The food was set on the table. Despite its lack, it felt homey.

"There's not much food, I hope you like it." Ye Xue said.

"That's not really a problem, the important thing is that someone is eating with me. My mother never ate meals with me." Yu Qing replied.

"You're missing your mother again, huh?"

Yu Qing nodded.

"If you don't mind, you can think of me as your mother." Ye Xue suggested.

"Can I really do that?"

"Of course, as long as you're comfortable with it, considering me as your foster mother is also fine."

Yu Qing chuckled slightly, "I like this feeling. Back in the Demon Palace, I usually had meals alone. My father rarely came back and even when he did, there were hardly any chances for him to join me for a meal."

"Really?"

"Mhm, so I mostly ate alone. Though, I always wished someone would accompany me, even if the meal was simple, I wouldn't mind." Qing'er felt warmth washing over her.
