Chapter 63
The man's eyes opened wide in surprise before they started tearing up. He took a moment to compose himself before he began telling Yuhao his story.
The man, who now identified himself as Liu Wang, grew up in this city. He was a rank forty-two Spirit Ancestor, so while he wasn't an exceptional talent, he was still had above average talent with him being over rank forty by the age of thirty. Two days ago, just as he, along with his wife were returning from their daughter's spirit awakening ceremony, they were ambushed by two eery, masked men.
He was however only able to restrain one and therefore, as he was fighting, the other had captured his wife and daughter. His wife had no spirit power of her own, so she was unable to defend herself and likewise, his daughter while she had awakened at rank 5, was easily overpowered. The man who captured the two as hostages told Liu Wang to release his partner or he would kill and wife and daughter.
With no option but to comply, Liu Wang released the man, who promptly stabbed him in the thigh with a hidden dagger before backing away. When the two masked men released his wife, and just as she was almost to him, they launched several attacks at her undefended back. While Wang tried to defend her, he was hindered by his leg injury and missed one of the attacks. This attack struck his wife directly in the spine and killed her. When he focused back on the two men, he realised in that short time they had disappeared, taking with them his daughter.
As Liu Wang finished the story, he collapsed on the floor in tears. Yuhao who had lost a fair amount of his empathy over the past 10 years awkwardly put his hand on Wang's shoulders in support. They stayed like that for several minutes with Lui Wang crying and Yuhao supporting him while he tried to think about what he was told.
Yuhao squeezed Wang's shoulder as he said, "I'm sorry you had to go through that, my friend. However, I don't understand why they would attack you? Do you have some secret, but not so secret clan or status? Do you have some kind of divine treasure that they were trying to steal from you?"
Liu Wang shook his head before replying, "They haven't contacted me or anything. It isn't like I have anything like that…Well I do…but I haven't told anyone, not even my wife knew about that."
His curiosity peaked, Yuhao raised one eyebrow as he asked, "Can I ask what 'that' is?"
Liu Wang looked up at him unsure for a moment before sighing once again, "I guess I have nothing else to lose. If you can save my daughter, I will give it to you willingly. It is something called Samsara Jade. I found it in an abandoned, collapsed mineshaft not three days ago. It was in this completely black, wooden box. According to a broken piece of parchment inside the box, it allows someone to enter a state of rebirth, losing all of their power but awakening their potential in turn. I was planning on giving it to my wife, however now, that is no longer possible…"
Yuhao's eyes widened, 'Samsara Jade? I haven't heard of that before but if my guess is correct, this is something that I have a very good use for.'
With that thought over, Yuhao had a newfound determination to help this Liu Wang. "Since it wasn't that item that they attacked you for, or any other reason, especially with them not contacting you, that could only mean you weren't the target. You said that you were returning from your daughter's spirit awakening. What spirit did she awaken?"
Wang tilted his head slightly as he replied, "She awakened a spirit beast called the Dark Moon Eagle."
Yuhao nodded. While this doesn't create a clear picture, it did support one of his theories. "Come here at the same time tomorrow. I will spend the day until then, trying to find your daughter."
Liu Wang nodded happily as he clasped Yuhao's hands in his own, "Thank you so much! As long as you can find her, I will give you my Samsara Jade."
Yuhao nodded and ran off into the darkness of the alley. As he ran, Amra spoke up in his mind, "You know I could have read his memories to find out where he stored the jade, Yuhao?"
Yuhao shook his head, "You should know me enough by now Amra. While I am not a people's hero who will simply help and save everyone in my sight, I am not that much of a bastard to do that to a broken man like he is. If I can't find his daughter, then we can discuss this. Until then, let's just focus on this first."
"Mhm," Amra hummed back.
"Since you are awake Amra, do you have any ideas on how to find her or was to find them?" Yuhao enquired.
Amra sighed, "Not particularly…Most of the methods I would have used when I was alive don't work with our situation. Maybe if you had an energy imprint of the two attackers, I could use that to determine their location. Without that though, no I don't. I wasn't much of a tracker in my time."
"Hoho!" The Sage's voice abruptly rang out. "You say you cannot help out little Yuhao here you old lion, but I can. Doesn't this just go to show my superiority?"
Yuhao grinned, "You have a method, Sage buddy?"
"Sage buddy?" The Sage repeated confusedly, "I do have a method, but what is this whole Sage buddy thing? I do hope that isn't what you plan on referring to me by?"
Amra grinned mischievously, while Yuhao shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. Just something that came to me randomly. I don't call Amra, Emperor, so calling you simply, Sage, feels weird to me."
"Hmm, that's understandable. I would rather you not call me Sage buddy though…" The Sage nodded as he said this, oblivious to the grinning Amra. "Why don't you give me some name like you did Amra?"
Yuhao scratched his chin as he got to thinking, 'What would be a good match for him…? There are those classic names such as Baihu, Byakko and Baekho from Earth that mean White Tiger. They don't feel right though…He seems to me that he would like a name centred around his power over his species, since while he is prideful of his species, he is more so of his power. But what stands out about his power? Powerful…overwhelming…spirit…pure…energy…war…destruction…div- destruction? Destruction could work since his sage inheritance back when Dai Mubai activated it become more destructive and hence allowed him to take on the war moniker. What is a name that coincides with destruction? There is the Greek name Pertho? Nah. Apollymi? No way…Shiva? Shiva. Shiva!'
Yuhao turned his mental gaze towards the Sage, "How about Shiva? It means 'The Destroyer' so it matches with your powers."
The Sage looked thoughtful before nodding, "Very well, you can now refer to me as Shiva. It is a much better name than Amra, haha…Well with that sorted, the way I can help you out is by essentially boosting one of your abilities. More particularly your Spiritual Detection skill is what I am thinking. If I use some of my energy, your radius should be able to extend across one-ninth of the city. From there you just need to reactivate the skill eight more times in eight different locations spread out across the city. If they are in the city, you will undoubtedly find them."
Yuhao smiled but then frowned, "That sounds helpful, but I don't think my bran will be able to handle it. Even with everything I have going for me, I don't think at this current point in time I will be able to perceive all the details in the radius and process all of that information at the same time."
"Don't worry, I can at least help you with that," Amra said, contributing.
Yuhao grinned, "Very well, let me move back to the plaza for the first usage."
Over the next two hours and thirty minutes, Yuhao and his mind spirit beast crew had moved from one location to the next six times. Every time, Yuhao would release his Spiritual Detection skill which would promptly get boosted by Shiva's perfect spirit power control and strength. Amra, in turn, absorbed all of the information seamlessly, avoiding Yuhao from overloading himself with it. These two beasts, while they quarrelled like an old married couple, or to use another reference, like a certain Red Dragon Emperor and White Dragon Emperor, they both worked perfectly in sync, Amra with his spiritual abilities and Shiva with his spirit abilities, to get the job done.
Finally, on their sixth attempt, Amra shouted out, "Ahh-ha!"
"You got them?" Yuhao enthusiastically asked.
Amra grinned, "Yep! Well unless there is another group of people keeping a young, black-haired girl in a green dress locked up in their house. Furthermore, they are not too far from here. Only one hundred metres or so. Also, there is only two of them as Liu Wang said so you shouldn't have any issues."
Yuhao grinned back, "Well let us go save the damsel in distress and get us that Samsara Jade!"

ProProcrastination Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I know Yuhao keeps getting all of these treasures and lucky encounters with spirit beasts, but what can you expect from a Douluo Dalu fanfiction xD
