Bab 17: The Plan

Durandal Island, Forests.

Finn and his crew were led to a hidden camp deep in the island's forest, where the resistance fighters, miners, blacksmiths, and former Marines had gathered.

Their leader, a rugged blacksmith named Thon, greeted Finn with a firm handshake.

"Captain Finn, we've been waiting for help," Thon said, his voice filled with the weight of many battles. "Greil fortified himself in the mines. If we're going to take him down, we need to hit him hard and fast."

Gathered around a crude map of the island, Thon outlined his plan.

"We'll take out Greil's lieutenants first to disrupt his command. Young lady, you'll handle his second-in-command, Ironclad Boros. The rest of you, sabotage the weapons caches and free the captives. We need to create as much chaos as possible."

"What about you, Captain?" a resistance fighter asked.

"I'll face Greil," Finn said, his voice steely. "He's mine."

Thon looked at Finn, a fire in his eyes that hadn't been there before. "No, Captain. I'm coming with you."

Finn raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?"

Thon's expression hardened, his jaw clenching. "I'm sure. Greil… he killed my family. My wife, my children, my whole village. All of them are gone because of him." His voice wavered, but the resolve in his eyes didn't falter. "I need to see this through."

Finn nodded, understanding the depth of Thon's pain and determination. "Alright. We'll take him down together."

Thon agreed and ordered, "Then we'll attack at nightfall."

Durandal Island, Mines.

The night was their ally. Shadows crept over the landscape as Finn and the resistance fighters moved swiftly and silently through the forest.

The island's terrain was rough, but they knew it well.

The group split into smaller units as they neared the outskirts of Greil's fortified stronghold. Each had a role to play in the unfolding plan.

Thon, leading Finn toward the entrance of the mines, paused. He turned to him, his voice a low murmur. "Remember, this is for everyone Greil's hurt. Stay focused. Stick to the plan."

Finn nodded, and they pressed on. They had timed their approach to coincide with the resistance's simultaneous strikes across the compound.

Finn could already hear the distant sounds of skirmishes breaking out, muffled explosions, the clang of weapons, and shouts of resistance fighters engaging Greil's forces.

Thon and Finn reached a secluded section of the mines where a small group of guards patrolled. Thon raised a hand, signaling Finn to stop.

They crouched low behind a cluster of boulders, observing the guards' movements.

Finn's eyes narrowed as he assessed the situation, noting the pattern in the guards' patrol.

"We'll take them quietly," Thon whispered. "Can't alert the rest."

Finn agreed. With a quick, silent nod, the two men moved like shadows.

Thon took the lead, slipping behind the first guard and silencing him with a swift blow from his hammer's handle.

Finn was right behind him, dispatching the second guard with a precise strike to the neck.

With the path clear, Thon gestured toward a narrow passage leading deeper into the mines. "This way," he whispered.

The two men made their way through the dimly lit tunnels of the mines, the walls echoing with the distant clanging of metal and the shouts of battle from outside.

Greil's fortified stronghold loomed ahead, a menacing structure carved into the rock, guarded by thick iron doors.

"This is it," Thon said, gripping his hammer tightly. "We take him down here, or we die trying."

Finn glanced at the blacksmith, seeing the determination etched into his features. "We won't die today," he said firmly. "We'll end this."

They burst through the doors, the iron groaning under the force of their combined strength.

Inside, Greil stood waiting, a hulking figure of a man only wearing trousers, highlighting his upper body.

"So, you've come to die, Thon," Greil sneered, his voice a low growl. "And you've brought a friend. How quaint."

Thon didn't respond with words. He charged forward, his hammer swinging with a force driven by years of grief and rage.

Griel met his hammer with his bare hands, the two of them clashed with their might. Finn circled around, waiting for an opportunity to strike and respecting Thon's wishes of a chance to kill him.

As the battle raged on, Thon's rage-fueled strength began to wane. Greil's counterattacks grew more savage, driving the blacksmith back.

With a powerful strike, Greil sent Thon crashing into the wall, his hammer clattering to the ground.

"Thon!" Finn shouted, he flickered in front of Griel and threw a fist at him. 'Let's see how tough that body really is!'

<Rokushiki: Tekkai!>

Finn's fist connected with his midsection, sending him flying back. His feet dug into the floor as he struggled to regain his posture.

Finn flickered in front of him again, but this time his fist met Griel's.

<Armament Haki: Hardening>

Griel's fist turned black as it clashed against Finn's Tekkai-enhanced punch. Griel's Haki was stronger causing Finn to be flung crashing into a wall, but he canceled the damage with his Tekkai.

Finn's mind raced, 'He knows Haki?!'

Thon struggled to his feet, blood streaming from a cut on his forehead. "You won't… you won't win," he gasped, forcing himself to stand.

But before he could take another step, Greil was upon him, a massive sword in his hand.

"No!" Finn roared, scrambling to his feet, but it was too late.

With a swift, brutal motion, Greil drove his sword through Thon's chest, impaling him against the wall.

The blacksmith gasped, blood bubbling from his lips as he stared down at the blade protruding from his body.

"Thon!" Finn's voice cracked with anguish as he watched his ally fall, his body slumping lifelessly to the ground.

Greil turned his cold gaze to Finn, a twisted smile on his lips. "And now, you die."

Something inside Finn snapped. Rage, sorrow, and a burning desire for justice surged through him, overwhelming every other emotion.

His vision blurred with purple, and he felt a wave of energy erupt from deep within him.

Greil's grin faltered as the air around them crackled with power.

Finn's eyes blazed with intensity as he unleashed his Conqueror's Haki, the force of his will crashing through the room like a tidal wave.

The walls trembled, and debris fell from the ceiling as Greil staggered back, momentarily stunned by the overwhelming pressure.

"This ends now," Finn growled, his voice echoing with raw power.
