~~~(POV: Nathen Opal)~~~
~~~(Location: Senate Building, Coruscant)~~~
The room we're in is lavish and filled with paintings that depict the history of The Republic. Old Chancellors, great Jedi's, and military leaders. Nella is sitting on the couch; we're waiting in this room for Satele and Marisa to finish up their private chat.
I don't think it'll take much longer. Satele and Marisa have probably grown close over the years, but I'm not going to pry into their minds to find out. I don't do that to friends and family.
"Should I be nervous?"
My Apprentice's voice sounds meek and unconfident from her spot on the couch. All I do is continue circling around the room. Looking at the painting. I would've thought they use Holo-grams. However, this surprises me.
I can feel how nervous she is at my lack of response. It's a little cruel to keep her waiting like this. I remember when I was much younger than her with similar thoughts in my head.
"It's a natural reaction to meeting Satele. She's the most famous woman in the galaxy. Everyone knows who she is and how important her role in the war is. However, those that really know her would be surprised."
Satele has changed a lot since I left her side on that fateful day. Hoth. That world was a turning point in my life. The lies of the Jedi were exposed to me. But I didn't know how to react. I was still a child.
Nella stands up from the couch and makes her way over to me. I turn my attention away from the out-of-place paintings in this advanced galaxy.
"What are they talking about?"
So that's what she's worried about. Marisa and Satele having a private conversation would give a couple of signs to Nella that it's about her. I don't think what they're talking about has anything to do with us. House Opal is the strongest House on Alderaan.
Marisa is the head of that House, and Nella is her daughter. Along with me being her Nephew, she has some of the greatest pull in the galaxy. People know this, and some try to take advantage of that. Satele is one of them, but not in a malicious way.
"I'm not going to spy on them for you, Nella. Besides, I doubt that anything they're discussing has something to do with us. We're not involved in the war and politics. We have no roles to play here. Your mother, on the other hand, is the head of a powerful House."
Nella is trained in the ways of Senators and Diplomats. I'm surprised she isn't coming to these conclusions herself. She's usually really smart about that stuff.
"I know... It's just I know my mom is really protective of me, and I don't want to be taken back to Alderaan. Not after the adventures, we've been on already. It'd be so boring."
A life as exciting as mine would make living a noble life on Alderaan boring. Well, normal for a noblewoman such as Nella who stands to inherit the Opal House.
"Marisa is protective of you. That's for certain. But she knows that I can protect you, and that's one of the reasons she even let you leave Alderaan with me. The safest place for you is by my side."
Nella is a powerful Force Sensitive. And that causes people of both Jedi and Sith origin to seek her out. Marisa did an amazing job of hiding her. But she made the right decision about letting me take her. I'm not Jedi or Sith.
I'm family, and she knows I'll do everything in my power to keep Nella safe. Before the conversation can continue, the door to the room opens, and Satele and Marisa both walk in.
"I think now is a good time for formal introductions."
Satele rests her eyes on Nella, who's standing next to me. I look at my cousin and give her a little push. She makes her way over to Satele and bows her head.
"It's an honor to meet you in person, Grandmaster Satele. I'm a huge fan of your works militarizing against the Sith Empire when you did. It was the boldest thing a Jedi has done since Revan."
This is ironic, considering that Revan is Satele's ancestor.
"And it's an honor to meet the young one my old Padawan has taken as his."
Well, I was never Knighted. So in the eyes of the Order. I'd still be a Padawan.
