Chapter 23: The Mandarin Island Miss Match

(One bright sunny day, Mew is having a Pokemon battle on a beautiful island called Mandarin Island.)

(Battling alongside her is Bulbasaur.)

(Misty and the others watch Mew perform great with her battle.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Okay! Bulbasaur use Razor Leaf, now!"

Bulbasaur: "Bulbasaur!" (You got it!)

(Bulbasaur calls out.)

(And Bulbasaur then launches the attack at the opponent.)

(who is a Butterfree, and is instantly knocked out.)

Mew: "Alright Bulbasaur, we won!"

(Mew happily says.)

(Bulbasaur says.)

Bulbasaur: "Bulbasaur!" (Alright!)

(The trainer then calls back his Pokemon and runs off in defeat.)

(She kneels down to bulbasaur and pats him on the bud.)

Mew: "Great job, Bulbasaur."

Bulbasaur: "Bulba," (Thanks, Mew.)

(Bulbasaur says.)

(The others are amazed and surprised to see Mew battling.)

Tracey: "I can't believe how many battles Mew has had since we got here."

(Tracey says.)

Misty: "I can't believe she won them all."

(Misty says, amazed.)

Tomo: "I sure can, especially after winning seven battles since we got to the island."

(Tomo replies.)

Mew: "Well, I may have won a lot of battles, but I'm going to need more training to compete in the Orange League."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "You're right. I know you have a good chance, but who knows what will be happening at the Orange League."

(Misty says.)

Tracey: "So what do you wanna do now?"

(Tracey asks.)

Mew: "Well, I think it's a good idea for my Pokemon to rest since we've been battling since we got here."

(Mew says.)

(Then Tomo asks.)

Tomo: "Maybe we can grab something to eat."

Mew: "Good idea. I was starting to get hungry."

(Mew replies.)

(Agreeing to the idea, Mew, Misty, Tomo, and the Pokemon are having lunch.)

Misty: "Here, Togepi."

(Misty says, and gives Togepi a piece of the sandwich.)

(Tomo turns to Mew and says.)

Tomo: "Hey Mew, I wonder why there's so many trainers who want to battle."

Mew: "I'm not sure. Maybe there's an event or something."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Probably. There might be a contest or a battling event."

(Misty says.)

Tomo: "Sounds cool."

(Tomo says.)

(Just then, Tracey walks to the table and calls out.)

Tracey: "Hey, guys! I've solved the mystery."

Misty: "What mystery?"

(Misty asks.)

Tracey: "The mystery of why everybody we meet here wants to battle. The answer's right in this flyer."

(Tracey says, and presents the flyer to them.)

Mew: "What's it say?"

(Mew asks.)

(Tracey then reads the flyer.)

Tracey: "Attention trainers, Pokémon lecture and battle demonstration by the one and only, Lorelei!'"

Mew: "Really? Lorelei's here?"

(Mew asks, surprised.)

(Misty eyes wide open and says in amazement.)

Misty: "Lorelei is really here?

(Tracey sits down next to her.)

Tracey: "I hear she has a house on the island and trains here in the off season. Once a week she shows off her different battling techniques."

Tomo: "Hey, I'd sure like to see that."

(Tomo amazed.)

Mew: "Yeah. It will also be great to see her again."

(Mew says.)

(Misty is still excited.)

Misty: "I can't believe we're going to see Lorelei again!"

Tracey: "Sounds like you're a really big Lorelei fan, Misty. And you also sound like you're an admirer."

(Tracey replies.)

Misty: "Who wouldn't be?"

(Misty says, excited.)

(Mew giggles.)

Mew: "Misty's a big fan, even though she specializes in Ice Types, she also uses Water Types like Misty does."

(Then Tracey asks.)

Tracey: "So you really met Lorelei?"

Tomo: "Yeah. We met her back in Kanto on Seafoam Island."

(Tomo says.)

???: "We sure did."

(A familiar voice says as the familiar face walks over.)

(The group turn to the voice and are shocked to see Lorelei.)

(She is wearing a black shirt with a collar, a blue skirt, and heel shoes.)

(Misty is ecstatic.)

Misty: "L-L-L-L-Lorelei!"

Tracey: "It.. It.. It really is you!"

(Tracey says, shocked.)

(Mew happily says.)

Mew: "Hi Lorelei, it's great to see you again."

Lorelei: "Hello Mew, Misty, Tomo it's good to see you again."

(Lorelei says.)

(Then turns to Tracey.)

Lorelei: "and I see you have a few friend to the group."

Tracey: "I'm Tracey."

(Tracey says, amazed.)

Lorelei: "It's nice to meet you."

(Lorelei says.)

(Then turns to the Pokemon.)

Lorelei: "It's also good to see you too, Pikachu, Eevee, Meloetta, Skwovet."

(Then greets Togepi and Pichu.)

Lorelei: "And of course you two cuties."

(Togepi happily says.)

Togepi: "Toge Toge Piiiii!" (Hello)

Pichu: "Pichu Pi," (Hello)

(Pichu happily says.)

(Meanwhile, Team Rocket is spying on Mew and her friends again.)

(Well, Meowth is with the binoculars as Jessie and James have some lunch.)

Meowth: "It's them. And they're talking to some woman who looks like she's only talking to Togepi and Pichu."

(Meowth says.)

James: "Wonder who that could be."

(James says, replies, still eating.)

Jessie: "Let's see."

(Jessie says, with her mouth full.)

(Jessie and James take out the binocular and spot Lorelei.)

(James becomes surprised.)

James: "Hey!"

Jessie: "What?"

(Jessie asks.)

James: "I've seen her, but I don't know where."

(James says.)

(Meanwhile, Lorelei is looking over the sea.)

(Tracey asks.)

Tracey: "Uh, Miss Lorelei? Is everything okay?"

Lorelei: "The sun feels like an old friend."

(Lorelei says.)

Tracey: "It does?"

(Tracey says, confused.)

Misty: "Oh, I'm so excited! We saw the flyer about your lecture. I just can't wait to hear your talk."

(Misty says, excited.)

(Lorelei shushes Misty.)

Lorelei: "Shh."

(And places her hand to her ear.)

Lorelei: "Just listen. The wind is speaking."

(The group becomes a little confused.)

Tracey: "I think we might need a translation."

(Tracey says.)

Tomo: "Lorelei is acting differently than we first saw her."

(Tomo says.)

Mew: "So Lorelei, how have you been since we last saw you?"

(Mew asks.)

Lorelei: "Doing well. I saw that you won the Pokemon League in Kanto."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "Yeah. It was really hard, but I was able to win it, and it's mainly thanks to my Pokemon."

(Mew says.)

Lorelei: "Good to hear."

(Lorelei says.)

(Then turned to the ocean.)

Lorelei: "The ocean is beautiful, isn't it?"

(Mew looks at the ocean and says.)

Mew: "Yeah. It sure is nice."

Lorelei: "This must be one of the most beautiful places in the world."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "I suppose you're right."

(Mew replies.)

(Lorelei sighs and says.)

Lorelei: "Feel the salt air on your face. The sea and the sky, one reflecting the other."

???: "Excuse me!"

(Someone calls out.)

(Mew turns around to see a trainer with a green shirt.)

The trainer: "Are you a pokemon trainer?"

(The guy asks.)

Mew: "Sure am I,"

(Mew answers.)

The trainer: "You wanna have a Pokémon battle?"

(The guy asks.)

Mew: "Okay, I'll battle you."

(Mew answers.)

(Mew then turns to Pikachu, Eevee, and Bulbasaur.)

Mew: "You guys wanna come?"

(The Pokemon decline.)

Mew: "Okay. You enjoy your lunch."

(Mew says, and rushes down to battle.)

Tomo: "I want to see too."

(Tomo says.)

Misty: "Might as well."

(Misty says.)

(Tracey then rushes off to watch.)

Mew: "Okay, so let's battle! Wanna set the roles?"

(Mew asks.)

The trainer: "You wanna use two Pokémon each?"

(The trainer asks.)

Mew: "Fine by me,"

(Mew says.)

(The trainer then first calls out.)

The trainer: "Persian, go!"

(Persian materializes and straightens out its tail.)

Tracey: "Mew, that Persian has its tail out straight! That means it's been in lots of battles!"

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "Yeah. I saw that too. And I know the Pokemon for this one."

(Mew says, and brings out her Pokeball.)

(She throws her Pokeball and calls out.)

Mew: "Go Squirtle!"

(Squirtle then comes out of his Pokeball.)

The trainer: "That Squirtle isn't gonna last too long. So I better let you go first."

(The trainer says.)

Mew: "If you say so, but you shouldn't underestimate Squirtle."

(Mew says, and calls out.)

Mew: "Squirtle, Water Gun, now!"

(Squirtle then performs Water Gun, but Persian dodges, surprising the group.)

Tracey: "It's fast!"

(Tracey comments.)

(The trainer calls out.)

The trainer: "Persian, Thunderbolt attack!"

(Persian performs the attack, and lands on Squirtle, and feels the attack.)

(Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Squirtle, Withdrawal!"

(Squirtle quickly ducks into his shell. Soon, the attack stops.)

Tracey: "I can't believe that Persian can use electric attacks!"

(Tracey says, surprised.)

Mew: "Squirtle, are you okay?"

(Mew calls out.)

(Squirtle then pops out of his shell.)

Mew: "Alright! I knew I could count on you, Squirtle!"

(Mew says.)

(Unknown to Mew and the others, Lorelei is watching.)

(Mew then calls out.)

Mew: "Use your Skull Bask, now!"

(Squirtle dashes forward and nails Persian, knocking it out with one attack.)

(The trainer then calls out his Pokemon.)

The trainer: "Persian, return!"

(And Persian returns to its Pokeball.)

The trainer: "Not bad, for a kid."

(Then gets out his other Pokeball.)

The trainer: "But playtime's over! Go, Tauros!"

(He throws his Pokeball and Tauros comes out.)

Mew: "That Tauros looks pretty strong."

(Mew says.)

(She then brings out her Pokeball and calls it back.)

Mew: "Squirtle return."

(She then brings out her other Pokeball and calls out.)

Mew: "Charizard, I choose you!"

(And Charizard comes out of his Pokeball.)

(The Trainer calls out.)

The Trainer: "Tauros! Tackle attack!"

Mew: "Charizard, dodge!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Charizard then dodges the attack.)

(Tracey calls out.)

Tracey: "Mew, be careful! That's a really powerful Tauros!"

Mew: "Yeah. That Tackle looks strong."

(Mew says.)

The trainer: "Sorry about that, junior, but this match is mine."

(The trainer says.)

(Then calls out to his Pokemon.)

The trainer: "Okay, Tauros, Take Down attack, now!"

Mew: "Charizard, look out!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Charizard then quickly flies in the air.)

(Then Mew calls out.)

Mew: "Charizard, use Flamethrower!"

(Charizard then performs the flamethrower.)

(It's so powerful that Tauros is knocked out.)

The trainer: "Oh, no! She beat me!"

(The trainer says, shocked.)

Mew: "You did it Charizard."

(Mew says.)

(Charizard then roars with a smile on his face and nuzzles Mew.)

(Mew giggles and says.)

Mew: "You were great."

(Then the trainer calls back his Pokemon.)

the trainer: "Nice work."

(Then turns to Mew.)

the trainer: "That's some good battling you did. Hope we can do it again."

Mew: "Sure,"

(Mew says.)

(Then the trainer hurries off to take his Pokemon to the Pokemon Center most likely.)

(Mew pet Charizard.)

Mew: "You did a great job."

(Then brings out her Pokeball and calls it back.)

Mew: "Return Charizard."

(Charizard is called back to his Pokeball after a great battle.)

Lorelei: "You trained your Charizard and Squirtle well."

(Lorelei's voice says.)

(Mew turns to see Lorelei.)

Mew: "Oh hi Lorelei, and thank you."

(Mew says.)

Lorelei: "I can tell that you really cared for your Pokemon, and they care very much for you. It shows that a trainer is as good as their Pokemon, and you showed it well."

(Lorelei says.)

(Mew blushes and says.)

Mew: "Oh, thank you."

(Lorelei smiles and says.)

Lorelei: "And it's no wonder you were able to win the league, and the stones connected to you and Charizard show the bond you have for each other."

Mew: "Yeah. Chariazard and I do have a strong bond. Charizard is one of my dearest friends."

(Mew says.)

(Lorelei then says.)

Lorelei: "And that is a good strong bond with your Pokemon."

(Suddenly, the group hears the bell.)

Mew: "I guess it's time for your lecture, huh Lorelei."

(Mew replies.)

Lorelei: "Yes it does. Well, I've got to be going."

(Lorelei says, and begins to walk away.)

(But she stops and turns to the others.)

Lorelei: "If you're not too busy, why don't you come to my demonstration this afternoon?"

Misty: "This is like a dream come true! Yay!"

(Misty cheers with excitement.)

Lorelei: "I'd like it if you came along with your friends, too, Mew."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "Sure. I like to see your demonstration."

(Mew says.)

Tomo: "Me too!"

(Tomo says.)

(The Pokemon happily agrees.)

(Later on, at the Mandarin Island Stadium, a Pokemon battle is about to take place.)

(The announcer says.)

The announcer: "Welcome Pokémon fans to Mandarin Island stadium! Now it's my pleasure to introduce to you one of the Orange Islands' best, the one and only Lorelei! Her Pokémon battle demonstration is about to begin! Future Pokémon masters, watch closely, and you may learn something."

(As the announcer speaks, Team Rocket in disguise as food vendors watch the match.)

(Then James says.)

James: "I knew she looked familiar. I must've seen her in the newspaper or on TV."

Meowth: "And, of course, the best trainer's Pokémon are in tip top fighting shape."

(Meowth says.)

Jessie: "There's an idea. Why don't we try to take hers?"

(Jessie says.)

Meowth: "I wish."

(Meowth says.)

(Soon, the bell rings to begin the battle.)

Lorelei: "Alright, let's begin!"

(Lorelei says, and throws her Pokeball.)

(Soon, they see Lorelei use a Slowbro to battle Machamp.)

(Dewgong to battle Marowak.)

(and Cloyster to battle and freeze an Alakazam.)

(And the crowd is going wild.)

(Mew and the others are also cheering for Lorelei as well.)

Tracey: "Awesome! That's three straight wins for Lorelei!"

(Tracey says.)

Misty: "Lorelei's totally cool!"

(Misty squalls.)

Tomo: "She's really good."

(Tomo says.)

Mew: "She's amazing!"

(Mew says, amazed.)

(After the battle demonstration, Mew and her friends are at Lorelei's home and are talking about her demonstration.)

Tracey: "That was really an awesome demonstration, Lorelei."

(Tracey says.)

Misty: "You took out most of your opponents with just one attack!"

(Misty says.)

Tomo: "Yeah. that was so cool."

(Tomo says.)

Tracey: "I learned a lot about choosing Pokémon and attacks just by watching you."

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "Me too. I've learned a lot."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "And it was really super nice of you to invite us to your house."

(Misty says.)

Lorelei: "I'm glad you could come. It's nice to have company."

(Lorelei says.)

(Then Tracey says.)

Tracey: "Don't take this the wrong way, but you're a totally different person when you're battling."

Lorelei: "Maybe so. But we all behave in different ways when we're in different situations. Don't we, everyone?"

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "I suppose you're right."

(Mew says.)

Lorelei: "Everyone has a personal style, their own particular way of battling."

(Lorelei replies.)

(Then Tracey asks.)

Tracey: "What's yours?"

Lorelei: "I try to behave like water."

(Lorelei answers.)

(Then Mew asks.)

Mew: "What do you mean, Lorelei?

Lorelei: "When I'm not battling, I try to go with the flow. But as soon as a battle begins, I become as unforgiving as ice. Then I melt right back and flow on."

(Lorelei explains.)

(Lorelei then gets up and walks outside.)

Lorelei: "A trainer can be successful with any number of styles, but the most important thing, the most important thing, is knowing, really knowing, where your true strength lies."

Mew: "True strength."

(Mew replies, interested.)

Lorelei: "Yes, in order to become Pokémon masters, you both need a different kind of strength. Something that you strongly possessed."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "I do?"

(Mew says, confused.)

Lorelei: "The strength that comes from inside. And with that strength, you can share your heart with your Pokémon."

Tracey: "I can almost feel what you mean."

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "I think I understand, especially what happened at the Pokemon league when I was battling Gary. When Charizard first Mega Evolved."

(Mew says.)

(Mew remembers it very well.)

(Mew and Charizard have done so much together, when he first became her Pokemon, evolving, battling.)

(And then Charizard Mega evolved, because Mew senses that Charizard doesn't plan on giving her up.)

(letting her know that she shouldn't give up.)

(And their strong emotions and friendship causes Charizard to Mega Evolve.)

Mew: "I remember that strength very well. And how strong Charizard's strength is."

(Mew says.)

Lorelei: "I believe that your battling comes from within your heart. The love and care you show your Pokemon helps give them strength, and in doing so also gives you strength."

(Lorelei says.)

(Just then, Tomo has an idea.)

Tomo: "Hey Mew, maybe you and Lorelei can battle?"

Mew: "Me? Battle against Lorelei?"

(Mew asks, shocked.)

Mew: "I don't know. I've never battled with a member of the Elite Four before."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "Yeah. Mew's strong, but Lorelei is at a different level."

(Misty says.)

Tracey: "Well, Mew can also learn something from Lorelei during her battle."

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "Well I do like to, but..."

(Mew says.)

(Then turns to Lorelei.)

Mew: "What do you think? Should you and I have a battle?"

(Lorelei calmly smiles and says.)

Lorelei: "Okay. Let's battle."

(Then walks down the porch.)

Mew: "Alright."

(Mew says, and follows her down the porch.)

(Tracey turns to Misty.)

Tracey: "This should be a good one."

Misty: "Yeah, fire versus ice."

(Misty relies.)

Mew: "Sounds cool if you ask me."

(Mew says.)

(Soon, Mew and Lorelei are at the battlefield.)

Lorelei: "We'll battle with just one Pokémon each."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "Fine by me,"

(Mew says.)

Lorelei: "It wouldn't be fair to go easy on you!"

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "I can tell. Seeing your demonstration, I learn quite a bit."

(Mew says.)

(Then calls out.)

Mew: "I choose, Pikachu!"

(Pikachu then takes to the battlefield.)

Lorelei: "Then I'll choose...!"

(Lorelei says, and calls out.)

(With that, Cloyster comes out of the Pokeball.)

Misty: "Cloyster?"

(Misty says, surprised.)

Mew: "Hmm, I figure it's going to be a Water and Ice Type, but your Cloyster is a strong opponent."

(Mew says.)

(Then turns to Pikachu.)

Mew: "Are you ready, Pikachu?"

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Ready!)

(Pikachu says.)

Tracey: "Better be careful, Mew.. Lorelei knows what she's doing."

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "I know."

(Mew says.)

(Just then Lorelei says.)

Lorelei: "I'll let you have the first move, Mew!"

Mew: "Alright,"

(Mew says.)

(Then turns to Pikachu.)

Mew: "Alright Pikachu, let's try a Thunderbolt Attack!"

(Pikachu charges a Thunderbolt.)

(But Lorelei says.)

Lorelei: "Cloyster, Withdrawal!"

(Pikachu launches the attack as Cloyster Withdrawal into its shell

protecting itself from the attack.)

(Misty says, surprised.)

Misty: "Look at that! Thunderbolt didn't weaken Cloyster at all!"

Tracey: "You're right! Cloyster's Withdrawal is such a strong defense that electric attacks don't weaken it at all!"

(Tracey says.)

(Then Mew says.)

Mew: "Alright Pikachu, lets try an Agility Attack!

(Pikachu dashes forwards.)

(Then Lorelei says.)

Lorelei: "Cloyster, Reflect!"

(Pikachu tries to run towards the barrier, but Pikachu ends up getting bounced off.)

Mew: "Are you okay?"

(Mew asks.)

(Pikachu wakes up and is ready to battle.)

Mew: "That's the spirit!"

(Mew says.)

(Then calls out.)

Mew: "Pikachu, Thunder attack!"

(Pikachu then uses Thunder and the attack lands, blinding it.)

(Mew soon notices.)

Mew: "That's weird, why didn't Cloyster attack."

(Then shouts.)

Mew: "Unless Lorelei is planning something."

(Just then Cloyster opens its eyes and begins to glow red.)

Mew: "Oh no. That's…"

(Mew says, shocked.)

(Tracey quickly says.)

Tracey: "Cloyster's Rage attack."

Tomo: "Rage Attack?"

(Tomo asks.)

Mew: "It's dangerous. Whenever a Pokémon uses Rage, its attack power goes way up!"

(Mew explains.)

Mew: "Quick Pikachu, use Quick Attack!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Pikachu dashes forward.)

Lorelei: "Aurora Beam!"

(Lorelei calls out.)

(And Cloyster fires the attack.)

Mew: "Quick Pikachu, use Quick Attack to dodge!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Pikachu then dodges the first blast, and then dodges the second blast, and is able to dodge the third blast.)

Lorelei: "Cloyster, Take Down, now!"

(Lorelei calls out.)

Mew: "Quick Pikachu, use Iron Tail!"

(Mew calls out.)

(Cloyster charges for Take Down while Pikachu's tail glows and performs Iron Tail.)

(Both attacks collide with one another, and they both bounce off.)

(Cloyster and Pikachu both land on the ground, but are still standing.)

Mew: "You okay, Pikachu?"

(Mew asks.)

Pikachu: "Pika pi," (I'm okay.)

(Pikachu answers.)

Mew: "Good. Glad to see you're okay."

(Mew says.)

(Just then, Pikachu collapses and lands on his bottom, and is looking tired.)

(Mew walks to Pikachu and picks him up.)

Mew: "Are you alright, Pikachu?"

Pikachu: "Pika Pika," (I'm a little tired.)

(Pikachu says.)

Mew: "It's okay, Pikachu. You did your very best."

(Mew says.)

Pikachu: "Pika," (Thank you.)

(Pikachu replies.)

Tracey: "The match is over."

(Tracey says.)

Misty: "It sure is,"

(Misty says.)

(Lorelei calls back Cloyster and walks over to Mew.)

(Then says.)

Lorelei: "Hey Mew, let's end the battle here. And I'm sorry I had to do that."

Mew: "It's okay Lorelei,"

(Mew says.)

(Then Lorelei turns to Pikachu.)

Lorelei: "Are you alright, Pikachu?"

(A little tired, Pikachu says.)

Pikachu: "Pika." (I'm good.)

Lorelei: "Even now. I can tell you really care for your Pokemon, and are confident with your skills as a trainer."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "Not sure if I'm that confident. In fact, I get my skills from learning about Pokemon from Pokemon."

(Mew says.)

Lorelei: "I can tell, but you don't become a great Pokémon trainer just by using your skills. Which I can tell that you know that very well."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "What do you mean?"

(Mew asks.)

Lorelei: "Let me ask you something, didn't your Pokémon, do the battling to earn those badges, as well?"

(Lorelei asks.)

Mew: "Yes. They did. I always believe that the badges show how hard my Pokemon and I worked to train and learn to earn the badges."

(Mew says.)

(Lorelei calmly smiles.)

Lorelei: "Those badges were gifts from your Pokémon that show how much they care for you."

(Mew nods her head and says.)

Mew: "They battle for me, because they care about me."

Lorelei: "That's right. And remember that losing is a very important part of becoming a Pokémon master."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "Why's that?"

(Mew asks.)

Lorelei: "You need to experience the pain of disappointment of defeat. It's easy to win, when you lose, you have to rely on your real strengths, the people and the Pokémon you love and who love you back."

(Lorelei explains.)

(Mew nods her head with a smile.)

Mew: "I'll remember that."

Lorelei: "I know how much you want to compete in the Orange League, but remember, if you want to get there, you have to become closer to your Pokémon then ever before. You'll do that by battling side by side with your Pokémon. As time goes on, I think you'll learn almost as much about your Pokémon as you do about yourselves. And when you've conquered all the gyms in the league, any of you will be presented with an honorable trainer trophy for your accomplishments."

(Mew asks.)

(Lorelei says.)

(Mew says.)

(Lorelei smiles in reply.)

(Suddenly, they hear a familiar voice, James' voice.)

James: "Bravo."

(Then Jessie's voice.)

Jessie: "Very inspiring."

(Everyone looks up to see Team Rocket up ahead in their balloon.)

(They hear James say.)

James: "So sorry to interrupt the pep rally."

(Then Jessie say.)

Jessie: "We'd love to hear the rest of your lecture."

Meowth: "Is it available on CD?"

(Meowth asks.)

(Lorelei calls out.)

Lorelei: "Tape only!"

(Then whispers to the group.)

Lorelei: "$18.95."

(Everyone on the ground falls over in disbelief.)

(when Lorelei reveals the price of her lecture on the table.)

(Team Rocket falls out of their balloon in disbelief and lands on the ground.) Then Team Rocket quickly gets up.

Jessie: Prepare for trouble and defeat.

James: Make it double for Miss Elite.

Jessie: To protect the world from devastation.

James: To unite all peoples within our nation.

Jessie: To denounce the evils of truth and love.

James: To extend our reach to the stars above.

Jessie: Jessie.

James: James.

Jessie: Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light.

James: So surrender now, or prepare to fight, right?

Meowth: Meowth! That's right.

(Dumbfounded, Mew asks.)

Mew: "What are you guys doing here?"

Misty: "I bet they're here to try and steal Lorelei's Pokémon!"

(Misty suspects.)

Tomo: "Yeah!"

(Tomo agrees.)

(But James says.)

James: "That was our original plan."

Jessie: "But we realized that we'd never stand a chance against someone like you, Lorelei."

(Jessie says.)

(Soon the two chuckles.)

Tracey: "For once they actually said something smart."

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "Yeah. Lorelei is one of Kanto's Elite Four."

(Mew says.)

(Just then, Meowth says.)

Meowth: "So we decided to grab Pikachu while it's still pooped."

(Then Jessie and James say.)

Jessie and James: "Let's go, Pikachu."

Mew: "Guess again!"

(Mew denies.)

Pikachu: "Pika," (No way,)

(Pikachu replies.)

Jessie: "I forgot, you'd rather battle."

(Jessie says.)

James: "Losing is very important, isn't it?"

(James replies.)

(Then Meowth says.)

Meowth: "Yeah, losing is so important that's what we based our whole career on."

Tracey: "They're weird."

(Tracey says.)

Mew: "No kidding,"

(Mew says.)

Eevee: "Eevee Eevee Eev Eevee Eevee" (Didn't think they could get any weirder.)

(Eevee comments.)

James: "Call us names if you like, we're not leaving without that Pikachu!"

(James says.)

Mew: "That's what you think!"

(Mew angrily says, holding Pikachu in her arms.)

(Just then, Lorelei steps forward.)

Lorelei: "Don't fight."

(Mew, Pikachu, and Eevee turn to Lorelei, and notices her having a Pokeball.)

(Then she says.)

Lorelei: "There's no reason to argue. Maybe I can cool them down."

(Then Lorelei calls out.)

Lorelei: "I choose you Jynx!"

(And Jynx comes out of her Pokeball and in front of the group.)

(Jessie says in surprise.)

Jessie: "Look, James! It's a Jynx!"

James: "You don't see one of those every day!"

(James says, amazed.)

(Then Lorelei calls out.)

Lorelei: "Ice Beam attack!"

(Jynx performs an Ice Beam that freezes Team Rocket into ice blocks.)

Mew: "Frozen! Alright!"

(Mew says, amazed.)

(Frozen, Meowth says.)

Meowth: "I can't move my Meowth!"

James: "I got the cold shoulder, and everything else!"

(James says.)

(Lorelei says to Jynx.)

Lorelei: "Jynx, use Blizzard and blow them away!"

(Then Lorelei's Jynx performs Blizzard and sends Team Rocket flying as the ice breaks surrounding their heads.)

(Then they are sent blasting off with a trail of sparkling ice behind them.)

(Frozen, James says.)

James: "Looks like..."

Meowth: "Team Rocket's...."

(Meowth says.)

(Then they all say together.)

Team Rocket: "Blasting off again!"

(Soon, Team Rocket is sent flying higher into the air.)

(Mew cheers.)

Mew: "Great job!"

Misty: "That was the coolest!"

(Misty says.)

Tomo: "So awesome!"

(Tomo says.)

(Everyone watches as the ice comes down and sparkles.)

Tracey: "Wow. Look how it sparkles."

(Tracey says.)

Lorelei: "The ice is nice,"

(Lorelei says.)

(Later in the evening, Mew and her friends are going to take their leave for their next adventure.)

(Lorelei says to Mew.)

Lorelei: "The nearest gym is Trovita."

Mew: "Trovita?"

(Mew says, confused.)

Lorelei: "Go to the other side of the island and straight across the bay."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "Okay. Thank you, Lorelei."

(Mew says.)

(Then turns to Pikachu and Eevee.)

Mew: "Okay, Pikachu, Eevee ready for Trovita?

Pikachu: "Pika!" (Sure am!)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee!" (Ready!)

(Eevee says.)

Mew: "Yeah!"

(Mew says.)

Lorelei: "It's been a pleasure meeting you all. And seeing you again, And I hope I've helped you, at least, a little."

(Lorelei says.)

Mew: "You have. And if I ever get into trouble, we'll listen to the wind and think about all the things you taught us, Lorelei."

(Mew says.)

Misty: "And I'm gonna try our best to go with the flow, just like you do, Lorelei."

(Misty says.)

(Then Tracey says.)

Tracey: "And no matter what, I'm always gonna remember that my Pokémon and I are partners and friends."

(Mew turns to Pikachu and Eevee.)

Mew: "Pikachu, Eevee, I just hope that you and I will get to be even better buddies.

Pikachu: "Pikachu," (I'm sure of it.)

(Pikachu says.)

Eevee: "Eevee!" (I'm double sure.)

(Eevee says.)

(Soon, Mew and her friends begin to depart.)

(Lorelei calls out.)

Lorelei: "Goodbye now! And good luck!"

(Mew and her friends wave goodbye to Lorelei as they depart.)

(Mew and her friends have learned a lot from Lorelei today, and keep the lesson she has in mind.)
