(AN: I was going to upload another one but since I'm uploading this late I'll release another chap :p)
As Yang Chen and Jane were having breakfast at the penthouse, she brought up his company's devices.
"How did you come up with such a revolutionary device?" Jane asked with sparkling eyes.
Even when being the smartest person in the world, she always wanted to learn new stuff related to science and technology. She would become infatuated with these kinds of topics, bringing out her nerdy side which made her look extremely cute. This was probably her second-most favorite thing to do while her first was obviously being by Yang Chen's side.
Yang Chen couldn't help but chuckle at her passion for science.
"I don't know. It just came to me." Yang Chen said while grinning.
Jane pouted at his lame excuse of an answer.
Yang Chen then suddenly remembered something so he took out a flash drive from his pocket and handed it over to Jane.
"What's this for?" Jane asked confused at why would he give her this.
"This contains some future ideas that I have been working on lately. This is also my thanks for helping me out in the company." Yang Chen said
Jane smiled excitedly, "Thank you."
They then finished their breakfast and Yang Chen got up from his seat.
"I should probably leave you to rest since you've had an exhausting flight." Yang Chen said with concern in his tone.
Jane felt happy that he was worried about her but also sad that he had to leave already. She then got up from her seat and hugged Yang Chen. He returned the hug but Jane didn't let go as she was slightly trembling.
"Jane?" Yang Chen said with a bit of worry.
She mumbled something under her breath but Yang Chen still heard.
"Your wife sure is lucky..." You could hear the sadness in her voice.
Although Jane was depressed when she said those words, she still felt happy and safe as she hugged Yang Chen. She was trying to get the most out of this moment as she can.
Yang Chen felt slight heartache for this girl. Jane was one of the few people that he truly cared for in his life. He wanted to say something to her but no words could leave his mouth. He thought about the other women in his life and didn't know what to do. He needed some time to think peacefully about this matter.
Jane finally separated from Yang Chen and gave him a gentle smile but you could see traces of bitterness in it.
"Thank you for picking me up today. I'll mainly be in my lab working on projects but will always have time if you ever want to stop by."
Yang Chen clenched his fists as he saw Jane's dejected look. He then released them and decided to do something. He walked in front of Jane and kissed her forehead.
"Ok." Yang Chen said with a warm smile.
Jane froze at the spot. She slowly lifted her hand toward the place Yang Chen had kissed. She then looked up toward Yang Chen and saw his smile. Her heart started racing and she subconsciously released happy tears. She then wiped the tears on her face, her earlier dejected look was gone and replaced with a blissful smile.
Yang Chen then left the penthouse, leaving the happy Jane to her own. This had meant that he hadn't disregarded her feelings for him.
Jane then went to her bed to get some rest but she couldn't sleep. She just rolled around in her bed with a pillow on her chest at the amount of joy she was feeling right now. Her many years of trying to get him to accept and acknowledge her feelings were finally starting to pay off.
--------
(Midnight - Somewhere over a canyon near the border.)
In the night sky, there was a black helicopter flying through the clouds trying to avoid being spotted by anyone on the ground.
This helicopter had a futuristic look to it as it made no sound while flying. It was so advanced that it couldn't be tracked by satellite or even radar.
Inside the chopper was Yang Chen wearing a black tactical outfit with an IR patch that showed a black eagle with red eyes. He wasn't going to wear a helmet or cover his face since he wanted it to be known that it was him.
Yang Chen was looking outside the window enjoying the view from the sky while he had his phone in his hand. He just finished calling Ruoxi, saying that he would come home late and to not stay up late and wait for him.
Ruoxi was a little worried but said to come home safely. Yang Chen smiled as he was thinking about something when the pilot brought him back to reality.
"Sir, we're here."
Yang Chen nodded, "Stay out of sight and get ready for extraction when I give the signal."
The pilot nodded and hovered over their destination as he activated stealth mode for the helicopter. Now they were completely invisible as it camouflaged with the surrounding clouds.
Yang Chen then opened the hatch and was immediately hit by the cold air. He found it refreshing before he looked down with his enhanced vision to see what he was dealing with. He was looking at an abandoned Buddist temple in the small plain near the river. He can sense that there were many people inside that Buddist temple and a sniper not far from them, positioned on a cliff.
Yang Chen then jumped off the helicopter straight to the ground. He didn't even have a parachute as he had no use for one. His hair was also swaying in the direction of the blowing wind.
*Boom*
Yang Chen made a small crater on the ground as he landed. He then looked around and saw many dead bodies and countless used bullets in the ground. It looked like a battlefield took place some moments ago.
Yang Chen then starting walking toward the entrance of the temple with an indifferent face. He didn't care one bit about these corpses as he just came here to collect his golden statue.
The sniper was a tall man with a natural gloomy expression. When he was looking at the surrounding area with his binoculars and saw something land and create a crater, it scared him shitless. He then radioed his comrades but it wouldn't go through. He realized that the communications were down but he was ordered to stay in his position so he couldn't venture out. He then looked through his binoculars and saw that it was a person that came out of the crater and started walking toward the entrance.
He froze and didn't know what to do. Was he ally or enemy? He then looked through his binoculars once more but since he took too long in regaining his focus, Yang Chen had already entered the temple. He started sweating nervously before he got into position and looked through his sniper scope and stayed vigilant for any other weird acts that could happen.
Yang Chen entered the temple and saw people on each side staring furiously at each other. On the left was the Dragon Group from the Yellow Flame Iron Brigade that had despaired faces and on the right were people that looked to be American with grins on their faces. They seemed to be the organization from the United States, named Blue Storm.
Yang Chen could tell who's which since they all had an insignia of their respected countries placed on their shoulder.
He also saw a beautiful young nun that had a despairing face as she supported an injured middle-aged nun. The mature looking nun had a pale face as she had a stab wound on the side of her stomach. Luckily for her, the vital points didn't look to be hit but she was still suffering from blood loss.
"Master?!" Cried out the young nun.
The middle-aged nun whispered, "Listen to me, Hui Lin. Pick up your sword and get out of here with the rest of them." Although she was in pain, she spoke gently to her disciple.
"No! I'll get you out of here first." Hui Lin refused as tears came down from her face.
"Here, let me put pressure on the wound!" Another woman spoke. She was dressed in black and was also from the Dragon Group. Her codename was Leaf.
Hui Lin hurriedly nodded and let her attend to her master.
Leaf paled as she saw that the old nun's state was getting worse.
"She's poisoned!" Shouted Leaf, making Hui Lin's face lose all color.
Sky Dragon who was part of the Group of Eight was also present in this operation. He glared at a certain someone on the other side.
"Broken Blade you fucking traitor!" Sky Dragon shouted in fury.
Broken Blade was a fair-skinned man with a proportionate body.
Broken blade smirked, "I was always part of Blue Storm, you guys were just deceived because you are inferior to me."
The Dragon Group clenched their teeth and fists.
Leaf who was trying to stop the blood loss said, "Abbess, I have an antidote in my bag just hold on for a little longer."
The middle-aged woman that was slowly losing consciousness was named Abbess Yun Miao. She was the oldest member of the Group of Eight.
"Hui Lin, you keep pressuring her wound while I go get the antidote." Leaf said seriously.
Hui Lin had been living up in the mountains for years so everything outside of her home had made her curious. She was truly pure and naive so when she saw her master get hurt she almost broke down since she has never seen her hurt before.
Hui Lin nodded while her whole body was shivering. She then placed her hands over Abbess's wound and put pressure on it.
Leaf stood up and headed to go get her bag where she had placed a few feet back.
"You truly are inferior." Broken blade said with a laugh as he was twirling the bag with his finger.
The Yellow Flame Iron Brigade widened their eyes. They were first betrayed, then became outnumbered and outgunned and now they are going to lose their strongest member. They were now truly losing hope.
"Give that here!" Hui Lin shouted in anger. She was the only one who hadn't lost hope in this situation. She was going to do whatever it takes to keep her master alive.
"Or what? You going to leave your Master to die and fight us." A blonde-haired woman sneered. Her name was Judy.
Hui Lin clenched her teeth. She was helpless at this moment.
Judy then decided to end this silly situation since they needed to get out of China before any reinforcements come. Just as she was about to order her comrades to attack, she suddenly saw a person enter the temple.
Everybody else noticed this and turned to look at the entrance.
Yang Chen barely spared a glance toward the injured Abbess. He then looked around trying to find the Vairocana Dharma Body.
Sky Dragon who saw Yang Chen enter felt his hope reignite. He knew he was powerful since he witnessed it first hand. He thought that the general had managed to convince Yang Chen to help them recover the item.
"Sir, Pluto! Good, you're here. Help us get rid of these guys and recover the artifact!" Sky Dragon said in a commanding tone.
'Pluto?!' Thought every single person inside the temple.
They then remembered the information about one of the twelve gods of Olympus that was residing in China lately. The people from Blue Storm turned pale and the Yellow Flame Iron Brigade recovered the fire in their eyes to fight when they got reinforcements.
Yang Chen was planning to ignore them and just take the statue and leave since this wasn't any of his business, but his plans changed when he heard Broken Blade say something stupid.
"It's Pluto! He's the one that has the god's stone! I remember now!" Broken Blade said as his fear turned into greed.
When the people of Blue Storm heard this, they looked at Yang Chen with the same greedy expression.
Yang Chen sighed tiredly, "I guess this will take a little longer than expected."
(AN: Jane will be in the harem. About her mother, would you like to see some development between MC and her or no?)
