As he was wondering what happened to the others, he remembered one of the novels he had read. It was a story of a fantasy world, where a king of a human kingdom summons heroes from another world to save their world from the demon king, a typical Isekai (Another World)  fantasy novel.

Our protagonist, John Kaiser, started to contemplate and question 'why?' why was he the only one not summoned?

And as his questions go crazy, a light emerges from the place where he was sitting.

Is this the start of our protagonist's fantasy adventure as a hero? Or will he live the same life again as an average person even in another world?

"I must admit.. I'm quite blown away by this..", stated Kaishin after reading through the full translated text of Gamekh's ancient stone slabs presented to him by Atarashi Kyouka in his office. "I do not know if the other nations have some knowledge of it.. but that simply says we have just unearthed the first written piece of history from the Blank Century.."

Standing in attention behind their quirky cherry blossom-headed teacher, Seijurou, Chizuru and Jax shot chiming glances at each other as if they just fulfilled a very important mission for the country, which they actually did. 

Hayama Akira, who was leaning against the wall cross-armed behind the shogun's desk, nodded with a faint smirk at his students to commend them for their recent actions.

However, even if his face was fully concealed by his glinting golden kabuto, the way Kaishin exhaled through his mask simply indicated that there was still much to be done regarding the issue at hand. 

"The facts stated by the ancient text may have solved a number of issues in relation to our government's treatment of the Orcs. Not to mention.. this piece of history is a reason for us Jihonians to be proud of, being the first to uncover a Blank Century written document..", remarked the shogun with some fatigue in his voice. 

"However..", Kaishin continued, trying to keep his voice as calm as possible. "I still don't see the reason how this is related to the quest I've given you, little Seijurou. If I remember it correctly.. I sent you to retrieve the 'Log Panel'. Where is it?"

Seijurou looked at Chizuru, who smiled worriedly but reassuringly at him, before taking a step forward to state his case. He then placed a document with his and Kyouka's scribbles on it on the nation's leader's table.

"With all due respect, shogun-sama. Our team had to deal with a number of issues during the quest before arriving at a conclusion..", Seijurou began his explanation as he gestured at the writing he just presented. "And.. as this document states.. we still have to deal with more issues before we arrive at that same conclusion. The 'Log Panel' isn't there, sir.. only another clue of its whereabouts like in Minami.."

Kaishin held the piece of paper up and began reading to comprehend more of what the boy was trying to present to him. "I see.. and it seems this 'Log Panel' quest only leads us to another location that points to another.. but I believe this is a little bit more precise than the one in Minami. So.. care to explain?"

"As you can see, shogun-sama.. I've encircled this word, which seems to repeat itself throughout the entire text..", interrupted Kyouka suddenly as she pointed what she was pertaining to with a finger. 

'She really is a quirky one.. the shogun was asking Seijurou..', thought Chizuru with an awkward smile before glancing at Jax, who was staring at Kyouka's behind with a bashful expression. 'And this one really is a closet pervert..'

"It's the word 'blessing'..", continued Kyouka. "In fact.. it was the key word we got from the Blade of Erymanthos' enchantment's incantation text, which allowed me to interpret the entire text."

"And what of this word, Atarashi Kyouka-sensei?..", inquired Kaishin.

"The characters used to make this word in this form of ancient writing also translate to two other words.. 'Grace' and 'Fire'.."

"Based on the findings of your study..", uttered the shogun. "You're telling me that the first century Elves were hell bent on passing this 'fire' but only to the worthy? How? And why?"

"Through a trial..", it was Seijurou's turn to interrupt. "We believe it was their way to know who was worthy to receive their blessing, grace or fire, shogun-sama. The author of this text is saying that they were desperately trying to set a trial up for the generations to come."

Jax shook his head in awe after seeing his teammate take action. 'I don't know if he's socially awkward or not.. but that otaku's got guts for speaking to the shogun like that..'

"What trial did they make?..", asked Kaishin. "And for what purpose?"

Seijurou glanced at his best friend with a smile before he answered. "They unleashed a destructively magical beast called Erymanthos.. and whoever slays him.. receives the blessing.. one of the many needed to reach the 'Log Panel'.."

The great leader of the Jihonian Shogunate suddenly found himself sitting upright upon being astounded by the boy's words. "I'll be damned.. very well said. So.. the 'Log Panel' requires more of these tests? It must be one overly powerful artifact to say the least. Does it say where to go next?"

"The 'Elder Folk' tend to speak in riddles to test the strength of the mind of those who undergo the trial..", stated Kyouka as she began referring to her scribbles again. "The last time there were specific coordinates hidden from plain view.. but this one.. requires some wordplay.."

The incantations specialist began to write different ancient characters on a piece of paper. Using doodles and arrows, she showed the shogun the different combinations of words that make up almost the same meaning.

"The second most prevalent word is 'trial'..", uttered Kyouka while pointing to the written version. "Using ancient text.. it can also mean 'baptism'. If we utilize another combination.. 'Trial to gain the Blessing'.. also literally means, 'Baptism by way of Fire'. With that.. I firmly believe where the next lead is."

"The church..", said the shogun as he smiled under his mask. 

Kyouka stood up straight with a smug look on her face. "Precisely.."

Hayama suddenly stepped forward to face his superior. "The 'Holy Pontiff' isn't going to be pleased with this one especially that the government has an ongoing moral dispute with the church, Kaishin-shogun.. but maybe we can go through the bishop first. Your orders?"

"It certainly pleases me that we don't have to go through another tumultuous military conflict just to get our hands on the 'Log Panel' though..", stated Kaishin as he stood up loomingly over his subordinates. "However.. I advise you to take caution on this one. This is a very sensitive issue. Take your time to assess and prepare for this quest. I leave it in your hands now.. all of you. That's all. You are dismissed."

With one voice, all the members of Hayama's unit, along with Kyouka, acknowledged the shogun. "Hai! Shogun-sama!"

It usually is the same old story. And, having a typical geek as a protagonist should be a breeze since he probably had it figured out, living in a world of warriors, mages, rangers, and stealth fighters where leveling up is all about. 

Quite simple to say the least in truth, do not deplete health points, avoid draining stamina points, and use magic points wisely. 

However, Erida Seijurou is a geek born in this kind of world, meaning he plays video games, reads light novels and manga, and watches anime series in this same world. His willingness to put himself on the line to improve battle skills, cast magical spells, and form parties, like the ones in role playing games, is close to none. 

Thinking of himself as an irrelevant speck to everything, and thinking of everything as irrelevant to his illusory high and mighty self, what could Seijurou possibly do if the truth of the world he lives in begins to become more relevant and threatens the very lives of the ones closest to him? 

"That was one long sentence..", Seijurou thought as he realized how much of a drag just to read through it.

As Guard Commander Chan sunk deeper into the dense Woods, the area around him became darker faster than the beat of his heart. Apart from dusk covering the sky, the woods contributed to this darkness as well. Due to it, Paranoia followed him faster than that 6 foot tall Wild Boar did. He kept hearing noises from each side too often. Although he didn't like it, he didn't react too much to it. His worst concern were animals naturally camouflaged in the woods.

Let's pretend that this place isn't heavily haunted. Let's pretend there aren't any ghosts around here. Good, but him simply walking in the dark can equal to his death. As many species which can be potential predators are Nocturnal. Example, Bears! It's hard enough to survive a bear encounter in the broad morning sunlight. If a Bear decides to attack him at such darkness, death is inevitable. He doesn't even have a torch, not to mention the required skill to survive an animal attack! Getting the opportunity to see a Source Bear in action, the last thing he wants to experience right now is to encounter another one of those. Thankfully, they aren't so common in Ignis anymore.

In this case, you would think that it wouldn't get any worse. Well... once he started running away from that massive Wild Boar and made his way through the part of the forest thick in thorny branches, he lost his backpack which contained his Camping equipment, the accurate map to the Ghost Tree and the written special word that he needs to succeed with this task. This just makes survival even tougher.

All of the equipment he has now, is an Iron Dagger. But unless he has an extensive knowledge in off the land survival, it won't make much of a difference if he has a Dagger or not. You can give a Flamingo a knife but it would only be funny unless the Flamingo is a GrandMaster in Swordsmanship.

Out of fear, he didn't even notice that he was missing such important equipment until after he encountered the Ghost who portrayed itself as Guard Commander Chan's long dead father, one bad scene after the other didn't give him the time to check for his belongings. Would you check if you went through anything similar? 

The setting sun reminded him of the cold night, nights he got a bit used too but still had a strong hate for! He is now certain that he underestimated and undervalued the comfort of a warm bed and a roof over his head. When he first felt his back, his eyes widened in... I'd like to say fear? Fear from the cold would be the best description of his current feelings. And anger swiftly arose on his heart. It was hard enough to survive the night with the Camping equipment. But this? It is too much. He will turn to a frozen treat for Predators.

"I'm sick of this bullshit." He yelled in anger from the top of his lungs. Scaring nearby crows and forcing them to fly towards the sky, he is fed up with this quest in general. Right  after he yelled, he punched an arm thick tree a couple of feet near him to at least let out some of his stress and anger, it only ended up giving him more. As you might already know, it isn't a breeze to punch a tree with all your might. Even for an average or slightly a bit over average person, it would be a very painful experience.

"Shit shit shit shit Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit Shit!"

"By the name of crap big and small."

"Boarcrap!"

As you can see from the... different dialect that ran through his mouth at the moment, beautifully expressing his pain, hitting the tree sure hurt his hand but it still felt minor compared to everything else he went through today. Even though hitting a tree in the freezing cold only increased the pain, with luck by his side trying to undo his nonsense, he thankfully he didn't break any fingers.

But now weighing his options, it was clear that he only has two. Proceed with this quest and risk his life with potentially life threatening Hypothermia, he could be risking to not wake up in the morning once more due to the cold alone! Apart from the cold, chances are that that possibly mutated Wild Boar is still on Chan's trail. The Ghosts don't seem so friendly either. His second option would be to turn back and tell King Xakro illustratio lll that he quit the quest when the odds didn't work to his favour. The King won't likely look kindly upon a failure.

"Ghost Tree it is." He told himself feeling 100% convinced about it. Knowing that whatever danger awaiting him in this forest is nothing compared to being burned out of existence in a blink without the ashes remaining as an aftermath. Although that sort of death would be quick, he obviously wasn't curious enough to try it or try his luck with King Xakro, an unstable psychopath.

"Over here."

"Huh." Another unknown voice? Getting a flash of memory on his mind due to it, remembering what King Xakro said. Ghosts will be more active as soon as the day turns into night. As soon as the sun sets over the horizon. So he started convincing himself to think for the better. At least it will be easier to find the Ghost Tree now. And compared to the lack of paranormal activities throughout the other nights, he must be very close to it.

"Oh no. I ain't going through this bullshit again. Call once more and i'll freeze your ass!" Imagine having the guts to argue with a ghost! He is either getting used to them or feels too confident because he knows their weakness.

"Kiss my fading ass." Apparently another nearby Ghost didn't like Guard Commander Chan's attitude. You would expect them to say something more spooky, but no. They are talking like people in Saloons who had too much beer. What an adventure it would be to study them!

"Alright that's it!" He yelled as he reached for his backpack to get the Parchment containing the special word which can freeze these ghosts. But.

"Shit. The Parchment was on the Backpack." Upon realizing that he had lost the special word which can literally put this huge task to an end, his confidence went down and sunk below the ground.

"Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha..."
Laughed another voice from a distance, mocking Chan's misfortune.

"Shut the hell up." Yelled out Guard Commander Chan in anger, he was carrying enough stress. Realizing that he lost that special parchment, was the last thing he needed to go through today.

Surprisingly, still avoiding to give up, he started Whispering to himself. "Alright let's see if I can remember that word. I went too far in to simply quit!" While massaging his temples to think about that word with all of his concentrating capacities, yeah this was definitely something he doesn't do often.

"Alegale?" Spoke out Chan with a slight light of confidence. He felt so sure that the word was based on Ale, enough to keep arguing with the Ghosts. This is so pathetic. It was him who got his hands on this word, risking his own skin for it. How by the 8 sources of Demonic powers could he forget?

"No darling. Try again." Replied a thick manly voice from a distance. It's like they've put Chan on a circle and were messing with him to pass time.

"Really? I was half sure about that anyway." Afterwards sitting on an old rotten stump, thinking about this harder as if he isn't talking to actual ghosts... I have to say, his lack of fear towards Ghosts is unexplainable. "How about.... ahaaaa! Aletapos?"

"Uuu you are so close."

"Forget about Ale already. It ain't it."

Feeling that it would take way too long to remember the word by his own, he proceeded to ask, "By any chance, can any of you find and bring me my backpack so i can render all of you powerless."

Perhaps Ale helps Chan think more clearly? Because at this moment he sounds like he chucked down 15 bottles of them this morning with its effects still active. He is making less sense than the ghosts even though unintentional.

"Well, I wouldn't say all. But no."

"Common. Be useful for once god dammit." Yelled Chan at a tree. I mean, at least he has a direction to turn too instead of speaking with air.

"Hey. We aren't the ones wasting time arguing with Ghosts."

"But you are ghosts..."

"Yes. But i don't argue with other Ghosts. My family from the first era had class, thank you very much."

"Sassy little shit." Expressed Guard Commander Chan. Unfortunately for him, he expressed himself too freely this time. He turned around to a tap on his shoulder, only to see a light skinned 10 foot Woman. It wasn't a Calidum Lutum though.

Fire... beautiful isn't it? It can burn, destroy, breach, but what if it's superiorly charged? Bestowed upon a human being at a rate that's incomparable even against the toughest Fire Blasters of history?

Young Eric has been blessed with such ability, he has been blessed with the title of an Electus!
Which apart from Fire, brings 7 more powers, making him one of a kind.

Perfect timing, as Demons from another dimension are flocking the sea and land, looking to shred the world, aiming to destroy all 13 continents.

Yet there is hope! Black Fire, yes... that's the cure. It can dismantle portals, ultimately slowing down the invasions.

In the early morning on the next day.
Everyone was starting to leave the mountain.
Chu Yang was beaming with joy and smugly bidding farewell to his brothers. Everyone was patting each other on the shoulders and exchanging jokes and blissful conversation.
Everyone gradually disappeared beyond the horizon.
Heaven and earth returned to silence and stillness.
There wasn't single drop of blood that remained beside the Lake of Death, and it was just so clean.
Snow began to flutter down from the skies.
Chu Yang had a faint smile on his face as he walked back calmly.
There was only one tent left. His brothers worked together before they left and helped him tie his tent down securely, and half of his tent was buried in the world of ice and snow.
A tent like this could only be worn down by the wind, but it wouldn't be blown away.
There were piles of food and wine inside, and there were enough supplies for Chu Yang to enjoy for half a year. There were lamps and flints on a table on one side, and these could last him for more than a year.
There were marvelous animal hides, and several layers were stacked up from the tent's ceiling to the walls and even the floor.
Chu Yang was lying down on the animal skins, and he was blinking as he contemplated for a long time.
He thought to himself, "Du Gu Xing is responsible, and Mo Tianji will make plans. I am very assured."
"They have their own targets, and I am also very assured about that."
"You guys can dominate the Nine Heavens even without me in the future!"
"As for Mo Qingwu… I won't think about her for now."

Two great Paragon's divine senses exerted pressure at the same time and met with this sword light!
A boom could be heard as the Paragons' divine senses were dispelled in the blink of an eye. The beam of sword light flew into the air as if it was slicing the heavens open.
Somewhere in an unknown place far away, two people opened their eyes at the same time, and an expression of utter disbelief flowed from their eyes before they spit out a mouthful of fresh blood at the same time.
"Who is that, who's so powerful?! Can he be a God?" They asked at the same time, and their eyes were heavy and solemn.
This force crushed their divine senses that they had been maintaining with their full strength with one hit! What kind of cultivation rank was that?
They turned around at the same time, and their eyes seemed very conflicted as they stared at something in the void. In that place, during a time far, far away, they had… they had left their divine senses there before!
"Let's take a look!"

A thunderclap crackled in the sky.
The sky was black, and it suddenly separated into two different colors hideously.
Half of it was bright as day.
The other half was pitch-black, and it was the of black that was almost transparent!
The sword chimed like a dragon as it rushed into the heavens!
A boom could be heard as the entire Nine heavens quivered vigorously! Landslides happened at the same time in countless large mountains and canyons, while avalanches of snow occurred on countless ice peaks and snowy mountains!
The same phenomena occurred in the Higher Three Heavens, in the Middle Three Heavens, and the Lower Three Heavens!
The sword tip ringed out, the sword edge hummed, while the sword blade howled sharply!
Three beams of sword lights intertwined with each other and surged up at the same time!
Four beams of sword lights waltzed through the air in the sky, and they sliced open the night sky into countless pieces!
The sword lights flickered chaotically after a long while before they transformed into lightning bolts one after another that connected the heavens to the earth!
Darkness returned to the world.
Four sword lights intersected with one another to form a word in the dark night sky.
"Come!"
Chu Yang chuckled as his body drifted out from his tent.
His eyes became constant and resolute in that moment.
"No hope?"
"Heh, even if I only have one thread of hope, will I, Chu Yang, give up?"
"Death is just an affair, and the obliteration of my soul and my spirit is nothing!"
"But before my body dies, I will still be Chu Yang!"
"I will still be the Nine Tribulations Sword's owner!"
"I'm coming!" Chu Yang laughed as he leapt into the sky. He met with that immensely powerful pulling force as his body resembled a flying dragon dancing in the sky. He plummeted into the Lake of Death in a flash!
Torrential waves rolled through the Lake of Death!
The sword lights in midair vanished in an instant, and the sword tip, blade, and edge followed behind Chu Yang as if they were children jumping into their mother's embrace, and they dropped into the Lake of Death with a swish!
The Lake of Death churned and raged, and it became smooth and flat like a mirror in the next moment!
It calmed down to the point where there wasn't a single ripple on its surface!
Everything returned to normal.
As if, nothing had happened at all!
What happened here caused the entire Nine Heavens to rile up!
Everybody in the Nine Heavens saw that giant word that stretched across the sky at the same time. "Come!"
"Come? Where?"
"Come?"
Everyone was looking up at the sky neatly.
Chu Feiling and Yang Ruolan were both very exhausted. They felt as if their legs were filled with lead at their current strength.
They were still one thousand two hundred and fifty kilometers away from the Heavenly Sword Peak.
Right at this moment, flashes flickered across the sky hysterically as they witnessed the word that descended from the sky and onto the ground at the same time –"Come!"
"What's happening?" This word shook them so much in this instant that they collapsed onto the ground at the same time, and they had no strength left.
"This word seems to come from the Heavenly Sword Peak's direction!" Chu Feiling focused on the giant word and said gravely.
"What?" Yang Ruolan immediately got to her feet. "Did something happen at the Heavenly Sword Peak…"
"We have to hurry!"
They got to their feet at the same time.
They couldn't be bothered about their reputation because of their families and chivalry, and they ran for a distance before they came across a caravan, and they just snatched two horses and galloped away.
The nine great families in the Higher Three Heavens became deeply worried.

There was an elderly man with silver-white beard and hair who was looking at this row of words, and he seemed to feel the dominating and weaving sword qi that came from the person who wrote the book, and he began to read out those words softly and with a respectful look on his face.

The man opened his mouth answering Mike's question; "Baganga." 
(I see... Geh, where the fuck is that!?) Annoyed by Mike as quickly write a response. 
=Baganga?= 
"Baganga." However, the man just repeated his words. 
(Like hell I could understand that!) what Mike wanted to say upfront but he's exhausted and doesn't want to raise a flag right now. 
Giving up about his location Mike give a sigh of annoyance and continued to ask more. 
But the man interrupted his writing and spoke. 
"Now it's my time to asks you a question. What are you?" 
What he is pertaining to when he asks what is Mike, he really means that. 
(That high-speed regeneration... if he isn't a monster then what he is actually?) The man is taking this question seriously as he wanted to know. The reason behind why is either he wants to gain this ability or just through curiosity, either way, Mike got no choice but to answer his question.

Interrupting the man's word as revenge on what he did earlier Mike spoke surprising the man. 
"Ocean." He barely said the word ocean without stumbling his tongue but he managed at the end since he only said a single word. 
With one word the man got interrupted. 
Taking the chance Mike writes what he meant when he said 'Ocean.' 
=Under the bottom of the ocean for years.= He tells where has been for years. 
He wrote again continuing to take the silence that the man is giving.
=Last surface I see, 2019.= 'Last surface that I saw is from 2019' what Mike is pertaining. He makes sure his words are short and understandable.

His left-hand turns pale as it reddens because of the blood and slowly turns into dark grey. Mike notice the materialization as he saw a little bit of weird substance leak from his left hand's skin and cover his whole left hand. 
Slowly his pale left-hand turn back alive as his nail was replaced with sharp dark gray nails. 
He felt that his muscle in his hand is moving arranging to make the owner feel comfortable. 
For the first time, Mike saw the transformation and felt amazed. Not only him but even the man. 
The process is complicated as Mike felt something more happened inside but he can't define it through words alone.

"If your words are true then how in the world did you survive?" There are many unknown factors to Mike's survival that even he cannot understand. What Mike had said is true but there are other different ways to acquire that ability without taking a dive towards the deep ocean. 
Right now Mike's hair reaches his hip as his hair turns back to its normal state like when he's in the ocean. His regeneration is truly unbelievable to one's eye. 
Mike writes his answer calmy as he didn't bother the big stake the same size as his head that in his front. 
=Evoltution.= One word was enough to explain how he survives. 
He didn't know if the man could understand what he said but he has a little hunch that the term speed-up evolution has been opened to the public. After seeing the man's action he knows that everyone has gotten affected by this phenomenon.

The man finally showed one of his emotions, but unfortunately its anger. Anger about something as Mike is the one getting hit from his wrath. 
Being confused, Mike decided to throw a different answer to his wrath. 
Retracting the weaponized hand and his view of dazzling stars Mike said through his mouth; 
"I had to." with a serious composed tone. 
The man was taken aback but before he could speak a word Mike fell to the ground with a thud. 
He indeed regranted but there's a catch. His energy was already depleted as his blood barely circulates through his body. 
Mike reaches his limit as his body went into power saving mode forcing Mike to shut down temporarily. 
The man tried waking up Mike but it was in vain. 
Having no choice because he didn't manage to gather some answers from Mike he carries him towards his home. 
As he carries him the sun already shining from the sky as morning comes by with a bird chirping from the trees. 
A really 'good morning' atmosphere but for some reason, the man didn't feel any good morning from his face.
