"Don't give up on me, Ella. Please don't lose faith in me." Desperate to mend the fractured trust, Jasper pleaded with her. "I'll do everything in my power to protect you. Sebastian can't hurt you, not as long as I'm alive. He must face me before he reaches you." 

"Wow! What can I expect from you?" Ella grumbled angrily. "You can only talk about fighting and killing people, right? You won't consider going to the cops and surrendering yourself. But you will fight, risking your life. Do you think I'll be happy to see you hurt?" 

Jasper was relieved to see the worry for him in her eyes. Even though Ella was furious with him, she still loved him. It was a positive sign, and Jasper saw a glimmer of hope. He believed she would never leave him.
