章 1: Transmigrated as Gu Yue Chi Yan

The spring rain quietly rained down on Qing Mao Mountain.

'Where am I?' A young man with a full head of lush crimson hair quietly gazed outside the window, full of complex feelings inside. His deep-blue eyes were full of shock, seeming to sparkle with lightning, as he observed the scenery outside.

The building which he resided in was clearly located at an elevation, thus the boy could easily see the many bamboo buildings built in ancient chinese style on a mountain-side below.

It was visibly already late into the night, yet nearly all of the buildings still shone with multitudes of lights coming from within them and the lanterns outside, making the town scenery look quite magical.

The young man didn't read that many novels, but he read a few. Among them there was the "Reverend Insanity" which caused him to lose interest in the majority of other low-quality works. Right now, seeing the beautiful sight, he couldn't help but think of a mental image of a village from the novel in question that he had read the most, as it fit the description of the scenery in front of him the most.

'Is this really the Gu Yue Village? The Gu Yue Village in the Gu World?' His heart secretly thought.

The boy stretched out his hand, his sight fixated on his own young and delicate-looking hands, then slowly clenched them, embracing the truth of this reality with all his might.

Others might be terrified or depressed when they realize that they may have come to the Gu World, but on him.

To him, if it was really the truth, then it would be the most joyous thing that had happened in his life, because here he had a chance to experience a very exciting and interesting life, become a powerful existence, reach a higher realm as a person and perhaps attain Immortality, becoming God.

The sound of the drizzling rain hitting softly against the window sill filling his ears, he gazed at the village outside with melancholy in his eyes. The boy sighed, 'I actually transmigrated, it really feels like a dream.'

But after already performing several reality checks, he knew it clearly: no matter where he was now, this was definitely not a dream.

'I'm probably in the Gu Yue Village, there is nothing else in my mind that fits the description better, but who am I, hmmm?...' The boy collected himself together after a while and looked down at his new body with a frown, pondering.

Looking down, his new body was slim and seemed to be in good shape, neither thin nor fat. He wore a red silk shirt that was definitely high class clothing, having a dragon embroidered on it.

After a while, the boy kneaded his brows deeper. He didn't receive any memories that belonged to the original host of this body at all.

He looked around.

That the room that he was in was big. It was magnificent with meticulously carved wooden furniture and the floor was soft handmade carpet. It made him think of words: the room of a young master or a prince.

Feeling a little excited, the boy started rummaging through the place.

Soon, he found a large body-mirror inside one of the closets. Looking at the reflection in the mirror, he was dazed momentarily, before suddenly feeling hot and incredibly excited inside when he saw how good-looking his new body was.

He really was incredibly handsome!

Knock, knock, knock.

Just as he was narcissistically admiring his new body in the mirror, he suddenly heard knocking sounds from behind the door.

"Young Master Chi Yan, your grandfather has just returned from the clan pavilion and is calling you to his room," a male voice said.

The boy's eyebrows wrinkled and he inadvertently turned toward the door, toward the source of the voice.

'Young Master ~Red Flame~? Is that my name?' The young man thought in his heart.

He had an athletic build with broad shoulders and slim waist, while his complexion was incredibly clear and face handsome. In fact, he looked simply perfect for a teenage boy, almost as if he was AI generated.

The weather outside gave him the vibe of the first chapter of Reverend Insanity, but the name Red Flame told him nothing. Although the name Chi Yan was rather common, among the stories he read he couldn't recall a character that fit the current situation.

While John was pondering over the situation, the person outside the door said again, "Young Master Chi Yan, are you awake?"

The tone of the voice was respectful and patient, yet firm. Afterwards, a few more knocks were heard, gradually getting louder.

"Come in!" The boy, or rather, Chi Yan, finally called out, having made up his mind.

A brief moment later, the door to the room opened and a middle-aged man showed himself in the doorframe, wearing simple clothes and a flattering smile on his face, bowing humbly toward Chi Yan.

"Young master, your grandfather Lord Chi Lian is waiting for you," the middle-aged man said politely.

Chi Yan raised his eyebrows in surprise, before he nodded his head after a moment's lag. "Hn. Lead the way."

He thought in his heart, 'Lord Chi Lian is my grandfather, this really is strange.'

"Very well. Young master, please come with me." The middle-aged man started leading the way through the corridor.

Chi Yan stepped out of the room and followed behind the man, walking through the exquisitely decorated long corridors of the mansion. His sight wandered about and landed on various Chinese style yin-yang motifs, dragon and phoenix carvings, and a multitude of paintings.

The paintings included figures of various people with red hair described as "Chi family patriarchs", as well as sceneries of nature that often focused on a moon and bamboo grooves. Many of the illustrations, interestingly, were portraying insects painted in high detail and also included their descriptions and names.

"Young master, what's the matter?" The servant asked at one point as he noticed that Chi Yan had halted his footsteps behind him.

Chi Yan's eyes, at this moment, were resting on a stone figure of a grotesque man-like creature located at a small shrine indebted in a wall.

The creature in the stone figure had three heads - the front head had dragon horns, lion mane, snake eyes, and elephant tusks; the left head had a peach forehead, grass hair, and three flower-like eyes; the right head had a cloud fringe, lightning eyes, fire ears, and golden mouth; it also had a multitude of arms and looked incredibly strong and awe-inspiring.

'It's a statue of Spectral Soul Demon Venerable, there is no doubt. And the insects on the paintings are called 'Gu' and are described to possess various abilities,' Chi Yan's heart though.

If he had doubts that he was in the Gu world, then now nearly all of them had slowly faded. Chi Yan only worried that perhaps he was high and it was all fake. However, he never did drugs and had no interest in them. So perhaps someone drugged him? But then again, what kind of drug makes you see yourself as an attractive young master inside the Reverend Insanity world? Was Chi Yan's mind that messed up?

But if there is really such a drug, then he wanted more of it.

Regardless, what Chi Yan was experiencing right now felt too real for him to be on drugs.

"Young master?" the middle-aged man asked, feeling that Chi Yan's spaced out expression was rather odd.

"It's nothing," Chi Yan finally answered and coughed, before he turned toward the middle-aged man. "Let's go."

Chi Yan resumed walking behind the servant.

Step by step, he squeezed his fists and at that time felt the pressure inside his heart rising with each step. Given that he was now in the world of Gu worms and was about to visit his grandfather and the head of the manor - likely Gu Yue Chi Lian.

Unfortunately Chi Yan didn't have any memories of his body or this world at all, making the situation very complicated.

Chi Yan felt that he could only go along with the flow and do his best to adapt to the situation.

After a couple more steps from the statue of Spectral Soul, the middle-aged man knocked on a door and announced Chi Yan's arrival.

A moment later a wise voice from inside called out to allow Chi Yan in, and the middle-aged man outside opened the door, inviting Chi Yan to go inside.

Chi Yan walked into the room and his sight was greeted with a figure of a man over fifty years old sitting in a chair behind a desk. The man had a head full of slicked-back red hair, a red goatee and sharp jawline. Chi Yan was quite certain that it was indeed his grandfather Gu Yue Chi Lian that he was meeting.

The old man's chair was directed toward an open window that was displaying the view of the village full of lights and the drizzle outside; a cup of tea and a few documents laid on the exquisite carved desk next to him. He glanced at Chi Yan quietly with an amicable and doting smile.

Upon seeing all that, Chi Yan bowed down his body, saying with respect, "Chi Yan greets grandfather."

"Mmm. Come and sit down, grandson," Gue Yue Chi Lian looked at his grandson, his eyes and tone gentle. When the doors closed, he continued, "I called you over to discuss tomorrow's Awakening Ceremony to prevent any mishaps."

Chi Yan lightly nodded his head and sat down at a soft armchair in front of the old man.

Seeing Chi Yan look at him with slight nervousness, Gu Yue Chi Lian sighed deeply, "Sigh. Grandpa has thought about it carefully. Remember to take 40 steps and not more during the ceremony tomorrow. We shall fake your aptitude to be at the top of B-grade, being at 78% primeval sea just like Gu Yue Qing Shu's. You see, if we make you an A-grade, it would inevitably invite too much attention from the clan leader faction and you would be closely nurtured as the next clan head, being watched by the entire clan. However, since there is already Gu Yue Qing Shu, you would only be nurtured as the Chi family head. With a 78% result you'll be able to cultivate in peace with lower chances of your true aptitude being discovered."

"Hmmm?" Chi Yan hummed, blinking his eyes in confusion.

Why did Chi Lian even think of faking his aptitude to be A-grade? Isn't it a bit too much and he would eventually be found out?

Why the top of B-grade? Chi Yan clearly remembered that in the novel Chi Lian's grandson Chi Cheng faked his C-grade aptitude to be the same as Mo Bei, being around 66% primeval sea.

Is his aptitude higher because he's a different person?

Chi Lian continued heavily, "The Extreme Physiques are just too perfect, they defy the heavens. Even Ren Zu's ten children didn't have a good ending and didn't live for long. But it isn't like there is no hope, grandson. When your cultivation base is slightly higher, grandpa will make sure that you'll have a safe trip to the Central Continent. With your extraordinary talent, I believe that the Ancient Sects could accept and nurture you. The Gu Immortals would surely have a way."

Chi Yan blinked his eyes dumbfoundedly. What Extreme Physiques? What Ancient Sects?

"Among the ten Extreme Physiques it turned out to be the Blazing Glory Lightning Brilliance…" Gu Yue Chi Lian sighed while smiling bitterly at the beautiful young boy in front of him. "Who would have thought?"

Chi Yan's expression was dumbfounded.

Blazing Glory Lightning Brilliance? Him?!

******

(AN: Because the MC is completely different from Chi Cheng, his name is Gu Yue Chi Yan, , but I'm yet to edit all the chapters, so in many it's still Chi Cheng.)

(The name Yan is for Blazing/Blaze/Flame. It's the same 'Blazing' that's used in Blazing Glory Lightning Brilliance.)
