章 130: Chapter 130: Flour-Faced Plans and Tactical Shifts

Merlin, despite his usual calm demeanour, faced an unexpected confrontation from Lancelot. Lancelot's frustration had reached a boiling point, and he directed it at Merlin, who, despite his helpful intentions, found himself on the receiving end of a kicking. Merlin was kicked to the ground but maintained a wry smile, touching his nose and speaking to Lancelot with a mix of pain and patience.

"You seem to think that's how you treat someone offering help," Merlin said with a grimace.

Lancelot, still fuming, did not relent and continued to assault Merlin. The knight had strong reasons to distrust Merlin, especially given the past issues. "The last time you helped me, I ended up imprisoned for a year. If your help leads to another trap, I might end up locked away for life!"

Merlin, realizing he needed to defend himself, began to fight back. He used his hands to fend off Lancelot's attacks, but his 'Future Vision' allowed him to find a moment to grasp Lancelot's hand firmly. "I assure you, I didn't deceive you before."

Merlin continued, "Morgan and Lott and I are not allies. We are not on the same side."

Lancelot's scepticism was palpable. "Not on the same side, yet your student is the Chief Knight?"

Merlin's smile turned bitter. "That's a situation I'm not pleased with either."

Lancelot decided that he didn't need further explanations. "It's pointless to discuss it further. I'll handle things on my own." He turned away but paused when Merlin threw a pamphlet towards him.

"What's this?" Lancelot inquired.

Merlin replied, "It lists the locations of various giants and other mythical beings. If you're looking to make a name for yourself and improve your skills, this is my advice."

Lancelot took the pamphlet, considering it. "If this information proves accurate, I'll appreciate it."

Merlin, slightly frustrated, added, "You still doubt me."

Lancelot looked at him with determination. "If you want me to trust you, then tell me—are Galahad's claims true? And who is his mother?"

Merlin responded, "You'll have to fully believe me before I can reveal more about his mother."

Lancelot, with a hint of resignation, said, "I'll verify the pamphlet's contents first. If they are genuine, I might reconsider my stance and approach you."

With that, Lancelot left, leaving Merlin to wipe the sweat off his forehead and reflect on the challenges of convincing the younger generation.

"These young people are much harder to persuade than those of King Uther's time," Merlin muttered to himself as he awaited Lancelot's response.

Lott found immense satisfaction in seeing his granary full of food. The sight of abundance brought him a sense of comfort. However, he knew that it was just a temporary relief. "This is good for now, but next, we need to focus on farming and dealing with Vortigern's army," he mused.

Camelot's reputation in France had been severely damaged, but with people starving, survival took precedence over reputation. Lott planned to resume farming, seek revenge on Vortigern, unify Britain, and address the decline of the gods. If these efforts failed, he might even have to turn his attention to France.

Reflecting on past conflicts, Lott considered that, unlike the previous world lines where Morgan and Altria's rivalry led to civil strife in Camelot, he might have a chance to overcome these issues. He envisioned a future where he could become a significant figure in Europe, like Charlemagne's heirs shaping France, Germany, and Italy.

When Morgan returned to the palace, she found Lott and Gawain covered in flour, resembling two large rodents who had escaped the granary. "How did you both end up like this?" she asked with a mix of amusement and exasperation.

Lott, looking embarrassed, explained, "I took Gawain to explore the granary and teach her about the importance of food."

Morgan, shaking her head, sighed. "You're both a mess. I'll have the maids clean up after you."

She then tapped Little Gawain on the forehead, who looked up with a look of confusion and grievance. Little Gawain, feeling unfairly treated, wondered why her father was not receiving the same treatment.

Morgan, though frustrated, acknowledged the need for a bath and remarked, "Back then, your mother and I journeyed from Orkney to the southernmost point of England, and I never felt this embarrassed."

Lott tried to deflect by saying, "Your mother was a magician and avoided confrontation."

Morgan shot back, "You should also take a bath!"

Lott quickly gathered Little Gawain and headed to the bathroom, respecting the separate bathing customs.

After their bath, Lott returned to the bedroom where Morgan was already serving dinner. "You're done? Hurry up and eat. I'll serve you some soup," Morgan said, filling a bowl for him.

Lott eyed Morgan suspiciously, thinking, Nothing is ever free. When did my wife become so considerate? This thought caused Morgan's frustration to flare.

"I've finally done something nice for you, and you're suspicious?" Morgan retorted, though her irritation was more playful than serious.

Lott responded, "Whenever you're too nice, it usually means I have more work to do."

Morgan rolled her eyes, understanding that more tasks awaited them. After finishing their meal, Gawain went off to train with Altria, while Morgan and Lott retreated to the study.

Morgan addressed Lott, "Now that we have enough food, should we prepare the army for action?"

Lott inquired, "You mean to deal with Vortigern immediately?"

Morgan nodded, ready to move forward with their plans.
