As a freshman, she would be living in a traditional style dorm with no kitchen and a communal bathroom. 

Her room consisted of two beds, two desks, two dressers, a mini fridge, and a microwave. It was long, skinny, and had a single window located between the two beds. 

She decided to claim the right side of the room and asked her dad to set down the box of school supplies and wall decorations that he was carrying to help her set up a little. 

"Where do you want this?" he asked, holding out a few sheets of flower wall decals. 

She looked up from where she was putting away clothes and squinted at them.

It would still be warm for another month or so before she had to break out the fall outfits. 

After unpacking nearly everything she decided to do the decorations herself and sent her dad off with a hug and kiss on the cheek, promising to come visit him the following Sunday and make dinner. He hugged her tightly and told her to call him after her first day to tell him how it went. 

Just like that, he was gone and Keeley was left alone in her new home. She finished setting up the corkboard on her desk with a few photos on it and was working on spreading out the decals of roses, daisies, and leaves around when the door opened.

They even shared the same introductory biology class this semester.

 Keeley was thrilled to meet such a friendly person right off the bat. 

Once the room was set up, it was about dinner time so they headed to the main dining hall nearby. Valentina was fascinated by all the different types of food and asked tons of questions. 

The dining hall was similar to a buffet but not quite. There were several stations offering different meal plates that could be chosen at will, plus a dessert bar that also boasted an assortment of cereal and a waffle maker for breakfast.

She looks like she's about to cry. Ahh right... "Just let me savor the moment a bit. " I muttered unconsciously. "What?!?! " "N-nothing... Put that thingy down..." I stood up and headed towards the dresser. I took a bath tower and threw it to Amelia. "Don't just sit there. You're gonna get sick. " "I'll go out for a bit okay? " "You should've went out right away!!! " Joshua went out the door. 




     "Thank you for the feast. " I silently muttered before turning around and exiting thr door. Ahhh... Did I die and go to heaven? I must've looked like a complete pervert. I think I stared at her for too long. But who could blame me? At least I didn't wuss out and stood up like a man! Although I guess I should apologize to her. But that will make me look like I did something wrong? It's not wrong to appreciate art right?! I mean you can't see such beauty somewhere else right?! Why am I trying to convince myself I did nothing wrong?! Just act cool Joshua! Just act cool! 




     "Huuuuuuu.....  This is horrible... I feel so dirty... Now I'll never get married! " I returned the rapier and slowly stood up. "Arghhh.. Should I take a bath again? " I took a quick bath and I headed to the dressing room. "Ehhh.. There's nothing here that fits me... " I decided to get the most comfortable looking shirt and a pair of shorts. "I guess this will do... " The shirt is too long... It looks like a dress... "You could come in now... " I said. "You sure? " Joshua replied. "Yeah." Joshua entered the room with his hands inside his pockets. "Hmm... Those clothes are too big for you. " Joshua said calmly. Eh? Why is he so calm? Is he not embarrassed by the situation earlier? "W-well! All of the clothes in the dresser do not fit me! " "Ahhh. I see. Don't tell me you're not wearing anything underneath. " "W-wha?! N-no! I! I'm wearing a pair of shorts. " "Ahhh. I thought you liked that sort of thing. " "What?! I wouldn't do such indecent t-things! " My goodness! What does this man take me for??? "Oh yeah. Amelia. What the hell happened earlier? " Eeep!  "I uh... I..  I forgot to bring a towel and I slipped while I was running to the dressing room. " "Ahh. I see. Don't run while you're wet. You're really gonna slip like before if you do. " "Well then. Let's sleep. It's already way too late. I still have work tomorrow. "

     We prepared for sleep. Joshua lied down on the floor and I lied down on the bed. He appears to be asleep. "What's with that guy... " I said silently. "Doesn't he feel any shame or embarrassment? " "Hnnnnnn. Maybe he's just a pervert? " But he didn't take advantage of me. "Maybe he's a chivalrous pervert? "

The shooting lasted for awhile no one gaining advantage over the other. Buildings nearby the bar were a wreck. Many lay on the floor dead. Be it Magitech or Bounty Hunters, Looking around Nex along with her team hid on a nearby cover She spoke to the hooded figure, "Tell me why'd you help me?"

The hooded figure stayed silent as it charged towards the enemies, slicing them down to size.

Nick picked up a gun that fell and started shooting. His aim was something less to be desired. He did hit someone on the shoulders but Magitech's alloy armor was tougher than expected.

"I thought you served in the army! what the fuck kind of aim is that!?" She said as she reloaded her final mag. Nick wiped the sweat from his forehead, "I was a Field Medic!" 

"I'm out. Shit... Magitech got here too fast. They're more cautious than I expected." Nex said as she looked around for a gun.

Nick looked towards her direction, "Oh, you think!?" They moved on another cover, Nex tried to peek but they were met with a hail of bullets. "Okay wise captain, how the fuck are we going to get away from certain death!?"

"I can handle this." Blair said as her arms slowly transformed and combined into a large railgun. Nex sent out a whistle, "Nice."

Blair called the ship, "Please stand by as I open a path and wait for the ship to arrive. For the meantime I shall charge my weapon. I require 30 seconds."


Nex picked up a nearby gun she checked it's content. She threw a smoke grenade and rolled while she kept firing and moved to another cover. The two followed suit Nick however fired his gun randomly hitting shit all.

"Wow, Army man... I see you in a new light now." She said sarcastically suddenly they met with Dessir's group. He looked towards Nex and breathed a sigh of relief. His left hand was covering her shoulder as he stopped the bleeding from his bullet wound.

"Damn it! Even if we died here it would take a long time for the guild to decide whether or not to attack Magitech. We're sitting ducks here." He said as he stared at his men dying slowly.

"Do you have a ship?" He asked her. She nodded and returned fire towards the enemies. Bullets ricocheted into a nearby wall and a metal shard flew to a nearby soldier and punctured his neck.

"I am ready." Blair said as she fired her rail gun. Obliterating the people in front of them. Everything within a Three meter radius in front of them turned into nothing. One Bounty Hunter with the scope augment on his left eye he saw a huge nail lodged on the edge of the dome's walls.

Everything was silent Nex's shout woke them up from their stupor. Everyone scattered for cover. Nex ran straight through. Blair told them she would be landing the Ship nearby where it's clear.

"In the end we still have to Wade through them huh..." Nick said as he tossed the guns on his hands. He stared at Nex, "We should split up and rendezvous on the ship." Nex nodded her head. She looked at Dessir, "What about you?"

He shook his head and told her, "No not me, but these kids need to get to their ships as well. Can you cause a big enough disruption?" Nex gave him a grin, "Fuck yeah, causing chaos is my jam." Dessir grinned fearlessly, "Alright!" He rammed through the metal wall in front of them. Creating a large enough hole for the others to go to.

Nex took the opposite route as she went behind the red light district's buildings. She spotted one and kicked the Gun off of one of Magitech's soldiers and pulled the trigger spraying to the nearby soldiers that were distracted by the loud noise. She rolled to cover as what followed her was a barrage of bullets. She drew venom and Tossed it towards the nearest one as she flipped and ran on the wall sending a kick to the other one snapping his neck.

Nick on the other hand took the alleyways behind the residential buildings what greeted him was a row of soldiers. "Fuck... Damn my luck." They all pointed a gun towards his direction. He jumped towards the window. Glass shattered everywhere.

He ran upstairs as Magitech's soldiers kept firing at him. They chased him inside the tall building. They marched in till the second floor  until Nick Kicked open the closed off room near the stairs pushing off the soldiers tumbling down.

He immediately jumped down to run but a soldier recovered and slammed his gun on Nick's face as he hit the wall. He clicked his tongue and licked the top of his lips as he stood up. Tasting the iron on his nose he chuckled softly, "You're not gonna like what's going to happen next." He said as he blocked another incoming strike and slammed his fist on the man's helmet. He kicked him on his chest and bolted towards the door.

He dashed outside slamming his shoulders at the door as  the soldiers came after him. As soon as he got back on the streets he looked in front and behind and all he saw we're Magitech's soldiers. "You have got to be fucking kidding me." He raised his hands up and smiled meekly, "You know what? Fuck this..." He caressed his silver ring.

He mumbled and the ring glowed blinding the onlookers as a brown shoulder bag made out of leather appeared from it.

He immediately took out two small vials the size of an adults fingers. It looked like it was filled with Brown Liquid. He threw the two vials on the ground and as it broke it released a brown mist enveloping the area.

He jumped on a nearby pipe and climbed up, as he held on the pipe he raised his other arm and chanted,

The ground suddenly rumbled and spikes from the ground and the walls stabbed and pierced every soldier in range. He jumped down and stared at the shivering soldier as he stared at his dead comrades.

Nick put his hand on his helmet and it melted revealing the man's terrified expression. The melted alloy compressed into a small pill. He forcefully opened the man's mouth and put the pill inside.

The soldiers scared out of his wits thinking it was poison fell on his butt and nearly pissed his pants as he tried to scramble away from Nick. He instantly picked up the soldier by the neck and kept on walking as he saw another group of soldiers and tossed the man towards them.

Ink like blades exploded from inside the man impaling almost all of the soldiers to the walls or the ground. He walked through the others as he repeated the same process until he reached their meeting place. He was wearing a frown the whole time. He stared at the direction Nex and Blair took and sighed. "I guess this way works as well."

Blair on the other hand took the high ground and sniped the soldiers. She stared at the soldiers firing at her and tilted her head, "I have calculated the effective range of your weapons and took the right amount of distance. I cannot compute why you insist on keeping up this futile act." She stared at the people who we're firing at her frantically.

She looked at the scope and fired at the temple of another one knocking his helmet off she saw the fury in his expression and felt a tinge. She wondered what that feeling was, as she stared at the corpses.

She kept running and stopped as she dodged a slash from one of Magitech's Elite soldiers as it held a large Oscillating blade. "Damn Android!" It said as it held it's blade up high and ran towards her direction.

She stored her gun and brought out her wrist blades. She dashed towards her enemy and she flipped forwards to dodge the incoming attack. She stabbed him on his ankle and his liver efficiently and quickly. The man fell on his knee unable to move. 

He struggled to stand as he stared at Blair move back a few steps, "I don't understand why you struggle like this. Don't you see it's futile?" She asked him innocently. He roared in anger, "What the fuck do you know!? You're just an Android!" He raised his blade into the shoulder level and steadied his stance. He stabbed towards her and she dodged to the side and put up her hands to block.

The blade slid off his hands and Blade took this chance to stab him in the neck. He held his neck to stop the bleeding and attempted to pick up the blade but he just fell down to his death as he slipped.

Blair kept moving as she wondered why she didn't just shoot the guy. Soon she reached the meeting point as she saw Nick downing flask filled with a strange liquid. Based on her analysis of Nick. There is a high chance of it being alcohol.

She approached Nick as she uncloaked the ship. "We need to defend the point until Master gets here. There are guns inside." Nick groaned, "Of course we need to. Goddammit..." He reluctantly stood up and walked inside.

Nex on the other hand was shot in the shoulders and hit in her head with a baton. Holding her shoulders as her eyes became blurry because of the blood. However it didn't diminish the fear of the people around her. They were fearing her even more now, for the rows of dead people pile up behind her.

Panting heavily she asked, "Who else wants to die today?" Her expression twisted in pain. Suddenly Alex came crashing through the wall. Slamming into Nex he tried to grab her as they both slammed into the next wall, but he got kicked in the stomach sending him a few meters away.

"Hehehe even without power armor you could still send me flying." He said as he dusted of his armor. Nex on the other hand was staring at his armor as it glowed a natural blue hue. It's imbued with pretty strong magic she thought. Even if she doesn't have any knowledge on the subject she could clearly discern it's quality.

"Even without power armor I could turn you into meat paste!" She said as she picked herself up. Leaning on the wall as she breathed heavily regaining her stamina.

"Join us Nex. With us we could help you become even more. We could finish what they started. Become even more perfect." He said as the edges on his armor glowed yellow. He took slow steps into a full dash as he slammed his fist into her face. Nex in turn did the same creating a shockwave. Sending Alex back where he started and Nex shooting through the wall inside the small building.

She spat the blood on her mouth and quickly stood up. She shook her head and gestured at Alex to come at her. The two fought in a close Melee. Alex having the obvious advantage as he practices a style. Unlike Nex who was swinging wildly relying on her instincts.

The two gained distance from each other. Alex has a few dents in his armor, Nex however was standing as if she didn't feel a thing. Spitting occasionally as blood was filling her mouth. Alex threw his dented helmet and revealed his face was bleeding.

He spat blood on the ground as he shook his head disappointingly, "Flawed castings from a perfect mold. I thought you were the greatest among all of them A.L.I.C.E. , Good thing we have the right technology to correct the mistakes." His hands were shaking slightly as he said those words.

She appeared beneath him and slammed her fist at his stomach. He blocked the strike raising both his arms up. "Your disobedience for example will be erased. Replaced by undying loyalty to us." Nex however wasn't speaking. She focused her remaining energy on fighting Alex. Not noticing the hooded figure killing all of the Magitech soldiers surrounding them.

Stepping back she pulled out her blade and slashed it downwards, Alex blocked the incoming attack as he held her arm and slammed her on the ground. She rolled on the ground avoiding the stomp that aimed at her face.

"I'll take you with me even if it means that you're no longer breathi- -" Before he could finish speaking a blade came his way, immediately raising his arms up to block it sending him a few steps back. He stared at the assailant with anger.

"Who the fuck is this now?" He pointed at the hooded figure as he stared at Nex, however she just leaned on the concrete wall holding her bullet wound.

Alex swiftly pulled out his gun and shot towards the hooded figure. Beneath the hood Nex could see the faint blue light near it's eyes become brighter. The hooded figure slashed at the air multiple times. Even with her inhuman instincts she could barely follow the strikes. Bullets that were sliced in half dropped towards the ground signalling the start of the fight.

Alex dodged to the side and reloaded his gun. He kicked up dust and jumped of a nearby wall sending a kick. It was swiftly evaded, but the hood was taken off.

Beautiful Red hair that extended until her elbows tied into a ponytail. Her Pure Black irises with red lines forming a circle near her pupils as if it was a solar eclipse. It's enchanting beauty drew in both of them who stared directly at it. She was wearing a voice modulator mask that covered half of her face.

Alex grinned as soon as he saw her hair. "Heh, a survivor... Now that's a surprise." However the red haired girl was silent. She spun her blade as she took off the voice modulator. Her beautiful face like a doll that looks like it would break if you touch it. Wearing an Expression colder than ice that would send chills down your very soul.

A faint scar ran across her left cheek but it didn't ruin her Oriental beauty in the slightest. She looked towards Nex and bowed slightly. Nex on the other hand was dazed those eyes were emitting Mana so vast it defeated the glow on Alex's armor.

However her eyes weren't the only eye-catching thing. It was those giant black headphones she was wearing on her head. it's decals glowed a shade of orange neon, with two glowing stars on each side.

The red haired girl turned her attention to Alex. As gestured for another round of bout, "Go... I'll hold him off." She said as Nex stood up and ran. Alex tried to run after her but was met with a horizontal slash.

"Stop getting in my way!" He bellowed at the girl. The girl however smirked and shrugged. Alex clicked his tongue and brought out his foldable oscillating blade. "Fine I'll take you down first."

The two exchanged swords the girl having obvious advantage. They kept at it making the air around them vibrate. After the bout the girl ran forward. Large outlines of slashes were seen at the two buildings that made the alley, It soon crumbled into large debris falling right between them. She curtsied towards Alex. Wearing a furious expression as he stared at the girl beyond the debris blocking the way.

"You think this is going to stop me?" He tried to punch through it but failed. He stared at the debris and saw a blue talisman with Asian inscriptions. He tried to touch it but as if a jelly like substance was blocking him. Looking at the way it was written it was probably Japanese. He frowned and He turned around and ran to a different route.

Nex felt her wristwatch vibrating she patched it through and heard Dessir's voice. "It's done, it's my turn to cover you." He said, soon enough Nex reached Nick and Blair shooting at the remaining soldiers. She ran quickly with the red haired girls support and they quickly dealt with the soldiers and She finally got inside the ship. She ran towards the medic bay and popped a painkiller straight into her mouth as she pulled the bullet out.

Strapping it with a Nanotech strap to close the wound. Staring at the screen she could see that Alex and his men already caught up. She ran towards her room and picked up her duffle bag.

She stood at the opened hatch and brought out a MIRV launcher and stared at the red haired girl. "Thanks for the help!" She shouted towards the red haired girl.

The girl nodded and said, "Infinite in mystery is the gift of the Goddess." She raised her hand up towards the sky and clenched her fingers, "We seek it thus, and take to the sky" She stared at the dead men scattered across their battle, "Ripples form on the waters surface." She bowed towards Nex and slowly blended in with the shadows leaving her last remarks, "Thy wandering soul knows no rest."

Nex raised her eyebrows and muttered under her breath, "Who the fuck talks like that?" She aimed towards Alex and his men. She fired and a loud thundering sound echoed through the area. A Rocket the size of an arm flew up as high as the tallest building and rained down a hail of tiny rockets towards Alex.


A series of explosions and screams followed after. Debris falling everywhere and beneath all of that were Magitech's soldiers buried under the rubble. Nex prompted Blair to move. The ship set it's destination to earth. Nex stared at her destructive wake for a few seconds before turning around.

What caused the downfall of countless empires from the tales of old? Was it Greed? Nay it was Man...It has always been man.


In an Age where Technology ruled over man, There is another reality hidden beneath it all. A thin veil of lies. One of Power, One of Despair, One of Magic.


In a world where both the Supernatural and the Extraterrestrial Coalesce. How would one survive without the Art of Magic? With guns? With swords that are also guns? Nonsense! You'd only be delaying your death.


But there is One last line of Defense...


Call her A Criminal, A Bounty Hunter, A Gun for Hire, A murderer, A Monster. No one really knows what she is.


But there is one stark truth behind all of that, She can kick ass.


Follow Nex on her adventures as she embarks on a journey across the universe encountering different forms of life, and eventually finding one of the strongest secret weapons scattered across myriads of dimensions.


The question is...

Would she use it to reignite the spark of hope, long lost in the millennium of bloodshed?

Or would she stomp on it's embers for good?

Hey Guys this is the First Official and Original book that I'm writing. But I have written a Fanfiction before.

Anyways Back to this book, This concept came to mind as I was writing my first fanfic. Like a eureka moment. But I was in my room... all alone... With no one to tell it to...


Oh F--- I got distracted, The powers of the protag here is indirectly connected to my fanfic. She kinda appears in a chapter that I *Would/Might* Release in the future.


I kinda droned on there more than necessary, anyways I hope you guys enjoy this book.

The town isn't that big, maybe a mile in diameter. You estimate around 1,500-2,000 residents. It is fortified with a wooden wall. Not strong enough for a proper siege — but enough to keep wild animals and ruffians out. You see three guards at the entrance, lightly-armored and carrying spears.
"Eomer!" one of the guards hailed. "How was the hunt? Will we get to see more boar at the stands?" he asks eagerly.

"Indeed, indeed," answers Eomer. "We managed to subdue three of the beasts. My part should be enough to cover the wife's delivery and the new kid."

"I heard your wife was due any day now," remarked the guard. "It's a good thing you got back in time. 

The guard finally notices you — or finally chose to notice you. "Who's the new kid?" gesturing towards you.

"He's a fellow hunter from Fishcreek," answers Eomer. "He'll be living with Thomas for the time being until he can settle on his own."

"Caleb," you introduce yourself to the guard. 

"If Eomer and his hunters will vouch for you — then you're more than welcome in Ashford." The guard says as he shakes your hand. He looks to Eomer afterwards, "Get that boy a bath. Where the hell did you find him?"

Eomer and the hunters laugh but provide no further answers. 

"I'll be taking the wagon with Trent to sell the goods," says Eomer. "You guys can go home." He pauses for a bit and turns to you, "Do you want me to sell your pelts and beast cores?"
"Yes please, thank you," you answer as you give him the beast cores and two of the pelts. You keep one of the frostwolf pelt for yourself.

The hunters go their separate ways, although you and Thomas stuck together. He wanted to get dinner in some inn but decided not to. "After a bath," he chided. "Alice will kill me if I bring someone as grimy and smelly as you to her inn."

You laugh silently. You're looking forward to the bath yourself so you can get to know more of this town. At first glance, everything seems so alien and a bit primitive. Everyone you pass by seems to be living comfortably, but something tells you — you've seen far better conditions.

After a few minutes of walking you arrive at Thomas' residence. It was definitely not a commoner's house. It had its own courtyard and the house was relatively large compared to the others that you passed by. It even had a couple of archery targets by the wall. The location wasn't that good as the house was located directly beside the town's defensive wall, so maybe that brought down the cost a bit.

"Welcome to my home," Thomas proudly says. "The bath is to the left and I will get you a fresh set of clothing before you're done."

You nod in gratitude and enter the bath. It was a crude and simple one — with just a large barrel filled with water and a copper water dipper. Surprisingly, you find a crude form of soap. 

You quickly take your bath, getting rid of the accumulated grime and bear musk. You open the door to find a fresh set of clothes on a stool. The clothes fit, a bit tight in some places but quite suitable. 

You hear sounds of splashing water as you approach the house. Apparently, Thomas had another bath inside — quite luxurious for a mere hunter. 

Thomas emerges from the house, dressed in flamboyant red clothing. It's a good thing he gave you plain-looking clothes — at least this way he gets most of the attention.

"Let's go," he says walking towards the street. "Time for you to get to know the hungry cat."
You follow in his footsteps and after a couple of minutes walking, you arrive at your destination. 

Hungry Cat was the name of the inn. 

You hear boisterous conversations inside as well as the sounds of everyday people having their meals. You count twenty three patrons inside and three serving girls. Alice is probably the older woman behind the counter. 

You and Thomas approach the counter and take your seats. 

"A house special with double the servings of meat for me and my new friend," Thomas orders for the both of you. He looks at you and says, "My treat for the time being — you can pay after you get your money from Eomer by tomorrow."

"Thanks," you accept the small kindness. 

The meal consisted of what seems to be double portions of leg of lamb, some vegetables, and a pint of ale. It was quite suitable, easily digestible and filled with nutrients. The ale had an alcohol concentration of around 6 percent. You could have made a more accurate measure but you didn't bother with the insignificant detail.

You see Thomas chatting one of the barmaids.  It seems they have some sort of relationship or the barmaid is just really good at her job. Eventually, Thomas got tired of flirting with the barmaid and the two of you return to his house. 

He leads you to a small shed behind the house. It's dark but you could see a wooden bed with a somewhat thin mat. 

"This is your place for as long as you need it," says Thomas. "I should have cleaned it before we left, but it's still better than the open ground. " He gestures at a few objects inside saying, "There's a lamp, some wood, and flint inside if you want light or fire."

"Thank you," you say wholeheartedly. "I'm sure this place will be fine."

"We'll meet Eomer and the others in the guild tomorrow for our money," he says with a bit of excitement. "Those boars will sell for good money and those cores of yours will probably get the attention of the more expensive shops."

Thomas enters his house, visibly tired from the journey and you are left alone in the converted shed. You light a fire with the flint, making a small fire before eventually lighting the lamp. You start working on your solitary wolf pelt — shaping into something like a hood that you can wear. You do this not out of a sense of fashion but protection. 

You have an instinctual aversion to cold and this wolf's pelt seems to be immune to it. You saw one of the wolves getting hit with another's frost breath but it didn't seem to take any damage and you're hoping the pelt somewhat retains this ability. 

You entertain the thought of roaming inside the city but felt it would be better to give your new companions the opportunity to guide you. However, outside is another matter. 

You leave your room and head to the wall, noting every possible handhold and foothold before even getting there. The wall is fifteen feet high but it only takes you a couple of seconds to scare it and jump down. 

You land with minimal noise and note the position where you exited the wall. It is fairly dark so you dash outside the city with little fear of being spotted. 

You leisurely walk around the perimeter of the city, but far enough away to evade the eyes of any sentries. The town has three entrances all manned by four or five guards. The roads are somewhat paved, similar to the town's streets but they extend no further than 3 miles out.

Trade with the town is probably small because of the unpaved roads — but this isn't a problem that concerns you for the moment. You visit a few of the residences outside the town — a few loggers and a couple of families that just want to live outside the city.  

You come across an abandoned house. A fire seems to have destroyed it and vegetation has taken over the surroundings.  Judging from the growth, the place has been abandoned for at least a couple of years. 

"Life is hard," you think. These peasants were probably done in by bandits or orcs. While there is a certain freedom in living outside of town — it's always safer to live in a walled community. If anyone wants to live outside of the town, they better have the means to defend themselves.

Moving further away you find yourself back in the forested area from before. You decide to pick up the two frostwolf pelts you discarded earlier that day — assuming they're still there. 

They were gone. 

You see trails of what seems to be small humanoids. "Goblins perhaps?" you think to yourself, remembering the stories the hunters told on the way back. One of them included sightings of goblins and this might just be that group.

You decide to chase after them but remember four clothing. It would be a shame to mess up your borrowed clothes with goblin blood — not to mention all the explaining and deception that would entail.

From the tracks you figure that there are around seven or eight goblins. Judging by their footprints, these goblins were probably the size of children. Even if they were strong, the weight difference puts them at a big disadvantage — and you probably weigh four times as much as a single goblin. 

Armed with a borrowed dagger, you figure things won't get dangerous even if things go south. At the most you would dirty your clothes.

You gather a few stones. These goblins would probably go down with one hit. You're not sure if they have some sort of nightvision so you keep your distance. Although you can see fairly well with just the starlight, you decide to try something new.

You close your eyes and snap your fingers.

It takes a few tries but soon enough you begin to make out a mental map of the things around you. You try again with your eyes open and it takes a little more concentration.

"Useful," you think. Maybe those crimson bats had the right idea after all. Although perceiving the world through echoes had its advantage — you lose a lot of detail and there's a slight delay in transmission. Light is faster than sound, more so because sounds have to bounce back. 

The all-around vision is a bit useful, but snapping your fingers constantly won't work. You try humming a soft drone instead — and it works perfectly. While you'll still be primarily relying on vision, you now have an extra line of perception to cover your back.

Soon enough, you easily catch up to the goblins. They are walking three hundred feet away and they seem to have no idea they're being followed. They are indeed the size of children and you wonder how they can even pose a threat to the townspeople.

You move closer, making sure not to get heard. The goblins make no effort at vigilance so it's not a difficult task. You take out a few of stones you picked up while you trailed the goblins — normal pebbles around an inch or more in diameter.

You mark the two goblins with wearing your wolf pelt and you throw two stones consecutively.

Kasthark! Thuduk!

The two stones hit. One piercing a goblin's head, the other smashing through another's rib cage.

"Fragile creatures these goblins," a thought comes to mind. 

Before the other goblins can react, two more of their band are hit with your stones.

They flee, or at least try to.

Even as they scatter in different directions, three of them get hit by a flying rock. The last goblin managed to run a few yards before finally getting hit by a dagger. 

You retrieve the dagger. The last goblin actually managed to get you to run. 

You retrieve your pelts. Wild animals will probably take care of the goblin corpses and you didn't want to dirty your clothes by searching their bloody corpses.

You head back to town and straight to the wall you exited from.

You throw the wolf pelts over the wall and then scale it with ease. You take a little more effort to land silently lest you wake up your sleeping host. You stuff the pelts in one of the drawers in the room and finally lie down to sleep.

New town, new beginnings — and definitely a myriad possibilities.

She did not know what to do, and her reaction speed was declining. Unknowingly, she rested her hands on his chest.
She intended to push him away, but the moment she felt his chest, she lost the energy to.
Her fingers curled a little, coming into contact with his skin. She felt like she was against a solid wall. 
Suddenly, Qi Chengzhi hoisted her up and single-handedly grabbed her hand from his chest and guided it into his bath towel.
Song Yu was already bewildered by the kiss and was not aware of his intentions. Her soft fingertips were taken by him and probed at the bath towel along his waistline. At that moment, the doorbell rang like a thunderbolt in a clear sky.
The ringing of the doorbell came pouring onto Song Yu like a bucket of cold water. She was sobered up in an instant.
She finally noticed where he guided her hand to and retracted hurriedly and pushed him away with all of the force she had using both of her hands.
Qi Chengzhi remained motionless like a wall made of stone. So, she started to struggle incessantly.
Her clothes and hair were in a mess.
The doorbell kept ringing and Luo Yushu's voice could be heard from outside of the door, "Director, I'm Luo Yushu. You told me to meet you tonight to discuss work-related matters."
It was the time Qi Chengzhi arranged with him, Luo Yushu did not consider the possibility that Qi Chengzhi may not be around.
Qi Chengzhi could have pretended that he was not around and continue, but somehow he let Song Yu go easily this time.
After both of her feet returned to the ground, he supported Song Yu around her waist just in time when she was about to fall, as if he had known that she definitely would lose balance.
Qi Chengzhi turned around to open the door after he made sure that she could stand upright by herself.
"Director…" Luo Yushu stood at the door and saw that Song Yu was leaning against the wall beside the door when he was about to enter.
Her hair and clothes were in disarray. Her face was bright red, and her lips were swollen and red as well. When he turned towards Qi Chengzhi, he saw that he was only covered with a bath towel that was hanging loosely on the waist. It seemed like it could fall off anytime and there would be nothing left by then.
Luo Yushu was able to guess immediately about what just happened between both of them based on the Qi Chengzhi's delay when answering the door.
Luo Yushu thought to himself proudly, 'Little shit, still denying your relationship with the director! Luckily I'm not fooled!"
"Director, you're busy with Miss Song? Please excuse me," Luo Yushu said in all seriousness and wanted to leave.
"I'm about to leave," Song Yu said in a hurry. She lowered her head and dared not look at Qi Chengzhi and Luo Yushu.
