My eyes widened.
A prince was on his knees in front of me.
He was trying and failing to hide the smirk that adorned his stupidly good-looking face.
My stupid stupid heart thundered in response.
"Will you do the honour of marrying me, my lady "
" I've never been a fan of second leads", I told him.
" I've never been a fan of women who come from another universe but here we are "
" You don't know any other women who come from another universe ", I countered.
" Thank the saints for that ." He paused for a second and continued " Also the longer you take to give me an answer the likeliness of you getting an engagement ring decreases "
" You wouldn't deprive your fake wife of a ring, your highness !", I mock gasped.
"Are you sure my lady? " he questioned tilting his head to the side.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
Surely he wouldn't. The priceless ring was the best part about getting married to royalty. Well.
"Yes, fine yes I will marry you ", I told him trying to stifle my bubbling laughter.
He laughed in response.
"It's not like I had much of a choice really, " I told him
He planted a soft kiss on my hand.
"You're right, but for what it's worth. I vow to keep you safe and reasonably happy during our fake marriage ." he told me.
I laughed.
I know you will, I thought to myself
After all my efforts to run away. In the end, I had come back to where I started and had just agreed to marry the man destined to kill me.
I should probably stop laughing.
