Because while such a test is a staple of fanfics, and I haven't read a ton of canon lore outside the main series, I remember no such thing in the original books, nor has such been mentioned in this fanfic (though it is far from impossible that such will be introduced later in the story).Either way, the previous user evidently either lacked the bloodlines he claimed or otherwise provoked the goblins while trying to prove his supposed heritage, and was killed for it. Seems like not following in his footsteps while attempting the quest would be a good idea.
