Seeing Nawaki's confused expression, Reiki almost laughed.
"Brother Nawaki, we all need to get stronger as soon as possible," he said encouragingly. "That way, our teachers can feel more at ease."
"Brother Nawaki has great potential. If you push yourself, you'll definitely improve even more," Reiki continued, noticing Nawaki's slight confusion and choosing to motivate him directly.
"Really?" Nawaki brightened. "I knew it! Since my sister is so powerful, I must have some talent too. I just haven't found the right path for training yet. Reiki, will you train with me?"
Nawaki's excitement was contagious as he quickly grabbed Reiki's hand.
"Of course," Reiki agreed without hesitation. "Tonight, let's start with chakra refinement. You have more chakra than I do, but perseverance is key. Tomorrow morning, we'll go for a workout together."
Reiki felt a bit puzzled. As Tsunade's younger brother and a pure-blooded Senju, Nawaki possessed an enormous amount of chakra. Yet, despite this, he struggled to rise beyond a third-rate ninja, and in the original story, it seemed even worse during the Second Great Ninja War.
Adding to the mystery, Reiki had gained Wood Release abilities from treating Nawaki—a clear indicator that Nawaki's potential hadn't been fully tapped yet. Even if Reiki's guess was incorrect, he was confident that his medicine could elevate Nawaki's abilities.
Given Danzo's shameless methods, it was only a matter of time before he made a move against Nawaki. Improving Nawaki's strength was the best way to protect him.
With Nawaki returning to his room, satisfied and eager to refine his chakra, Reiki also began his own practice.

Over the following days, Reiki had planned to join the combat team with Kurenai, Hyuga, and Asuma. However, with recent events surrounding Kurenai, the team had disbanded.
In the meantime, Reiki became a task-focused "mission maniac" in the hospital, while Nawaki earned the title of "training maniac" at the ninja school. Nawaki's dedication to training at the school's training grounds inspired his classmates, sparking a new wave of passion among the students.
This shift in attitude led to students even boycotting their cultural studies, often opting to refine chakra instead of paying attention in class.
In the Hokage's office, Sarutobi Hiruzen looked at the report with a sour expression. Cultural studies were crucial for instilling the Will of Fire in Konoha's youth, and he couldn't afford to let that be disrupted.
"Arrange a Hokage lecture," he ordered. "All teachers, students, and their parents should attend."
Sarutobi was certain that his lecture would reignite the students' enthusiasm.
Before the teachers left, he noticed another name in the report: Nawaki. Tsunade's younger brother had spurred this recent surge in student motivation. Although this was generally a positive development, the timing couldn't have been worse.
"Send for Tsunade. I need to discuss something with her," Sarutobi decided. He had a few questions that needed answering.
---
Meanwhile, at the hospital...
"You… can't you leave a task or two for others?" Tsunade looked at Reiki with exasperation. Having been occupied with other matters, she returned to find that Reiki had nearly cleared the hospital's task list. Throughout the day, several medical ninjas had even complained about Reiki's fervor.
"I'm just trying to gain more experience," he said, sounding a bit guilty. "Since you've been busy, I've had to find ways to practice on my own."
Tsunade eyed him with interest. "What kind of medical ninjutsu do you want to learn?" she asked, crossing her arms.
"Forbidden techniques," Reiki replied calmly.
Tsunade was momentarily stunned. She herself had mastered several forbidden medical techniques, including the Reanimation Technique.
"Alright," she said after a pause. "I'll teach you a forbidden technique today. Let's head to the advanced lab."
Once there, Tsunade instructed Reiki to start by learning the Palm Immortal Technique.
"Focus on releasing chakra to activate the cells in the target's body, then control it to match the target's life energy," she explained, demonstrating on a dead fish. In seconds, the fish sprang back to life.
"Did you catch all that?" she asked, turning to Reiki.
"Uh… I think so," he admitted sheepishly. "But I still don't fully understand the technique."
"You don't know the Palm Immortal Technique yet?" Tsunade asked, bewildered. "Your healing ability is so advanced; you've been using it all this time without knowing this technique?"
"That's right," Reiki nodded.
So, they started with the basics of the Palm Immortal Technique. As evening fell, the lab was littered with dead fish, a testament to Reiki's continued struggle with the technique.
Tsunade, watching him practice with unyielding dedication, knew she couldn't give up on him. Even a genius had things they needed to work hard to master.
"Teacher, this fish is dead again," Reiki said, looking frustrated. "How about I try it on an actual patient next time?"
Tsunade suppressed her irritation. "You'd dare practice on a real patient… Alright, go home for now."
Watching him leave, Tsunade pondered. Even geniuses had their limits, but Reiki's resolve might just allow him to overcome them all.
