100% I am Invincible; Literally [One Punch Man in Marvel] / Chapter 30: History of Isabela Fisher

Bab 30: History of Isabela Fisher

Ever since Isabela was a kid, she dreamt of opening a diner. She loved to cook food for other people, and listening to their compliments was just an icing on the cake.

When Isabela got married, she thought it to be the end of her dreams, but thankfully, her thoughts didn't come true.

Her husband was very understanding, he let her do everything she wanted. Despite coming from a humble family background, he worked hard to make his wife's dream come true.

On their 10th anniversary, her husband gave her a surprise by opening a Diner and naming it after her. To say that she was delighted would be a massive understatement.

Isabela had no words to describe how happy she was to get married to that man.

Isabela opted for different strategies to get her business grow. All the money she earned through the Diner, she used it to buy presents for her husband. He refused it at first, before realising that it was not negotiable.

It was a life that Isabela wouldn't have traded for anything. She was the happiest woman alive, and her husband made sure it remained that way.

—That was until, her husband died.

One day, coming home late from work, Isabela's husband got run over by a truck. He was immediately sent to the hospital, but unfortunately, he couldn't survive.

Isabela was devastated. It was impossible to come to terms with it, the truth. The truth that her beloved was no longer with her.

Running the diner was no longer the same. Cooking food for people and receiving compliments no longer gave her the same gratification. Isabela became an empty shell, unable to feel and express anything.

Working at the diner was no longer something she wanted to do.

"That's a lie and you know it."

That was the first time in a while, that someone in Isabela's life, didn't take pity on her. She was told directly to her face, that whatever was going through her head was wrong.

The one who told her such words was not a friend, rather, she was an employee of hers. A new employee to be exact.

It was the first time Isabela met that woman, despite that, the woman still spoke her mind as if they were long time friends.

Isabela wanted to close the Diner permanently, for that reason, she told all her employees the news. Everyone was very understanding and gave her their condolences.

Everyone but that woman. She just looked at Isabela as if she had gone senile.

Isabela was very surprised by her words. Ever since her husband had died, people treated Isabela as if she would fade away if they talked too loud or too much. She grew accustomed to that, so seeing someone interrupt her so rudely took her off guard.

That woman, despite her words, didn't specify what she meant and simply left the diner, leaving a very confused Isabela behind. Upon questioning the other employees, she got to know the name of that woman.

Samantha Andrews, that was her name.

When Isabela further questioned her employees about that woman, she came to know something that left her mouth agape. That woman was going through something which was very similar to her own situation. Her husband had died, and she was left alone in this cruel world.

Well, that wasn't completely true. Samantha had a son, so saying that she was left alone would be a lie.

Isabela felt sorry for her. Despite what she was going through, Isabela knew that her situation was far better than her. At least, financially.

Isabela's husband left her with a house. Not to mention, a business that she could run. On the other hand, Samantha was left with nothing but a child.

Despite her situation, to Isabela, Samantha looked so strong. So strong and powerful, that Isabela couldn't help but admire her.

A fire, that was what she saw in that woman's eyes. Isabela had lost that fire after her beloved's death, but that woman's fire was still burning strongly.

That day, Isabela decided to not close her diner. She decided to keep the gift her husband gave her, and find solace in the fact that it would be with her till the day she dies.

Isabela didn't know what happened to that woman. She just hoped, that somewhere in the world, the fire burning in her eyes was still living strongly.

"Hey, are you listening?"

"..Huh? Oh, sorry Jason. I got lost in my thoughts. I guess I'm growing old."

Isabela laughed lightly, but her employee just looked at her plainly. He patiently waited for her to get her bearings back, which she did after a couple of seconds.

"What were you saying again?"

Isabela asked, a smile on her face. Jason put the paper he was holding in his hand on the table, his expression plain and bored.

"This is the order for table 6. Try to make it fast please. The customer looked in a hurry."

"Of course. Thanks Jason."

Jason nodded, before going outside the kitchen to take more orders from the customers.

Isabela smiled. He sure was a good kid.
