Bab 64: Battle of New York ( Part 1 )

The cool breeze from the ocean swept over the city skyline as Maxim leaned back on a weathered wooden bench perched atop a secluded rooftop. After the attack on the Helicarrier, Maxim had parted with the Avengers temporarily, deciding to relax before the final part of his plans.

From this point on, he didn't need to change much. Loki's invasion will begin, he'll get involved, and after Natasha closes the portal, all he'd need to do was complete the easy swap.

With such an easy road to victory, there was no need to stress himself. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small flask, taking a measured sip of water.

He enjoyed this relaxing experience for a bit until suddenly, A.N.G.E.L's voice crackled to life in his ear with an urgent tone,

"Maxim, the invasion has begun. The portal is open."

Maxim sat up straight, the weight of her words snapping him to full alertness. "Of course it has," he muttered, already standing and moving to the edge of the rooftop.

He looked out toward the heart of the city, where a blinding beam of blue energy shot into the sky.

The swirling portal above it was growing, releasing the first wave of Chitauri soldiers on their sleek, gliding craft. The city's streets erupted into chaos as people screamed and scattered, seeking cover from the sudden onslaught.

Maxim's eyes narrowed. Shadows began to twist and curl around his feet, climbing up his body until he was cloaked in his Omen persona. His voice, now deeper and edged with otherworldly resonance, murmured, "Time to dance."

In a burst of shadow, Maxim vanished from the rooftop, reappearing in the heart of the chaos.

A Chitauri soldier was swooping in, his weapon trained as it readied itself to slaughter a women running with her child when suddenly, before it could react.

~BANG~BANG~BANG~

Three ( 3 ) ferocious demonic bullets pierced its body, two through its head, and one through its heart, and the Chitauri soldier fell to the ground dead instantly.

~SHRIEK~SHRIEK~

The loud shrieks of its allies immediately grated against Maxim's ears, and a barrage of bullets poured in. He made his body incorporeal, making him immune to them whilst he created a barrier around the Humans, protecting them.

Once he confirmed they were safe and sound, he turned back to the Chitauri, a smirk on his lips as he vanished from his spot, and in the next moment, over a dozen Chitauri soldiers fell around him.

Maxim tore through their formation, using Yamato, Ebony & Ivory to decimate the Chitauri relatively effortlessly. The streets were a battleground, but Maxim easily drew the most attention on this side of the city, dismantling his opponents.

~SLASH~

With a flick of his wrist, Maxim unleashed a single, precise slash, a wave of shimmering energy extended outward, cutting a trio of Chitauri gliders clean in half.

The crafts exploded in a blaze of fire and metal, their pilots screaming as they plummeted to the ground. Maxim immediately used his Demonic Flames to ignite them, turning their bodies to ash as he continued on.

He immediately vanished into a swirl of shadows, moving to protect more civilians. A group of Chitauri soldiers were currently advancing down a narrow street, their weapons raised as they herded fleeing civilians toward a dead end.

Maxim reappeared behind them, his presence announced only by the subtle distortion of the air as shadows coalesced around him.

The first soldier turned, its guttural snarl silenced as Maxim plunged Yamato through its chest, the blade slicing through armor and flesh with ease. He twisted the blade, creating a burst of dark energy that exploded out of the Chitauri's body, sending pieces of it flying all around in death.

Before the others could register what happened, Maxim dashed forward, his movements a blur of shadowy speed.

Two more fell to his blade in quick succession, their bodies dissolving into ash as Maxim imbued his strikes with demonic energy.

He caught a glimpse of a father clutching his child, huddled behind an overturned car. With a flick of his hand, Maxim summoned a barrier of astral energy around them, shielding them from stray blasts.

"Move! Now!" Maxim barked, his voice a deep, commanding growl. The father nodded and ran, clutching his child as the barrier dissipated behind her. Maxim turned back to the remaining soldiers, his smirk hidden beneath his dark mask.

One of the Chitauri charged at him with a massive, electrified spear. Maxim sidestepped effortlessly, letting the weapon pass through his incorporeal form before countering with a devastating upward slash that cut it in half, sending pieces of its body falling to the ground.

Maxim vanished and immediately reappeared next to another one, sending a powerful kick that sent the creature flying into a nearby wall, and before it could stand back up, a bullet from Ebony pierced its head, leaving it dead.

"This is too easy." Maxim chuckled.

~ROAARRRRR!~

Just as he thought that, high above in the sky, a Chitauri leviathan soared through the skyline, its massive form casting a shadow over the city. Maxim's eyes narrowed as he extended his hand, summoning a swirling orb of demonic energy.

With a grunt of effort, he hurled it toward the leviathan. The orb expanded as it traveled, morphing into a miniature black hole that swallowed debris, Chitauri soldiers, and even a portion of a building before slamming into the leviathan's side.

The creature shrieked as the black hole tore into its armor, leaving a gaping wound as it kept going, sucking anything and everything of the leviathan's body into it.

The injured Leviathan began to descend, its trajectory aimed dangerously close to a group of trapped civilians, currently hiding for their lives.

Maxim acted quickly, teleporting to the falling leviathan's path. With both hands, he summoned Sparda, the demon-forged sword and swung it downward in a devastating arc, splitting the leviathan in two before it could crash into the ground.

The Halves immediately fell into a portal that sent it tumbling to another dimension, leaving the civilians staring at Maxim in awe, before fleeing to safety as they saw more aliens approaching.

Soon, a squadron of Chitauri gliders descended, their weapons locked onto him. He raised his arms, summoning a swirling barrier of fire and ice that enveloped him.

The gliders' attacks were nullified as their projectiles melted or froze upon contact with the barrier. Maxim countered with a barrage of bullets from Ebony & Ivory, each one piercing the heads of the Chitauri soldiers and leaving them on a trip to the netherworld.

"More toys to break," he muttered, vanishing in a puff of smoke as he spotted another group of enemies.

He reappeared atop one of them, plunging Yamato into its head. The machine shuddered as sparks flew, its limbs flailing wildly before collapsing.

'Maxim jumped clear, landing gracefully amidst the soldiers. With a snap of his fingers, he created a gravitational well that pulled the Chitauri toward him. They struggled against the force, only to be met with a flurry of slashes from Yamato that cut them to pieces.

A particularly bold Chitauri lunged at him, only to find itself frozen mid-air. Maxim tilted his head, the eerie visage of Omen staring directly at the Chitauri.

With a wave of his hand, he sent the Chitauri flying backward into its comrades, the collision creating a chain reaction that left the group sprawled on the ground. Soon, a nebula formed beneath them, pulling the soldiers to the center before exploding, leaving all of them torn to pieces.

"Pathetic," Maxim said, his voice dripping with disdain.

As the last of the immediate threats fell, Maxim paused to survey the surroundings. The city was still in chaos, but his section of the battlefield was momentarily clear. He looked up at the swirling portal in the sky.

~SHRIEK~SHRIEK~

Just that moment, his extrasensory perception flared. The distinct, roaring sound of the alien leviathan approaching drew his attention, and Maxim knew it was time to group up.

~Other side of the City~

At the same time, Steve, Natasha, and Thor regrouped with Clint. As Steve was giving orders, the echo of a motorcycle engine occurred in their ears as they turned around, spotting Bruce pulling up and getting off, looking at the team.

"So...this all seems horrible." Bruce said as he spotted the devastation around him.

"I've seen worse." Natasha responded, bringing Bruce's attention to her.

Steve meanwhile, called in Bruce's arrival to Tony and soon enough, a giant Chitauri leviathan bent the corner, chipping off the side of a building as it followed Tony ferociously, crashing onto the road as it followed him.

"Dr. Banner. Now may be a really good time for you to get angry." Steve said as he noticed Bruce turning and walking to the leviathan.

Bruce glanced at the massive alien leviathan hurtling toward them, its maw wide and glowing ominously. A small smirk played on his lips as he replied, "That's my secret, Cap. I'm always angry."

In an instant, Bruce transformed into the Hulk, his roar echoing across the city as he swung his gigantic green fist as the monster, colliding with its armored hide and sending it careening off-course.

The massive creature's body began moving up into the air before it reached a peak, turning back downwards with a momentum that threatened to flatten all of the other Avengers.

Before it could, a shimmering purple barrier of astral energy manifested beneath it, halting its descent and sending it on a crash course off the road and to a much safer landing spot.

At the same time, smaller Astral barriers appeared around the team and civilians, protecting them from the fall out of the leviathan's crash landing.

The team looked up in surprise as Maxim's voice, cold and unearthly, rang out.

"Looks like you need me."

He emerged from the barrier itself, his shadowed form rising like a specter. The dark smoke surrounding him dissipated as he stepped forward, his glowing eyes fixed on the Chitauri still swarming around them.

Hulk roared again, and the various other Avengers readied their weapons one by one, gazing towards the Chitauri surrounding them ready to attack.

"Guys," Natasha said, bringing attention to a massive swarm of Chitauri pouring through the portal in the sky.

"Call it captain." Tony said, everyone turning to face the aliens.

"Alright listen up. Until we can close that portal our priority is containment. Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything, call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash."

Hawkeye looked towards Tony, "Wanna give me a lift?"

"Right." Tony said, stepping forward and grabbing Clint before flying off.

Everyone's attention immediately returned to Steve who continued speaking, "Thor. You gotta try and bottleneck that portal. Slow 'em down. You got the lightning. Light the bastards up. You and me, we stay here on the ground. We keep the fighting here. Max, free-roam, any one of those things that move, make sure it doesn't...and Hulk."

Hulk's gaze turned towards Steve who raised up a finger and said,

"Smash!"

Didn't want to bore yall to death with another filler chapter before the big Avengers moments, so lets go.

Once this arc finishes, changes to the MCU Canon will be much more frequent. Certain things will stay the same, but don't read this expecting nothing to change.

Bab 65: Battle of New York ( Part 2 )

At an Office building, its once pristine foundation trembled under the relentless assault of the Chitauri. The glass window shattered as the alien warriors forced their way inside, their snarls echoing throughout the hallways.

The Employees cowered under desks and behind hastily constructed barricades, the terror in their eyes mirrored in the dim light of flickering fluorescent bulbs as they saw the Chitauri moving towards them.

Then, the lights began to flicker unnaturally. Shadows that had been confined to corners stretched and writhed, snaking across walls and ceilings. The temperature seemed to plummet, and an oppressive silence settled over the area.

The Chitauri paused, their guttural snarls turning into cautious growls as they scanned their surroundings. Something was wrong. Something was coming.

One of the Chitauri turned toward the source of the sound, only to see a dark mist coalescing in the air. Suddenly,

~SCREEEECH~

A Katana stabbed it through the chest, and a demonic flame engulfed its body, burning it all away to dust.

~SCREEECH~SCREECH~

The other Chitauri soldiers all screeched, looking around as the dark mist coalesced into Maxim, Yamato resting in his hand.

The first Chitauri, emboldened by numbers, raised its weapon. Before it could fire, Maxim vanished in a swirl of shadows. He reappeared behind the creature, Yamato slicing cleanly through its torso. The alien fell in two pieces, its body dissolving into ash before it even hit the floor.

The others opened fire, their energy blasts lighting up the darkened hall. However, Maxim had already set up a variety of Astral Barriers, which effortlessly absorbed the energy blasts.

During that, Maxim was able to easily glide through the chaos like a phantom, and with a wave of his hand, a dense nebula erupted in the Chitauri's midst, pulling the aliens together.

They struggled, limbs flailing as they were dragged toward the center of the vortex. Once the nebula reached its peak, Maxim extended his free hand, summoning a demonic flame.

With a flick of his wrist, the flames shot forward tyrannically, piercing through the Chitauri trapped in the vortex. The energy exploded on contact, leaving nothing but scorched walls.

More Chitauri poured into the room, determined to overwhelm him through sheer numbers. Some of them also hurried towards the terrified employees, trying to use them, energy bombs in their hands.

Maxim welcomed the challenge. Ebony and Ivory appeared in his hands, the twin pistols glowing faintly as he opened fire. Each bullet was imbued with demonic energy, tearing through the invaders' armor with brutal precision.

He teleported between the Chitauri, avoiding their fire. One of them lunged at him with a spear, but Maxim sidestepped it easily, grabbing it by the neck and crushing his hand.

His Superhuman strength crushed the neck effortlessly, and Maxim tossed its dead body to one of its allies.

Before that ally could react, Maxim grabbed the energy bomb and tossed it directly towards it, exploding on contact and killing it.

At the far end of the room, a Chitauri captain barked orders, rallying its troops. Maxim's glowing eyes locked onto the leader. He raised his hand, and a gravitational well formed beneath the captain, pulling it to its knees. Maxim strode toward it, the blade of Yamato dragging across the floor with a menacing scrape.

"You shouldn't have come here," he growled, his voice low and filled with cold fury. In one swift motion, he drove Yamato through the captain's head, the blade slicing cleanly as the alien's body collapsed into ash.

The room fell silent save for the crackle of sparking wires and the groans of the injured. Maxim turned, his dark aura dissipating slightly as he scanned the area.

He raised a hand, conjuring a series of small barriers that wrapped around the entire floor, stopping anything from getting in. "Stay here. Once everything is over, someone will get you."

The employees nodded, and slowly got up, thanking Maxim. However, his gaze has already shifted toward the distant sound of more Chitauri attacking throughout New York, and his grip on Yamato tightened.

As the survivors scrambled for the exits, Maxim's gaze shifted toward the distant sound of more Chitauri approaching. His smirk returned, and his grip on Yamato tightened.

"Round two," he muttered, vanishing into the shadows once more.

INT. S.H.I.E.L.D. HELICARRIER – COMMAND ROOM

The command room is tense, dimly lit, illuminated by holographic screens and monitors displaying the chaos in New York. Nick Fury stands at the center of the room, facing a wall of screens where the World Security Council members are appearing via video call.

One of the councilmen spoke, "Director Fury, the council has made a decision.

"I recognize the council has made a decision, but given that it's a stupid-ass decision, I've elected to ignore it." Fury said as he stared at the holographic screens.

"Director, you're closer than any of our subs. You scramble that jet," A councilman spoke before being cut off by Fury.

"That is the island of Manhattan, Councilman. Until I'm certain my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population." Fury responded.

"If we don't hold them here, we lose everything." The councilman responded.

Fury had a steeled resolve as he spoke, "I send that bird out we already have."

Fury had cut off the communications tab and was headed back to the Command Centre when he was informed of one of the jets taking off unauthorized. Whilst he managed to shoot it down with an RPG, another one was able to get off.

Fury stood silent for a moment, his jaw clenched as he tabbed into the Avengers communication line, "Stark, do you hear me? You have a missile heading straight for the city."

*********************

During all of this, the battle of New York was still well underway. Chitauri continued to pour from the rift, raining destruction on the streets below.

Out of the street, Maxim spotting Steve grappling with a pack of Chitauri. Judging from the fact he was alone, he could tell Natasha had already hijacked a ship and was on her way to the top of Stark Tower.

Steve's shield clanged against the invaders' weapons, his movements a masterclass in agility and precision. Despite his skill, the sheer numbers threatened to overwhelm him.

Maxim raised a hand, summoning a series of spectral blades that hovered in the air like predatory birds.

With a flick of his wrist, the blades shot forward, impaling the Chitauri surrounding Steve. The soldier turned, nodding in acknowledgment before charging into the fray once more.

"Appreciate the assist," Steve called over his shoulder as he engaged another swarm of Chitauri.

"Keep moving," Maxim replied, his focus already on the next threat.

Thor's thunderous laughter echoed nearby as the God of Thunder unleashed a storm upon the invaders. Lightning arced across the sky, striking a leviathan mid-flight.

The creature writhed and screamed as it fell, its massive bulk crashing into the side of a skyscraper.

"Maxim!" Thor boomed, landing heavily beside him, "Care to join the fun?"

Maxim tilted his head, his eyes glowing faintly as he studied the approaching swarm of Chitauri. "Always."

Thor tossed Mjolnir and Maxim created a portal, teleporting it mid air and allowing it to instantaneously crash through dozens of Chitauri, destroying them effortlessly, before Maxim teleported it back, right into Thor's hand.

~BOOM~

Then, Thor leapt off, smashing through soldiers and sending arcs of lightning into the gliders above, grounding them permanently while Maxim continued on the streets, landing headshot after headshot with Ebony & Ivory.

At one point, a particular Chitauri charged at Thor. The Asgardian braced himself, but Maxim stepped in, summoning Sparda, the demon-forged greatsword.

With a powerful swing, he cleaved the creature in half, the force of the strike sending a shockwave that leveled nearby debris.

Thor raised an eyebrow, "Impressive, Asgard could use a soldier like you."

Maxim gave a faint chuckle and muttered silently, "If only you knew."

~TREMBLE~

The ground trembled as another leviathan descended, its grotesque form towering over the battlefield. Maxim watched as a barrage of Chitauri soldiers jumped off of its back.

Maxim immediately raised his arms, calling forth a nebula of shimmering stars. The nebula expanded rapidly, enveloping the leviathan and its soldiers in a celestial storm.

Gravity twisted within the field, crushing the leviathan's armored hide and tearing its soldiers apart. The creature roared in agony, its massive form buckling under the cosmic assault.

Not content to let it escape, Maxim teleported onto the leviathan's back, Yamato in hand. He ran along its spine, slicing through the alien mechanical armor with precise, calculated strikes.

When he reached its head, he plunged the katana deep into its skull, channeling a surge of demonic energy that exploded outward, obliterating the leviathan entirely.

He landed gracefully amidst the falling debris, his cloak of shadows billowing around him.
