章 54: Chapter 54: First Mission (3)
As Shibo read the letter, tears started falling from his eyes.
'Is it a marriage proposal letter or a breakup letter?' Ken thought seeing him cry.
"So, what's your decision?" Ken asked after he saw that Shibo had completely read the letter.
"I.... *Sniff * *Sniff.."
"Kabuto give this guy a tissue or something," Ken said disgusted as the guy kept wiping his green mucus with his hand.
Kabuto handed him a tissue.
"Thank you! I did not think that she would still remember me. I met her four years ago. She had been targeted by some bandits but she managed to escape from them. I found her near the forest injured so I....."
Before Shibo continued his story about how he found the love of his life, Ken interrupted him.
"Just tell us whether you want to marry her or not?"
Itachi rebuked him for being so insensitive.
"Yes, Definitely Yes. I would definitely marry her."
"Good, We will rest today inside the town. We will leave tomorrow in the morning. Meet us at the Town gate." Shikuro said
The next morning, they left the town. They did not have to hire a carriage for Shibo since he was a shinobi himself and could handle such long travels.
On their journey, Shibo asked them several questions "So you guys are already genin huh? From your height, you all must be between 10-11 years old. That's impressive."
"Actually I am just 7 years old." Itachi said
"I am 6 years old." Ken said with pain in his voice. It was because of the fact that being so young came with its shortcomings and in his case his short height.
"Well, I am 8," Kabuto said in a proud voice as he was the adult of the team.
Shibo though was shocked to hear that the three genins who were escorting him were all combined younger than him.
'A bunch of kids are already genins and are already taking missions outside of their village and I am still a genin for 10 years.'
Looking at them, something sparked inside him.
'Mimi is a noble. I don't want to hear people telling her that she married a useless genin.
I would train harder and become a higher rank shinobi for my Mimi.' Shibo determined himself to train harder and become a successful shinobi.
He then continued the conversation with the genins.
"You should all be pretty talented and from big clans to become shinobis at such a young age."
" I am an orphan, I don't know about my clan."
"I am the son of the patriarch of the Uchiha clan."
He was receiving one shock after another but the biggest one was yet to come.
"I am the grandson of the third Hokage."
"Grand...son... of the third Hokage?" He mumbled shocked at this revelation.
He was just a countryside medic-nin, he had only met one or two civilian jonins that were in charge of the town. But he was being escorted by descendants of such 'Legendary' people like the son of Evil Eye Fugaku and the third Hokage, the professor's grandson.
'As expected of my Mimi, she made such a powerful team to deliver her letter to me and protect me from any dangers. She truly loves me.' He thought
If Ken heard his thoughts, he would call him delusional since he would have not taken the mission if not for the fact that the mission was giving him a lot of money even if it was divided among four people.
"Say, Are you marrying this Lady Mimi for money or something? Don't worry you can tell me the truth, I won't snitch on you, I promise." Ken was bored during the long journey so he wanted to do a little gossip.
Shobo looked at Ken as if he was crazy.
"How could you even say that? My love for Lady Mimi is true and eternal. Let me tell you the story about how we fell in Love....." While Shibo was telling his love story once again, Ken noticed Shikuro lagging behind them, he was constantly reducing his speed and falling back, away from the rest of them.
He was not the only one who noticed it. Itachi too noticed this detail.
'Is he tired? That's not possible since his physical strength is way above ours and since we are not tired, he should not be not either. Then why?' While Ken could not come to an accurate conclusion, Itachi was quick to analyze the situation.
"Ken, Kabuto. Formation 5, protect the mission purpose." Itachi said in a low voice as Ken and Kabuto instinctively moved into formation.
Kabuto was directly behind Shibo while Itachi was right in front of Shibo and Ken was in front of Itachi. They were moving in a straight line. They did not show any expressions on their face though as if nothing was wrong.
Shibo was surprised by the sudden change in situation but his experience as a shinobi came in handy as he followed their instructions which were whispered to him by Kabuto.
It then clicked into Ken's mind why Shikuro must have moved away from them.
'His insects might have sensed someone likely enemies. So it must be that he wanted us to fight them alone since he thinks whoever is after us is weak and we could handle ourselves. Or he wants to separate the enemy as the enemy's strongest shinobis would focus on him rather than us while we would deal with the others.' Ken was fully alert, his senses picking up every single sound or movement around him.
