Everyone froze for a few seconds, before the laugh of a single soldier started them up again.
"Why aren't you stopping!" Ross screamed again, shaking Mai.
"You're stupid," one soldier laughed. "She ain't worth sh*t!" Ross was startled, and his grip loosened. Mai took this time to wriggle out before hitting him in his shins. After subduing him, Mai stood before the cruel army.
Nicholas tugged at her arm. "Let's go, Maria," he quietly said.
Mai shrugged him arm off, not even blinking for fear of missing their treatment of the common people. This was her fault. Ignorance does not equate forgiveness.
The two stood before the army before they were joined by the others. Heith placed a hand on Mai's shoulders in a silent exchange. She looked up at him and nodded, a grim expression on her face. It seemed like her other plan would have to be set into motion.
Something came up IRL, so make do with ~200 word chapters. Sorry. It'll probably iron out by the end of this week.
