Bab 5: She is really alive
As the time went by, Aalia's health condition gradually improved, allowing her to regain some of her energy and strength. With this positive change, she was determined to get back on her feet and find a job that would suit her circumstances with the help of David.
Fortunately, an opportunity arose when a nearby primary school had an opening. The school may not have been large, but it was a welcoming and supportive environment. It had a modest student body of no more than 200 students. This size allowed for a more intimate and personal connection between the teachers and students. Aalia recognized that this environment would be beneficial for her both physically and emotionally.
She was just a teenager, barely 16 years old, which meant she only landed this job because of David's recommendation. However, she was immensely grateful for the opportunity. She found herself in a rather unconventional position - a regular clerk. Sometimes she acted as an acting teacher while other teachers on leave.
Despite her young age and being pregnant, there were some teachers who welcomed her with open arms, appreciating her dedication and hard work. They recognized her potential and were willing to support her throughout her journey.
However, not everyone shared the same mindset. Some of them had treated her with contempt and disdain. The harshness of their words and actions made her feel outcast and unworthy, causing her heart to ache with the weight of their scorns. Yet, she refused to let it deter her. With unwavering determination and resilience, she pressed on.
"Have you seen there is an expensive car in the entrance?", a teacher asked curiously.
"I heard that our school land is bought by a rich business man", another teacher said.
"I saw a man was alighted from the car, he was very handsome", a teacher added.
"How old is he?, the teachers curiously asked.
"Probably in early twenties", the teacher said.
"Wow, really?", the teachers were enthusiastic after they heard his age.
There are only eleven teachers in the school including Aalia. She was the youngest. Others were also in early twenties. In this group the old one is twenty-four years old.
On the other side, Aalia was walking through the corridor, her footsteps echoing against the tiled floor. The dimly lit space seemed deserted, except for a young man standing at the end of the corridor facing the other side. Wisps of smoke curled upwards from the cigarette dangling between his fingers, creating a hazy cloud around him making difficult to see his appearance.
"Excuse me, school is prohibited smoking", Aalia closed in on him and said politely.
The man turned his head and looked at her with disdain in his eyes. As he looked at her, the disdain in his eyes replaced by a visible shock. He stood still.
"Excuse me?", Aalia waved her hand before him.
"What?", the man came to and asked.
"Smoking is prohibited into the school", Aalia said again.
"Oh", the man extinguished the cigarettes' in his hands and lost in thoughts.
"What's your name?", as Aalia walked some distance he asked.
"I'm Aalia", she said and walked away.
The man was watching her back as she disappeared in the corner. He was shocked and his eyebrows knitted together as he lost in thoughts. He took his mobile phone and made a call.
"If you have nothing important, just get lost", the call went through and an irritated voice was heard from the other side.
"Hey Lian, can't you treat me nicely? Of course it is important", the man answered.
"Cut the crap", the Lian's voice again sounded.
"Alright alright. Do you know who I met with?", he asked.
"Who?", the Lian asked.
"Oh my! Aalia Thomas. She is really alive", the young man said with a laugh.
"Are you sure it's her?", Lian asked skeptically.
"What are you asking? I know it's her and I also asked her name. But I don't know why she didn't seem to recognize me, and one more thing", he said as he thought back.
"She is pregnant", after a moment of silence the young man said with certainty.
"Yash, stay there for a while and confirm her every information. I will be there in two days", Lian said.
"Got it", Yash answered and the line ended with a beep sound.
