The morning light filtered through the dense canopy of the forest, illuminating the lush foliage and the hundreds of creatures that call it home. The birds sing their morning songs, the squirrels scamper up trees, and the many creatures start their search for food. It's a new day in the forest, full of possibilities and life.
But although the light spread far and wide, it found itself unable to penetrate the seemingly translucent portal. As although it looked quite a lot like water, it was far from it.
But even if the morning light failed to reach the slumbering goblins, the child did not. With a single order from him, the sleeping group awoke with a start.
It was a new day, and continuous productivity was necessity to those who wish to accomplish something.
So the child got all the goblins up and ready to start another day of work.
When all the goblins woke up though, they were a bit surprised so see four new goblins with them, but they didn't put it into mind much. It was already a common occurance for goblins to spawn out of the dungeon core suddenly for no reason.
So, the group o goblins got out of the dungeon and went over towards their respective work places. Of course, they did so only after getting a sip of the life water on the ground. No work can be done on an empty stomach after all.
Soon, more stones stones were brought in and new Bricks were made. With the wall's foundation already done, it was time to start building higher. But with the size of the bricks, it could be seen how much of hassle it can be.
Luckily, the bricks had wheels, so the goblins only needed to put a board on the walls and push the bricks foward. When on top, they would then push them where they want them to be.
Once the bricks are close, they would pour some logical cement on the bricks below, where they will let the bricks rest. The magical cement will the harden, making the bricks stick to each other.
So like that, the goblins continued building the tall walls. And as he st went on, two more goblins were created. Thus speeding up the wall building.
So in almost no time, the second and third of level of bricks was fully layed. Then came the fourrh level. But as one could guess, the fourth level was already above the normal goblins height. Asking them to put a ramp on the edge and push it up would not be possible. Even If the hobgoblin were to help and they do fare well with completing the fourth level, what about about the fifth? At that point, the wall would be taller than even hob-goblin.
So this was something the child had to solve early. Since if he did, he would not only save energy, but time as well.
After thinking for a minute, the child came up with an idea.
"How about i use an elevator?"
Of course it is not the high tech construct created by human minds in his past life. As such a construct would surely break down in front of ether. So the child opted for a more simpler construct. One that uses pulleys or gear to work. Such that it does not cause a second and first order clash.
In no time, the elevator was complete. The hob-goblins were then ordered to pull it out of the portal and to the wall. There, the elevator was then installed adjacent to the wall.
Once placed, the goblins no longer needed to push up the bricks. All they needed to do was push the bricks on top of the elevator. Then, the hob-goblins woupd the use their muscle strength to push the wheel situated on the ground in a clockwise motion.
When turning, the wheel will pull down the taunt rope and the tie down on itself. As the rope gets pulled down, it will pull up the elevator, this getting the bricks higher up the wall.
In the end, the brick will reach its destination and the goblins on top of the wall will receive and pull the brick and put it on the top wall. There it would then be pushed tow here it shall stay for as long as the wall stands.
Like that, the day went on with the goblins working hard to build the walls. At first the goblins were a bit confused as to what they were doing and why. But as the wall grew taller with each brick layed, the goblins got a good idea of what was happening. Well, some of them did, as some of the goblins an no goblins were till in the dark of what was the use of this... tall thing.
But it did not matter to them, since creating this thing was rewarding to them, they saw no reason to care. So they build the wall without a complaint.
After all, the treats the child kept giving them were ever-changing and never the same. He didn't want the goblins to get used to one certain treat after all. If that happened, they would get bored and lose motivation to get it. And would instead prefer to do work when they just wanted to.
To make the goblins even more energetic, the child had been experimenting on giving the life water a 'hunger' property. Such that whoever drank it would continue being hungry. But their bodies would still be energetic.
In this way, they would be forced to work more in order to satiate their hunger and use the excess energy inhibiting their bodies.
Yes... he child wanted the goblin's lives to e tied to him. Creating a system in which their very life depends on working for him.
With that system slowly developing, the goblins built the wall layer by layer. And as it grew taller, the time finally came for the towers to be built. Which was a familiar sight to a small group of bow wielding goblins down below.
