Pan POV

My brother is a Professor of History in one of the best universities in the city, the East university. I am currently studying Psychology at a university in my hometown. I call him Nee, the Japanese word for brother, that's what I often hear from the animes I watched. Nee wanted me to shift to B.A. History.
If I take and graduate History, I will be the fourth in the family as my Papa, Dad and Nee were History graduates and all of them have Professor posts in the universities. Despite this trend in the family, it isn't in the blood, I would say, I insisted on taking Psychology next year. I am taking Psychology courses as a freshman this semester. I'll be in my second year and students can declare their majors in their second year in the university.
Nee didn't want to force me and no one in my family did. Nee said "You have choices! Go with it."  
He often asked me about the idea of transferring, to continue my studies at the university where he currently teaches. However, that never crossed my mind because for me I am all satisfied. I could subjectively say that my university is the best in town. It is just 15 minutes away from home and I have my roots in there. I studied Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior and Senior high in that university, so I planned to continue my loyalty by studying my Bachelor's and post-graduate studies in my alma mater.
On the same hand, my friends are the craziest. The best jerks yet the serious during mid-term exams. There are many things I don't want to let go. Too many things that I couldn't count them with my hands and feet.

Nee empathized; so he stopped persuading me. He also graduated from elementary to high school in the same university. He sometimes implicitly inserts it whenever we talk on the phone or whenever we go for dinner or fishing.

Characters


Dr. Frost: Our titular character himself, Dr frost, from a young age, has suffered damage to his Frontal Lobe, causing him to misunderstand emotion and come off as awkward. This makes Frost a stoic, highly intelligent man that comes off as rude and blunt to his colleagues. Throughout the series, though, he tries to understand people through his cases, implying more to his icy persona.


Seong-Ah Yoon: Dr. Frost's faithful assistant, she is naturally Frost's opposite. She is cherry, energetic, and always willing to help as she believes empathy and sympathy are the best portions of how to consult people properly. She is passionate about psychology and has often been Frost's best ally.


Overview


So the two things that can quickly go wrong in this type of story are pretty simple. One is saying a smart character is smart without proper cause, and two is making your psychological facts bullshit. Having these two factors can make your story a hamfisted mess of important topics that make you come off as if you know better. As I've stated before, I'm fine with the media tackling important political and social matters as long as their saying comes off as educated and multi-layer while keeping themselves in line with the show. Just talking or doing something political doesn't mean you are smart and relevant. That being said, I'm happy to report that Dr. Frost is not emblematic of this problem.


Dr. Frost, from chapter one, is portrayed very intelligently through prior build-up and context clues that fit the narrative perfectly. The series goes to great depths of deconstructing common misconceptions on psychology. Which is fitting given the author has a degree in psychology. Each case of the series creates resonant characters that serve more than just PSA's as we see Frost use elaborate but different methods to cure them. Superiority complexes, depression, lying, and insomnia are handled beautifully through lengthy arcs that devote time to them. This is a godsend to anyone interested in psychology and history in general.


And what's better is that through these cases, we can see Frost and his surrounding cast also use these cases to develop. Frost himself is a fully 3-dimensional character who does go through subtle arcs as the story revolves around him. The art is also simple but has beautiful colors that make characters and scenes have this stylistic noir feel with gorgeous colors. This is a poignant dramatic webtoon that I forgot how great it was. 


Epilogue 


Dr. Frost is a beautifully crafted webtoon that deserves more love. While it has its K drama, I think that the webtoon never got fully translated into English, which is utterly criminal. If it came out a year or two later on Webtoon, it probably would have a load more readers and get the love it deserves. But with Dr. Frost out of the way, let's turn our spotlights to a much newer webtoon that has been catching my attention.

Just a simple person is trying to shine a little light on the beautiful world of webtoon. With a splash of sarcasm, narration, and spitfire along the way.  And who knows I might have other segments just for the hell of it.

Does this mean he's attracted to me? The same way I am to him? Have my suspicions be right all along? 

Can he be? I mean, is he allowed to? Considering the fact that he'll be a priest soon. I shouldn't get my hopes up anyway. He's just my teacher 

"Ruby!" Jomar called but it was too late 

The ball hit me right on the nose 

"Owww" I cried out 

"It's probably plastic" Mary laughed 

"No it isn't, you fool" I shouted 

Coach blew his whistle in my direction 

"Watch your language!" He scolded 

"Sorry coach" I said 

Oh did I forget to mention that we were on the soccer field for P. E class? 

Yup. I'm thinking about my super-hot teacher in the middle of an important class. That's why the ball hit me. Pretty interesting, yeah? No. It was a horrible idea. Now my nose hurts. 

There were two team captains; Jomar and Mary. It wouldn't take a genius to know whose team I was on. Mary would never allow me on her team in a million years. I wouldn't even want to be on her team either. 

Mr Henderson stepped into the field and started talking to coach. My heart beat accelerated when I sighted him. 

Isn't it surreal? I was just thinking about him and here he is. I feel so self-conscious. He's totally gonna watch me embarrass myself. 

Coach turned away from him and blew his whistle. 

"Class is over" 

"Thank God" I breathed 

All students started departing from the field to the locker room. Annabelle patted me on the back 

"Nice work Ruby" she said "you should totally consider a career in soccer" 

Jomar laughed beside me. They high fived each other. 

"I was thinking the same thing" he teased 

I rolled my eyes. Hey! I tried my best. I don't even carry my plates to the kitchen when I'm done eating let alone know how to play football. Football was Rainer's best sport. 

I'm a princess. Princesses don't play sports. On a normal day I would never touch a soccer ball. 

"Bunch of fools" I mumbled 

I caught Mr Henderson staring at me. Coach was showing him something on a clipboard but he was smiling at me instead. 

Do I look horrible? Is that why he's staring? I doubt I do. The look on his face is friendly 

I smiled at him and waved. He waved back at me. I bit my lip and turned around into the school building. 

After I showered and changed in the locker room I went to my next class: Psychology. I sat next to Jomar in the middle of class. Annabelle was directly behind me. 

The teacher wasn't in so I took a pencil from my purse, a piece of paper and started sketching. 

Jomar looked over at my work. His face was full of astonishment 

"Wow" he said "you're pretty good" 

Of course I am. My brother and I used to do it all the time. My parents were barely home so we needed something to occupy our time resulting to me finding my talent. 

"Thanks" I told him 

Anabelle leaned in too to have a peak as well . 

"Wow. That is good" 

I was drawing a lonely princess locked up in a tall castle surrounded by a forest of trees and bushes. I was just finishing up when Mr Henderson entered class. 

Why is he here? We aren't having English. Maybe he's here to make an announcement or to address us on something. 

Immediately he entered the room, every girl apart from Annabelle and I composed themselves . 

"Thank God I'm gay" Annabelle muttered 

He stood on the podium with easy confidence. 

"Good morning class" 

"Good morning Mr Henderson" 

He looked so good in his fitted short sleeve tucked in with jeans. His muscles looked like they were threatening to pop out of his shirt. I couldn't help but see the noticeable bulge in his pants. Does he have an erection or is he that big? 

I'm not a religious person. I'm not sure I even believe in God but I'd do anything to go on my knees and worship his body even if it’s just for a night. 

The space in between my legs got hotter by the minute. I wonder how he is in bed. 

I bet he likes it rough like I do. Those tanned muscles aren't for nothing. 

"He's a soon to be priest, you whore!" My sub conscious screamed "It’s wrong for you to think of him this way" 

John cleared his throat. 

"Your psychology teacher: Mr Tim, isn't around" 

"Yes! A free period!" Jomar rejoiced "Thanks for passing the good news Mr H. We appreciate it a lot. You can leave now" 

The whole class burst into laughter. I slapped his arm playfully. Jomar is just so goofy. 

Mr Henderson didn't find this amusing in anyway. He cocked his eyebrow in irritation. 

"I'm substituting for him" he replied "until he comes back" 

All the boys groaned. The girls smiled. 

I'm not complaining and neither is any girl in the class. I wouldn't mind him teaching throughout the day. 

"Okay then" he wrote the topic on the board "today's topic is simple. let's just take a look at human psychology and behaviour. How the brain works to be precise" 

He turned around and faced us. He scanned through the class till his eyes landed on me. 

"Miss Adams" he called 

"Yes sir" 

"Can you define psychology in your own terms?" 

Mary snickered "you're wasting your time sir. She's a blockhead" 

She laughed 

"Out of my class now" Mr Henderson ordered 

Mary's mouth hung open in shock. Everyone started whispering. 

"He's never sent anyone out of class before" I hear a boy mutter 

"What?" She couldn't believe her ears 

"Now" 

He held the door open for her. She stood up, glared at me, packed her things and left. He slammed the door after her. 

"Told you he likes you" Annabelle whispered 

"I will not tolerate any form of disrespect to your fellow students. Discrimination is not allowed. We are all equal. Do you understand?" 

"Yes sir" 

"Ruby please stand up and answer the question in the best way you can" 

I stood up 

Everyone was watching me. Even those at the front turned back just so they could get a clearer view 

Cindy had an evil smirk which read out "I hope you fail" 

I took a deep breath and answered 

"Psychology is, in my terms of course, is the uh..um.. Oh my gosh" 

I've never felt this nervous before. Damn it I've never answered a question in class before in my entire life. Damn you Mr Henderson for putting me in the spotlight 

"Try" he encouraged 

Get yourself together Ruby. 

"Psychology is the science of the human behaviour, brain and mind. I like to define psychology as a nature of humans. Every human has a unique pattern so it’s up to us to find out what it is and decipher their meaning by their body language. It’s a social science that not only deals with the treatment and assessment of mental health but is also directed towards solving and understanding problems of the human activity. Thank you" 

There was silence. Oh no. I totally embarrassed myself, didn't I? 

I was so sure I had screwed up until someone clapped causing the rest of the class to applaud me as well. 

John smiled proudly 

"Well done Ruby" he said "you may sit down" 

"Thank you sir" 

I sat down comfortably in my chair as Mr Henderson carried on with the lecture. His teaching was effortless. The way his body moved so free when he spoke made me more interested in the topic. 

He would break it down until everyone understood the concept of what he was saying; not minding the time or the pain it cost him. 

Will he still teach when he becomes a priest? Or will he be posted somewhere else? 

My attraction to this man kept getting stronger by the minute and with the way he would glance at me often made me think he might feel the same way. 

Jomar tapped me then passed me a paper. I unfolded it to read the contents

Ariella remembered her parents arguing about the possible dangers to their happy family because of a case that her mother was dealing at that time. She became interested in the details of the case and snuck into her mother's office at midnight after making sure both of her parents were sleeping soundly. Her parents knew of her interests in books so they made sure to gift her a room filled with the furniture required for a mini library and also the freedom to fill the racks with the books she wished. What they never knew was that after the night she snuck into her mother's office, Ariella built a small cabinet in her 'library' that was completely filled with books on criminal psychology and copies of all the cases she read in her midnight trips to her mother's office.
The following few days of the argument, tension prevailed in her otherwise peaceful atmosphere. She knew it very well but chose to remain silent. She plotted all those tension-filled days to go to California and investigate the matter further than her mother, although hers would be illegal. She convinced her parents and went to California on the ruse of spending some time with herself before going back to college. They agreed just because they thought she must not be involved in the tension of their arguments. They wanted to find a way her mother could investigate without putting her family in danger. And find a way they did, one that came with a heavy price.

We always make decisions and choices in life, sometimes we tend to make the wrong ones, and we sometimes regret and feel bad about making the bad decision. But for me, it's ok if you make the wrong decision, in that way, you will know or explore what is the best choice or path you will make so that your wrong decision will lead you to the right one. It's very normal for us to make right and wrong decisions. It happens to us every day. Once you make the right one, you can/will know that this is the path that is made just for you.
I tell myself that "Is this the right path for me?" "Am I making the right decision?". I always ask myself about it because there's a 50/50 chance that I'm making the right and wrong decision. After all, I'm confused about my decision. I cannot tell if Industrial Engineering is the right course for me (when I still study Engineering), but I like Engineering because I love challenges because Engineering is hard. It's not hard if you study hard, but if you will ask me, I don't know what is the right course for me, like I don't have a liking to other courses, but I have interests in some courses like Psychology (the course I'm studying as of now). I'm the one who told my mom that I will shift to another course. From ABM (Accountancy, Business, and Management in SHS) to Engineering, because Accountancy is too hard for me and I decided to study Engineering because I know that my mom would be happy and I want to be like my mom, I want to manage industry, but my only problem is I failed one subject three times already (calculus), the moment my mom found out about it, she told me that if I failed again I would give up Engineering. I felt depressed. I searched for other courses and Psychology is the one that came up in my mind because I want to study human behavior and mental health because when I was in High School, I want to read a book all about Psychology when I saw a book about Psychology in the bookstore, my eyes would stick to that book. My friends also told me that Psychology fits me because I know how to find solutions to their problems, and I'm also a great motivator. I also want to give up Engineering because it's hard, and I don't have time to rest already because there are many requirements and all, but I motivated myself to strive harder because I want to pursue Engineering, and I don't want to shift and transfer to another school. 
 
When making the right decision/choice in life;
·         Don't overthink. 
·         Think with your head and what your heart desires are.
·         The brain and your heart must be balanced. 
·         Just be positive and confident in making decisions in life.
·         The fear of failure
It's ok to fail like what I said in the first paragraph;
·         Just be who you are
·         You know your weaknesses and strengths.
With your strengths and weaknesses, you can relate it to making choices in life. According to Graham Brown, "Life is about choices. Some we regret. Some were proud of it. Some will haunt us forever. The message: We are what we chose to be". According to John C. Maxwell, "Life is a matter of choices. And every choice you make makes you".

 In this book, it tackles about facing different stages of life. It's not mostly about my life but anyone can relate to what I wrote in the book.
