Romance is a very popular genre in Webnovels. The first thing that come to mind when we talk about romance are the CEO novels. Even though we don't want to admit it, they are the mainstream romance stories in the Webnovel website. 

So why do people love romance stories? I hope you find the answer while reading this chapter.

Elyon knew that "Romance" is not his strong point. He writes a fantasy story with romance, but he can't tell if the romance will be able to attract female readers. Out of curiosity, he asked some of his fellow authors the question "Why do you read romance stories?"

Here are their answers…

Kyosei: Because I am single. 

Reili: To fill my empty void of a love life.

Minrei: Because romance let you feel what is to be loved, plus it is universal you dont need to learn magic or cultivation in order to read.

Bajj: Due to lack of romance irl.

Murakami: I read because I enjoy the friction and conflict between the FL and ML. The insistence vs resistance is naisu.

Qin: I reads romance only for ideas and info.

VlassisBehrakis: I don't read romance novels.

[A/N: Oof I asked the wrong person.]

Elyon then  ̶a̶m̶b̶u̶s̶h̶e̶d̶ asked some readers about their opinion about romance novels.

Yin: I read romance novels because I want that kind of drama to happen to me in real life. But I know it will never happen haha.

A Certain Irresistible Meowlin: I wonder why? And I do read romance novels. Though the chance of me dropping them is also the highest out of all the genres. Every so often I come across a scene that makes me just want to squeal and fangirl.

Elyon decided to dig deeper and asked a few of his senior "romance authors" some questions about their reason for writing romance stories.

The first question is… Why did you choose to write Romance Stories?

Anjeeriku: I'm comfortable writing romance stories compared to other genres. I'm a helpless romantic person and I like novels that can invoke other people's feelings.

Bajj: First of all, I like reading romance story. It was the reason why I read books before and reading other genres comes after. All in all, due to these romance fiction books, I got the opportunity to read more great books with different genre.

MishaK: That's what I read, so write that too.

Zehell2218: Because as reader, I want to read romance novel so when I write, I write romance since my motto is I write what I want to read.

Ikazainudin: The easiest genre. Everyone can relate.

End_of_Era: It wasn't a full on Romance, it was slice of life with romance which I feel was necessary with progression of the characters.

The second question… When you were making your ML and FL, did you imagine yourself as the lead of your story at any given point in time?

Anjeeriku: I would be a liar if I said no. There were instances that I'd put myself in my FL's shoes. Whenever that happens, my writing feels more passionate and truthful that sometimes it was hard to know where my fl starts and where I end. 

Shen Yi, LMD's ML was based on a person I've lost, The One That Got Away so it was sometimes hard not to self-insert whenever there were scenes that need to invoke feelings from readers. 

Bajj: I believe that every character the author was making and breathing life into it, a part of him/her is added to its character. But me imagining of being the ML/FL, never. I'm too pure for that. Kek

MishaK: Yes I did but sometimes. Otherwise you can't infuse emotions in your characters. It is important to understand your characters.

Zehell2218: Yes, I imagine myself as the lead. Of course, I tweak it a bit, such as in age and appearance. But mostly, the characteristics is similar to me.

Ikazainudin: FL and ML character based on what I want to be irl. Yup. I imagine that will be my love story.

End_of_Era: Yes, my leads had some ocassional self insertion.

The third question… If you were to choose some other genre aside from romance, what would you pick?

Anjeeriku: Fantasy. I always look up to those authors who can write fantasy stories/novels well. I believe writing a fantasy novel is harder than writing romance.

Hello Guys! I hope you enjoyed this chapter of WWCG. Personally, I've read a few CEO novels myself. I also read some FL stories like A Slight Smile Is Devastating (Love O2O), Hidden Marriage, Doomed to be Cannon Fodder, Transmigrator meets Reincarnator, A Mistaken Marriage Match: A Generation of Military Counselor, There Is an Angel in That Church (short story), Eight Treasures Trousseau, Grabbing Your Hand, Dragging you Away, A Mistaken Marriage Match: Record of Washed Grievances…

Ai~ there's a few more that I won't add to the list because it will create a wall of text. Well anyways, the reason why I read these stories is to get an idea on "WHY" the ladies love to read them.

Let's just say that it's a unique way to see a world in the eye of a lady (if you are a man of course). When done properly, the execution of the story can capture the hearts of anyone, even male readers. I believe that no matter what gender you are, as long as you find the story interesting then it doesn't matter whether you are a guy or a gal no?

Perhaps, when I'm not too busy to write my stories, I'll once again pick a romance novel to read. Hopefully, I will find another hidden gem that will bring unexpected surprises to anyone who are lucky enough to find them.

Some authors in chat talked about a book's worth. 

Most agreed that its value depends on the readers' willingness to pay for a novel. And the most selling here in WN are romance and h e n t a i.

Honestly, it is true in a sense that most authors who don't write these two genres or have the general audience receive lesser income to none. However, there are also other genres that are popular.

What saddening is that a story which has no s** will be buried deep in the list of books.

One time, a person told me that he won't read books without s**. I think you understand what I mean.

Sad... 

Those good literary authors will just choose Amazon. I totally agree with that.

But, is that what really makes a book valuable? So, the authors will just resort to writing stories with s**  since most will welcome it.

I feel sad if it is.

I've been reading and watching epic and classic stories like Mary Poppins, The Twelve Kingdoms, Fushigi Yuugi, The Vision of Escaflowne, Star Wars, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and others. 

These are great books but I'm not sure if the new generation is still reading them.

Hoping they are.

So, what is the worth of a writer? Of a person's storyteller's heart and creativity?

Will it just be buried deep in isolation? Will it just be following the flow of readership and abandon its desire to produce good stories?

I disagree. We still love good stories. There are still more readers who love good reads. In fact, these type of stories are more engaging and imploring. Those epic stories won't be called epic if no one reads them anymore. They are classified as such because their worth is beyond trends.

They simply go against the flow and create a tsunami, leaving people awestruck.

That is the type of book I want to write. I prefer to be remembered as an author who writes good stories without compromising the principles I believe.

Don't get me wrong. There are still good books with a bit of those s** things out there that you can read. But they don't focus on those scenes but on the story itself.

I am a person who never follows trends. And I care less what people call me. I will rather be true to myself than to follow the crowd and lose my self-respect.

In my opinion, the worth of a story is not only on the business side but also on how much heart and effort the author gives to his/her books.

To authors: Let us enjoy writing good stories. Let us be proud of what we write for not everyone can be authors. And not all writers can finish a book. The truth, most books here are unfinished.

To readers: Support good books and give the authors that confidence to continue writing good stories. Without your support, the authors might give up. If no one read good stories, then there's no point on writing one. But I believe most readers still love those type of books.

"Huh! Is that right? That should make your fans happy!" Juho said candidly, and Sang Choi simply nodded. 

"But then, I became curious." 

"About?" Juho asked, sensing trouble. Unfortunately, it was a tad too late for him to get out of it. As a scream came from afar, Juho thought about suggesting to the romance writer that they get on of the rides.

"The love story of a genius," Sang said, looking at the young author. Upon realizing that he was being stared at, Juho looked away from the romance writer's uncomfortable gaze. 

"I have a keen interest in you, as well as your young, fresh love." 

"Young and fresh, huh." 

Juho couldn't remember the last time he had experienced that. As the young author dragged on, Sang asked, "Have you ever loved someone?" 

It was a question Juho wasn't quite used to hearing. However, his instincts had told him that the romance writer would ask that very question someday.

"Sure, I have."

"You have?" 

"Of course. I'm human, and I have primitive emotions like that too. Since I was born, I came to realize the love my parents have for me, along with friendship and patriotism." 

"I find your answer highly unsatisfying," Sang said, resting his chin on his hand. Yet, his eyes were still fierce. 

"What I'm talking about is an interaction with another person, outside of family. Instinctive and provocative. You know, the kind that gets a bad rep for being immature. Eros. Sexual love," he said, clarifying himself in order to prevent Juho from backing out. Then, he raised his hand as a gesture of his willingness to explain things in even greater detail if necessary. Love. It was a topic inseparable from literature. Then, seeing the mascot walking by, Juho answered, "Yes, I have experience with that as well." 

Just as he had said, Juho did experience such a love in the past, and he had even lived together with a woman at one point, with whom he was in a deeply physical and emotional relationship. As the young author felt the romance writer's piercing gaze on his cheek, Juho looked away briefly, regretting the answer he gave Sang. There wasn't much else to be said, even if Sang were to ask more questions.

"First love?" 

"Hm," Juho dragged on, but it wasn't because he was bashful or had something to hide about the woman. Besides, there weren't any interesting stories to tell either. His memory of her was simply hazy, and Juho had lost nearly all of the memories related to the woman he had had a relationship with. From her appearance to her voice, touch, things she liked and disliked, nothing was certain, and it had nothing to do with him coming back from the dead. It had just been natural to forget about her. They had parted ways, after all.

"So, does that mean you're not in a relationship at the moment?" Sang asked, but there wasn't much Juho could say, unfortunately, and the fact that he was at the theme park with a forty-odd-year-old romance writer was further proof of that. 

"We broke up a very long time ago," the young author said, and Sang scoffed at the last three words in his sentence. However, Juho brushed it off with a shrug. 

"Sounds like you don't love her all that much anymore, seeing how dry your tone is…"

"We parted ways. What else can I say?"

"Man, this is why people shouldn't be so quick to underestimate kids. He knows what love is." 

Juho's past love existed only as an abstract memory. His instincts were telling him that it was an experience that he most likely couldn't go through again. At the same time, there was an arrogance in his heart that was telling him that what he had experienced really was, in fact, love. Also, there also existed gratefulness toward the woman who had taught him love. 

"Was she a high school student?" 

Juho didn't remember seeing her in uniform. They both had to have met as adults. Juho tried to retrace his memory to remember where they had first met. 'Was it by the Han River? Maybe it was the beach. Or was it at the park? A subway station? Bah, I don't know anymore.' It was useless. The young writer couldn't remember anything about her, including how she had been dressed, or what kind of shoes she had been wearing. After staring at the air, Juho said, "I can't really remember."

"C'mon, now. You don't think I'll let you off the hook with an answer like that, do you?" 

"I'm serious."

"Well then, that presents a-whole-nother issue in and of itself. Aren't you a little young to be saying things like that? You're not even allowed to drink, yet."

"Tell me about it," Juho said in order to brush off the romance writer's relentless questions. "Well, I don't think it's fair to say anything about the matter without the consent of the other party, so I'm afraid I can't speak any further." 

At the young author's emphatic answer, Sang sighed and said, "All right. Fine. I won't ask about your past love. Then, how about this? Do you like anybody at the moment? You know, a potential new love."

"You sound like a dad talking to his teenage son that hit puberty." 

"Tell me," Sang said, although looking nothing like a father looking at his son. 

"Recently? Sure." 

"Who?"

"The people obsessed with fire. Before that, One, Two, Three, and Four. And before that, I was in love with a neighborhood dog," Juho said, remembering the dog barking in the distance whenever he visited Yun Seo at her house. It was rather adorable. However, Sang was looking quite displeased. 

"Right. I get it. You're an author too. What, you trying to show off what you learned from Mrs. Baek? Are you in love with the world, all of a sudden?" 

Juho chuckled quietly at Sang's sarcastic remark and changed the subject subtly. 

"Well, how about yourself, Mr. Choi? I'd love to get a professional opinion on the matter of love."

"Go look for it in bookstores." 

"Oh... C'mon, now. It's not the same."

"You're just too young for this. When you're old enough to have a drink with me, ask me again."

"So, when did you start treating yourself with so much respect?"

"From the moment I was born." 

When Sang answered in a heartbeat, a subtle smile appeared on Juho's face. He, too, had to have his share of embellishment. Otherwise, it wouldn't make sense to Juho that Sang would be capable of writing such elaborate love stories. 

After that, the young author thought of his other fellow authors and their portrayals of love. Seo Joong had written a version of it that suited his personality just right, and Dong Gil had done the same. When Juho brought up the two authors, the self-loving romance writer snickered, saying, "They both have a ways to go until they catch up to me." 

However, Seo Joong and Dong Gil's portrayal of love focused on life itself, which made it inherently different from Sang's. 

"Seo Joong's portrayal of love is… how should I put it? It's mostly familial love. It's immensely safe, and in terms of color, I'd say it's closer to yellow than pink."

"I think I get what you're saying. He focuses more on the aspects of trust and interdependence than the heart-throbbing side of things." 

As someone who had read Seo Joong's story, Juho was able to catch on to Sang immediately. Seo Joong was more likely to portray love as the lasting commitment of being by each other's side until the end rather than something more blatant, like jealousy. 

"As for Dong Gil, his love life is… Well, it's hard to watch." 

"He usually doesn't get past having a crush on someone, doe he? I've seen him drive a depressed character to the edge of the cliff after being rejected by a woman." 

"And his style just makes him look all the more pitiful, you know?"

"Love with a rigid ending tends to arouse pity," Juho said, seeing the vivid look of displeasure on Sang's face as he glanced over in his direction. "Your version of love, on the other hand, is very entertaining. No other author may be as elaborate as you when it comes to portraying one's process of falling in love, what happens to somebody in love, how love ruins lives and how people can save themselves from it." 

"Of course, there's no one! Only I'm capable of writing my novels," Sang said, going further rather than accepting Juho's compliment modestly. Then, after his emphatic answer, Sang pointed at the young author and asked, "What about you?"

"Me?"

"Yes, you. I've never read Yun Woo's portrayal of romance. Why haven't you written about it yet when you have the experience?"

"I have. I've written about familial love too… in 'Sound of Wailing.'"

"No, no. That's way too twisted for it to feel like love," Sang said emphatically and questioned the young author again. 

"No reason in particular. I just stay true to my instincts and write what I feel like writing." 

Sang narrowed his eyes at Juho's answer. "Well, you do have a darker personality than you let on. Maybe death suits you better than love," Sang said, making a valid point. 

Then, after some brief contemplation, Juho asked, "Should I try writing about love?"

"What? You mean at home?" 

"No, I mean for real." 

"Wait, are you telling me that you're thinking about publishing another piece!?" Sang asked, and as Juho nodded, the romance writer scanned the young author, up and down.

"... Remind me how long it's been since you published a novel." 

"You see, I have way too much time in my hands." 

"If authors wrote because they had too much time, then they wouldn't have to suffer so much. If I were to write at the pace you usually write, I'd be vomiting blood. Don't you ever get tired? How many pages do you write in a day?"

"I don't write a set amount, but on average… I'd say anywhere from fifteen to twenty pages." 

At Juho's answer, Sang groaned painfully, looking like he immediately regretted hearing what came out of Juho's mouth. 

"So, that would add up to about six hundred pages a month, more or less, which means you're essentially writing a full-length novel every three months. But you don't stop there, do you? You go out looking for things to write about immediately after you are done, don't you? If I were to hear what you just told me from another person, I wouldn't have believed them, but then you've actually done it… Man, that's just gross." 

"Why are you looking at me like that? There are plenty of authors who write a number of pages every day. I'm not even that diligent, which means there's nothing special about me in comparison to authors like that." 

Despite Juho's argument, the way Sang was looking at the young author didn't change. 

"Where do you find all those things to write about, and where do you get the stamina? Please, enlighten me." 

"You see, I'm a small eater. It doesn't take a lot of food for me to feel satisfied. Even this short conversation we're having at this moment could give me enough material with which to write a book." 

The truth was that Juho was merely catching up on the writing he had been putting off. There had been times when an assignment he had procrastinated on had proved to be of help in an unexpected way, and love had been the same way. Juho felt like he had been trying to write about her, all along. He had to have been. However, he had been putting it off because he had felt like the genuine desire had never come to him. Then, after putting off writing about her repeatedly, the memories of her eventually faded away. He must have wanted to write about forgotten love. Or perhaps, forgetting her was what it took for him to be able to write about her. In any case, what was important was that he was finally able to face the matter after wandering aimlessly for years on end. With that, after plugging her into an array of stories in his head, Juho came to the conclusion that he needed more material to work with.

"Give it here," Sang said, putting his hand out and staring intently at it. 

Juho asked, "Give you what?" 

"The trash. I'll go take it out." 

"It's fine. I can go."

"No, I can do it. I need to go to the restroom, anyway," Sang said, bunching the trash together. Then, with one hand in his pocket, the romance writer walked leisurely through the space filled with joy and happiness. If he had come to the theme park on his own, that was probably how he would've looked. If anything, Sang was playing the role of accentuating the space. Perhaps, that was why the love born out of his hands was loved by so many. After all, he loved himself more than anybody. Perhaps, that was how he was able to write about people who gave their hearts to others in a more original and accurate manner. At that moment...

"Pardon me," a voice said in another language. When Juho turned toward it, he saw a couple. The language he had just heard had been Japanese. Then, politely handing the young author their camera with both of their hands, one of them asked, "Please take a picture of us." 

The man had done so in inarticulate Korean, making a gesture as if to take a picture with a camera with both of his hands. Then, Juho rose from his seat.

"Sure, which button do I press?" 

"Oh, my! You speak Japanese! Are you Japanese?" 

"Oh, no. I know enough to get by." 

The man's hair was dyed in bright brown but the roots were still black. Around the wrist of the woman handing Juho the camera, was a colorful assortment of bracelets. 

"Are you two visiting?"

"Yes, we are," the Japanese couple answered, adding that they were frequent travelers.

"Whenever we visit a country, we always go to a theme park." 

Then, they would always take a picture afterward. It was clear that the couple had been dating for a long time from the way they interacted with each other. 

Upon seeing a mascot walking by, they brought it toward them and stood on either side of the mascot, who waved gladly and posed appropriately. Then, as explained by the woman, Juho pressed the big button on the camera.

"One more," Juho said, and the shutter sound followed after the couple's response. With that, after taking the pictures, the mascot waved once again and went on its way. As the couple approached him, Juho handed the camera over to them, and they, too, waved goodbye. 

That's when a voice said to him, "Your Japanese is impressive."

When the young author turned around, there was Sang Choi, looking unsurprised.

Yum Woo is the youngest author in history to enter the literature world. His debut work was a massive hit but this success was short lived for the unprepared.

In the morning, Asura woke up completely exhausted. He stood up from his bed, stretching his body while groaning in pain from his injuries. 

*sniff* *sniff* 

Faint fumes of sizzling bacon drifted from the kitchen to Asura's nose. He held his stomach, craving bacon, and said, "mmm...That smells good." and after washing his face and brushing his teeth, he went into the kitchen.

Asura looked at Jarvis, who was in a black suit with a white apron over him to keep clean. Asura then glanced at the food on a plate in Jarvis's hands, "moring....it looks delicious." to which Jarvis handed him the plate with bacon, eggs, and various fruits Asura likes. 

Jarvis smiled and bowed a little and said, "Good morning, young master...please enjoy" then he went back to doing the dishes. 

Asura nodded. "Thanks" Asura then sat on the floor against a wall eating. 

Jarvis turned his head and looked at Asura, confused. Before Javis could say anything, Asura said, "I wanted to talk about the company and my inner world....us; talking while im in the living room would be annoying, so imma sit here and eat while we talk. Did you get things prepared for the company?" handing his dirty plate to Jarvis.

Jarvis grabbed the plate putting it in the dishwasher, then nodded his head and said, "yes, it's all in the lab for you. We should focus on your inner world first, but everything for the companies ready, we have to launch products, and we can go into the inner world now." 

Asura stood up and smiled. "Let's GOO!"

Hi, It's Author-chan here. I want to apologize to those who have read the 4 chapters so far and really enjoyed the fanfic. It makes me really happy....over these couple of weeks, I just started writing!!....like I was only doing essays for school!!, and I, like a dumbass, released the first thing that came to my head, lol. So yea, this story has been written entirely from my head so far, which many authors do but a young one such as myself at my current "level," it's gotta turn into ass lol....and I don't wanna make asss!!!! So im going to step away from this story and work on something more manageable for my current level...Honesty for this story, I wanted character development with all Asura's wives and subordinates and to paint a fantastic image of Asura building a mighty army, and I can't do this yet. So ouuuuuu mystery hahaha!!..... Once Zhao Youyue gained a clear understanding of the ways to bow out from the manga, she felt more at ease in the world of the Dimensional Gate. If worse comes to the worst that she might have gotten bored of staying in the literary world, she can simply bow out by silently committing suicide. Alternatively she could spend money in the real world and have the author abruptly end the work. Some unscrupulous authors will surely be willing to do so.
Come to think of it, Zhao Youyue felt that her current life in the "Pure Romance" world seemed rather satisfying, allowing her to live the life of an elite scholar to her heart's content. However, immersing one's self into the manga world, could lead to awkwardness through the exaggerated behaviours and the tone of the characters speech content. This situation could usually be seen among the interactions between various characters. Strangely, every side character did not seem to find it out of place. Instead, they fit into the theme perfectly… Well, it seems like Zhao Youyue was "the only sober person around where everybody else is drunk".
Nevertheless, it did not matter. She was quite happy being the background board anyway. Her pressure of studying in the real world was remedied. It was her hard work in the world of Dimensional Gate that helped her in solving the junior high mathematics question during the previous pre-test when school reopened. Otherwise, she would have been embarrassed for sure.
Due to the fact that Zhao Youyue's cell phone was confiscated, she did not manage to tip this manga. Although later on the same day she spent 8,000 RMB to purchase the newly launched eighth-generation Fruit Phone, she started feeling heartache afterwards. There are still more than twenty days to go for this month. If she kept on wasting money like this, she might end up screwing up and becoming a dirt poor young lady. This is not good.

Even towards the very end of the manga, he will still be unable to decide on who his true love really is, let alone having sex. He simply is an utterly impotent and herbivorous [2] boy.
Zhao Youyue would rather spend her time reading harem mangas with typical scumbag heroes just like Itou Makoto, who slept with everyone and eventually getting caught cheated, chopped up and murdered. The violent and gory conclusion at the end was really gratifying…
She conceived a sudden daring idea – could she initiate herself to make trouble, and turn the hero of "Pure Romance", 'Yang Ming' into a scumbag hero who slept with everyone else? Causing him to be murdered by one of the harem members at the end, wouldn't that be great?
As the thought of this daring idea arisen, her heart that yearned to mess about became eager for action.
Oh no, she lost the mood to complete her homework and put down her black gel pen right at that moment. She then took out her newly bought eighth-generation Fruit Phone and searched over the internet whether a manga called "School Days" existed online. They were at a kaiseki restaurant and the food was all elegant and colorful. The subtle aroma of the dishes also wafted into the air that seduced their appetite. In no time, they were all digging in on their food and finished their trays. 
"Sorry, we seem like piglets to you right now. But we haven't enjoyed Japanese food in a while," Bajj apologized. 
Yanee and Tohru exchanged looks. "Er… Don't you live in Tokyo?"
Why haven't they eaten Japanese food when they lived in Japan?

"Why are you apologizing? Isn't it our choice? If we manage our time well we won't be eating that nasty stuff all the time." 
The authors tried to make light of the situation but both Yanee and Tohru knew it wasn't that easy. They already discussed the pressures coming from the publishing house, readers, and themselves— those added with poor diet and most certainly poor sleeping habits, it's no wonder why authors either got sick or had breakdowns. 
"Then I will tell your editors to take more good care of you," Tohru promised, making the authors giggle and blush. 
"It's alright Chief. You already helped us out enough by giving us time to rest," Bajj said. "And aren't you here today to help us out with our plots?"
"Well…"Tohru inclined his head as he glanced at Yanee. 
"Ah did you see what I see sis?" Rui whispered and Bajj nodded. 
"Yes, it's the 'darling do you have any suggestions' look," the latter answered as she took out a notebook and wrote something down. 
"No. I think it's the 'honey, help me, I don't know what to say' look, no?"Rui countered and more sounds of scribbling on paper ensued. 
Yanee and Tohru watched the two authors get lost in their own little world and she leaned sideward to her boss. 
"What are they doing?" she asked curiously. 
"I think they're brainstorming," he answered with an amused twist to his lips. 
Brainstorming… seriously? But as Yanee watched the authors jot things on their notebooks, she started to believe. Although she had experienced developmental editing before, she'd never really handled authors on a regular basis to learn so much about their working process. 
"You're going to be doing something like that too. Most times when you hit a wall, you have to go out with your notebook and jot everything that's interesting. It can help you develop a scene or two. That's already a huge help," Tohru told her softly so that it would only be audible to her. 
It was obvious that he didn't want to disturb the authors so he didn't make as much noise as possible. Yanee now understood why Tohru rented the private booth. It was for the authors to not be disturbed. 
"Hmmmnnn…" Yanee nodded. 
The two were known romance authors in the circle. It would pay to observe how they worked even if they just suddenly started working out of the blue and in the middle of a conversation as well. But inspiration came at random. Artists were weird creatures and writing was a form of art, ergo writers were weird. 
"Do you want dessert? Their matcha ice cream and coffee jelly are very nice here," Tohru asked and Yanee's eyes glittered as she looked at him as if he were a deity. 
But Yanee caught herself in time before a creepy smile crossed her face. Urgh… Sweet indulgence, sinful delight, she realized this man had already discovered her guilty pleasure. 
Desserts! 
"So which one do you want? Matcha ice cream or coffee jelly with vanilla ice cream?" he asked with a knowing smile as he leaned closer and whispered. "My honey is so understanding. I will reward you with any dessert you like," he added teasingly and she glared at him. 
Yanee could very well see the future where this potato would take her desserts hostage when they had trouble. 
"Ah, Chief, you asked the question wrongly!" someone complained and both Yanee and Tohru snapped out of their silent bantering. 
"Huh?"Yanee asked as she turned to the two authors who were huddled together looking at them with bright eyes. 
"Chief, the question should have been 'matcha ice cream, coffee jelly, or me," they said with a pout. 
Yanee was dumbfounded while Tohru seemed more amused. "Well, it's still early in the day and we're outside. What if she picked me?" he asked with a low, sexy drawl that made the authors squeal right before they furiously wrote in their notebooks. 
Yanee, on the other hand, was a little bit miffed. She pulled Tohru's arm as she glared at him. "What are you doing?"
Why was this potato still so shameless even with other people? Didn't he say he wouldn't mix personal concerns with work?
"Developmental editing," he answered plainly with a shrug. 
EH? 
"What do you mean developmental editing?" As far as Yanee knew, they hadn't even started talking about the authors' projects. How come this was developmental editing? 
Tohru totally looked innocent as pointed at the authors who were busy scribbling on their book. "They hit a wall. Now they're writing notes, aren't they?"
Well… If he put it like that then, yes. 
For new projects, the editor's job was to check the outline and the flow of the story before the author began writing. However, for ongoing projects, their job was to push the authors in the correct direction by giving them cues or suggestions most especially when they hit a wall. 
And these authors ran away since they not only hit a big wall, but the wall collapsed and crumbled on their heads resulting in panic attacks— at least they were supposed to be like that. 
But they both seemed fine and working normally… If they indeed had trouble before but we're okay now, the question that popped in her mind was HOW? 
She turned to Tohru who was watching the authors write on their notebook. He had on a look of approval on his face and Yanee caught up on what's happening.
Damn. The potato flirted with her out in the open for the authors. She should have known. They wrote romance after all. 
Yanee raised a brow at the potato who felt her gaze on him and he smiled apologetically as he placed a finger against his lips, and she decided to stay quiet. Yanee felt a headache was coming. Right at this moment, she had no idea which one of them was the silliest. 
Soon, the screen opened quietly and the servers placed four cups of desserts on their table, one for each person. Tohru quietly placed the cute bowls in front of the authors, then placed the remaining cups of matcha ice cream and coffee jelly in front of her. 
Huh? She could have two? Yanee felt happy but then she looked at the potato who was not eating but just staring at her. 
"You're not eating?" she asked. 
She felt guilty all of a sudden. But he had on an indulgent smile on his face as he shook his head. 
"I'm okay. You can have my share," he said softly. 
"Are you sure?" she asked as she tasted the matcha ice cream that stained the corner of her mouth without her realizing it. 
He reached out a hand and wiped the ice cream off with his thumb before licking it with a teasing smile. "You're the only sweet I like," he suddenly said making her totally red. 
WHAAAAAAAAAAT?
Yanee scrambled far away from Tohru with her heart beating so fast in her chest. "Y-Y-You…"
The flirty potato was lethal. Too lethal. 
In front of them, the two authors who had stopped writing to eat their own desserts continued to look at them with a dreamy smile of their faces. 
"Sis, this developmental editing thing that Chief told us yesterday is really amazing, no?" Rui commented. 
"Yeah, it's so great. I feel inspiration flowing nonstop. Do you think they'd help us out with the smut scenes too?" Bajj asked and the two of them giggled. 
"I don't think so. Chief said it's too early," Rui answered with a naughty twist on her lips. "But maybe we can win another meeting at night time?"
Imagining it, the two of them smiled dreamily again as they stared at the lovebirds in front.
"Sister, are we really eating ice cream?"Bajj asked and Rui shook her head. 
"What ice cream? We're eating dog food."
