr. Wong says, overlooking Fire's charred body with great concern.

It's been 2 minutes since Team Six landed in Cancun International Airport. While en route, Aviator used the Blackhawk's onboard first aid kit to cover up Fire's most severely burned areas. The flight was taciturn. Team Six was also verified and no longer needed escorts. After landing, the team split from the President's granddaughters, who were immediately surrounded by Secret Service agents and led away by FBI Supervisory Special Agent Erika Diaz-Iglesias to a different hangar. Team Six was directed to a nearby hangar.

"How is he even still alive?" Romeo asks as he and Fred watch Team Six depart.

"Don't know but for sure he's not walking out of this mission the same." Fred answers pensively.

Team Six had put on a brave facade until the moment they reunited with Dr. Kabeer Wong in a private hangar occupied by the team's G-IV private jet. The team carry-in Fire on a stretcher and head straight for the jet. Dr. Wong meets them halfway then follows back to the jet while inspecting Fire. Dr. Wong's shock and concern for Fire override the team's stoic demeanor. 

"Dear Heavens." Dr. Wong says as he examines Fire with his stethoscope, "How long has he been in this condition?"

"We found him about 40 minutes ago." Quake answers.

"He's clear to fly." Dr. Wong says as he quickly puts away his stethoscope, "We must begin treatment within 2 hours."

"I'll spin up the engines." Aviator says as he heads to the jet's cockpit, "We'll be at Naval Station Key West base in under 45 mikes."

Owing to their mythical Top Secret status, Team Six could only be medically cared for by Dr. Wong barring extraordinary circumstances. Spectrum and Quake lift Fire's stretcher up the jet's stairs and into the aircraft. Wave and Shade follow close behind. Everyone finally stops at the onboard medical bay section at the back of the private jet. Fire is gently transferred from the stretcher to the bed.

"I will radio ahead to prep the base, doctor." Spectrum says as he heads to the cockpit.

"Pass me the burn pad bandages." Dr. Wong asks.

Quake retrieves the bandages from an overhead compartment and hands it off to Dr. Wong.

"Chloe, hook him up to the Vital Sign Monitor." Dr. Wong says as he goes about applying the bandages, "Shade, take some electrolytes." 

Wave AKA Chloe, does as she is told. She connects cables to Fire which shows his slow heart rate amongst other vitals on the monitor above the bed.

"We're cleared for immediate take-off." Aviator says over the PA, "Secure the cabin."

Quake pulls up the airplane's doors then heads to his seat and buckle's in. The others are already buckled up. The plane begins moving. Within seconds, they are out of the hangar and on the runway. 2 minutes later, Team Six is back in the air.

"What happened?" Dr. Wong finally asks as he steps out of the medical bay.

The cabin is silent save for the gentle hum of the twin engines.

"We found him inside an active incinerator." Kaori answers in abject shock while drinking from a pink bottle. The personality of Shade has swapped places since the mission has ended.

"It was all a trap to get to him." Quake answers.

"But how?" Dr. Wong asks.

"Don't know. Some nutter gassed us all with something but I feel fine." Wave says.

"All of you?" Dr. Wong asks. "Symptoms?" 

"The gas knocked us out but nothing else." Quake answers.

A loud disturbance interrupts Dr. Wong. Some kind of energy discharge from the Medical Bay where Fire lays. Dr. Wong quickly undoes his seatbelt but is bested by Wave who is up from her seat a second faster. Kaori follows, supported by Quake. Everyone stands in shock.

"What is going on back there?" Aviator asks over the PA. 

No one responds as everyone is too busy gawking at the scene in front of them. Around Fire is a ball of dancing bright red and orange. The monitoring machine is in a fritz. Suddenly, the ball expands in a flash. Wave, Kaori, and Quake all pass out upon contact. Spectrum, who was on his way to the Medical Bay, also collapses. Aviator, who is flying the plane, suddenly loses consciousness and inadvertently puts the plane in a nosedive. Only Dr. Wong remains awake as he watches everything happen in a flash.

"It is finally time." Dr. Wong says, his face a mix of melancholy and relief.

Welcome to the Legend of the Seven series #LOTSseries, my Guardians.

This is my first novel turned webnovel. I'm returning to this fictional world after a 6-year hiatus with a lot of personal growth and insight. Insights gained from being a lifetime reader.

I was the kid who read Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. I was the new adult who read I Shall Seal the Heavens and Ark. I've lost count of how many fictional worlds I've visited and lived through for I grew up on western novels but discovered eastern novels in my college years. This is my attempt to marry those two literary styles.

It's my hope that this journey becomes more than just a book. If you're reading this simply expecting an ego power trip then turn back. There'll be action but with a lot of metaphysics and discussion on life with its accompanying issues. I strive to ground and make this webnovel relatable with verisimilitude. 

This webnovel is about choice. Freewill and its consequences. I give my characters autonomy to do and be themselves which sometimes leads to me rewriting and replotting because of pleasant surprises from my characters. Even the character who dies within the chapter they are introduced can have a massive impact with several ripples. So, there'll be stories on love and loss, hope and despair, but most importantly, it'll be a story.

Release schedule: I will be focus unedited releases on Royalroad and Scribblehub. Edited releases everywhere will resume July 2nd.


I'm working on a project, codenamed "Guides' Sanctum", to make LOTSseries even more alive with special voice-overs, extra stories, behind the scene stuff, and so much more. But it can only come online when certain benchmarks are reached. The listed goals will help us get there.

Zhizhong Gu pulled out a training plan from the middle of the pile. He believed those training plans stacked in the middle were surely poorly written.
With this feeling, Zhizhong Gu started reading the training plan. This training plan was also well written, with no problems at all. It's not something to fool people. How could this be?! I pulled it randomly from the middle of the pile!"
Then, Feihong Liu came to the door of Zhizhong Gu's office. The door was not closed. Feihong Liu didn't knock, but stepped hard to make a big sound, as to notify Zhizhong Gu that he was coming. Meanwhile, he said, "Gu, I'm here!"
Zhizhong Gu raised his head and took a glance at Feihong Liu. He didn't greet Feihong Liu, but instead handed him the training plan directly.
"Take a look at this physical training plan," Zhizhong Gu said.
Feihong Liu didn't take himself as an outsider. He took a seat right opposite to Zhizhong Gu and took the training plan.
"Physical training plan? This athlete was from team two!" After a glance at the name of the athlete, Feihong Liu started reading.

Then, a voice was heard at the door. "Gu, time to get off work. Still not going? Your wife's going to call and urge you home soon." It was Bin Wang, who walked in directly.
"Good, you are here. We have one more hand to help. Come here! We can finish reading these with you." Zhizhong Gu shared some of his files with Bin Wang, and Feihong Liu followed suit.
"Bin Wang, these are for you!" Zhizhong Gu said, pointing at the chair in front of him, gesturing him to sit.
Bin Wang walked nearer, full of curiosity. "Those are physical training plans! Let me have a look. Well, it's well written. Are all these training plans? You two both have some in your hands. There must be about sixty or seventy of them?
"Seventy-eight, to be exact," Zhizhong Gu said.

Zhizhong Gu and Feihong Liu also finished reading their portions of training plans. They also looked like they had seen a ghost or something.
"Have you found any problems?" Zhizhong Gu asked.
"Bin Wang and Feihong Liu both shook their heads. Bin Wang said, "Let's switch now, and look again?"
"OK!" Feihong Liu agreed immediately.
They switched their training plans around among them, and then followed another twenty minutes of silence.
"Seventy-eight training plans, in one week! If I had not seen this for myself, I would not believe it, even if you beat me over the head with it, to my very death!" Binwang's voice broke the silence finally.
Feihong Liu raised his head and said, "Gu, you said on the phone that you would assign this Dai Li to team two, right? I'll call him and tell him this now."
Zhizhong Gu suddenly shuddered, "Who said that? He must stay in team one!"
"How can you go back on your own words?! What did you say on the phone just now? You said you would assign Dai Li to my team, so that I could teach him something. How can you change your mind in just one hour! You change your face more quickly than you turn the pages of a book!" Feihong Liu said, with more than a little anger.

Hyeonu read the contents of the quest and shook his head. Strangely, the quest had a high difficulty. This was despite it being a simple delivery quest.

"Why is the quest rating so high if it is just a delivery quest?"

Hyeonu couldn't hide his doubts as another message appeared in front of him.

-For Chief Raccoon to appear, you must be acknowledged by the boss monster of the Meadows, Fighter Dakan.

'Acknowledged by a boss monster?!! This dog-like quest!!!'

"Then the chief isn't a monster?"

Now Hyeonu could slightly understand the difficulty of the quest. Chief Raccoon wasn't a monster of this level. He was likely to be an NPC. He was also probably a very high-level NPC.

"The only certain thing is that this is a jackpot."

The quest Hyeonu received this time was clearly the biggest income compared to anything else he earned in the Black Forest. Most of the quests associated with high level NPCs gave good skills or items. The many rankers proved it. 

"By the way, how do I catch the fighter..."

Hyeonu's current level was too low to be acknowledged by Boss Dakan. It was only worth a try if he was at least level 30. Hyeonu was currently level 26.

Kale placed a tablet PC in front of Jamie. It was the video seen by Kale a few hours ago. Jamie watched Hyeonu's video without saying anything. Throughout the show, he made gestures like he was the main character of the video. Finally, the video was over.

Jamie was lost in the afterglow of Hyeonu's battle and finally opened his mouth. "He is a great friend. I think it is enough for him to become part of Nike. I'll be waiting for the good news, Mr Kale." 

"I hope so too, Boss." 

An AI calling itself Schema has assimilated earth into its system. As a consequence, everyone gained access to status screens, power-ups, and skills. This AI turned these concepts from fiction to fact. It's easy to become intoxicated with leveling up and becoming stronger. To some, it's too good to be true like living out a dream.

For Daniel, however, it's closer to a nightmare.

He's in a bit of a predicament. Cracks in our dimensional fabric have unleashed terrifying beasts from dark, abyssal places. Schema organizes these cracks into dungeons, giving the native species of the planet a chance to fight back. Daniel finds himself trapped in one of these dungeons.
