Elizabeth memulai persahabatannya dengan Tuan Wickham, seorang perwira polisi yang memiliki sejarah dengan Darcy.  Wickham mengklaim bahwa Darcy memperlakukannya dengan serius. 
Elizabeth segera menggunakan informasi ini sebagai alasan lain untuk membenci Darcy. Ironisnya, tetapi tanpa sepengetahuannya, Darcy menyadari dirinya secara bertahap tertarik pada Elizabeth.

Jane (20th) adalah seorang putri mahkota, putri tunggal dari seorang raja yang tidak memiliki seorang istri dari kerajaan bernama kerajaan Slebia yaitu kerajaan dipingir laut dengan kastil istana yang menjulang tinggi ditebing dan rakyat yang sangat makmur dan damai. Suatu hari ayah Jane memutuskan untuk menikahi pengasuhnya dan Jane yang sangat polos sangat senang dengan keputusan ayahnya untuk menikah lagi tapi semenjak ayahnya menikah kondisi kesehatannya perlahan memburuk hingga akhirnya meninggal dunia. Jane harus menjadi ratu tapi ia belum menikah san tidak siap dengan tanggung jawabnya menjaga kerajaannya. 

Jane meminta ibu tirinya untuk menggantikannya sementara sampai ia cukup  siap tapi kemudian setelah penobatan, sikap lembut Riana ibu tirinya berubah menjadi kasar. Jane dikurung dan disiksa hingga Riana meminta anaknya Ruben untuk membunuh Jane agar ia tidak mengganggu kedudukannya ditahta.

Ruben yang sejak lama memendam perasaan pada Jane meminta Jane untuk bersembunyi dan menjadi istrinya diam-diam tapi Jane menolak membuat amarah Ruben meledak dan memaksa Jane untuk memenuhi hasratnya tapi Jane berhasil kabur dengan sisa tenaganya ia melarikan diri.

Dengan sisa tenaga Jane berlari hingga ketepi tebing dan akhirnya jatuh kelaut.

Disisa kesadarannya yang mulsi memudar Jane, melihat seorang pria tampan engan ekor seperti ikan mendekat dan berenang memutarinya.

"Aku akan melakkukan apapun untukmu tapi selamatkanlah aku.." Jane hanya dapat berucap dalam hatinya sebelum ia kehilangan kesadarannya.

Dan saat Jane terbangun ia berada tepat ditempat tidurnya, ia kembali pada masalalu dan Pria yang memiliki ekor ikan itu telah berubah menjadi pria yang akan melamarnya..

Akankah Jane dapat menemukan jawaban dari kebingungannya dan menemukan cintanya yang sejati?

Sometimes life is not what you expect it to be. Kids grow up thinking it is easy to live in this world, but once they grow up, they wish they would be young again.

Some people grow up expecting to live life the way they want to, but they end up living life the way they are supposed to. Day by day, not realizing how time passes by with life slipping away. 

Did you ever think of the phrase "Why can't this be me?" I'm sure you did. Everyone does. But because of what surrounds you, you can't always do what you want.

I am one of those people who asks 
this question every single day. 

I look up to Jane Austen, Walt Disney, J.K.Rowling, Nicholas Sparks and all of those who achieved amazing things in life.

My name is Edeline, I know it sounds so old fashioned, but i love it.

My mother used to love Jane Austen and she's the one who made me fall in love with her books.

She loved old fashioned stuff and that's where my name came from.

When my parents got married, my mother re-decorated her room just to make her writing desk set in front of the window. 

She kept all of her Jane Austen books on that desk.
She always told me if anything happened to her, I would keep the books. 
I never understood her love for the books, but when I grew up reading them, I knew.

Jane's life was not easy. Everyone around her wanted her to marry the man her parents told her to marry, and Jane always wanted to be an independent woman, and she achieved that by writing books.

My mother's life was similar to that.
My grandparents made her marry my father, while she was in love with another man.

Another man that never stopped loving her, but had to let her go.

They always say, "if you love them, let them go", I've always had curiosity of how he looked like, but my mom burned the pictures because they held her back, she said.

I could never tell if what's between mom and dad is true love or not. Maybe they just have to love each other. I guess that's how marriage works?!!

Everytime I asked my dad, he would say, "your mother was young and she did not know what's best for her".

My mom decided to leave to North Carolina to sell my grandparents house. I didn't know why. It was a beautiful house that had a huge garden and a small lake out front.

My dad didn't want her to go by herself, because he was so overprotective. 
I hate that about him...

But she was stubborn and decided to leave anyway.

She left and never came back...

Growing up with a nerve recking of a father and a dead mother isn't pleasant. 
Edeline tries to escape her prison by entering the world of her past through a secret journal & the world of solving crimes.

The Journal will open up doors she didn't even know they existed.

As I sat down on my Literature Class, my all eyes and ears ate focused infront. Lecturing about a novel entitled 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen. All must say, she is very talented, isn't she. A masterpiece I guess.

"so class, Pride and Prejudice is set primarily in the county of Hertfordshire, about 50 miles outside of London. The story centers on the the Bennet family, particularly Elizabeth. The novel opens at Longbourn, the Bennet family's estate. Mr. and Mrs. Bennet have five children: Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia. The family engages in a conversation about Mr. Bingley, "a single man of large fortune" who will be renting the nearby estate of Netherfield Park. Mrs. Bennet sees Mr. Bingley as a potential suitor for one of her daughters. The Bennets first meet Mr. Bingley and his companions at the Meryton Ball. The townspeople conclude that Mr. Bingley is perfectly amiable and agreeable. Meanwhile, Mr. Bingley takes an immediate liking to Jane Bennet. Mr. Bingley's friend Mr. Darcy, however, snubs Elizabeth. The community decides that Darcy is proud and disagreeable because of his reserve and his refusal to dance. Jane finds Bingley's sisters - Caroline and Mrs. Hurst - to be amiable, but Elizabeth sees them as arrogant."

My classmates are very focused infront, because like me, they are interested about the novel. Literature course, is such a suitable for me. I son't know but this one is so very refreshing. But my bubble imagination popped when my professor call me. 

" So, Ms. El Henry, please give is some of your reactions about this novel of Jane Austen". 

As I stood up, all of my classmates focused on me, waitung for my reaction about the novel. 

"Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is such a very impression and wonderful masterpiece and timeless. Like Darcy comes to love Elizabeth sincerely by the end of the novel therefore because she is one of the only women to stand up to him and to teach him a lesson that leads to true development in his character. This builds on his earlier favourable impressions of Elizabeth to form a solid, lasting regard and love towards her."

" So you're sating effort is one the mixture of the lasting regard and love to the people like the characters situation in the Novel? " My professor ask. 

" Yes, Prof. "I agreed

" Why can you say? Support your side" 

"Lasting love has to be built on mutual regard and respect. It is about seeing the other person or other people. I am very interested in relationships and, when I watch couples,observing people sometimes in their simple eye contacts will saw the effortless love that they have. the ideal state of romantic love and without a whole lot of rational thoughts you typically attempt to secure the object of your passion by putting their wants and needs ahead of your own. It's as though you're saying to yourself: "So I can make you mine, I'll make fulfilling your desires even more important than my own." It called a selfless love. You do all of your best to fulfill the love for your partner or to other people." I feel the intensity amd more focused on my classmates because of my words. Same as my professor that nodding while I'm saying all I want to say. As I continue what I'm saying, I saw Andrei outside of our classroom but it isn't time yet. He's eyes widened and all eyes and ears on me too. I continue speaking. 

"And whether or not you're aware of it, the "deal" you're making to maximize the odds that the one who's endeared themselves to you will return this endearment involves a considerable amount of manipulation. That is, your efforts could hardly be described as disinterested. As generous in spirit as your "giving" relational stance might appear, it yet includes a crucial contingency clause. Hopeful about enamoring yourself to your beloved, you're essentially proposing a this-for-that, give-to-get, exchange. So even though to an outside observer your behavior might seem selfless or self-sacrificing, it's actually an intuitive, and quite clever, way of "captivating" someone whose value you're assessing as, well, invaluable. That's all Ma'am, Thank you" As I finished my recitation, my classmates clap their hands and gave me a thumbs up because, I don't know, jabe a point? "

" That's very impressive Ms. El Henry, but I have a last question. "my professor said. 

"What is it Ma'am?"

"Are you inlove?" 

My classmates tease me because of it and blush at the same time.

"I think, it's yes" after I answer that, my eyes flew in Andrei, waiting outside. As he saw me eyeing him, he smiled back at me. 

After that our class dismissed but my classmate started to tease me and curious about who's the lucky guy.

Nikkola El Henry is a Business Administration student who was a bully victim in her past school years. It’s because she is always been quiet and anti-social kind of person. But the truth is, she is a sweet little brat that his only one best friend knew, Andrei Del Fierro. They're always been attached only the two of us and they are okay on it, to be satisfied as be a best friend who will be by their side to be partner in crime and a guide to each other. But the truth is, Nikkola El Henrey slowly falling inlove in Andrei. 

But one time Nikkola meet her transferee classmate, Lucas. She knew that nothing's gonna happen if Nikkola tell to Andrei about her feelings so she grab the opportunity and give her attention to Lucas. 

But the time is out and the accident came. 

"Now that the breaking dawn is now infront of me, in exactly where we started are journey, may you remind my heart that you'd loved me once. Even it's only one time, I must say... I love you as you can imagined" - Nikola El Henry

But the time is out and the accident came.

It was nearly 4 PM by the time they made it back to Aubrey's apartment and started watching From Prada to Nada, a modern adaptation of Sense and Sensibility that was an old favorite of theirs. Diana was in the kitchen making the popcorn while the rest of them settled on the sectional couch to start watching without her. 
Troy would be getting off from work soon…should Eden text him? He had said to text him often. She didn't want to be annoying but he had said she wouldn't be a bother. 
It had felt weird not seeing him today even though she was spending time with people she liked. It couldn't hurt. If he didn't respond so be it. 
'Just finished dress shopping with Aubrey. It only took three stores to find the one she wanted' she sent before sticking her phone back in her pocket and focusing on the movie as best she could considering how many times she had watched it. 
Jennifer and Aubrey were already at their usual commentary despite it being less than five minutes in and Eden smiled to herself. Some things never changed.

Jonah had been what Troy liked to call 'a total space case' ever since he got home from work yesterday and delivered Eden's message and candy. He was so out of it that he barely remembered how to do basic tasks. At one point he nearly put a banana peel in the microwave instead of the garbage can before realizing his mistake. 
She was glad she knew him. Their conversations meant something to her. She wanted to stay in touch. 
On top of that she gave him candy in return for the ones he gave her on Valentine's Day. That had to mean something, right? Valentine's Day was the most significant day of the year in terms of romance. 
Jonah was also willing to bet that Troy was not at all subtle about trying to get her to text him once 'they' parted ways and had probably done something embarrassing and out of character for him-as-Troy. That didn't help his nerves. 
He was glued to his phone all day but didn't get a single message aside from an appointment reminder for his dermatologist's office on Monday. He had nearly forgotten about that. 
They liked checking in on him once or twice a year even after he stopped growing to see if anything could be done about reducing the appearance of his scars now that he was an adult. Thus far that had been pretty useless. He had lost hope they would ever be able to do anything for him at this point but went to the appointments anyway because they were covered by his insurance. 
His phone buzzed again at 4:02 PM and Jonah was nearly certain it was something unimportant again but pounced on it anyway. It was Eden. She had been waiting until 'he' got off work to text him. 
Jonah was both impressed by consideration and hit with a twinge of guilt about his lies. Even so, he opened the message eagerly. 'Just finished dress shopping with Aubrey. It only took three stores to find the one she wanted'
Were women really that picky about dresses? The only one he was close to was Aunt Mel and she wasn't like that. She only bought clothes if they were on sale. 
'Only?' he replied. 
Eden answered immediately, which probably meant her phone was on her. 'Considering she set up appointments at four places, yes. Her sister and I were both so ready to leave but at least everyone else there likes shopping so they were into it'
'How many people were there?'
'Nine. All family members or bridesmaids. I'm an unofficial member of the family so I'm now back at her place watching movies with her mom and sister because they drove up for the weekend'
'What movies?' 
Jonah felt stupid for asking so many questions in a row but he didn't have anything more intelligent to say. He had never chatted with a woman about what they do when they get together before aside from Eden's brief mention of getting a manicure with her best friend last week. 
'Not the kind we usually discuss; sorry to disappoint you. We're having a Jane Austen marathon' Eden tacked on an embarrassed emoji at the end. 
He wasn't sure what there was to be embarrassed about. Aunt Mel liked those too. Every time she watched them she lamented her lack of both sisters and daughters. Apparently one of her friends in college had introduced her to Jane Austen because no one else ever had. 
Troy wasn't really the 'girlfriend' type because he thought they were too high maintenance. On the rare occasions he did date someone seriously his mom got so excited and invited her over constantly wanting to do girly things. 
She could be a bit overbearing but they usually didn't mind it. What they did mind was running into Jonah in the hallway or kitchen. 
He normally tried to stay away from Troy's girlfriends in the past because he always made them uncomfortable. And vice versa. He hated being stared at. But seeing how they lived in the same house it was impossible to avoid unless they only met up outside. 
Troy's last girlfriend had been before the Jonah bought this house and they moved here. Since then he had been focusing on his music and only went on casual dates but whenever he inevitably got another one they would have to deal with the problem all over again. 
He hated thinking that he was part of the reason none of his cousin's relationships ever worked out but he knew the truth. He had overheard one of them say something to him about Jonah in high school and he dumped her immediately. 
Troy still didn't know he had witnessed that conversation by accident on his way back from the bathroom. He was overprotective enough as it was; he didn't need to know. 
But since it happened once and his girlfriends continued to be uncomfortable around Jonah…he couldn't help but wonder if that factored in every time. He knew it wasn't the only reason though. 
Troy wasn't the type to be held down by anything. He was a free spirit; it would take quite a woman to convince him to settle down. He had recently turned twenty-eight and was still chasing after his dreams of being a musician instead of looking for a more stable career like his parents begged him to. 
They supported his music to an extent but they were worried about him paying his bills. Especially since his bills were largely taken care of by Jonah. They didn't think it was fair to him.

Eden McBride has terrible luck with both men and job hunting so she is stuck working in a kids' pizza restaurant after finishing college. The last thing she expected was that her perfect match would be her coworker in the dog mascot costume. 
Troy is kind, funny, and has a great taste in books and movies but there is one problem...she has never seen his face. 
Eden doesn't realize there is a second, bigger problem. Troy has another secret involving the rather compelling reason to keep his face hidden. Can love blossom under the weight of those secrets?

J felt all her blood crept up to her face. She looked at the dishes that Madam Kelly prepared. It consists mainly of leafy vegetables, legumes, fish, meat and eggs. These foods boost fertility, Madam Kelly sure knows her thing. J thought.

After they had their lunch, Madam Kelly and Chairman John went up to their bedroom to take an afternoon nap. J was left in the family room.

 After a couple of minutes, Jacob walked in the family room with a couple of books in his hands. 

"I noticed that you liked reading classic novels. I got a couple here from the library, but I am not sure if you have read any of this. You should take a look. If you have already read them, I'll find another one for you." Jacob said with a smile standing in front of her.

J was sitting on the sofa so she has to tilt her head upwards to look at Jacob. Her face becomes gentle realizing how Jacob take his time to notice her habit of reading and what kind of books she prefers to read. She reached for the books before saying 'Thank you' to Jacob.

Jacob sits beside her and grab for the remote control of the flat-screen TV and turned it on. Madam Kelly already insisted on them to stay overnight and they complied.  Without anything to do this afternoon, Jacob decided to watch a movie while he searched for books for J to read.

J looked at the books that Jacob brought her. Jacob was right, they were all classic novels from Jane Austen, Emily Bronte, Alexander Dumas, Leo Tolstoy, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, and Bram Stoker. She has already read all these books that Jacob brought her. But to avoid disturbing Jacob from watching, she didn't tell him. Instead, she chose Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, which she has read a couple of times.  Jane Austen is her favorite author and she has a collection of all of her six books. Among them, Pride and Prejudice is her favorite. It is a romantic novel about two lovers whom before had their happy ending have to conquer their pride and prejudices against each other.

J had even memorized the authors opening line, 'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.' Thou she finds it ironic, as these days those man with a good fortune would rather stay single to enjoy their liberty. Just like how Jacob and J were before they met.

After half an hour reading with her back leaning on the backrest of the sofa and her feet on her front closed to each other, J felt a little bit stiff so she stretched her back and neck. 

"If you're feeling a little stiff you can change your position. How about you raise your feet on the sofa?" Jacob said with a worried look.

When he receives no response, Jacob got off his seat and kneel in front of J.

"What are you doing?" J asked with a surprised look.

Jacob didn't answer her instead, he took off her slippers and raised her feet on the sofa with her knees pointing on one side. Then he returned to sit beside her.

Due to her position, her body is now leaning to Jacob's body and her knees were now touching Jacob's hips. J gazed at him. "Feels better, right?" Jacob said smiling when he caught her gazing at him.

At the age of 10, J's parents died in an ambush leaving her in the care of her grandfather who years later sent her away along with her best friend to hide her and her identity from those who would try to kill her after her parents.

20 years past, a lot of things had already happened. Her dearest grandfather died, she came back to Lotus City, and was secretly married!

She was married off by her grandfather to his best friend's grandson before he died and she was oblivious about it.

Do this secret marriage has to do with her secret identity?

"Assuming that a woman will neglect her child if she starts working is very strange. Did Eva continue working after you two got married?" Asked Anne, curiously. 
Lars nodded, "Of course! I've never felt negatively about her working even after we had Aphiya. I mean," he stroked his chin as he thought for a moment, "Sure, there were times when taking care of our daughter got in the way of our work, even with Mr. O'Blen's help, but things like that are always bound to happen. Eva's gender had nothing to do with it and I used to run into those issues constantly after her death which is why I hired Mairey." 
"Ah," said the woman as she nodded her head slightly, "I see." She rested one hand against her face and used the other hand to hold the elbow of the opposite arm while she looked to the side for a moment, seeming to be in deep thought. 
"What are you thinking?" Asked the man, curiously.
"Oh," she looked at him, "I recently started reading books by this one woman named Jane Austen. Have you ever heard of her?"
"I have," he nodded, "When Eva was still alive, she really enjoyed reading Austen's books. Her favorite one was 'Emma'."
"That is a great book but my favorites are 'Mansfield Park' and 'Persuasion'. To be honest, I mainly like the second one because the main character has the same name as me. 'Mansfield Park' is much more fascinating in my opinion."
"That's also Mairey's favorite book by Jane Austen," said Lars, "She told me it's one of the best modern stories she's ever read and highly recommends that I read it as well."

"You know," Anne began as she rubbed her chin with the side of her index finger, "You seem to talk about her quite a lot despite the fact that she is just your sitter."
"I mean," the man looked down for a bit and ran his fingers through his neatly combed hair, "She's not just my daughter's sitter. In fact, Mairey is also my good friend and I don't know what I would do without her." He smiled sheepishly. 
"I see," one corner of her mouth perked up a bit, "Anyways, the reason why I brought that up is because I wanted to tell you about my new hobby."
"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow as he faced her.
"Basically I-" she paused for a moment as she remembered something. She turned her head to look at the clock hanging on the wall across from the two of them. "Looks like it's time for tea," she faced Lars again, "I made watercress sandwiches. Would you like some?"
The man nodded, "Sure!" The two of them got up and Anne led Lars into the dinning room. The man took a seat at the table as the woman entered the kitchen. A few seconds later, she came out with a large, porcelain plate full of small sandwiches in one hand and a metal tray in the other. The tray consisted of two white teacups, a porcelain teapot, two saucers, a tiny pitcher of sugar, a tiny pitcher of milk, a folded stack of white napkins, two small plates and two teaspoons. She approached the table and placed the two items down on the table. She placed the teapot and plate on top of two small, white lace doilies which contrasted against the walnut wood table. She placed one of the teacups, with a saucer underneath, in front of Lars and picked up the teapot. She poured some of the fragrant, brown liquid into the cup before setting it back down on the table.
"Cream and sugar?" Asked Anne.
"Yes, but you don't have to do that for me," said Lars, "I prefer doing that myself but thank you very much." Anne passed the two, tiny pitchers over to him before she sat down in the seat adjacent to him. He added lots of sugar and poured a lot of milk in his tea, causing it to change from mocha brown to cornsilk beige. He then stirred his tea with one of the tiny spoons before grabbing one of the small plates. He looked over at the large plate full of food. The plate contained numerous little, triangularly cut sandwiches made with white bread and had watercress leaves sticking out of the sides. Lars grabbed a couple of the crustless sandwiches and placed them on his plate. He looked over at Anne.
"Aren't you going to eat?" He asked.
The woman shook her head, "Not until everyone else eats first. I'll have some food after the girls eat as well."
"Oh," he scratched his chin and looked at her in confusion, "How come?"
"That's just how it works in our home," she sighed, "First, the man of the house eats. Next, the kids and the woman must eat last."
"That doesn't sound fair, to be honest."
"You're right, however," she looked down for a moment, "I must obey my husband's rules on how the family dynamic must be."
"I'm sorry, Anne." Said Lars frowned as he placed his hand on the woman's shoulder.
She looked up at him and gave him a sad smile, "Thank you, Lars."
"You can have a few sandwiches if you want, your husband won't know about that."
"You're right." The woman chuckled. She reached over and grabbed a handful of food from the large plate before placing it on her smaller plate.
"So what was this new hobby of yours that you wanted to tell me about?"
"Yes, that!" Said Anne as she poured herself some tea with cream and sugar, "I was going to say that Jane Austen's books have inspired me to start painting."
"Oh?" He raised an eyebrow as he took a sip of his tea, feeling satisfied at how very sweet his tea was.
"I can show you my paintings after tea if you'd like."
"Sounds good to me!" The man smiled.

After their daughters came downstairs to grab food and then left to go play some more, Anne led Lars over to one of the rooms in her home. Once they entered through the door, Lars noticed that this room looked very different from the rest of the rooms in the house. The walls were dark amber and the wooden floor was made from mahogany. The room was filled with easels, canvases, brushes, and containers of various different shades of paint along with a closet that was full of dirty smocks. Anne walked over and pointed to one of her paintings which was on a large canvas. The image portrayed a fair-skinned, blonde woman sitting on a wooden chair in a maroon red room and was looking out the window on a cloudy, dreary day. The woman was wearing a long, plain, powder blue dress without any jewelry. She was hunched over and seemed to be in mourning.
"This," said Anne, "Is my proudest piece."
Lars stared at the image in awe, "This is beautiful!"
"You really think so?" The woman rubbed the back of her head and looked down, blushing slightly.
"Of course!" He faced her and smiled, "Anne, you're so talented. You should sell these."
She looked up at him and gasped in surprise, "Really? Someone would be willing to buy my art?"
"Mhm!" He nodded, "You can take this to the local art auction. There are plenty of wealthy folk in your area who would love a piece like this hanging in their libraries."
"Oh," she looked down, "I don't think that's a good idea."
"Oh?" Lars looked at her in curiosity, "Does your husband know about this?"
"Yes, but he says it's best if I don't sell these."
"How come?" He raised an eyebrow.
"When I told him about my favorite author, he claimed that a true lady does not write novels since the arts are for men."
"Wait a minute," Lars scratched his head in confusion, "Doesn't Della have a watercolor kit?"
"She does, however, Frank believes that she will grow out of it once she's older and learns how to be a proper woman."
"Oh dear. How do you deal with someone like that?"
"I mean," Anne rubbed the back of her neck and looked down in embarrassment, "I can only stand him after I remember that he is the only son of a wealthy aristocrat and that he was the only man who was willing to marry a low class green person such as myself."
"Tsk tsk tsk," Lars shook his head, "I cannot imagine what it is like to be you."
The woman sighed and looked up at him, "I know, I know. I'm a terrible person for using Frank for his money but it was either this or working as a spinstress and living in a dank apartment in the sketchy part of Birmingham."
Lars looked down and pinched the bridge of his nose, "It's not like you can just dress up as a man and go to the auction while using a male pseudonym."
Anne gasped in surprise as she realized something, "That's a great idea!"
"Wait what?" He looked at her in confusion.
"I'll do exactly that. Thank you so much, Lars!" She hugged him tightly in joy.
Lars just stood there, still unsure about what had just happened. "You're welcome?"

Before leaving school, I still had one more thing to do. I had to return a school library book on Greek Mythology. Entering the library, I heard a loud thud in the Romance section. I rushed over there to find Ms. Mary-Ann the librarian covered in Romance books.
"Are you okay, Ms. Mary-Ann?" I asked.
"I'm fine," she said as I took Wuthering Heights off her white dress shirt.
"What did you do this time?" I asked her.
Ms. Mary Ann picked up a copy of Tristan and Isolde and explained she was trying to reshelve it. She had gotten a ladder and tried placing it on the shelf. However, she leaned the wrong way and fell on her back.
"So what are you here for?" she asked.
"I'm here to return The Fall of Bellerophon by Euripides," I said.
"Done already?" Ms. Mary Ann pondered.
"Yeah," I said.
"What was your favorite part?" she asked.
It was a no brainer! The story of Bellerophon was the story of a naive man who becomes King of Lycia by defeating a monster called a Chimera on a Pegasus. He quickly becomes corrupt and constantly hurts his people. The thing that destroys him is his own pride. He tries to fly to Olympus to be a god and gets struck down by Zeus.
The ending was the best part. He survives the fall only to walk around blinded till the end of his days. I told Ms. Mary-Ann that and she smiled. It was a worried smile though.
"Aderyn," she asked, "Have you thought about running for student council?"
"I would," I responded, "However, I don't want to be indebted to Jason and his dad, the principal."
"With that comment," Ms.Mary-Ann said with her hands on her hips, "I know what book to recommend you next."
She crossed over to the other shelf and handed me Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I started to stare at the appalling work. Ms. Mary-Ann knew I hated the romance genre. Problems couldn't be solved with love and force was the actual answer to these kinds of things.
"No thank you," I told her "I'll just find a new book online."
"Suit yourself" she shrugged.
As I walked home, I thought about how terrible Jason had been. At least tomorrow would be the weekend. Plenty of time to plan new anti-Jason strategies...
