As always, I wake up at 7 am sharp, get out of bed, brush my teeth, have a shower, get dressed, go outside to pick up the newspaper, back inside for a cup of coffee then back to my regular old leather chair and sit down, turn on the T.V. and read the newspaper.

'Once again, Eternal is on the front page.' I thought as I skimmed through the newspaper with the T.V. in the background.

After skimming through the newspaper I look at the date 23/05/2130. 1 day before the release of Pandora, I was excited for several reasons, the main ones are that I likes the game, it looks great the graphics are out of this world, the economy took several teams of economists to perfect and because I own 15% of the shares I can take a few sneak peaks at the game during the making and it will give me the opportunity to earn ten lifetimes worth of money.

'It all went down like this, Eternal its a multi-billion dollar company, they have assets over several tens of billion and they had enough resources to make this game several times over, or at least they did at the time the game was planned out, the game was originally planned out to take 2 years, but that all relied on the fact that they were generating enough money, but after 2 years they started having some money problems, not that they didn't have enough, just that they weren't generating enough, because they had focused on creating Pandora and had not put enough manpower into creating and promoting expansion packs and new games to keep the income high, but instead of stopping there and looking for other avenues of income they carried on.

Another 4 years later and they start to have money problems, serious money problems, when you are a multi-billion dollar company the least thing to expect is going into debt but it happened, 6 years into a 10-year game, just over halfway done and they almost had to start giving up.

So they started looking for guarantors, people who would vouch for them when they needed to take a loan out from the bank and of course for a billion-dollar company to take out a loan they would need a guarantor with a billion dollars or more, that was where I come in, my total possessions left to me were $1.5 Billion total, I had managed to become a guarantor and after several weeks of negotiating I was able to secure 15% of the shares in the company in exchange for becoming a guarantor and paying a total of $500 million after the loan has been paid back, so technically I had to pay nothing to get the 15% not like they are really worth anything as of yet.

When a company goes in debt the share prices will typically go down as shareholders will try to sell the shares before they lose even more money that is until they can pay them off, so they are only worth a fraction of the price they usually sell for, but if they manage to pay off the debt the prices will go back up possibly even becoming double or triple since the creation of this game has generated so much media attention and popularity.'

Finishing his morning newspaper and coffee I go back to my computer.

Like every other day, I go onto the wiki for Pandora because unlike many other games Eternal has decided to post a lot of information about the game on the wiki page, whilst I am looking at the wiki I notice a lot more information has been posted that wasn't there before, like the types of classes that you can start as, some of the basic starter quests and the different types of quests, but most of the essential information was still missing, such as dungeon placements and how to advance from start villages etc. but that is not what important for now because in 6 hours my capsule will arrive.

Eternal has created several tens of thousands of capsules, they are to be distributed to all the staff members and the shareholders.
Of course, they have plans of being able to supply everyone with a capsule but with the limited amount of funds available right now they are unable to create them.

After browsing the internet for several hours I stopped absorbing the information on the wiki to cook dinner and by cook I mean look at a takeaway menu, pick up the phone, dial the number and order Thai food.

Some 15 minutes later the doorbell rang.

I rushed from my office to the door, unexpectedly it wasn't the food I was starting to crave for, but the delivery men for the capsule. I let them in to do the installation which I was told will take 2 hours and leave them to it while I go back to my office and await my food which is supposed to arrive any time now.

Another 10 minutes later and I start to give up 'I'm not wasting my time for this food' I thought to myself and decided to have something else to eat.

I open my special take-away drawer, containing around 50 different menus for food to eat based on what I'm craving.

'Since Thai food has failed me today I shall go for Indian' Whilst thinking about what I was going to eat I pick up the previous Thai takeaway menu and throw it in the bin beside my desk.

15 minutes later my food had arrived and 15 minutes after that I finished my food and back to the computer to absorb more information on the 'Best game in the history of games' for the rest of the day.

Some hours later the day turned into night, time had flown by without me realising and when I looked up to the clock on my wall I had noticed that it was 3 am in the morning, I turned off the computer went to the kitchen, got a drink and headed upstairs where I changed my clothes got into bed and drifted off to sleep.

A core belief is a central part of cultivation. It describes the motivation behind cultivation and what you believe in. While acting according to your core belief you can nurture it and have it grow.

Skills that align with your core belief are more efficient than others. You can use the power of your core belief to increase the effect of skills which are in tune with it.


Your current core belief 'For the family' is a common one, that focuses on the family. There are generally three routes most people take, with many others available as well.

Route one:
The happiness of the family. Here the happiness of the family and its members stand in the foreground. It mostly focuses on supporting skills, that can help family members attain happiness.

Route two:
The glory of the family. This route focuses on the glory of the family. An important point to watch is what glory means, but generally, it can be described as the reputation the family has in the eyes of the others. This route focuses mainly on combat skills since a good way to increase the reputation of the family is to fight against strong monsters or cultivators.

Route three:
I'm the family and the family is me. This route is an egocentric one, where the focus is on oneself and the family is seen as an extension of oneself. Everything you and the family do is for you to enjoy.

Recommend route:
A mixture between route one and two is recommended since it can balance the two. Sometimes a little bit of route three is advisable as well since it can reduce the risk of being used by the family.

Ivan checked out his sea of consciousness and easily found the small seed floating in it, besides the mental hut. This was the representation of the core belief.

It would start as a seed and then slowly be nurtured into a sapling, before growing into a tree. There wasn't any mention of an upper limit in the wiki entry, but there were hints that after the tree reached a certain size, it would change. It was just that he wasn't able to access this information and besides, it was still way too far away for him to think about.

He took a closer look at the unassuming seed, but couldn't detect anything special. It would have to become a sapling first before it could be used in any way.

While reading about the core belief, he had also read about family belief. The family belief was slightly different from the core belief. It would grow with the deeds of the family members and unlike the core belief, it didn't allow the usage of its power to strengthen skills. Instead, it would provide buffs for the family members.

And unlike core beliefs, which one could have as many as one wants, although it was generally seen as unrealistic to have more than four, a family could only have one family belief per rank. As such it was important that the family head selected a good core belief to serve as family belief. In fact, often the family heads would rather leave a spot free than select an unsuitable belief.

Luckily for Ivan, according to the wiki, his 'For the family' was one of the most popular family beliefs. It was generally seen as having good synergy with the family system since it put the focus on the family. The wiki didn't go in-depth, but it mentioned that the buffs gained through the 'For the family' belief were some of the best, since they would allow the family to be stronger and even sped up the growth of other family beliefs.

As such it was one of the best first or second family beliefs to be selected.

With this knowledge, Ivan didn't hesitate to select the accept button.

"Oh right.", that was something Ivan had forgotten about. For the family belief to work, just like the core belief, it had to grow into at least a sapling. But unlike the core belief which would grow inside one's sea of consciousness, the family belief would grow in the family home.

Only at rank 2 would a family get a family home, near the place, where it was founded. This family home would then serve as the focal point of the family. Later it could then be moved, if necessary.

Now, this was a quest, Ivan liked. It was straightforward and required him to do what he desired to do anyway. And that was to spend time with his family. Because spending a happy time with family members would be one of the easiest ways to grow his core belief seed.

"Morning, Ivan.", the others replied. Although Celine should have called him master, ever since they had done the contract, he had told her to just act comfortable and call him by his name. As for Lucia, she just called him by his name from the start, not feeling any distance to him.

He sat down and looked at them. As usual, Lucia sat beside his daughter and the two whispered to each other and picked up each other food. It warmed his heart to see them acting so comfortable with each other. Opposite of them sat Celine who too smiled at the sight of her daughter.

She had gotten better since Ivan had infused her with Vital Qi regularly. Now she was able to walk on her own again and her formerly white hair had gotten some color at the roots. According to her, it would take at most two more months until they could execute the ritual. 

But she was already able to transfer him enough spiritual qi to cure the flareups of blood. Something that made his life much easier.

He has spent countless hours on this game and soon learned about Doom: Eternal.

And as the months went by and got closer to the month of February. James was always looking for any news on the game that was coming out. Chapter 1

November 6, 2022
1st Floor
Lush green grass covered the ground that I walked on, and trees dotted my surroundings. I climbed a short hill and let out a smile. On the horizon, I saw a sweeping flat landscape, filled with the same vibrant green grass. Verdant forests and large mountains resided in the distance, as well as a large rectangular tower that stretched so high up that it almost pierced the heavens. Bustling settlements of different sizes were distributed throughout the floor, but by the far the biggest one was the Town of Beginnings, the city that I just came out of. And last but not the least, a breathtaking cloudless afternoon sky completed the scene.
This was the sight that greeted me as I first set out into the fields found inside the floating castle of Aincrad.
And while I've got a soft spot for sci-fi settings, I couldn't deny that this was gorgeous. I know that the added immersion created by the NerveGear helped, but kudos to the game designers.
Sword Art Online…I get the feeling that this game's gonna be awesome.
I spotted movement on the corner of my vision. I turned to it and was greeted to my very first monster in the game – a Dire Wolf. It was in a relaxed state, slowly walking around and smelling the ground in front of it. Damn. He looks big, even from where I'm standing.
While it looked intimidating, I should start familiarizing myself with the combat. No doubt that I'm gonna face even more dangerous monsters as I play further into this came.
I took a deep breath and nodded. I crouched and traversed down the hill. I drew out my weapons of choice – a one-handed spear on my left hand. I also bought and equipped the very basic medium armor set that consisted of a metal breastplate, and leather gauntlets and greaves.
I stalked the wolf for a short distance. After a few minutes, it stopped and sniffed something on the ground.
I was about to come closer when I heard something behind me. I hurriedly turned around and readied my weapons. Fortunately, it wasn't another monster, but another player.
"H-hey." He greeted nervously. He had a standard shortsword and shield combo. His armor was the basic heavy armor set that was thicker and covered more of his body at the cost of movement speed. He looked determined, but very anxious.
"Hey." I replied.
"Do you want team up with this one? I'm kinda new, so…"
"Sure. This is also my first fight, so yeah, let's do this." I turned and nodded to the monster." There's no way we can sneak up on it for too close, so once it rears up or something, we rush it."
"Sounds good."
The two of us silently approached the wolf. When we were about 5 meters away, the wolf suddenly looked up and round.
That was our cue.
We rushed forward. He swung his sword while I stabbed at it. With a high-pitched whine, the Dire Wolf rolled to the side. But we couldn't finish it off. It recovered and barked at us before it lunged toward me.
Out of reflex, I closed my eyes and raised my spear in front of me to block the attack. I felt something slam on my spear and I almost fell back. I forced my eyes open and was greeted to the monster barreling its way towards me, its enormous claws bared into a forward lunge. "…!" I let out a sharp breath and just swung wildly with my spear. I knocked it away, and it stayed still long enough for my buddy to finish it off.
"Haah…haah…we got it…we got it!" My buddy shouted before he slumped down and panted.
I slowly picked myself up. "It was a bit too close for comfort there, but I'm glad I got out of it in one piece."
"Yeah, you're telling me. Good thing that it was alone."
I was about to agree, but then I heard something on the side. I turned to the source, and my eyes widened. The grass near us was rustling, and it was not because of the wind. "Oh, no…" I muttered.
"What…is it?" He asked.
"…wolves…hunt in packs…"
Sure enough, the rustling came closer and closer before two Dire Wolves jumped out of the grass. Their enormous claws were bared, and one of them glared at me so intensely that it sent chills down my spine.
We're screwed.
"Oh, no. No no no." He turned towards me. "S-screw this! Let's just run. Run away now." He said anxiously as he gripped his sword tighter.
"W-we can't outrun them. The moment we turn our backs is the moment they run like hell and tear us to bits."
"W-what should we do, then?"
Before I could respond, the wolves leaped at us claws-first. The bigger one went for me like a speeding car, while the smaller one targeted my buddy, moving even faster.

Cue Music: Breath of Fire IV Soundtrack – Bastard Sword

"Holy shit!" My buddy jumped sideward to dodge, falling over.
"Gh…!" Cursing under my breath as I dove to my left, I was barely able to dodge the brunt of the wolf's attack, its claws slicing my right shoulder as it lunged past me and turned around, facing me. Three red gashes spread onto my shoulder. The wound was emitting eerie red particles.
I felt a burning sensation in my wounded arm, but the pain inflicted is only simulated and severely muffled. I doubt any sane person would try this game if the pain sensation is fully emulated. Grimacing, I quickly checked how much HP I lost. Displayed on my HUD, my HP dropped by about a quarter. Wow, that is a lot of damage!
I quickly got up and faced the wolf, which was strangely silent but tense, as if anticipating something. I darted forward for a stab, but it quickly jumped back and started barking again. Interesting. Am I seeing things, or is that a pattern?
Years of playing video games told me that mobs, especially mobs found in the starting area, tend to be easy to beat, because they're either pathetically weak, or have very exploitable weaknesses. Testing my hunch as the wolf lunged, I dodged to my side again, this time completely evading its attack completely. Again, it landed past me and quickly turned towards me, silent and alert.
I rushed towards it, my spear poised. Come on. Take the bait. Reacting to my action, the wolf jumped back.
That signaled my attack.
I leaped again, closing the distance. I knew it. Bait its dodge and it won't be able to move for a short while. It's now or never!
"Die!" With all the strength I can muster, I delivered a hefty stab. Yes! My attack connected! After a small but noticeable spark of red particles, the wolf was sent flying a short distance. Thankfully, there was no blood. While it was in mid-air, I noticed that all its HP was depleted. It exploded into bluish particles and disappeared.
Victorious, I smiled and let out a shaky sigh of relief.
"Look out!"
My buddy's scream snapped me back to reality. I turned to where he is. A wolf was bearing down on me as it ran full tilt. I froze up, unable to move.
My buddy tackled the wolf to the ground. The wolf managed to knock him to his back, trying to bite his face off. My buddy was holding it back, blocking its fangs with his own sword. I saw his HP take a serious hit. "Aaah!"
I quickly made my way towards him. With both hands on my spear, I prepared to strike at the wolf. In my rush, I failed to realize that the wolf disengaged from My buddy and tensed itself, ready to react to my charge.
The wolf dodged to the side, evading my attack. It then tackled me on my side. I staggered backward, reeling but able to maintain my footing. My HP again dropped about a fifth. The wolf then bared its fangs and leaped for a bite. Shielding myself, I raised my right arm. It promptly lodged its fangs into my arm.
I grit my teeth, a pained grunt escaping from my mouth as I dropped my spear in panic and used my other hand in trying to pry the damn thing's jaw open. I can see from the corner of my eye that the rest of my HP was dropping at an alarming rate.
Fortunately, My buddy quickly got up to his feet. He swung his sword and was able to slash at the wolf, hacking its HP to about a tenth. I felt its fangs loosen on my arm.
"Raaaaagh!" Following My buddy's attack, I let out a loud cry and, overwhelmed by adrenaline, raised my left arm and punched the wolf in the face, finishing it off.
A message appeared with a small fanfare:
*Ding!* Level up!
*Ding!* Spear Proficiency Up! New Skill: Linear!
Exasperated, I collapsed face first into the grassy field. My buddy planted his sword on the ground, leaning towards it with a relieved smile on his face. I glanced at my HUD. His HP was a bit more than half. Mine was slightly over thirty percent.
Grinning uncontrollably, I exclaimed out. "YEAH! TAKE THAT! WE FREAKING DID IT!"

"…that was…really intense..." My buddy panted.
I grunted and turned so that was lying on my back. "Yeah…whew. I know that we don't…really 'die' if our HP reaches zero, but man…" replied as I tried to catch my breath.
"I think…that's enough excitement for me today…I'm gonna head back to the starting city." He approached me and held an arm out.
I looked at him and shook my head. "I wanna rest and reflect for a minute before I wander for a bit more."
He held his hand back. "Sure…well, I guess I'll see you around." He turned around and started to walk away.
I just realized something. I sat up and turned to him. "Hey!" I called out.
He turned around. "Yes?"
"I never really caught your name."
"Oh, that's right." He agreed. "I also forgot to ask your name as well."
"Right…" I let out a smile. "My name's Riwet. Nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you, Riwet." He said before he bowed. "My name is Sefton."
"So…I guess I'll see you around?"
"Yup. I'll leave you to it."
"Alright. See ya."
With that, Sefton walked away, and I laid back down on the grassy ground. I thought about everything that happened, from looking at the Aincrad's gorgeous scenery to fighting the monsters that call this place home…
This is just the best.
Man, this game's pretty awesome! And I can't get enough of it!

After about half an hour of wandering the fields outside, I walked back to the Town of Beginnings and wandered around the city for a bit.
Dire Wolf - An imposing monster that hits hard, but has a predictable attack pattern and very low HP. They're also too sensitive to sudden movements, and so they're vulnerable to feints. It must be designed that way to teach people who rush recklessly and scare the shit out of new players. Right, better make a memo of that.
I headed for a weapons shop near the inn I was renting. After selling the loot I earned from killing those two wolves, I bought a Wooden Shield and an Iron Spear, which is about the same size as my starting spear.
As I found out, the reason why my spear was a bit short was that there were two sizes of polearms. The one I got is classified as a Short Polearm – ranging from 120 cm to 150cm. Anything longer than that fits the standard Polearm classification – large and in charge and designed strictly for two-handed use. I'm sticking with short polearms for now. I like how it felt and I'm able to comfortably use it one-handed, leaving my right hand free to equip a shield or something.
I strolled back to the inn, went up to the roof of the building, and stood near the edge, and once again, enjoyed the view, now safe against danger.
"Fuu…goodbye, my social life. Well…didn't have much, anyway." I muttered to myself, grinning.
With the success of virtual reality devices, a Japanese video game company called Argus took things to the next level. I don't exactly know what kind of magic they did, but they created the NerveGear, a device that literally drew people away from the waking world, and into the land of virtual reality. The lead designer of the NerveGear, Kayaba Akihiko, also spearheaded the development of a game to come with it.
Sword Art Online. The very first Virtual Reality Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, set in the floating castle of Aincrad and filled with powerful monsters and equally powerful loot. Taking advantage of the unparalleled immersion provided by the NerveGear's FullDive system, it offered the most immersive experience yet. Everything was ridiculously detailed, from the individually swaying blades of grass to the small threads of my clothes.
Honestly, the FullDive technology was one of the most important things I considered when I was contemplating on buying a NerveGear at launch. Pretty much anything hyped up to a ridiculous degree had a very high risk of under-delivering. I was also contented in playing conventional video games. After experiencing it first-hand, though, I have no regrets.
I'm pretty thankful that I enjoy playing video games so much. 5 years ago, the nine-year-old me thought that I'd be overwhelmed when I moved from my hometown in Canada to here in Japan. Fortunately, I was able to quickly adapt to the culture, the people I have met accepted me, and I was able to transfer my Steam account. Hey, I spent a lot of money on my games, and games kept me company when I was still new and didn't know anybody. And then this game happened, and it was like a dream come true.
When I was done musing and feeling sentimental, I remembered that I have something to do IRL. The sun was setting, and the sky was tinted orange. It's probably linked to Japan's time zone, so I guess it was time to go.
"Haahh…it was fun while it lasted. Homework's not gonna finish itself…" I sighed and opened my Player Menu and looked for the Log Out button.
"After I'm done with homework, I'll probably have some late-night gaming sessions… pretty sure there's gonna be some negative effects on my body if I play too much…meh, whatever…"
"…huh?"
My fingers stopped.
The Log Out button's grayed out. No matter how hard I tried to press it, it won't respond. That's weird. I should probably ask someone about this.
Suddenly, a blue light engulfed me.
Next thing I knew, I was at the center of the city, along with a lot of players. I asked around, and nobody knew what was going on.
And then, he appeared. Kayaba Akihiko. In his giant GM avatar and clothed in a flowing garb and a hood that concealed his face.
He spoke about how we can't log out unless we beat all one hundred floors. How if we die in the game the NerveGear's gonna fuck our brains up. And to make it even more perverse, he made our avatars look like us in real life. He's really hammering down the fact that this was now our reality.
As he disappeared, I stood there, stunned, understanding but denying every word he said. My mind was reeling. My hands and knees were shaking. My head hung low and it took everything out of me to not fall on my knees and break down into tears. I noticed a lot of players around me doing just that.
I saw Sefton amongst the crowd. He was on his knees, and his arms were limp on his sides. His face was frozen, and his mouth agape. His eyes were opened wide, blankly staring at the sunset sky where he was before he disappeared. I tried to call out for him, but my voice came out as a rasped, inaudible whisper.
This was just too much. Something that existed as a means of entertainment was twisted into something that was too cruel to even exist. We were trapped in here, without any choice but to conform to his rules.
Not able to take it anymore, I absently went back to my room in the inn. I laid on my bed, looking at the ceiling. I noticed that my vision was blurry, and my eyes felt hot and watery.
I wept in the silence of my room, defeated and in denial. I couldn't believe what happened.
…I think I've had enough of this fucking game.

A/N: Hello! Welcome to my very first fanfic, "A Worthwhile Endeavor". AWE for short. The acronym is a happy coincidence.
First and foremost, I want to thank Gabriel Blessing. His fanfic "The Hill of Swords" was the very first fanfiction I read to completion. I was so engrossed in reading it that I finished it in less than a week, despite me having a busy school life. I also want to thank every single person who has made a fic. Your amazing fanfictions are the ones that inspired me to make my own content.
Now, onto the notes. This story is probably classified as a "self-insert fic". While I'll mostly base his personality and morality to my own, I'll give him some, if not all of my disgusting weaknesses, and I'll also do my best to develop him into a worthwhile character. I am pretty one dimensional after all *lol*.
I get my information primarily from the SAO wiki. I find it weird that all skills are labeled as Sword Skills even if it's a skill for daggers, axes, etc. So, for the purpose of this story, I'm renaming Sword Skills to Weapon Skills. In addition, I feel that some Skills are ubiquitous enough to be used by multiple types of weapons.
While it might not make sense to the setting, I will make shout-outs and references to video games released in the 2000s and early 2010s. I just can't help myself. Also, I think that comparing the things Riwet sees on SAO to things that already exist will make my job at writing descriptions easier.
Riwet will have a little adventure of his own, but he'll meet a lot, if not most of the cast, and then some. I also plan on making him present on many of the canon stuff, possibly even changing the outcome.
However, I will not, in any way, shape, or form, make him an overpowered Marty Stu. While I see Riwet as my reflection who's gonna have a noticeable influence on the world of SAO, it's not my intention to make him the op hax, harem master, most important character in all of AWE. If I feel that he's stuck that way and I can't do anything to salvage him, I will kill him and move on with the story.
Speaking of the story, aside from giving Riwet his own adventures, I'm planning on following the canon as much as I can, except for the times I won't. As I said, some events might play a little bit different.
I'll try to post updates within 35-40 days of the last update, but I might take longer, so no promises.

Joseph fetched some groceries on his way towards his house.
He made sure that he had at least a month's worth of groceries so that he didn't have to go out every day.
Taking out the business card from his pocket. He glanced at it for a moment before throwing it into the trash. Afterwards, he glanced around and after making sure that there was no one nearby. He took out his smartphone and opened the main website of Victory.
Finally, there was some news about the lifting of the maintenance. 
P.H Works worked faster that everyone had expected and the emergency maintenance was scheduled to be lifted later this night. This gave excitement to Joseph as he hurriedly went into his room and cooked some dinner for him to eat.
He ate while scrolling through the forums of Victory.
Within the forums, there was a particular trending post that had the title.
[Unbelievable Duel! Six Digits in Damage! A three-second duel!]
A bitter smile emerged on Joseph's face "Just what kind of a title is this?"
He opened the forum post and saw that the replay of what happened back at the Grand Internet Cafe was embedded within it and the number of comments about the post had already reached ten thousand plus.
[Weak Left Arm, Strong Right Arm says: What the fuck? The duel ended in three seconds? Wait, isn't that a Meteor's Descent? That's one of the Ultimate Skills for Elementalist and he dodged it and somehow teleported behind that beauty? Wait, could it be that he's an Assassin?]
[I'm Really Not Rifle says: @Weak Left Arm, Strong Right Arm. Bro, are you stupid? He clearly doesn't even have a weapon so how can you say that he's an Assassin? I say that he's probably a main-class advanced Hunter, possibly a Jester or a Harlequin...]
[Weak Left Arm, Strong Right Arm says: @I'm Really Not Rifle. Bro, it seems like you're the retarded one here. Have you seen a Harlequin or Jester teleport like that? You tripping man... Can I get what you're smoking too, or what?]

Joseph continuously laughed as he scrolled through the comments of the forum post.
 There were a lot of sensible theories as to how the battle ended in a mere three seconds and how Joseph teleported behind Solar Equinox. 
But none of them were correct nor even close which made it particularly hilarious for Joseph.
Some theories said that Joseph had an unknown Epic Class, while some said that his class was definitely at the Legend Rank since it was quite mysterious. 
However, that theory was debunked by the keyboard warriors saying that if Joseph was really a Legendary Ranked Player... 
His name would've already popped up left and right in the Universal Rankings.
Their discussion prompted Joseph to learn more about the world of Victory. 
Since there was still two hours before the lifting of the maintenance. 
Joseph decided that he would not let himself procrastinate anymore.
 He opened up a fan-made wiki about the world of Victory and studied there.
From the wiki, it was said that the world of Victory was a huge continent on a planet that was at sixty-percent water and forty-percent land. The entire landmass of the Planet Gaia was named as the continent of Victory and the Empire of Truedawn reigned within the continent of Victory.
There were three Kingdoms in the continent, and at the far north of the continent was the Kingdom of Absolute Frost. 
At the western side of the continent was the Kingdom of Burning Heaven while at the south-eastern side of the continent was the Kingdom of Nether.
There were a lot of Kingdoms and Cities in the continent back then but after a brutal colonization expedition by the Empire of Truedawn, only three Kingdoms remained...
The territories of these three kingdoms were incomparably vast, yet they were peaceful with each other. It was as if they had no ambitions nor intentions of increasing their territories. At least, this was the impression that everyone was under.
Those who knew more about the three kingdoms understood that everything wasn't so peaceful...
This was the reason why players needed to properly choose their kingdom of affiliation since your kingdom affiliation couldn't be changed after you selected what Kingdom you'd support when creating your character.
It was recommended within the wiki that players should choose the Kingdom of Burning Heaven since its bustling economy was second only to the Empire of Truedawn. As for the second recommendation, it was surprisingly the Kingdom of Nether. 
The Kingdom of Nether had the worst economy compared to the two, but why was this Kingdom recommended more than the Kingdom of Absolute Frost or Everlasting Frost? Well, it was because due to the fact that the Kingdom of Absolute Frost was far north and extremely cold.
If not for the fact that it had more natural resources than the other Kingdoms which made it suitable for people who wanted to have a production class, then it wouldn't even be listed in this recommendation.
Joseph skimmed through all the information about the Kingdoms and he summarized them all in a single paragraph describing the three Kingdoms.
First, the Kingdom of Burning Heaven.
The Kingdom of Burning Heaven is a liberal kingdom. 
This Kingdom could be considered as the sex capital of the continent of Victory. If Joseph was to make a real-life analogy. This Kingdom was like the ancient city of Pompeii. All sorts of people in all walks of life often visited this kingdom but they had something in common for their visit.
It was sex...
The players, especially males directly chose this kingdom due to the abundance of sex.
But they were disappointed when they learned that the concept of consent still existed within the Kingdom. Rape had severe consequences and once caught by the system, you could be subject to a permanent ban to all virtual games that couldn't be appealed.
As for the Kingdom of Absolute Frost...
Despite the all year round coldness and snow. The people in this place were the warmest and the most hospitable people in the entire continent of Victory. Their residents were advocates for human rights, and they also practiced equality on a daily basis.
With virtually no slave trade, the people in this Kingdom could be considered as the happiest residents in the entire world of Victory.
The Kingdom of Absolute Frost believed in a lot of gods along with the Kingdom of Burning Heaven. Quite opposite to them, the Kingdom of Nether only had faith for the Goddess, the Divine Goddess Rhinna. 
Believing in such a pristine Goddess also made their views regarding love, quite innocent and pure...
A person within the Kingdom of Nether could only marry a single person for their entire life. There was no concept of polygamy in the Kingdom of Nether for every marriage was sacred and sanctified by their beloved Divine Goddess Rhinna.
As for the Kingdom of Absolute Frost, you could have as many wives as you want as long as you loved them equally and could equally support them. The Kingdom of Burning Heaven was the same as the Absolute Frost when it came to marriages, but laxer than the former.
Interesting... Interesting... So, if I wanted to have a harem for myself, I should go to the Kingdom of Absolute Frost or Burning Heaven? Wait! What the fuck am I reading? Didn't I come here to read about more information about the tiers of classes yet why am I getting distracted again? Ugh...
Joseph facepalmed when he found out that he derailed from his original train of thought.
Reclaiming his focus, Joseph struck the iron while it's still hot as he opened up the information that he required and skimmed through it.
According to the wiki... 
Victory classes were divided into, Hidden, Unique, Epic, Legend, and Myth. There were millions of people having a class with the Hidden Tier, while the number of people that has a Unique-Tiered Class was at the several hundreds of thousands.
As for the number of people with the Epic-Tiered Class, they were at the tens of thousands, while the Legends could only be counted by a single finger since there was only a single known Legendary Player in the world of Victory.
As for the Myths, there were rumors about a system notification informing everyone about the appearance of the myth but it was a piece of unconfirmed news and it may probably be even an NPC instead of a player. 
After all...
It was a known fact that NPCs were far powerful than players in the current state of the game.
It was not out of the ordinary for a Legendary NPC to ascend to the Myths. 
Interesting... If I reveal to the world that I'm a Mythical Ranked Player... Would I also have my name and portrait placed in this wiki? That will definitely happen. All I need is to gauge if it is worth it to reveal myself to the world or should I hide who I am?
Joseph remembered that there were several system notifications informing him that he could reveal his name to the world and enter the Universal Rankings.
 He dismissed those system notifications since when they appeared since they didn't really appear at the right time...
"Let's think about it later..."
Joseph decided to set that thought aside for a moment as he clicked on another set of information.
This time, it was about the system of Item Enhancement in the world of Victory.
Item Enhancement in the world of Victory required the usage of the "Essence of the World". 
These Essences could only be farmed or discovered, but could never be made by human hands.
The enhancement of items has a hundred percent chance of success for the first six enhancements. After +6, there's a specific chance of failure and every failure, degrades, not only the number of enhancement on the item but also its durability. 
Ten percent of durability would be lost for every enhancement failure.
Once an item's durability reached zero. It would be permanently destroyed...
The max durability of an item could only be recovered by sacrificing the same item to increase the maximum durability of the higher-grade counterpart of that item. 
The punishment for failing an enhancement was quite harsh but there was an option to guarantee its success.
 It was through sacrificing three times more "Essence of the World" than normal.
It was called, "Brute-Force Enhancement".
Using this method, success would be guaranteed but it was incredibly wasteful than the well-known and most used method of increasing one's chances for a successful enhancement which was known as failure stacking.
Each enhancement failure gave the user a higher chance of enhancement success in their next enhancement. 
Users can stack these enhancement-failure bestowed chances so that they could upgrade a piece of higher-ranking equipment than the equipment they were using to stack their failures.
Accessory enhancement doesn't require "Essence of the World"...
To successfully enhance an Accessory, one required the same accessory that's subject for enhancement as the sacrifice for a chance to increase the grade of the Accessory. 
If the user failed on this enhancement, the Accessory subject to the enhancement along with the sacrifice disappears.
These are the tiers dedicated to items.
[White] - Uncommon
[Green] - Common
[Blue] - Rare
[Purple] - Epic
[Orange] - Legendary
[Gold] - Golden
[Black] - Mythical
Armors and Weapons can be upgraded to +20.
Accessories can only be upgraded three times.
"What an incredibly harsh system of enhancement. The rarity of the items needed for enhancement alone is incredibly rare, yet the system is also like this? That's like a slap to the face of everyone who is trying their best to farm for those enhancement materials!" Joseph whispered in astonishment.
He closed the wiki and checked for the time.
Great, there's only about thirty minutes left before the maintenance ends... What else should I do before the maintenance ends? Hmmm, should I go and clean some parts of this house? Or should I go watch some dank memes on the internet? Nah, it's too unproductive...
Joseph sat there, a frown could be seen on his face as he was thinking about what he should do to pass the time.
Wait! I should pay Lily first! 
Joseph's eyes brightened and he hurriedly transferred several thousands of money towards Lily.
Dang I almost forgot about that debt, but now that my debt is paid... Wheeew, It really feels good to be debt-free... 
Joseph leaned on his chair and stared at the ceiling of his mansion.
 The room became silent, apart from the whistling of the fans within his laptop, there was no other noise present in the area.
Now that I think about it. I'm actually pretty lonely. It's quite sad that apart from the world of Victory. I literally have nothing else to do, nor to visit.
 I don't even have a hobby apart from playing games. Sigh... How did I become like this? I was a pretty good table tennis player and even had the chance to go nationals back then, but thanks to that tragedy...
Sigh... I should probably visit that club sometime.
Joseph remembered that he was once a member of the prestigious and one and only Table Tennis club of the City of Sibu.
He was also one of their top players. 
Unfortunately, after that tragedy...
He lost touch with them and the friends whom he thought that he could trust with his back had forgotten him. Even once, they had never even contacted him to ask for his well-being at the least.
This fact made Joseph incredibly bitter and sad as he whispered, "I guess they still hate me for ditching the nationals just so I could tend to the funeral of Papa and Mama..."
"But can they really blame me? Both my parents just died for fuck's sake, yet why they can't understand that I can't go nationals at that time?"
Joseph shook his head and placed these thoughts into the deep recesses of his mind. 
He opened up his browser and searched for the latest dank memes to pass the time, but then a desktop notification informed him about the arrival of an email.
Joseph casually glanced on the desktop notification, but his eyes widened in shock when he realized that it was an official email from P.H Works.
Click!
Joseph never clicked as fast as he did ever in his life than what he had done right now.
Opening that email, he saw that it was a message of congratulations from the developers...
Dear, Joseph Entrada.
We have seen you struggle from the start of your quest until the end. We applaud your determination, willpower and the courage to keep on fighting. Congratulations on being the first Mythical Ranked player of Victory!
Enclosed within this email is a 3D Printable Access Keycard that will grant you access to the Headquarters of P.H Works in the Capital City of Pilipinas...

Joseph didn't know what to say.
He speechlessly downloaded the attachment within the email and 3D Printed the Access Keycard on the 3D Printer that he had on his desk. A few minutes later, he now had the Access Keycard for the headquarters of P.H Works. 
It would be a lie to say that Joseph didn't feel any excitement.
But setting that excitement aside, Joseph felt somewhat weird.
It was the first time for him to bask on the prestige and glory of being the first Mythical Ranked player so he didn't know how to react.
 But since he understood that as the first Mythical Ranked Player, he would encounter more situations like this in the future so he must know how to act in regards to those situations. 
Let's practice some acting techniques for now. I know how to act like a tough charlatan, but I don't know how to act like a dignified charlatan!
Joseph opened his browser and researched some videos about the past dictators of the world and how they acted throughout their careers. 
Time swiftly passed and when Joseph was done with his self-taught acting lessons...
The emergency maintenance was finally done and he returned to the world of Victory.
As soon as he logged-in, several system notifications popped out and quickly obstructed his view.
