The Riverlands and Crownlands were never a kingdom. They were just a lose group of petty kings that kept getting conquered until aegon took them, then divided them.

Your reasoning isn't right, especially when u consider that the Tyrells are the Wardens of the south. the Title warden is separate from being lord paramount, with warden being a strictly military title. And when it says north, it means the northern part of the Seven kingdoms, not the Kingdom of the North. For example when Jon Arryn died Jamie was made warden of the east, even tho Robin was the lord of the Vale, with his mother as regent.
