After the wedding of Rosaline, there is hardly any exchange of letters between his sister and himself. He wanted to know how she was doing; thus, with only Virgil as his confidence, he sent a few of the knights undercover to check the situation in Rante. There were steady reports; he was impressed with how Rosa ended up taking care of the castle. He was angry with her choice of groom, but it was a change in her. She did seem to mould herself in the place. It was a surprise for Nicholas, but there was still an emptiness in him.
