章 165: To An Old Library

~~~(Location: The Jedi Temple, Coruscant)~~~
"Are you doing any better?"
The question does nothing to alleviate the lingering sickness. Nothing I can really do about it, and that's what makes me upset. Nate is carrying me on his back as we walk through the exposed hallways of the old Jedi Temple.
My lack of a response is enough for him to stop asking questions. I asked him to make the feeling go away, but he told me that it was something he won't be able to do for me all the time.
Basically, he's saying I have to find out how to deal with this. Which is true in the end. Holding my hand when things aren't actually all that bad isn't a habit he wants me to get used to. Satele and Eassa tried their best to help me, but right now.
I'm at a point of exhaustion and just relaxing as Nate carries me on his back. My mind shifts to a time in my life when my mom would do this for me when I was a kid.
"Satele, how much further until we reach the old library? I know you want to find some information there, but I'm unsure whether or not it's even worth spending a lot of time looking for something that was likely stolen during The Sacking."
Nate focuses his attention on his old Master since he's not getting any conversation from me. Eassa is the one that memorized the entire place; he should be asking her.
A short sigh comes from Satele, and instead of answering, we stop in front of a door, and she uses The Force to move the heavy and old doors. As they do, my eyes are filled with what used to be the great library of the Jedi.
The library has gone by many names over the time of its tenure on Coruscant.
"We're already here. This is the place where most of the knowledge the Jedi kept once rested. When The Sacking happened, we saved as much as we could. And whatever we couldn't was destroyed."
Nate and I agree on a lot of things, and most of those things regard The Republic and The Empire. The Sith and The Jedi. But one place I know I care more about than Nate is the preservation of knowledge. Nate doesn't care about knowledge.
Not in the way you're thinking. I should've been more specific, but it's like he doesn't care about the knowledge of The Jedi and The Sith. But it makes sense, given how different he is compared to all of them.
"The story's you told me about this place... It seemed bigger when I was a kid... Why are you wanting to come here anyway, Satele? Wouldn't most of what you'd ask be found on Tython?"
My body and mind are too tired to keep up with this anymore. I slowly close my eyes and drift off to sleep.

I sense Nella fall asleep, and now that leaves me alone with Satele and Eassa. My old Master leads us through the broken and damaged halls of the library. There is a lingering feeling of sadness here. One that tells the story of tragedy.
From the Sith's point of view, evil is a necessary function of life. At least, that's how I interpret most of their actions. They are the balance to the Jedi.
"What I've come all this way for is information that might answer some questions I have about you, Nate. There is a lot that I kept from you growing up, but I feel that you're aware of those truths now."
She's referring to my connection with The Mortis Gods. I don't know how much she knows about all of it, but what I do know is she'll start digging.
"What's she mean, Nate?"
Eassa makes her concern and thoughts known to the both of us. She's the only one here that doesn't have a clue as to what's being discussed. Nella is asleep, but she knows the truth about me. Satele has some insight, but not the whole story.
My childhood romance is the only one that's in the dark.
"That's not something for you to know, Eassa. The less you know, the safer you are."
For the first time since I've known Eassa, I witness an expression on her face that I've not seen before. Something akin too...
