章 6: Chapter 6: Lesson Two

Standing in a large forest clearing across from his opponent, Tahmut could be seen smiling before dropping into a defensive stance and raising his arms, blocking an oncoming jab aimed at his snout.

Getting pushed back slightly, Tahmut didn't falter, and using his backwards momentum, spun, swinging his tail towards his opponent's torso, and connecting with a sickening crunch, causing his opponent to crash violently through multiple trees behind him.

Not relenting, Tahmut followed his opponent, and before he could recover his bearings, unleashed a flurry of punches, kicks, and tail swings, his onslaught finally being halted by his opponent's knee finding the center of his stomach.

"Ugh.." Spitting up some bile and blood, Tahmut barely got a chance to recover as his opponent's right hook cleanly hit his bottom jaw, turning his head, and causing him to stumble backwards, consequently tripping over an exposed tree root.

He tried to get up quickly, but he couldn't. Looking down, he noticed a familiar black snake constricting his four legs, her body wrapped around his feet tightly resembling an infinity symbol.

Too busy trying to pry Merget from his feet, Tahmut failed to notice his opponent rearing his fist back for another punch.

Delivering a vicious blow to Tahmut's sternum, his opponent began a flurry of attacks just like Tahmut's own, his final blow however, was a Spartan kick to Tahmut's chest, sending him flying backwards, breaking trees, and ending up half submerged in a small lake.

Getting up this time unimpeded, small cuts showing on his scales, Tahmut once again went to face his opponent, only to discover this time he wasn't alone.

"Lesson two: Always remember lesson one." Tanin said, appearing behind Tahmut as the young Dragon was attempting to swing his fist at his opponent.

Grabbing Tahmut's wings just like he did on their first encounter, Tanin lifted his new student, and proceeded to slam him side to side against the ground, only stopping when he noticed Tahmut's limp form.

"His awareness sucks, dad." The voice of Tahmut's first opponent said matter-of-factly.

"I know Sorhin, that's why he's here." Tanin replied knowingly to his son, scooping up Tahmut with one hand and Merget in the other before flying off toward a mountain in the distance.

Waking up, Tahmut looked around, briefly wondering where he was, only to remember the previous day's events.

"That sucks…" He muttered, rubbing his jaw. Even though it's healed, he can still feel lingering phantom pains.

'It's not that I don't use my senses, I do. My problem Is I get excited, so excited and so focused on whatever opponent I'm fighting at the moment that the other things in my environment I should notice, I wouldn't until it's too late. That's always been a problem of mine I've needed to fix. Haah~ I guess that's why I'm here." Tahmut thought sighing, stepping over the sleeping Merget, and toward the entrance of the cave they were in.

Stretching his wings, Tahmut appreciated the view of Tanin's territory before nose-diving off the edge and making his way to an adjacent mountain. Landing with a light thud, Tahmut walked to one of two cave holes on the mountain's peak, a smile on his face as he anticipates the day's instruction.

"Haha! Look who's up, nice of you to join us." Tahmut heard a familiar voice laugh from behind him.

"Haha.. Where's teacher?" Tahmut asked Sorhin dryly, the latter leaning on a boulder beside him with his arms crossed.

Sharing a striking resemblance to his father, the bipedal Dragon stands 10ft in height with earth green colored scales and two forward facing yellow horns on his head.

"At the moment, not here. Dad said he had some business to attend to pertaining to Dragon apples. Don't ask me the specifics, I didn't ask." Sorhin replied, scratching the back of his head.

"Did he leave any instruction for me?" Tahmut wondered. 'Maybe he left some exercises to help me with my awareness.' He thought hopefully.

"Not to my knowledge, no." Sorhin replied, pushing off from the boulder he was on and taking a spot at Tahmut's side. "He did tell me to relay a message to you, but I forgot. So once I remember it, I'll let you know." He continued, smiling sheepishly.

Shaking his head, Tahmut walked to a tree producing Dragon apples and grabbed a couple before wrapping himself around its base, making himself comfortable.

"Hey Sorhin, while I wait for your dad, in the meantime what do you do for entertainment around here?" Tahmut asked, taking a bite of his Dragon apple before swallowing it whole and reaching for another one.

"Nothing really. Other than hunt or spar, we don't have any other forms of entertainment. This mountain prides itself on strength over leisure. Why? Are you bored?" Sorhin asked genuinely curious, motioning for Tahmut to throw him a Dragon apple.

"Not really. I was just eager to work on my mistakes from yesterday, but now that teacher isn't here I don't really know what do to." Tahmut replied.

"Who says you still can't?" Sorhin asked. "Just because my father, your teacher, isn't here, doesn't mean you can't still train and learn as if he was. Not to sing my own praises, but I know a thing or two about battle awareness. Maybe I can teach you." Sorhin finished laughing loudly, his hands on his hips, and his chest puffed out.

Thinking about it for a moment, Tahmut decided to take his friend up on his offer. Although it's not his teacher, Sorhin was right when he said Tahmut could still learn a thing or two from him. He can't rely on his teacher to guide him through everything, and besides, this training with Sorhin would increase his strength and battle prowess. All in all, it's a win-win in Tahmut's eyes.

"Ill be in your care then, Sorhin." Tahmut replied, a battle ready smile on his face.

"Kahaha! Lets go!" Sorhin shouted, matching Tahmut's grin.

"Any word on the whereabouts of Ddraig or his wielder?" Tiamat asked her servant Luna impatiently.

"Unfortunately, no lady Tiamat. The only word I've heard as of late is the information we heard from the Devil, however,"

"However what?" Tiamat practically shouted, interrupting Luna. Shes becoming more and more frustrated as time goes on and Ddriag is not dead under her foot.

"However, through some rumors and research, I've been able to discover the name of the Sacred Gear the Red Dragon Emperor has been sealed in. Apparently, the white one is sealed in something called 'Divine Dividing', while the red one is sealed in a gear called the 'Boosted Gear'. But unfortunately, that's all I know." Luna explained to Tiamat.

"Boosted Gear..." Tiamat repeated, imprinting the name of her ex-spouses prison into her memory.

'Once I find you... Haah~ I can't wait...' Tiamat thought, a smile blooming on her face thinking about what she would, and will do once she finds Ddriag again.

"And what of Tanin? How goes his talk about the Dragon apples?" Tiamat asked.

If not for Tahmut, Tiamat wouldn't care for what happens to the Dragon apples. But her son simply adores them, and as a good mother, she will try her best to prevent them from disappearing.

"Lord Tanin seems to be having difficulty finding a place for the Dragon apples to grow and prosper. As it stands, his and your mountains are among the last few that seem capable of nurturing such a thing. However, as you know, your two mountains cannot feed the entire Dragon population. To rectify that, I've heard that lord Tanin has gone to meet a high ranking Devil about procuring more fertile land for the apples, but that's all I've been able to find out for now." Luna replied.

"I see…" Tiamat muttered, mulling over the information Luna just gave her.

'A Devil? But why? Surely he knows the history between our kind. Is the Underworld so fruitful that he would engage in talks with them? Was there a deal? Devils are known for being users of contracts. What did Tanin make? What did he give away? Haah~ I shouldn't jump to conclusions, it's just a rumor after all. Until Luna or I find out more information, I can only brainstorm.' Tiamat thought, hoping if the rumors were true, and he did talk with a Devil, Tanin didn't do something stupid.
