Alex's question made Ethan pause for a moment, but after a brief hesitation, he admitted, "Yes, we were players in the previous game."
This revelation left everyone in shock. Alex had previously assumed that the "game" had been designed by the guides or that they were somehow brought into this world by the game's creators. However, it seemed things were much more complicated.
With a sigh, Ethan explained with a complicated expression, "In reality, there are many things I don't know. But what I can tell you is that our planet was also chosen as a 'game world' and invaded by the 'Belos' monsters. In that game, we 'Nars' lost horribly. By the end, only two royal cities were left, barely surviving, and our extinction was imminent.
"In many ways, Earth's game is our last chance. If we help you grow strong enough to resist the invasion of the 'Belos' monsters, we might have a shot at survival."
Ethan's story painted a bleak picture, one filled with loss and desperation. Learning that the guides and humans shared this connection was startling for Alex and his companions.
"But you shouldn't worry too much," Ethan added, sensing the group's mood darken. "Compared to us Nars, you humans are far stronger. Our planet was about ten times smaller than Earth, with a population of less than a hundred million. Even during the city-building phase, we struggled greatly.
"So, when I heard that the first main city had been built yesterday, I imagine the other Nars were just as shocked as I was. To us, that would have been unthinkable. It may even explain why such a legendary R-tier resource point appeared today—the 'Sky City' is practically on par with an ordinary SR-tier resource point!"
Chris was stunned, struggling to comprehend. "That can't be right! You said one R-tier resource point is equivalent to 100 N-tier points. So, an SR-tier must be 100 times stronger than an R-tier, right?"
The group was equally skeptical. Comparing the gap between N-tier and R-tier ability users was one thing, but suggesting that an R-tier point could rival an SR-tier one seemed impossible.
Ethan shook his head gently. "You're right that SR-tier resource points are much stronger and rarer, but not all resource points are the same. For example, food resource points, even if they are R-tier or SR-tier, are of lower value compared to others. While they may be guarded by stronger monsters, typically, these are just conventional creatures that are about ten times stronger than lower-level monsters. But there's another type of resource point that is much harder to conquer—inheritance-type resource points."
Chris's curiosity was piqued. "Inheritance resource points? What's that? Are they for passing down skills or techniques?"
Alex and the others turned their attention to Ethan, eager for answers. So far, East Sea City had conquered 29 resource points, but none of them had been described as inheritance points.
Ethan nodded, then shook his head. "Inheritance resource points come in different forms. The skill-type inheritance point you mentioned does exist. If you can pass the test of the inheritance master, you can acquire a powerful special skill. Besides that, there are also bloodline inheritance points, equipment inheritance points, and spirit beast inheritance points, among others."
Jessica and the group nodded, finally grasping the concept of inheritance points. Jessica then asked, "So, does that mean the 'Sky City' is also an inheritance resource point?"
Ethan nodded slightly, recalling his experiences. "Yes, and it's an exceptionally powerful and terrifying one. Its inheritance master is a creature known as the 'Sky Serpent,' or 'Clearing Serpent,' one of the most powerful beasts with an SR-tier bloodline. It wields an almost invincible skill called 'Sky Explosion,' a technique so powerful that it's rumored to be able to instantly kill even SSR-tier divine beasts."
Hearing Ethan's description, Liam and the others were left utterly speechless, as if they were listening to a fantastical myth. The power and reputation of this 'Sky Serpent' were beyond comprehension.
Sensing their disbelief, Ethan added, "When Sky City first appeared, we Nars had already built our first royal city and even conquered an SR-tier resource point. But when we attempted to take on Sky City, half of the assault force was wiped out by the guardian boss in one strike! To this day, neither we nor the Belos monsters have managed to conquer that resource point."
Ethan's repeated warnings left everyone in awe. No one expected that just 10 days into the game, such a terrifying challenge would emerge.
After ensuring that everyone promised not to recklessly venture into these dangerous areas, Ethan left, visibly relieved. It was clear that he valued Alex and the others greatly and didn't want to see them fall to such a dangerous place.
Once Ethan had gone, Chris's eyes gleamed mischievously as he smirked and whispered, "Should we go check it out anyway?"
Clearly, Ethan's warnings had only fueled the group's curiosity about the legendary Sky City. After all, it was an inheritance resource point, and the chance to inherit the power of an SR-tier bloodline was a strong temptation for them all.
Jessica was intrigued as well but quickly shook her head, her rationality prevailing. "Didn't the guide just say how dangerous it is? Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Chris pouted, then looked expectantly at Alex. With confidence, he said, "We've got Alex with us, don't we? No matter how strong that SR-tier bloodline is, it'll kneel before the luckiest guy in the game!"
Mason and the other guys nodded in agreement. For them, the supposed power of the 'Sky Serpent' couldn't possibly compare to Alex, who had already achieved so much in just ten days.
Amused, Alex shook his head and put an end to the discussion. "We'll save that for later if necessary. For now, let's stick to the plan and conquer 10 more resource points today."
"Deal!"
"Yeah, we got this!"
The group roared in excitement, their confidence soaring compared to the day before.
With a plan to start their mission in an hour, everyone went off to prepare, eager to further strengthen themselves.
Alex didn't waste any time either. He quickly purchased an "N-tier Fruit Pack" and an "N-tier Soulstone Pack," both of which were on sale today. The N-tier Fruit Pack originally cost 5 million points but was discounted to 3 million, while the N-tier Soulstone Pack, usually priced at 10 million, was marked down to 6 million points.
