Bab 1: The Beginning
Chapter-1
[ October, Year 2033(post-awakening),5 am]
[Nathaniel Greyson's POV]

"Brother, wake up"
I heard my sister's voice as she shook my arms to wake me up from sleep. I slowly got up groggily, stretched, rubbed my eyes, and took a look at my sister who was standing near the bed in her training attire.
"Good morning *Yawn* Linda"
"Don't 'good morning' me why are you still asleep, get ready fast before Father punishes both of us for your mistake, saying ' you will not commit mistakes if you truly care for each other. " she pouted and replied being annoyed by my antics, but what can I do if Alice with me kept speaking to till 2 am, It is my soul duty as a boyfriend to satisfy her boredom and entertain her.
"Blame Alice, she was the one who kept speaking til-"
"Shut up and get ready already! *bang*" she shouted and left while closing the door with a bang.
"Fucking puberty changing my cute adorable sister into a complain box", I said to myself and went toward the bathroom. After brushing my teeth and washing my face I saw myself in the mirror, marveling at the change of appearance of my eyes my E-gene bought me and thought all about the past 2 years and the change they bought to the world, mana, and E-genes. I focused and activated my esper ability. I awakened six eyes a week ago to increase my mental activity to think about the path I decided to follow in the future.
I and Alice decided to become, what we termed hunters, we would see around the world. Note and study the changes in the bodies of humans and monsters due to the advent of mana and esper gene. My mother still disagrees with my choice saying that it was too dangerous, Obviously one should be at least as strong as a B-ranked being to survive the restricted lands, lands which we plan to explore.
I dried my face and changed into my training wear.
When I reached the training ground, My sister was talking to my dad about something.
"Good Morning, Dad"
They stopped talking and my father addressed me, " Morning Nathan, now get to doing the stretches after completing the warm-ups we will focus on your eyes while your sister trains her new magic attacks".
After completing the 10km jog, 200 push-ups, 200 squats, 200 high jumps, and some weight lifting to raise our endurance my sister left to practice the new attacks alone while my father asked me to list out all the abilities of my shining blue eyes, named as six eyes by Alice cause she found it funny, that I know of
"I still don't know the full extent of their abilities as I still feel they could do a lot more, the ones I know are,
When I activate the eyes they allow me to see the flow of mana in the surrounding and within the bodies of beings possessing mana, For example, I am able to see the unconverted pure mana inside your body spread out evenly on every part of your body
It allows me to easily manipulate mana and convert it into space mana or ice mana with almost no effort.
It helps me to estimate an incoming projectile danger using its mass, speed, and shape among other factors.
Allows me to see the same no matter the amount of light available, Meaning I can't be blinded by a flash and can see without any light source.
Decreasing my reaction speed to 4ms slows down the perspective of things happening by increasing the neuron activity between the eyes and my brain, but my body still moves at the same speed." I finished and waited for my father to reply as he seemed to be thinking deeply about it.
"Your ability is definitely an Omega-level as it still hasn't reached its full potential, but I say this, always remember it Nathan, Believe in your instincts. The only reason we survived the tide of ants 2 years ago was only because my instinct to protect my family took over my fear of death and made me fight. I will not interfere with the path you chose in your life, but I also won't just let my son die because he was weak when he could have survived it if he trained a little longer"
Hearing my father say this made me remember the first time I truly felt the fear of death, during the attack of the ants, each was the size of a saltwater crocodile and stronger than a polar bear. My father, who at that time was protecting my mother, sister, and me with a weight lifting rod from our gym which is no more. If it wasn't for my father awakening his esper abilities and using mana to overload the rod and fight- no slaughter the ants, he kept teleporting like 3 times a second, and with each swing, he took he killed at least 2 ants, Seeing his powers the army invited him. He joined on the condition of us having a safe shelter. He slowly rose in ranks and is now currently a deputy commander of defenders in this Country.
"You should focus on improving your space and ice concept and become a 4-star magician as your E-gene does not provide you any destructive attack power"
I nodded and went to my room to think about what I knew of the ice element, I didn't focus on the space element as my understanding of space is far better than ice. Ice and fire element can be considered very similar, first of all ice element is not even ice it is the cooling and gathering of water. It reduces the movement of water molecules so, in theory, I could easily use water magic.
I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, extended my left hand, focused on only the formation of water, and ignored the cooling part, I opened my eyes and activated six eyes and saw mana leaving my hand and cob=nverting into a sphere of water. I got very excited and started playing with the water making a stickman out of it.
I disposed of the water and now focused on the cooling part, now mana started coming out of my hand and I felt a cool sensation in my left palm. I decided to use this property and made a translucent sword capable of cutting virtually anything unprotected by mana and tried to insert the coldness property into it. My sword started to be surrounded by a mist and became very cold. Fuck yeah!!! I finally became a 4-star mage same level as my parents, Linda will no longer be smug about being at the same level as me.
I looked at the time and saw that it was 8 am, I got up and went to the bathroom to clean up.
[Darwin Greyson POV]
As I was sitting at the dining table with my wife, Isabella. My daughter, Linda came in.
"How is your progress, Linda?" asked my wife, wanting to know about her progress in magic.
"I am still unable to make my light constructs have healing properties Mom, but I created a new spell called 'bright burn' which concentrates light into a ball of any size within 10m in area, it will blind any opponents without hacks like Nathan and has the maximum blast radius of 100m and a force of 340 newtons," she said while whining about Nathan's E-gene still salty because of not awakening one herself.
I chuckled at her behavior, " You can't say that Linda, your brother was just Lucky. Maybe you will awaken something stronger than him"
She just huffed and pouted. Just as I was about to check on my son, he opened the door and came in smiling brighter than a 200-watt light, with mischief in his eyes. He felt somewhat different from normal. He turned to Linda and became smug about something,
"I fucking became a 4-star mage with dual affinities, now say who is the talented one"
"Language, son" Before Linda could say something, my wife started advising him about some good habits, still believing it mattered in this era. While I just sat thinking about my son's future, e already expressed his wish of becoming an hunters with his girlfriend, Alice. He is strong, much stronger when compared to others his age but the restricted forest or the savage lands where there is no human activity is filled with dungeons and stronger monsters.
[Nathan POV]
"Do you still want to become an hunter? Nathan"
My father asked out of the blue, but I knew deep down that it was only a matter of time before we had this conversation. I thought of all my aims and steeled my resolve, I replied the obvious.
"YES"
My father deeply frowned and sighed, I thought he was disappointed with my answer but he suddenly smiled and look at my mom who looked ready to argue seemingly knowing the meaning behind that smile.
"I have no opposition to your dreams son, your overall strength and fighting capabilities should be around a B-class but I will agree to your wish on only one condition."
I was ecstatic, my father finally agreed now it won't be that hard to convince my mother with my father on my side, I immediately asked eagerly
"What condition Dad?"
"Both you and Alice will join the defenders and work there for 2 years learning how all monsters work and experience fighting them, you guys lack the knowledge and experience to survive in the savage lands even if you are strong, honey we'll have this conversation later I have to go to work after eating".
While I was eating I could only think of the offer my father gave me, I finished eating and decided to go to Alice's house and talk with her to decide what to do. After analyzing it using six eyes, I created wings made of ice, a trick I copied from Alice yesterday. I flapped the wings, slowly rose up in the air, and flew towards her house, feeling the air against my face.
