"But, Oli, you don't understand what it means for my mother to meet with me before I enter your soul jade. It would only put you at greater risk, and it may keep us from attempting my transfer to the soul jade altogether." 

"Well, correct me if I'm wrong," Oli spoke up, glancing at both the father and daughter, "but wouldn't it be best for you to enter the soul jade anyway? Since that's the only way to stabilize your soul?

"Other than the risk of failure, I don't get why your mom would be against it." 

Trada tilted her head toward her father. "Will you explain the matter? Or shall I?" 

"Allow me…" Uutrai sighed. A half-frown was hung from his face, unable to fully mask his discomfort.
