Three black werecat orphan brothers are trying their best to find a home when they are finally adopted. Everything goes great with their new family until tragedy strikes and they are left with an unexpected guardian.

This story is about an average high school boy with an average lifestyle who likes to read novels especially fantasy ones and was transferred to another world along with his classmates from his school.

As they were transferred our protagonist, John Kaiser, was the sole student among his classmates who were left behind, leaving him all alone in their classroom.

As he was wondering what happened to the others, he remembered one of the novels he had read. It was a story of a fantasy world, where a king of a human kingdom summons heroes from another world to save their world from the demon king, a typical Isekai (Another World)  fantasy novel.

Our protagonist, John Kaiser, started to contemplate and question 'why?' why was he the only one not summoned?

And as his questions go crazy, a light emerges from the place where he was sitting.

Is this the start of our protagonist's fantasy adventure as a hero? Or will he live the same life again as an average person even in another world?

First thing I want to say is that English is not my first language, so the story will have its spelling and grammatical errors, so if you are a person who takes a lot of importance to that fact I recommend you not to read it.

Transmigrating into the body of another person is certainly an amazing experience for lack of a better word, but that it is in the body of Spider-Man's most hated enemy is something that certainly eclipses the above.

Well that is what happened to a not so common man who was a follower of Marvel now what destiny has in store for him or rather what path he will choose.

Will he take the same path as the Original Green Goblin or will he create a totally different path.

The word or concept of transmigration is somewhat common to some and completely unknown to others. For some people it could be an opportunity they would not pass up.

One not so common person has that opportunity and ended up in a completely unknown Marvel universe, however, when he woke up, he was not in the body of one of the heroes he knew or even a random person.

He transmigrated into the body of one of Spider-Man’s enemies, Norman Osborn the Green Goblin.

Will he become a hero who fights for good or will he be a villain who seeks to conquer everything in his path, or will he walk in a fine line between the two, not a villain but no a hero either?

His story in Marvel is just about to begin.

"One down. Next." Tayaw started typing again.  
Tayaw's next target is the singer slash actor 26-year-old Nathan Barnes. Nathan Barnes is not the best actor around but because of his good looks, he has a lot of fans and is generally very marketable. Tayaw is confused as to why Nathan is still as popular and would be still in the future despite the numerous instances of his bad behavior towards his fans.  
Nathan also rubbed Tayaw the wrong way in his previous life. Nathan was not that great a singer and never wrote a single song, but whenever he puts out a new single, it becomes a hit despite the subpar music. Now that Tayaw has the eyes of a film maker, his dislike of Nathan deepened after seeing Nathan's poor acting skills.  
Nathan also currently has an incredible following of 3.9 million followers on Twitter. This number tempted Tayaw's hands like how a Samoyed's fur would to a dog lover.
Taya quickly looked up the first movie scene of Nathan he could find in YouTube, copied the link and tagged Nathan on Twitter with a post.

"CUT! Alright, see you tomorrow Nathan." A film director said in relief. It took 14 shots for Nathan to get his lines right. 
"Thanks. I'll see you then." Nathan said as he went back to his trailer.  
Nathan's manager handed him his phone with a complicated expression. 
"What? Something happened?" Nathan asked noticing. 
"Nothing. Someone posted something about you on Twitter." The manager said.
"Ugh… another hater. Don't these people have something better to do?" Nathan said as he unlocked his phone.  
A few seconds later, "Kinderacting?!" Nathan was dumbfounded at Tayaw's insult. 
"F*ck, I know I'm not the best actor, but kindergarten acting? Isn't that too much?!" Nathan knows that he is only marketable because of his looks and he has always felt inferior about his acting.  
"Hey, how do I reply?" Nathan asked his manager. 
"Hmmmm… just call him cruel or something. I'm not sure." The manager replied. 
Both Nathan and his manager know about Nathan's subpar acting so they both did not bother addressing directly at Tayaw's jab.

"How the f*ck is that my fault?!" Nathan exclaimed. He is now feeling wronged. 
"I know I'm a sell-out, but what am I supposed to do? Not take the money? Who the f*ck is this asshole?" Nathan said through gritted teeth.
He knows that Tayaw is right however. He became a star at the tender age of 17 and since then, he never ran out of acting roles. He is also very aware that there are better actors than him and it gave him fear to compete with them.  With that fear, he did not hesitate to take the roles he was offered and made money to make his and his family's lives better.
"Relax. You gave opportunities to good actors, which is a good thing. Don't take this joker seriously. Give me your phone before you post something stupid." The manager consoled Nathan.  
Nathan, to neutralize his guilt of indirectly taking away jobs from more deserving actors, has helped some obscure actors to land auditions they otherwise would not have the opportunity of participating in.

He was only supposed to criticize Nathan's acting skills but Nathan's use of the word 'cruelty' triggered him out of nowhere.
The frustration he felt in his previous life when he and the Percussive Corrections were not recognized despite being better musicians than most of the famous acts came flooding back to him; and Cruelty was the exact word Tayaw used often in his past life to describe the situation they were in.  
While Tayaw knows that Nathan is barely at fault at how the movie industry is, he does not want to back down from his last post.

"Elder Yi, you are joking, right? There is no way I would come back there again. They already undermined me and betrayed me a couple of times. I am sure they won't think twice to do it again! Since I became an elder of Jade Palace thanks to you, I will devote myself for Jade Palace pledge my loyalty to Jade Palace and die for Jade Palace if necessary!" Zhu Yuwei said boldly.
Everyone who heard her words was astonished for a second, they never expected Zhu Yuwei to be this resolved and loyal. 
Yi Tianyun, however, was a little embarrassed to have questioned Zhu Yuwei's choice when he himself was the one who gave her the elder position for Jade Palace.
"If you say so, then Jade Palace would give you the support you needed. I assure you that no one will betray you in this sect as long as I can help it." Yi Tianyun said solemnly. He knows that Zhu Yuwei had the talent to become a great cultivator in the future. Zhu Yuwei just smiled meaningfully after hearing Yi Tianyun's word.

Immediately, Shi Xueyun took out every treasure that she and Yi Tianyun found on the Profound Azure Mansion HQ and distributed it to the elders of Jade Palace. The Elders were surprised when they noticed that the treasure they brought back were rare and valuable. 
"This much treasure and all of them are absolutely magnificent in terms of quality as well. So many Earth Level Martial Arts too, we even got High-Grade Spirit Tools and Soul Tools! This is unbelievable, Lord Shi!" one of the elders said enthusiastically.

"Go back? Do we need to go back? Why don't we just stay here and fix this place to accommodate us and use it as our new HQ?" Yi Tianyun said seriously. Everyone became speechless after hearing Yi Tianyun's suggestion, there was shock on several elder's faces and contemplating look on another. 
"I know that we have many good memories in that place and thus have a hard time to abandon it. But if we look from another perspective, this place has a greater spirit reserve and better defensive capabilities. That way, the disciple can cultivate without worry, but this is just my opinion. In the end, if majorities decided to go back, that is fine too. We can use this place as the cultivation base if that is the case." Yi Tianyun said, proposing his idea.
All the elders became hesitant, they didn't know what to do. There is truth in Yi Tianyun's word, they knew that this place is so much better than the previous HQ, but on the other hand, they can't abandon the memories of the ancestor that easily.

In the following day, the Heaven Immersing Ancient Ruins sounded more lively than usual, many elders were busy to plan this relocation. Zhu Yuwei began buying and bringing things they need to make the place suitable for becoming an HQ.
Yi Tianyun left on his own with nothing to do. Sure, he could cultivate while things are proceeding smoothly, but however, the amount of exp he could get was too little for his liking.

As they died, so too did the last of Ermos' hopes. He had no more pain left to feel after the disaster of the closed cave, and so, he almost laughed. It was too ridiculous, too cruel.
"Well, at least it's not raining," he said, chuckling to himself.
And then rain it did. The first fat droplet of the summer storms, it landed right upon Ermos' head, and then an army of others followed straight after it. Within seconds, they were completely drenched. Then, Ermos did cry, for the rain could hide his tears. But as he cried, he began to laugh, for tears could not express enough what he felt.
Thunder cracked above and Fingers howled at the sky, joining his master in his battle against the very gods themselves. Like mad men, they laughed and howled, acknowledging the jokes that had been played upon them.
"No more money for food, Fingers," Ermos said with a grin. It had been a while since he'd gone hungry.
Fingers barked, as if to say, "I'll get some for you, master!"
"I suppose we better head back, before we die to the cold," Ermos said, "that would be grim, wouldn't it? To go undefeated all my life with so few to know of it, only to die of a cold."
Fingers barked his response.
"Sixty something silver, wasn't it?" Ermos said, remembering back. "It's not much… but it's more than I have now. We'll try it, shall we Fingers? It can't be too bad, right?"
Fingers returned to his true form, knowing that his master was in want of a ride. The rain was only getting heavier. Lightning flashed across the sky and a few seconds later, another boom of thunder followed it.
Out of the forest they went, away from the danger. With luck so poor, it seemed well within their cards that they would get struck by lightning, and so they made it to the open plains with an urgency.
From where they were, the lights of the small farmsteads looked so warm and tempting. A quiet and easy life. Ermos wondered if he could be satisfied with that, rather than a grand fortune, with a swords school and a mansion. He wasn't so sure he could be.
They raced back towards Redrun. Even those diligent guards were not too keen on the rain. Instead of standing outside of the gate as they were meant to, they cowered just by it, using the roofs of the nearby shacks as a shelter. Ermos and Fingers raced right past them, not even bothering to change their form. In the dark of that night and with the blur of the rain, they quickly vanished.
"Did you see that?" One of the guards gasped.
"If another word comes out of your whore mouth, I'll break both your legs and fuck you with them," came the irritable reply of his companion.
Along the walls they went, as silently as assassins, sticking to the shadows, avoiding the light cast by the torch-bearing guards. It did not take them long to make it back to the Earl's keep.
This time, as they opened those grand doors and stepped out onto that perfectly clean rug, Fingers was not left behind. Both man and beast made their entrance, as rugged as the wild, thoroughly drenched from head to toe, water dripping from their clothes with each step that they took.
The dinner guests were on their feet now, with evening cloaks over their shoulders, their faces tired and the table clear. They were very well done by now. Everyone was in the middle of saying their goodbyes.
It was the Earl that noticed them first. "Managed to find the bathroom, did you?" He remarked, his words slurred from the drink that he'd put down him.
"You… came back?" Mane said, apparently surprised. "I would not have blamed you if you didn't. That post is far below you."
"I'll take it," Ermos declared, looking not towards the Earl as he said that, but towards Pash. A big smile lit up his apprentice's face and he nodded his head in appreciation.
"That rug that you sully is worth more than your-" Belamor began, wagging his finger with each word that he spoke, but the Earl quickly cut him off.
"Will you now?" He said with a raised eyebrow. "Well, aye, the deal still stands. Just because you and your dog have fallen down the toilet does not mean that I'd cast away my word now. I warn you, it's cold upon those city walls. Especially with the rains coming in. Are you sure you can hack it, Ermos Windbreaker?"
"You should not mock him as such," Mane cautioned, "it'll come back to bite you, Rorin. You should honour the man with a better position."
The Earl dipped back to the table, pouring himself yet another drink. He gulped it all down in but a single swig and a broad smile leapt to his face as he did so. "Here's what I'll do," he chortled, "I'll honour him with this: a position for your dog as well! Hohohoh! It'll likely put in a better shift than him. How about it? The same pay for both the man and his dog?"
"You go to far-" Mane began.
"I'll take it," Ermos said immediately. "A pay for both me and Fingers. But you better stay true to your other word as well, Earl-guy. You better be giving us promotions as well for the work we do, that was the deal you spoke on."
The Earl shrugged. "You can have it. Demonstrate that immeasurable talent that Mane speaks of, and I'll award you with the position. Till then, be content as a chevalar guardsman," he took a brief glance around the room, looking upon each member of their dining table, from Ermos down to the last of the students, and then he swept his cloak around him and he left for the door. "I've said enough on this. Good night to the guests! I have a woman to go and warm!"
He didn't turn back once. Straight out of the doors he went. Belamor made his exit a moment later. "Well then," he said with a stiff bow, "good evening." The doors clicked quietly closed behind him.
"Father has forgotten all about us again," the princess complained, nudging her little brother awake as he slept face down on the table. She had a sweet smile to offer the whole party, even so late on a night.
"Mm?" Her little brother murmured in confusion as he blinked his eyes awake.
"Come now, to bed," she said, grasping hold of his hand and helping him out of his seat.
"Please forgive my father for not properly dismissing you," she said, bowing towards them. "You might find it difficult to tell, but this is the most fun I've seen him have in a while. Thank you very much for your attendance. The deals and promises made will no doubt be seen to on the morrow, but for now, I invite you to return to your rooms and I bid you all the very best of nights."
"Let's get going, master," Pash said, taking a good look at the state of both Ermos and Fingers. He struggled to hide his smile.
"Yup. I'm cold," Ermos said.
"Good night," Pash said to the princess as they passed her for the door.
"Good night," the princess agreed, a light blush on her cheeks.

A peculiar case of bad luck followed him around for a while. He would demonstrate his strength whenever he got the chance, but there was never anyone around to witness it.
That was, until he met Pash. In a village southeast of the Untamed Forest, a grimy boy was wandering through houses abandoned by war, searching for food to fill his belly. It happens that was very same village the infamous Bored Bandits had set up camp in. They seize the boy with the intent of selling him as a slave.

Ermos wanders by with much the same intent as Pash – that of searching the abandoned houses for food and wealth – and he too attracts the attention of the bandit crew. He manages to defeat them with the same accidental ease that he had won all his duels in. Seeing such strength, Pash begs that he take him on as his apprentice.

Not entirely understanding the responsibility of a master’s position, Ermos agrees. The two of them spend three years questing for their fortunes, but cursed with Ermos’ notoriously bad luck, nothing ever comes of it. Ermos turns to gambling – being the fool that he is – to try and reverse his fortunes, only to land himself in a terrible amount of debt.

The weight of that debt finally gets to him, and he loses the enthusiasm he once had, working himself into a rut. That is, until, he meets a drunk trader on the road who offers him ‘magic stones’ in return for his horse. Of course, Ermos accepts, not realizing that he is being fooled. But as fortune would have it, a scam points him in the right direction and he explores the ancient ruins of the Stone Tree.

Raztol was furious! Raztol was sad… Raztol was torn and speechless. What could he say now, thousands of years after the incident to a fully grown hydra who experienced this?
'I… I…'
'Mom…'
Everyone was caught off guard when they spotted Lina now at Lunara's side, wrapping her arms around one of Lunara's heads. 
'Thank you… Linala…' Lunara mumbled through her struggling throat. 
Hearing that, Lina took the opportunity to enter her full hydra form and better embrace her trembling mom. She hated to see her mother like this and felt even worse learning what had happened to the grandma that she had never met.
While Lina and Lunara wrapped their combined eighteen heads together in comfort, Raztol was further forced into shock. His lip quivered. 'She… She's also… Linala…' From that moment on, Raztol refused to say another word. Not to the loving mother and daughter nor in response or interruption of the story.
Jack was also taken aback. He had recently learned that Lunara's early years were difficult, but he had no clue about any specifics. But this… He never would've anticipated such a story.
Eventually, Lunara regathered her breath and composure with Lina's help. She continued, 'When I finally returned home… I did my best to nurse her. I stole some herbs from a nearby garden and managed to escape my pursuers. But I failed to help her… It was already too late… All I did was drag out her misery…
'But Mother never frowned. She never cursed her fellow hydras. Not even in her last words… 'He'll make things better'... 'He'll make things better'... All she could talk about was the father I never had… For some reason, she had always clung to some belief in him… saying, 'He'll make things better'... Those were her final words… I couldn't do anything for her and she did everything for me, yet she held to her belief in my terrible father till she passed…'
Lunara was trembling once again but not as bad as before thanks to Lina. Jack had also crossed the table and leaned against his mother.
No one said another word. They all held their places in wait for the moment to pass on its own.
After quite some time, it was Jack the eventually broke the silence. Given that Lina had already shown her true self, Jack didn't hold back calling Lunara properly. 'Mom… I'm sorry for making you relive that…'
'It's okay… Son… I think… it was good for me. I feel much lighter… like a heavy burden was lifted from my heart…' remarked Lunara, glad to have Jack and Lunara holding her close. 'Regardless of what occurred in the past, I'm proud of what I have now. You two and your father are everything to me. I cut all ties to my people ages ago, and now… I can confidently admit that without regret.'
'T-that… I… T-thank you… Lunara…'
'Head Raztol, there's no need to cry so much…' sighed Lunara. 'I'm proud of who I am now and the children I have. I wouldn't have my family now if that had never happened. I would never wish such a miserable fate on my mother… but I will never forsake my family now. So regardless of my origins here in Glacier Reef, know that I don't plan to stay here any longer than necessary.'
'I see… And I fully understand now…' Raztol shook his head, releasing a long breath in the meantime. 'No matter what it takes… I'll make sure you aren't bothered by anyone anymore. You have my promise as the hydra head.'
'And you have mine as your son, though you can easily handle yourself now,' chuckled Jack, trying to lessen the tension in the room.
Lunara smiled and chuckled, 'Yeah… I'm sure we'll be fine.'
'Then… If Jack is your Son… is he…'
'No, I'm not a hydra,' stated Jack. 'Sorry to disappoint you, Raztol. There are no more hydra gods you can beg to take your place.'
'Jack!'
'It's fine, Lunara…' Raztol chuckled also, but grievance still weighed down his voice. 'So… I take it that you're all gods?'
'Not yet. Lina's still too young, but she insisted on seeing Glacier Reef and Glacier Keep,' answered Jack. 'We only agreed because we can teleport her back whenever.'
'And… What about the others?'
'Like we mentioned earlier, I doubt they'll immediately cause the reef any trouble. So long as you don't pester or annoy them, I think Mom and I can convince them to peacefully enter Galcier Keep.'
'I see…' The hydra head's voice was still strained. Clearly, he was struggling to get the story out of his mind. 'Lunara… I don't want to bring back any more harsh feelings… but do you remember the name of that elder, the one that hit you?'
Frowning, Lunara shook her head. 'Sorry… I just remember seeing the headband and begging for help.'
'That's… okay… I wanted to seek him out if possible…'
'He may not even be alive anymore,' argued Lunara, trying to change the subject to something more lighthearted. 'Are you sure you'll be able to convince the others to cooperate?'
'I can… Whether it's with words or force, that I can't promise just yet…' utter Ratzol, admitting to the difficulty of the task. 'But rest assured that everything will be fine.'
'Quick question, Raztol. You said you had fought Flood Dragons outside of the trench and decided to explore the world. But why were you so far beyond the trench in the first place?' asked Jack.
Shaking his head and trying his best to smile, Raztol stated, 'I was the elder in charge of the hunting grounds. It was my responsibility to find new prey before there was a shortage. Because of that, I spent most of my time outside of the trenches anyway, making me into the strongest one-headed hydra without question and convincing me to explore the reaches of the sea… That's all.'
Before Jack could nod with another question, Raztol stood up and sighed, 'Thank you for… sharing something so personal. Allow me to take my leave first. I must begin preparations for the new policy, otherwise, the Body Council may force unneeded tension onto my people.'
As the old hydra went to exit, the same three-headed hydra from earlier opened the door and followed alongside Raztol.
'Jakeek…' Halfway down the hall, Raztol muttered, 'I've forgotten something in my chamber… Go ahead to the study, I'll be there soon.'
'Please, Head Raztol, allow me--'
'No. I must go get it alone. But thank you for the offer.'
Without another word, Raztol turned and left at a strange pace. It wasn't fast enough to be a jog nor slow enough to be a walk. The hydra's steps were as jostled as his mind was. Upon entry to his chamber, Raztol immediately closed the door and fell to his knees in solitude.
'Lin… Linala… I'm so sorry…'

"Bowzer, we'll stop here for the night."

"But I can keep going!" Bowzer insisted. 'Don't we need to--"

"Bowzer, we'll need our rest before we reach the Fissured Mountains. You've never been there, so I'll tell you about my past experiences there."

"Hey, Jack, how come you've been everywhere but you're so low-leveled? Is it because you were an ancient hero before?" Bowzer tilted his head, anxious for an answer.

"Yeah, that's why. I thought you knew that already?"

"I do. But weren't you also really high-leveled back then? Why aren't you that high-leveled like before?"

Jack pondered the question for a moment till he smiled. "I don't know."

"So how are things going for you? It seems you are enjoying the literature." Elder Azelle redirected the conversation. He truly knew nothing more than what he had told her. Many of the elders through history have attempted to unravel the secrets proposed by The Ancestor, but it has always been fruitless. 

"Well, I don't know if 'enjoying' is the word I would use." A scowl appeared on her lips as she stared daggers at the books on the table. Although she was absorbed into them, it seemed like every other page she ran into trouble understanding the contents. 

Elder Azelle laughed not at all unfamiliar with the struggle. Even Liter and himself have experienced difficulties with the books in this section.

"Just learn what you can Adria, if you get stuck simply move on and come back to it later." He rubbed his chin thinking. "You have plenty of time so there's no rush-"

"Oh! That reminds me, do you know an ancestor named Eephie?" Adria's eyes suddenly flashed with an intensity as she asked a question which has been lingering on her mind for a while now. Even the elder was a bit shocked. What was she talking about?

Adria brought the small book she had found to the elder, handing it over carefully. She had no idea how old the book was, but it has taken a spot of incomparable importance in her mind. Without realizing it, it had become incredibly valuable to her. 

Elder Azelle took the book from her. Her attitude towards it did not go unnoticed. Gently, he ran his hand over the cover. There was no title inscribed onto the front or spine of the book. Even the back of the book was blank and completely smooth. 

The longer Elder Azelle inspected it, the more shocked he became. He and Liter had gone through this room innumerable times reading everything inside. But this was the first time he had seen this book. He was sure that they had never come across it before. 

When he opened the book, his eyes scanned across the words at lightning speed. Reading through every word that was written in just a few minutes. Finally, he came to the last page, and in the bottom corner he saw the signature. 

"Eephie" 

The elder closed his eyes, letting everything he saw settle into his ocean of thoughts. For some reason, he  felt unsettled but he couldn't discern why. 

"I don't recall any Eephie in the notable records of the past." He told Adria, who was looking expectantly up towards him. For some reason this Eephie had left an incredible impression onto her, and she was eager to know more about this person. 

"However, next time you see Liter he should know at least something about them." He thought for a moment, handing the book back to Adria. "Presumably she was another child like you who headed to the desolate world above…"

"Mm. Understood." Adria nodded her head, Liter would most certainly know. 

"How about you stay for the next few days and finish what you are working on? It seems like you have made really good progress, and you should try and keep the momentum you have."

"Of course Elder, once I finish with these I will head out for a bit to stretch my legs. Can you send Liter in the next time you see him? I want to ask him about Eephie."

"Mm. Of course. Well, I must go. I just wanted to check in on you." The elder smiled and made to leave. For a moment the elders demeanor had slipped up when he thought about Liter. Adria didn't understand why but she felt something was wrong.

Before she could ask though, the elder stepped out of the door and the light flashed signaling that he left the domain The Ancestor had set in place. Adria considered going after him but decided not to. She had more to study, and if there was something on the elders mind, she was confident he would tell her when he was ready. 

She went back to the table and buried her head into the books. After a moment her ears popped, and she felt a throb in her temples. 

"Hmm?" She looked up and rubbed her ears. "That was odd." She just shook her head and went back to reading.

Outside of the room, Elder Azelle had his hands against the door. The barrier surrounding the space was glowing bright blue. 

"Adria… I'm sorry. But I will be back." After debating with himself for a while, he chose to seal Adria in the room. Inside she would be safe, and presumably the barrier would keep any sickness out if she wasn't already exposed. 

Finally, he turned around. His shoulders sagged under the invisible weight on them. 

"That book… Liter… where are you? Is there some connection? Eephie…"

The next 24 hours passed uneventfully. At the warehouse everyone was focused on channeling into the attunement energy which pervaded the space. Many of the volunteers relaxed their vigilance. Almost everyone inside was feeling better. Honestly, none of them had even realized that they weren't feeling their best until they had focused on healing. That realization alone scared most of them into a pattern of absorbing and processing the energy around them. 

Pride was the only one who kept a close eye on everything that occurred. But he too was beginning to doubt himself. It wasn't too hard to believe that he was overreacting. However, when he thought back to what had become of Toby, he chose not to relax his vigilance. No matter what, it was better to be prepared. 

"Pride, come on man. Just take a break for a bit, this is a good chance to work on our affinities." 

"Yeah, we all know the risks, but with all of us here… even if someone were to lose it like Tobias, we would be able to handle it."

Pride didn't bother to respond. He knew that no matter what they were told, they had not seen Toby for themselves. They wouldn't understand. He barely could accept it and he was there. Even with the alcohol, his mood remained at an all time low. The only thing that would make him feel better at this point would be if everyone got better and they all treated him to a pint.

Another night passed. 

The elders outside had established a decent camp in front of the warehouse. They didn't know how long they would be there for, or what they were looking for to consider the people inside as healthy. Many of them felt that they were just waiting for something to happen. The unknown unnerved them and kept many of them on edge. 

There was a small commotion near the other citizens who had set up nearby. Elder Azelle and Trisha could be seen making their way towards the warehouses from down the road. 

Elder Azelle waved to them. "Has there been any word from Pride yet?" He spoke to everyone present, not just the other elders.

The elders merely shook their heads. It has been entirely uneventful. 

"Elder Azelle, what is it that we are looking for exactly? How will we know when they're better?"

The friends and family who had decided to stick around were also paying close attention. They were looking for anything that might provide them some comfort. 

"After a few more days I will go inside and check on the sick and the volunteers who went in with them. If the damage to their souls looks like it has reversed… that will be the only defining condition we can test them on." 

Trisha spoke out, offering explanations to the family and friends of the sick. Other than her, they were hard pressed to come up with any other way to identify the disease. The cough in and of itself was not a reliable enough factor.

While Trisha talked with the elders and the family Elder Azelle walked to the doors of the warehouse. From the outside it seemed completely innocuous, if it weren't for the link of Common Heritage they all shared this warehouse would seem just like the others. 

"Pride." Elder Azelle reached out to talk first. Although there has been no word yet, it never hurt to check.

"Yes elder, I'm here." Pride was still standing close to the door, so he remained where he was. 

"How are things inside?"

"Everything seems to be going fine. All of the sick are focusing on processing the massive amounts of energy in the building. No one is slacking. Even the coughs have ceased completely, however I can't say whether or not that is because of the soup covering it up or them actually getting better."

"Hmm. What do you think it is?" Elder Azelle was not inside, so he could only trust Pride's view on the matter. Pride thought for a moment. Looking at the room, at all the sick. They truly seemed to be getting better, but…

"I still feel uncomfortable."

Elder Azelle just sighed in response. Although this wasn't conclusive evidence by any means, Elder Azelle still understood the importance of it. 

"Alright Pride, we will give it another day before Trisha goes in to check on them. By then… we should know." The elder turned and walked back towards Trisha and the rest. All they could do now... was wait.

The first regular season game was the following week and it was at home. There was a completely different vibe of excitement in the air and Killian's intensity doubled. I somehow resisted the urge to throttle him the day of the game. I tried to understand, but couldn't help feeling I would be better off at my apartment while he did his intense indifference to me being with him thing. The Scorpions won, and Killian's after-game sex almost made up for my trampled feelings.
During the week, I immersed myself in classes, homework, and Wednesday night waitressing. Somehow, the media got wind that I worked at Tillomans and my boring weekday life became social media fodder. My manager didn't mind, but I found it difficult to field questions from sports reporters and do my job.
Campus life wasn't much better. Students pointed me out and brave ones asked me about my relationship with Killian.
"Is it true?"
"What's he like in bed?"
"What did you do to rope him in?"
Were only a few of the questions I dodged. The guys didn't approach me, but their assessing gazes made every step I took a challenge. Falling on my face was a real possibility because of the stress I felt. 
"Sorry, babe, it goes hand in hand with my life. Quit your job and stay here Wednesday nights," Killian said when I told him about work.
 "I need the money, Killian." I rolled over and placed my finger against his lips. "Don't say it."
He bit my finger and didn't let it go.
"No, Killian."
He rolled and had me beneath him, raising my hands above my head. "I hate when you tell me no."
I couldn't help laughing. "You hate for anyone to tell you no."
"It's not something I hear often, but with you it's especially irritating."
"Get used to it."
"Hmm." He tickled me until I begged him to stop.
I didn't quit my job.
The second week of regular season was another home game, which they won. The Scorpions hit the road for their next game. I couldn't go because I needed to complete a research project. Killian gave in grudgingly. We'd never discussed him hooking up with another woman after an away game and it ate at me during the weekend. He called Saturday night, sounding lonely, which made me feel better.
I didn't hear from him again until Sunday after his game. We talked for more than an hour. I slept that night knowing Killian missed me and was flying in late to sleep alone in his bed that night. I didn't discuss my insecurities with him. I knew he wouldn't like my thinking.
The following week the team had a Monday night game, and then the Scorpions had a bye week. If I thought the excitement in the stadium amped up when regular season started, it was nothing compared to Monday night. By now, I'd ordered and read a copy of Football for Dummies, and didn't need Malory to give me a play-by-play anymore. When Killian's teammates came over to his house, I kept up with conversations, though I didn't impart any wisdom on the subject.
I still wasn't accustomed to the minor injuries Killian suffered, but I learned to keep my feelings to myself and kiss him all better.
The Monday night game started well, but progressively turned sour. By the end of the first half, the Scorpions were down by a touchdown, and I was getting nervous. Fights broke out in the second half and the Scorps lost by ten. To top it off, Killian threw two interceptions.
"Good luck," Malory whispered to me before we went to the locker room.
Killian had promised to get me home before my Tuesday morning class, and without a word, he drove me to my apartment. I knew he was disappointed and angry, but his refusal to verbalize his feelings pissed me off. I didn't wait for him to come around and open my door. I heard him following me to my door. He took the key out of my hand and opened it, still without a word.
"Killian, just go home," I said when he closed the door behind us.
His fingers sank into my hair and his lips came down. If he wanted to punish me for his loss, the kiss did just that. Without really knowing what happened, I was on my knees while Killian unzipped his pants. He fucked my mouth, carried me to my bed, kissed my cheek and left.
I cried for an hour.
He didn't call Tuesday night, and I fell asleep against my wet pillow. Killian MacGregor was an ass.
Wednesday I arrived at work and started my shift with a heavy heart.
Sabrina walked up to me, "Sorry, honey, but it looks like your ex-boyfriend is here."
My ex? What the hell? Why would she think that?
I turned and Killian was holding out a chair for a woman; all I could see was the back of her long brown hair.
Sabrina continued, "He specifically asked for one of your tables and there was nothing I could do. In my opinion, the woman is too old for him, but not my problem."
My heart was lost somewhere in my lower stomach. I really thought I was going to be sick. I squared my back, didn't say a word to Sabrina, and walked over to confront Killian. I would probably lose my job, but I was past caring. The son of a bitch didn't speak to me for two days after a blow job, and then showed up with another woman where I worked. I planned to leave his body with more than a few bruises.
Killian saw me walking toward him and stood. His lip quirked slightly, but his dimples barely showed. He was nervous. He damn well should be. His hand came out, but I ignored it. I only needed to be close enough to damage his face, and then I was leaving.
"Mom, I'd like you to meet Rebecca."
Startled, I turned to Killian's-date. Her smile was her son's smile, though other than her lips and dimples, they looked nothing alike. She was beautiful, appeared years younger than she had to be, and I was going to murder Killian MacGregor.
"Hi, dear. Please call me Beth. Killian has told me so much about you."
I shook her hand, turned slightly, and gave Killian my best killing glare and calmly asked if I could get them an appetizer.
 Confusion showed clearly on Beth's face.
"Sorry, Mom, but Rebecca just survived her first losing game and I owe her an apology."
"Oh, well then, I understand. I need to find the ladies' room and that will give the two of you a chance to talk." She gave me a hesitant smile and walked away.
