Martin and Bill spent the morning arguing with the police. They wanted to stay and see this thing through. The police wanted everybody gone.
"There is close to a hundred thousand dollars' worth of equipment here," Bill said. "I plan on staying and keeping an eye on it."
"Look at all the cops," the Captain said. "Do you really think that someone is going to walk up and steal it while we are here?"
"Let me call my producers," Bill said. That was easier said than done since the only cell signal was on a hill a mile and a half away. Finally, they patched him through one of the patrol cars.
"Hello," Bill said, "I need to speak to Mr. Lohengrin ... Yes, it's Bill. Things have gotten very complicated.  The police want us to vacate the premises... No, we don't have time to pack the equipment...The crew is gone already...Yes, I see...Right, thank you, sir."
Bill climbed out of the car. "Mr Lohengrin stated very emphatically that we are to cooperate in every way possible with the police. We are to vacate the site as soon as you sign for all the equipment. Any damages incurred will be the responsibility of your department."
Martin thought the Captain was going explode on the spot. He radioed the Chief and had a long conversation in the car. They couldn't hear what he was saying, but it involved a lot of hand waving.
"The Chief says you can stay, but you sign a release, and if you get hurt, you're on your own. If you get in the way, I'll arrest you and figure out charges later."
Bill and Martin quickly signed the hastily scribbled release forms and went to the canteen. The squad leader for the SWAT team rolled his eyes at them, but didn't interrupt his briefing of his team and the other officers who were standing with them. He waved his hand. They headed off in all directions.
"I suppose you think you're going to be heroes?" the team leader said.
"No," Martin said, "we're here to safeguard the equipment and make coffee."
"Well then," the team leader said, "get to it. Call me Sargent Truscot."
Martin preferred tea over coffee. His father had liked coffee and was very particular about how Martin made it. He drank coffee because it made a link between him and Sargent Truscot, however tenuous. He put extra sugar in it and thought of Philson. He raised his coffee cup and mentally toasted the cop.
Truscot went to the SWAT truck where the equipment was to track his teams. The search went on all day. Nobody saw anything, though one trigger happy rookie blew a squirrel to kingdom come. The Captain came and drank coffee, but said nothing. As soon as the cup was empty he went back to his car. Truscot called in the teams before sunset.
"Ok," he said, "I know you've been walking around all afternoon. So here's what we're going to do. These fine gentlemen will rustle up some supper for you, then you're going to walk around all night. There's a cop killer out there, and we're going find him, fill him full of holes, then arrest him so they can hang the S.O.B."
Martin had already started on supper. Bill was designated chopper for the salad. There was a huge grill so Martin just threw meat onto it until it was covered. He had everything almost cooked when the last team returned.
"Hey, rookie, maybe he'll cook your squirrel for you!"
"Only if you skin it first," Martin said. "Who likes their steaks rare, and who wants them all buggered up?"
Martin did dishes while Sargent Truscot briefed the teams again.
"You've got a sense of the lay of the land," he said. "Remember that. Whatever this thing is, it moves fast. So keep your eyes peeled. SWAT, use your infrared. Don't use flashlights, you won't be able to see anything. There's near enough a full moon, use it. Don't get trigger happy. I don't want anybody to get shot by our own guys. If you see this killer, take it down. Use your training and we'll all see morning."
The teams went out quietly and quickly. Once again Sargent Truscot could follow their progress by the cameras on the SWAT helmets. This time he invited Martin and Bill to join him in the truck. 
"Don't say anything, don't touch anything. If anyone asks, you were never here." 
They found seats where they were out of the way and still could see a little of the screens.
"Zone One, clear."
"Zone Three, clear."
"Zone Two, the rookie fell into the bog."
The teams checked in and moved to the next space on the grid. Nothing happened more exciting than the rookie's stumble until just after eleven.
"Team Six here, I think I saw something!"
"Affirmative," Truscot said. "Be careful."
"Holy crap!" someone said. 
"No chatter!" Truscot said. Then they heard gunfire and shouting. 
"I shot it, but it's still coming!"  There was more gunfire, then a scream that was cut short.
"Team Five, Six is in trouble. Get over there. Extreme caution."
"Tell them to aim for the heart," Martin said.
"What?" Truscot looked up at Martin.
"Olivia didn't stop until I shot her heart."
"All teams, all teams, target the heart. Repeat, target the heart."
"Team Five in position. There's no sign of Team Six, damn!' More shots and shouts.
"Team Three here, we see something. In pursuit."
"Team One here, will back up"
"Head bearing 276 degrees, Team One," Truscot said. "Be sure of your target. Team Four, report, report Team Four.
"Team Four, Bryson's down, I'm in the bog up to my neck, but I don't think it sees me. Oh sh.., sorry Sarg, but it just ripped Bryson open and ate his heart." They heard rapid shooting. "God, it won't die."
"The heart, damn it, shoot the heart!" 
"It's down," Martin heard, then the sound of the rookie being sick.
"Teams, check in," Truscot said. "Check in." There was nothing but gasping and the occasional shot. Curses and more shooting, then screams and nothing.

Kevin was quite busy to deal with his work. he was reviewing the CCTV footage and trying to find the recidivist of the serial homicide over and over again. he was doing it even since, the homicide started.

all of sudden one subordinates comes and flipped the one file. he perched beside him and  sighed. " forensic report has been come out of this case too. the trails of the event suggests his death is due to poison. it was actually murder. in his neck, there was one pore. we were right. and we figure out, there was two foot print of scrambling. one was small size then another." 

Kevin was looking on the report and he snapped. " you are saying. it's revealed there was one woman too. "

" I am not sure. probably he would be a short man. " 

on the other side, suddenly, Laila approached to Vickie. there was no one left this time in the class except Vickie and Bryson. they were almost to go out of the class. Laila was also one student of the same faculty.  she was known as a gorgeous and beautiful girl of her faculty. she stopped them and swayed. she  asked to him. " hi, Vickie,  nearly, one restaurant has been opened. everyone says. there food is best. can we go to give it try. " 

he took a glimpse at her and denied her with decant way. " no thanks, I am little bit busy today..how about Bryson. I think he will definitely like to go with you." 

as Bryson heard of it. he gets up straight and said. " sure, I am not busy. I have free time to company you."  he shied a little bit. Vickie  knew he has a crush on her. 


she glared at him and pouted. " it's alright. I can go myself. you don't have to bother yourself. " and she strode off to out of the class. 

Bryson' s face tinge had already been faded away. he sat again on his seat. he looks gloomy now. he was preoccupied. he asked him. " am I so ugly? that no one girl likes me. I think, at this rate, I can never be able to date any one.  " 

Vickie turned his head to him. he  looks keenly in his face. he approached very close him. he thought to do prank with him.he explained. " I think you have just one problem. your eyebrows, it's enough to frightened any girl. and your lips its ....."  he was drifting hand on his  lips. 

as Jessica comes to take her bag. she looks scenery of it. she paused. she was interested to see them. she gets warily. she was smiling to see it. she said. " I didn't expect I will get hot gossip here. I think this post will be definitely big news. " 

but she was not warily so much. as she draws out her smartphone to take them pictures. she bumped into one bench and she stumbled. she was striving to get up right now. 

both of them take a looks at the direction of sound. she wanted to hide herself. but she failed. she was holding  her  smartphone. and she was grinning feebly to convenient herself. 

she said. " sorry guys, I have no intention to disturb you. I was just passer by. I forgot to take my bag." 

Bryson halted her. he gets up and explained. " wait, you have misunderstanding. it is not what you think...." 

Vickie was stuffing his bag. he also gets up straight and gave clarify. " no you don't  have any misunderstanding. " and he walked over her side. 

she was overwhelmed. that he was coming over her side. she shrinked herself against the wall. her face becomes red as he leaned to her side. and when she was lost in her imagination. he draws her phone. he took a glance of her phone. he uttered. " what a  pity. you aren't success to take a single pictures of us."

by the time, Bryson had also been come there  
to see her phone. he inhaled a deep breath. " that's a relief. " 

she was still lossing in her utopian. she was just staring at him foolishly. he rised his eyebrows and grinned. " okay I will help you. " 

and he snakes his hand around Bryson neck. he was  careless right now. and what he found. out of blue, Vickie takes his pictures with him and returned it to Jessica. he said. " I think it should be enough to you, right. " 

Bryson was flabbergasted. he asked him swiftly. " what on earth are you trying to do?"

Lisa is the eldest sister of her siblings. she never believed in marriage. she has two little sister Rosy and Heloice. one brother Oliver. in her dad eye, all of three sister, is docile and submissive. 

 for her dad sake, she ends up to marry with an enigmatic and affluent, handsome person. her life changed by then.

 she never thought that trouble is waiting for her. along with her, her siblings also get into this disaster...

"Hey, Ben! Stop playing with your magi-phone already!" Bryson yells at his friend while pulling him by the collar. Regrettably, Ben doesn't even flinch and seems to be rooted from his spot, it maybe the because of Ben's robust build. 
"Hmmmm?" Ben gives Bryson a sidelong glance. "Just let me finish this okay; it's a rank game, so I can't afford to quit." Ben reasoned and once again fix his eyes on the screen of his magi-phone.
"Huuuuh! It's almost time dude! Look, all of our classmates has already gone to the school gym!" Bryson spat narrowing his sky-blue eyes. 
"Hmm? Oh yeah! Their wiped out! Let's push! Time to end this!" Ben shouts with glee without even bothering to look at Bryson.
"Don't hmm me! What will we do if sir comes?! Oh whatever! I'm gonna go on ahead don't blame me la---" Just when Bryson finally decides to abandon his stubborn friend and turn to leave the room, he saw a man standing on the doorway, arms crossed in his chest and looking at them ominously with his light brown eyes. 
"Oi Bryson, Ben. What are you two still doing in here huh?" The man asked with a tranquil but overpowering voice.
"Oh, shi—" Every hair on Bryson's body stood on end when he hears that voice while Ben's body froze almost letting his magi-phone fall to the ground.
The man walks into them an ominous smile plastered on his face. "Ooooh, I seeee, you two are playing huh?" The man said looking down at them his eyes glowing.
"N-no sir, I-it's only B---"
"Yes sir, WE ARE playing sir!" Ben said with conviction in his voice.
"Wha---?!" Shocked at Ben's announcement Bryson look at Ben with a mixture of confusion and anger in his eyes.
"HOOH, and your proud huh?" The man said with a cold voice and a scary smile.
"N-no, l-like I sai----" Bryson tries to explain, but before he finished, a fist came down to his head and Ben's. A second later the two of them are following the man into the school gym looking down to the floor.

Cole Moss, a former Military Magic Officer (MMO) the official name of the military force of the United Front of Human Countries (UFHC) , although for some reason, he is presently a magic instructor in Blue High Magic Academy and our tyrant but dependable class adviser.
"Okay, now that EVERYONE IS HERE, we can start the magic training." He said while looking at us with a scary smile. 
Yeah, his still pissed.
"So, for starters let's have a review in Magical Science, since it is directly related to this subject and is the application of that said subject."
That's right, this tyrant instructor is in charge of teaching Practical Magic Combat although there is COMBAT in the title it is more of a self-defense class in which they teach us the students how to defend ourselves using magic. Well, I'm certain him being a former MMO is a considerable part of the reason why he is selected for this subject.
"As everyone knows we the humanity can't use magic normally unlike any other races and monsters, and that is because we lack something that the other race possesses." He turns his head and look in my way. "So, MR. BRYSON what is it that we lack?"
Shocked by the sudden question I stutter and failed to answer instantly. "…. U-um, t-the Magia Stone?"
Magia stone, mostly located at the center of gravity of those who are born with it. It serves as the catalyst in summoning the Magia; an energy found in every living being and the energy used when casting magic. Naturally, we the humanity equally possess the said energy although we lack the capacity to naturally summon it. In our history class, it is stated that our ancestors face many trials and tribulation because of this fact. 
Hearing my answer Mr. Tyrant, show Ben and me a smile as if telling us to listen, although I want to complain and say I'm listening, I know better than anyone else that doing that is a bad idea. 
"That's right." He continues. "That's why our ancestors invent the Magi-phones. The device that enabled us the Humanity dubbed as the Impaired Race to cast magic; a feat thought to be impossible in the past." The Tyrant once again shoot a cold look in our way. "Obviously, casting magic is not the sole function of Magi-phones, with many applications out there it can be used as a communication device, we can also watch videos and play games. Isn't that right MR. BRYSON and MR. BEN?"
"Eeeeek!!" 
"At any rate, you get my point; it is a revolutionary device." He continues nonchalantly. 
It's more than just a revolutionary device in my opinion though, more like a miraculous device. After all, in this day and age, not only humans but also other races utilize it because of its convenience. 
Mr. Tyrant takes his Magi-phone out of his pocket and wave it in front of us. "Because of the invention of this device, it becomes possible for everyone even ordinary civilians to wield magic. Naturally, it is a different story for the other races that is naturally born to wield it, but after the Great Race Unification and with the invention of the MSA the International Magic Council create the Civilians Magic Act. A law that prevents civilians from owning certain MSA specially the lethal ones."
After the Great Unification it said that the International Magic Council or IMC is formed. The council is made up of representatives in each of the existing race, and they promoted peace to the planet. They also produced many revolutionary inventions, one being the "MSA or Magic Sequence Application" which is essentially the replacement for Magic Spells, or maybe it will be more accurate to say that it is a Magic Spell in a form a Program? 
"At present we use MSA as a replacement of Magic Spells since we all know how convenient it is compared to casting Magic Spells." Mr. Tyrant activates his Magi-phone. I felt the rush of Magia coming out of his body and when he presses his Magi-phone a magic circle appears in his free left hand followed by the appearance of a marble sized fire; it hovers above the magic circle. "As you all know, MSA removed the need of Chant when casting magic, and because of that, we can cast magic with just one click in our phone making the casting faster and more convenient."
"Getting to my point, I'm sure you guys know about the Civilians Magic Act. Now, I sincerely hope none of you are in the possession of a Lethal Combat MSA and if anyone of you happens to be concealing one... I'm warning you now, if you are ever caught I'm not going to protect you, on the contrary I will be the first one to go after you and restrain you. I don't want to be the one responsible for ruining anybody's life especially my student, so please act accordingly. Is that clear?" He said with a look that will not accept a no for an answer.
Seeing that look sent shiver down my spine and a palpable tension hang in air. I look at my right-side where Ben is standing and just like everyone else, he is sweating profusely. We often forget it because of his nature, but this pressure is indeed worthy of the man who is a former MMO, and judging from his presence I'm sure that this man has survive many battlefields.
After practically threatening us, he smiles and the pressure suddenly vanished as if it isn't even there the first place. "So, now we will begin the live combat training in short, a sparring match! I want you guys to form pairs and spar." He said with an amused smile as if his presence earlier is just a lie. 
"Now begin!" He claps his hands energetically likely trying to ease the tension still lingering in our hearts. My classmates disperse and form pairs, I choose Ben as a sparring partner, one of the reasons is because I want to get back at him for his little prank earlier.
"Oh, I forgot, Ben, Bryson, you two are fighting me." 
Hmmm? I think I heard that wrong.



Sya's POV: 

 
 

Later, as we had breakfast at the table, it was super awkward. Bryson was eating his food without much thought but the other two had a sort of staring competition going on. I tried to catch Bryson’s eye. When he didn't look up, I nudged him under the table. 

 
 

What? He mouthed. 

 
 

I motioned towards Kane and Edi. Do something. I mouthed back. He simply shrugged before downing the rest of his cereal and juice and abruptly standing up. 

 
 

“Come on buddy, let's get ready for college,” saying this, he began to drag Kane out of the living room. I sighed. 

 
 

Stupid boys. 

 
 

"Thanks, cupcake. For letting me stay and for the breakfast,” Edi said later, as I walked him to the front door. “I'll be in the city for a while so I hope I keep seeing you. It was nice, to catch up like this after so long.” 

 
 

I smiled and nodded, “Thanks for dropping by Edi. I had fun.” 

 
 

He gave me a lopsided grin, “How couldn't I visit my sweet cupcake?” The playfulness in his eyes suddenly vanished and a more serious expression took over his features. 

 
 

I looked at him in confusion as he put his bag down and grabbed my shoulders. His eyes searched my face with their new-found seriousness as I waited for him to speak. 

 
 

"Cupcake, you know I love you and I just want you to be safe, right?" He began, his eyebrows drawn together in concern. I nodded. I knew for a fact that he thought of me as his younger sibling too. He was my only comfort back when I needed it. “I'm glad you got away from that wretched house and its inhuman inhabitants. Back then, I couldn’t do anything to protect you but now, I'm capable enough. So if you ever need me, need any sort of help, don't hesitate to call me okay? I left my number on your bedside table as well as my new address. Don't hesitate before asking, okay?” 

 
 

I smiled. The gratitude I felt at that moment was beyond explainable. I quickly wrapped my arms around his waist and pressed my cheek against his chest. He chuckled as he wrapped his arms around me, rubbing my back. 

 
 

When we pulled away, he comically pointed a finger at me, “And if that boyfriend of yours bothers you, tell me. I'll hunt him down and break his bones.” 

 
 

I almost laughed at that but refrained from telling him that Kane could easily rip him into two. Anyway, it felt nice hearing someone saying that to me. As a big brother figure. 

 
 

“Sure thing. Goodbye, Edi. Have a safe trip!” I told him and closed the front door behind him. 

 
 

But when I turned around to go in and get my bag, I collided with a hard chest instead. The scent immediately told me it was Kane and also because he wrapped his arms around me and inhaled through my hair. It was kind of weird, the way he always inhaled through my hair but since it made him happy, I never objected. I bet I smelled weird. 

 
 

"What are you doing?" I asked playfully, pulling away and looking up at him. Gosh, he was so tall. 

 
 

He grinned and shook his head. I reached up and played with his hair. 

 
 

“I uh- I know you did not like Edi staying here Kane,” I began, a little nervously. “But he's just my cousin. In fact, he's like a big brother to me. I'm sorry I didn't pay heed to you-" 

 
 

“Don't worry about it. I trust you,” he cut me off with a wave of his hand. 

 
 

“So I take it that you won't break his bones when you see him again?” I asked. 

 
 

“I can't really say,” he smirked. 

 
 

“Promise?” I pressed. 

 
 

He sighed, “Fine.” 

 
 

I smiled, “Thank you!” 

 
 

“Come on. We'll be late. Unless,” he smiled flirtatiously. “What do you say we ditch college and have some fun?” he leaned over but I gently pushed him away. 

 
 

“I'm already short on attendance for Calculus. Any more absentees and Mr. Harriot is going to make me eat all my test papers.” 

 
 

He laughed as he let me go get my bag. “How did you do on your test last week?” 

 
 

“Don't ask,” I muttered as he laced his fingers through mine and led me out the front door. “I got the first question wrong and the fourth. Got the fifth one right though.” 

 
 

“What about second and third?” he asked, pulling open the car door. 

 
 

“I didn't know the answer to them,” I simply stated. 

 
 

He laughed, “Wow, Sya. You really need tutoring. I'll ask Bryson to teach you a thing or two about Calculus.” 

 
 

“Really? Thanks!” I exclaimed. “Speaking of whom, isn't Bryson coming with us?” 

 
 

He shook his head, “He already left. Come on.” He motioned towards the open car door and I slid in. 

 
 

He started the car and smoothly pulled out of the front of the house. My heart hammered inside my chest. I had a feeling today was going to be pretty eventful.

"I got an A+ on my American History test,” Hannah said, waving a piece of paper in the air with a smile on her face. 

Hannah always had a strong hold on Historical as well as Literature related subjects. It wasn't a surprise that she got a high score but to her it was. Every time. 

 
 

Bryson and Kane laughed as several students cast looks at our table. It was lunchtime and we were inside the crowded cafeteria. 

 
 

“So to celebrate it, we're going shopping!” Of course. 

 
 

I wanted to say yes but I knew I couldn't. “No Hannah, I can't. You know I'm saving up for the college fee and my own expenses. I know I live with Kane at the moment but I will have to move out someday,” I told her. 

 
 

The poor girl looked crestfallen. Kane frowned and Bryson also looked quite serious. In short, I had killed the mood. 

 
 

"It's completely okay, Sya,” Kane spoke up. “I'll pay for whatever you shop. I can do that much at least.” He looked at me with hurt swimming in his eyes. 

 
 

"That's the thing, Kane. I don't want to depend upon you completely. I’ll always feel like a burden and I don’t want that. I want to save up and start a life where I'm responsible for myself not you,” I tried to explain. 

 
 

“I'm not saying I'll bear your expenses. I'll just help you out until you have decent enough savings. That's all. There's nothing about you being a burden,” Kane argued. 

 
 

I shook my head, “Kane, that is sweet of you but I don't like living like this. At your mercy.” 

 
 

Kane’s face hardened at that and he stood up, pushing the chair behind him, and left the cafeteria. Bryson immediately got up as well. 

 
 

“Uh, don't worry Sya. You know how emotional he can be sometimes. He'll come around soon,” he offered with a helpless sort of smile. “See you in Geography babe.” He kissed Hannah on the cheek before hurrying after Kane. 

 
 

I sighed and rubbed my head. As much as I was trying to avoid being one of those girls who mooch off of their boyfriends, people were trying to make me into that girl. I looked at Hannah and she was staring at me with her eyes narrowed. 

 
 

"What?" I asked. 

 
 

"You know he only wants to help you,” she quipped. 

 
 

"Hannah, you don't understand. I don't like depending on him this much. What if he gets irritated or worse, tired of me? What if he realizes what a leech I am and leaves me?” I mumbled, playing with my fingers. “I can take money from him today, tomorrow, but not all the time. He's going to hate me for the extra baggage I carry and dump me for sure.” 

 
 

I hated being afraid of someone leaving me. Before, it was different. I had nothing to lose. Helena and John could be tortured to death for all I cared but not Kane. Not him. I loved him way too much and I guessed it was too late with the whole depending thing. I couldn't imagine a day without him. 

 
 

Hannah's face softened and she placed a comforting hand on my arm. 

 
 

"Sy, I know how you feel. But you have to understand Kane as well. For him, he's helping you, not carrying you around like a burden. And judging by the way he looks at you, I know he's in love with you. I mean, you can literally see the heart's eyes. So let him pay for you for now and when you save up enough you can just pay him back or something. You have to let him in completely Sya. Into your heart and soul,” she spoke softly. 

 
 

I smiled softly. She was right. And such a good friend. She knew how to calm me down whenever I hyperventilated and I knew how to strike her calming nerves. She quickly got up and pulled me to my feet as well. “Thanks, Hannah.” 

 
 

"Now go and tell him you'll accept his card for now and let’s go shopping! I will not let you ruin my celebration of my A+!” she pulled me towards the café door. We stepped out into the hall, well it was mostly me being dragged by my best friend anyway. 

 
 

“Look, I have Geography and Gym after this. I bet you have Calculus?” she asked. 

 
 

“Nope,” I shook my head. “Already had that this morning. I only have French left.” 

 
 

She paused and looked at me, “You take French?” 

 
 

I nodded, “Extra credit.” 

 
 

She passed me a naughty smile, “This means, you and Kane have plenty of time to make up.” She stretched the word ‘plenty' longer than necessary and linked her arms with mine. 

 
 

“What? No,” I blushed slightly. 

 
 

“Kane and Sya sitting in the tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G,” she sang loudly, puckering her lips. The entire student body was looking at her, girls throwing daggers at me. 

 
 

I quickly covered her mouth with my hand, “Shh! Do you want the girls to murder me?” 

 
 

She laughed and shook her head. A boy suddenly showed up in front of us. He was a varsity player, I could tell by his jacket. He smiled nervously, running a hand through his ginger hair. 

 
 

Both me and Hannah paused, looking at each other then at him. 

 
 

“Hi,” he smiled. I had to say though, he was kind of cute. “I'm Greg. I'm in your American History class.” He was talking mainly to Hannah now. 

 
 

She seemed stunned for a moment. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted Bryson walking out of the boy’s locker room. 

 
 

“Hi uh- Greg,” she answered awkwardly. 

 
 

“I was wondering if you had time to grab a coffee sometime?” He said, shifting from one foot to another. 

 
 

Hannah looked shocked. Visibly startled. It was so comical yet ironic because he was so cute. It was such a waste. 

 
 

“Hey, I'd love to stick around to watch how this turns out but I have a boyfriend to make up with. See you later,” I whispered into her ear and quickly slipped away before she could grab me. 

 
 

I ran down the hall and stopped Bryson, who still hadn't noticed Greg talking to Hannah. “Bryson, hey!” 

 
 

He'd been looking at the ground, his shoulders tense. He looked up when he heard me and smiled. “Oh, hey Sya. Kane's in there.” He pointed towards the door he'd just come out of. 

 
 

“Thank you,” I said gratefully. 

 
 

“Ah, no problem. What are friends for? Just see one when you have boyfriend problems,” he grinned. 

 
 

I smiled evilly, “Absolutely. By the way, I'll be happy to give you advice on your relationship too, Bryson.” 

 
 

He frowned, “Why would you?” 

 
 

“Oh well, you know,” I touched his muscular arm and gently turned his body towards Greg and his girlfriend. “When Greg asks Hannah out and she dumps you and says yes. I mean, he does play varsity.” 

 
 

Bryson’s face was worth watching. He looked so jealous, I thought he'd turn green. “That won't be necessary, Sya. I'll make a football out of that Greg before that happens.” 

 
 

He quickly walked towards the two while I laughed before pushing open the locker room door. It was empty since lunch was still going on. It smelled vaguely of sweat and heavily of male perfume. 

 
 

I spotted Kane leaning against the lockers, looking at the ground deep in thought. A frown was etched on his face. 

 
 

I took a deep breath to calm my nerves down and walked towards him. He immediately looked up as he heard me approach and took a step towards me. His eyes looked so sad and hurt. I mentally cursed myself for doing this to him. My precious Kane was sad because of me. I quickly ran the remaining distance and threw my arms around his neck. I guess he wasn't that mad at me because he almost instantly put his arms around me and tugged me closer. 

 
 

"I'm sorry, Kane. I really am. I didn't mean to hurt you,” I said, my voice breaking because I was trying hard not to cry. I pulled back and looked into his eyes. 

 
 

“Why would you think the things I do for you make you be at my mercy?” He asked, hurt dripping from his voice. My heart clenched painfully and the tears I'd been trying to hold formed into my eyes. “I help you because I love you and not because I’m simply doing charity or want to own you.” 

 
 

“No!” I exclaimed, shaking my head vigorously “I didn't mean it like that, I swear!” 

 
 

He didn’t say anything and I took it as a sign to finally pour my heart out to him and let him in, insecurities included. 

I took in a shaky breath, “The reason I keep saying this is because I'm afraid of getting used to you too much. What if you decide to leave me? I won't be able to bear hatred in your eyes for me Kane. I know you probably think I'm being clingy but it's the truth! I love you too much to imagine life without you now. All my life I've had people I love leave me and-" 

 
 

He kissed me suddenly, catching me off-guard. Though it took me completely by surprise, I caught on pretty quick and wrapped my arms around his neck, kissing him back. He wrapped one arm around my waist and placed the other hand around the back of my neck, tugging me impossibly close to himself. This kiss was different from his usual ones. 

 
 

It was rough and needy. The need to have me close to him. It was different for me too because I needed to feel him. I needed confirmation that he was indeed real and mine. A single tear escaped my eye. 

 
 

We pulled away after what felt like ages, breathing heavily. My hands slipped down his chest and I wrapped my arms around his waist, leaning my forehead against his. He opened his eyes and looked into mine. They didn't look sad anymore. He cupped my face with his hands and pulled away. 

 
 

"I will never, ever leave you. I have said this before and I'm saying it again. I love you with all your flaws and I can never think of you as clingy. Not now, not ever! I love you Sya Summers, with all my heart. You own it and only you," he declared. 

 
 

I swooned even though it was still hard for my heart to accept that I could be this lucky. Tears streamed down my face as I searched his tender eyes. Not a hint of a lie anywhere. 

 
 

"Y-you love me?" I asked in disbelieve. The determination on his face seemed to have increased ten folds. There was something different about the way he'd said it. 

 
 

He nodded, caressing my face fondly. My own mouth stretched into the widest smile. “I love you too.” 

 
 

He smiled, wiped my tears away, and gently kissed my forehead. 

 
 

"Now am I allowed to take you shopping?" He asked, grinning. 

 
 

I nodded and laughed. “Yes, but only this once,” I added. 

 
 

He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and led me out. 

 
 

“We'll see. We shall see.”

Daisy Swales was forced to leave her home to a place she could be finally live as a common, normal human. With bad memories behind, demons that keep on haunting her down and an identity she chose to concealed. The only solace is to keep her inner thoughts to herself, never been spoken a single word not until he met a guy who's persistent in unraveling and unveiling her secrets. Bryson Kingston oath to himself to solve the riddle of  Daisy's life, to peel off the screen one by one and find a key to her heart.

Fifteen Minutes Later.

Lilia wanted to sleep some more. She even made an effort to untangle her headband from her neck so she could use it as a sleeping mask. Sadly, it was not to be. Classes were out for the day, and students were crowding into the nearby courtyard.

She gave up and focused more on her surroundings. The place looked like a prison, that or a heavily fortified military compound. Which it was, Compound 8, to be exact. This place was one of many compounds dotting throughout the Wastelands.

Most compounds had one purpose. To harvest resources from the Wastelands and transport them to the Cities. Whereas Compound 8 functions more like a boarding school, teaching the students how to survive in the Wastelands.

The truth was most people don't choose to live in the compounds. They are recruited forcefully by the Cities. Those who came to the Wastelands were…

Lilia watched as a kid who appeared younger than Stella. He was clutching his bag like it was the last thing he had. Orphans and the homeless.

She glanced at an older woman, who looked like a farmworker. She had a number shaved in the back of her head. "Must be new," Lilia mumbled. The Convicted.

A group of teenagers walked past. Some had their vine markings showing in plain sight, others made sure that their clothes covered or had wrappings to hide them from prying eyes. More than half who lived on the compounds are made up of Vine survivors.

Or all of the above.

Lilia yawned and stretched, wishing that she had a better view of the Wastelands beyond the towering walls. All she could see was the top of the trees. Very disappointing. However, that might be for the best because the walls were made from out of a mineral that discouraged the Wasteland from crossing over.

Though that doesn't mean that it was safe. Quite the contrary, the Wasteland breathed and had a mind of its own. One could only take what was offered. If not, then there was a consequence that will, at worst, get people killed. Those who lived on the compounds must always keep that in mind.

Personally, Lilia didn't mind the Wasteland as much. Breathing in the fresh air was a lot better than that recycled air the Cities used. It was harder to deal with people. Especially if you're a Lumeye.

"All because of the Lumeye."

"Lumeye should all die."

It was only but a few statements that Lilia heard all her life. It brought about more considerable significance after she found out what she was.  Truthfully, she thinks that everyone just wants someone to blame.

Despite what history depicted, despite the hardship, the discrimination, the unanswered questions, and the self-doubt, Lilia was still breathing. She had every right to be as alive as any human despite her being a Lumeye. Other than keeping her sister and a few others safe was all that mattered.

Lilia watched as the crowd doubles in numbers with great concern.

Uh-oh, I need to get through the courtyard. I hate crowds. I can't wait any longer. Then again, the opposite direction looks pretty tempting. Stella will kill me if I don't show up again. She internally debated, but in the end, Lilia built up her resolve and slowly got up, grabbing her things before setting off.

She was late, but that was nothing new. The only thing annoying about it was the people she had to swim through to get to her destination. It was going to be such a headache, literally.

Walking across the courtyard, her long legs eating up the distance, Lilia tried to blend in, to be as casual as possible, and not to stiffen up when anyone came too near.

She bumped into someone, and she couldn't help but stare. There stood a girl a couple of years older than Lilia. 'Oh, she's cute.' Lilia felt a smile play on her lips.

The girl, on the other hand, merely gave Lilia a hard look and a flip of her hair. She moved on like Lilia never existed.

Oh, rejected. Nonetheless, that was enough for some to take notice.

 *Isn't that, Lee?*

*She used to sing…no; she played the piano.*

*I heard that she had a mental breakdown.*

*I heard that they had to send her to the mental hospital.*

 *I heard that she doesn't talk much.*

*What was that around her arm?*

*She's a blue sash.*

*Blue means that she is a reservist.*

*Not even good enough to be on a squad.*

*That serves her right.*

I knew that this was a bad idea, she thought, clenching her teeth. It was too much for Lilia. Her head was pounding. This was why she hated crowds.

She was telepathic.

Usually, she was able to process foreign thoughts as white noise, but when focused on her. Well, let's just say it was a lot harder to control.

Hers was modified to suit her needs, but she certainly wasn't the only one who had them. They were standard issue for those who had high musical intelligence. Why? Because they were able to hear the Wastelands' song. Enabling them to navigate through the Wastelands in relative safety.  

'In short, we are like trackers and scouts.'

Needless to say, it was noisy, but minor if compared to her other issues. For now, let's just concentrate on getting out of the crowd.

'Oh.' Something caught Lilia's eye. A woman with long red hair and green eyes. A man with blue-tipped blond hair and blue eyes. Both were two years older than her. Both were beautiful. Both were beautiful.  

'I didn't know that Druid and Bryson are back. No wonder the courtyard was busy. Just my luck.' Sighing.

No wonder the courtyard was busy. The power couple was back from travelling as representatives of Compound 8. So, everyone gathered wanted to catch up on the latest gossip.

Oh well, it had nothing do with her.

Druid's eyes were drawn to the commotion, not too far from where she was sitting and spotted Lilia in the thick of things. Her eyes instinctively moved a little to the left to see a man leaning against a nearby wall. He was dark except for his pale grey eyes. Eyes that never left Lilia.

'Shadow.'

Her own green eyes glazed over. Imagines flashed. A strange woman dying in a fire. Screaming. Cyan eyes. Lilia dragged away by shadowed hands. A sense of urgency. Other images flashed, but those weren't clear. At least not yet.

"It's going to be soon, but it's not time yet," Druid whispered.

Visions were like staring into a river. The closer to the surface. It was easier to grasp and shift.  The further away, the murkier it gets. Disappearing just as quickly, replaced with something else.  But this, this is important. If I don't change this…

She closed her eyes. No, I can't think about that day.

Druid felt a breath close to her ear. "What are you doing? You're staring at them too much. We can't acknowledge them in public, you know that" Bryson's crisp voice whispered. There was a hint of worry in his eyes.

"I know." She smiled, lovingly at Bryson. Before turning her attention to the surrounding students and mustered up her stage smile. Playing up her exhaustion. "I am sorry, what was the question?"

"Oh, um, how was the party?" The girl who spoke up looked a little flustered. She and Bryson were representatives for Compound 8.  Basically, they go to events and show off how good looking and talented they were.

Druid kept on smiling while replying, "The food was excellent." Meh at best. "The people were interesting." Old guys and some women who were too handsy. "And the music was mind-blowing." Boring. Nothing to dance to, and she loved to dance. In fact, Druid wanted to dance right now. "All in all, it was quite productive." Yes, very productive. They gathered a lot of blackmail information. The headmistress will be very pleased.

After she finished. It got noisy. Students were asking one question after another.

Suddenly a hand reached out, reaching for her. Druid didn't bother to move away. Allowing Bryson to take care of it.

Bryson's gloved hand wrapped around the offender's arm. "What are you doing?"

The other boy just snickered. "Relax, ok. I am just testing your skills. Please, can you let go of my arm." He winced.

Bryson let go and sat back and stared at the boy in silence.

The boy looked a little uncomfortable. "Um…my name is…"

"Jason Vasters. Sixteen years old. A Vine Survivor. Leader of Juliet Squad. And no, I have no interest in joining your squad," he interrupted in a bored manner. "You should be grateful I said no, boy." He did need to finish with, 'Or I would replace you as the leader.' Druid thought that Jason got the point.

Jason's flushed. He turned to Druid. "How about you beautiful?" he flirted.

Please, was that supposed to impress me?

She grasped Bryson's gloved hand and gave him a look. Don't rise to his bait. Before turning towards Jason and smiled politely. "I'm sorry, but I am perfectly happy where I am."

Jason scoffed. "Being a Blue Sash loser. Yeah, right."

Druid just sighed and shook her head. 'Not this again.'

After they turn fourteen, students were split into two groups. Blue Sashes and Red Sashes. Blues and Reds for short. The Reds were the fighters who take on the riskier jobs like going into the Wastelands and finding the resources the Cities needed and guard duty. Supervised, of course. The Blues, on the other hand, was made up of supports and specialists. 

The Reds had a superiority complex.

'It gets tiring after a while.'

Bryson laughed mockingly. "If being a Blue bothered us that much, we would have been a Red a long time ago. We had dozens of Red recruiters, none of them were worth mentioning." Bryson leaned forward; his eyes turned hard. "But you, I will remember."

Jason stepped back. "Why."

"You tried to touch Druid." His voice was cold as ice. "You better hope that we don't cross paths again."

After that, Jason couldn't run fast enough.

Bryson was always overprotective. But despite that, she still loved him.

Her mind turned back to her vision. Her eyes searched for Lilia and Shadow, but both already disappeared.

'Hopefully, things will turn out all right.' Though Druid couldn't help but feel doubt deep in her heart.

Lilia rather sleep all day than go to class. Avoiding her problems sounds like a better idea than getting hurt. But that was just a typical day for a girl living on a military school compound surrounded by the greenest Wastelands that ever existed. It doesn't help that she was in hiding. Her species were the ones responsible for almost destroying the human race. Well, at least she wasn't alone. However, that brings about another source of problems.

Do they all get along? No. Are they stuck together for the rest of their lives? Yes. Do they all need therapy? Darn, right, they do.

So this is Lilia's (Bryson, Druid, Heather, Terran, and Shadow)'s story; hope you like it.

"Ha, lovely story and manipulation of the truth. You dare lie to Crystalsa and claim you waited till he broke off with you to mate with his brother?" Lilith spat trying to take control of the situation. 

"Bryson and I had feelings for each other from the very start, it's true. However we avoided ever being alone together for that reason. It wasn't until I was cast from the house that Bryson and I gave up the fight." Fantasy replied her eyes met Crystalsa's. "I would never break your heart like that, Mother. You knew that, Lilith, that's why you had me killed." The older woman saw the sincerity in her eyes and nodded. Old shaky hands raised to wipe the tears, but Fantasy did it for her. 

"You have no proof." Lilith spat back and Fantasy turned to her. 

"Into your hands, I commit my Fate." Fantasy replied and the Lady Raven walked forward to stand before Lilith.

"You plotted against my daughter, you murdered her son, a son who has lived a very different life and was reborn into this world again, to the family he never should have left. You sentenced him to a life of war, bloodshed and evil all because of your greed.  If you need poof…" The Raven took a feather and gashed across Lilith's arm, and a golden light deflected the quil. Then silence fell. The Raven let go of her arm and took a step back disgusted. Silence settled across the room. 

Fantasy walked forward, now that it was over and faced her. The Lady Raven stepped back, giving her room to face Lilith. "Lilly… you were my dearest friend, and the start of the betrayals. I wish I could forgive you, but my heart is not that generous." 

"I don't need forgiveness for following a higher calling, especially not from something as low as you." Lilith replied and Crystalsa stared at her. 

"The Goddess of Fate has been called and judged by the Old Ones and been found masquerading as fate when in truth, she is the Goddess of Deception, the temptress. Any who worship her, shall be cast from my lands and banned among my people. The challengers, in her service, committed murder shall never have peace in Moria." The Shadow King stood at his sister's side as he spoke.  The Raven nodded her head in agreement, setting her hand on Fantasy's shoulder. 

"Your will be done, My Lord of Shadows but, I beg of you, what of my grandchildren?" Crystalsa asked, her mind on her two granddaughters. She feared what could befall of them outside these walls. 

"Children may not suffer the sins of the Mother, Crystalsa. I told you this once before." He reminded her and she nodded slowly. 

"Agreed. Fantasy… I am so sorry." Crystalsa addressed her with tears and Fantasy replied with a smile. 

"You have nothing to apologize for. I Love you, and I loved being part of this family." Fantasy reassured her as Crystalsa stood and hugged her close. Fantasy felt the warmth of that hug, and nearly broke into tears herself but she didn't. There wasn't time to waste with tears. 

"I would give anything to have you back with us." Crystalsa whispered and Fantasy sighed. 

"Mother, you know that just isn't possible. I will return to the Raven's Roost soon…" Fantasy whispered into her ear. Crystalsa nodded and let go, wiping her eyes slowly. 

Reever waved his hand for Lilith to be taken away to be dealt with later, her banishment already decided. Rose was still in shock as Fantasy turned to her, feeling those eyes on her. 
Rose launched herself from her seat and hugged Fantasy. "Thank you, thank you, thank you. I never got to say thank you for everything you did. I tried to do right by Kyera but I always regretted not thanking you myself. If you hadn't helped me I never would have had Lavender." 

"Your own will saved your daughter, I only kept others from taking her from you. You were an amazing mother Rose. Thank you for looking after my Granddaughter." Fantasy agreed, her voice soft as she smiled. 

Bryson waited just long enough for the two girls to separate before pulling her into a bear hug, her tiny tiger body suddenly lifted two feet off the ground and nestled against his chest. Her arms wrapped around his neck as he buried his face in hers. She closed her eyes not caring what anyone in the room thought. It would be a long time before they were together again in the world after. 

"I will wait for you." She whispered into his ear. Bryson nodded. 

"Please do. I can't leave Kyera, not yet. She needs a family." Bryson whispered as much as he wished he could follow her into death. 

"Take care of our family. I will see you again." She kissed his forehead, but Bryson was not content with that. He claimed her lips again with the tenderness of a man much stronger than his lover, but searing hot as the need for her had always been. 

"Yes. I will see you again." He agreed and set her down. The Raven cleared her throat gently. 

"Kyera will be here soon, Fantasy." The Raven pointed out gently and she smiled softly. 

"I know." There was a sadness to Fantasy's face. 

"She would love to meet you…" Bryson pointed out hopefully, wanting to steal just a little more time. 

"And she will… in the afterlife. Goodbye, My love." Fantasy raised her arms and lifted onto her toes before her body folded in on itself, sterling silver hair becoming feathers, and soon a white raven sat on Lady Raven's shoulder. 

"Fantasy can not cross paths with people who did not know her when she was living… especially not a young demigoddess who can change the ways of fate." The Shadow King explained as the God and Goddess prepared to depart. "The truth has been revealed. It is up to you what you do with it, now go. Our Princess returns."
