[Carla's Pov]
Chris, Shawn and I sat in my office going through the documents about the duplicated gadgets.
Shawn had decided to join us so as to 'learn how I am so brilliant' according to him. He is now part of our team to catch the mastermind and is trying his best not to draw us back.
The documents about the gadgets confirmed my suspicions, it was created using a duplicating machine but didn't have the mark of the FBI's or any known duplicating machine which means the mastermind created his own machine.
I dropped the documents I was holding down and the two of them looked at me.
"What?" I asked, raising a brow at them.
"Hmm... Carla, will you please teach me your ways? All your deductions were on point, you are so amazing, it is almost like you knew everything that happened" Shawn said with an admiring gaze as Chris nodded, agreeing with Shawn.
"Haha... If you wanted me to teach you, you could have said so" I said laughing as they came closer to me, listening intently.
"Ok, where should I start? Hmm... You see, to be a detective, you have to observe and pay attention to minuscule details. Do not let anything escape your attention. Also, you must put yourself in the person's shoe and think like them, it helps to deduct what happened at that particular time. Should I give you an illustration?" I asked looking at their faces.
They both nodded, not letting their eyes leave my face and I chuckled in amusement.
"Ok, Mr A is an extremely rich man that owns a big company, he died one day from falling down his office which is on the top floor of his tall building to the ground with his rolling chair beside him. The walls of his office was made out of glass so the police suspect that he was sitting on the rolling chair which crashed into the glass wall so fast that it broke the glass which led to his fall" I paused looking at the two that were paying rapt attention.
"There were two people suspected to be the culprit if he didn't die by accident, which are his son-in-law, Mr B, and his daughter, Mrs C." I said before taking a cup of tea and sipping it.
They looked at me with slightly annoyed faces because I stopped talking. I laughed at their expression before dropping the cup.
"Mr B was with Mr A in the office at the time that Mr A died. Mr B claimed that they were drinking, which is true, and Mr A sat on the rolling chair drunk before the chair moved and hit the glass. He claimed to have tried to save him but fell down on top of Mr A, he managed to call his wife, Mrs C, to bring the ambulance before he fainted" I said before taking another sip of the tea.
"Mrs C claimed that Mr B called her and she rushed there with the ambulance to see Mr B lying with a bleeding head, on top of her dead father, Mr A. The father was already dead by the time the ambulance got there so only Mr B could be treated. After treating his head, Mr B became conscious and despaired when he heard that Mr A was dead" I continued as I sipped my tea again.
"The clues the police found was some alcohol that fell down with Mr A, the rolling chair that also fell down with Mr A, Mr A's slightly torn tie, and a bloody stone near Mr A's body" I took another sip of my tea as they waited impatiently for me to continue.
"Another main clue was that Mr A's will was changed that day. Before, his will was to give 90% of his fortune to his daughter and 10% to his daughter's husband, but he changed it to 90% for his daughter's husband and 10% for his daughter" I said sipping my tea again with a little smile.
"Now, was is an accident or who murdered Mr A?" I asked as they finally relaxed their stance and went into deep thought.
"I think it was an accident" Shawn said after he contemplated for a while.
"Why do you think so?" I asked calmly, taking another sip of my tea.
"Because there isn't really any big evidence that any of them killed him. I think he was drunk and just fell to his death" Shawn explained as he shrugged his shoulder.
I nodded, signifying that I heard him and took another sip of my tea before looking at Chris for his answer.
"... It might be Mrs C" He finally said without any emotion in his voice.
"And why do you think so?" I asked amusedly, taking another sip of my tea.
"She might have been angry that her father changed the will which gave her less fortune and so she planned that" He said with a little smirk.
"Well, sorry to say this but you are both wrong." I said with a little smirk as they both had downcast expression.
"It was Mr B. If you notice, he said that he called Mrs C which helped to confirm Mrs C' s testimony, after all, why would Mr B say he called Mrs C if she was the one that killed Mr A. Also, Mr A's torn tie was one evidence against Mr B, since Mr A was rich, he would never buy anything of bad quality which means someone tore the tie on purpose. Thirdly, the will was changed on that very day but Mrs C wasn't mentioned to have done anything wrong to warrante that. Also, how did the chair gain enough force to break the glass? Lastly, the bloodly stone shouldn't have been beside them if they fell on it. That means the stone got blood on it by someone smashing it against themselves" I explained, taking another sip of my tea.
"Now, this is my thought on what happened; Mr B went to Mr A's office to get him to change his will after they took a sip of the acholol but Mr A refused. Mr B made sure Mr A was sitting on the rolling chair and pushed the chair with enough force for it to crash through the glass but grabbed Mr A before he fell down. He held Mr A's tie to hold him up and started cutting the tie to threaten him to sign the will he had altered before. Mr A, being scared for his life, agreed and signed the will which made Mr B pull him back up before throwing him again through the window which made Mr A fall to his death. To be safe, Mr B went to where Mr A fell and took a stone to hit himself in the head so as to make it seem like he was injured trying to save Mr A. He then called Mrs C before lying on the already dead Mr A" I said, taking the final sip of the tea before dropping it.
"I can't believe you got all that from a few clues!" Shawn exclaimed surprised as I stood up, smirking.
"It's what I do" I said winking before leaving to get some things.
The two in the room looked at my departing back with dumbstruck faces as I chuckled in my mind.
