Yeah I can see where you’re coming from, but as a lot of people say, most of the impact is well received by the pads. The recent changes to the game have been protecting players from getting clocked like that most of the time, though it still happens you’ll usually only see players get the wind knocked out of them on most CLEAN hits. Whereas the illegal hits are REALLY self evident by the receiver taking a mid game nap.

Well in todays game they get the most attention, protection, utilization, and are usually huge offensive weapons. Back in the day, running backs were the better positions to be in but they took A LOT of abuse during games. Not to mention on defense it’s crazy difficult to guard a receiver properly since they get so much attention it’s often impossible for defenses to do their job because of controversial penalties.
