10 years had passed and everything in my life changed a lot. My Grandma died when I was fourteen due to unknown cause. But honestly, I couldn't remember anything about Grandma.
And now, my parent's separation.
I heard them fighting over a mistress thingy. I don't know why Dad did it to Mom. She's too caring, she loves Dad so much but he hurt her, so much. "Jam, can we talk." Mom knocked on the door. I'm too old for this drama but I hate seeing my Mom crying every single night. "Yeah, come in!" I replied, still holding my guitar.
Mom opened the door and look at me sadly. Her eyes was swollen and her face became pale. She sit on the edge of my bed and caress my hair, smiling. "We're getting divorce," I saw how her light mood switch into a not– so– good–mood.
I looked away from her gaze and acted like I'm strumming my guitar. "I know." I replied. I stood up and open my laptop. "Pack your things up, you will leave with your Dad tomorrow." Mom turned it off and sit on my PC table, facing me. I clasped my hands and put it on the back of my head.
"No problem Mom. How about you?"
"I'll stay here," She looked away and tears springing into her eyes. I know her well. I know when she's sad or happy, and now, she's sad and exhausted. "I should start looking for a job, for living, for you."
"I will be fine, and don't worry I can manage myself." I couldn't help it, I tried not to look like a crying baby especially in front of my mother but I was wrong. Quick as I can, I weep my tears away. "Oh! Jamie, you grown up well and I'm proud of that." Mother hugged me so tight, and I rub her back trying to lessen the pain and to console her.
"Here. Take this with you." It was a bundle of cash and a piece of paper. I gaped and said, "No! I don't need this Mom!" I tried to give it back to her but she shrugged her shoulders and nodded. "I saved it for you, I know that this thing will happen. I've been following your Dad since last year but he always denied it. Not until last month."
I heard how Mom caught my Dad with his new girlfriend in a motel. How she pulled the hair of that bitch and embarrassed her in front of so many people. "Okay." I replied. I put my hands inside of my pocket and said, "Mom, can I visit Sab for the last time?" She smiled sweetly and cup my face. "Of course! If you want, you can invite her here to have lunch with me." She said, enthusiastically.
This is the third time that I'm going to visit Sab at her pad. She's been living alone since last Month after her parents divorce. Her Mom and Dad decided to buy a decent Condo unit for her. I don't know, but divorce is the most popular family problem in the world, except those countries that didn't pass it as a law. "Really?" I was lighten up when finally, Mom let Sabrina visit in our house. Mom shook her head as a yes, and I hold her hand gently. "Thank you, Mom!" I said, looking at her lonely eyes.
Mom wave her hand as she went out from my room. I jumped off into my bed and think what the best clothes to wear. I hurriedly went to my closet and I picked the white polo that Sabrina gave to me in our first anniversary. I took a very quick bath, change my clothes and spray a little bit of perfume.
I was about to lock my room when I remember my phone. It wasn't in my pocket, I search it everywhere and I found it in my drawer. I walk downstairs and went to the kitchen, for sure Mom is baking again.
"Mom, I'll get going!"
She looked up at me from head to toe. "You look like your Dad, Jamie." She uttered. "Come near me." She added. I was quiet stepping closer to her. She fix my polo and my hair. "There you are. You looks better with that."
"Don't forget to drive slowly but surely, young man!" Mom shouted from the kitchen. She will never be tired of reminding me about that thing. Of course, I'll drive safely especially when I'm with Sabrina.
I could remember how Dad and Mom taught me how to drive a car. I was only twelve when Dad started to teach me. On the first try, I press the breaker accidentally but luckily we got only a minor injury and a small bruises in our knees. It was fun, I missed it. I missed our little get away with Mom and Dad but now it will never happen, again.
"I'm driving off now!" I replied and started the engine. I look back at the side mirror and I saw Mom waving his hand, smiling widely.
The wind was cold but the sun was shining like it is, as always. I switched on the stereo and listen of my favourite songs while driving.
It didn't took me so long since Sabrina's pad is just two kilometers away from my house. From here, I saw Sabrina waiting for me outside. She looks so beautiful and charming with her above the knee pink dotted dress. "Hey! I'm sorry for keeping you waiting here." I kiss her cheeks and her cheeks became red. She's blushing. It makes her blush everytime I kiss her.
"Don't be. Let's go!" She said, trying to change the topic, again. She walked so fast more than I do, she even opened the door for herself and seated in the front seat. "Let me." I leaned closer to her and put the seat belt on. I could smell her fresh breath and her vanilla and chocolate body wash. Her hair smells like a flower and it's so fragrant. "Come on Jamie! Drive off!" Sabrina starled me when she yelled at me. Poor Jamie.
I followed her order and I kept an eye on the road. There's no one trying to speak up, to open a topic. But I felt her index finger, poking my stomach. I narrowed my eyes since I can't get off my eyes on the road. "What?" I told her. "Give me your phone!" Sabrina said.
I know her! She would read all the messages in the Discord and will ask me about it. How annoying sometimes! "Don't ask me about the girls keep on messaging me. I don't know them, Sab." I said it first as I could. I don't want to argue with her, I want to cherish this day with her and that's what keeping me scared. I'm scared that I will be living away from her.
"Shut up! I want to play, I forgot to charge my phone. Give me yours now!" I don't know, but I intended to follow what just she says and what she wanted to know. I don't have a choice but to let her borrow my phone. "Get it from the dashboard." She grinned and tapped my head. "Yas!"
I can't see what's going on until I heard that sound. A notification ringtone. I sighed deeply and waited Sab's daily sermon. "Ohh! Someone added you into a group chat, just five minutes ago." I don't have an idea about it. I'm not active two hours now. "Really? Name of the group chat?" I waited for her answer but I get a giggle. She giggled and even slap my arm. "Meet and Greet the Most Handsome: Edition 2.0."
What? Why the hell they added me into that irritating group chat. Most of them would asks my number, my life or even to be my girlfriend. "Can I leave?" She shrugged her shoulders and she's typing now.
"Hey! What are you doing?" I wanted to snatch my phone from her but I can't. "I am just replying with one of your admirers, Mr. Jamie Kurtney." She said, still typing. "She said, Jamie you should've break up with Sabrina. She's hideous, a slut. You deserves someone else that is better." She added. I don't know what to answer but I know that she's hurt reading it.
"Mr. Kurtney, please date with me."
"Jam, I am willing to do whatever it takes to make it work for you and me."
"Please, notice me Jamie my forever."
"Sabrina Parker, my middle finger salute you."
"Sab and Jam doesn't look good together. No hate just my opinion."
"Can you guys shut up? Respect their relationship. For pete's sake, you're not getting younger. Grow up people on this Earth!"
Sabrina read some of the messages from our batchmates. They're all cruel and annoying, they even say things without thinking.
I stop the car in the middle of the road and I get my phone from her. I leave from that nonsense group chat and embrace Sabrina. She must be hurt with those messages.
I caress her back and said, "I love you more than my life. Don't listen to them, Sab." She shook her head and I kiss her forehead and drive off, way back home.
