Edith looked at her home in shambles.
“Where can I go?” she asked faintly.
Her friends looked at each other desperately.
“Sam and I room with two other friends…” said Lewis sadly.
Lydia shook her head, “I’m in the process of moving in with Wolfe.”
Theresa tapped her chin with a slender finger, “I can’t help either, I’m afraid. I live with my daughter and her family; there just isn’t any room.”
“She wouldn’t be safe with any of you anyway,” Caden stated. “Come stay with me, Edith.”
Asher looked at the garden through the window.
“We should move on, Caden,” he said quietly.
Judith stepped forward, “What about me? I can’t just go home…”
Edith took her friend’s hand and looked at Caden, “She can come with me, can’t she?”
“Yes,” Caden looked at Edith briefly, then nodded, “Bring your cat, as well.”
He looked around at the group and began to leave the cottage.
“I won’t expect any of you at work today.”
Lewis snorted, “Do you just expect us to go home?”
