Evan's POV

Class just started an half an hour later. We didn't start on our lessons since its just the first day, so its orientation at the moment. I'm kind of annoyed by this. I mean I understand that this orientation is targeted to the new students but I don't see the point for me to attend. Also there is only two new students in this class, why must we suffer from the boredom of hearing this again?
I looked to my left and saw Alistair looking down at his phone, scrolling through his Twitter. I looked to my right and saw Jacob's head on his arms on his desk, sleeping with a slight snore. I chuckled and shook my head, I already expected that this would happen. A phone on my left moved forward and I knew that Alistair is taking a picture of Jacob. We both chuckled and we gave each other a fist bump.
"I think he'll look good with a bow, don't you think?" Alistair said.
I looked down at his phone and saw Jacob's sleeping picture on a editing app.
"Give him some makeup, too." I chuckled.
Twenty minutes have passed and we only just reached page ten of our handbooks. I was playing on my phone, Alistair reading a manga, and Jacob still asleep. Miss Crystal, our adviser and research teacher, was still talking while standing up.
When I first stepped into this class I groaned mentally when I saw Miss Crystal sitting on her desk. We had her as our adviser last year so why is she our adviser this year again? I swear she is the most strictest teacher I have ever met. Usually when you have a teacher they are usually a bit strict, but they sometimes adjust our deadlines and help us when we're in trouble with an assignment. Miss Crystal is not like those other teachers. I mean we had a hard time last year that Jacob barely passed her class. Also she never miss a chance to give punishment. It was a nightmare, let me tell you. Now we have to repeat that same nightmare this year, too.
For those who don't know I took up the Arts and Design Track, which I expect it to be easy because I'm aiming to be a filmmaker. Why do we have too many academic subjects than actual art and design? Miss Crystal is far than the artsy type.
The school bell finally rang, meaning it's our first break time of the day. Jacob finally woke up with a huge grin on his face. Everyone started to get up but Miss Crystal called for Jacob.
"You, Mr. Harver." Miss Crystal called out. "I would like you to stay."
Jacob groaned while me and Alistair giggled. It was expected anyways.
"We'll get you something to eat later, dude." I said.
Me and Alistair walked out of the class with Jacob staying put. I turned to Alistair once we were outside.
"I'm not hungry, so I'll probably take a breather." I said.
"Alright, dude." Alistair said. "See you later."
We walked separate ways. I head to the one place I thought that can give me air to breathe and some alone time: the roof.
The roof is probably my favorite place to get some alone time. No one ever comes up there. The roof is actually a bit safe. There is a door that lead to a flat cemented roof with tall railways that are used to avoid accidents. The air is so much cooler, even on summer days. Though this is Baguio, hot days are rare.
I opened the door to the roof and discovered that I am not alone. Leaning on the railway is the boy I bumped into earlier. He was asleep with his head a bit low and his mouth slightly open, not big enough for a fly to come in. He has his guitar laid across on his legs and on top of it was a sketchbook of some kind. I walked towards the boy to see what was on the sketchbook and saw a drawing of an anime, probably an original character since I have never seen this character before, especially since I watched a lot of anime.
The boy must have felt my presence because he slowly stirred up awake. He blinked a few times and looked up at me. His eyes widened and struggled to get up.
"Oh, I'm sorry." I said quickly. "I didn't mean to disturb you or scare you. I just didn't expect to see someone here."
He stopped and calmed down a bit.
"Oh, do you go here for alone time, too?" He asked. "I'm sorry. I'll head back downstairs."
"Oh, no need." I said. "Its just the two of us here anyways, so lets share this spot together."
"Uhm, are you sure?" He asked.
"Yeah, its not problem." I said with a smile.
I sat down beside him and he stared at me for a few seconds before going back to his drawing.
"Nice drawing." I said. "Original character?"
"Thanks, and uh, yeah." he said softly.
"I'm Evan Johannes." I said, reaching out my hand for a handshake.
He looked at my extended hand and slowly reached out for it for a handshake. He quickly pulled away.
"Beaumont." He said. "Beaumont Evergreen, or Beau."
"Huh, cool name."
"Thank you."
He kept drawing and I noticed his guitar bag on his lap.
"Do you play guitar?" I asked.
"No." He said softly.
That's strange.
"Are you a learner?" I asked.
"Something liked that." He said
"Can I borrow it for a bit? I want to see what kind of guitar you have."
He froze and looked at me for a few seconds, probably debating if he should lend it to me. Finally he took out his guitar out of it's bag and handed it to me. I inspected the guitar. Its colored back with a bit of red as outlines. Its a pretty cool design for a guitar, simple yet cool. But I noticed that the D string, or the forth string, is gone.
"Hey," I said, "where's the D string?"
"The what?" He asked.
"It's the forth string of the guitar."
"Oh, it snapped."
"Why not change it?"
"... I don't know."
This boy is a mystery to me. He brought a guitar without knowing anything about playing it, as well as not changing the string. Who does that?
"I have extra guitar strings in my bag." I said. "You can have it. I can put it as well."
"Oh really?" He asked with wide eyes. "You don't have to."
"No, I insist." I said with a smile. "It's just a leftover anyways from the manager of a music store. I have no need for it and it's just one strand."
I pulled out my wire cutters and guitar string from my bag. I noticed that the strings on Beau's guitar is plain colored silver while the spare string I have is red.
"Sorry." I said. "Its red, so it might stand out from the rest. But its suits your guitar though. It's just temporary anyways."
I attached the red string on the D chord. After attaching it I tuned it. One the melody is in perfect harmony I play a short tune. I looked to my side to see Beau looking at me and the guitar back and forth with wide eyes.
"There." I said. "The string stands out but its fine. I'll bring new strings when I have the chance."
"Oh, no need." He said. "Its fine the way it is. Thank you very much."
"Your welcome, Beau." I said with a smile, putting the guitar back in it's bag and handing it to him.
The bell rang, meaning break time is over. I sighed and got up.
"Looks like break time is over." I said. "It was nice meeting you, Beau. I hope to see you again."
I smiled at him and he stares at me.
"Yeah." He said with a small smile. "Nice to meet you, too."
I gave him a thumbs up before leaving the roof.
In my mind I though when would we see each other again, because I want to.

A love story between two boys with dreams and a painful past: One who is carefree and a music lover and the other is an intelligent boy with passion for art but feels trapped in a life determined for him. These two boys started to get along all because of one red guitar string.

In the outskirts of a very isolated village, a boy slept comfortably under the shadow of a tree, his face would sometimes change, with his cheeks getting redder and a sly smile appearing on his mouth, he would then proceed to extend both of his hands with the palms open as if he was touching a round object...
"He... he... Boobs..." He turned to the side and unintentionally hit his head in one of the roots of the nearby tree. "Ouch!"
Opening his eyes, he was about to punch the tree, however, he suddenly stopped and started blinking madly, he tried cleaning his eyes with his hands and looking at the tree once again, then he started spinning around slowly, making sure to catch a glimpse of pretty much every detail.
"This... It can't be... am I having a nightmare!?" The cold breeze reached his back making all of his hair stand on end as the chilling sensation ran across his spine.
However, before he could even give his first step, he suddenly lost control of his body for a moment and fell to the ground, only managing to support himself with his hand at the last moment.
Memories that didn't belong to him, were just copied down into his brain somehow, he could vividly remember the entire life of a boy whose appearance for some reason heavily resembled his, the short brown spiked hair that got orange on the end, the sharp eyes that gave off an unsettling feeling to those who looked at him for too long, the outlined face which woman seemed to consider extremely beautiful ever since those k-pop guys became popular... Which, might he add, wasn't cool since he always wanted to look mainly like Rambo, and other similar action movie actors... if not, he would have been content if he was slightly similar to Jackie Chan.
Shaking his head, he dismissed the thoughts on his appearance and concentrated on the most important and fucked up information he got from those memories, besides being an orphan, the World Martial Arts Tournament... a competition that the true owner of this body apparently went to watch almost two weeks ago, one where he saw what looked like a cartoon character from an old anime his father used to watch...
The first, well, saga of dragon ball series if you consider each version of the anime as a saga on its own.
He bit his lips and held his head, he never felt he would ever say something like this before but... what the heck, why here? of all possible anime verses, why this place?
His body started shaking as memories of the seasons started playing on his head, in the end, he could only curse his luck as he remembered that right from the Saiyan saga of dragon ball z, almost everyone could destroy a planet... or at least, they could do so given enough time.
In any case, he couldn't deal with this, he was just a fucking 14 years old boy, wait... no... based on this body memories he's now one year younger, still, he was just a shy kid before, what the hell was he supposed to do now that he was living in a such a dangerous universe!
In fact, where is he going to live? Where is he going to find food?
As questions such as those and others started appearing on his mind, tears started streaming down his face, as he angrily pushed the ground and regretted it soon after. "Damn it! Why is the common soil so hard in this weird place!? Fuck, it feels as if I had just punched a rock!" He held his hand and started blowing it to relieve the pain.
Hours went by and he had somehow managed to calm down, he repeatedly told himself that it was time to forget his childhood, now that fate forced him, it was time to become a man, to get a job, to touch some tits... Hehe... he started drooling, but his internal self slapped him in the face.
"You idiot! Think of girls later, that shit of yours can't even stand properly yet, find a way to secure a source of food first, then you can think of..." His internal self gulped. "Titties..."
Sumai slapped himself and started cursing his old friend Alex if that bastard hadn't shown him the wonders of adult videos back in the internet class... Well, there's no use complaining about the past right now.
He might be excited about the new possibilities that came with his new life, but he knew how to sort out his priorities, he wouldn't get the best grades in his class if he didn't know how to do even such a simple thing.
Still, he had a big problem, while getting stronger and training was definitely important, he had no way of doing that now, nor he knew how to found the truly powerful people, such as Master Roshi, the green guy On that floating thing, what was he called again, kami?
He couldn't help but sigh, the last time he watched Dragon Ball, it was probably a year ago, 2015, but at that time, he wasn't even watching Z, he was watching the filler 'saga' also known as GT.
He could just vaguely remember important locations and important individuals...
"Heavens, why! Why didn't you warn me that this would happen, at least, I would have watched this anime one more time..." Sighing, he stood up and walked towards the center of the village.
The place wasn't that small for a village in the middle of nowhere, the houses were really humble being mostly built with wood, while the richest villagers built theirs with rocks. The kids could be seen playing around, sometimes they pretended to be martial arts fighters, other times they played with a ball.
The people would go and come from as if they walked without a purpose in life, some were using expensive outfits such as suits while others were dressed as farmers from the 18th century. The village had about five stores, although they weren't really the best business around, with their village being the only thing in sight between two cities, they could still get some profit every now and then every time an outsider passed by.
As he walked towards the old fountain that was built by the founder of the village eons ago, his stomach started howling like a furious beast hungry for blood, it was so scary that he felt like his stomach had gained sentience...
"Danmit, I need some money to buy food..." As he thought about how to acquire some money, he saw an old man sitting alone next to the fountain, he a sad look on his face, a guitar on his left, and a hat filled with nothing on his right.
Seeing that he suddenly had an idea, what if tried using songs as a source of money? He knew so many of them, it shouldn't be difficult, especially so when he was at least better than the average people at singing.
He approached the old man and smiled at him, it was quite creepy, the old man stared at him uncomfortably and wondered if this boy wanted to steal him.
"Mr. would you allow me to play your guitar to see if I can gather some money for myself? Don't worry, I don't plan on using it for free, I'll give you 10% of the money, what do you say?"
The man blinked and stared at Sumai with a blank face. "Wait, what? Did you say you want to borrow my guitar?"
"Yes, that is correct."
The old man scratched his head and frowned for a moment, however, he looked at the hat lying on the ground without a single penny and sighed. "Okay... but if you don't give me the money you promised, I'll beat you, and no one will be able to stop me!"
The old man's voice got slightly louder as he threatened, the boy paid him no attention and was already grabbing the guitar once he heard 'okay'.
After adjusting the guitar for the right configuration, he paused for a moment, and after thinking for a while he decided to animate a little this little town, he was more used to country songs but this should be enough to give him a good start.
He took the guitar and put on the shoulder strap to not let it fall, he jumped on the fountain and sat down where once there was probably a statue, which now sadly is only a pedestal.
Seeing some of the people around who weren't paying him any attention and were just wasting their time, he lifted his hand and shouted. "Hey everyone, how about some fun? I'll sing you some songs, and if you like, you give me the amount of money you think my performance deserves, what do you say?"
A woman wearing an expensive dress looked at him with interest, she never heard that the people from the countryside liked to sing, she was willing to give it a go, but she couldn't speak for the others.
One of the people around the fountain, a sheriff wearing a cowboy hat, spit on the ground and said. "Alright, boy, this is being horrible anyway, since I'm feeling generous today if you sing well, I'll give you a 100 Zeni, but if I don't like what I hear, you won't even get another look from me."
Hearing that the sheriff wanted to hear him singing, the others followed his words and said they wanted to hear as well.
"Very well, but if anything, don't leave just at the beginning, my style might be a little different from what you guys are used to, but I assure you it's good songs."
The small crowd that formed laughed slightly and some shook their head, those were some big words from a kid. If that was what they were thinking, imagine what the old man that looked at him stunned was thinking, heavens, he didn't even have a guitar before, if this kid is trying to scam them, he would be the first to beat him into a pulp.
With his hands adjusted in the right positions, he started moving the plectrum based on his memories, when they heard the beginning everyone frowned, what the hell was that? Why did it sound so... weird?
However, 5 seconds passed, then another 5, and their expressions eased a little. As the sound of the guitar started reaching their ears, they grew increasingly interested in this new style they've never heard before.
It took 28 seconds for the song to really start, but at that point, he knew he already had their attention. Smiling, he let the flow of the song guide him as he closed his eyes and lifted his neck with a pleasurable feeling coursing through his body as the soundwaves passed through him and he opened his mouth. "life is like a road that you travel on when there's one day here and the next day gone. Sometimes you bend, sometimes you stand, sometimes you turn your back to the winds..."
When they heard the first verses, their eyes were all opened wide, the boy wasn't the best singer they had ever heard, and the song felt like something was missing, still, it was their first hearing such a free song...
With each verse they could picture themselves somehow leaving this place and traveling around the world, feeling the wind in their hairs and making the most of every moment.
The more they heard, the more they liked it, the woman who first noticed him couldn't believe her ears, this boy... such a talent!
Approaching the end of the song, everyone started singing the chorus together with him. "Life is a highway! I wanna ride it all night long..."
When he ended, those who really liked it, more or less half of the crowd stood up as they clapped with smiles on their faces, the other people also clapped, but they didn't felt like it was anything special.
The sheriff was shaking his head as he approached the boy. "You know son, I regret having said those words before, this was definitely a good song... here, take it, a 100 as promised." he dropped the money on the hat and left.
In the end, almost 30 people decided to give him some money, he couldn't believe his luck. Still, he didn't know much about prices in this world, the previous owner of this body, apparently just stole some fruits from the farms when he wasn't eating rabbits and other small game.
"Good lord! Look at this, 500 Zeni!" The old man exclaimed as he looked at his hat which was almost bursting from the number of coins and notes inside it.
"And as promised, here, 50 Zeni." Sumai gave him the money and stashed everything else in his pocket.
Seeing all that money vanishing from his eyes, the old man suddenly started sweating, with part of that amount he might finally be able to buy a ticket out of this place... He looked at the happy boy in front of him and gulped, his eyes locked on the guitar, which had his initials carved behind, a gift he got from his daughter...
Sumai was thinking about all the food he would buy, the room he would rent in an inn, and his next steps when he felt the old man tapping his shoulder. "Mm?" He turned to look at him. "Is there anything wrong, sir?"
The old man sighed, and his hand was shaking as he extended the guitar towards the boy. The idea of parting away with the most precious gift he had ever received was painful, it felt like he was letting go of his own daughter. "Boy... please buy it... 250 is all I ask, with this money I can finally go back to my family."
The old man had his head lowered as he pushed the guitar towards Sumai, who looked at him surprised, and he wasn't the only one, in the three years this old man had stayed around the village, not even once he left the guitar alone, so everyone who noticed this wondered, why would he want to sell it now?
Seeing the tears streaming down his face, Sumai gulped, he never saw someone so emotional like him before... After thinking for a moment he smiled and nodded, he would need a guitar anyway, there was no need to think this over.
"Alright, sir. You got yourself a deal."
The woman wearing the expensive dress looked at this scene with some interest as she massaged her chin, it was amusing somehow, seeing the interaction between the two reminded her of how different a person's life could from one place to another, 250 was so little for her, but that old man it meant the world right now.
"Thank you kid, thank you!" He smiled and hugged the boy who stood stiff, barely reacting to the old man's action. The old man then stepped back and cleaned his teary eyes. "Please, take good care of this guitar, it was a precious gift."
"Don't worry I will." Sumai seriously nodded and watched as the old man took his hat and left.
At that moment, he heard someone clapping behind him, turning to see, he saw a girl, probably three or more years older than him. "That's really noble from you, buying an old guitar so overpriced..."
The girl with long brown hair swirled up in a knot on the back of her head smiled as she approached him with elegant steps. 
Sumai frowned and simply looked at her, he held his guitar and slightly lowered his head, seeing his reaction the girl raised an eyebrow and tilted her head.
"You think I'm mocking you? This age has made people cynical..." She shook her head as she circled him, her eyes wandered every part of his body, from head to toe.
"Maybe it just the way you spoke, it felt a little bit arrogant, or perhaps I'm just a prejudiced boy..." Sumai gulped as he stepped back from the girl. Who laughed at how nervous he was around her.
"Relax, I don't bite." She smiled, sat down on the edge of the fountain, and crossed her legs as she turned to look at the faraway mountains covered with snow on the north. "I want to speak about your song, I feel like we could benefit from helping each other."

Humanity's birthplace, contrary to popular belief wasn't on Earth, nor was it specifically in the universe it currently finds itself in.

They were once powerful as well, they had their own gods, they could breach the gap between universal clusters easily, the strongest were even capable of manipulating the world around them, and sometimes bypass certain universal laws to create and erase matter.

But what ultimately destroyed this society once so powerful and full of potential was the struggle for power, there was always someone trying to stand on top of others...

There was always an ideology being loved and one being hated, this constant fanatism over ideas led them to the brink of destruction after a war like no other, in the end, the survivors settled down on the blue planet of the last universe they visited.

Still, not everything was lost, one wise man had a plan to help humanity recover, project human potential...

*Yawn SFX*
Slowly and reluctantly, I uncover my face. I blink, close my eyes, and blink again. Streaks of sunlight penetrate the window and blind me. I sit up, drag my feet off the bed, and rub my knuckles onto my eyes. I stretch my arms above my head and yawn. It was hot. This showed that the summer has finally started. I went towards the bathroom to brush my teeth and clean myself. I continued my daily routine. It was Monday, so I prepared myself to go to school, I prepared my bento, and shoved all school textbooks into my bag. I also made some food for my grandparents, as I had time left before school starts. I made a note telling them that the food is in the fridge. My grandparents were already old and frail, so I had to make lunch and dinner for them. I took my guitar from behind the wall and strolled my way to school.
 I was listening to some music on the way while memorizing the notes played so I can play it on the guitar. I like to play instruments, it's a hobby of mine. My mother taught me the piano when I was little, and I continued playing till I could play most instruments. I'm an addict to music. I like to do anything music related whether it be singing, playing instruments or producing. I also enjoy reading manga. I'm not one of those Otaku that stay at home all day and do nothing but read manga and watch anime. I enjoy going outside by myself and catching some fresh air. Playing my guitar while a soothing breeze passes through my hair is amazing. Not to toot my own horn, but I took first place in every subject during the Exams last year, and during midterms. 'Studying is fun' said no one ever. I don't enjoy studying as much as I have to study. I want to get a good job, so I work hard.
I finally arrived to class about ten minutes before the bell rings. I enter the classroom and see the classmates in their usual groups. The popular kids were together, The girls were together, and the troublemakers were making trouble at their side of the classroom. I don't talk much, so I sit by myself. You would think someone who enjoys going outside and singing would be an extrovert, but I'm pretty introverted. I enjoy spending time alone instead of being in a group. So I placed my head on the table while listening to some music. I would usually just listen to some music until the bell rings.
"Good Morning Saito-san"
Those words took me aback. I never talked to anyone, in fact I made sure to have as little conversation as possible. I made so little conversation that people thought I was mute, so who the hell would talk to me. I looked up, surprised to see that it was the school's idol, Arai Aimi. Most people would stutter or blush after seeing her beauty, but I couldn't care less. I just lifted my hand and waved, then continued listening to music. As I did that I felt powerful gazes directed at me. 
*Bell ringing SFX*
Class had finally started, the teacher took our attendance.

"Saito Aoi" the teacher called. I lifted my hands to show that I was present. The teacher nodded and then continued the class. Class continued like normal. 
*Bell ringing SFX*
 Finally Lunch had arrived. As I opened my bento, I felt the sweet fragrance that passed through the air. Rice, some pre-cooked vegetables and a bit of meat to top it off. I opened my mouth and took a bite out of the meal. It was truly delicious. I opened my phone to put on some music to listen to while eating. While I was basking in the savoury meal, someone tapped me on my shoulder. I turn around to see who it was. It shocked me to see that it was the popular kids. The first thought that came to mind was 'what do they need from me?' I mean, I had never offended them nor talked to them. 
"Can we sit next to you?" Said a handsome man with black hair. He had nice physics, just by a look any girl would fall for him. His name is 'Teruya Takeshi'
I gestured towards the seats in front of me.
He took a seat, and so did his friends. They started talking between themselves so I continued eating my lunch
"Do you play guitar?" Asked a muscular man. His name is 'Miyata Dai'. He is one of those so called 'Muscle-brain'. He practically only exercises. But unlike the muscle-brain you see in anime, this guy has some common sense. I nodded to his question
"What songs can you play?" asked Okumura Cho. She is kind and lovely with short black hair. She is what you would call a tomb-boy. When she revealed that she had no interest in men, everyone went crazy. 
I opened my mouth to talk, but then closed them up immediately. Why? Because I don't like talking to others. I would prefer saving my voice for singing.
"Oh right, your mute,"
I shook my head to tell them I wasn't mute. The four people present gasped after seeing me shake my head. I mean, it was natural. The person who never talked wasn't actually mute.
"Then why don't you talk?" Asked Arai Aimi. Not only were the four of them staring, but the entire class was. The others thought process was probably why am I able to talk to the popular kids instead of them. I just lifted my shoulder up slightly and continued eating. They just looked at each other confused and then looked at me. 
At that moment a light passed through my desk, a light brighter than the sun and more divine than a nun. In a moment the room was engulfed with the divine light. There were almost 40 students present. No life had been left behind, only Bags and desks were left behind. 
At that moment we were suddenly transported. No… We were teleported. When I opened my eyes, my vision was blurry. I couldn't see anything. After two second my vision started to unblur. 'Where am I?' is what I thought. I was in a room built with marble. The floor was white. I looked in front to see an old person staring at us. Its a church. I saw some glitter like substance floating around the old man. Behind him i saw a mural but there was no god on it. It was another person. At that moment i understood something
"THE SUMMONING WAS A SUCCESS"
We are no longer on Earth

"Well, well, well... Look who we got here"
"I'm back, Ichiro-san"
"... Welcome back, Sakurako-san"
Ichiro made a parody of a certain movie scene as opened the front door for Sakurako, and as always she looked unfazed by his usual acting, so he dropped it immediately after hearing her answer
*Notices her baggage* "Here, let me help you carry those"
"Ah! Thanks"
"No problem, after all, we should get along as betrothed, don't you agree?"
"Yes"
Then Ichiro picked up her guitar case and bag and took them to her room together with her
"So where do you want me to put this down?"
"You can just put on the futon"
"Okey-dokey"
And he carefully put down her guitar on the futon alongside her bag
"I didn't know you played  guitar"
"I do, and what about you?"
"I know how to play both sax and trumpet"
"Really?"
"Yeah, one day you should join me and the neighbors on our afternoon musical during Saturdays"
"Musical?... On Saturdays?"
"Yeah, we usually end up playing classic anime intros, but if you want you can play other things that they'll also probably play along"
"Hmmm... Okay"
"Alright, now if you excuse me, I'll be playing some RTS games in my room, you're free to use my console if you want, but you need to use your own game account, got it?"
"Yes"
"Great!"
And with that done, Ichiro left Sakurako's room. And then Sakurako opened her bag that remembered a guitar case and took out her controller guitar together with a rhythm game from it
"Yosh. Time for some more training"
Sakurako had brought her controller guitar with her, because she now knew that she and Ichiro had the same game console, meaning that she could use her controller guitar at his house. She went to the living room, turned on the console and changed the disk inside for the rhythm game disk, and waited some minutes for the console to download the necessary updates, and when all that was done, she passed the controller holster over her head and prepared to play

Some high difficulty musics later

"Fuuu... That was a hard one, hmm?"
She noticed that her phone just received a message, she picked it up and saw it was from Ichiro
//Turn that shit up, girl!!!//
"..."
And she increased the volume of the tv with the remote controller and continued playing

Ichiro at that moment

"..." *Vibing with the music as he concentrated on his genocidal campaign against filthy Xenos*
He liked playing as the evil guy

The next day, morning

Ichiro and Sakurako were already in the classroom, and they were both listening to music with their phones as they did their own things on their desks. Then Haruto and a friend of his entered the classroom and noticed Sakurako using her headphones

They got surprised at Ichiro's comment towards then

"You guys always say what in your minds when it comes to other boys... And I was also shuffling for something to listen to!"

Any talks with Ichiro always ended up making the person talking to him turn into the straight man

And with that just as how abruptly he started talking to Haruto, he did the same when he ended their short conversation
"Ah! Actually, I have one thing to tell you, I'm preparing an 'amazing' present for your birthday"
"You are?"
"Yes, but that's a surprise"
"Okay..."
Haruto was slightly suspicious of Ichiro's claim, but usually, remember usually, he kept his words, and he had said it was an 'amazing' gift, but Haruto didn't notice the slightly different tone he used for the word amazing

Lunchtime

Ichiro and Sakurako were sharing a table as they ate their lunches from their lunchboxes
"So how have you been faring here so far?"
"I've been doing fine, I managed to get closer to a few girls, there are fewer boys trying to go out with me, and tomorrow I'll be one doing our lunchboxes"
"... Fine, it's our agreement to shift our turns at making our lunchboxes each day. And good for you to be getting along with your classmates"
"*Nods* Thanks"
"You're welcome"
"... By the way, the girls invited me to the karaoke after school"
"I don't know what I have to do with that, but okay"

And they then turned their talk to their new friend
"Why? Hmmm... Honestly, it was because we didn't really have any reason to refuse"

"Aaaaww... And here I thought I would be able to hear some heart-pounding reason for it"
"Girl, not everything in the world is like manga and anime. Unfortunately"
"But Kogane-san is the very living example of a rom-com plot happening before our very eyes!"

The girls who were talking about anime and stuff didn't surprise Sakurako since that was something her friends at Tani High usually talked about with her

Ichiro was doing the touches to his "amazing" gift to Haruto, and he came up with a supporting gift to accompany it too

Two twin brothers are having a normal jam session for their rock band when they suddenly find themselves in another world! They then decide to try to become famous bards in this new world using famous songs from our world.

After that, Yukino called the band team. Not long after, they arrived at the room.

Hito looked at the band team and thought 'Thought they would be from a certain anime, but it seems I was wrong. They are just some random side characters of an anime I guess?'

Yukino spoke. "We'll do your request, we have someone here who could be your temporary guitarist."

They looked at Hito and started to inspect him. They were satisfied, after all it was an all girls band team.

But the vocalist seemed to be dissatisfied.

"Hey, are you really sure that he knows how to use a guitar? I mean he is handsome but it wouldn't help us at all if he doesn't know how to play and it will only drag us down."

Her team couldn't refute. If they wanted him to be a temporary guitarist they had to be sure that he was at least knowledgeable at reading the notes and rhyme of the guitar and play along with it proficiently.

Or else it would be useless. Yukino looked at him, expecting him to say something and demonstrate his skills.

Hito nodded and he stared at the vocalist.

"I'm not sure what is a passable grade to you guys but I'd rather let my skills prove it instead of words, can I borrow a guitar?"

The vocalist smiled and spoke. "Hey, I like your attitude. Let's see if your words can match your actions or not!"

"Alright, now give him the guitar."

The vocalist ordered one of the team members to let him play the guitar. After taking the guitar from the member, Hito touched it for a bit.

He felt that he was connected with this guitar. It was a weird yet amazing feeling. It was like he became one with it.

"So which song note should I play?"

The vocalist gave him a paper that was filled with guitar notes and spoke. "These notes are from our original song, so don't you dare tell anyone about it or else I'll sue you."

Hito waved his hand, "No, seriously I won't. Now I'll start to play the notes."

He looked at it for a second and then he put it into the table beside him.

The vocalist was looking at him with a confused expression. "Why aren't you looking at the notes? Don't tell me, you don't know how to read them?"

Hito shook his head, "Nah, I've already memorized them."

"Hah?! Are you kidding me? You just took a glance at it and you say that you have already memorized it? Stop bragging and read it properly!" The vocalist was a little irritated so were her teammates.

Hito shrugged, he really didn't want to explain it to them. Based on how the guitar notes were arranged and how it started with a low note, he guessed that their original song was a classic.

Paying them no need, he started to play the guitar. The vocalist shut up after hearing him play because she could tell that the melody Hito created was very familiar. The more she heard it the more surprised she got, to the point that she became flabbergasted.

"No way, impossible, there's no way that he could memorize the entire note just by glancing at it once!"

Yui, Yukino and Shouko didn't have any knowledge about music, but they were confident that Hito was good at playing the guitar from hearing the melody he created and looking at the shocked and flabbergasted expressions of the Vocalist and her team.

After a few minutes, Hito stopped playing the guitar because the notes were already finished.

"Alright done."

The band team, especially the vocalist, was completely shocked. Consequently she asked Hito.

"You, do you have a photographic memory or something? You literally memorized everything with just a single glance!"

The others also nodded. They also thought that Hito had a photographic memory, otherwise there was no way he could memorize everything with just a single glance!

(E/N: Of course there is. He cheated that's how. You younglings are still 100 years too young to understand Charlottes' profound Dao of Bulshit.)

Yukino, Yui and especially Shouko were really surprised about this. Shouko knew Hito longer than everyone else in this room. She knew the fact that Hito was a genius in Math, Art, Basketball and English, but she didn't know that he had a photographic memory!

Hito shook his head and replied. "No way, I don't have the photographic memory you speak of."

The vocalist asked in confusion. "Then how?"

"Well, it's complicated, you wouldn't understand even if I explained it to you. But I can say that it has something to do with my attainments in music. Oh right, the notes you made are kind of flawed. If you don't mind, may I alter it a bit?"

The vocalist was curious so she nodded and agreed. Acknowledging her permission he pondered for a while and adjusted the guitar, and spoke.

"Alright, it's done. I'll play the upgraded version of your notes now."

Without waiting for the vocalist's reply, he started to play the guitar. As he played the guitar, all of the people in the room suddenly saw an illusion.

An illusion that illustrated what Hito was trying to convey to them through his performance. It was so good that after it ended they got disappointed for not being able to hear more of his performance.

"It's already finished? Please, continue!"

"Yeah! We want to hear more!"

"It was amazing!"

"Encore! Encore! Encore!"

The vocalist now looked at Hito in a different light, she started seeing him as a treasure instead. Let's forget about the cool way he played the guitar, just the how casually he upgraded the original notes into a masterpiece was enough for her to see him as a treasured being.

After he finished playing the upgraded version of the notes, Hito finally realized what he had done. He couldn't control his instincts to upgrade these flawed notes! The skills were affecting his personality and judgement again!

"Oh umm.. so how is it?"

The vocalist went forward and immediately grabbed Hito's hands, she spoke in a maniacal voice. "Please join our band!"

Hito immediately shook his head and replied. "Sorry I have no intention of joining any band. But as you guys requested I have played the notes, so am I qualified to be your guitarist now?"

(E/N: Just use that pea sized brain of yours dude. If you weren't qualified would she act like a maniac to try and recruit you? Goddamn Hito, you should just buy an Intellect skill so that your IQ and EQ could at least rival a normal human's common sense.)

The vocalist nodded and spoke. "Instead of being qualified you are overqualified, so please take care of us from now on."

"Hey, I'm just a temporary guitarist in your band. No need to be so formal, but anyways you can consult with me if you have some problems regarding music."

The vocalist smiled at Hito and replied. "Alright."

Hito looked at her with surprise and thought 'Was this girl always this beautiful?' The vocalist had beautiful long and silky orange hair, pure orange eyes with an extremely sexy body, her face was also extremely cute and adorable to look at.

It was like having the pure face of an angel while also having the seductive body of a devil. It was the ultimate deadly combo that made men's lust flare to unforeseen heights and their rationality to crumble. Hito suddenly asked. "Oh yeah, I haven't properly introduced myself. I'm Tadano Hitohito from the service club as you can already see."

She chuckled and spoke. "The name's Charlotte, Charlotte Tachibana."

A Young man from Earth, was suddenly Transmigrated in the body of Tadano Hitohito. The protagonist of Komi-san can't communicate.

Tadano which is now an entirely different person, the young man who had been Transmigrated from Tadano's body couldn't remember anything from his past besides the Anime, Manga and Novels he reads.

He thought that he'll live peacefully in this Rom-com world with his fated partner Shoko Komi, but he suddenly receives a System!

After talking with All Might for a while longer. All Might finally said his goodbyes and left.

Once All Might had left, Detective Naomasa said to Kei "I am proud of you Kei, not a lot of people would turn down a free quirk like that. Especially one that is so unique and powerful"

"You are right, not a lot of people would" said Kei with a smile on his face

Kei was happy that All Might had considered him to inherit One For All. Sadly Kei already had both an ability and quirk that had potential to surpass One For All.

When Kei finished talking with Detective Naomasa, he excused himself to his room.

When Kei got to his room, he laid on his bed. He thought about the conversation he had with All Might after he decided to reject inheriting One For All.

Kei had told All Might that he had someone in mind to inherit One For All.

When Kei had mentioned Shou to All Might and how he was training hard to become a hero, even though he was quirk-less. All Might seemed to be impressed that Shou was committed to becoming a hero even though he had no quirk.

'If All Might gives One For All to Shou. Then by the time we enter UA High, Shou would already have mastered One For All or at least be close to reaching full mastery over it' thought Kei as he was hoping All Might would go see Shou 

Although Kei felt bad that Midoriya Izuku would not become a hero like in the manga and anime. Kei had to admit that Midoriya Izuku was not the best choice to inherit One For All.

'Although he has good intentions, he is far too reckless' thought Kei as he remembered the anime

Midoriya Izuku would always bite off more than he could chew. It was to the point that he would willingly break his own body, just to have a chance to defeat an opponent he was not ready to go against.

'In the end, Shou is the better choice' thought Kei with an assured look in his eyes

In the past months Shou had shown Kei how responsible and hardworking he was. Not only that but Shou had great judgement of what he was currently capable of doing and not overestimating himself.

'Two symbols of peace' thought Kei with a smile on his face

When he kept thinking of All Might passing One For All to Shou. He could not help but think of the future and having Shou and himself being the leading heroes. 

Shou was keis best friend and there was nobody else he could trust more than him.

The next day Kei got up and had breakfast. After he finished eating his breakfast, he went out to train.

Once Kei finished his training, he went back to his room to take a shower and get himself ready to go to Jiro's home.

When Kei was finished getting himself ready, he grabbed his guitar and went towards the door to head toward Jiro's house.

"Are you heading to your friends house?" Asked Detective Naomasa as he saw Kei well dressed with his guitar on him

"Yes, I will be back in a couple of hours" said Kei 

"Alright, call me if you stay later than that" said Detective Naomasa as he saw Kei go out the door

'Look at him all dressed up, maybe All Might was right, he might actually have a crush on the girl' thought Detective Naomasa as he remembered the conversation he and All Might had about Kei

After a while, Kei finally made it to Jiro's house.

Once Kei was in front of the door he knocked.

After waiting for a few seconds someone came to open the door. 

"Hello, I am Jiro's Friend, Naomasa Kei"

"Hello Kei, I am Kyoka's mother, it is a pleasure to meet you" said Jiro's mother

Jiro's mother had short, dark purple hair with bangs falling to the right side of her face and wearing glasses. What Kei also noticed was that she also had plug like earlobes just like her daughter.

While Kei was thinking of how much Jiro and her mother looked alike. Jiro's mother called her daughter to come out "Kyoka, your friend Kei is here"

Shortly after Jiro's mother called Jiro over. She led Kei to the living room, where Jiro's father was sitting on the couch. 

When Kei saw Jiro's father, they both greeted each other.

"I heard from Kyoka that you are talented in the guitar" said Jiro's father in an interested tone of voice

"I am okay" said Kei with a wry smile on his face

"Now, now, you do not have to be so modest here" said Jiro's mother as she brought some tea for them to drink

"Mom is right Kei, you do not have to be modest" said Jiro as she made her way to the living room where Kei and her parents were sitting

When Jiro saw Kei, she smiled and said" thank you for coming over"

"I should be the one to say thank you for inviting me to your home" said Kei with a smile before he continued "to be honest, before I met you, I did not know anyone that is really into music like I am" 

"Really, then it is a good thing that you and Kyoka met" said Jiro's mother with a glad look on her face

Jiro's mother was happy that Jiro had found a friend that had the same interests as her own.

"If I recall right, I remember Kyoka tell me that you created an amazing original song. Would you mind if I listen to you play it" said Jiro's father to Kei with a face that said he was curious to hear the song

"Would you be willing Kei, I also really want to hear the song" said Jiro's mother with a smile 

When Kei heard both of Jiro's parents say they wanted to hear the song he had played. He could only say "of course I can play it"

Since Jiro's parents seemed really enthusiastic to hear the song he played. Kei reached for his guitar that was in a case that he had gotten from the woman that owned the shop.

Once the guitar case was on keis lap, he then opened it and took the guitar out. 

Once the guitar was on his hands Kei positioned himself so he could star playing the song.

Just as he was about to play. He noticed everyone in the room with shocked expressions on their faces.

Just as Kei was about to ask if there was something wrong. Jiro's father asked in a nervous voice "Kei where did you get that guitar?"

Slightly surprised by the question Kei answered "after Jiro and I met, I kept looking for a guitar. Sadly I had no luck that day, so the next day I went and checked a few shops again. Luckily I found this guitar in a shop someone recommended to me"

When Jiro's parents heard that, Jiro's father then asked "Kei could you let me see the guitar"

When Kei heard that, he answered "sure, I do not mind"

Kei then handed the guitar over to Jiro's father. When Jiro's father grabbed hold of the guitar, he started to examine it. The more he examined the guitar the more shocked his and his wife's expression became.

Finally after checking the guitar Jiro's father then told Kei "you must have left a great impression on the shop owner for her to give you this guitar"

When Kei heard what Jiro's father said, he could only ask "is there something special about this guitar?"

When Jiro's father heard keis question, he answered "Kei you play the guitar and you do not even know, that you got an extremely rare guitar with you"

When Kei heard what Jiro's father said he was shocked. The only thing he could say to Jiro's father was "how do you know for sure, that this guitar is extremely rare?"

Jiro's father answered "well for one, it is signed by the luthier Oye Yasushi himself. As for the other reasons"

Jiro's father then told him every detail about this guitar, as well as the luthier that had made it.

When Kei heard all the details that Jiro's father told him. His expression resembled the same one everyone had a while ago.

'To think this guitar was so rare' thought Kei as a look of shock was still on his face

From what Kei had learned, the luthier Oye Yasushi was the greatest guitar maker in the world. His guitars were so good, that each of his surviving guitars are priceless.

'And I got it for such a cheap price' thought Kei 

When Kei thought up to there. He remembered the other part of the deal he made to keep the guitar.

'I am going to play music in that shop every other week for the rest of my life' 

When Kei was thinking that, Jiro's mother then said "honey, give Kei his guitar back. I want to listen to him play his song" 

"You still want him to use the guitar, even though it is priceless" said Jiro's father in a shocked tone of voice 

"Well, all instruments are made to be played with, not to gather dust in some display" said Jiro's mother as she encouraged Kei to play his song

When Jiro's mother said that, Kei felt better about playing the song on his guitar. Soon after he started playing the song.

When Jiro's parents heard the song that their daughter told them about. They had to admit that Kei was talented in creating songs as well as playing the guitar.

"Kei, let's go play our guitars in my dads studio" said Jiro as she stood up from the couch

"That sounds good to me" said Kei as he also started to get off the couch

Once Kei and Jiro got to the studio Jiro's dad had set up in his house. The two of them started talking about their favorite bands, favorite songs and many other things.

After they talked for a while they finally started to play some music on their guitars. 

After some time had passed Kei said "Jiro, do you want to come up with our own song"

When Jiro heard that, she asked "you want to create a song with me?"

"Yes" said Kei without a hint of doubt 

When Jiro saw how serious Kei was about this. She said "you are already good at making songs. Why do you want to make songs with me?"

When Kei heard what Jiro asked, he said "because it is more fun to do things together"

When Jiro heard Kei say that, she had no reason to disagree anymore.

"Alright let's make the greatest song anyone has ever heard" said Jiro with great confidence in her voice

"Alright, then lets get started but before that, can I ask you something" said Kei 

"Sure, what is it?" Asked Jiro with curiosity 

"Well, could I call you by your given name?" Asked Kei 

When Jiro heard keis question. She was silent for a few seconds before saying "sure I don't mind"

"Alright, then let's start coming up with some lyrics Kyoka" said Kei as he was getting ready to write

And just like that Kei and Kyoka started the first of many songs they would play together.

“I died” 

Those were the first words Yamamoto Kei said to himself, thinking he was alone in the endless darkness of the void.

Little did he know that he wasn’t alone. For a system was there with him, to present him with a gift and a new world he can call home.

Note: this is not a novel where the MC will reincarnate and magically get god level acting skills or BS his way out of any situation. This novel is about an MC who is training constantly to reach his goals in the world he is now living in.

<YANG YU'S P.O.V>
Yu hadn't expected to be standing in the Clubroom of Musical sky, but here he was. A girl had found him dancing in the secret room and asked him to repeat it a few more times. Then suddenly she'd told him she was the manager of Musical Sky and she wanted him to be their lead singer. Then she'd dragged him all the way to the door of the club. Yu heard the sound of someone playing an electric guitar, he automatically started mentally writing down the notes to what the tune would be on electric guitar for "Down To Earth."
The manager of Musical Sky, I think her name is May, pushed the door opened and dragged him in. The person who was playing the guitar stopped and looked up and him and then looked at May skeptically. "Hey May, who's this?" he asked.
May smiled at him and said, "He's the lead singer, starting today." The boy shot to his feet dropping the guitar he was holding. Yu quickly got away from May and grabbed the guitar before it hit the ground.
"Oh sorry about that." The boy said as he reached for the guitar in Yu's hands. Yu stepped back away from him. "Hey, give it back." The boy complained.
"No." Yu said smiling as he dodged all of the boy attempts at getting the guitar back. "I want to play it I'll give it back when I'm done," Yu said playfully. He could tell that the boy was getting annoyed by the fact that he couldn't catch Yu.
"Komaki," May called him. "Let him play." Suddenly they Boy that had seemed so serious changed, he clung to May's arm begging her to make Yu give his guitar back. She chuckled but didn't do anything so Komaki went to sulk in the corner.
Yu sat down the edge of the couch and shifted the Guitar so that it was in the proper position. He strummed the strings lightly to make sure it was tuned, he then turned some of the pegs so it was tuned properly. Then he started playing. 'Down To Earth.' It's a fast-paced song with a lot of high and low notes. Yu slowed down a bit so that he could think of what cords to play. He played a quick intro before he started singing.
As Yu sang Komaki turned around surprised by the skill of the new kid. Yu saw Komaki moving closer to hear him better. When Yu finished singing he passed the Guitar back to Komaki. Yu heard someone sigh and turned to May she was shaking her head, "you're too good how did nobody notice you before now." Yu smiled but didn't answer.
"You're good." Yu heard a low voice say. He realized that there was a third person in the room. He was sitting on a bench behind a set of drums. He was tall and well built. He didn't seem like the talkative type.
"Whoa, Yoku spoke!" Komaki said as he jumped to his feet and took the guitar from Yu.
Suddenly Komaki started asking Yu a bunch of questions, "What's your name, how old are you, do you play any sports, you have a good voice, how much do you practice, why did you dye your hair green, can you dance?" Yu put his hand up cutting Komaki off and answered his non-stop questions.
"My name's Yang Yu, I'm eighteen, I play basketball and I like swimming, I practice two hours a day, this is my natural hair colour, Yes."
Komaki kept talking but Yu just ignored him and asked May if there was somewhere he could practice. May lead him to a small stage in the corner of the room, Komaki followed still talking. As Yu went up on the stage he saw May and Komaki walking on the floor to somewhere they could see him better. Komaki shifted his non-stop rant over to May but she just ignored him.
As Yu started dancing he felt his limbs moving to the sound of instruments playing in his head. His voice flowed with the dance, anyone listening could easily tell that Yu had spent hours practicing. As the dance came to an end the room was silent. May smiled silently shaking her head in aw, Komaki stared at him his mouth open but couldn't think of anything to say. Yoku's lips curled up slightly and he started clapping slowly.
Suddenly the bell for the end of lunch rang and Yu ran back to class. But not before May made him promise to come back tomorrow.

Yang Yu loves singing and dancing, he does it whenever he's alone. What he doesn't expect is when Ran May,  the manager of the popular high school boy band Musical Sky overhears him singing she drags him to the band's club room and he becomes they're lead singer. In the band, he meets Chang Yoku a strong and silent drummer, Sao Komaki a very talkative and funny Rhythm guitarist and Tai Karu the lead guitarist. Yu feels like Karu is different from others to him. He soon realizes his true feeling for Karu. But what will he do about it?

"Touch it like how you stroke a baby's head, Kousei..", said a familiar woman's voice softly.
 
"I'm scared. Please don't leave me alone..", a young girl's voice whimpered.
 
"He's my treasure..", the woman's voice whispered.
 
"Let's struggle together..", said the young girl gleefully.
 
"Don't forget me.."
 
Arima Kousei woke up with a start. His alarm was not about to go off until another hour. "I've been dreaming about my mom and 'her' lately."
 
Kousei reluctantly stood up from his bed, realizing that he was still wearing his school uniform from yesterday. He glanced towards his bathroom and contemplated on taking a quick bath.
 
"It has been almost three years. I should've moved on already..", Kousei thought, as he ditched his usual early morning preparations and opted for wearing a hoodie over his uniform instead. "Is it because of the Christmas presentation tomorrow? That's strange.. It's not even a competition."
 
Proceeding to open the door to walk to the studio instantly froze Kousei in place. The cold was bone chilling, and it was still dark. Walking through an  early morning winter landscape was definitely a terrible idea for anyone. However, he got used to it for doing it since the band practices started. 
 
"No. It can't be that. But I do feel a bit of pressure..", Kousei pondered in his thoughts while carrying on to his destination. "Every time I step on the stage, I have to make them remember me..
 
"That's your fault.. such cruelty.. 
 
"You taught me how to play for everyone.. to make them remember me.. to reach them.. to reach you..
 
"Then you left me."
 
The halls were still relatively deserted the moment Kousei entered the school's building. Even if the corridors were already lit, there were no students or members of the faculty present. Only few of the maintenance crew were doing morning cleanups to prepare for the day's activities. It was still a good couple of hours before the bell, after all.
 
As soon as Kousei entered the studio, he sat on the piano bench and let his fingers touch the keys almost automatically. A familiar accompaniment piece resounded throughout the muffled walls of the studio. In fact, being so much into it let Kousei play it with his eyes closed. It was just his heart being poured through the intricate melodies of the song. It was as if a very dear figure of a blonde girl appeared standing beside him and played the violin over his accompaniment.
 
"As expected.. first place again, Kousei..", said by a tiny red headed boy with a monstrous hard case larger than him strapped on his back. The arrival of Kousei's classmate stopped him from playing Beethoven's "Kreutzer" midway on the piano. The strings specialist in their presentation came in shortly after for rehearsal.  
 
"I don't count in your little race, Taka. You know I couldn't sleep well during presentation preps..", Kousei replied, while Takashima Kintaro opened his case revealing a humongous musical instrument inside, a cello. 
 
"Then, you might as well spend the night here..", Taka answered back while setting his cello up. After that, he took another instrument out of his hard case to hand to Kousei, an electric guitar. "Since we're both here now, why don't we start with the guitar riffs?"
 
"Wait, did you just get taller?..", Kousei teased Taka, as he took the guitar while patting him on his head. His little friend seemingly transformed into a tiny red godzilla in irritation. "It still amazes me how a miniature carried that amount of weight around school."
 
Taka is the same age as Kousei though, and had been his classmate since first year, but the growth spurt seem to have come late for him. 
 
"Shall we?..", Kousei asked, as he positioned the guitar properly on his lap. 
 
"Someday, I'm going to be a tall basketball player with hot chicks drooling whenever I dunk the ball in the rim.. mark my words", Taka angrily mumbled, as a vein almost popped in his head in fury. While he plugged an audio cord into the amplifier, Kousei laughed a little.
 
To clear things up, yes, Kousei can play the guitar now since he gets lessons from Taka consistently. Okutsu encourages its students to immerse themselves into different kinds of music. However, he remains a pianist who competes at least twice in a year. It would just not be a "presentation" in Christmas if he relied on his usual piano skills.
 
"Hey, you're not using a bow?..", asked Kousei while noticing Taka using his fingers to pluck the cello's strings. 
 
"We're playing a mix of contemporary and classical music, Kousei, a Christmas medley. It'll sound odd if I use a bow while you play an electric guitar..", Taka replied. 
 
"Well, that's your specialty, I won't complain..", Kousei answered back with an awkward chuckle. 
 
After a few minutes into the two practicing a guitar riff of a popular contemporary Christmas song, "Jingle Bell Rock" by Americans Joe Beal and Jim Boothe, the door slammed open causing them to stop abruptly. A huge dark skinned boy with an afro entered the room pulling a cart full of junk. Well, it was not junk, but a set of "bells" with different tones.
 
"I will never win the race, you guys..", the round boy said in a tired, deep voice while panting. "With me carrying all of this around.. it slows me down. I woke up at five, you know..", he added after a deep breath. "I mean, why can't I just leave it here? The property custodian's messing with me..", he continued while he set his "bells" up. "Why do we have to do 'Carol of the Bells', anyway? We're doing contemporary in the end. Such a drag..", he said again, revealing his adorably whiny personality. 
 
That was Kimura Ganryu, a very talkative one, a classmate and good friend of Kousei's since tenth grade. He is a very kindhearted soul, only that he complains a lot when he gets tired. It was most likely because of his poor physical fitness on the heavier side. Nonetheless, he was the top student when it comes to beating anything or anyone up because of his size, the "death drum", the percussion instruments specialist. 
 
"You'll still move freakin slow even without your 'bells', Ganryu..", Taka said with a smirk that turned into laughter.
 
"Ha-ha-ha.. very funny..", Ganryu replied sarcastically, while he sat behind the drum set. "Well, we can't start with the 'bells' yet until Emi-chan arrives. Let's just carry on with what you two were playing. One.. two.. three..", he added, at the same time, clapping his drum sticks together in unison with his counting. 
 
Kousei immediately struck the lead line on three, then they played with drums this time. It was smooth as expected. They have been practicing since the start of the second term, after all. Bobby Helms, the one who popularized the song, along with composers Beal and Boothe, would have been proud of them. 
 
Everything was going great until midway, the drums stopped out of nowhere. Ganryu was staring towards where the door was. He was smiling with eyes sparkling, as if he was suddenly taken to heaven. 
 
"Oi, Yokozuna Kravitz, what the hell are you stopping for?!..", Taka asked Ganryu furiously before looking towards the door. When he finally caught a glimpse at what Ganryu was staring at, the same expression took over his face. 
 
"Emi-chan..", they both said at the same time in glee. It was Emi, she was late again. Apparently, she was the only one who did not care about this race to be earliest. She always loved being "fashionably late" or making that "big entrance". 
 
"Oh.. good morning, Taka-kun, Kimura-kun..", Emi flashed a quick smile. That obviously made Taka's and Ganryu's hearts jump, as they both turned as red as Emi's sweater.
 
"Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner. Even if she's last..", Ganryu whispered to Taka without breaking his gaze towards Emi.
 
"Uh huh..", Taka replied, also not breaking the stare.
 
"I don't know how she does it..", thought Kousei with a blank expression. "Everyone seemed to be enthralled with her smile all the time, but to me, she used it sparingly." 
 
Even as Emi approached to kiss Kousei good morning on the lips, she kept her poker face on him. Though she was always quite successful on turning them both red as a tomato whenever she did that. 
 
"Kousei's the real winner..", Taka whispered.
 
"Uh huh..", Ganryu answered.
 
Kousei looked at her for a while as she placed her bag at the side. She was wearing her red sweater, as usual, over her school uniform. Though she wore black heater leggings underneath to prevent her from freezing in winter. Sporting her black closed shoes, that were actually cross trainers, concluded her getup to make her so cute. However, "you're late again..", said Kousei to her.
 
"So?..", Emi shot a sharp glance at Kousei, while she sat in front of the piano. 
 
Sweat started to form on Kousei's forehead. Emi was about to go beast mode again. But he still mustered the courage to answer back. She was late, after all. "We only have a day to polish our performance, Igawa-san. We can't afford to lose time." 
 
"Time? You're the one taking constant breaks on the roof deck alone. Besides, I've already perfected my part. How about you, Arima-kun?..", Emi said with that cold blast coming from her stare, that ironically torched Kousei. She had a point. "Anyway, sit beside me, dummy. We're supposed to start this on piano, right? Shall we start, boys?"
 
They initially planned to start the presentation with Leontovych's classic, "Carol of the Bells". However mesmerizing it could be, they wanted to do something more out of it to really involve everyone in the venue. 
 
Emi and Kousei began a soft piano duet using the piece climaxing midway through when the cello and the bells entered the scene. Eventually, it became a pseudo battle between Kousei and Emi on the piano, like two adept Samurai in a fatal duel, which actually reminded Kousei of his and Nagi's performance from three years ago. Of course, it was scripted that Emi would look like the winner, but of course, it did not mean that Kousei did not give her a hard time to spice things up.
 
"I was actually very skeptical about this..", Kousei thought while playing the piano piece with Emi. "But hey, it's just really me. Nothing's changed before each of my performances, really. I still sat on one corner every time before a presentation, hugging my knees, and pondering deep into my thoughts..
 
"Am I going to hear the piano? Will I reach them?
 
"I'm scared. Help me. Somebody."
 
"You have me..", a girl's cheery voice answered in Kousei's thoughts. "Don't forget."
 
"And I have them..", Kousei thought while looking at his three other classmates. 
 
At the day of the event, the members of Kousei's little band were wearing awkward Christmas costumes. Ganryu was a snowman, which made sense because of his body. Taka was a reindeer with red hair, instead of his nose. And Emi was wearing a Santa dress with a matching hat that fit her perfectly, and still in red as always. 
 
"Come to think of it, I'm the only one out of place with a green elf costume, but I'm the tallest of the group..", whispered Kousei to himself with an awkward chuckle. "But it's so much easier to go on stage with three other people to carry the burden. I really should've done this a long time ago."
 
And it worked like magic. The "bells" definitely enticed the audience the following day. The notes hit perfectly. The tempo was on point. The intensity was more than enough. It filled the theater with so much green, red, and white. Everyone got into the spirit of Christmas. 
 
"And yes, I can hear the piano. It has been a while since I plunged into that deep dark place..", Kousei thought, as he pressed the keys with Emi at center stage. "A certain someone had saved me from that."
 
The first objective had been met. They needed the audience to be with them because they were in for some surprises.
 
As the first part ended, Emi transitioned smoothly to a different piece. It was so perfectly executed that no one would have noticed that it was a different song. This time, she played Adam's "Cantique de Noël". As she carried on, Kousei almost forgot that he was supposed to set a microphone close to her face. 
 
"She's just so beautiful when she starts playing with her eyes closed and swaying through the rhythm of the piece..", thought Kousei while trying to break his stare towards Emi.
 
Then it happened, the day's first surprise, Emi's vocal showcase. Apparently, no one in school knew that she could sing because they were all consumed by her being a prodigious pianist. Although, at the very least, everyone was expected to be able to sing in tune since they were all in a music academy, but her ability was on another level. 
 
The moment she sang the words, "O, Holy Night", the entire theater drowned in her angelic voice. Everyone applauded her with confused but immense admiration. All of the people present, including her bandmates, felt like floating slowly into the heavens. This was definitely a great Christmas present. 
 
However, Kousei could only just imagine most of the boys in school salivating on his girlfriend's performance, which kicked him back to reality. He had to start preparing for the next surprise. 
 
With Taka hitting his cello with the bow midway through the song was Kousei's first hint that he was almost up. Ganryu hitting his "stuff" near the end was his cue that he should be ready. And when Emi hit the high note of the finale, he positioned his hands on the stringed instrument.
 
The audience was not even finished applauding Emi when Kousei hit the first line of the lead guitar riff of "Jingle Bell Rock". The lights opened revealing him on the guitar, Taka on his cello and no longer with the bow, and Ganryu with his drum set, when Emi started singing the first lines of the song. She also played the upbeat piano piece simultaneously. This was the ultimate surprise of the night. And it was received with great praise.
 
Finishing the performance with a quick tempo, contemporary Christmas song was a brilliant idea. It turned the theater into one massive Christmas party. The audience seemed to not want to end it yet. Kousei did not want to stop, and same with his bandmates, but all great things must come to an end. 
 
A standing ovation followed. Some were asking for an encore. Mostly all cheered loudly for the band, but most of the boys were for Emi, causing Kousei to sigh a little. And the girls cheered the loudest for one of them whom Kousei would like to think was for Ganryu or Taka, after Emi quickly shot a deadly "Ocular Jutsu" towards him. "I get it, she'll kill me if I acknowledge them".
 
The four bowed and waved towards the audience from their current positions. Then, Kousei shot a quick glance at his classmates, then at the people around him. 
 
"This is my life now..", once again, Kousei pondered in his thoughts. "A musician. A performer..
 
"I like this feeling..
 
"This is good. I can get used to this."
 
"I won't forget this. Thank you so much..", a small framed blonde girl standing in front of the audience said. 
 
"Wait. Who?..", Kousei took a second look. "She wasn't really there.. 
 
"Was I just imagining it? 
 
"Yes, I definitely was."

Yokozuna Kravitz - a nod both towards the famous sumo wrestler character in the world wrestling federation in the late eighties and early nineties, and to the famous rock icon, Lenny Kravitz. In this chapter, Taka used this moniker for Ganryu basing it on his appearance.

In the original anime series, this was the first piece Miyazono Kaori played with the violin to depict her as a quirky violinist.
 
Jingle Bell Rock - an American popular Christmas song first released by Bobby Helms in 1957. It has received frequent airplay in the United States during every Christmas season since then. It was composed by Joseph Carleton Beal and James Ross Boothe. 
 
Carol of the Bells - a popular Christmas carol, with music by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych in 1914 and lyrics by Peter J. Wilhousky. The song is based on the Ukrainian folk chant "Shchedryk".
 
Cantique de Noël - or "O Holy Night" in English is a well-known Christmas carol composed by Adolphe Adam in 1847 to the French poem "Minuit, chrétiens" (Midnight, Christians) written by wine merchant and poet Placide Cappeau. In both the French original and the English version of the carol, as well as in many other languages, the text reflects on the birth of Jesus as humanity's redemption.

The beloved story of the piano prodigy returns as he embarks on a journey from being an awkward boy to a full fledged adult. Although just barely on the cusp of manhood, Arima Kousei already studies in his dream school, has a decent set of true friends, and is together with the most popular girl in the campus. However, there is one problem. A vacuum of space lies in the middle of his chest that used to house something very precious to him. 

Join Kousei as he tells his story through his own eyes, along with a few friends to help him out, on how he faces the tumultuous life of a teenager trying to move forward from a painful yet colorful memory. It begins just barely four years after he met the love of his life, Miyazono Kaori.
