Bab 9: Chapter 8
[Carla's Pov]
We were called to the FBI headquarter to recieve important information.
"Could it be something about the duplicated gadgets?" Shawn asked as we entered the headquarters.
"What other reason could he have called us for? Except if it is something about the mastermind and I doubt that" Cole said, rolling his eyes.
I kept quiet as the two kept talking till we reached Director Adams office.
"Oh! You are all here? Good" He said smiling as he stood up, not wasting a single moment.
"I am guessing this must be really important then" I said with a small smile as he nodded his head.
"Follow me, I will explain on the way" He said, walking out the door as we kept pace with him.
"So what do you have to tell us?" Cole asked, getting straight to the point.
"The duplicated gadgets your team found led us to a breakthrough." Adams said excitedly as I rose a brow.
"You found the IMEI address of the duplicating machine" I said, not as a question but as a statement since I was sure about it.
"You are right as always, Detective Carla. We got the hackers to track the IMEI address of the duplicating machine the mastermind created using the duplicated gadgets" He said as Shawn and Cole nodded their heads, probably in deep thoughts.
"Which is why I am glad all duplicating machines have their mark on the gadgets they duplicated, that way, you can always find the main source through the gadgets and figure out which duplicating machine was used. The only disadvantage is if an enemy gets their hand on a duplicated machine and knows the procedure to finding the duplicating machine" I explained as they all nodded their heads in agreement.
"The good thing is that only few people can get their hands on the procedure and even then, it is still hard for them to track the duplicating machine" Shawn said with a serious face.
"Yes, another good thing which is bad in our case is that, you can only get the address of where the duplicating machine was when it was used to create the gadget, you can't get the current location." I explained as they showed a forlorn expression.
"I hope the duplicating machine is still at the same location they used it, that way, we can ruin part of their plan" Adams said gritting his teeth.
"We can only hope" Cole said, sighing a bit.
"We are here." Adams said, standing in front of a door.
"So the hackers are in here and we will get the possible location of the duplicating machine here?" Shawn asked with a small smile.
"Wow! How did you figure that out, Sherlock?! Of course this is the place, that much was obvious" Cole said sacarstically as he rolled his eyes.
Shawn rubbed his neck sheepishly with a nervous chuckle.
"Well, it seems I am not fit for detective work then" He said with a sad gaze.
"Well, it isn't that easy to be a detective but if you work hard enough, you should be able to achieve your goal, even though you are already a secret agent which is good enough" I said comforting him as he showed a grateful look.
"Now that we are through with that, let's enter" Adams said, opening the door as we all went in.
Hackers sat at different desks with computers in front of them as they typed away. Director Adams moved towards one of them as we followed.
"Agent Hack" He said as the hacker rose his head and nodded with a smile.
"Director Adams, are you here for it?" The hacker asked with a knowing glint in his eyes.
"Yes" He said as the hacker nodded and brought a book out, scribbling something on it before tearing it out and handing it to Adams.
"Carla, this is our best hacker in the agency, Agent Hack. He got the location for us" Director Adams said as he took the paper from the hacker and passed it to us.
"Oh! I didn't expect it to be the Varley mansion even though I had my suspicions" I mumured as I looked at the paper.
It was in the Varley mansion that the duplicating machine was used.
"Will you three go alone or do you want backup?" Director Adams asked, looking specifically at me.
"We will go alone, it is best if we are small in numbers so as to not attract attention, who knows if they have vacated that place by now and we just raised their guards? It is better with just the three of us but if the plan changes, we will contact you" I said, knowing that the decision was left to me.
"Ok, good. Let's go back to my office, I have something to give you" Director Adams said as he walked away with us following him.
We got to his office and he pulled out a device from his desk.
"This is something that will help on this mission. You need to keep it on you at all times" He said as my eyes lit up at the sight of the device.
"I know this gadget, it helps to gather all information that the user sees and hears, it also records whatever location they go to, and as long as anyone comes in contact with the user, the person's information can be collected. This will be really good, if we manage to come in contact with the mastermind, this will reveal his identity!" I said happily as Shawn and Cole's eyes widened.
It seems Shawn and Cole didnt know about the gadget before.
"Good eye, Carla. That is indeed what this gadget is for, I hope you all succeed." He said as he handed three of the gadget to each of us.
We smiled as we took the gadgets.
"You can go to that mansion tomorrow after planning everything out. Good luck" He said as we left.
